its because theyre the closest thing the fandom has to twinks and fandoms explode if they cant ship two little skinny guys or something
I finished Super Paper Mario earlier today for the first time after 16 years of owning and adoring the game and
I have a question for any Limentio / Dimigi shippers out there.
Why
#sorry my friend sent this to me and we both laughed bc likeđ€yeah same. anyway this is my mean and mostly true answer#my answer where i give people benefit of the doubt is- (and i apologise for the length lol)#a lot of people are already drawn to spm because ofthe whole 'its the darkest mario game' and the high stakes of it#so getting to explore a fan favourites âdark sideâ is something people are already interested in- which is why mr l is so popular#and then dimentio usurping count bleck and in a lot of peopels eyes like 'being the chessmaster' gives him a layer of danger and intruigue#which is why he's so popular too. then u put these two 'heehee dark themes- high stakes' cocepts together into super dimentio#people lose their minds. they see it as a window to explore a dark side of a beloved character- with dmentio being a sort of corrupter i th#then it spirals from there into....whatever the hell they do with them. i dont get the fluff lol#personally i think that 'idk i get gay vibes from them and maybe somethig happened in the time they worked together' isnt like...#idk its a bit of a leap but its not the wildlest leap this fandom has made. people do 'heehee they hate each other- enemies to lovers' a lo#but i think i ur gonna do that u really need to own the ick of it. examine what it means#the 'guys. luigi isnt...himself right now he is literally hypnotised' like if ur gonna use that to further their charcters#by using it as a device to show dimetio cutting his bridges with people and deciing he's gonan hurt everyone aroudn him and do what he want#and then use it later for luigi to have to recover from and examine- both the trauma of being taken advantage of in such a moment#and 'why was hypnotised me about that. why did he go along with it' etc like idk i can respect that. bc its not abt the romance#its abt what it does to them and says abt them#BUT THE CRUCIAL THIGN IS YOU CAN GET THAT FROM OTHER PAIRINGS TOO!!!!!#you want to explore dimentio deeply hurting and manipulating someone to see how far he's falling? o chunks. floro sprout#you want luigi angst about him getting hypnotised and recovering from that. NASTASIA DID IT FIRST!!!#but o chunks is a big ole bear and nastasia is a woman and the fandom just arent into them. they have the least attention by far#and at the end ofthe day a lot of fans will go back to the guys theyre into- which...is usually the skinny twinks#i do NOT get dimigi outside of that shallow answer though im sorry. luigi just doesnt like him its entirely twink corruptign yaoi#or 'redeeming dimentio through luigi bc i want him to live or something'#also i say this as both a twink and a big enjoyer of mlm myself lol (and someone whos fave is dimentio)- it just doesnt make sense#i guess at my most charitable i could see- 'the person who dimentio hurt the most helpig him redeem himself' could be compellig#but that leading to romance doest interest me at all and also i think luigi deserves better than to have to reform that bastard lol#also i think its way more interesting if he never comes back lol i like the tragedy of it. he just hurts everyone around him#and then he's gone and they have to live with it#also side note if any shippers want to debate this with me i do not sorry <3 im giving my perspective then running thank u#mario

OC list of the MMO LESBIAN
SarapAlexandria Duvel <3 Vette
Sith Warrior
Human, brown short hair, 1,78, D cups, she likes dressin on armor that is bulkier than a tank or in a tank top and leggings. Dark eyes and light skin
Lesbian. LOVES toys in bed
Headcannons
Has a personal Dreagnough that she uses as a colliseum. She has taken into training new sith in combat. More than her apprentices they are more of gladiators for her to fight.
Kinda crazy. Likes to bounce around and do Tons of damage. She is feroucios about defending the Empire and believes that the republic is doomed. Has archived the impossible more than a dozen times so no plan is to crazy or stupid for her. Gratefully, her wife knows what is too stupid or too crazy and so she fixes those plans so her big sith girl can go fight monsters and other people.
Married Vette. Only she can make her laught so much that she forgets she is angry. The tiny girl is so adorable and so cute and jsut so horny for Alexandria that the two of them spend 3 months on a horny induced honeymoon. Even now after the war with zakuul they keep having more honeymoons whenever they get the chance.
She wasnt all that hurt by Quinns betratal. Like, hey man fatman told you to kill me so no biggie- But from now on you are my bitch and i will bully you over all this k?
Jaesa kinda bugs her. She is Dark side but not SO crazy but still she is kinda...tiny. Alexandria likes to challenge her to crazy stuff and she always gets on trouble with her, but Jaesa is so young and sometimes weak thatÂ
Pierce is her best freind. A total madman when it comes to battle, a blootthirsty man that will not doubt in choosing violence but also super trusthworthy and she knows he will stop her from getting killed in stupid ways
For her Broonmark is her fluffy monster! Just point release and watch blood by spilled. She makes him shower after every bottle and use proucts on his hair cause she likes how soft he gets.
She remains a free agent causing chaos everywhere. She is not quick to kill always tho. If she got a good fight with someone she will usually let them live so they can fight again.
She is the most sexually proactive girl around. She will get every pair of cute or hot tiddies on a bed along side Vette. She is a bit dom and doesnt like playing sub, but she will play passive.
Master of Shien and Juyo, she likes to go crazy with a lightsaber and destroying the place but doesnt really like dual wielding
Seraphine <3 Temple
Sith Agent. New code name: Specter
Cyborg, mostly internal components on her eye, brain and bones. 1,96M, Long hair, usually red but she likes dying it. C cups, She wishses to get more tits but she has to be stealthy. She likes using loose clothes with lots of cleavege. She isnt a fan of bras.
Lesbian Switch. Likes bondage and public stuff. She can and will play any part on roleplay. From the scared virgin to the cruel dominatrix
Headcannons
A master of hidding on plain sight. Seraphine is the kind of woman who blends everywhere. She likes attention from the spotlight just to let it go 5 minutes later. She has the talent of being so likeable that any girl that gets close to her on bed, never gets mad with her for leaving or just going for another girl. She also has a perfect memory and will remember how you like to be touch, how much you moan or what kind of cnadies you like when you are on your days. She is as soft as she is Ruthless. She has never regret killing anyone for more than an hour. Unless she kils someone she has slept with she will pull the triger no matter what. This includes civilians, wounded and allies. After Chapter 3 she left the identity of Cypher 9 and became a shadow agent for the Empire. Her new code name: Specter.Â
After the War with Zakuul she was left on charge ofthe Alliance by Darth Nox. Both the Ex Imperial Wrath and the Supreme Huntress stayed behind with her.Â
She doesnt like Kaliyo. No. She is no fun. She likes to hurt and doesnt look after girls. She was particulary angry at her at the start because she would try to get on the way of her time with other girls. So Seraphine got Kaliyo a cute chasity belt and allowed her to focus on chaos outside the bedroom. That way they both can get what they want. Chaos and attention.
Vector is her special little guy. Confident. Trusthworthy. But really fun to mess up with. Seraphine tells him to do weird stuff just to get a laught at weird situation. She also helps him send money for Killik Joiners. She likes that he is simple
Lokin is a weird guy for Seraphine. He could do a lot of stuff with the ragkghoul virus but she likes that he is quiet and calm. She likes trying tea with him
Ensign Temple is the only girl that has kept Seraphine attention span for more than 1 night. She likes her a lot because she cant read her as well as other people and so she makes her angry just to learn more about her. She forgot how it felt to get to know someone through time and so she likes to keep her around. She also likes Temple is super organized and loyal
Seraphine can never choose fast between either a big rifle or a tiny blade under her dress. She likes how chaos erupts after a person gets shots down but she also likes to be close when her target takes their last breath
FUCK SCORPIO UwU
Arthemys Delos <3 Mako
Huntress
Built like a tank, She likes lifting Mako to train her big guns. She is a cyborg with lots of internal components and a cybernetic leg (left) She isnt the tallest girl, she is 169 (nice) but she has the biggest tiddies. She carries two E cups that she loves to put on Makoâs face. She has black short hair
LesbianÂ
Total top but wont say no to being topped every know and then
Headcannons
Money, gambling, explosions and pretty girls, Arthemis cares for little more than that. As long as she can fire guns, gamble money and have a bed with a pretty girl on it she will do an job. She loves hunting animals and will almost never reject a bounty. What she wont do, is just say yes to any quest or mission. She can get money as easy as she can waste it and so throwin credits at her doesnt work. Only if the work isnt something she dislikes or too easy or boring she will do it. She has a few internal implants after playing with grenades when she was young.
Mako is hers. Hers alone. She wont let her go beyon her sight and will actually get restless for being away from her too long. Arthemis is possesive which Mako kinda likes.
The two of them likes being on top of eachother as much as possible but a extra pair of hands or tiddies make them both pretty happy. Most of the time, is actually Mako who gets the girl.
Gault is jsut too fun not to keep around. Arthemis wouldnt call him his best friend becuase she suspects the guys can be bought but he is fun either way. She like getting a lot of money with him and then wasting it all or just not taking the pay, just to mess up with him.
Torian is fun. Sometimes. He is a mandalorian and she likes fighting strong people. But Torian is a bit more serious that she would like. She doesnt like people dying because then she cant fight them again and so she doesnt like some decisions of the mandalorian. But at the end of the day the trust that the two share is one of a brotherhood.
Blizz. God Damm Blizz. When Arthemis got Mako on her bed and then into her family she thought she coulnt be happier. She was wrong. The little jawa makes everything better. As chaotic as her and even weirder than Gault, Arthemis just cant stop keeping the jawa around
YOU READ MY COMMENT ABOUT SCORPIO? WELL THAT X2
Selendis likes using two big guns to shot down her enemies. She doesnt really enjoy going around in huge armor so she keeps herself kinda light. But her armor is still a bit big. Why you ask? Cause she loves the feeling of having not only a flamethrower but also grenades, missiles, hooks and electric weapons all stuffed in her body.Â
Selendis <3 Lana and Senya
Sith Inquisitor
Sith girl with piercing orange eus and long amazing black hair. She is 182 and as sith that focus on range combat, she took the luxury of enhancing her breasts to a nice DD cups. She doesnt like jewelry but she has a few tattoos.Â
Sorcerer
Lesbian. The one to dom them all.
No amount of girls is too much when it comes to Selendys
A proud, stylish and master manipulator Selendis believes that the empire can be improved but even in its current state is better than the republic. She is patient and ruthless and wont stop until the galaxy is back on order. She left the alliance and took overthe sith empire after letting Acina step down. Seriously, no killing her just âTry and stop me from getting the throneâ
Khem Val is her personal monster. A warrior of another time which she swears wont ever be forgotten. She has taken into redacting whatever information the dashade gives her. She has task him ith protecting everyone she deems worthy of her interest
Andronikos is a fun and interesting man. He is a pirate with experience and a code. Hard things to find. Selendis enjoys him being slipery and smartass. She also enjoys the acces to the underworld the man provides. Over all she likes that the betrayed man has once more put his trust on someone. She wont abuse it but she prides herself of it
Ashara. The little puppy. She has learn about the dark side and the sith and yet she keeps herself on a reaching point from the jedi order. Still she has a point of view that is useful and welcome. She has teached her everything useful that she could learnt.
Talos. Oh Talos. A men of science and interest. Selendis has swear to protect the smart man just so he can see for once history being made instead of being discovered. Most of the time she has free, she will spent researching stuff with Talos and discussing history
Xalek. Selendis attack dog. A simple desire of the young Kaleesh allowed Selendis to craft a magnificent Student. Xalek belived that she was a god. And so Selendis tasked Xalek to forget about being a kaleesh god, and instead become a sith god. Strength, power, and victory.
Lana Beniko. From the first time Selendis met Lana she was intrigue. A sith that kept her rage and hate deep withing her, so she could serve the empire better. Selendis wasted no time in seducing the sith and keeping her under her control. But soon Selendis lost control and ended up loving her. Lana became her source of power. She would burn the galaxy for her. She also fancid her cute ass and the way she lost control.
Senya Tirall. Selendis doesnt do well with betrayal. And so after defeating Arcann, she was left quite angry when Senya saved him. So, after the war with Zakuul, Selendis threw Senya into a prison and slowly made her crumble. Telling her that both Arcann and Vaylin were death, Offering herself as the only ally, and then leaving her alone. Selendis broke Senya and put her back together in a way that she would enjoy. Despite being more of a pet than a lover, Selendis does love her in her wn special way, and wont let her be hurt.
REPUBLIC OCS
Cassandra (Cassie) Jedi Knight <3 kIRA She tiny! She is 165, amber eyes,C cups she likes to hide on a sport bra and to fight, she has a few scars over her back and shoulder (horny origin) She specialies on Djem So but likes using two lightsbaers instead of one Lesbian Total Bottom girl. Tsundere (will be all agressive but you pet her once and she will melt on your arms)
T7-01 The crimemaster, Teseven will always be there to push Cassie towards any female individual just so Cassie can stop winning about not having a girlfriend. Each time it works, but Cassie ends up lossing the contact or getting pulled out from plannet by the council
Kira. Or like Cassie likes to call her, babe! Cassie was sweap of her feat by how chaotic her padawan was an how incredible persistent she was on taking baths together, giving eachother massages and just being close. Cassie lasted 2.6 seconds the first time she gave her a kiss and fron that day on, she is either fighting or on her girlfriendâs arms. Kira likes to tease Cassie and on nights she makes sure to give her all of her love
Doc. The best partner. Doc is always there for Cassie, wherever she is doing good or bad. Or doing ilegal or legal stuff. He knows Cassie will jump towards danger and he will be there to help her make the galaxy a better place Rusk. There are few things that Rusk hates more than the empire and one of them is how Cassie jumps on top of his back because she is to tiny to get food by herself. Even then, he will die for his little sister becuase he knows she will defeat the empire some day
Scourge. The big old sith might have forgotten what means love, pain or feelings, but he respects Cassie. He knows that despite her size the little jedi is more than capable of busting whatever walls appear on her way, even if it means tapping on the dark side.Â
Bella Jedi consular <3 NADIA
She is a curvy girl. D cps on a tallish girl, 178, with a dump track ass. She is thick and she is SHY about it. She likes baggy clothes so her body doesnt show too much. She feels that healing people with her skills is the best call for her but she also agrees that sometimes throwin a massive bould to minnies is good
Qyzen. Qyzen and Bella are good frends. Mostly, because Qyzen will gladly shoot anyone who calls Bella on her fat ass, and Bella will drop a boulder on anyone who calls him green skin or lizard. The two of them are the type of people who fixate on stuff and they enjoy their hobbies
Tharan. To be honest. Bella didnt think it thorugh when she got Tharan to come with. She was doing it mosly out of pity and because she needed some help. But mostly she just liked Holiday and would be more interested on keeping her rather than him.Â
Zenith. Oh dear Zenith. Bella enjoys Zenith attiude. There is little more than that. She isnt as extremist as he is, but she knows that he will do everything on his power to defeat the empire and protect the inocent
Iresso. Oh Ireso is fun. Bella likes to bully him in little wyas. Sometimes she will just pick something ilegal to do to get on his nerves. Thats alls. Well he is all good and good for fights but Bella likes how correct he is and that she can make him mad
Nadia: Her love. Her mistress. Her everything. Everyone has thirsted for her body, and so Bella usually isnt ready to believe most words of love and affection, but Nadia persisted for months, being almost addicted to her body. And so one day Bella let her padawan into her bedroom and cried over her love. Nadia is the type of girl who will devote her heart and soul to her love. She CANT keep her hands off Bellaâs body tho, which makes it hard for her to keep clean underwear around
NEW OCS FROM THE NOT PC OCS GAME.Â
PRESENTING. THE ARTIST
Sarah Novadust
The lead singer and dancer of the Imperial Idol group âRoyal NovasâÂ
A tallish girl (175cm) a bit petite looking but upclose you notice she has a good pair of thighs and some nice ass. She has GOLDEN hair. Not blonde. Golden. She keeps it on a long ponytail that reaches all the way back to her ass. She is a human girl of 22 years old with Purple eyes due to some alien grandparents
She leads the Royal Nova an Idol Group originated on the Empire. The group is formed by her, 3 back up singers, 5 back up dancers, 2 guitars, piano, drums, violin, and 1 trumpet. The 15 girls are all REAL close to Sarah.. More on that later
Sarah was born on Sarapin. She worked on being an artist since she was young, but when she was around 15 she was blacklisted from most musical firms on the republic over a incident with a manager that wanted to taste her body. Sarah left to spent some times with friends back on Balmorra when the empire attacked. FOr a couple of years she layed low working on some cantinas singing to earn a living. It was there when some sith lady saw her and brought her to Kaas City. Sarah would keep singing for more and more excentic public until she had the favour of enough people that she could stay safe and solo. Then after saving up for some time, she went and convinved a few sith lords and sith officers to put some credits on for a full on idol group. She invited friends and scouted for talent all over the galaxy
As an artist, Sarah likes mixing her young excitement with imperial overconfidense. She knows that playing it safe wont work and so she makes every song and perfomance into a way to improve herself more and more. With a big group of girls to help her she has managed to perform or even Dark council members and Senators from the republic.Â
As a young woman, Sarah attracts a lot of people. She isnt the most strong willed person, nor she is particulary aggresive. That is excaclty the reason why each and every member of the Royal Novas is madly in love with her. Each girl looks over their leader as a little kitten to be protected. Of course, Sarah doesnt mind the attention and as long everyone plays nice, she will open her heart to the entire group. With 22 years old, a massive fallowing, more credits that she can count and a polyamourous relationship with 14 girls, Sarah's life is just the best

Annalyne Sonata [IkeVamp OC]
Hey guys! I am so verry happy to finally being able to officially introduce my IkeVamp OC, Annalyne! ٩(âáŽâ)Û¶
This is a very long post, but I hope you wonât be discouraged and will enjoy learning a bit more about her, and the story I imagined for her (^.^)ă
I also commissioned the MOST AMAZING ARTIST EVER @lemonsqueazieâ for drawing my baby OC! áŠà·êłà·áŠ She is my favourite artist, and also an amazing human being that I love very much. She is so attentive to what you tell her, always doing everything to meet your ideas and make the best art for you! I highly recommend to check out her blog @lemonsqueazieâ alongside her Instagram and her DeviantArt post about her commissions! You can also find all the infos here.
NOW, ON WITH THE OC! (àčăÚĄâàč)
Name: Annalyne
Last name: Sonata
Nicknames: Anna, Nana, Lyn
DOB: June, 19, 1995 (25 years old)
Origin: French
Languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean
Height: 160cm (5.25ft)
Sexuality: pan
Job: freelance fashion designer, blogger, gamer
Passions: fashion, drawing, eating, baking, cooking, videogames, reading, music
Phobias: larvas and maggots, bugs (except ladybugs)
Lover: Leonardo Da Vinci
"Heh? What is this? Kinda like a storage room?"
Annalyne is a very chill woman, taking things at her own pace and working hard towards her goals and dreams. When she doesn't work, she becomes a lazy slug chilling with a good book or videogames -part of why she is also a gamer-.
Her most prominent traits are definitely: her kindness, her humour -made of bad puns and references-, her caring side, her clumsiness and her supportive behaviour. Number one fan of her family and friends.
She will always go out of her way to make her loved ones feel loved, supported or just important. She can also easily throw hands if needed. No one messes with her or her close ones without getting punished.
She has a hard time trusting people. It looks like she is close to everyone, but she hardly confides in people. It takes a hecking long time to build a relationship of trust with her -due to some childhood traumas-
She is strong-willed and -way too- a tad stubborn. But she compensates by being very sweet and cute. She can be very anxious but eating calms her, explaining her chubbiness. Also, count on her for helping everyone.
She is very good at cooking and baking, and loves making things herself. She loves dogs, but honestly, she loves almost every animal ever. She has a talent with them, understanding them beyond reason: animals love her.
"Call me the PUNisher."
She is easily triggered by disrespect, racism, homophobia, bullying and abuse. She can kick your ass off if needed, being very rude and violent when angry -she already broke the arm of a racist, and slapped Shakespeare...-
Comte is the one engaging conversation with her, asking her if she likes this painting. She is hyper excited talking about it and Comte cannot help but giggle, finding a Da Vinci's fangirl in modern days being pretty rare.
How she met Comte:
Annalyne lives near Paris and absolutely loves museums. Therefore she spends a hella lot of time in the Louvre, especially contemplating Da Vinci's works. She meets Comte in front of Da Vinci's painting Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
They spend some time debating and chatting over Leonardo Da Vinci's life, works of art and other controversies. He smiles a lot throughout the whole chat, since he wonders how his old friend would react.
How she ends up in Comte's mansion:
Comte bids her goodbye after they have finally seen Mona Lisa from up close. She thanks him for the delightful conversation, happy she has met someone as knowledgeable as him on her favourite historical figure.
She is taken aback, quite surprised, and thinks the mansion is a storage room. Maybe the man is actually an employee? She is curious though so she walks through the hall and stares at everything in awe.
When he leaves, waving his hand, his pocket watch falls and Annalyne picks it up. She chases after Comte all over the museum and sees him going through a door. She opens it and ends up in the mansion's hall.
Who she meets:
While discovering the hall, she stumbles upon Leonardo who's asleep. She doesn't want to wake him up but God, she stares for a good minute at the sleeping man. "I have never seen such a gorgeous man..."
She walks past him and continues looking for Comte. But then, Napoleon appears and asks her who she is, and what she does here. She tells him she wants to find the gorgeous blonde man to give him his watch.
He offers to give to him in lieu of her. But she is wary of him, a stranger. And Comte appears, the noise having caught up his attention. He recognises Annalyne and is surprised she is there. She gives him the watch.
The first dinner:
Comte gladly accepts the watch and asks her if she wants to dine with him and the residents of this mansion. Mansion? She stares at him, dumbfounded, and frowns. "Mansion? Isn't that a storage room or something?"
Comte giggles and promises to explain it all over dinner. Her trust for Comte and her love for food makes her accepting the offer. How surprised she is upon seeing all these people gather around a huge table!
She sits down and gets served by Sebastian, under all the surprised looks. Comte then proceeds on explaining it all to her: how all the residents in there are famous historical figures, and how she is the past.
How she reacts:
She is surprised, but she believes in timelapse, magic, etc. So she just stares in surprise and shock but is soon overexcited to meet all these people who changed history and inspired her throughout her whole life.
She will ask a bunch of questions to each of them, questions she has always been curious about, like the rumours and alleged controversies. Even when she hears about not being able to go back in her time, she is strangely chill about it.
"Well, there's no helping it! I will come up with a lie when I go back there!" But she will write letters and leave them -along jewels of hers- in places she thinks her friends or family could find them in the future.
Meeting her soulmate:
Sebastian shows her her room and then tells her to explore the mansion if she wants to. What she does! She then remembers the man sleeping in the hall? He must be a historical figure as well, but who can he be...?
She wants to know so she goes to find him and stumbles upon him, nearly falling on top of him. He seems awake since he is sitting on the floor. He had heard her footsteps so he smiles at her. "Well, who do we got there, Cara Mia?"
She smiles at the Italian nickname and tells him everything about her being here. He is surprised she is so chill about it but he smiles and introduces himself. "Well Cara Mia, nice to meet you. I'm Leonardo Da Vinci."
Upon hearing the name, her eyes widen and her breath catches in her throat. She stares, her heart beating faster every passing second. His smile is intoxicating and she cannot help but blush and stutter.
"W-well, nice to meet you, Leonar- huh Sir Leonardo? How, how should I call you?" He laughs."Leonardo is enough, Cara Mia." He smiles and pats her head before standing up. "Watch yourself, Cara Mia."
Her reaction upon the vampiric reveal:
After having talked with Comte and decided to stay in his mansion, she actually wonders how he could resurrect them. She decides to ask Sebastian, her new colleague, and he just shows her the Rouge and Blanc bottles.
"What's that?" She asks, pretty curious."Take a look and you will understand." She first goes for the Rouge and recognises the metallic smell of blood. She stares at Sebastian. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"They are all vampires. Except I, who is human." She widens her eyes, sueprised, and then goes "Aaaaah, that's how he did! Makes sense!" She smiles. "Is Comte the one who transformed them all or no?" "He did, yes."
"So, is he like, a pureblood vampire? A superior vampire who can turn humans into vampires?" "How do you know about this?" "Oh please, Sebastian. Cinema, animes, mangas and books are full of vampires."
Sebastian stares at her, bewildered. "And you are not afraid? They could easily feed off of you, even kill you." "Oh please Sebastian, they're more like puppies than wolves! If they were capable of this, you wouldn't be here!"
"Plus," she says while flashing a big dumb grin. "If they wanted to eat me, they would have already bitten me and emptied me of all my blood. They are not dangerous." Sebastian is shocked at how chill she is.
Her relationships with the residents:
She gets close to every resident ofthe mansion pretty fast, especially since she is not pushy, funny, kind, calm and knowledgeable on a lot of matters. They all grow a soft spot for her, even shyer and harsher residents.
Napoleon: they bond over cooking and baking. Also, since she is French, she can tell him about the impact he had on her country.
Mozart: music is common ground for them. She knows a lot about him and will sing for him, being allowed in the music room.
Arthur: writing sessions together, in his room or hers. They tease each other a lot and she is quick to react to his flirting.
Vincent: they are very close, bonding over drawing and painting. They talk a lot about art and have art sessions.
Theodorus: she doesn't let him win with his harsh replies and he likes that. She is strong and adores Vincent: he likes her a lot.
Isaac: she isn't pushy and gives him room so he likes talking with or teaching her a few things. They often meet in his room.
Jean: he likes how pure she is but she doesn't let him avoid her. She will do anything to befriend him and he gives in.
Dazai: sharing writing ideas brings them closer. They also laugh a lot because they are both airheads amd chaotic walking memes.
William: she likes his work but hates him. She will always avoid him, or shoot sharp daggers glares at him.
Comte: the father figure. She loves going to him to talk or when she needs some calm, and having tea together.
Sebastian: always laughing and teasing each other. She will flick his forehead when he assumes things for her.
Her relationship with her soulmate:
She is a Da Vinci's fangirl so of course, she is a mess around him. At first, she just blushes a lot, stutters a bit around him and she fangirls when he is not around. "Omg I can't believe I witnessed him sketching!!!"
They bond very easily since they both love arts. And Leonardo is very curious about her fashion style, her job, and basically how the world works in modern days -she spent an entire night talking about phones-
One day, he finds her sighing in her room: "what's the problem?". "Ah, nothing, I'm just, not comfortable in Comte's dresses. I'm more into trousers or skirts from my time." He is curious so she tells him about modern day fashion.
"Ah, so women wear pants and shirts. Whatever they want." She nods excitiedly."Yeah, and I hope one day men will be able to do so as well! Wear skirts and dresses and heels. But toxic masculinity is still pretty deep..."
"Wait for me, Cara Mia" and he dashes off the room, to come back later with a stack of shirts and trousers. "Here, take these. They're mine but for now, it will do. Tomorrow, we're going shopping for you."
And they do go shopping the next day, buying loads of men clothes alongside jewels and shoes. Also, they buy fabrics, needles and everything for Annalyne to sew her own clothes. He loves seeing her so happy.
She spends the next days adjusting Leonardo's clothes and the ones they bought to her chubby curves. And Leonardo surprises her by wearing a dress. They go have dinner like this: her in men's clothes, him in women's clothes.
Legend says every resident nearly choked themselves of either shock or laughter. And Leonardo and Annalyne really enjoyed it a lot and decided to do this at least once a week -Leo enjoyed the dress, actually-
The purebloodness revelation:
She catches very early on that he is a pureblood, without him even telling her. She is extra sensitive so she kinda feels auras and saw how Comte and Leonardo's eyes are similar. His genius made even more sense.
"Leonardo. Are you like Comte, a pureblood vampire?" She asked him while they were shopping for fabrics. Leonardo nearly fell out of surprise. "What are you talking about, Cara Mia?" "Well, you know..."
"Same eyes as Comte, genius who can do anything, super strong and intimidating aura. Open-minded as if you've already seen everything, and laziness that can be explained by already having done everything possible..."
He stares at her and then laughs, patting and ruffling her hair. "You're awfully clever and intuitive, Cara Mia. Yes, I am a pureblood. Does it change anything between us? "HELL NO!" she shouts. "But I've got questions!!!"
She drowns him under questions on everything he's done, seen, lived. They spend almost all of their time together, teaching each other about their lives and their knowledge. Residents are jealous of the Leonardo monopoly.
How it "ends" between them:
She is a strong woman and will go back to her time. But she promises Leonardo she will find him, right after returning to her time. He asks her what day it was, when she entered the mansion. "March, 15th, 2020."
When she leaves, while everyone is crying, Leonardo calculates. "Okay, gone for a month in her time, so she'll be in the Louvre in April, 15th, 2020. Ah. My birthday." He smiles. Almost 200 years, but it will be so worth it.
When she passes through the door, she is back in her time. Asking a guide what day it is. "April, 15th, 2020". The day they agreed upon, and Leonardo's birthday. She smiles and then proceeds to rush out of the Louvre to look for him.
But then she passes in front of Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Her favourite painting. A tall and gorgeous man is standing there, in a blue shirt and blue jeans. She feels it. She goes to the man, pats him on the shoulder, and asks: "Leonardo...?"
The man turns around, a huge grin on his face, bright golden eyes shining with love: "Was about time, Cara Mia..." she cries and throws herself at his neck; he spins her, crying as well, burrying his face in her neck.
"I missed you so much. Never do this again. 200 years was worth it but it was too long." She is a mess while crying. "I, I pwomiss Leo, I will neba leaf you again-" he laughs at her messy face. "Look at you, silly girl." He kisses her.
"I want you to see how much I love you in my eyes. They speak on my behalf."
Trivia facts:
She has a tiny water spray bottle she labelled as "Holy Water". Whenever a resident smiles or laughs, she opens it and "collects" their happiness. Thus, when one is talking shit about himself, she sprays the water on them.
"There, you have been blessed with Holy Water. Now love yourself or I agressively hug you." -the mistake on the label,on "thoughts" is intended, as it is is a mix between thots and thoughts, bitch thoughts she's gonna spray away.
She hates Shakespeare, Faust and Vlad. Whenever they pass by the mansion, she grabs the garden hose she labelled "Garden Hoes" and splashes water on them. "Oh no, you walking sin, stay away from my babies!"
She eats A LOT and puts shame on Theo when it comes to eating sweet things. They have pancake-eating competitions -and guess what, she wins-. She will be snacking 24/7 when nervous, anxious, sad and basically under negative emotions.
She listens to every type of music. She really enjoys any kind of rock music, and is also very knowledgeable on classical music. She likes to dance on Kpop and sing on Disney songs: her favourites are definitely Iâll Make A Man Out Of You and Why Should I Worry -in French-
She used to practice martial arts so she can beat the crap out of anyone being a little sh*t with her or her loved ones. She also has a very scary aura when furious, leading to most people just running away from her wrath.
She loves gossiping with Arthur. Whenever she knows about some rumours, or when she needs to talk about something that upset her, she goes to his room with coffee or tea. They both irradiate chaotic gossiping energy when together.
She is the mom friend, and becomes the mom of the mansion. She already told Jean to âget his bottoms in the living room to eat with all of themâ, else she was going to kick his butt so hard he would be unable to sit or practice fencing.
All the animals LOVE her. Chérie is missing? She is cuddling with her in the patio. Lumiere is not under the bed? He is sleeping on her laps while she reads. King is nowhere to be found? She is playing with him in the garden. Snow White vibe.
She loves flowers and will put some all over the mansion. She puts one every day in front of every residentâs door, with a message written on a tiny piece of paper, something like: âYou are a sweetheart and you deserve the best, keep going, dearie!â

How The Haunting of Bly Manor Pays Tribute to 1961âs The Innocents
https://ift.tt/3iQv1Tn
The first day at work for The Haunting of Bly Manorâs writers started with a field trip. Mike Flanaganâs team went out to the Amblin Entertainment screening room to watch a movie. âWe did the same thing in [The Haunting of Hill House] with Robert Wiseâs The Haunting,â Flanagan tells Den of Geek and other press outlets. âItâs a great way to start ⊠to put up a really beautifully realized adaptation of the same source material, and to start talking to the writers about the things that I love about it and hear the things they love about it.âÂ
For Bly Manor, the version of the same source material chosen was Jack Claytonâs The Innocents, released in 1961 and starring Deborah Kerr. Itâs a film that Flanagan wanted to celebrate in his own adaptation of Henry Jamesâ The Turn of the Screw.Â
âItâs a movie, I think, that isnât talked about for whatever reason,â says Flanagan. âIt doesnât come up as often as The Haunting does. Though it employs a lot of the same technique and came out two years prior. So, itâs one of those films that cinephiles love and horror fans love, but a lot of people donât know it. We were actively always looking for ways to tip our hat to it.â
And they found plenty. Though The Innocents cleaves more closely to The Turn of the Screw than Flanaganâs version does (the Netflix series is a mini anthology of Jamesâ work, blending two of the writerâs other stories in with the events of the novella), the 1961 film invented several elements that reappeared in Flanaganâs series. The first is its âO Willow Walyâ song motif. The Innocents memorably starts with an entirely dark screen as a childâs voice sings Paul Dehnâs lyrics to a melody by composer George Auric:
We lay my love and I beneath the weeping willow. But now alone I lie and weep beside the tree.
âO Willow Walyâ does not feature in The Turn of the Screw and was composed for the 1961 film where itâs heard several times: hummed by young Flora (Pamela Franklin), played on the piano by Miles (Martin Stephens), and as the tune to which a toy ballerina dances inside a musical jewellery box. As a tribute to The Innocents, the Netflix series borrows the same motif. Its opening lines are recited as a poem by the narrator in the very first scene, itâs sung and hummed by Flora a number of times â including when sheâs playing hide-and-seek in the attic in the company of one of the faceless ghosts â and is once again the tune to which the toy ballerina dances in Miss Jesselâs jewellery box. That jewellery box (see below), and the photograph of Peter Quint discovered inside it, is another invention of The Innocents borrowed for the Netflix show.
A major tribute comes in the name of Victoria Pedrettiâs Bly Manor character. In Jamesâ original novella, the young woman who takes the position at Bly is known only as âthe Governessâ. In The Innocents, the governess character played by Deborah Kerr is called Miss Giddens. And in The Haunting of Bly Manor, sheâs Danielle Clayton â her surname a nod to the 1961 filmâs director, Jack Clayton.
Flanagan tells press that the hat-tips were meant to go further than character names; he also wanted members of The Innocents cast to cameo in Bly Manor. Itâs a trick the team pulled off in The Haunting of Hill House, when actor Russ Tamblyn (who played Luke Sanderson in 1963 film The Haunting) was hired to cameo as Nell Crainâs psychologist Dr Montague.Â
âWe didnât have the benefit of being able to bring Russ Tamblyn in this time, but we went looking. We went looking for anyone on the cast that we could find from The Innocents to see if we could get them back.â Were they successful? Child actors Pamela Franklin and Mark Stephens appear to be the filmâs only two surviving castmembers, the former now running a family-owned bookshop on Sunset Boulevard and the latter now a UK-based architect with his own Ted Talk. If you spot either of them in Bly Manor, be sure to let us know.

The Haunting of Bly Manor: Mike Flanagan Discusses Standout Eighth Episode

Castmembers notwithstanding, there are countless echoes of The Innocents across the Netflix showâs nine episodes. In the novella, the Governess is driven by coach to Blyâs front door, where sheâs greeted by housekeeper Mrs Grose holding Floraâs hand. In The Innocents and Bly Manor, she asks the driver to stop early and let her walk the remainder of the way to the house, letting her drink in the paradisiacal grounds and stumble upon Flora playing by the lake. There are other shared links that donât appear in the original story: The statue garden, Floraâs bath on Dani/Miss Giddensâ first night at Bly, the game of hide-and-seek, the childrenâs dress-up and âstory timeâ performance, Miles choking Dani/Miss Giddens, Miles killing a dove⊠(in The Innocents, he kills one of the birds he feeds on the tower and hides its under his pillow; in The Haunting of Bly Manor, he breaks the neck of his teacherâs classroom pet dove). And while itâs never confirmed how Miss Jessel died in The Turning of the Screw, the Netflix series adopts The Innocentsâ explanation that she drowned in the houseâs lake, following the death of her lover Peter Quint (the circumstances of which are quite different in the Netflix show).Â
The design of the Netflix series also takes inspiration from The Innocents. In The Turn of the Screw, the Governess first sees the ghost of her predecessor Miss Jessel across the lake when sheâs sitting on a bench, sewing, with Flora playing nearby. In the 1961 film, Miss Giddens is sitting in a lakeside Gothic folly when she sees the apparition, and a very similar Gothic folly appears in the Netflix series.Â
The influence doesnât stop at sets, props and plot points. The style of filmmaking is carried over from the film to the TV series. The Innocentsâ director of photography Freddie Francis made clever use of the sides of the frame to show glimpses of the filmâs ghosts. Francis used specially made lenses to blur the edge of shot, in some cases painting directly onto the lens to create a foggy effect with a channel of light in the centre. In this interview, Bly Manor cinematographer James Kniest tells Den of Geek he aimed for the same effect with the ghosts in the series. âThey were always meant to be very subtle and not on the nose,â Kniest says. âAnd that was probably some of our biggest conversations, how bright to light the ghosts in the background and then how to deal with them in post. Sometimes theyâre in reflections. Look in the dark corners.â
There are major differences too, of course. With almost nine hours of story versus The Innocentsâ 90 minutes, Bly Manor delves much deeper into Daniâs backstory, and fleshes out the barely mentioned characters of the Manorâs gardener and cook. While the ending of The Innocents is faithful to the final lines of the James story, Bly Manor goes in an altogether different direction.Â
The chief difference though, is Bly Manorâs unambiguous stance on the haunting. Thereâs no question in the series that the ghosts are real, but Claytonâs film dances beautifully around the ambiguity that Flora and Milesâ possession might only be happening inside Miss Giddensâ head. Revisit the moments in the film in which Miss Giddens sees Quint and Jessell, and almost every time, we first see her face reacting before we see the ghost itself â a suggestion that they only exist in her imagination. Director Jack Clayton was intrigued by the argument made by literary critic Edmund Wilson in his now-famous 1934 essay âThe Ambiguity of Henry Jamesâ that the original story is not a ghostly tale at all, but a Freudian fantasy in which a frustrated governess projects her repressed sexuality onto the lurid story of two children possessed by lustful adults. According to film historian Sir Christopher Frayling, when Deborah Kerr asked her director if the hauntings were all in Miss Giddensâ head, she was told to make up her own mind.
The Innocents was not adapted directly from Jamesâ novella, but instead from a 1950 stage play by William Archibald that shares the filmâs title. Jack Clayton worked with Archibald on the screenplay, and then brought in the successive help of playwrights and screenwriters John Mortimer, Harold Pinter and Truman Capote (with whom Clayton had worked on 1953 John Huston movie Beat the Devil) to fine tune the screenplay. It was Capote who gave the script its Southern Gothic and Freudian elements, says Sir Christopher Frayling in this video essay. The spider eating a butterfly (like the one Miles tries to scare Miss Clayton with in episode one of the Netflix show), the beetle crawling from the mouth of a statue ⊠Capoteâs preoccupation in the script, says Frayling, was to reveal âthe skull beneath the skin.âÂ
The result is both disturbing and beautiful. Claytonâs film is drenched in a Victorian horror of Peter Quint and Miss Jesselâs sexuality, and doesnât shy from the novellaâs unsettling hints towards the sexual dynamic between the adult Miss Giddens and the child-possessed-by-an-adult Miles. Itâs a captivating, intense treatment of a story James himself described as a plaything, or an âamusette to catch those not easily caughtâ. French New Wave filmmaker Francois Truffaut was a fan, and according to one anecdote, praised The Innocents to its director as the greatest English film since Alfred Hitchcockâs 1938 The Lady Vanishes.Â
As remarked by Frayling, Clayton coincidentally appears to pay tribute to Hitchcock in The Innocents, visually quoting from 1958âs Vertigo in his shot of the winding staircase leading up to the houseâs haunted tower (see below). He also included a nod to Orson Wellesâ Citizen Kane in the shot of Miss Giddens leaning over a jigsaw, swamped by the vast stately house, and saluted Jean Cocteauâs 1946 La Belle et la BĂȘte in the houseâs ghostly, billowing curtains. Tributes all to the work of filmmakers Clayton admired.Â
Left: Vertigo (Hitchcock, 1958) Right: The Innocents (Clayton, 1961)
And so the game continues, with Bly Manor saluting Claytonâs work in turn. Itâs a secret language, says Mike Flanagan. âOne of the coolest things about being people who love movies is that we get to share that with each other, and thereâs these little unspoken secret languages we develop just being fans of the same thing. ⊠Weâve created telepathy, just based on our own shared love of something.â
âThat to me is what an Easter egg is. Itâs the opposite of a dog whistle. Itâs a quiet and secret communication thatâs meant to just awaken just a little moment of joy in people who see the same thing you see and like the same thing you like, and to invite other people into it.â

The Haunting of Bly Manor is streaming now on Netflix.

arcades after dark
summary:Â basically you and peter go to an arcade the night before decathlon & yâall admit ya feelins for each other oooo!!
word count: 1.4k
warnings: none! just lots of fluff & a lil kiss kiss hehe
a/n: this is the very first fic iâve completed in my little revamp project, so if it seems familiar, thatâs why. (basically iâm going through some old fics and redoing them in a bigger & better way!)
masterlist
Knock knock knock.
âPete, you in there?â you called through the door, leaning up to squint into the peephole. All you could see was⊠well, nothing. You were looking in the wrong way, after all.
âY/N?â Peter swung open the door with a soft smile, causing you to almost fall right into him, âYou know you canât see into a peephole from the outside of the door, rightâŠ?â
You waved your hand in front of your face dismissively before grabbing his hand, âYeah, yeah, whatever. Weâre going to the arcade!â His hand was warm and soft, sending chills up your spine as you gave it a soft tug and tried to pull him out of the doorway.
âWait, wait-â he held onto you prevent you from walking any further, causing you to shoot him an annoyed look, âArenât we, um, supposed to stay in our hotel rooms?â
âOh, come on, Pete! Itâs the night before decathlon, we gotta do something fun!â you pulled on his hand again and started to walk down the hallway, gripping harder when he still didnât move, âNow come on, letâs go before we get caught! We need to live life while we still can.â
Sighing, Peter relented and followed you down the hallway and into the elevator. âSo, is everybody else gonna be there too, orâŠâ he broke the silence as you pressed the lobby button and stepped back from the panel.
âNah, they all went swimming,â you shrugged, âBut I think the arcade is way more fun, and youâre one of the biggest arcade fans I know. I didnât think anybody else would wanna go with me.â
That wasnât a lie, but it also wasnât the only motivating force behind your decision. You and Peter had been best friends since the day you were born, and you knew everything about each other. Whether it was his secret identity or your hidden love for Jake Gyllenhaal, it was laid out for the other to see. Secrets didnât exist between the two of you; any sort of personal information was fair game, and you never hesitated to reveal what was bothering you.
However, there was one secret you just couldnât let loose. Yes, you and Peter were best friends, but recently, youâd started to view him as⊠more⊠than just a best friend. Every little touch sent your heart soaring, and every shared look caused your stomach to fill with butterflies. Even thinking about it now, you could feel your throat begin to tighten and your mouth begin to twitch with the start of an embarrassed smile.
Ding!
The elevator doors opened, effectively ending your daydreams. Taking a step out into the hallway, Peter gave you an encouraging glance, beckoning you to follow. The two of you silently navigated the dark hallways until you finally stumbled upon the clear glass door that had the word âARCADEâ printed in bold, bright font across the top. Giving him a thumbs up, you pushed open the door, running across the oddly patterned floor.
Peter ran after you, giggling as you jumped between the colored squares on the ground. After a minute or two of bunny-hopping and elementary school level shenanigans, you finally skidded to a stop in front of the skee-ball machines.
âBet I can beat you!â you laughed, pressing the âstartâ button on the one directly in front of you after you slid your room card through the reader.
âOh yeah?â he hit the start button on his, âYouâre so on.â
And so the night went on, the two of you playing game after game under the glowing neon lights of the arcade. It was nice, just the two of you getting to spend time together. Ever since he took on his role of SpiderMan, quality time between you two had grown scarce. It seemed like the only time you got to hang out alone was late at night after his patrols, and even then, you only got a few minutes together. Most of the time, you were forced to bond in the lunchroom or in class, and as much as you loved your friends, youâd missed being with Peter alone. So, needless to say, you were enjoying your much-needed best friend date.
Glancing at your watch, you noted the time. 1:03am. âWeâd better get to bed soon,â you grumbled, angry that time had managed to fly by so fast, âDid we get to play every game?â
âEvery game but one,â he smirked, pointing to the dance game in the center of the room. Stepping onto one of the two platforms, you began to âstretchâ while Peter scrolled through the song options on the screen in front of you.
âOhh!! I love this song!â he cheered, immediately pressing it and stepping back onto the platform. You gave him a high five as an upbeat began to play, the arrows beginning to move faster and faster on the screen until you could barely tell what direction they were pointing in anymore.
âJesus, *wheeze* Peter, what difficulty did you *wheeze* set this to?â you panted, moving your feet as quickly as you could make them go. Glancing to your right, you could see that Peter was struggling just as much, if not more, than you were.
âI donât *wheeze* know, Y/N,â he struggled for breath and a bead of sweat dripped down his forehead, âI think *wheeze* expert??â
You groaned in response, shaking your head. Just as you were about to make some sort of sly remark about âarenât you supposed to have superpowers?â, you tripped over your own clumsy feet, stumbling across the platform. As you tried to regain your balance, you managed to grab onto Peter, your hands clutching his shoulders as your body rammed into his. He made a noise of surprise as you lost your balances together, crashing onto the floor with a loud thump. You groaned in embarrassment, not even noticing that heâd fallen right on top of you, one hand on the floor and the other holding your head gently so it didnât hit the floor.
âI canât believe I just did that-â you began to speak, but when you looked up into his eyes, you froze. He was staring at you, the lights of the arcade reflecting in his chocolate colored eyes. His cheeks began to tinge red as he continued to gaze at you, awed by your beauty. Your hair was splayed behind your head, the neon lights casting a soft light across your face.
âPete?â you whispered, almost too quiet for him to hear. His eyes flickered down to your lips and back up a few times before he slowly leaned in, closing the gap between you. You leaned forward slightly to meet him in the middle, your lips pressing against each others softly; his hand was threaded in your hair, helping hold your head up before you both pulled away.
âWow,â he said, causing you to giggle slightly, âIâm starting to think it was a pretty good idea to come down here after all.â
âOh, shut up,â you teased, âIt was a great idea from the start.â You took a deep breath before gathering up your courage, finally spilling the secret you could never tell. âPete, I, uh⊠I like you. Like, a lot.â
âLike me?â he widened his eyes in false surprise, âI never wouldâve guessed, especially since you just kissed me.â
You blushed and slapped his arm lightly as he laughed, âI kissed you? Actually, Parker, Iâm pretty sure it was the other way around.â
âHmmâŠâ he pretended to consider what you said, âNo, Iâm pretty sure that you kissed me. I was there, after all-â
You cut him off by kissing him again, smiling against his lips before pulling away once more. âIf Iâm the one who kissed you first, then youâre the one who kissed me just now.â
âYou know what?â he stood up from on top of you, holding out a hand for you to take, âI donât think who initiated the kiss is important, as long as I get to kiss you.â
âSure thing, bug boy,â you winked and took his hand, gripping it tightly as he pulled you off of the floor, âNow, letâs get a few hours of sleep before the decathlon.â

Itsy Bitsy Spider (Peter Parker x reader)
Pairing: Peter Parker x reader
Prompt: Peter takes you to meet all of the Avengers because you two are dating but he gets super embarrassed because they spill tons of embarrassing stories about him
Warnings: none
Word count:Â 1147
A/N: Requested by the lovely @holland-haven I hope you like it, love!
Masterlist
âDonât worry babe, itâs going to go well! They will love you!â Peter grabbed your hand and gave it a tight squeeze. You had been dating the spider boy for half a year now and he had decided it was time for you to meet the rest of the Avengers. They were like his second family and he wanted you, the apple of his eye, to know them so that he could bring you with him to the tower more often.
You were nervous because for you it felt like you were meeting his parents. You had already met aunt May several times and the woman loved you and you loved her, she was such a sweetheart. If you had Mayâs approval the Avengers shouldnât be any different, right? But these guys were famous!
âBut Pete...â you whined nervously. âWhat am I going to wear? Do I dress formally or chill? Do I bring them something? Flowers, chocolate?â Your mind was racing. Peter grabbed your shoulders so that you were facing him now. He smiled warmly and pulled you closer.
âDress how you normally do and you donât need to bring them anything. Donât worry, everything will go well!â He pulled you into his chest and hugged you tightly.
The next day Peter picked you up from your place and the two of you decided to walk to the tower since it was only a couple blocks away. You lived closer to the tower than Peter did, which he thought was funny. It was also very convenient because he could just swing by to visit you every time he came to visit the Avengers.
Peter stopped outside the elevators to wait for one to come down. He had explained that taking the stairs would take forever and that both of you would be exhausted after that so he convinced you to take the elevator even though you wouldnât have minded taking a little longer getting to the Avengers. You were nervous, but also kind of excited. They were the Avengers after all!
âHey everyone!â Peter greeted the Avengers with a big smile and wave when he walked into the common room where most of them were chilling. âThis is y/n!â He threw an arm around your shoulders and pulled you close to his side. The first one to react was Thor.
âMiss y/n! We have heard a great lot about you!â He walked over to greet you, but to your surprise, he didn't shake your hand, but instead, he gave it a kiss. You found yourself blushing a little bit.
âOh? Peter has talked about me?â You glanced up at his face and noticed a faint blush dusting his cheeks.
âMaybe...â he mumbled under his breath.
âFinally we get to meet the great y/n!â A woman with blonde hair got up from one of the sofas and walked over to greet you with a wide smile. âHi, Iâm Nat!â She shook your hand as your jaw basically hit the floor.
âNat as in Natasha as in Black Widow?â you almost stumbled over your own words.
âThe one and only.â Nat smiled
âOh my gosh! Iâm such a huge fan!â Natasha stole you from under Peterâs arm and lead you to the sofa she had been sitting on. You sat there talking and getting to know the rest of the Avengers too, well at least them who were present. TâChalla had to be in Wakanda most of the time, but Peter promised you would get to meet him too one day. You were getting along with them a lot better than you had even dared to hope and you loved their company.
As the time passed you soon found yourself telling an embarrassing story from school as you were comfortably draped across Peterâs lap. The Avengers thought it was hilarious and soon they started telling their own embarrassing stories. It didnât take long until they started telling stories about Peter.
âOne time he was late for a mission briefing and decided to climb up the wall of the tower and crash in through the window, only to find out he had climbed the wrong building and crashed right into the middle of someoneâs birthday party and they thought he was the stripper they had ordered,â Nat told you and you could hear Peter trying to shush her, but you thought it was funny and asked if any of the Avengers knew any other stories that Peter mightâve âforgotten to mentionâ.
âLast week Peterââ Tony started telling, but he was cut off by a pillow hitting him in the face.
âYou promised not to tell that to anyone!â Peter whined and now everyone was interested to know what he had done last week. Tony laughed and threw the pillow right back to Peter.
âThe audience wants it, we gotta give the people what they want, right Peter?â He shrugged and put on an innocent face as if he had nothing to say in the matter. And so he started telling about how Peter had shown up without his suit and then messed up the entire thing and at the end of the night he fell asleep on top of a moving car soaking wet when he was trying to get home.
The stories were many and each one made you laugh more than the last and you could hear Peter beg and whine for the Avengers to stop. At one point he literally hid behind your back to escape the cascade of embarrassing stories.
At the end of the night, your stomach and cheeks were hurting from laughing so much and you had already promised and planned to swing by the tower again later that week. You had absolutely loved the time you spent with the Avengers and had really felt how they were just one big family.
âThat was so much fun! Thank you for taking me with you!â You grabbed Peterâs hand and leaned your head against his shoulder as you stood in the elevator.
âIâm so embarrassed... Please get a concussion and forget today ever happened,â Peter mumbled and you punched his arm. âHey! What was that for?â He looked down at you and couldnât help but smile when he saw the wide smile on your face.
âJust wait until you meet my extended family, Iâll be in your shoes then and youâll be the one laughing.â You hid your face against his shoulder and he kissed the top of your head.
Meeting the Avengers and getting to know more about Peter and what he was like when he was a younger, not so trained and experienced spider boy had been one of the most fun experiences of your life.
You smiled up at Peter, your little itsy bitsy spider boy, and he smiled down at you before leaning in for a kiss.

Jonsa isn't happening. The show wouldn't waste time on creating a relationship between Jon and Daenerys only to forget about it in season 8. There is only 6 episodes left. Not enough time for anything. JONSA ISN'T HAPPENING. I'm even a fan of the ship but I know it's not happening in the show (or the books)
The show wouldnât have wasted time on creating a relationship FULL of romantic tropes and parallels between Jon/Sansa and Ned/Cat, Jaimie/Brienne, Gilly/Sam, Robb/Talisa, and even Cercei/Jaimie, only to forget about it in Season 8 đ
They would not have wasted screentime on creating a relationship, between Jon and Sansa, where they work as a team, where they take back their home TOGETHER, where Sansa is the mind and Jon is the sword, where they complement each other, where Jon starts acknowledging her intelligence, and actually begins listening to her, where they deeply bond and form a strong relationship based on trust, openness, partnership, companionship, communication, love and support, only to forget about it in Season 8 đ
Jon is as closed as a pearl shell with Dandelion, he hasnât told her A SINGLE thing about himself. Idk abt you, but Iâm 1000% sure Jon isnât in love with her, and 1000% sure that Dany is in love with the idea of him, and thatâs it.Â
Like for crying out loud, she doesnât know anything about him! He hasnât shared not even a small piece of personal information with her. THAT is HOW you bond with a person, the bonding has happened on her part only, only she, kept sharing personal stuff with him, it has been one sided since day 1. Which, has literally given Jon access to HER weaknesses and soft spots.
All she knows about him, is that heâs honorable, brave, a good commander/fighter, that the people love him and admire him, thus they chose him to be their King, to lead them, and that he took a knife to the heart, died for his people, and then came back to life.Â
I repeat, sheâs in love with the idea of him, because, she thinks, she sees herself in him, because she thinks heâs as magical as her lol Only, they could not be more different from one another. They have different goals, different ways of approaching certain situations, one would die to protect those he loves, for the greater good, the other has seen the army of the dead, 100.000+ of them, and yet still hesitates to help, because she is too self absorbed and obsessed with power and ruling. But she doesnât know just how different they are, she doesnât know what and how he really thinks, because she knows/because he hasnât shared NOTHING personal about him/himself. I mean look at it this way, boasts around all these titles, âthe unburntâ, while jon calls himself The King In The North and thatâs pretty much it, we donât see him calling himself, âthe resurrectedâ, or âthe undeadâ, idk, they ARE opposite of each other.Â
Dandelion is entitled, tyrannical, pyromanic, narcissistic, power hungry, unpredictable, impulsive, doesnât know how to rule, has no respect for other cultures and their traditions, doesnât care about âthe peopleâ, she likes to say that she does, I think part of her/her ego believes that she does, but she doesnât, at all, itâs all about her image, how she wants to be perceived, itâs all a facade, deep down sheâs not like that at all. She wants people falling at her feet in adoration, thatâs her narcissistic side, she has a golden child too (Drogon), also part of being a narcissist, she like to be in the center of the attention, she likes power. Shecan sometimes display mercy and goodness, but only if it serves to preserve her image, and even then, her impulsiveness can get in the way of her âI am a good person, I care for the peopleâ idea of herself and murder in cold blood (Randyll and Dickon)
Jon is none of those things, idk how some of you
He hasnât told her anything about Sansa, about Bran and Arya, as if they donât exist, he doesnât give any info away to her about himself about his family, because heâs weary of her, and fears/he thinks she might find his weakness, or the Starksâ weakness, and use them against him, his family and his people, he canât afford something like that. He does not trust her, and love, cannot exist without trust. Just look at how quickly he opened up to Gendry, he smiled, and laughed, and joked with him, from second 1 lmao THAT is how our Jon is, and not this âweary, always calculating and watching what he saysâ version weâve seen with Dandelion.
I honestly donât know where y'all Jondelion fans see love between them, but you do you, whatever floats your boat, I guess đ
đ
Their bond is supposedly based on what? Oh yes, talking about the Night King, and about the Wights, oh and yes, talking about the Night King, and of course the Night King too, also the White Walkers, oh and I almost forgot, The Night King as well, you lost two brothers too *crickets*, The army of the dead, The Night King, you took a knife to the heart *doesnât open up about it, denies it (but he did tell Sansa all about it and more)*, the Night King, theyâre going to come see you for WHAT you are (not WHOM, but WHAT, that s*it sounds ominous af), The Army ofthe dead, and the The Night King, weâre all gonna die if you donât help, the Night King, the Wights. Like seriously, what even lmao
WHERE is the bonding? Just, WHERE?
Jon looks at Sansa in a way heâs never looked at Dany, he looses himself in her eyes, more times than we can count, and Sansa was fully clothed the whole time, just sayinâ đ€ Sansa âcan TWIST him, like no one elseâ. Weâve never seen Jon look at Dany tenderly, smiling tenderly and genuinely at her, we never saw him, sighing at her, while he lingered longingly on her eyes, he never longingly stared at her lips, not even in the boatbang scene lol The lip staring, seems like something Kit does, a lot, when heâs around a love interest in movies etc. itâs kind of his signature move. I mean he did it with Sansa/Sophie, why not doit with Dany/Emilia too? If heâs so in love with her? hm?
Care to explain the need of this VERYÂ âplatonicâ scene, with VERYÂ âplatonicâ looks and lip staring contests? đ
The above scene was intense AF. You can try and fight me on this. I agree brothers might give their sisters a foreheard kisses, I get it, okay, but that forehead kiss is usually followed by a sweet, tender smile, a pat on the back or a pat on the head even, idk, but in no universe brothers stare with that type of intensity in their sisterâs eyes after a forehead kiss, okay?Â
If y'all brothers do that, theyâre broken, and need repairing asap lol Jokes aside, Iâd be worried and creeped tf out, if my brother kissed me like that, and then leaned in a little, stared deeply, intensively, and seriously into my eyes, and THEN stared at my LIPS!!! Oh hell no đ€ąđ·đđ
There shouldâve been a smile from the two of them, if they meant to pass this forehead kiss as platonic, the smiles wouldâve added a familial feel to the kiss. Instead, Jon is all serious and has intense heart eyes for her, in the first gif, he LEANS IN towards her, after ending the kiss (for a second there, many people thought he was gonna kiss her. I watched that episode, with two male friends, whom I should add, both have sisters, and let me tell you, they were confused af by this kiss).Â
Sansa was just as bloody confused as my friends (lol), by what Jon kissing her made her feel, you can literally see it on her face (3rd GIF), when Jon ends the kiss, she had to legit take a moment to recollect herself and, then, she looked at his lips for a moment, and then straight up in his eyes, no smile from her either, instead, she looked at him with a rather, vulnerable, confused look.
Care to explain these very âplatonicâ looks and strong âplatonicâ moments between them too?
Have y'all see Jon laugh or smile with Dandelion, like at all? Cause I sure didnât.
And this very âplatonicâ arm grab and spin around, which is LITERALLY taken out of the âHow to show Two Charachters are in Love, for Dummiesâ book? Care to explain this one too?Â
D&D have used said book, A LOT, for Jon and Sansa. I mean come on! He looks at her, then at her hand, and then back up, which she kept there on his arm, she didnât let go of him, when he spun around. So why, why have these scenes, if they mean nothing, theyâve had so many romantic tropes in their scenes, that at this point is RIDICULOUS lol đđ
Jaimie and Tyrion are legit going to be like,
when they watch them interact âplatonicallyâ in season 8 lol đđđ
Not to mention that, Jon and Sansa have had more scenes, and more screentime together, than Jondelion. lol
So donât come here telling me, âthey wonât have time for Jonsa to happen in 6 episodesâ, because Jondelion boatbanged in roughly 4 episodes, with no bloody build up too lmao Jonsa already has a more than SOLID foundation, they donât need more buildup, cause they were already built up in season 6 and 7. đ€
After the secret is out, watch Sansa propose the match herself, itâs the most logical of things, she knows itâll strengthen the North, and will secure her place at Winterfell, Littlefinger unknowingly planted the seed in her head, when he talked about a marriage alliance between Dandelion and Jon. By marrying him, she would never have to leave her home, ever again, she wonât ever have to marry some stranger, sheâd marry someone she loves and whom she knows loves her back, someone she knows will NEVER hurt/harm her in any way, someone who has been nothing but, kind, gentle, loving towards her, and whom she knows respects her and appreciates her.Â
And Jon, he would finally become a Stark. I 100% see Jon taking the Stark name through Sansa, thus finally becoming a Stark, something heâs always wanted. Heâd have a strong, intelligent, kind and beautiful woman by his side, heâd finally have the family heâs always dreamed of. Once The secret about Jon comes out, not even a marriange alliance between Jon and Dandelion will make sense, theyâd be gaining nothing from it lol The north would hate them and oppose them both, and they would NOT be uniting the South with the North like so many Jondelion fans say. A Jonsa marriage is inevitable in S8.
Jondelion was rushed af, and yet you come in my askbox saying that thereâs not enough time for Jonsa to happen? lol When they had plenty of scenes togeter in 9 episides, and even after they parted, they kept popping up in each otherâs conversations? They have a strong bond based on trust and love. They are open with each other, Sansa yells at him, he yells at her, they fight, they make up, they talk it out, just like a real married couple đ. Jon gives Sansa a sense of security, heâs made her feel cared for, and safe, after so many years of feeling anything, but that, and sheâs returned that love a thousandfold, she would do anything in her power to keep him safe, to make sure he doesnât end up like Robb and Ned, you know, dead and without a head, and as Iâve said, heâd die for her, he went on this âsuicude missionâ to Dragonstone, for her, so heâd have a better chance at defeating the NK, and therefore at keeping her safe. He did it for the realm too, yes, but Sansa was the MAIN reason, Sansa is what drove all his actions, ever since they reunited, she is his 1st priority (âIâll protect you, I promiseâ), for going to Dragonstone.
They can easily set things in motion for Jonsa in 3 episodes, thatâs all itâs needed, theyâre already very close, theyâve been through a lot together, theyâve had plenty of screentime together, theyâve already pretty much used all the romantic tropes, that are used to built up a romance between two characters, all that is needed now, is for the secret to be out. That, will be the cataclysm that will set everything in motion. Jon will find out first, in the first episode, and weâll see him behave even more weirdly/ambiguously towards Sansa after finding out, thereâll be even more tention between them, especially coming from him. Y'all will see.Â
So yeah, please donât use the â'Thereâs not enough timeâ excuse/argument ever again, because itâs pretty pathetic, considering how fast they made Jondelion bang, with no build up, no foundation, no nothing.Â
And if you canât see how obvious Jonsa is, and how bland, rushed and built on nothing Jondelion is, I must say, youâre lying, youâre not a Jonsa shipper, but clearly a Jondelion one.
*thinks to herself - how do I always end up writing essays when I reply to asks?* đ

Archive Project - November 23, 2013 - Doctor Who: Day of the Doctor Special Review
I canâtstress enough how incredible special screenings for movies and TV shows can beat times. I also canât stress enough how annoying and obnoxious the audiencecan possibly be at times. Tonight however reminded me how awesome it can be tobe in a room with a bunch of people as geeky as you are and just having fun. Ifyou are ever awarded the opportunity to see special screenings for movies youlove I would recommend that you take advantage of the opportunity. If nothingelse youâll walk away with great memories! Onto the show⊠-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doctor Who, 50th Anniversary Special: The Day of the Doctor, 2013 BBC America 76 Minutes Official Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z6FMCqYrBo --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------       RejoiceDoctor Who fans the world over! For on this day, 50 years and 2 days ago themost popular Sci-Fi show in history began. Despite a rocky road the show hasmanaged to maintain an enormous following. 8 years ago the show was given amodern reboot with new characters and storylines to freshen the series andsince then the show has become one of the most talked about shows in the UnitedStates. Big accomplishment for a British show that isnât afraid to take jokesat our expense, but I digress.       Followingthe series tradition, the 50th anniversary special brings back majorDoctor Who actors for the so called âmultiple Doctors specialâ that isregularly used to commemorate 10 year anniversaries. This time series favoriteDavid Tennant is brought back to star with current the Doctor, Matt Smith.Joining them is new series arrival John Hurt as the original doctor, orZero-Doctor as I refer to him in my head (given that I donât want to screw upthe canon and ret-con him as the NEW first doctor).       I canâtexactly give away much of a plot description for the special as part of whatmakes this special great are the various twists, turns and suprises that arepulled out. I will say this though. I went into the special with NOexpectations of what was going to happen. For about 2/3 of the special I wasdeeply afraid that the episode was going to end anti-climactically. Trust methough, IT DOESNâT. Day of the Doctor is easily one of the coolest episodes ofthe show to air, to date.       I did havesome issues with the special however. As stated before the special feels ratherunderwhelming for the first 2/3 and gives off the distinct impression that thestory might roll over and die with an impressive anti-climax. Thankfully that doesnât happen. The plot does felt rushed in some ways though. A lot of potentially amazing moments are brushed over in seconds, leaving me wanting more. I also found myself repeatedly getting taken out of the movie by the sound design. I distinctly remember one of the sound effects in the special to be lifted straight out of the credits theme for George Lopez.  Iâm assuming the BBC in all of their infinite wealth ran out of money at the last second and just sent their assistant sound guy to the local library to pick up their entire collection of free sound effects CDs. Also, I couple of visual effects looked poorly handled. Granted this is Doctor Who, a series basically known for its budget being incrementally cheaper to produce in a year than Paranormal Activity movies. Granted when the visual effects works, they work really well! The best ones were few and far between though.       Overall, ifever there were a great way to celebrate 50 years of Science-Fiction glory thisis as good a way as any. The special pours out enormous amounts of love to itâsshort and longtime fans and any Doctor Who fan will love it. In terms of itâsstanding, it doesnât surpass my personal favorite episode, End of Time (S4,E17)but I can definitely say that it ranks as one of the best. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doctor Who: Day of the Doctor is now available for digital download and will be available on DVD and Blu-ray December 10th, 2013. Thank you for reading! Live long and prosper!

3 for the Price of 1!
When My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) finally came out, I wanted to review it right. And to do that, I had to call in a few friends.Â
I basically knew this had to be a collab of some sort, but instead of reaching out to big names in the fandom, I decided to ask a couple of friends to review the movie with me. Whatâs more in the spirit of things than making something with the friends, new and old, that we made because of this show and its ridiculous fandom?
I have links to Mr. Mikailâs and DigiKateâs spoiler-free and, in the case of DigiKate, full-length spoiler reviews!
Iâll wait until the blu-ray/DVD comes out in January to release my full spoiler-filled review (mostly because you know how busy Iâve been the past two months, but also because I have friends who havenât seen the movie yet), but until then, hereâs some general thoughts on the movie and how it fits into the modern animated films scene.
How does it measure up to other movies? Should we be comparing it differently because itâs a movie based on a TV show? How the fuck did the Emoji Movie get nominated for Best Animated Feature when MLP: The Movie didnât?
Meta-Narratives in Kids Movies
Gotta get this out of the way first. Big surprise: I loved it.
I knew Iâd enjoy it, but I couldnât believe how much I was smiling, even by the first big musical number. Every time a minor character came on screen that I recognized, I had to hold back a scream. I was so proud of the girls, and so impressed with DHXâs work.
I just. Fucking. Loved it.
So, thereâs no denying it. My Little Pony: The Movie is an absolute joy for fans (for reasons I canât get into in the spoiler-free review), but I think what separates this from being a universally beloved insta-classic anywhere except among fans is the landscape of kids movies these days.
Take a look at the likes of Frozen, Moana, and Zootopia and youâll find a lot of meta commentary on the way Disney usually tells its storiesâsometimes, even while embracing those cliches if necessary.
Inside Out and How to Train Your Dragon 2 tackle deeply emotional subjects, as modern Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks love to do.
Even Lego: Batman was a ceaselessly rapid-fire comedy with a heart, and hit on all fronts for it.
So, what? Is there something weâre missing? Well, MLP: The Movie does have all those elements to various degrees---meta humour, emotional subject matter, and quite a number of great jokes. But then, whatâs the real missing element for general audiences and movie critics?
A clever, unique message and/or implementation. As much as we love MLP, we know itâs not the first to talk about the value of friendship. And itâs certainly not the first movie to use the 3-act fetch-quest structure it does.
If you wanna know whatâs stopping MLP: The Movie from being as phenomenal to other people as it is to me, itâs that this is something I havenât seen before, and this is something theyâve seen a hundred times (even if it was done pretty well here).
As a fan, who knows these characters inside and out, I havenât seen these characters pushed to their limits in quite the ways they are here. Leaving Equestria and the lore and worldbuilding therein is inspiring, as it expands the possibilities and the map itself of a world I love so much. And to be honest there are one or two dark moments (by MLPâs standard) that I couldnât believe!
Basically, the novelty and originality of the movie, at least in terms of story, comes mostly from the perspective of fans and staff members who have been dealing with this world and its characters for the better part of a decade now.Â
But since they used both the message of friendship without bells and whistles and the tried-and-true road trip movie plot beats, I can see why some audience members think this is adorable, but bland.Â
If however you think of MLP: The Movie as a response to the recent string of Disney movies that playfully roll their eyes at Disneyâs happy-go-lucky (or meet-cute-and-go-marry as the case may be) philosophies, then itâs very relevant.
And a bit of that structure is actually there. Within the movie itself thereâs a bit of that eye-rolling, and as seen in the trailers, it comes from the villains. The heroes remain genuinely positive and even schmaltzy, and thatâs what wins the day in the end.
These days Disney in particular feels the need to call itself out on all that, and while it can be refreshing, that can also put a bit of a cynical edge into these movies that, frankly, doesnât always need to be there. Sometimes you do need to believe in the cheesy, sometimes you need your friends and all the sentiment that comes with them. A kinder world can be incredibly charming. Trust me.
But maybe Iâm being a bit harsh. All those movies have teams and budgets multiple times the size that MLP: The Movie did. Maybe itâs fairer to compare it to other animated show turned theatrical releases.
So what does that landscape look like?
Adaptation Land
Thereâs nothing like seeing your favourite show on the big screen for the first time. Upped visuals, bigger stories---what more could you want?Â
Itâs here where I think MLP: The Movie measures up in wonderful ways.
Even going from a seemingly similar medium like TV to movies is a pretty hard transition, and I think there are any number of common pitfalls and crowning moments of awesome that come along with that.
But itâs very rare for an theatrical adaption of an animated show to quite meet the same level of quality as the big Disney, Pixar, and sometimes Dreamworks movies.
And itâs obvious as to why. The lower budgets, teams often having to split their time between the show and a movie, bigger-and-better-itis, you name it.
But even if I canât say most of these movies are transcendent, thereâs often still a level of excellence achieved. Even with the relatively low-performing Powerpuff Girls Movie, or the cheesiness of Pokemon: The First Movie, you can still find great movies in this category.
Itâs just... theyâre always better if youâve watched the show. Always. Thereâs more depth, greater knowledge of what this means for the characters, a built-in love and understanding ofthe world. The phrase âfor the fansâ is implied. It has to be.
Unless, of course, youâre like the Lego: Ninjago movie which (I havenât seen but heard) totally and completely abandons the canon of the show. But then, whatâs the point in making a movie based on that show?
You see the problems show staffs face here?Â
So, I think MLP: The Movie is exceedingly enjoyable, but is that really just for fans? And if it is, did it cater enough to fans?Â
In her review, ILoveKimPossibleALot made a good point: we spend the movie with a new set of villains, in new territory, with new characters, and a new story unrelated to the backstories and lore that we, as fans, are so interested in.
Iâve seen a number of fans actually wish the season seven finaleâs story and MLP: The Movieâs story were switched.Â
The season seven finale is straight up lore porn, and one of the greatest two-parters MLP has had. And honestly I would love to see this expanded on in a way to see what it would be like for Starswirl to be emotional. Build it all up even more so the weight of the regret hits home harder.
But, see, that would be impossible, because MLP: The Movie went into production 3-4 years ago.
You can tell, too. No spoilers, but Twilightâs arc in this movie is very reminiscent of something she might go through in season 4 and Rainbow Rocks.
Thatâs yet another reason animated adaptations are so tricky---unless youâre in the case of Hey Arnold, which is about to premiere its final movie this friday over a decade after the end of the show. In that case, no matter how long the movie took, they knew for sure where the characters would be, and thus, where they could take them.
Which isnât to say MLP: The Movie doesnât do anything with the characters, far from it, but I think itâs also far from how deep it couldâve gone.Â
But then... that rounds back to the top, and how it compares to other animated movies in the eyes of general audiences, and how they might feel alienated, and we just keep going âround and âround in circles.
So, does any of that make it a bad story or a bad movie? No, certainly not! For fans, this is a moving character study and a celebration of a lot of the elements we love most from the show (meta humour, genuine heart, the works). The beats, as standard as they are, pretty much all work, save for maybe Grubberâs comic relief depending on your sense of humour.
But, you know, itâs funny to be left with the feeling that you just watched something incredible, that made you so happy you couldnât believe it, only to have to admit itâs understandable that critics and even general audiences wonât feel the same way. But, thatâs where I am.Â
Depends on the context.
Go check out Mr. Mikailâs review here! And Digikateâs reviews here (spoiler-free) and here (spoiler)! *Will be updated with links shortly

FREE UPGRADES?! Clash of Clans Clan Games UPDATE!
the clash of clans unlimited resources no root game is here the clan gameshave arrived so where's my free heroupgrade what's going on fellow fans ofclash of clans that's right the clangames have arrived and they're underwaythis was my first login to check out andsure enough my clan already working hardon getting those achievements donecompleting those challenges and you cansee the maximum level right now is level4 that's what people are trying to getto now remember they did warn that thiswas kind of a shortened version of clangames they were trying to see exactlyhow fast people will get rewards ourclan doing a pretty good job just aboutto complete the final tier and you'llnotice that there are some cool thingsthat you get as rewards you get to pickone from each tier but there are none ofthe really cool ones this time so nowwe've been promised another round ofclan games around the holidays I'massuming that's like Christmas to NewYear'sthat's like holidays for a lot of usanyway so I'm guessing that in about aweek we'll see another set of clan gamesso think of this one as a dry run almostwe're just getting our feet wet findingout what it's about and the dev team isfinding out how much we like it and howactively players are participating so Iwent ahead and chose destroy Teslatowers went for the one of the higherpoint ones you can see it's a hundredpoints and so we're after Tesla's nowfor this challenge I didn't use the newhero levels and I didn't upgrade any ofthe army camps that I had I was savingthat for a jamming stream that wouldhave gone live on my channel by nowbecause this video will go after thatone even that one took place before thisone this one this one took place butanyway alright so we're trying to findan opponent and sure enough we were inthe clouds for quite a while I would sayit took about five minutes or so eventhough I'm only at 4,200 trophies or soand we found another Town Hall 11 readyfor the pickin so again we don't havethe additional troops we don't have thenew hero levelsthe lava hound of course did receive thebuff so that's the one benefit we havein this raid as if we needed any helpI'm sorry but with this raid before theupdate it was consistent two stars allthe time and three on the slightlyweaker basis you make just the lavahounds stronger and really nothing elseneeded right here and we're gonna walkthrough basis even more easily thanbefore pretty much impossible to stop atwo star I'm guessing after this updateonce you start to see the heroes leveledup a little bit and you've got the tanksthe golems in the lava hounds obviouslystronger and then the additional troopsof who needs it but will have a fewextra balloons in here after I do thisvideo we'll get into the jamming streamlater on and again that'll be on mychannel before this is so don't beconfused so yes for a clan that ismostly going to be townhall 11s thesechallenges don't really make that muchof a difference each clan member can goahead and go after the challenges butobviously for the clans that have mixedtownhall levels that are going to besome of those challenges the certainplayers cannot accept that couldn'tpossibly or it would be very unlikelythey'd have to use their entire army andfocus just on getting to the desiredstructure like an Eagle artillery for atownhall 8 to take out would be nearlyimpossible but you never know we've gotthose new bases out there once in awhile so we got down a bunch of Tesla'sin this one could not get to that lastTesla so we only picked up three sowe're gonna have to get back in thererun a couple more attacks and sureenough we just find ez base after ezbase now of course at townhall 11 thetop trophy players are going to beseeing those maxed out bases so maybeyou guys need to let me know those toptrophy pushers if there's any differenceright now but I'm low enough that I'mreally not seeing anything maybe againfully maxed out with the new walls mightmake a little bit of a difference andI'm not innovating my attack at all I'mnot using heal spells despite the factthat those multi target inferno towerswould be pretty much useless with a healspell dropped in the area so theballoons just decimating defenses leftright absolutely ravaging the villageonly one air defense left balloonsmoving through and they practically takeout every single defense in fact somethickened just about so the balloonsworking their way they've gotten theTesla's out of the way so we go aheadand run through the rest of the attackjust to clean things up because it lookslike we might get a nice clearthree-star right here against thispokeball base I'm not exactly sure whatthat is but it's kind of a cool look Ido I do think it's very aestheticallypleasing although maybe not thatfunctional so the heroes getting inthere again cannot wait to see level 50heroes but are they needed not reallybut again it gave something for TownHall Evans to do I mean I'll tell youright now you guys I have no interest injamming all those wall pieces if yourecall from the last update I stilldon't have maxed out walls from then andthere's no way I'm going to invest inall of those crazy level twelve wallsnow I mean that was a big thing whenthey released an entire new wall levelthe community went bonkers with how manymillions and tens of millions of gold ittook to upgrade all of those walls orhundreds of millions in any case sowe'll eventually work on the leveltwelve walls and I will probably getthose done right around the time theyreleased level thirteen walls which Ihear is coming around I'm kidding I'mkidding I don't think there's levelthirteen walls anytime soon but younever know what happens when Town Halltwelve comes around remember I alwayssay it's not if it's whenTown Hall twelve comes but like I saidin the previous episode it hasdefinitely been delayed by the presenceof ten more hero levels to grind throughand more wall pieces to get through notto mention the camps which most peoplewill get to first if I can provide alittle bit of obvious advice that wouldbe upgrade those camps first before youdo anything else if you want to boostyour offense even more than it wasalready boosted for you in the lastupdate all right so here we go challengeprogress completed there it is we gotthe Tesla's down and we earned somepoints for our clan there it is rightthere and you can see those points beingadded to the tally so you can gather a500 for the Klan and then the Klan isgoing to need 10,000 to complete level 4which at the current games setup is themaximum level it looks like there willbe more levels in the future I'mguessing we could see as many as 10 younever know and it's going to be a lotharder you're obviously going to have tocooperate with your clan members butlet's go ahead and run through theoverview really quickly this isimportant where the rewards are it saysthat you need to complete at least onechallenge to be eligible to pick onereward from each tier and then therewards they go to the Treasury in yourclan castle if you're wondering wherethey will be so you can see if a playerhas a challenge underway right therewith a little spinning stopwatch andthen of course you can see the rewardsbefore you've unlocked them you can seewhat you're playing for ladies andgentlemen and again you can't click onanything yet other than looking at theones that you will be eligible to pickup when the games complete the potionsseem kind of cool I especially like thisone right here the power potion boostsyour troops and spells to the maximumlevel allowed by your laboratory for onehour so that's a nice bonus for playerswho have upgraded the lab but haven'tbeen able to upgrade the troops yet ormaybe there's even a troop that theyhaven't upgraded for a long time youcould try it out and then you've got theresource potion as well so the potionsare cool but obviously players wanted tosee the really cool magical stuff andit's not listed here so again this isthink of this as the mini-games thisisn't the real deal this isn't thefull-on what we're going to see when thegames come out that we have to go overto the clan castle and take a lookclick on magic items and now you can seethe books and come on book of fightingso that one instantly completes anyongoing troop upgrade and it works inboth villages so you can pick a troopuse the book and you can instantlyfinish the upgrade building kind ofstraightforward there instantly completeany building upgrade again in bothvillages and the book of spells anyongoing spell upgrade gets completedimmediately and then the Book of Heroesprobably the one most people are excitedto see instantly complete any ongoinghero upgrade and then of course the bookof everything that is you can pickanything that's going to have to be theultimate reward the book of everythingobviously will come at the very highesttiers of Clan games accomplishments soget together with your clan and see ifyou can't get those books next timeapparently not this time but we canalways hope they show up right aroundChristmas so that they can be thereunder our Christmas tree so get in thereyou guys complete those challenges thereobviously is a wide variety ofchallenges there is something there fora player of any Town Hall level as longas you belong to a clan so thank youguys as always for watching all the wayto the end of this episode Slimer watched the sad clown join H.P. Lovecraft as he was chatting up Captian Marvel. Behind us, drunk furries chased each other. This is the sort of thing that can really only happen at ConCoction.
I got out of work later than last year but still had hopes that i could make the opening cermemoniesif I stepped on it. When I rushed into the Bertrem I saw to my dismay that the line for registration was almost out the door. A man worked the line with a bowl of choclates, handing out Dove mins to everyone.
âLong line triggered the candy bonus,â he explained.
I got my badge too late to make the Opening ceremonies so I headed back to the car to pull on my Ghostbusters coveralls. I shrugged the proton pack on and tossed the gloves and goggles into the monkey head. I noticed that breathing was difficult due to the poor ventlation in the large mask and didnât want to get into it until Iâd gotten inside the building. Knightmage sotted me as I was wandering in and headed over to greet me and look over the costume.
âTracy the Gorilla,â he said shaking his head. âMan, thatâs obscure. Did you just see the monkey head and think Tracy?â
âIt was in the back of my mind,â I admitted. âBut a gorilla suit is also one of those things you should just HAVE in your closet â like a little black dress.â
Tracy of course was the third member of the original Ghostbusters from the 1975 TV show starring Larry Storch (Who I met a year or so ago) and Forrest Tucker. When Filmation made thier Ghostbusters cartoon, they stated that the characters were the grandsons of Storch and Tucker, but that Tracy was the same gorilla. I wanted to mash it up so I decided to up Tracy in a proton pack and coveralls from the â84 movie (though I added a t-shirt with the filmation logo under it, one extra touch), integrating him into the Columbia Ghostbusters as well. âMage circled me to check out the pack as I pinted out the christmas lights and laundry detergant caps that made up the prop. He laughed as I excused myself to head inside.
Living inside the Gorilla head was similar to wearing Mr. Freeze. I had to keep moving to keep circulation going in the mask otherwise air would get stagnant. I was right to make Concoction the premire for this suit though â itâs one of the few places that would really get the gag, and boy did they. I caught my buddy Jason as well as connecting with Nicole and spotting Annye and her husband Zeke on the other side ofthe hall. Wandering in to the art show I head Vanessaâs voice pipe up âI know whoâs in that costume!â. Itâs always good to be at Concoction. Much like Cinema Wasteland, itâs home. Even if thereâs no familiar faces around, yo ucan talk to anyone. Itâs one of those very few places where the words âMind if I share your table?â dosenât fill me with dread. I ate with strangers several times in the con suite chatting abotu the day and the goings on. In the corner, a rack full of battered old sci-fi paperbacks was available to browse. Thatâs one of those things I love about Concoction â the books. That heavy literary focus helps it feel a lot like the Star Trek conventions of the 80âs. Roger Zelazney ut it best in Nine princes in Amber â âIt makes me feel comfortable and secure to have walls of words, beautiful and wise, all around me. I always feel better when I can see that there is something to hold back the shadows.â
I had my own book with me, a copy of my battered old âDreams ofthe Ravenâ by Carmen Carter, but honestly, I barely touched it. During lunch, my table mate and I listened to the energetic conversation going on next to us.
âSee, Scooby Doo dosenât ever interact with anyone else on the team. Thatâs because he dosenât actually talk â itâs just that Shaggy is high off his gord the entire time! And anyone who thinks Daphne and Fred are together is nuts. Fred is asexual â heâs totally oblivious. Daphane is one of those spoiled rich girls â sheâs just there to play with him and break his heart. He looked like someone she could manipulate like that. But man, she HATES ShaggyâŠâ
The volume occasionally elevated to near shouting. I looked over at my tablemate. Like mine, her eyes were wide in disbelief behind her tablet.
âThis is the best panel of the weekend!â
Back in the actual programming, I sat in on Knightmageâs Cosplaying for Charity panel. Halfway he paused to shake his head laughing at me, sitting in the back.
âThe gorllia just keepsâŠSTARING at me!â
âI can fix that!â I exclaimed and brought down the Ecto Goggles, covering the unblinking gorilla eyes.
âThatâs not better!â
As the evening wore on I wandered over to the comedy showcase. Concoction is the only other convention I know of besides Monster Bash that includes stand up comedy and I always dig it. Two of the comics were late so the host kept us entertained with cat videos on the projector. About twenty minuets late, the set started. I whipped out my camera hoping to livestream the set (So I could save it later) but once t he material began to involve graphic depictions of The Simpsons knocking boots, I thought better of it. The show started to slow down with the second preformer.
âYou know what? Letâs talk about some stuff that you guys are intrested in. What do you want to talk about?â
He pointed at me. I comically looked behind me, making sure he wasn;t refrecing another gorilla. and then pointed to myself in exaggerated motions.
âMe?â
âSure!â What do you want to talk about? Bananas?â
âThatâs a very hurful stereotype,â I deadpanned. The room lost it.
Before I snuck out later the host walked by me and clapped me on the shoulder, telling me I got the biggest laugh of the night.
After five hours in the monkey suit Iâd had enough and shed the Ghostbuster look before returning to catch the Confused Greenies do improv games. I knew I wouldnât be able to stay fo the Saturday night show so I wanted to make sure I got to this one. They started out with a skit about aliens arriving on earth during Carnivale, then went into Whoose line type comedy. Close to midnight, I decided wisdom was the better part of valor, and popped out early, skipping the barfleet party to brave the hour drive back home.
I was back around ten the next day, this time clad in my cumbersonme Slimer costume.I always seem to do themes at Concoction. Itâs something that was coincidental at first but now has pretty much become intentional. As much as I like Tracy, I didnât feel good about entering him in the costume contest. Heâs mostly assembled. Itâs a wierd assembly, but other than the proton pack, feet and googles itâs all stuff I bought. Slimer on the other hand, is 100% made from scratch -and heâs not been out nearly as much as Iâd like. Still, Slimer wasnât the costume I was really looking foreward to. I couldnât wait to see my friend Annyeâs Iron Marvel. Sheâd crafted the Captian Marvel suit out of foam insted of leather and the result was nothing short of spectacular.
We were stked to discover that Guy Allen was set up again in the Annex and headed over there to get some professional photos done (I so rarely get that opprutunity).
I managed to catch some of Jim OâRearâs panel on horror before stopping over at his table and getting my Dawn of the Dead poster signed. He asked me if I was a Romero fan. I nodded. OâRear expanded on how Romero was such an influence on him.
âMan, I saw Night of the Living Dead, and it changed everything for me. I was like â this. I can get into this.â
OâRear ended up at the table with Jason, Tina and me for lunch.
Saturday consisted of the Doctor Who panel, the costume contests and picking up dragons for the kids. I made sure to grab a photo with Mogchelle who was dressed as Sabrina â my daughter Maddie is a huge Sabrina fan and just discovered the old mangas coming off the new TV show. I found her an old Archie with Sabrinia in it as well. Even the Cat got something. I found an adorable catnip Cthulu for Sparky. It was to my great reluctance that I had to cut out early, but Clue was screening at the Cedar Lee at 9:30 with a live shadow cast and I couldnât miss it. But Iâll tell you this much; Iâll be back at Concoction next year!

Literature review (with out bibliography)
What I read to feed my (art) seed.
I am often asked, what area of art am I studying, and sometimes I want to say I am a painter, or sculptor, because I feel like that's the familiar answer that people expect. But alas, I am neither, and maybe both, along with, drawer, writer and marginal infiltrator. I am (dis)assembler of grammatical structures, (de)colonizer of spaces, and (re)constructive meditator.
Is this what you would classically call âartistâ?
No, I think itâs what you would classically call âcon-artistâ.
To be that confident-artist though, I have to know my shitâŠand so I read. This year, I am Modern MÄori artist, who loves science-fiction and questioning authority, because like some punk once said, âauthority is only a system of controlââŠmaaaaan. But the more I read, the more I learn how much I donât know, and that âauthorityâ has systematically controlled me from learning about my own culture. So the perks of a contemporary art degree is, I can use this time to study whatever I want. When you think of me, think of terms like âSpace-MÄoriâ or âAstronesianâ, cause here I come baby. Iâm taking this spaceship into my own control and using the knowledge of my tupuna to guide me into poetic, futuristic MÄori art-jams through time and space.
Matariki, the star of the year, 2017 Rangi Matamua non-fiction
Matariki, the star of the year. It is full of insights and knowledge of MÄori astronomy that I had never encountered before. One of the most exciting things about this book, is that it is MÄori knowledge, told from a MÄori perspective. We are in the age of MÄori taking agency of our knowledge and legitimizing it. In the past Eldon Best had written about MÄori astronomy and gathering what he could understand of the vast knowledgeâwhich at the time was far superior than the European counterparts (3)â but he couldnât grasp it all, and also couldnât understand properly the way MÄori saw the stars. For example Best translated âMatarikiâ literally, âmataâ meaning eyes, and ârikiâ being a plural of âitiâ which means small, so he told the world that Matariki meant small eyes. But Matamua revokes this incorrect translation. The story of the word Matariki does indeed include eyes, but they are in no way small. The ariki Tawhirimatea was so distort with the separation of his parents Ranginui and PapatĆ«Änuku that he tore his eyes out and threw them up to the heavens where they landed on Rangiâs chest and stayed there, creating Matariki, Te Mata o te ariki Tawhirimatea, which means the eyes of the god TÄwhirimÄtea.
I have been reading this book, as research to feed into my own art practices and alsojust out of interest and wanting to know more about Te Ao MÄori. There is a story inMatamuaâs book about Te Waka o Rangi, captained by Taramainuku. Matarikimarks the prow of this waka. Taramainuku lets down his net and pulls up the spirits ofthe dead. They wait there on his waka until the next Matariki season where the wakacan be seen again rising just before the sun. When it is time to celebrate Matariki andthe coming of the new year, it is also the time to let go of the dead as Taramainukureleases all the spirits from his waka and they go into the heavens to become stars.Stories like these totally fall into my astronesian space MÄori undertones of my workthis year, MÄori been space MÄoriâs since way back.
The Lathe of Heaven, 1974 Ursula K. Le Guin Fiction
I read this book over the summer just been. While stuck in the hump of the bookâ which often happens to meâLe Guin just up and died. Her death wasnât so unexpected to her family, Iâm guessingâshe had been sick for a while, and she was 88 years oldâbut the idea hadnât crossed my mind, or rather the actuality. Probably because in my mind Le Guin was more like a hero, or the high priestess of sci-fi, or arch mage, maybe even close to divinity, but in actuality, she was human. So propelled by mourning and longing, I searched the pages of The Lathe of Heaven, looking for her. If at the time, I was worried at all about losing Le Guin and her genius I was quickly reassured in my faith. While a lot of Le Guinâs books have an anthropological base from which her social-political commentaries spring, The Lathe of Heaven moves more from philosophical questions. If you had the ability to change the world for better, should you? and could one even do such a thing against the formidable force of nature? Le Guin brings into focus human ambition to play God, only to back-hand that destructive notion by illuminating our very own human nature and âall the stuff we carry around in usâ(125).
I guess the only relevance this book has to my art practice at the moment is that it is writing, and it is science fiction. I am mostly looking at MÄori and Pacifika artists, but am not limited to this, and Le Guin is formative for me. In The Lathe of Heaven Le Guin challenges authority and warns about messing with nature, and reminds us how small we humans are. I think these are good things to think about and are a part of what I keep in my mind when I do anything.
Sleep Standing/MoetĆ«, 2017 Witi Ihimaera with Translation by HÄmi Kelly Fictional, based on true a true story
In this fictional retelling of the battle of ĆrÄkau, Witi Ihimaera educates his audience on the historical three-day battle that ended the Waikato land Wars in 1964. Iâm not a huge fan of Witi Ihimaera writing, but this seemed like a good way to learn about thebattle of ĆrÄkau without having to read a history book, and also from the perspectiveof MÄori. I am NgÄti Maniapoto, and itâs frustrating that I know about the first andsecond world wars and the Oregon crossing but I donât know about the Waikato landwars, which is where I am from and where I spent the majority of my life. Iâm tryingto be this modern MÄori artist, but because of colonisation, I donât actually know ahuge amount of about my culture, and so reading this book helps. It also helps me torecognize writing that I wouldnât call badâŠjust, not for me.
Nga Moteatea Volume I, 1928 (1959) Sir âpirana Ngata, Pei Te Hurinui Jones non-fiction
I first remember hearing about Nga Moteatea a few years ago when my mum and Aunty were talking about one of our tupuna in the book, my great, great, great, grandmother, HÄmÄ Spencer. But I hadnât actually opened the book until a couple weeks ago. The books became relevant to me as research and inspiration for my own studio practice, one of the weeks when my mind and body are exhausted of creativity, so reading is the best thing to do.
Iâve been trying to read as much MÄori poetry as I can over the past year, and Nga Moteatea are recordings of the oldest poetry that we have. I think what I find most beautiful is the rawness of the emotions in some of the compositions. Matangi-Hauroa, in lamenting for the brave, talks about being woken in the night by visions of grief and lost companions âGive me a sharpened obsidian to lacerate my skinâŠ..take away my blood, my bodyâs essenceâŠso that all you may see âtis indeed myselfâ (227). There is so much reference to places and nature and gods in these compositions as well, which have more weight or something then when similar subject matter is mentioned in more modern poetryâŠWell it feels like that reading this book.
Puna Wai KĆrero An Anthology of MÄori poetry in English, 2014 Reina Whaitiri, Robert Sullivan non-fiction
There are many politically charged opinions around the use of Te Reo MÄori and English, but there is a nice line in the introduction of Puna Wai Korero, that goes something like, English gave MÄori a whole new language in which to describe their poetic aspirations. The book is homage to Hone Tuwhare whom Whaitiri and Sullivan acknowledge as âAotearoaâs poet laureate.â I have read only a handful of Poems in this book, and have so many more to get through, not that it is a task, I just tend to read poetry a lot slower than anything else, I like to take my time with it.
I donât know if it's a strange or dangerous thing, but I am always interested in poems that are written to the dead, or about the dead, this seems to be a reoccurring theme in Puna Wai KĆrero, as well as other MÄori poetry collections. I guess it would only be dangerous if I was to write about the dead in an incorrect way, or not follow proper protocol around tapu. I can use books like Puna Wai KĆrero to know how to write about such topics appropriately. Another very useful thing this book does, is introduce me to a variety of MÄori poets and give me a taste of what their work is like.
Moon story, Small Holes in the Silence, 2006 Patricia Grace Fiction
Often Rona has been portrayed as a hot-tempered forgetful woman, in A.W. ReedâsMÄori Legends, he opens the story with this quote about Rona; âShe was loved by her husband but, as happens only too often, their lives were spoilt by her quick temper and the sharpness of her tongueâ(41). This quote is frustrating on so many levels, (âŠIâll mention only two) firstly Reed shouldnât be so god dam sexist, which he is throughout the entire book, he makes it seem like her hot temper was the cause of all her marital problems, and if only she quit her blabbering, her husbandâs love would make everything peachy, and secondly he shouldnât be so disrespectful of the characters he had the privileged to write about. In Patricia Graceâs version Rona has been under a lot of stress from an enemy attack and has been left with too many tasks of holding the small hapu together after their defeat. In her hurry to fill the calabashes with water, she doesnât just stub her toe and bang her shin like Reed tells, in Graceâsversion she full on breaks her ankle and is knocked unconscious. The moonâwho inthis story has been described as a conjoined twin to the earthâhas a beautiful butlonely existence. When the moon takes Rona, they become close companions andtogether âcollate the seasons, and roll and unroll the tidesâ (118).
Patricia Graceâs work is what I remind myself of when I write about women. There are so many slippery slopes in the English language that are oppressive to woman, and to work around them takes critical analysis of each word you use. Its like unlearning all the things you have been taught, and then reconstructing them to tell the story you want to tell. Epeli HauâOfa does a great job of re-constructing thought of how the pacific is viewed in his essay âour Sea of Islandsâ.
Tail of the Taniwha, 2016 Courtney Sina Meredith autobiographical (non) Fiction
This book helped me shape my own poetry over the past year, I think it started when Courtney Sina Meredith made me cry. She talked about saying goodbye to her family at the Auckland airport when going on her OE, and that longing when you are overseas and miss your family. This particularly made me cry because I had that same experience. The last time I saw my nana was at the Auckland airport, she always had a taste for drama and so she decided to die the first time I ever left the country. Courtney Sina Meredith helped me to feel confident enough to write about losing my nana and express those cooped up feelings I was holding onto.
There is an accessibility to Courtney Sina Meredithâs writing that is very appealing to me. She often uses âsimpleâ words, nothing too flashy if you know what I mean. Often people mistake this for a lack of knowledge of the English language (in my writing this is probably the case) but I view it as more of an egalitarian quality. I think there is skill in finding ordinary words and showing their beauty, what can I say, Iâm a minimalist.
Por Vida, 2015 Kali Uchis Album autobiographical (non) Fiction
I think more than anything kind of research of inspirational value, this album helps my soul. Sometimes when you go through big events in your life, the music you listen to at those times become sentimental or holds you in those places. But I have been listening to this album for a couple years now, over which I feel I have changed and grown a lot, and this album still cradles me in close, and sends me confident into the world. Maybe this is because me and Kali Uchis were born only 11 days apart and we share the same astrological sign, having a connection that is literally written in the stars. Well, I donât know if Kali would agree with that, but she probably wont read this, so Iâm claiming it. I love her smooth beats and how her lyrics talk about clichĂ©d situations, but donât come off as cheesy at all, well not to me. Kali shows us that she is a tough ass babe, while also showing us moments of vulnerability. This is what Iâm all about.
Cokes, 2018 Coco Solid Mixtape Autobiographical (non) Fiction
In an interview with under the radar, Coco solid says that there is no over arching theme to the mixtape, but if she was going to look at all of her work over all the years, there is always an âenduring idea of sovereigntyâ. Coco made this âenduring ideaâ pretty clear by releasing Cokes on Waitangi day this year. Coco Solid is one of those inspiring, multi-talented, pop queens, that there really isnât enough of. Over the past 20 to 30 years there have been many MÄori wahine who have done the hard work of making their voices heard. Names like Dame Whina Cooper, Merata Mita, Robyn Kahukiwa, Patricia Grace and Lisa Reihana are amongst the wahine we will forever be grateful for and look to for reassurance. These are the ones who laid down the road for the next generation to walk on, and Coco Solid is doing just that. I feel like a lot of our responsibility as contemporary MÄori is to uphold exactly that title of âcontemporary MÄoriâ. In the journey a lot of MÄori make in reconnecting with their whakapapa, we have to be careful to not become caught in oppressive, clichĂ©d orstereotypical ideas about MÄori and what âMÄoriâ âshouldâ be, relevant here is one ofthose oppressive ideas of MÄori being âstuck in the pastâ, a culture of ancienttraditions, when in actuality MÄori have always been innovators and quick to adapt. This doesnât mean âout with the old, in with the newâ we donât have to chose new overold, that is a particularly western idea of binaries, like I said MÄori are innovators, andI think our cultures allows for growth. In the RNZ two-part show on AotearoaFuturism, Coco Solid talks about making MÄori art that can be futuristic if we want, and not having to fit into the small box that colonisation would like to keep us in.Genreâs like science-fiction are not associated with MÄori art, we are only left withflora and fauna to create our art from, and Coco Solid just wants everything andanything to be available to her, and âis that too much to ask?â I find everything that comes out of Coco Solidâand she does it allâso empoweringbecause I donât make classically MÄori art, but I still want my work to be of Te AoMÄori and Coco helps to give me the autonomy and agency to go on my SpaceMÄori, Astronesian pursuits.
fafswagvogue.com 2018 FAFSWAG, NZ on Air Non-(science)FictionÂ
What makes this website so good, is that these are real people, battling in real placesin Auckland, but it creates the (un)reality of some futuristic city, where faâafafine runthe show and glamorously dance battle each other.
So much of what FAFSWAG do inspires me. They are decolonizing spaces andclaiming them as their own. The art collective Witch Bitch, do spoken wordperformances, I saw them perform down here last year, and was in awe of theatmosphere they created. Tamatoa from the FAFSWAGvogue website is one of thethree members of Witch Bitch, you can watch him perform through his story on thewebsite. FAFSWAG encompass everything that I want in my art, they are futuristicand yet work from Polynesian backgrounds, and bring that poly flavor into their9performances. They are strong and proud and support each other, by creating safe, decolonized spaces.

Design your home with a classic clock décor. But every time a jump 2nd have to be placed, all the atomic clocks throughout the globe have to be transformed. A keen fan of capturing, he wished to take advantage of winter daylight at the Royals' country hideaway, so he ordered all clocks on the estate to be set half a hr fast. Even more than fifty percent of your troubles are sorted when you carry along travel alarm system clocks. The End ofthe world Clock isn't a clock as well as it does not maintain time. Ease in timekeeping as it just needs to be rewound just once a month, thanks to the eight-day motion present in the majority of grandpa clocks. It desires the state split right into two time zones - to ensure that the south-east of the state - where, it claims, the populace desires extra night daylight for company as well as the outside way of living - could go its very own means. For 8 day clocks the music will only play at the top of each hour. This was in 1814, as well as by that time, although he was making a variety of clocks and chronometers, he wasn't able to transform them out in adequate numbers making a respectable living.
