the scene where loki visits thor on earth is sooo ominous. this is the first time loki imitates laufey (deliberately casting out the unworthy prince) and also i think a crucial point for loki becoming fratricidal. bc it's passive at this point. but. if he leaves thor there indefinitely and odin doesn't wake up on time, thor Will die. and he's preparing himself for the idea. he only really NEEDS thor to stay away for a few more days but he's still laying the groundwork for thor to stay away FOREVER. he means it when he says "this is goodbye."
#space viking tag#and as i've said before (though maybe a leetle overenthusiastically):#loki is doing this bc in his view even in the worst crisis he can't find any way to get thor to stop taking that authoritative tone with hi#(open communication? what's that?)#thor's never going to see him as anything but subordinate and one day it's going to get someone killed#meta#s: t2#ch: loki#ch: thor#r: laufey + loki#r: loki + thor#th: imprisonment + exile#th: cycles + scapegoats
