does anyone else feel like the fandom treatment of jimmy (i.e. censoring his name, the ‘sorry you had to draw him’ jokes) is almost… stripping him of accountability a little?

like, he’s not some inherently evil fantasy creature that just can’t help but be horrible because that’s his nature. he’s a human person, and a human person who chose to do vile things. he’s CHOSE to abuse and rape anya, he CHOSE to crash the ship, he CHOSE to abuse curly, he CHOSE to drug and kill swansea, he CHOSE to manipulate daisuke into practically killing himself. these are all things he actively chooses to do and he genuinely thinks he is right in doing them. he chooses not to feel guilty.

the whole point is that he’s a person just like anyone else. a human being can choose to be this vile and disgusting. trying to erase his role in the story even if it’s just for a joke takes away from this imo

#i fully understand people not wanting to discuss him if he makes them uncomfortable #as a woman who has been in uncomfortable situations with men i really do understand it #but jimmy’s role in the story is so integral that you can’t really get away with not acknowledging him #and as a further comment: i’ve seen far more ‘j*mmy’ jokes than i’ve seen love for anya #it feels like people value hating a rapist more than loving their victims #and don’t get me wrong you SHOULD hate rapists #but the lack of acknowledgment of anya at ALL outside of what jimmy did to her is beyond irritating #she deserves better #anyways #mouthwashing #jimmy mouthwashing
