Tumblr media
A little while ago, Kanon tweeted about the new Damnation TA "one size fits all" underwear.
Tumblr media
Desperado:
"They arrived, but they're smalllll!
They don't fit me!"
Tumblr media
Kanon:
"If you keep wearing them, they'll get more comfortable~
More importantly, I'm waiting for you to post a photo of you wearing them~😈"
Tumblr media
Desperado:
"I see..."
I didn't expect anything to come of this but then Desperado entered the NJPW Concurso for the first time and...
He's wearing the Damnation underwear in the first photo?? And obviously uhh not wearing them in the second??
I checked his twitter and sure enough, he wore them for Kanon and I guess his excuse for removing them in the second photo is that they were too small to keep wearing?
Tumblr media
Despe (to Kanon):
"I was able to wear the Damnation underwear!
But I took them off again immediately!"
Tumblr media
Kanon:
"Amazing!
This will definitely win."

Thoughts on the new JJK Ch. so spoilers:
Within the recent chapters I wasn't entirely sure how to feel about what was going on BUT with today's chapter I've thought enough about it and finally made up my mind...
I REALLY like the direction it's been going with Maki & how Gege has gone about writing this. I don't know how it is in Japan specifically so I'm more so going off my own experience with western culture/media but when it comes down to strong female characters they are always out performed eventually by the main or another male character. These woman characters are strong BUT never stronger than the strongest men, they have to know their place.
Which is what I thought maybe what was happening or being exhibited in JJK recently HOWEVER this new chapter seems to reveal its actually more of a reversal of the trope & that kind of thinking. We see Maki having trouble with what use to be a strong male character that she (sort of) beat who now has become a curse. She is shown having difficulty fighting him now, even though it's pointed out he isn't that that much stronger compared to other stronger sorcerer's/curses. So why is she having difficulty? Some of us might think it's good old sexism of "oh she's a woman that's why" but we are introduced in the chapter before this new one two male characters and one in particular, an older man, borrows/takes her sword and swings at the curse does some noticable damage and says to her "why didn't you do that?" and says something to her that makes her realize that she "isn't seeing something". In the new chapter we see the other new character interact with Maki now and asking her to sumo with her in a domain and she accepts to the surprise of the new character who has been shown trying to find someone to sumo with him for some time. While they grapple with one another he talks to her and reveals this is his way of communicating to her or helps him communicate, & trying to help her get what the old man was saying.
Maki, a female character who is struggling a bit right now is being given support & SPECIFICALLY by male characters who not only don't know her at all & acknowledge she is strong, one even basically says she could take him head on! Not to mention in the previous chapter Gege through the sumo wrestler tells us about how "girls aren't even allowed to enter the ring" when it comes to sumo. And within this chapter says "fuck this gender roles/rules bullshit" with having a simple domain be a sumo match, something our female character is being asked, accepts & participates in & is even told by the actual sumo wrestler "that you would eat me up if I took you head on."
I just... I just think this is very neat and VERY cool of Gege and I think with this it isn't wrong to claim Maki is one of the best written female characters in shonen... ever. Sure that isn't the highest bar BUT it's actually seems to be done well so far. Now don't get wrong I'm not saying Geges perfect or anything BUT gosh its nice to ACTUALLY have a strong female character who is allowed to be strong, to get stronger then other male characters and who doesn't have to be femme about it either and actually has battle scars or well specifically battle burns & who is shown to have struggled because she was raised in a very male dominated/sexist home and shown "succeeding" over them (I don't know what's a better word for it, for murdering the family that oppressed you & murdered ur twin sister but I guess "succeed" kind of works lol).
Anyway, stan Maki she is the best & that's she has been my avatar/icon and will probably stay is for years, lol.
