less good part about being the editor friend: read 10,000 personal essays in three days and be abjectly horrified at friends' personal writing skills
#i speak in jest; i've only read like four personal essays so far bc 'tis the season y'all for college apps#and also to crash the uc website and leave many dawdling children crying#one of my friends originally said i shouldn't read her piqs bc i know her too well but i argued that my skills as a writer#would help her strengthen her essays and the fact that i know her so well would mean i could help her portray herself in the best light#l u c k i l y i am a good kid who finished all her college app stuff before thanksgiving break and got to focus on me calc project#my friends they can be good at analysis or formal writing maybe but apparently personal writing is an Issue oh boy#makes me realize that even though i babble in MY commonapp essay it has a smooth flow and clear theme tying it together#my friend giggled when she saw that i called the essay reader 'old sport' bc i was like 'uhh how to refer to essay reader' lol#she also said 'the bEES' KNEES?? don't u dare bring the bee movie into this' but in mY DEFENSE the bees' knees is a GOOD PHRASE#i actually like reading my friends' piqs bc i get to see how they condense themselves into 350 words#and i'm just here like 'the forefathers have warned me. i have done much internal thinking. i know how to do this HAHAHA'#花話
