hate the concept of the "unconventional top surgery scars" always hurts my heart a bit when someone is happy about how i draw top scars "unconventional" like theirs, as though the top scars i draw aren't actually really common, artists just don't tend to depict top scars the way they actually look, you sooo rarely see your own surgery results in transmasc art

for the most part, they're not neat hooks, they're not smooth, your chest might have a bump or tilt inward in some places, you might have extra skin under your arm pits ('dog ears'), they're not "unconventional" that is just what they look like and real people have these bodies.

it's fine to stylize top scars i'm not saying to not do that, but i really don't see myself in a lot of transmasc art. perfect hooks, that diamond design, etc. i think they look nice but it's not something i put in my own art because i want to see myself in my art and i want other people to see themselves in it too

In s1, she never gave Jinx a verbal apology for hitting her. She gave her two verbal apologies for leaving her. But you know why Vi seemed more genuine with Jinx than Cait did with her?

Her show of remorse.

Vi was the perfect example of how one, show dont tell is used, and two, where media literacy can actually be brought up. And where the scripts and what the writers say actually mattered.

When she hit powder, she immediately regretted it, when using media literacy you can see this when she looks down at her hands after she did it, and can see the blatant remorse on her face. When she hit her, she needed to get away not to hurt her again in the heat of the moment. She was determined not to hurt her again.

When she is taken away, she uses what little resources she has (which are literally nothing, just silco's goons who probably dont even know what she's talking about when it comes to "powder"). She spends seven years trying to get back to her sister to make up for what she did. To make up for calling her a jinx and for hurting her.

When she finally gets the chance she immediately apologizes. She's gentle with her sister and comforting, letting her know that everything would be okay.

When things go haywire she tells her she wouldn't abandon her again.

We see Vi ON SCREEN talk about her guilt about leaving Jinx and see her pour her heart out to Caitlyn, remorseful about what she did, and for the leaving her on the bridge (which i dont blame her for she was literally just shot at and had an injured person with her).

She once again when faced with jinx, apologizes, tells her how much she meant to her by letting her know how her time in prison was spent, and even offers to run away with her to get her away from this "monster" (who she has yet to find out Jinx had a genuine connection with) even if it meant leaving with someone who at this point she knew could kill her (she mentions to Ekko she can't promise she won't die trying to get her to change her ways).

While Vi's show of remorse in some cases are more extreme and I wouldn't advocate for them in a normal circumstances (again like not looking out for her own wellbeing when dealing with someone she knows could put her in danger or worse), it was the perfect mix of everything ppl yap about now. "you lack media literacy", "show don't tell", the works...they managed to pull all of that off with Vi last season.

If they could've done this same thing with Caitlyn, maybe my and a lot of people's attitude would be different toward her and how she treats Vi. but she literally does the complete opposite of everything listed here.

She waits for a few seconds before hitting Vi, leaves and never comes back (people point out the .3 seconds of her grimacing and go "see!? she felt bad!" but literally everything I'm about to mention points to something different), is never shown giving a fuck about her outside of what other characters say, which doesn't mean much when she can't even be bothered to treat Vi well when they are together. She assaults her again when she runs into her and insults her appearance...and is willing to physically hit her again when its not necessary. She condescends to her, telling her to "calm down for once" when Vi's rightfully upset, and still expects trust out of her and for what..? And when she is on screen all we see is that she's replaced Vi and is sleeping with someone else, and speaking of that's the only thing she does try to apologize for...not for hurting vi, not for saying shitty things to her, not for being condescending to her, for sleeping with someone else...and while Vi is away she doesn't use ANY of the unlimited resources she has to make sure she's okay. They couldn't even write her telling Vi that she hurt her...matter of fact that gloss over it and phrase it as Vi just "being away"...

It's lacking...and to try and act like ppl are just dumb for holding arcane writers to a standard they themselves set for their own show is just ridiculous.

Vi didn't need a verbal apology necessarily, she needed a thorough show of remorse...and we barely got it.

Tw: hurt/comfort, my first fic with my FAV CHARACYER OMGHSGS LYNEYY, feel like this is kinda shit but oh well

You and Lyney have been dating for about a year now. It was like a dream come true. And as we all know, Lyney is (obviously) very flirty and a sweet talker. Though you may like it, it wasn't always a benefit for you.

Lyney's magic show at the opera house just ended. It was magical like always. You were talking to Lynette while waiting for Lyney - who had to do something at the back. You saw him coming back, but just as you were about to approach him, you stopped. Some girl approached him and started talking to him. You didn't mind.. at first. It was now near 10 minutes, and they are still talking.

You didn't mind....didn't....mind?

It seems Lyney performed a magic trick for her. You have just seen bits and parts of it, but it was enough for you to get an unsettling feeling in your stomach. He pulled a rainbow rose from behind her ear and smiled at her. Rainbow rose.... a flower that represents passion and romance. You knew Lyney wasn't dumb. He knew what that flower represents. Without much thought, you excused yourself from Lynette and went back home.

You were walking back home, lost in your thoughts. You loved Lyney, and you knew he loved you, but you told him multiple times-you don't feel comfortable with him being flirty with his audience. You wouldn't usually mind, but he even 'hangs out' with some of them. You know there are no romantic feelings present beetwen them, well, at least grom Lyney, but you can't help but get this weird ugly feeling once in a while. Ugh, what a joke... you though.... do my feelings mean nothing to him?

You were getting ready for your bed, but you realized you couldn't sleep. How annoying. You turned on the lights and decided to read a book. You were enjoying it until someone started knocking on your door. And then you heard his voice. No way.

"Please, don't do this. I-I know I was in the wrong...I promise I will change. I love only you, I just wanted to keep them entertained, I understand now how horrible it was of me. I can't lose you...please...don't leave me.." You knew how hard it was for Lyney to trust people and open up, and you knew even more how much he really loved you. You felt his hands shaking, and you heard the way his voice was shaking slightly. It was rare for Lyney to express his feelings like this.

"I forgive you, but dont break your promise" You said as you hugged him back, and you felt him hug you just a little tighter.

"Oh, what did I do to deserve you?" He said as he put cheem at the top of your head.

The next morning, you woke up to an empty bed. You knew he had to go practice for his next show esrly in the morning so you didn't mind. You walked to the kitchen and found a bag of doughnuts with a note attached next to them.

Kate doesn't seem to mind and considering that their relationship is complicated I don't think that to them its that big of a deal but from my perspective I see this as kind of like..cheating?? Maybe it's too harsh of a word but they are lovers aren't they?? Even if he does love Kate.. why???

hi there, anon! first of all, i really appreciate you reading my tls! even for a character who may not be your cup of tea too 😳 big respect! i’ll try my best to phrase my perspective, but if anything comes out awkward, i apologize in advance!

i think i can understand where they’re coming from, personally. and maybe this has something to do with my way of thinking or orientation that kissing someone does not necessarily equate to having feelings for them. i dont think the act of kissing itself needs to be romantic. for example, if i had a partner and we were playing a game with friends and my partner had to kiss another person on the lips, i would be fine with it. and thats probably the level alfons thinks of kissing as well.

if we think abt alfons himself…well, kissing to him may as well be a greeting. hell, he kissed kate on the lips very shamelessly in elbies route even though he’s fully aware kate would never pursue him romantically nor does he hold any intention to steal her away from elbie. (though it can be stated that he felt some level of attraction toward kate…it may or may not have been romantic. we don’t know and thats up to interpretation). and with how many times al kissed kate without really holding very romantic feelings for her in his own route…it could very much be said that kissing is solely physical for him.

he viewed things like kissing and sex as tools to make others forget abt their worries. and i dont think simply getting together with kate alone would be enough to radically change his entire view on such things — views which are also rooted in his philosophy he’s held for years.

so the fact he promised to never have sex with anyone but her at the end of his main story, even with the views he holds abt sex, is already leaps and bounds of faith to him, in my eyes at least.

all that said, who’s to say that change is absolutely impossible? even though main stories come to an end, they also open the door for possibilities. there are many events to come with alfons. maybe you can feel a change through the development of future events. who knows!

as a perisex person, how could i be the best advocate for intersex people i can be? i want to talk about intersex issues but i dont wanna talk over actual intersex people

I think every intersex person you ask this question to will give you different answers. First, I'd like to direct you to InterACT. They have a lot of good resources and information about being intersex and intersex advocacy.

Reading up on intersex issues especially from intersex perspectives is something that I think is a great thing to do. Keep up on news about us, about laws and legislature being passed about us. If there is intersexist laws/legislature being passed where you live, do what you can to protest it, spread awareness, etc. Likewise, support laws/legislature going into place that support intersex people.

In my opinion, one of the best ways to be an advocate/ally is through the "small" things. If you hear someone saying something intersexist, whether it's intentional or not, speak up and correct them. Inform people about how sex isn't a binary or correct their ideas they have on the sex binary. And I'd like to be clear I am not saying to argue with people. Especially not on the Internet. It's likely to not do very much. If people aren't willing to change or learn, you cannot force them to.

Be there for intersex people! If you know someone is being intersexist to someone (whether or not they're intersex), speak up for them or defend them. If it's a situation where you aren't able to, talk to them after the fact and provide them a safe space. Be someone who intersex people can feel safe coming to about their issues or as someone who is on their side.

And truthfully, I think something a lot of people need to learn to fear less is "speaking over" X group of people--not that it isn't an issue or that it doesn't happen, but a lot of the time, the things people are afraid of doing when it comes to speaking over is actually useful advocacy. "Speaking over" is when voices from people who aren't part of X group are prioritized over those who are. This would be if perisex people were the primary voices and speakers when it comes to talking about someone's intersex experiences. Or correcting or policing someone on what they say their experiences are.

You aren't going to be a perfect ally or advocate. No one is able to do that. What matters is you keep trying, learning, and listening. If people harass you or bully you over your mistakes after you've already learned from them, that isn't right of them. As an ally of any group, you're probably going to experience people from that group who think you're being an ally in the wrong way. For example, I am inclusive when it comes to things like being transgender and intersex. For being transgender, I do not believe you need to have dysphoria to be trans, I support nonbinary identities (even the "weird" ones), etc. But there are groups of trans people who think that in itself is transphobic and that there are correct ways of being trans. I believe being a trans+ ally would mean supporting ALL trans people, regardless of how they are trans, but those people who restrict and exclude who is and isn't allowed to be trans would call allies who support that transphobic. Being an ally is active work. It isn't always going to be easy. And that's okay! Like I said, keep trying.

I apologize if this didn't answer very well, and other intersex people are more than welcome to weigh in on their own thoughts on how to be a good ally/advocate. And I am always welcome to more specific questions!

somethings that could have made the Apology Tour better in my opinion under the cut. I liked the episode, but I thought some things were clunky or underused. The point was good, but somethings bogged it down to me and some changes might have helped.

get rid of Dennis at the party, I think him being there undermines the whole purpose of the party. The people there are supposed to be Blitz's exes who are hurt by the way he treated them, Dennis was a rando he made out with at a party not someone he hurt. Blitz was an asshole to him sure, but he doesn't qualify as someone Blitz hurt really.

More blood moon than Apology Tour, but instead of having Stolas leave before/in the middle of Blitz' apology, have Blitz start to apologize but quickly turn it around or stop because he couldn't. This episode frames how Blitz never gave a real apology, Stolas even says that, but then he leaves in the middle of Blitz trying to give one, which isn't fair. If that was the point against Stolas than I would understand but it feels weird when the episode doesn't seem to be making that point and agrees with him. Blitz starting to apologize and being unable to being the final straw for Stolas to leave would be a better set up for the episode than him leaving while Blitz is trying to say he's sorry. I don't think the apology would have saved their relationship, but it would have framed Apology Tour better.

Make it more balanced on who is at fault because Blitz and Stolas are both at fault. I think Blitz is more to blame, like 65% to Stolas' 35% but both are to blame for their relationship (or lack thereof) falling apart. I'm mostly fine with it since Blitz is the main character, the show is going to deal wiht his issues first. I think/hope Stolas will have an episode in the future where he is forced to confront the fact that he was also unfair to Blitz. For whatever he says now, he did look down on Blitz and disrespect him, playfully perhaps but he didn't treat him like an equal, but like a plaything. He would have known about the assassin if he paid attention to his wife talking to him at the dinner table, Blitz might have come if Stolas sounded serious on the phone instead of lackadaisical. He is to blame for their relationship being what it is too and the show should acknowledge that.

give the exes names and maybe even explain how blitz hurt them. I can understand the points the episode was trying to make, but by only having the people we already know and Dennis being the ones with names and the ones we know the story of, it kind of hurts the premise. Having one or two of the exes have a song about how shitty Blitz was to them when they thought they were together and Verosika naming them when they did would help to make the exes feel more like characters than concept art. Because I like the imp ex dressed up like Beetlejuice or the two women Exes who are more into each other than hating Blitz, but they're just background characters not actual characters. Adding names to even a few of them would make them feel more than just numbers that Blitz slept with and hurt.

Blitz throughout the series is fine with having sex and flirting with anyone he finds attractive. I could see him hurting a lot of people for a number of reasons, especially the ones he actually liked because he got scared and sabotages the relationship. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think I believe he was in a relationship with these people enough to hurt all of them. some of them sure, but I don't know I get that Blitz is desperate for love, but I don't know all these people should be considered exes. I think it would have been interesting if there were some who were one night stands or quick fucks who dont' like the guy but come for the party and those who are genuinely hurt from something Blitz did.

I would take out the second blitz/Stolas conversation. I don't think it really added anything except pain to the story, which is understandable, but we already know the characters are hurt. Instead I would have Verosika in Blitz's position, letting Stolas have someone in his corner to talk to. I love Verosika this episode, not just because I'm a dumb lesbian, but because she feels like Fitz in the ep we see him after Ozzie's, more of a character than someone who hates Blitz. I think she was underutilized and would have been sweet for her to be the one to get Stolas to open up, drunk or not. I think she would have better in writing and for Stolas for him to have someone to talk to not at, like he did to Blitz in the episode. I think her shooting down his desire to be loved like in a romcom would be better for him to hear than Blitz. Blitz could even be eavesdropping on them and being hurt by what he hears. I think if Verosika gave Stolas good advice that wasn't just drink or fuck yourself numb, but encourage him to have fun and explore something that he likes, even if it's just dancing with the handsome incubus that he dances and kisses later.

I dont' know, probably just bullshit, but I wanted to get this out because I did enjoy the episode, but the tag is full of people either hating it or loving it and my mind doesn't work like that. I like a lot of things, but I don't think there's anything perfect, I just know how it would have made the episode better for me personally. I'll also admit I'm not super into the Blitzo/Stolas ship, I get it but I think it's better for them to spend some time apart presonally so others might disagree.

2024 results warning rant: protect your peace before reading

Hello my mutuals. I just wanted to give a post election update and confirm stuff. I apologize for my absence, but I need to scream somewhere.

My state fully slipped red this election season.

My state was once seen as a state where you voted based on values and not sides. We were red, but had blue leaning federal representstives. Our rep in the senate went from blue to red. The new dickhead is pro a national abortion ban. Selling off our national land to rich out of staters. Further deepening the wealth gap in my state.

The only good news is that my state is still temporarily a safe haven state for abortion care. As all states surrounding us have harsh laws surrounding abortion.

I am safe as I can be for now. I have a home.

But I know that my state has homosexual marriage as being illegal on a state by state level. We still have Sodom laws that are canceled out by the federal right to marriage. If that right to marriage was stripped at the federal level, we would lose it here.

As someone who is studying to go into social work i am looking at the reality that every field i want to enter is going to get cut or reatricted into obsolescence. I was going to specialize in community aid. Getting my masters to work as a therapist for rural communities.

I understand the want to punish those is red states. I really do. But we did what we could. In the next few weeks you will blame the 3rd party voters, and electoral college. But this doesn't change the fact that our government will have 3 republican branches in government. Even ignoring the Supreme Court, this is bad.

I am scared.

The thing about rural red states is, there is no where else to go. Whenever people panic about the prices of blue states. There is somewhere for them to go. Out of their city or move to a big safe city somewhere red. Rural but safe. Where do I go? Living in one of the cheapest areas in my shitty state. I worry that i wont be able to stay safe forever. Most men I work with comment about how thin. Or frail. Or weak I am. Its a joke that i would lose any fight. That I easily get tired when doing anything that requires manual labor. Thst I have a good body and not much else. Women here get married at 20. Maybe go into nursing if they dont marry blue collar. All the jobs that pay well employ the men I fear. Where can I go? I don't love men, and the men here are those who put us into this mess.

I am scared. Scared that the one field i was passionate about was about to be stripped away from my hands. That I am going to watch my town of retirees realized how fucked they are without their Medicaid and Medicare. The fact that I still need to cut off half of my family for my own sanity. The fact my family has been outing me to anyone they know, because they are accepting enough to have a gay child. That I can't feel safe anymore. That the jobs that keep me alive won't keep me safe.

Soon, the family i live with will want me out. Throw the bird out of the nest, as clearly i am just a leach.

Living on my own in a cost of living crisis. In a few years. One or two. There will be no safety net. That's my reality.

What if he cuts FAFSA scholarships? What if I can't even get my degree?

That's in the future.

We had our first snow last night. And I am tired. So I'm playing dragon age. And eating good food.

I think the reader's ability is a great and beautiful choice. It's not overpowering to change the plot or invite plot holes but powerful enough to impact everyday life. It really keeps me asking if the reader is using her ability on a certain situation or not and I really love that feature.

AND OMG IM GLAD - i was so conflicted about how to phrase/what to make her ability because i didn't want to make it too op but at the same time .. she's a port mafia executive, she needs to have a pretty notable ability, and then i was like wait ... her whole thing is politics and negotiations, so obviously it has to be something along the lines of fucking with ppl's minds/brains, but i needed to obviously whittle that down because mind control is just too ridiculous, so i got the idea of her being able to like induce emotions + states onto people BUT they're able to draw themselves out of it if they have the strength for it.

some things are easier to brush off, but other things aren't. like she can put people to sleep with her ability and they can't really drag themselves out of that because now they're sleeping, and inducing fear in particular is pretty hard for people to draw themselves out of because it spirals quickly. but for negotiations and stuff, when she's making them feel as if she's more trustworthy/more susceptible to taking bad terms, she has to be SO careful & calculated with her every word because any small thing could make them double take and jar them out of the induced state.

actually, in civzai universe, it's going to be really interesting because without dazai there to stop chuuya from using corruption, reader and chuuya had to figure out a way to knock him out of it themselves - which they DID and it involves her ability but it's SOOOO dangerous for her so they end up not really using corruption often. this actually comes up in the next chapter

Dont know if youre still doing the AU asks but if you are, 5 HC for an AU where Eri, running away from Overhaul, runs into Gran torino and while panicking rewinds him back to his prime.

1- Eri runs, and runs, and hits someone who swears and grabs and she squeezes her eyes tight as light rushes out of her and hands go away. She curls up on the ground, sobbing, and when new gloved hands grab her without a word she does nothing, just hides her face and hopes Chisaki will go back home slowly enough to give her a break before punishing her.

2- Sorahiko got knocked over by a wrecking ball of a kid, fails to bite off his reaction as he gets up and reaches out to help her up. But then she's glowing and his whole body is in agony. Sorahiko's heart isn't soft enough to keep holding on, and he jets back, dropping the kid. By the time he's on the other end of the street, holding on to the building, he's taller than he was a second ago. He holds his breath, but the glow fades and doesn't affect him more when he's out of range. He waits a second, then goes back and scoops up the kid, who doesn't move. Worn out, probably, and the bandages aren't a good sign. Well, he was on his way to Nighteye's office, so he just keeps heading there.

3- Why is he on the way to talk to Sir? Because it's the only reason I can think of to have him be hours away from his home in that area where Eri is. So let's say Gran is there to update him on the fact that AfO is probably definitely back after the Hosu nomu attack. Gran brings Eri in, and that's about the moment that Eri realizes she is not being carried home by Chisaki. She looks up when she's put on a chair and Gran calls for Sir, ignoring the sidekicks at their desk. Sir comes down but stops on the stairs, staring at Gran with a dropped jaw, trying to figure out why someone would dress up as a young, tall, handsome, in his prime Gran Torino. And also why there's a crying child there. Gran snaps that it is very much him, he got hit with a quirk, and would Sir like to do something useful, please?

4- Sir apologizes to Eri for Torino's bad manners, and asks her what's wrong. She mentions Chisaki's name, something he knows as a connection to the Yakuza but not much more, and then explains the bandages when asked. It's a pretty clear, terrible case of abuse, and as he used his quirk, they're allowed to step in instead of handing it back to the police. Eri is terrified that Chisaki will find and attack them for taking her, but Gran says he didn't lose his brains with his wrinkles- he knows how to notice if he was being followed, and he was too quick for a tail. Then he asks how long her quirk lasts for, and she starts crying again because she hates it and can't undo it. For a moment, Gran and Sir share a look. A "we're terrible people for thinking about this" look, a "but, if she can rewind people..." look, a "Toshinori..." look. Then Sir looks down and shakes his head. Obviously it won't work, or All Might will refuse, because otherwise Sir have seen the difference in that vision of his death. Gran lets it go because he doesn't want to think about the vision either, he's still not happy Sir looked without permission even if he also wishes Toshi were enjoying retirement by now.

5- well, that's almost true. Gran changes the topic and says "Well, since we know Toshinori won't actually die of a heart attack on seeing me like this, why don't I go over there to show him in person?" Sir puts his head in his hands, but can't think of a way to stop him. Gran holds out his hand to Eri, says UA will be a safe place to wait, Nedzu will let her while Sir takes care of the paperwork on her case, and she can come see All Might. Eri blinks up as she takes his hand and asks who All Might is. Sir collapses to the ground, but Gran just laughs, and tells her stories on the way there.

+1 Toshi didn't have a heart attack but he did faint. Izuku was very close to it, eyes nearly popping out of his head before he looked around for the real Gran Torino since this is clearly another obvious prank.

first of all I love long answers, so no apologies in fact I'll apologize because I plan to ramble on.

I also love the movie but I have so many problems with how little we were given of the Plinth family, that they didn't fully exploit Marcus and Sejanus relationship and the sandwich scene (no ironically I have so much to say about that I may do another post explaining in depth why I hate how they executed that scene) so I feel you buddy

Yes I also think it was a bit of an unnecessary change in that regard, I'm not complaining at all about a scene of Coriolanus crying while looking at a picture of him and Sejanus together, it's cute to see him that pathetic crying and my heart was broken bc we could see again that Coriolanus means the world to Sejanus and yet that happen, but still I think it's more interesting, dramatic and hilarious to witness Coriolanus frustration at seeing that there's a picture of Marcus, of all the people.

Is someone else and NOT HIM, THE ONE THAT INSPIRE SEJANUS. Like as a snowjanus fan Im more into that shit of Coryo in denial screaming and thwroing bc ITS NOT HIM. But thats probably only me /j

You summarized very well many of the aspects in Marcus and Sejanus relationship that drive me crazy. I also belive they had such an unique relationship in the saga, Im so angry bc the movie dont fucking explore them in depth.

AND I AGREED WITH EVERY WORD YOU SAID ABOUT SEJANUS, THAT MOMENT OF KIDNESS IN THE END IT DEFINED HIS CORE, YEARS LATER HE MADE THE CONSCIOUS DECISION TO BE GUIDED BY THE ONE MOMENT WHEN A STRANGER OFFERED HIM HELP AND COMFORT OUT OF COMMUNITY AND EMPATHY.

Yeah it's obvious that much of his character is ultimately shaped by his mother, but he makes a very conscious decision to live by that interaction, to decide that if no one else is willing to make that selfless gesture, he'll be the one to take care of it. Even if the world tells him he's crazy and wrong for going in that direction.

About Marcus I agree that he probably thought that and it makes me so sad because I can't help but wonder what it was like for him, again I know in the book they mention they were more classmates than friends but I don't know, childhood in itself seems to me a stage where you tend to connect deeply with others as you are not yet fully aware of the barriers, and while I can see some classmates already having reservations towards Sejanus because of what Strabo had done and what their parents told lf Plinth family, it seems to me it shows that Marcus was not one of those kids.

So I like to think he thought in his own way about Sejanus. About how nice he was despite the nasty reputation that was forming of his family until finally Sejanus moves in and people tell Marcus that the Plinth's are traitors and other terrible things.

How to reconcile that image with that of the scared little boy he helped and thanked him deeply for it? I think it takes years (and the games ultimately help deepen the rift because Sejanus is safe and they in the district aren't) for him to come to that conclusion.

Then Marcus is reaping and it must have been painful and horrible to see Sejanus standing behind a fence, in an expensive and extravagant uniform, trying to offer him a very hearty sandwich. We know it is a gesture of help and comes from a place of compassion but god I can also see how it is at the same time a kind of cruel mockery.

Because Marcus is going to die and he doesn't need a sandwich, or an apology, he needs to be taken out of there, he needs to do not be killed and forced to kill others. So it makes sense his resentfulness will grow, also the image of Sejanus in his memory as his classmate who did wear a nice suit more expensive than others yes but still was from district 2, still live and suffer the war with them, was destroyed, now he can only think of this Sejanus totally capitol from his eyes, a fucking traitor in a red like blood uniform.

Marcus must have been totally hopeless... We know the people in the capitol saw him as a possible winner but I don't think this was his vision. Like the rest he was a scared kid, probably resigned to his death.

He could not give in to ask for Sejanus' help, to take his hand because what would that mean? That he too would become a traitor, that he was not loyal enough to his family and community? He did not want to die with that weight on his conscience and also facing Sejanus sounds anything but helpful.

He doesn't even know from the sandwich act if Sejanus is the same. He already looks different. What if he turned into one of those whimsical, conceited children? Will he be able to stand talking to him? And what could Plinth do for him? Give him a better weapon? Give him a fucking cake?

There was no point in saying anything. Nor to do it.

I believe the bombing and when he sees a way out is the only time Marcus regains hope and we know what happens to him because of that...

yessss!!! in the movie, I have the feeling that excluding so much of the plinths didn't really show the impact of how fucked up it was what coriolanus did by the end. he stole a boy's whole life. he knew his parents, he knew his mother, and still, he got him killed and stole his life anyway. it's so disturbing when you stop to think about it, but since we don't really see much from the plinths in the movie, I feel like it weights much less than it should (ALSO, YES, THE SANDWICH SCENE WAS A CRIME, it was really poorly executed and another point where it seems to make coryo better imo)

it's so funny to me that scene in the book bc coriolanus says with all his chest that it shows "where sejanus' loyalty laid with". bro really came to the conclusion JUST NOW that maybe, and just maybe, he isn't the center of the world and neither is the capitol 😭 while reading I though of him turning to the camera like a the office episode plssssss (and I absolutely AGREE HELPP, coriolanus screaming crying throwing up because sejanus has a pic of MARCUS, of ALL PEOPLE)

the movie had so much potential to explore their relationship in a more visual way. I absolutely understand why storytelling-wise they would rather to explore of sejanus and coriolanus' relationship.... but marcus and sejanus are so important and interesting and UGHHHHH (and plus, they remind me so much of katniss and peeta, I've seen some parallels that DRIVE ME INSANE and I would actually kill for a 4 hour cut with scenes of them together)

AND YESSSS!!! everything regarding the districts in tbosas, everytime we see something about their lifestyle, is about community. marcus and sejanus were not even friends in his words, they were classmates, and marcus went and helped a child that was probably left out and despised by most of his classmates, and he didn't want anything in return (another thing that drives me insane is how coriolanus is quite the reverse of this; he helped sejanus out of interest, pure interest, and how this is pure capitol, while marcus is pure district).

at that point of the rebellion, the plinths were probably so despised at D2, because the way sejanus cherishes that memory is just so important to me. it's the kind of thing you'd probably forget, but he remembered marcus' name, he kept his pic and everything, and he probably talked about it at home enough for his father to know about marcus and. yk. do what he did at the games to "teach sejanus a lesson". marcus' kindness was THAT remarkable. another thing that I think abt 24/7: what was marcus thinking all this time? we never even see him talking. what were his thoughts? I would actually pay suzanne collins just to KNOW.

during the zoo scene, I felt physical pain because I could only think about how OFFENDED marcus probably felt. because, in his place, I at least would feel extremely offended. because let me get this straight: after your father betrays our district, you leave for this fancy town, with fancy clothing, and now I'm about to die, and then you come here offering me a sandwich? (also, this sets another interesting thing about marcus, he's so proud, and I'm just mentioning it bc it seems like a common trait between people from D2 in the future) and plus, he probably saw coriolanus going to talk to lucy gray for the first time at the train. okay that coriolanus' intentions weren't pure, but how marcus felt that sejanus actually KNEW HIM and didn't go to see him, but this boy who never met this girl actually went to the train station? and then his first interaction with sejanus is him offering him food as if he's an animal?

one thing I read once, and I really can't recall from where, was an interpretation that marcus never even spoke to sejanus (not even to curse him or tell him to fuck off) because it was much better to die with the little boy he knew still on his mind, kind and gentle, than to talk to the boy he doesn't know and discover how he actually changed into something marcus despised.

I also do think marcus was resigned to his death. the way he doesn't even try says a lot, even though everyone agreed that he was the tribute with the most chances. D2 is big, it's not like D12, which is smaller. what would it mean for marcus to return after accepting help from a plinth? what would it mean for him to return after 23 another children getting killed just so he could get out alive?

also, in some form, I think marcus and sejanus' dynamic as tribute and mentor as some sort of anti-lucy gray and coriolanus. they're the reverse of each other.

it's so tragic, really, that he had hope for the first time just to end tragically like that. now, I'm going to punch a wall and cry for at least two days in a corner, because marcus is genuinely one of the most interesting tributes and he didn't even got to fight in the games to be this interesting.

One of my favorite things about Fable SMP is seeing how the characters change as people, and it's so cool seeing it now with Fable, who still has a story that doesn't line up, and who still is so incredibly suspicious with every action he makes. We are watching Fable realize he doesn't know everything, that even though he's a god, he has not seen it all, and him assuming things is only making it worse for everyone around him, including and especially his family

"Need to know your way through the library? Just ask our lovely librarian assistant, Linda! She knows this building like the back of her hand(especially because its her favourite place in town!)."

(sorry if this looks rushed, I'm not that good at drawing)

In the show:

She was a background-turned-side character that would appear in a few episodes, acting as a guide for the Handeemen if they need to find a specific book.

They even have their own segment called 'Linda's storytime', where she reads popular fairytales(with the Handeemen interupting them from time to time as a li'l gag). She is mostly seen around the library.

Outside of the show:

They're based off Avery(Arz's OC)'s late close friend, who used to work at the town's local Library. Avery wanted to make something to remember them by, and thus, Linda Literature was created!

Relationships with the Handeemen(Show counterparts):

- Rosco: She was at first scared of the giant pup, due to him being larger then the average golden retriever. But they slowly warmed up to him after Riley showed how harmless Rosco is.

Rosco(like how he is with everyone else) is pretty friendly with Linda, he tried to be a lap dog while she was doing her storytime segment and almost sufficated her, Don't worry, Riley managed to help them in time(Rosco also gave her a lick in the face as an apology).

- Riley: She is close friends with the scientist, as Riley is a regular visitor there. Linda would often try and make small talk with her, they find her use of scientific words 'charming'(rumor has it that she has a small crush on the scientist). Riley is one of the few people who returns the library books in a clean state, Linda appreciates this alot.

Riley sees her as a good friend, Linda is one of the few people she doesn't mind having small talk with(they're dynamic is basically the "He asked for no pickles" meme).

- Nick: Linda looks up to Nick as she is inspired by his poetry skills, they hope to one day be as good as him in writing things(she also has a small crush on him too). Although, they do wish he returns the library books with less finger paints on them.

Nick thinks of her as a great friend, he's glad to finally have someone who wilingly listens to his poems, and properly listens to them(no offense Duke, but you might need to work on your focus more).

- Daisy: The two are good friends, Linda enjoys talking to her, but she also prefers the baker to return the library books withought any flour or other baking stains that somehow got stuck in the pages(atleast she gives them freshly baked pies as an apology).

Daisy invited Linda to join her book club as they needed more members, although, its more of a gossip group really(Daisy is also the only one who knows about Linda's small crush on both Riley and Nick).

- Mortimer: While the two aren't close, they do bond over their shared love for reading. Linda likes how expresive Mortimer is when he's telling a story, it makes storytime alot more entertaining. She's also thankful that he returns the library books withought any stains. Safe to say she has high respect for the old man.

Mortimer is pleased to have another reading buddy, as much as he enjoys Daisy's book club, there was just SO much tea that even he couldn't handle it.

More Info about them:

- She knew Riley back in Highschool, before they both moved to different colleges, they reunited after Linda's first few days of working at the library.

- They have an emotional support, Chilean Rose Tarantula named; Rosey. Fun fact: The show used an actual real life tarantula, due to Owen's huge obsession with accurancy and detail, tho this also led to the infamous missing spider incident(they still have no clue where it went).

- Originally, Linda's pronoun's were They/Them, but due to the fact that it was the 80s, it was changed to She/They to avoid censorship(unfortunetly the show could only used the 'She' pronoun to adress them, curse you transphobes!).

- She is constantly anxious due to her OCD(which explains why they're always seen reorganizing the books and checking if the backdoor is lock for the 28th time).

8: common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

ough............... ok at the risk of this being like. legitimately combative (and with the disclaimer that i love him he is me i am he and i would not ever change a thing about him in either a watsonian or doylist sense).

i dont think jon did Literally Nothing Wrong per se? i think, esp in like, s1-3, he chooses what is essentially the best and most sensible option from where he's standing at the time and i fully understand and under similar circumstances would act in accordance with his actions. but i think the aspect of jon-related conversation, jonversation if you will, that i really don't agree with, or at least find any personal interest in, is that which kinda suggests that he's never acting in a selfish or misguided or even dysfunctional way? because i don't think that's true.

to be clear, i think he's a deeply, deeply caring character who does genuinely want to do things to protect and strengthen and help other people. one hundred percent. but i think one of the conflicts at his core, regardless of what one may think of as the reasoning behind it, is the conflict between that great capacity for caring about and loving others and his frequent inability to go about it in ways that do actually benefit others, or even that do keep him safe, whether we're talking physically or psychologically. i think he, like a Lot of people, especially those with early traumas, learned at some point in his life that an apology must demonstrate remorse, and the optimal way of doing that is by flagellating. so it's truly not any sort of wilful, or even knowing, malice or dysfunction. he is, as he almost always is, doing the best he can with the information from which he's working, but i also think that doesn't mean he's never done wrong or done harm, just that it isn't driven by any sort of desire to hurt.

also (i didnt mean for this to be this long but i had another thought wah) i think a further complication is that when he is acting in an intentionally (or at least, not unintentionally) self-sabotaging or self-harming way, from what we see he feels and enacts the self-loathing after the fact in quite a similar way. again, this is a pretty huge extrapolation, but i think he probably grew up in an environment where all his wrongs were treated as exactly equal, and so he actually feels comparable levels of guilt regardless of the finer points of the infraction itself. that could reasonably explain the consistency in him but. i guess what im saying is my man contains. multitudes. and to me personally the times he falls short are some of the most intriguing.

Now that owl house is over ive noticed an uptick of people kind of retconning the show? like pretending Boscha was the one who ruined Willows life and that Amity NEVER bullied her (they have fully just deleted her entire first appearance of spending 3 minutes harrassing Willow for fun),

or generally just ignoring writing flaws like luzs selfish behaviour, alador being made to one eighty, or smaller things like Skara being including in 'misunderstood' by Willow and rewriting them.

I dont really get it, why not just admit Amity could have been written better, or note how when put in context luz seems very selfish and this should have been better thought out or at least considered in her arc? you can point out these issues and still enjoy the show.

I mean... That's happening for the same reason why I can still write Lumity/Lumischa in a loving, sweet relationship instead of having to acknowledge that Luz gives such little of a shit about Amity as to let her go die alone without warning. Fan content doesn't need to even reflect the analytical beliefs or truths of the show. In fact, it doesn't really need to reflect the show AT ALL sometimes. But this is only true for fan CONTENT. If people are talking about analysis with the show, that gets a lot murkier. I'm not going to be an ass and be like "Oh, they're trying to change the facts!" Not at all. Here's the thing: My blogs tend to be as long as they are when it comes to analysis because of the aggregate actions of the show and characters and what that says about them. For most the words matter WAY more. And The Owl House likes to state what it wants the truth to be rather than backing it up with actions. This is why it goes SO HARD on backstory elements that aren't meant to inform us of character motivations but are supposed to imply that the person they are now is who they've always been so you just forget about they used to be. You forget that Eda was honestly not good to King for like half of S1 if not just the majority of S1. You forget that King acts, talks and others act and talk to him like he's a young adult who's just lazy as shit rather than an eight year old who was adopted by Eda. You forget that Amity was a CUNT for much of her life because look at how much she cares about her teammates or how awful her parents were! It's not good storytelling and it rarely recontextualizes motivations as much as it tries to scapegoat them. We were never going to get a character like Zuko with this writing style because part of Zuko is how much he has INTERNALIZED those trauma we see in S1 and so those never go away entirely. They are still a part of his character. There is no version of Zuko that is pure smiles and laughter like there is for Amity or Hunter. BUT it is to some extent effective, especially since a lot more focus is put on big moments rather than the small ones. I hate Reaching Out for all the small things in it. For all the moments where a small change in dialogue or action would have Luz not seem so entirely callous about Amity's safety while death looms on her mind. What do most remember from that episode? Luz spinning Amity around, Amity not being able to handle Luz's dramatic entrance into the ring and the final conversation where Luz spills out her heart and Amity proves just how amazing a girlfriend she is. Any of the small details that paint Luz poorly, they dismiss entirely because "Look how much pain Luz is in! I'm going to focus on her pain rather than how she is acting because of that pain." Without like, you know... The fact that those going through hard times are STILL responsible for their actions.

I'm not even asking for Luz to have been perfect in that episode but a lot of the time, people will say that hard times prove who you are. I don't like the fact that I can tell I still have a lot of anger in me because I can get more aggressive when I'm tired or just sad than I like to be to others. I apologize and try to keep myself in check though. If this is Luz on a bad day... Then Luz at her core doesn't give a fuck about other people. If her core was that she cared too much, her trauma response should be to focus on those she cares about the most but she doesn't give a SINGLE fuck about Amity that ENTIRE EPISODE. Even down to her saying to join the brawl. She admits it's not because she thinks it's the right choice for Amity or for the situation but that she will always choose chaos. That's not taking into account the person. But that takes ignoring the fact that the text of the episode is trying its hardest to make sure that you are on Luz's side entirely. That by the time Lumity get to the Grom tree, you're not looking for Luz to apologize for breaking her promise at the end Falls and Follies or for ANY of her actions, but instead you're wanting Amity to make Luz feel better.

Luz's choice to stay in the human realm is the same way. The text of the show, the words as stated by characters, is that this is a sacrifice. That it is a noble martyrdom of any happiness Luz could ever have but that she's doing it because she is certain that if she goes, she could only fuck things up. As such, Camila going to the Isles isn't her making Luz do the right thing and actually fix her fuck up but instead Camila being the best mom ever because even though this world scares her, she will do everything in her power to make her daughter happy and give her chances at happiness. This is why I don't blame anyone for liking the show. The show understands good concepts. It thinks that it is doing everything right. And so I have to pull in so much else about the show, all it builds up, contradicts, etc. like that in order to point out why I feel the way I do. The way people might who can't figure out the words because something in the back of your mind is going "Wait, Luz hasn't told any of them the truth and Amity is talking about the future but Luz isn't saying anything but the show says that this makes Luz a good person, not a bad one and that feels wrong for some reason but I can't figure out why." And that is a rough place for most fan analysts. Like they don't do this super often. They aren't ready to pull up an episode list and truly interrogate the thesis in their mind. It's going to be motivated as much by emotion as it is logic. And that's not even a bad thing as most of them are going to do it based on an aspect they love or hate but they're not going to let go of other beliefs they have for the show.

This is part of why I do read every comment that comes across my blogs or my asks. To listen to the other side. Someone yesterday in fact tried to defend Luz becoming a witch at the end because the theme of the show isn't reality vs. fantasy, it's purely about finding a place where you belong. And for a second I was like "You know, that is actually a compelling argument. There is something there." Then I remembered that Yesterday's Lie explicitly pointed out that Luz could have been happy in the Human Realm, that her life was good, and that maybe she needed to question what she was doing. Almost like, I don't know, the question of fantasy vs. reality, of the grand adventure you want versus the fact that life is complicated and messy wherever you go, is a major theme of the show and Luz specifically, right down to King's crown turning out to be nothing but a toy.

But I did my due diligence and did interrogate the question properly and won't say that it has zero merit. Amity finds happiness with Luz. Willow finds happiness with plant magic instead of abominations. Hunter finds happiness out of the EC. There is definitely an aspect of it to the show but it doesn't feel like a main thrust of it. Honestly, I think even if it were, it's made weaker by how much these characters have to change themselves for their happiness. Willow and Luz are the only two who survive contact with a space that will make them happier as Lilith, Eda, Amity and Hunter all effectively have their characters replaced at some point away from their core to a new narrative function that usually either turns them into a joke or something incredibly bland and generic rather than unique and personal.

Analysis is COMPLICATED. Good analysis is HARD. I mean, someone tried to refute me on Titan Luz being a deux ex machina probably in part because they like the spectacle it brought them and while I still debated that my original points stood and that their arguments actually made it clearer how it was a deux ex machina... That doesn't make it a bad thing. But to most fandom analysts, the very term means the story is beyond redemption if it uses that. Meanwhile, I'd argue the deux ex machina appears to be the best part of that episode because it allows such a joyous spectacle for the fans to enjoy, including the angst spectacle of Luz dying. ALL of this is also what led to me final statement for my tierlist: TOH is worse than the sum of its parts. In order to articulate why though, you have to be able to examine all of those parts and TOH is such an ambitious show that there are a LOT of parts with a lot of movement to them to examine. That's a lot harder than questioning if one part is worse than you'd like but keeping a firm belief that the rest is just as good as you always believed, or vice versa. I mean, when I did the Found Family blog, I literally had a moment where I went "I genuinely expected Eda and Luz to have spent time enough to justify the finale because I do believe in their relationship as mentor and student but the two spend almost no time together in the second half and WHAT THE HELL!?" I was caught off guard by finding out that a part of S1 I was firm was good and functional was a lot shakier than I'd expected. But I did my diligence in double checking and then exploring the answer I got.

And I could get into the excuses people give for the show like the shortening but... I mean, I still agree with someone on my Discord that if an analyst excuses something as due to the shortening, they better have a DAMN good reason for it. I will actually listen to an argument for Hunter's character arc being worse because of the shortening due to S2A likely still being mostly produced without that knowledge. I won't forgive that it already had signs of being bad and as bad as most arcs in the show though because even with Eclipse Lake he's being treated as a joke and only truly as an enemy by Amity for a little bit and his OWN COVEN. Eda and King treat him as a joke and so does the episode so while his arc could have been better with more time, it's hard to say it would have been good. Because an excuse actually has to correlate with what is presented. And The Collector exists so... Really, there's no way of using the shortening as an excuse. Not when I've literally made a compelling argument for why a full S3 would have at best been good because the show clearly wanted more time than was EVER reasonable without a firm guarantee from Disney and Disney hasn't given a show more than 3 seasons in a WHILE. (I would link the blog but I couldn't find it quickly)

But again: A lot of these people are just wanting to talk about a show they love and you know what: More power to them. I talk about this show so much because I want to talk about a show I used to live and my brain is rigged to overthink EVERYTHING. A decade ago and I would have been way worse at these blogs than I am now, especially since back then my point was to prove I was right and smart while nowadays it's much more about wanting to teach about writing and discuss aspects of it. And there's a lot I can teach with The Owl House but if I half ass my analysis, you're not going to learn and so I try to be a bit more thorough than maybe I even have to be. If this blog doesn't prove that in spades. Edit: Part of me wonders if part of this is a misinterpretation/abuse of Dana saying that whatever she's stated is as valid as anyone else's headcanons and that only what explicitly happened is canon for the show. Which, as always, for many, meant rip Aro/Ace Lilith and Lesbian Amity. -_- ===========
