adding to the 'ghost' lore is that depending on the system your library uses, you may not have a ghost account for that purpose. (Tho i haven't found a library that doesn't have a generic 'staff' account of some kind for its various OTHER uses)

some software has 'in-house check in' which will add the books to the stats of 'it was read in the library' without having to check out and then check in a book. Which is also really useful when a book is designated non-circulating but still publicly available.
