Not gonna lie I think "media literacy" based accusations have quickly devolved into name-calling that means nothing and completely fails to address the core points of the disagreeing perspectives

#thoughts #and I say this as someone who teaches narration #and desperately tries to speedrun media literacy to young adults who either were never told properly or forgot or ???#lacking the skills to engage with media *is a thing*#(and it's completely morally neutral btw --like it's very important skills but it's not an insult)#but more often than not if people are capable of identifying themes or character motivations in fiction they have media literacy #they are just reaching different conclusions #(not saying I think all conclusions are equal or that everybody is correct I don't think that)#(but more often than not media literacy specifically isn't the problem)
