I have two universes that I write in: canonverse and the self-indulgence AU.

Warden

Harea Mahariel. Dual-wielding rogue. Romanced Alistair. Became Arlessa of Amaranthine and then lived in Kirkwall for a few years where she had a brief relationship with Anders.

Self-Indulgence AU

My second universe is what I’ve been calling my self-indulgence AU. It started pretty simply; I just decided I wanted to make myself in Inquisition’s CC. I made a little backstory for my character. And then I sat down and started writing and ended up with a 25 chapter fic. I like to think I’ve inspired several other people to write their own self-indulgence AUs. It really is a lot of fun, and it’s a good exercise to write DA stories from someone other than the Inquisitor.

Warden

Sophie Amell. I actually made Sophie long before I started this self-indulgence AU, but she fit in perfectly with the theme. She’s a battlemage from the Fereldan Circle who romanced Alistair, but after he became king, they broke up and she ended up in Amaranthine just in time to romance Anders and Nathaniel.

I affectionately call her fic “Sophie fucks her way across Ferelden” because she has four canon romances, all men I’d let into my pants in real life.

According to DA lore, this branch of the Amell family had four children, all mages. I discuss Sophie’s siblings (including pictures of each of them) in this post.

Fic: She has an older story that I wrote for DA polyamory week 2016, which you can also read on AO3. I’m also working on her main story The Life and Times of Sophie Amell, which you can read on tumblr or on AO3.

The real stars of my self-indulgence AU are my original female characters. There are two main ones, Rose and Ceri, and a new addition, Nis.

Rose Wedgwood. Storm mage, spirit healer specialty. She was in the Fereldan Circle when it fell during the Blight, but she survived up in the Harrowing chamber as blood mages slew almost everyone else. She had a huge crush on Cullen before the Blight, but his actions directly after the Circle was saved by Warden Amell made her afraid of him. When she runs into him again in Haven where she’s working for the Inquisition, they have to navigate old feelings and old fears.

Fic: Rose’s main fic is my longest yet, The Fire and the Flood. I’m also kind of working on a modern AU for her, where she’s a researcher at the CDC.

Ceri Adaar. Ceri is an unusual character as she’s a Vashoth who was orphaned very young and was taken to a Circle. They didn’t realize she was a Vashoth at first, they just knew she had ice magic. She had a hard childhood growing up in the Ostwick Circle, made more bearable when she met her templar lover, Eva. When Eva died during the rebellions, Ceri set off on her own across Thedas. She joined up with a merc company for a while before ending up in Haven as another healer. She romances Rylen.

Linise “Nis” Tillahnnen. Dual-weilding tempest. Another unusual character, as I’ve written her both as the Inquisitor and as a part of the self-indulgence AU.

As the Inquisitor, (which is NOT her canon) Nis volunteered to take her sister’s place in the Conclave. Her sister, the clan First, was a few months pregnant and Nis wanted to keep her safe. Even after she wakes with the anchor, she’s still thankful that her sister is alive and well, and that her little nephew was born healthy.

As a member of the self-indulgence AU, Nis has a darker story. She’s a Dalish hunter who was away from her clan when slavers attacked. Those the slavers didn’t take, they killed and burned. She tracks the slavers, but loses them when they board a ship in the dead of night. When she returns to the place her clan was lost, she sees the Chargers and tries to defend her home from them before she knows who they are.

Bull invites her to join the Chargers, and she does. The rest, as they say, is history.

Inquisitor or not, she romances Krem.
