the bad makeover is literally her mom's fault in the mexican adaptation. they were like, 'low self esteem? and inwards fear of change? no. we're gonna blame it on her mom'. very mexican actually.
#they have julieta go with her and every step of the way she interferes#the nails? the hair? the stylist is crying bc julieta wont let him do anything#julieta was literally like 'dont cut her hair and dont make her nails like that her dad wont like that'#and now she's a green monstrosity#like yes betty dresses like her mom its just what she knows and i do blame her parents to an extent but julia never had bad intentions#and betty holds no resentment bc she herself knows deep down she holds herself back#this however feels particularly evil#point of the bad makeover is that ur incentive to change shouldn't be for other ppl#she's literally doing it for him and thats why it goes wrong#so the intention is still there but in this adaptation they needed to give angelica maria something to do#but it plays more into how controlling her parents are as opposed to lety's inwardly fear of change
