Yarn for Christmas?
An open PSA to anyone with crafting friends (and isn't really sure what they like):
DON'T BUY THEM YARN
Part of the hobby is the purchasing yarn, which some might argue buying yarn and using yarn are two different hobbies. "But OP," you might argue, "I just know they'll love the Red Heart Super Saver I got on sale at Joann's! One skein should be plenty, and they can make me a sweater!"
This is one of those rare cases where a gift card to their favorite yarn store is more personal. First off, nothing against Red Heart, but if they're a yarn snob, it's going to collect dust. If they're a project-oriented purchaser, it's going to collect dust. If they like to buy yarn, then it's just mean.
Also, NEVER imply that your crafting friend should make something for you. If they love you, they will. If they don't, then you're not close enough to be making expensive demands.

Do you have any tips for starting to work with deities? There’s a lot of info and it’s kinda overwhelming.
I feel like deity work is something I sort of blundered my way into and ran with it, so I can't provide anything too in depth, and I know it's an experience that will be different for different people. But here's some things I've picked up in my personal practice and experience.
Start small. I know when I was a kid, I didn't have a lot of information. I found a list of various deities and wanted to find a way to work with all of them, without knowing anything about them really beyond your generic "So and so is the deity of this thing." So, I would definitely recommend against rushing into things and taking on too much. Get to know the deities, learn their stories, etc. Sometimes you might find a connection with you had previously never thought of.
Adding to that first point, don't try to work with too many at once. I feel like it's like learning most things: if you try to do too much before you're familiar enough with it, you might get overwhelmed or discouraged. Start by working with one deity. Learn about them, talk to them, call on them, leave them offerings. As you get more comfortable, you will find it easier to work with multiple deities.
Look for signs. These aren't always the same for everyone, but sometimes you will feel a deity reach out to work with you. Hera and Hecate both reached out to me in my active practice, and in both cases I couldn't shake the sudden desire to work with them. A former friend worked with Artemis because she would see deer in her yard and feel an undeniable connection to divinity.
It's okay to be the one to reach out to a deity. I've seen advice about how the deities should always be the ones to choose you. Maybe that's true with some deities, but, at the very least, not all. Some are absolutely happy when you make the first move. I sometimes feel like Hestia was always with me, and she was just politely waiting for me to invite her in.
Deities are allowed to say no! This is a big one. I've seen people get discouraged because they worked with a deity in spellwork, but they didn't the result they wanted. A few vented about how they'd never work with that deity again. It can be easy to fall into mindset, especially when it's something you had really set your heart on. But sometimes it just means the universe has a different plan for you. A good example was when I appealed to Aphrodite again and again in hopes of getting back with my ex, but I think she knew that he and I were destined for a more platonic love (he's still my dearest friend to this day), and that my soul mate was, in fact, 600 miles away. Deities don't say "no" as way to punish us, but as a way of guiding us. (But it's valid to feel disappointed and such when those moments happen. We are only human).
Offerings are nice, but I think the gods understand that they can't always be promised. I see people steer clear of deity worship because they aren't able to leave physical offerings for one reason or another (not able to light incense in an apartment, having to hide their practice, finances make buying that extra little treat impossible). Offerings don't always have to be physical. A prayer or little note of gratitude goes a long way. Plus acts of devotion are an offering (self care days for Aphordite, spending a little extra time tidying the kitchen for Hestia, being scared but doing the thing anyway for Ares).
Don't compare your journey with deities to others. I think this is the biggest piece of advice younger me needed in all aspects of things. But definitely applies here. If someone works exclusively with one deity, has a whole altar dedicated to them, and has devoted their life to that deity? Hell yeah. That's great. If someone else feels a more casual type of connection with their deities and talk to them like they're besties? Unconventional, but everyone's path is different. It may come naturally to you, or you may find yourself still having to double-check things five years later. Do what works for you, whatever that may look like.
And finally, one of the most important things to keep in mind: not all deities are open. If a deity belongs to a practice or pantheon that's closed to you, that means the deity is as well.
This wasn't as eloquent as I'd hoped, but I really hope it helps!

porch lights and fireflies
reader/moon, word count 600
Your socked feet quietly stalk along the hardwood. Groggily trying to evade triggering the call of creaky floors. Led between the cracks of unpolished maple right up to the wide open doorway.
Gaze not deceiving you for once. Moon sat alone on the porch, huddled into himself. So often darting away from you, you half expect his nimble limbs to straight up and bolt away from you into the forest.
Polite statement radiating hollow, you could do better than that. Sitting down next to him, the squeak of protest from worn down steps earning you a twitch of his faceplate.
But you're not getting your hopes up. "Hey," You say, barely above a murmur. Tightening the throw blanket wrapped around your shoulders. Hesitantly moving forward past the burn out porch lights. It shuffles further away from you, evading you entirely. But not running, not bolting. "Good to see you."
"go sleep." He tuts. Tone lacking the heeded warning it usually had. No walled in corridors anymore to chase you in, free reign surrounding you. Left fumbling on if that had been the reason you've barely seen him since the 'Plex. Sun having no answers, and leaving assurances in place of words you'd just needed to hear.
If it's more freedom he'd wanted, that they'd both wanted, you'd be more than happy to oblige. More than happy to help if they'd just stopped reverting back to old habits. Shutting you out of whatever was happening.
"Go charge." You settle on. Sliding ever so slightly closer to him proves to be a mistake. Balancing himself half off the top step at this point, goosebumps of shame prickling along your neck. Face flush as you pull back again. "Sorry-.. I just- I missed you—"
Words crumbling out into the open air. Brisk crispy breeze cupping your cheeks, as you hear another squeak. Much too sharp to emit from wood, but, there's no solace to be had if your fretting breaks the stairs. Facing his direction upright, you catch him holding a throw blanket bundled in his lap. Little time to really question it.
"I couldn't sleep, doesn't look like you could either. I—"
The folded bundle on their lap, rustling and squeaking. Their widened eyes meeting yours, clutching the displeased creature tighter.
In the end, little feisty claws are no match for his clutches. A raccoon, bolts from under the covers and out into the open. Blurry haze of fur illuminated by startled, scattered fireflies.
Statute no longer hunch, sprawled out along the steps in woeful defeat. That solves one problem.
You know the answer. You know.
"You were trying to bring that inside?" You ask anyway, deadpan.
"it's small, and alone." He mumbles. "likes peach slices." That. Explains why the peaches kept going missing, and Sun's insistence the fruit just goes bad super duper quick. Yet, refused to quit buying heaps of peaches.
"It's got friends nearby," Leaning against the worn banister. "I'm sure of it."
Moon hums. An off centered acknowledgement it hears you, but. He's absolutely going to keep trying to bring raccoons into the house. No dice convincing him otherwise. Roaming around the yard, settling to lay down on a patch of overgrown grass. Gaze trailing sleepily between the stars.
"Is that what you've been doing out here, all this time?"
"sometimes."
Crawling over, nestled up against your side in an impressive but entirely unnecessary half roll to get to you. Faceplate pressed flat to the ground, theatrically slumping himself down. Like his whole body had participated in a sigh.
A click somewhere in his upper casting, chiming alongside you as you'd giggled. Something tells gauges this had been an impatient attempt to whisk the creature inside.
"We should name it," Names spurring immediately to mind, but you hadn't swaddled it like a baby. Didn't think that gave you any real leeway. "The raccoon." You add.
Muffled voice eventually piping up from the twilight grass blades. "peaches.”

Hi! I went through your FAQ and didn't see a direct answer this this, but how do you go about actually obtaining a peafowl? How much do they usually cost per bird?
Up front, I can only speak to USA practices, so if you live elsewhere the answer may not be the same.
I'll answer the second part first since it's "easier," or maybe I should say, slightly more concrete, and the answer is: it depends on what you want, and how capable you are of caring for it. I have seen day old blues from backyard breeders go for as little as $15, but unless you really have a handle on what to expect and how to care for them, you will almost certainly be responsible for the death of a day old peachick and waste the money. I have watched an online auction for an ultramarine yearling go for $6,800, but that's because that was a newly imported color from Europe that no one else had. A green - a true, pure green, not an American green that's actually a high green blood hybrid - will run you $5-10k depending on where you import from or who you're buying from that's imported themselves and tracked lineage. An American green will still run you a couple thousand, but more like $2k than $6k. Your average adult blue will run $80-200, but I've watched blue hens go for $400 at auction. Color/pattern mutations will run $150-800 typically, for "common" colors, depending on their quality and whether they're a nice looking hybrid (blue + green species), but I've seen nice morphs go for $35 at auction. I say this because auctions can be great on some days and terrible on others and you would need to know average prices for the color and/or pattern you want, to know if you're getting a deal or getting hosed.
But regardless of a $15 chick or an $800 silver pied platinum Spalding, the expense on them actually comes mainly from the cage- the minimum (and I do mean minimum literally not pretty owners of YouTube outrageous claim of minimum), flight pen size is 500 square feet with no side shorter than 12 feet long (to accommodate trains and allow the birds past you without injuring themselves, and 8 feet tall to allow for a 5-6 perch the males can get on to clean their trains. Every bird must also have 150sq/ft, so 500 will hold 3, but not 4, you'd need 600 for 4. But with peafowl, bigger is better- the more space they have to move around (and thus away from you) the closer they are willing to come to you, because they feel like they can safely get away again. The minimum size is also not optional if you want to maintain healthy birds- they're extremely susceptible to parasites and bacteria often found in raw soil, and even to just... Getting dirt in their face and getting infected sinuses. Minimizing their ability to access dirt by growing in grass and cover crop plants like clover is the single greatest step you can take to protect their health. And this doesn't even include the coop, which is minimum 8x8x6 to protect them and their trains. With the price of lumber, wire, and netting, this will easily run you a few thousand, but it's by far the safest way to keep them, especially the hens, who otherwise tend to get eaten by predators when they set a nest while free ranging. It's also the only way to ensure they don't just leave, because they are game fowl like pheasants, not like chickens, and you can't just toss them in the yard and expect they'll stay. Occasionally they do, but largely they don't.
To answer your first question... It depends on where you live. Most USA states have livestock auctions and bird swap meets- your best bet to acquire local birds is to find those but how to find them... Well. You kind of just have to luck upon them or hope a web search turns them up, if they're even advertised online, on publicly accessible places. There are bigger breeders around the USA that will ship birds if you're looking for something specific you can't find locally, but you'll be looking at a $350+ shipping bill. You can join peafowl groups on Facebook and try to find locals, or contact the UPA (United peafowl association) to get a breeder directory but that's only people who have paid to be in the club, which honestly doesn't do much anymore. You can also, if you know of one breeder, ask if they know other breeders. A good breeder should at least be able to say 'if I don't have what you're looking for, you can try this other person/people.' alternately there's ebay and craigslist, although I wouldn't trust the former because you can only sell eggs, and peafowl hatching eggs are a big fucking waste of money, typically speaking. They're extremely finicky eggs to hatch and most people prefer to let broodies hatch when they can, because they don't hatch well in incubators.

some big retail conspiracy i can't even fathom
So we'll take competitor coupons at my work. We do this because we don't want someone going to another store and buying items we sell at that other store. If you wake up, see a good coupon, think of something you'd like to buy with it, and it gets you in the store, then it was worth it. People who come in the store will generally come back to our store, with or without the coupon. My store is, let's be honest, really fucking cool, and getting someone in the door once usually gets them to come back, and often leads to them upgrading their machine for a new one that does a ton of things that they never even imagined a sewing machine could do. It's also incredibly valuable to us to be a place where people come in and find things that make them happy. Much, much more than a large business does, we benefit when people enjoy being in our store.
So yes, we take competitor coupons.
There's just two problems.
One is Green Craft Store. Green Store can sell most of their items for 60% off the marked price, and they will still have enough money off that item to pay the cost of them obtaining the item, as well as the employee labor overhead for running the store, the overhead for rent and electricity, etc. When we sell something for 60% off our marked price, we're giving the customer the item for less money than we paid for the item. That's not counting paying employees or rent or electricity or any of the other things that cost a store money. We outright lose money.
Now, as someone who worked at Green Store for way too many years, Green Store has an elaborate system to ensure that items they can't sell at 60% off and turn a profit on will never be sellable at 60% off. Everyone's gone into Green Store to use a 60% off coupon on an item, just to find that it's already on a sale for 25% off (and no, you cannot override a sale to put a coupon on, you haven't been able to do that since 2012, and that is the POINT of if being on sale is specifically to prevent you from using the coupon). We don't have anything on sale, because all of our items that Green Store also sells, we're selling for 40% less than Green Store. We don't have an elaborate scam sale system to protect the store's bottom line while making you think you're still saving money. Instead of that, we just save you money. We think it's generally better that way.
The other thing we don't have is the Craft Store Coupon Interchange. If y'all noticed that recently a lot of craft stores stopped taking competitor coupons, that's because Green Store stopped tipping the other big craft stores off about what coupons would be used when, so that the other companies can also put low-markup items on sale to ensure that they don't lose money on them to accepting Green Store coupons. So Red Store and Jesus Store stopped taking competitor coupons, because they didn't have the info they needed to protect themselves from Green Store 60% off coupons. I assume this information went both ways, because Red Craft Store never had a 60% off coupon during a time when Green Store had a 25% off total purchase, and there's no way that never even happened on accident.
So we don't have the internal system Green Store has to protect itself from itself, and we don't have the system that the big craft stores have to protect themselves from each other. What do we do instead?
So, mostly we just suck it up and eat the cost. We can easily look at customers' past purchases, and if you've bought a $9000 sewing machine and then come in every month to get $600 of thread, we will probably sell any fabric or notion to you at any price if it gets you in the door. If you're an impulse buyer who comes in to get some pattern weights and then you see all our cool fabric and you buy six yards, we'll sell you those pattern weights at probably any kind of loss. If you bought a machine from us and haven't been back, if taking a Green Store coupon makes sure that you remember what our store has in it, and lets us get a chance to talk to you about taking classes, upgrading the machine, or getting a second companion machine, we'll sell you that $60 thing you wanted at a loss. If it gets you in the store and you go, "Oh, I didn't know you also sold vacuums and did repair and offered classes," then it's worth a small loss on an item, if it can get you to come back and buy something at our (very reasonable) full price later. We'll happily take a loss on a smaller thing if it sets firm groundwork for making a larger sale later. This is literally why we take the Green Store coupon.
But there's some people, and I know all of them by sight now, who only come in to use a Green Store 60% off coupon on 5-7 yards of fabric. They don't buy anything else. We literally just lose money when they come in the store, and over time, we've lost a lot of money to them. So every once in a while, I'll mention something like, "Oh yeah, they keep thinking about revising the coupon system, since we're selling this to you at a loss," very casually. And then I just hope that they recognize that they're doing something unsustainable for the store. Sometimes this also works because someone else in the store, someone who realizes we need money to stay open because we're a small business, who hears that taking a coupon like that damages the store. If that person then happens to give the coupon user a dirty look, well, that's just the consequence of talking out loud, right? Anyway, we're a small business, and we're allowed to mention to someone that we have needs different from the Walmart of Craftland.
Anyways, I'm telling this long story because one of our regular couponators said something today that's just absolutely baffled me. She asked my manager if she could order some fabric for her so that she could buy it with her coupon, and my manager (much more tactfully than I would have) said that no, because we're not in the business of losing money, and we lose money on this coupon deal unless the user came in to get multiple items. And this customer looks my manager dead in the face and goes, "But you get it back when you turn the coupons into Joann, right?"
And I'm still fucking floored.
I have no idea
no idea
how on earth
she believes this business model works
I want to ask so many questions. What happens when we turn the coupons into Green Store? What do we get back? Is it money? What is their motivation for giving us money? Is it as a thank you for taking their business away? Thank you for stealing our customer. Have some money. What is happening here? How does this happen? Where does this highway go?
Anyway, if you or anyone you know thinks that a store that takes competitor coupons gets money from the competitor for making customers not go to that competitor, please tell me how you think or previously thought that worked. I'm genuinely curious.

Today was a naf day
Did my walk, completely ran out of steam 600 yards from home. I didn't feel in pain or exhausted, it was more vague. The sense that I just could not do a single step more. So I went single step by single step and about a minute from home realised I was in pain and it was so overwhelming it wasn't registering.
Got home and horizontal. And the picture got clearer. Swollen feet, sore joints but mostly a searing pain in my shoulder blade leading to a strong dull ache in the head. Somehow the headache turned all the pain signals blurry just like my vision and hearing. So I put myself in the dark with a fan as noise machine and waited. Needed to eat and felt slightly better so put on the computer to watch an episode of tv. while I waited for it to load, heard the sound of our traditional rainwatch and the roommates getting hailed on! Then the lights flickered, computer restarted then power cut out.
So I went back to bed.
M asked me to print something so I start up the computer and it goes into restart loop. Boot missing. Bootrec.exe fixboot access denied
Bootrec scanOS: no windows installations?
I do the regback registry backup but it's empty because windows 10 has disabled it.
I've finally found a (complex) potential fix and the computer beeps three times and won't display.
Youtube has a minute long fix, it means your ram is fried.
Tomorrow is a huge day, I've been preparing for weeks to test the limits of my social anxiety, how to not damage my neck in a car, how long I can be out before a POTS episode.
I'm also going to have to decide whether to buy new ram or replace my computer and stick my harddrive in a new one. Because that computer is my accessibility device. My throbbing head wants to hibernate for a month (well not hibernate since hiber is winter but you know what I mean) and not have to google how to test the ram sticks one by one, not have to look at specs for computers. Absolutely not have to deal with windows 11 privacy nightmare edition.
Never rains but it pours (and hails!)
I have my darling dog, I've been putting money aside for computer or phone replacement as both have shown signs of age. I've got a supportive family. But tomorrow I need to smile through a stiff headache and hope I'm home before light and sound become unbearable. With worry about the work involved in repairing or getting a new computer asap: compulsively on the brain (it's one of those things I can't be without so saying I'll handle it Thursday won't work, this stupid brain is going through the flowchart of fixing and if not what is my budget despite my efforts to say we can manage for a few days.)
Being able to set priorities on thoughts is a highly underrated feature. I'm so grateful it works half the time.

Why Preconstruction is a Top Choice for Condo Buyers in North York
Tumblr media
The condo market in North York is pretty mind-blowing these days. You see high-rise towers, luxury amenities, and prices to match. It's enough to make the most optimistic buyer to invest. That's what makes pre construction condos North York such an attractive option for savvy property buyers in this sizzling Toronto suburb.
Easier and Affordable Buying Experience
The math doesn't lie - you're almost always going to get way more bang for your buck purchasing a pre-construction unit versus resale in North York. By buying during the initial launch and construction phase, you lock in pricing at today's rates. Later on, those values increase once the building is ready.
Take a new launch in the booming Yonge & Sheppard area for example. Pre-construction prices for a 700 sq ft 1-bed might start in the $600s, while similar aged resale units are listing for $700k+. That's potentially six-figure savings just by getting in early! No wonder pre-con North York condos appeal to so many first-time buyers.
You are the First Owner
Buying pre-con means you're the very first person to live in your condo. Literally, everything is freshly built just for you. We're talking new appliances, untouched finishes, the whole nine yards. No sketchy former tenant leftover smells or stains to worry about.
Plus, a bounty of modern amenities come standard in today's pre-construction projects. Developers are really raising the bar for resort-inspired living.
Of course, the customization factor is another major draw. Most pre-con allows you to select your own finishes like flooring, countertops, and cabinets rather than being stuck with the previous owner's taste. Yeah, those upgrades come at a premium, but having a brand new space truly designed to your specifications is priceless for many buyers.
What's the Deal with North York?
Now let's talk about why people are clamoring for those pre construction condos North York specifically. This former suburb has absolutely boomed into a legit Toronto hotspot brimming with world-class amenities, shopping, dining and more.
Areas like Yonge & Sheppard are about as central as it gets. It gives a thriving downtown vibe fueled by new condo developments, office space, retail and subway accessibility. In a couple of decades, places like this will be the new midtown cores of Toronto.
Other neighborhoods like Willowdale provide that perfect balance of urban energy and residential tranquility. You've got lush parks and hiking trails and easy access to major highways without living smack dab downtown.
Value Proposition is a Big Plus
For many smart buyers looking for North York condos, the pros of finding an affordable pre-construction unit in a priority. Especially when you bring in a savvy agent experienced with pre-con contract nuances to advocate for you through the process. The combination of pricing, customization, and shiny new everything is just tough to beat.
One thing's for sure - developers can't hurry in pre construction condos North York fast enough to keep up with ravenous demand. If you're dreaming of owning a home near Toronto, pre-con may just be your golden ticket to the real estate jackpot.

Financial rant incoming
So the electricity payment was over due and I was trying to wait until tomarrow when husband gets payed but the power went out and I assumed it was because we were behind. I called the power company and they said there were wide spread outages, I assume because of the storm the other day. I payed our bill with the only credit card that had any credit avaliable including paying a $60 reconnection fee and the power came back on almost immediately. But then it went out again about 30 min later. So I thought maybe the card was declined even though it seemed to go through at first. I called the electric company again and it is still saying we just owe next months bill and I opened the statement for the credit card and confirmed there was enough credit avaliable so I called and reported it as an outage... The timing seems weird though, I guess they could have had to shut off or power or could have accidentally knocked it out while working on the other outages but what are the odds of that happening the same day they cut off our electricity for non-payment? If it is still a matter of it taking time to get it reconnected after they disconnected it then why did it could back on it the first place?
I'm so looking forward to next month when:
I will be back to work and even though I'm only going to be working two days a week it's over a thousand dollars a month
We will no longer be paying 600+ a month for B's school (he is in the 3k but it isn't government funded so it operates like daycare, he really needed the socialization so 🤷)
Oldest brother is getting the paperwork finished to separate the house from the trust and buy it. He is going to pay us our portion in free rent for 3 years (if we want to move out before that he'll pay us the rest of what he owes us. It comes down to the equivalent of just over 800 a month in rent and you can't even rent a one bedroom for that.) So once the paperwork goes through we won't have to pay rent anymore.
We need to sell the Traverse. I wanted to just sell it back to the dealership but they wouldn't buy it because there is a recall on it with no fix (its something to do with the airbag and the airbag company and the car company are arguing about who's fault it is.) I'm tempted to keep it around just for trips because I don't know how we are going to manage the drive to Missouri with two kids, two dogs, two cats, and all our stuff in the equnox. We l might have to board the dogs but that costs $$$ and since they don't do boarding at the clinic anymore I can no longer board them for free plus it's nice to take them down there because the in-laws have a fenced in yard and we can let the dogs run loose. Are yard is so big there's no way you could fence the whole thing. I thought about doing an invisible fence but I'm pretty sure Tink would just blast through it so fast she wouldn't even notice the shock. But she is starting to calm down a little (i mean, she is 10) so maybe we could get away with it now...

11/17/2024: My new certified homeless life which I purposely chose for my own happiness even though God (the Sun for now or Jesus' father not Jesus per the Bible) gave me an little cute apartment with a tiny yard for so cheap $1,100 in the Silicon Valley in the area where I currently live. I got information on this cheap apartment by helping out the vietnamese elderly man who didn't seem to appreciate that I was going to give him $500 everything to reduce his rent to only $600 a month to live in this apartment and out of the car life even though he has retirement. Sheesh, at least a tiny thank would suffice. Anything, I am not going to be dumb and let homeless push me around. If he calls back and want the apartment , and if I become a millionaire with a lottery, I am going to punish his insincerity by reducing down to $250. I was even going to grand him a studio condo that he can own if I win my lottery, but I changed my mind to only grand him $250/month to help pay for his rent. That s good enough even housing authority accepts subsiding his rent. It's hard to get humans to say thank you nowadays, even homeless humans. All I expect is a thank you for my generous offer and I will reward humans with such happiness, but their egos won't allow them to say it even though they are getting cash for free for life. Oh well, now I understand the psychology of humans and I will guard my generosity to death. He didn't even utter a tiny soLuckily,I can parked in front of a garage with closed gate so it's not as dangerous as being homeless in the street. I nearly became a real homeless in the street tonight but I lower my ego protect my happiness. I will be homeless in the car for 5 days a week and 2 days inside. A new business deal I made as a volunteering caregiver with mental illness which can be hard to live with then I am angry. So conformy sleeping in a van this time comparing last time in a Nissan Leaf. It's exactly like camping, but I hate going to the bathroom at night. Trang at 51.16 years old. I think I can be cute now too to save my old wrinkles from getting too old. Since my life is very shady right now as a certified homeless living in a van, I am to pays making contacts with thr homeless right now since I have no money to offer them. I'll go rest my head and relax for a bit and focus on bitch slapping myself when I talk to train myself to be mute to protest. After all yapping and screaming when protest gets annoying and weak. Protest in silence is the greatest. I'll focus on my health by stretching my neck and head out of his pain to prepare for the return of the Palestinian lawsuit in June. I'll go back to my Palestian work to prevent too many Gazan children from dying with Israeli's decision to assist the last place they don't bombed out: Rafah where 300,000 children are living there. Because of the availability of this cheap and safe apartment of $1,100 that is still available and came out during my mental episode as a mental and because of my effort to help the homeless Vietnamese elderly man,, I am more certain that there is a God (Jesus' father not Jesus per the Bible). I am dying for a good paying job to buy me small and safe condo with affordable payments. Dying. What's the chances of the mayor of Saint Joseph or San Jose hiring me with $500,000 per month, a far signing bonus as down payment for a condo in the Vietnamese ghetto, pension, and insurance as a part-time job working at home? Easy if I can solve his homeless problem which can kick Newsom out and make him governor of CA and even the president of America. Anyone I train will become great and happy leader for I am really that kind of teacher as the female Buddha. Too bad no one has chosen me and even kicked me out. Oh well, not everyone wants to be great happy leaders. This mayor might not be very nice to my Vietnamese people, but he is a no to Israeli genocide for Saint Joseph or San Jose supported a ceasefire when sna Francisco didn't. For that I'll forgive him

The Kilcher Homestead in Homer, AK
Sunday, June 27th, 2021
CAL - This week in the Room of Beds, the large, bald one and I enjoyed our regular routines for nearly 5 days in a row. Each morning Michele begrudgingly arose from one of the two beds, pushed open the curtains, and started her day. I spend most of my days on bed #1, where I creepily hover in the background of video calls while staring right into the web camera. Once I get bored, I move to bed #2 where I watch the most fascinating activities through our 3rd story window. I am starting to arrive at the conclusion that a room can never really have too many beds.
When the weekend finally rolled around, I braced myself for the extra attention that I knew I would surely receive, however, to my complete and utter surprise, Michele suddenly up and left. She had a very small bag in tow, so I estimated that she would be gone for one or two nights at the most.
Before I knew it, Sunday evening was upon me and I had really started to miss her. Just as I started to lose hope, I heard the unmistakable click of the door unlocking. I tried to contain myself, but instead, I let out a series of meows so emphatic, that the large, bald one dropped her bags and ran to greet me.
Tumblr media
MICHELE - The weekend started with a mad rush to get onto the road to Homer at a reasonable hour on Friday afternoon. I finally left Anchorage by 5pm and enjoyed the entire 4.5 hour drive doused in sunlight. You gotta love the Alaskan sun.
Upon arrival, I carefully followed the instructions to my tiny cabin on the Kilcher Family Homestead. You know are going deep into nature when the directions only reference a series of hills and forks in the road. When I finally get to the end, I am facing a magnificent yurt overlooking Kachemak Bay. The yurt belongs to Stellavera Kilcher, one of the eight children who own and run the 600-acre homestead. Later I’ll learn that she has appeared on a Discovery TV show about her family and is an aunt to singer, and songwriter Jewel.
I wait patiently in front of the yurt, per my instructions. Also, I really have no choice in the matter, it’s not like I can just pop over to Starbucks or something. Eventually, Stellavera calls, apologizing profusely for being late to meet me.
Around 10:30pm I finally get settled into my cabin, with plenty of daylight to spare. The view from this property is stunning and I stare lovingly out the front door until I can barely keep my eyes open.
The next morning I was treated to a tour of the homestead where I learned about the charter of the land which is to provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth for the community. The family crest is a series of symbols that translates into stewards of the land for the church. Stellavera tells several charming stories about growing up on the homestead and surviving winters in Alaska.
Next, I head into town to enjoy a quaint farmer's market and a stroll on the Homer Spit. I found a little sweater store called the Better Sweater and wanted to buy everything there. After what felt like an hour I finally settled on the perfect sweater and the shop owner asked if I lived somewhere cold. “No, definitely not!” I say and we both laugh as I pay my $99 for my Alaskan sweater souvenir. For a late lunch, I bought some fish tacos from a truck called the Tickled Pear and found a nice piece of driftwood where I watched the boats mosey back into the harbor from the bay.
Later, back at the homestead, I walk down to a private beach and feel like I am the last human on the planet. I try to take a few pictures, but my camera can not fully capture the moment.
For dinner, Stellavera cooks me and 2 other guests a small feast of salmon, sweet potatoes, and wild greens from her front yard.
The next morning I do not want to leave. Eventually, I drag myself back up to Anchorage forging my way through the weekend traffic. When I arrive home, Cal is very happy to see me. He always brings a ray of sunshine to my day.
