erm my mom is misleading some ppl into thinking her husband (ie my stepdad) is my biological father which would mean these ppl think i’m half moroccan and i cannot say shit about it bc she doesn’t want ppl to know they both have kids from previous marriages as if that’s sth to be ashamed of… and to make it more believable she’s explaining that the reason i don’t know the moroccan dialect is bc i simply don’t even know arabic which isn’t even true!!! i speak bahrani dialect and can understand basically every dialect with the exception of maghrebi arabic (esp moroccan darija) which i can understand bits of when toned down since it’s quite different dialect & not one i’m super exposed to…
i mean i guess it’s believable enough bc her husband looks more similar to us than she does i guess since he’s brown and all but it’s very weird… my mom also wants me to call my stepdad something more “fatherly” in front of ppl so it’s more believable which he’s not actually asking of me himself and he keeps saying i can refer to him by my name as i already do but my mom said it’s humiliating bc to moroccans he’s my father and how could i call my father by his name (i dont… my father is baba and it’s weird to call my stepdad anything but his name when i’ve only known him since being like. 24?). idk this is so weird to me. i don’t think there’s anything wrong with us coming from less traditional backgrounds
#she’s also odd bc people think she’s amazigh#and are surprised she’s from bahrain. but she tells them she has an amazigh grandmother#to explain why she looks so amazigh#which like. isn’t entirely false we do have ancestors from morocco#but when u say ur grandma is amazigh ur implying it’s something much closer than it is#she moreso means like…. great great great great etc grandmother#so distant it probably wouldn’t show up as amazigh anywhere on dna tests for us i assume#she’s so weird 😭😭😭😭😭
