it is fascinating seeing ppl say "if you still vote biden just bc he's protected trans rights youre putting your own rights above that of the other people he'll kill" bc i'm like. well that operates under the assumption the Not Biden Option won't be killing those same other people Plus Trans People and given the history of presidents i would say that is a. how should i say this. wild fucking assumption? like idk framing it as "hello transgender, would you rather kill a bunch of non-americans or a bunch of fellow trans people. oh, you don't want to kill trans people? so you personally want to kill non-americans? racist selfish piece of shit" seems uhhhhh disingenuous at absolute best and a psyop at worst
#like my dudes we are literally in the trolley problem as we speak#do you think we like. enjoy living in a country where voting is just 'which one do you think will kill less people'?#ur standing there saying 'if you pull the lever then the guy who tied those people to it will take that as a sign he did the right thing'#and its like. idk i dont think he wouldve tied them there to begin with if he didn't already think he was in the right i gotta be real w u#or honestly its less the trolley problem and more just#'you have access to the orphan crushing machine control panel. theres no off switch but there is a speed dial which is cranked all the way#up. do you turn it down?'#where if you try to turn it down someone will pop up going 'youre such a piece of shit for killing those orphans by adjusting the speed#rather than destroying the machine'#and if you try to point out that the machine is a trillion times bigger than you‚ is made of titanium‚ and has defensive turrets#that gets brushed off as making excuses#and its like.. well ok why arent /you/ destroying it then asshole youre just standing around talking about how#eomeone should blow it up already but youre not even willing to turn down the dial much less actually blow it up#and i dont think turning down the dial does tell the guy who made the machine that it was a good machine to make‚ actually#and especially given how many other people are in their control rooms cranking the dial higher and higher‚ yeah i think ill turn mine down#origibberish

Conceptual Response 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: I DO NOT own these images. I simply found them online.
1. When you think of objects with which you can interact, what kind of interaction or object appeals to you most? Does this have to do with its materials, what is it made of, its feel? Materials might include glass, wood, plastic or metal. Is it smooth, rough or does it have a specific texture? What is a good size relative to the human body? If what you envision looks like an everyday object, how is it typically used?
I really love to interact with objects that are glass. I love the colors glass objects can have and how they reflect light. Clear glass with little hints of color can emphasize any piece or action depending on how the light hits the glass. Glass can be manipulated to emphasize certain movements or actions within a piece. Also, when glass is heated, it can change form and shape to be almost anything. Glass can technically have many different textures but glass is usually smooth due to sand being melted down and smoothed out. If I had to choose a size for this object, I would prefer something that is glass to be about the size of a hand or something that can fit into the palm of someone’s hand. Due to this object being glass, I would not use it as an everyday object but instead something that can be an accent or an extension of the human body.
2. How do you make the object work – with a push button, dial, hand crank, opening a lid – or is it always running? How much physical contact (if any) is interesting to you? Given that the human body can conduct electricity, is touch a factor? What other things might the trigger be for this interaction? Is it sensitive to movement, sound, light, temperature?
The object would be made of clear glass with certain colors mixed in. Also within the class would be some of those fiber optics within it controlled by a sensor in the palm of the other hand to sense the person’s movement. I find physical contact with any object extremely important especially when interacting with art. Having the physical connection with the piece ultimately results in amazing art because the person is one with the object. The object will also be sensitive to light because the colors would be more or less vibrant depending on how the plain light is hitting the others as well as how the sun or external light hits the glass. The object might be sensitive to temperature because the temperature might mess with the sensor for the light within the piece but I am not sure. As for sound, the object will not be sensitive to that because there will be no interaction through sound.
3. What outcome appeals to you? Again, it could be movement, a sound recording, lights, a video or heat. Is it an abstract response, or does the response supply a message or narrative? Does it answer a question?
The outcome that appeals to me the most would be movement or interaction between the person holding the object and the sensor and the object itself. I am also very interested in the perfect lighting. The reason for the lighting is because the glass needs to be lit in order for this piece to work. If this object were to be displayed, the person displaying the object would have to be moving around a large place with minimal lighting or have lighting with certain temperatures hitting just the glass as the person displaying the object moves around the dark space. Only the object would be seen from far away. There would be no direct message about what the object means but instead the object is just a mere extension of the person. The object will be moving and directly interacting with the object. Whatever the person displaying the object wants to portray, that becomes the meaning of the object.
4. Mix and match three different scenarios, choosing for each: 1) a means for interacting, 2) tactile qualities, 3) the essential vehicle for interaction (light, sound, etc.) and 4) an outcome.
One scenario for this object is to have the person interacting with the object place it in their hands and move around with it. The person would hold onto the glass object and use it to emphasize their movements in a dark room. The viewer would only be able to see the object. The object would be tactile in the sense that it could fit within the person’s hand. Light and movement are essential vehicles for interaction because the outcome is supposed to be that depending on how the person interacting with the piece moves, different colors, heightened by the light shined onto it, are supposed to be shown.
Another scenario is that the object is reshaped to fit onto a string that swings around the space. The object would have different grooves and textures to it and is enlarged to fit the space it is contained within. The grooves would have different colors within them that depending on how the one light source hits the sphere, it will shine a different color and light up the darkened room. Due to the object being enlarged, the object is not very tactile because of its size but also because of its weight. I would imagine it being very heavy. The string the object is attached to would be durable but also clear to not distract the viewer away from the object. Once again the essential vehicle for interaction would be light and but this time, movement would not be as big of a deal. Although the light has to hit it just right for it to change different colors, the sound is what is going to be controlling the string’s movements and directing the movement of the object. The outcome is the object lighting up the room and creating different shapes and colors within the space.
The last scenario with the object is to have the multiples of the same object throughout the center of a room. Like the previous scenario, the object would be controlled by sound but instead of lights hitting it to make it change colors, the sound will be making it change colors. A sensor would be placed inside the glass objects and will detect different songs and vibrations emitted from loud speakers throughout the room. The colors would change color depending on the style of music. A viewer would still not be able to hold the object because they would be centered in the middle of the room clustered together and mounted. The outcome of this scenario would be that viewers could change the style of the music and move around the space. Their shadows would create different shapes and interact with the vibrating colors reflected on the wall.
5. Finally, can you find meaning in each of these scenarios? Do they reveal something? Do they make a statement? Is there an element of surprise?
There is no exact meaning for each of these scenarios. The scenarios would mainly reveal how we interact with our bodies and how people feel about certain colors emitted from the objects. Each scenario, although altered, all deal with how people interact with the object and how they move around the space with the object. The purpose of these objects is to feel how the colors, the lights, and the sounds are an extension of one’s body. A person is supposed to feel as though the colors are a reflection of their moods and the movements they create around the object are reflected onto the wall, creating shadows dancing on the colors reflected on the wall. If a viewer were to only look at the wall, all they would see are shadows dancing on color or a shadow dancing with color. In a way, there is an element of surprise because the surprise is once again how someone interacts with the glass ball and how they interact with the colors. There is no repetition of the piece besides the object itself so there are no repetitive outcomes.
