there’s a chance that this is a widely held belief but in the case that it isn’t—hear me out. i don’t think buck realized that, during their breakup, tommy had told him he wants forever with him. that tommy didn’t breakup with him because he doesn’t want forever, he broke up with buck because he wants forever. he aches for forever. but his fear has led him to believe that forever isn’t his to have, regardless of his desires. tommy knows that (well. in complicated ways i would argue but i’ll come to this another time), we know that, but i don’t think this is something buck has fully realized. and this isn’t a dig at buck’s competence. not at all.
what buck was ready for that night was (what i’m assuming is) their weekly date-night out. they’d go out, watch a movie, get some dinner, come back to buck’s and spend the night together luxuriating in each other’s presence, as they often did. just a sweet night together that would be made, in buck’s mind, all the sweeter by asking tommy to move in with him and tommy accepting (because i do believe buck thought he’d say yes). and maybe he believed that their date-night out wouldn’t just be their usual date-night out, it would be a celebratory one marking an important milestone in their relationship.
and so, buck went from riding this high of asking tommy to move in with him, of leading this important next step in their relationship — likely believing that the conversation would end in them moving in together — to being told no and being broken up with instead. as in—he got hit and shot down twice. first, with tommy telling him that he couldn’t move in with him. and second, with tommy consequently breaking up with him. the latter (the breakup) being something he didn’t even process until the very end, when he asked tommy for clarification. and this lack of processing, in my opinion, was due to a combination of: buck’s own high expectations of tommy’s potential answer because he wasn’t privy to tommy’s fear (which could be its own discussion) and overall, the very abrupt nature of the breakup itself which carried a ton of emotional whiplash. but once buck did understand that he was broken up with, i think that’s all he was able process.
given all of this, i would care to bet he absolutely didn’t register what was, essentially, tommy’s declaration of love to him during that emotionally hectic moment. i also don’t think that it’s something he’s realized since then. again, not a dig at his competence, but more so the emotions surrounding being broken up with taking precedence in his mind. and this would ultimately explain in someway, why he’s trying not to give into his urges—into his desire to call tommy. and why he’s baking instead.
but also, we know that he wants to reach out and was going to do so when he caught tommy bubbling him (until he was interrupted). so i do trust that he knows tommy likes him, i don’t think he doubts that, but he’s hasn’t realized or processed the full extent of tommy’s feelings. and given that, i’d say that buck’s desire to text tommy (as far as the mid-season finale) is largely fuelled by his own feelings (which is a good thing and in my opinion, shows growth). as, buck knows what he wants and that’s tommy—now and in the future. maybe he’s not able to express it through words but at his core, he knows that everything he expressed to him that night, he did so because he meant it (and plans to mean it). so, if or when buck realizes tommy also wants forever but his fear is keeping him from taking that chance, i do believe buck would immediately reach out and challenge him.
#bucktommy#this analysis is based off of what we know and what we got#in spite of the bad execution i do think character analysis is possible#now do i think the writers will explore it in this way? or do i think they’ve thought this deeply into it? no#but i do believe this interpretation to be in line w canon#as always curious to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions

⊹ ࣪ ˖ in which dae-ho finds comfort and reassurance in your unwavering embrace
the sound of the gunfire still echoed faintly in the distance as dae-ho stumbled back into the room, his chest heaving with panicked breaths. his usually steady gaze was wild, and his hands trembled, almost as if he couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. the chaos of the outside world, the guns, the people who had fallen—it was too much. his feet felt like they were made of stone, and yet, somehow, he moved toward you.
he didn’t stop to explain himself to anyone. not even when others around him whispered questions, their concern mixed with confusion. his eyes only searched for one thing—one person. and when they locked onto you, he bolted toward you without a second thought.
your heart skipped a beat when you saw him. dae-ho wasn’t the type to panic, wasn’t the type to show fear. yet, here he was, all of his strength seemingly drained away in an instant. without a word, he reached for you, his trembling hands gripping your shirt with desperation, his forehead pressing against your chest as if seeking refuge in the only place that felt safe.
“i—i couldn’t—” he stammered, his hands trembling as they reached out and gripped your shirt. his face was pale, his usual confident mask shattered. “i froze. the guns… i just…” his voice cracked, and he looked up at you with wide, terrified eyes.
“hey, hey,” you whispered, gently pulling him back so you could look him in the eye. “you’re okay now. you’re safe.”
he shook his head frantically, his dark hair sticking to his damp forehead. “they’re gonna think i’m weak,” he whispered, his voice raw. “i couldn’t do it. i ran.”
“stop that.” you placed a finger over his lips, quieting him, also softly brushing a strand of hair away from his face. “you’re not weak, dae-ho. you’re human. you don’t have to be anything else.”
he stared at you for a long moment, as though your words were something he didn’t quite understand at first. but then, slowly, a soft breath escaped his lips, and the tension in his shoulders seemed to lessen, if only slightly.
“i should’ve been braver,” he muttered, his voice small. “i should’ve…”
“no,” you cut him off, wrapping your arms around him and pulling him into a tight hug. “you don’t have to be brave all the time. you’ve already shown bravery by getting through this, by making it this far. you’ve made it through the hardest part.”
dae-ho clung to you like a lifeline, burying his face in your shoulder as he let out a shaky breath. his usual cocky demeanor was gone, replaced by the vulnerable side of him that he rarely showed anyone.
“i don’t want to lose you,” he murmured, his voice muffled by your green jumpsuit. “i couldn’t…” his hands gripped you tighter as if afraid that if he let go, you might disappear.
“shh, i’m right here,” you reassured him softly, stroking his hair to comfort him. “you’re not going to lose me. i’m not going anywhere.”
his breath slowed, his chest rising and falling against you in a calming rhythm. “promise?” he whispered, his slightly glossed over eyes looking up at you and his voice barely audible.
“i promise,” you whispered back, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. “i’m not leaving you, dae-ho. not ever.”
for a moment, the chaos of the games, the danger, the fear—it all seemed to disappear. all that remained was the quiet reassurance of your words, and the feeling of him in your arms.
ೃ⁀➷ liv’s note. hii okay so i binged squid game in like a day (don’t ask about my sleep schedule), and when dae-ho showed up, i was OBSESSED. but then i went looking for fics and realized there’s like… nothing out there for him?? so i had to fix that. hope y’all enjoy this little blurb because he deserves all the love ⋆. 𝜗𝜚 ˚⋆

guest lecturer - part two
pairing: tyler owens x student!reader
summary: when tyler owens shows up in our meteorology class to give a guest lecture, you are left just as speechless as all the other girls. but, tyler is just as awestruck by you.
word count: 3.8k
part 1
Ever since accepting the internship with Tyler, you’d been an anxious mess.
You were overthinking everything. Why did he want you specifically? Did that mean he was actually into you? Or was it just because you were smart and capable?
You spent many sleepless nights wondering how he felt about you. You had no idea if he was actually attracted to you or if you were just a one time, spur of the moment decision.
A few days after you told Dr. Hannigan that you’d accept the internship, you got a text from Tyler. He’d somehow gotten your number from Dr. Hannigan.
He didn’t even have to mention his name for you to know it was him.
Unknown number: “They say spring break can get pretty crazy ;)”
You: “Tyler?!?”
Unknown number: “You already know me so well, gorgeous”
That was the last time you’d talked to him.
You didn’t want to embarrass yourself. So, while it would have been clear to anyone else that he was into you, you found yourself doubting it.
Somehow, you convinced yourself it was just flirty banter. So, you didn’t attempt to reciprocate it.
Normally, you had no problem knowing a guy was into you. Something about Tyler made you feel like an oblivious schoolgirl. You were mortified by even the possibility of humiliating yourself in front of him.
But you allowed yourself a pinch of optimism, and you packed your cutest bras in case that was where the week took you. You also picked out an outfit that was the perfect mix of cute and revealing to wear on the plane, since it would be the first time Tyler had seen you in a month.
When the plane landed, you could feel your nerves coursing through you. You anxiously tapped your fingers against your thigh. Normally, you were a pretty patient person, but not when you knew Tyler Owens was waiting for you on the other side of the airport.
You stared up at the seatbelt sign, hoping you could psychically make it turn off. Instead, the light seemed to mock you.
All you could think about was Tyler. You were excited to see his reaction to seeing you again. The possibilities seemed endless, which excited you.
You smoothed out your jeans and your tight tank top. It felt a little more western than your usual style, but you figured it would be appropriate for Oklahoma. As an added bonus, you hoped Tyler would like it.
You were brought out of your thoughts by the beep of the seatbelt sign turning off. You practically leapt up from your seat. You snatched your suitcase and managed to be one of the first people off the plane.
You were practically running through the airport. You didn’t know what was in store for this week, but you were eager for it to begin.
Your eyes scanned around the pickup area. You saw dozens of people waiting to pick up their family members. You searched for that all too familiar set of green eyes.
Over the chatter of dozens of conversations, you heard someone call out your name.
Your eyes snapped to where the noise came from. Instead of finding a certain cowboy meeting your gaze, you saw a woman.
Her dirty blonde hair was thrown up into a ponytail. Your confusion was written all over your face, so she smiled at you and waved you over.
“Hi, I’m Kate. I work with Tyler. He asked me to come pick you up.” She said, shaking your hand.
“Ohhh okay. Thank you. It’s nice to meet you.” You said, failing to hide the disappointment in your voice.
You felt like such an idiot.
You had really been convinced Tyler was going to pick you up. The small amount of hope you’d been holding onto left your body. You felt like you had misread this entire situation.
You should’ve known it was stupid to assume Tyler invited you to continue whatever happened in your professor’s office. This wasn’t personal. This was purely academic, and you were just the best candidate for the internship.
If he’d been into you, he would’ve been at the airport.
You felt mortified.
“Oh god, you were expecting Tyler, weren’t you? I’m so sorry.” Kate quickly apologized, picking up on your disappointment. You shook your head. “No, you don’t have to apologize. I was just being stupid.” You said, trying to hide your embarrassment.
All you wanted to do was hop on a plane and go back home.
Kate probably thought you were so pathetic. You just hoped she didn’t mention any of this to Tyler.
“No, it wasn’t stupid. Tyler really wants to work with you. He hasn’t shut up about your midterm paper in weeks. He said you’re one of the smartest people he’s ever met. Something came up today. That’s the only reason he’s not here to pick you up himself, I promise.” Kate told you.
You appreciated the sentiment, but you were pretty sure she was just trying to save your feelings.
The ride to their base camp was long. You and Kate talked about your studies and some of the experiments she was working on. But you were still overthinking everything.
She pulled the truck into the parking lot of a motel alongside a big camp of other trucks. You noticed a bar and a diner across the street from the motel.
You both got out of the truck, and you grabbed your suitcase from the back. “Here you go. I think you’re in room 261.” Kate said, handing you a key.
“Hey, Kate! You’re back.” You heard someone exclaim. You glanced over your shoulder and saw two guys walking towards you. Kate waved at the two men and gave them both hugs.
“You must be Y/N. I’m Javi, and this is Boone. Tyler’s told us a lot about you.” The one man greeted you. Before you could respond, Boone stood a step closer to you. “He didn’t mention how pretty you are.” Boone said, slowly shaking your hand.
Javi quickly pulled Boone backwards. “Why don’t you go get settled in your room? We were all planning on going to the bar tonight? I can come get you later.” Kate suggested, guiding you towards the motel.
As you walked away, you saw Javi elbow Boone in the side. “Come on, man, you remember what Tyler said, she’s off limits.” You heard him whisper.
You felt your stomach do a flip as you processed what he said. Tyler banning his friends from flirting with you had to mean something.
After you found your room, you flopped backwards onto the bed. Thoughts of Tyler swirled around your head. You wondered where he was and when you would see him.
As if on cue, you heard a loud truck outside with the radio blaring.
You walked over to the window and peeked out the curtains. Your eyes were immediately drawn to the big red truck pulling into the parking lot.
Tyler climbed out of the truck, running a hand through his perfectly messy hair. You felt a shudder run through you as he placed his cowboy hat on his head.
Tyler wasn’t your usual type, but there was something about him.
You wanted to run out and talk to him, but he’d know you’d been watching him, and you didn’t want him to think you were desperate.
You couldn’t help but admire his biceps as he lifted some equipment out of the bed of his truck. You watched him for longer than you cared to admit.
You remembered Kate said you were all going to the bar later tonight. You started to dig through your suitcase to pick out an outfit.
You grabbed a high-waisted pair of jean shorts that made your ass look great. You paired them with the black cowboy boots you brought, along with a lacy black tank top.
You also weren’t ashamed to admit you had a sexy red lace bra and panty set on underneath. You jumped when you heard a knock at your door. You quickly put on a cute flannel and grabbed your phone.
You opened the door and saw Kate. “You ready to go?” She asked you. You eagerly nodded and closed the door behind you.
You noticed yourself constantly looking around and over your shoulder for Tyler. Kate noticed too, but didn’t mention it.
You both immediately spotted Boone and Javi at the bar. They quickly waved you over. “Come on, ladies. We’re doing shots.” Javi said.
Before you could question it, they handed you and Kate both a shot. The four of you clinked your glasses together and downed the shot. You winced and clenched your fist as you swallowed.
“Oh, fuck. Was that tequila? Can’t have too many of those or I’ll get fucked up.” You said, earning a chuckle from Kate.
“Now, that I’d like to see.” You heard a deep voice say from behind you.
You spun around to see who was talking to you. You didn’t really need to look. You already recognized the cologne.
Then, you saw those green eyes staring back at you. You could feel your eyes go wide, and your heart start to beat faster. “Oh, fuck,” you mumbled under your breath.
Tyler was the only one that heard it. The smirk on his face was all the confirmation you needed that he’d heard you.
“So, how’s the smartest girl I know?” He asked, cocking his head to the side. You quickly nodded your head, as an incoherent string of words left your mouth. “Yeah, no— uh huh. I’ve be— been good.” You mumbled.
He pulled you in for a quick hug. “I’m still makin’ you nervous, gorgeous?” He whispered in your ear as he hugged you. Goosebumps spread down your arms.
You both were completely aware of the way Boone, Javi, and Kate were all staring at the two of you. It didn’t take a genius to see the tension between you and Tyler.
Tyler licked his lips as he looked you up and down. He wanted to take in every inch of you. The way your shorts hugged your hips. Your shiny lipgloss, more specifically how bad he wanted to see it messily smeared across your lips.
The one thought he kept coming back to was how much better you’d look in his hat.
“I’m glad you were able to come.” He said, smiling down at you. You hadn’t remembered how tall he was. “Yeah, I’ll bet you’re glad.” Javi muttered under his breath with a smirk.
“C’mon, let’s go talk.” He said, gesturing towards the other side of the bar. His hand landed on the small of your back as he led you across the room.
With his large hand pressed against your back, you couldn’t help recall how effortlessly he’d picked you up and set you on the desk. You pushed away the thought and the warm feeling in your stomach that accompanied it.
“I meant it before. I’m really excited to work with you. We have some exciting tests and stuff that I think you’ll enjoy.” Tyler said, twirling you around so you faced him.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity.” You said, smiling up at him. You were wracking your brain for anything else you could say, but your mind had gone blank.
“You’re saying it like I’m doing you a favor. You earned this. Dr. Hannigan sent me a bunch of your work. You’re fucking brilliant.” Tyler told you.
You felt the heat rush to your cheeks. Before Tyler could say anything else, he froze, and his eyes locked on yours. He reached his hand towards you and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear.
You looked up at him through your eyelashes, waiting for his next move.
He softly interlaced his fingers with yours and pulled you towards the dance floor. He pulled you backwards into his chest until you both were pressed up against each other. His hot breath ran down your neck, giving you chills.
He confidently stretched his hand across your stomach. He was marking you as his in front of anyone. Every guy in the bar knew not to mess with you if you were with Tyler.
With a rare burst of courage, you grinded your hips back against him. He groaned in your ear. “Oh, fuck, gorgeous,” he mumbled. His voice came out deeper and huskier than you’d ever heard it.
He moved your hair out of the way and started kissing behind your ear. You felt a cocky smirk grow on your face. You knew exactly whose room you were ending up in tonight.
A soft whimper escaped your lips, making Tyler hips rut into you. “You know, I saw you watching me from your room earlier? It took all my self control to not go up to your room.” He whispered in your ear.
The room erupted into gasps, causing you both to separate. Your eyes drifted to the front door where Javi had just tripped over a barstool and fell face first.
“Oh, you’ve gotta be shitting me. He’s fucking wasted. I have to bring him back to his room. I will be right back. I promise.” Tyler said, running over to Javi’s side.
You found a stool at the bar to sit at while Tyler was gone. Then, Boone appeared at your side. He reeked of booze, and you could tell he was almost as drunk as Javi. “Hey, Boone. You doing okay?” You asked, gesturing towards the seat next to you.
He plopped himself down and nodded. “I saw you and Tyler getting friendly.” He said, wiggling his eyebrows at you. Your embarrassment rushed to your cheeks. The last thing you wanted was Tyler’s friends thinking you slept with Tyler to get the internship.
“Oh, you saw that?” You asked, nervously. He just chuckled and nodded.
“Don’t worry. He told us all about you and your little spicy time at office hours.” Boone whispered. You felt like your heart skipped a beat. You had full confidence Boone only mentioned it because he was hammered, but that meant Tyler had told him.
Your anxiety and overthinking went into overdrive.
Everything started to click into place for you.
You were his trophy. The hot, young college girl for him to brag about to his friends. He didn’t care about your work or teaching you. He just wanted to get in your pants and show you off to his friends.
“Oh, I’m gonna be sick.” You mumbled, heading for the front door. You felt unbelievably naive. Of course a guy like Tyler would act like this.
You walked across the parking lot, towards your motel room.
“Hey! Wait up, where you goin’?” You heard Tyler call after you.
You ignored him and kept walking, speeding up your pace. “Leave me alone.” You yelled at him over your shoulder when he started to follow you.
You kept walking, ignoring Tyler’s voice. You heard his footsteps speed up as he ran to catch up with you.
He jumped in front of you and put his hands up to stop you. “What’s wrong?” He asked you, confused.
“Why did you invite me here?” You asked him point blank. His expression only became more confused. “What do you mean? I already told you.” He said, furrowing his eyebrows.
Tyler searched your eyes for any idea of why you were so upset. “You told Boone…” you said, softly.
“Told Boone what?” Tyler asked, gently cupping your face. You sighed and pushed his hands off of you. “You told him that we almost hooked up. You didn’t want me here because you think I’m smart. You just wanted to have a hookup with a college girl that you could brag to your friends about.” You said, storming off towards your room.
Tyler could only watch in shock as you walked away.
As soon as you got to your room, you fell onto your bed with your head in your hands. You didn’t know how you were supposed to face Tyler tomorrow morning. You laid there for what felt like hours trying to decide what to do. You debated packing your bags several times.
You were taken out of your thoughts when there was a knock at the door.
You walked over to the door and opened it a crack. You saw a sympathetic Tyler.
“Please, let me explain before you slam the door in my face.” He begged you.
You stepped out of your room and closed the door behind you. “What do you want?” You asked, crossing your arms.
“I promise that our almost-hookup and my attraction to you has nothing to do with why I wanted you to do the internship. I really think you are brilliant. I’m sorry that I told Boone and Javi about us. I only did it because they’re my friends. I didn’t think about it from your perspective and realize they’re people that you’re going to work with professionally. I’m really sorry.” He said, genuinely.
You pursed your lips, thinking about whether you’d accept his apology. Something in his eyes made you want to trust him. “Thank you for that. I’m sorry too. I think I got anxious and started to overthink everything. I've never done anything like this.” You said, honestly.
You could see the relief on Tyler’s face. “C’mere,” he said, leaning in giving a short kiss.
“You know what? I have some baseline readings I need to get before tomorrow. You want to go on a little trip?” He suggested. As soon as you nodded, he swooped you up bridal style and carried you to his truck.
He helped you into the truck before jumping into the drivers seat. You both drove in silence until Tyler got where he wanted to go.
You both got out and walked to the back of the truck. You helped Tyler take some measurements in a peaceful silence. Every few minutes, Tyler would do something goofy to get you to giggle.
After you’d finished the measurements, he lifted you up into the bed of the truck, where he’d set up a blanket. You patted the seat next to you, so Tyler would join you.
“You want to know the best real-world tip I can give you for storms?” He asked, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. You looked over at him, waiting for his answer.
“Gotta listen to the wind and be able to know what’s happening just by listening. Here, I’ll show you.” He told you, opening his toolbox. He grabbed a small towel and carefully tied it over your eyes. “Listen, over to the left. You can hear the pressure shifting.” He whispered softly to you.
“The winds picking up over there.” You said, pointing over to the right side.
“Yep, that’s right, gorgeous. You’re a quick learner. It took me forever to recognize stuff like that.” He told you.
The wind quieted down, and the air felt peaceful. The only noise you could hear was Tyler’s soft breathing. You felt his large palm rest on top of your thigh. “What’re you doing?” You asked, softly.
There was a change in the air.
You felt Tyler’s lips on yours.
His hand cupped the back of your head as he kissed you. You quickly kissed him back. His other hand found your hip and laid you down. A groan escaped his lips as you ran your hands down his back.
Tyler eagerly tugged your flannel off your arms and threw it to the side. You pulled off your blindfold, and then saw Tyler unbuttoning his shirt. A soft whimper escaped your lips as you admired him.
“You’re gonna be the death of me.” He groaned, as you ran your fingers over his now bare chest. Your hands landed on his belt, quickly unbuckling it. He kicked off his jeans and laid back down on top of you.
“Been dreaming of this for a month,” he told you, leaving sloppy kisses down your chest. He tugged your shirt over your head.
His movements stopped when he caught a glimpse of the dark red lace of your bra. “Wait til you find out it’s a set.” You teased him. Tyler shuddered at the thought.
His grabbed at the belt loops of your shorts and quickly pulled them off your legs. “Eager, cowboy?” You teased. He could feel his pants begin to tighten as he looked down at you. “I’m never gonna forget this.” He mumbled, before burying his face in your neck and sucking on the soft skin.
“You been thinking about finishing what we started? You been lying in bed thinking about that day like I have?” He mumbled against your skin. His hands slid down your sides, stopping on your thighs.
He ran his fingers over the outside of your panties. You let out a soft moan, bucking your hips up against his hand. “Need you,” you begged.
Tyler slid your panties to the side. He ran his finger through your folds, collecting your wetness.
“You’re gonna feel so good, baby,” he almost moaned. You tugged down his boxers enough for his cock to spring out.
“Come on, Tyler, fuck me. I don’t think I can wait much longer.” You begged him.
“Oh, fuck, gorgeous. You’re so needy. I can’t say no to you.” He groaned, grabbing your hips. He lined himself up and pushed into your folds.
You shut your eyes, whimpering as he pushed into you. “I’m ready. I need you to move, please.” You mumbled.
Tyler quickened his pace and started thrusting into you. He roughly grabbed your hips and wrapped your legs around his waist. Your eyes rolled back as he reached even deeper. “Oh, fuck,” he grunted.
You wrapped his hair around your fingers. You screamed out his name, bucking your hips up into his thrusts. “Go ahead, gorgeous. No one can hear you. You can be as loud as you want.” He said, speeding up his thrusts.
You guided one of his hands between your legs. He smirked against the kiss as he started rubbing tight circles against your clit. A high-pitch moan escaped your lips.
“I’m almost there, baby.” He moaned against your lips. You nodded your head. “Me too, oh, fuck,” you moaned.
Your fingers scratched down his back. You felt a tightness in your stomach. “Gotta go faster,” he mumbled, thrusting his whole body into you.
Your back arched against the blanket. Tyler's thrusts faltered. “Oh, shit,” he grunted as he came inside you.
Your stomach jumped as you hit your peak. “Oh, fuck fuck fuck,” you called out, as you came with him.
Tyler slowed his pace and then collapsed beside you. “That was even better than I imagined.” He said, kissing your shoulder. You nodded, still catching your breath.
“I think I’m officially a spring break fan.” You agreed.

let me chase your demons away | l.howlett
First post of the New Year, hoping to write bigger and better things this year :)
Summary: Logan struggles to sleep... but not when you're around
Warnings: nightmares and panic attacks
Pairings: leaning more towards a fem!reader
Enjoy and please like and comment if you do. Something as simple as an emoji literally makes my day better so please don't hesitate to comment and obviously reblog to share my work.
Requests are also open if there is anything that people want me to write 💛
Logan had struggled with nightmares for as long as he could remember. Up until now, there had never been anything that could prevent the neverending terror loop his brain played on a night. Up until you.
You hadn’t been at the school long, Charles had invited you to come and teach English to some of the younger students, but Logan could tell there was something about you, something about your scent that made him relax. Your sleeping habits were just as messed up as his meaning that, whenever you both found yourself unable to sleep, you would both end up on the couch in the mansion’s living room, watching shitty movies to try and tempt you both to sleep. More often than not, it worked for Logan but little did you know that it wasn’t the mind numbing films or the peaceful silence, it was your company.
For weeks, Logan would simply allow himself to fall asleep on the sofa beside you and it was the best night’s sleep he would have all week. He would ensure there was a good amount of distance between the two of you, not confident enough that he wouldn’t have a nightmare and go all Wolverine on you. You would wait until he fell asleep and then arrange his legs and neck comfortably on the couch, laying the thick blanket over him and then heading off to bed.
When you were out on a mission or away from the mansion on a long period of time, Logan would have many nightmares. Nightmares meant a sleep deprived Logan and a sleep deprived Logan meant suffering for everyone else in the mansion. One night in particular, snow was falling heavily when Logan went to sleep and you were out of town, visiting some friends in a nearby village meaning a nightmare was 100% guaranteed. Snow was hard enough for Logan to manage, reminding him of Stryker and the physical and mental toll he went through.
He woke with a start, his chest heaving and feeling tight, dripping sweat and struggling to concentrate on taking deep breaths. He didn’t know why it occurred to him but for some reason his first instinct was to call you so that’s what he did, not even considering the late hour, knowing that you were more than likely awake.
In the next village over, your phone buzzing interrupted the conversation you and your friends were having over a bottle of wine. “Who’s calling you at this time?” Your friend, Georgia, asked with a smirk.
“You got a secret boyfriend, you’re hiding from us?” Faith nudged you with a cheeky grin but you just gave them a half smile, standing and excusing yourself to take the call.
“Logan? Has something happened?” You asked down the phone, alarmed by the heavy breathing and almost whimpers you could hear.
“I-I think I’m havin’ a heart attack bub.” He said and you knew from then what was wrong. Since when does the Wolverine have heart attacks?
“Logan, you’re having a panic attack honey. You need to take deep breaths, sit yourself down and stop pacing, okay? Are you sat?” You asked and heard the creak of a bedframe as the man grumbled an affirmative. “Alright, in through your nose and out through your mouth. It’ll pass, Logan, I promise.”
After a couple of minutes, his breathing began to even out the amount of noise he was making reduced. “I… sorry for interrupting your evenin’.” He ended the call quickly and you were left standing in the hall of your friends house, confused. Why did he call you out of everyone?
~~~~~~~~~~
A few days later, upon your return from your friend's house, Logan pulled you aside with a stern look on his face. “What happened the other night, didn't. Understand? Forget it.”
You look at him, confused and slightly insulted. “What? You think I’m going to tell someone or something? You think I think of you any less because of it?” Your protest seemed to throw Logan off guard and he looked at you with wide eyes and his mouth slightly agape. “I don’t know who you think I am, Logan but that’s not the type of person I am.”
~~~~~~~~~~
For the next few nights, Logan didn’t go downstairs to sit with you on the couch and watch shitty films, didn’t allow himself to bask in the comfort your company gave him. Instead, he suffered on minimal sleep and caffeine, causing headaches for everyone around him and snapping at every minor inconvenience in his life.
Eventually, you grew tired of it and grabbed him by his forearm just as he was about to head to bed, dragging him towards the couch. “Everyone’s tired of your shit, Logan. Sit on the damn couch, watch a movie with me and sleep.” You demanded, pushing him to his side of the couch and putting the blanket over him before plopping yourself down at your side, closer than the pair of you would normally sit. Logan resisted for as long as he could but pure exhaustion gave him no other choice than to relax and sleep. His eyes fell shut and within minutes he was asleep, snoring and drool coming from his mouth. However, instead of going off to bed like you normally would, you rested your head against his shoulder and let yourself doze off.
When the students and teachers of the school began waking up and racing downstairs to fight for the tv, they all fell silent at the sight of the notoriously grumpy Wolverine cuddled up with the cute English teacher, his face pressed into your hair as he spooned you, deep snores emanating for the man. Storm and Jean ushered the children out of the living room, telling them to leave the pair of you to rest for a little while longer while Scott immediately found a camera to take a photo to tease Logan with as soon as he woke up.

please don't be a snitch!
PAIRING caitlyn kiramman x f!reader
TYPE oneshot
NOTE this is in modern setting! reader has a twin, and they have opposite personalities (reader = a lil' shy; twin = brazen)
CW mature themes, alcohol use, suggestive content, strong language (cursing!!), anxiety/stress
11:59 PM — Friday night.
This was definitely a bad fucking idea.
You repeatedly glance at your wrist watch, legs fidgeting as you try so hard to not leave your twin sister alone. Heart ramming against your chest, you desperately hope your sister will soon get tired from dancing around the room and decide that both of you will just go home and rest. Because, anytime now, your strict parents would realize that both of you still aren’t home and would go berserk once they find out you’re out clubbing. In other words, you and your sister would be killed. Both metaphorically and literally.
This wasn’t your idea in the first place. The thought of random people just eating each other’s faces out, touching each other’s bodies where one thing leads to another… it, uh, just rubs you off in the wrong way. You just can't shake off the feeling that there's a big possibility that something bad might happen, with the alcohol driving people mad crazy. If your twin sister didn’t force you to go with her, you’d probably never step foot in a club. Ever.
You can’t help but cringe as you see your sister flirt with another guy for what seems like the twentieth time today. Both of them giggle on the corner of the room, shamelessly checking each other out. A minute later, the guy drags your flushed twin to one of the random rooms, no doubt going to do…whatever it is that they’re going to do.
Upon realizing what’s happening, your heart immediately drops to the floor. Despite having absolutely zero hook-up experience, you definitely know where that is going.
“That shithead,” you curse under your breath as you hurriedly try to follow your sister and her partner. Squeezing through the sweaty dance floor, you see your twin giggle as the guy playfully pushes her inside the room, followed by the door slamming with a loud thud despite the blasting disco music. You wonder how desperate could your sister be for deciding to follow a random man alone in a closed room knowing what could possibly happen.
Well, your sister did repeatedly say she was "dying to get laid" months prior. Maybe today was the day she was finally getting that.
But maybe today was also the day she’s going to die because she’s about to do something she might regret for the rest of her life (+ your parents will, again, definitely k-word both of you if she’s caught).
Before you could even approach the door, you spot a familiar blue-haired woman, sitting down cross-legged near the bar counter.
Caitlyn.
Upon seeing her, your heart drops the second time, beads of sweat forming on your temples. Both you and your sister should get out now, because if Caitlyn sees you and asks where your sister is, both of you should be prepared to never see the light of day again.
Here's the thing: Caitlyn's parents are close friends of your parents, so it's inevitable that you'd often meet each other. Both of you had never shared a proper conversation before though, just a few hello's and a "Can you please pass me the sauce?" over the table during family dinners.
One thing you know about Caitlyn though is that she always does what she thinks is right.
…She will be a snitch if she wants to.
The reason why her presence right now is so unnerving is because you can't forget the day how your mother made her promise that she should tell her immediately if "one of her daughters are caught doing crazy things", and Caitlyn always keeps her promises.
And just your luck, Caitlyn looks up at the perfect time, her piercing blue eyes locking on yours.
You freeze.
She tilts her head slightly, the corner of her mouth curling in what looks suspiciously like amusement. You can already feel the lecture forming, not from her but from your parents, the second she makes that phone call.
She picks up a glass, takes a sip, and then—oh no—stands up, walking through the crowd until she’s standing right in front of you, effortlessly poised despite the chaos around you both.
“Funny seeing you here,” she says, her voice smooth but carrying a note of dry humor.
“This—this isn’t what it looks like,” you stammer, hating how defensive you sound.
She raises a brow. “Isn’t it? Because from where I’m standing, it looks like your sister just disappeared into a room with a guy who probably doesn’t know her name, and you’re about to have a heart attack trying to figure out what to do about it.”
You wince. “Okay, maybe it is what it looks like. But—”
"But you didn’t want to be here in the first place,” Caitlyn finishes for you, crossing her arms. “And now you’re stuck cleaning up the mess.”
You nod, a little surprised she understands so easily.
“Let me guess,” she says, her smirk growing. “You’re worried I’m going to tell your parents.”
“Uh, yeah. Pretty much,” you admit, your voice barely above a whisper. The rate of your heartbeat increases each second, and you fidget your fingers.
Caitlyn sighs, shaking her head. “Relax. I’m not going to snitch.”
“You’re not?”
“No,” she says simply. Then she leans in slightly, her voice quieter but firm. “But I am going to help you.”
“Help me?” You blink, confused.
“Yes,” she says, rolling her eyes slightly like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “Because if you go barging into that room on your own, you’ll probably make things worse. So, let’s handle this together before your sister does something she regrets.”
You hesitate, unsure if you can trust her, but something about her calm, confident attitude is reassuring.
“Why would you help me?” you ask.
She shrugs, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Because I’ve been in your shoes before. And honestly? It’s better than having your mom yell at me for not stepping in.”
You groan, rubbing your temples. “Fine. What’s the plan?”
Caitlyn’s smile widens, just slightly, and for the first time, it feels genuine. “Follow my lead.”
Instead of heading toward the room, Caitlyn gestures toward the bar.
“What are you doing?” you hiss, looking between her and the door where your sister disappeared.
“Relax,” she says, grabbing two stools. “We’ll give it a minute. If we charge in too quickly, your sister’s just going to get defensive and make things worse. Trust me on this.”
You hesitantly sit beside her, tapping your fingers against the counter. Caitlyn orders herself a soda, which surprises you. “Not drinking?” you ask.
She shakes her head. “I like to keep a clear head in places like this. Too many people lose theirs.”
You nod slowly, watching her as she takes a sip. For someone who’s in a club, surrounded by chaos, she seems so calm, like none of this fazes her.
“So… do you come here often?” you ask awkwardly, desperate to fill the silence.
She laughs softly. “Not really. A friend dragged me out tonight, but she ditched me for some guy about an hour ago.”
You wince. “Sounds familiar.”
Caitlyn smiles, her eyes meeting yours. “Yeah, but at least I ended up with better company.”
You blink, heat rising to your cheeks. “Oh.”
There’s a beat of silence before she speaks again, her voice softer. “You’re a good sibling, you know that?”
You scoff. “I’m just trying to keep her out of trouble.”
“Exactly.” She tilts her head, studying you. “Not everyone would go through this kind of mess for someone else. It says a lot about you.”
Her words catch you off guard, and you find yourself fidgeting under her gaze. “It’s not a big deal.”
“It is,” she insists, her tone warm but firm. “And I think it’s admirable.”
Before you can respond, Caitlyn glances toward the door where your sister disappeared. She sighs and stands. “Alright, I think we’ve waited long enough. Ready to be the hero?”
You nod, your heart racing as you follow her. But as you walk beside her, you notice the way her shoulder brushes against yours, the way her presence somehow makes you feel less panicked and more… safe.
Your heart flutters again, and you stare intently on Caitlyn's back. BUT, your heart drops for the third time today as your phone rings.

“Add to cart~!”
You squeal in excitement, unable to contain your joy as you make your first purchase online after your payment came in from your first stream.
"Haha, I can't believe it. I can even afford to get same-day delivery."
JJ stands at a distance, watching you with his arms crossed and his lips in a thin line. His eyes are unable to leave your form, constantly trailing up and down your body, always finding itself on the round of your ass. He bites his lip, attempting to be discreet as he taps his fist on the surface of the countertop a few times before clearing his throat. "So, I assume it went well."
“You kidding?” You whirl your head towards him with shining eyes. “It went way better than i thought. I’m so relieved.”
JJ gives a bitter smile, his brow twitching slightly. “So you made some decent money then. That means you’re not going to stream anymore?” He says, making his way over, pulling at his shirt to tuck it over his pants in hopes it covers the visible erection.
“Hmm.. no, I might continue.” You say, watching as he takes a seat beside you, and his brows furrow. “What? I thought you made enough money for rent.”
“well, yeah, but I like being able to make so much money.. and I had a lot more viewers for my first stream than expected.” You reason, setting your phone down after making the purchase. “I mean, I don’t have to stress about finding another job that pays me so little, and with streaming, I can work any time, any day.”
JJ sits up straight as he narrows his eyes at your reasoning. Being able to make money fast was nice but it shouldn’t be at the expense of your body online. “[Name], what about all the creeps online? Who knows what kind of weird old perverts were saving videos and pictures of you?”
Your frown becomes evident on your face, but part of you knew he was right. Streaming wasn’t the safest activity and you didn’t want to sound greedy, but having that much money was more important to you right now. You’d only keep going to make enough to save for bills and stuff, while also saving enough for your own miscellaneous purchases. But..
“I know you’re right but i’ll be okay, J. Besides..” a flush overcomes your cheeks as you shyly look away, feeling embarrassed to admit this to your best friend.
“I kinda liked the attention.. It’s nice hearing and reading everyone complimenting me and liking what they saw. I might do more, but I won’t go crazy with it. I’ll only do it until I make enough in savings.”
JJ hitches a breath, his eyes widening when he hears your confession. It wasn’t anything serious but the way his cock twitches and his heart pounds makes him look away. “You..like showing off your body?”
“Y-Yeah..” You nod in confirmation, pink tints on your cheeks as you look away.
The blonde swallows a bit, holding his breath to gain some control as he turns away. “Shit.”
“JJ?”
“I gotta go. Talk to you later.” He abruptly stands and walks off, heading out of your house and to the door, shutting it behind him as he mounts his truck and drives away.
Your taken back and wonder if your confession drove him away, sighing softly and feeling a bit of guilt filling you up as you turn back to your phone and try to distract yourself.
“Who would’ve thought?..”
Rafe found himself repeatedly looking through your photos on your social media, in disbelief that you were on Kildare Island with him. And it pissed him off knowing how close you were with Maybank, seeing the many pictures of the two of you together.
If he didn’t know any better, he would’ve assumed you two were together.
But how has he never seen you before..? He’s practically grown up with JJ yet he can’t seem to recall ever seeing someone like you around.
Surely he’d remember someone so fucking attractive.. his thumb can’t seem to swipe away from your bikini photos.
Before he could admire any more, Topper sends him a text.
‘Bro, were you watching the link I sent you? Holy shit, she’s so hot. What I wouldn’t give to get a chance to fuck her.’
Rafe scoffs at the text as he rolls his eyes. Of course he noticed Topper's user donating money to your stream as well. Topper was really irritating sometimes. It seems all he could care about was sex and money. You definitely seemed like the type of person who was very sweet, innocent and pure.. someone who he could easily destroy and corrupt from how petite you were, as he hovers over you and slowly travels his hands down to your cunt, the same pussy you were rubbing just yesterday and—
“What the fuck?”
Rafe lets out a shaky breath, catching himself and his thoughts, unaware of his hardened cock in his tight jeans, the desperation to be freed evident from how painful it was becoming.
He brings his hand down and palms himself for a moment, doing anything to relieve himself before he grunts and pulls his hand away. There was no way he was going to be jerking off to someone he didn’t even know existed until now.
“Shit, I need some fucking air.” And despite the restricting pain of his jeans against his cock, he swipes his keys off his desk and heads out, taking his bike on a ride.
"Ugh, so damn stubborn." JJ plops down on his couch, dragging a hand over his face as he inhales heavily. He pulls out his phone and finds himself scrolling through social media. The blonde was sitting at home, frustrated at your insistence to keep streaming. Surely you made enough to cover rent for the next month or so, so why did you want to keep streaming for everyone to see?
It fills him to the brim with jealousy. No one should be looking at you in that way. Much less, a particular kook.
Shit, he was so distracted by you that he forgot what happened during your stream. "Fucking Cameron.. the nerve of that bastard." He scowls, conflicted about what to be more annoyed at. You continuing to stream or Rafe Cameron being one of your viewers.
“Delivery!”
Pounding on the door snaps JJ from his thoughts as he looks up from his phone, thumb instinctively shutting off the device to hide the fact that he was sifting through the photos of you two together. “Comin’!”
With a sigh, the blonde runs a hand through his hair as he makes his way out of his room towards the door. He opens the front door to see a familiar man behind the screen and he feigns a smile. “Rich, always a pleasure.”
Growing up on Kildare meant a lot of the residents knew each other, including the delivery man, who had a mutual disliking towards JJ, grimacing at the sight.
But JJ merely just shares a playful grin. “It wouldn’t kill you to smile, y’know. Afraid you’ll get wrinkles?” He jokes and the man rolls his eyes. “Shut it, Maybank. You’re lucky I don’t throw your damn package in the ocean.”
JJ gasps at that, widening his eyes childishly. “Well, that’s not very environmentally friendly!” He laughs as he takes the box from his hands. “But anyway, what the hell is this? I didn’t order anything.”
“Well, it’s not my problem now.” Rich hands over the device and pen for JJ’s signature. JJ fiddles with the box, inspecting it curiously before taking the device to sign. “What is it?”
Grunting in annoyance, the delivery man swipes the device from Jj’s hands. “The fuck should I know? Piss off, Maybank.”
Scoffing at the rudeness, JJ turns around and kicks the door shut with his foot before walking over to the counter in the kitchen. He finally sees the address line on the box and recognizes his house address but the name piques his interest.
“[Name]?” He murmurs, confusion lacing his eyes as he pulls out his phone. “Must’ve forgot to change it from last time..” He taps along the screen before reaching your contact.
« [Nickname] / Princess 😘😍 »
Out of curiosity, as he’s typing away a message, he goes over to a drawer and pulls out a pocket knife before heading back over to the package. It must've been the package you had ordered earlier.
‘Hey, a package came to my house with your name on it. Think it got sent here by mistake. Want me to drop it off?’
Once sent, JJ sets aside his phone and cuts through the top of the box with ease, expecting it to be some clothes or such you bought for yourself.
But the item inside was completely unexpected.
JJ’s mouth becomes dry as he attempts to wet it by swallowing whatever he could as he looks inside.
Inside the box was a remote controlled, vibrating toy.
“D-Did she buy this for her next stream..?” JJ breathily exhales, his jaw clenching at the way his hardening cock twitches at the imagination of you rubbing the vibrating wand over your clit, and the possible lewd noises you’d illicit.
“Fuck..” Maybe another stream couldn’t hurt. He was conflicted. He couldn’t let you do this on camera, but he’d be damned if the thought didn’t excite him. His mind reverts back to your words.
‘“I kinda liked the attention..”
“Y-You liked showing off your body?”
“Yeah..”’
JJ clears his throat as he closes back up the box, finding a roll of tape in his drawer and securing it back up before setting it somewhere else for you.
As he sets it down, his phone buzzes from a text from you.
‘DON’T OPEN IT JJ! I’ll come by and pick it up soon’
JJ grunts at the message and exhales sharply, turning off his phone. “Too late..” He mutters under his breath.
“Thanks, J. I’ll try and stop by later tonight. Need anything while I’m out?” You take the box from his hands, JJ seemingly uncharacteristically avoiding your direct gaze. Regardless, he shakes his head as he clears his throat, leaning against the doorframe as he crosses his arms. “Hey- So, you’re streaming today?”
You carry the box towards your car, visibly relieved to see it untouched and smile lightly before turning to JJ. “Yeah, why? You gonna try and talk me out of it again?”
“No-! No-“ He clears his throat again when he realizes his outburst and awkwardly scratches the back of his head. “Uh, just- good luck, y’know. I’m sure it’ll be great. And hey- we can reschedule tonight if you’re not feeling up to it.”
You set the box on the bottom of your car in the back and furrow your brows at his words. “Thanks. But we’ll see. I should be able to come over on time if I’m not busy, but i’ll let you know.”
“Of course.” The blonde manages a smile, sending you finger guns before he waves you off. “Drive safe.”
Entering your car, you wave goodbye before pulling out and driving towards the Yacht Club, on the border of the Cut and Figure Eight.
“Dude, you should’ve watched til the end of the stream. It was amazing.”
Topper’s voice is heard when Rafe Cameron steps onto the large dock, walking past various other patrons on the benches and tables, and stepping up to the bar where Topper and Kelce stood.
Kelce shakes his head at Topper’s gushing. “Nah, man, streamers aren’t my thing. I mean, why would I spend so much on some girl i don’t even know and won’t even get to touch.” Kelce notices Rafe approaching and nods at him in acknowledgment. “Hey, you agree with me right?”
“Agree with what?” Rafe says as he stands beside them and Topper scoffs lightly. “You watched the link I sent you right? God, she’s so hot. You should’ve seen what she did before she ended her stream. I bet she’s streaming again today.”
Rafe barely manages to hide his eye roll, his hands clenching into fists. If he was holding a glass, he was almost sure he’d crack it. Something in him stirred the more Topper talked about you, and it made him angry. He had to maintain his self control before he punched the shit out of him.
But it made Rafe confused. Why was he so angry every time Topper opened his stupid fucking mouth? He had the exact same thoughts about you.
Was it because another man was talking about you? It wasn’t like you were his. He hardly even knew you. Is it jealousy?
Tch. Rafe Cameron, jealous? He hasn’t felt jealous since years ago, when his then still alive father was always favoring his sister over him. Rafe Cameron was not jealous.
He barely pays attention to Kelce and Topper, and instead catches a familiar voice nearby.
“Thanks, Sofia. It was actually more helpful than I thought, so thanks for telling me about it.”
“No problem, [Name]. I actually watched it last night, you were great.” Her playful wink makes you laugh a bit bashfully and embarrassingly as you wave it off. “I’m still a bit shy but I think what I bought today will help me a little more this time.”
Sofia slides something across the counter for you and you send a grateful smile as you pick it up. “Thanks. Good luck with the rest of your shift. I should be free this weekend if you’re down to hang out.”
“Actually, this weekend was when I was planning to stream.” She says apologetically and you only grin at her. “I’ll be watching you then. I could learn a thing or two.”
You both share giggles with one another before she’s called somewhere else and waves goodbye to you. You wave farewell and take the item off the counter before turning away.
But as soon as you do so, you meet eyes with someone, who’s staring intensely at you with parted lips, almost like they couldn’t believe you were standing before them.
Giving an awkward smile, you pull yourself away from the counter and turn to leave, heading back to your car.
“Time to go.”
a/n : so ima be honest, i didn’t fully watch every episode of obx, so idk how completely accurate the places are and the availability of pogues being able to just enter these establishments, so im changing it up to just being, whoever’s got the money can come in, even though im sure a lot of country clubs and such are invitations only.

Hi I know you mentioned you being aroace just a couple days ago and I was wondering if maybe you could explain more in depth about how you found out your sexuality and what not? If it’s not too personal…
I’ve always sorta struggled since I haven’t had any crushes as a kid except for maybe one and that’s just cause ppl kept asking me who mine was… so I don’t even think it was a legit crush?? So not only do I not know who (looks, gender, that sorta thing) I would like … am I ever gonna like someone to even find that out???
I know you said Superman on the new trailer was hot ahaha so do you still experience that sort of physical attraction? I’ve been told when people question which gender they like, to pick which one looks more attractive to them but I’ve never really experienced that sort of physical attraction so I can’t tell that way either…
I think any thought of a crush forming was more towards their personality as well. Looks I guess are more of a second thought I think..? Even then I can’t tell if this is “you’re such an awesome person I wanna be besties with you” really strong feeling or an actual “I wanna date this person” feeling.
The only person I’ve gotten really close to discerning it as officially crush was someone from work who was older by a good amount… which can be/is pretty weird.. Lots of people my age are just a little too crazy for me.. I guess??? Idk and even now I can’t tell if that was just “glad to have someone as a friend sorta thing. I’m really sorry if this is too personal and u don’t have to respond to the ask directly either I was just hoping on maybe some advice for some clarity if possible… as I get older and realize I’ve never dated/had that sorta infatuation it feels so excluding at times.
Also I am hoping for a feast AND desert with this “‘soon’ but still haven’t posted it two days later” chapter plz and thank you
I hope this made sense and wasn’t too invasive!! :(
when i was younger, i was reading about this kind of thing online and i didn't find anyone like me. i think it's about time that i come full circle and make my own post. i've got like half of my frontal lobe developed and i've been figuring out a lot of things about myself these past couple of years, and there might be someone out there who needs to hear this (´-`ʃ♡ƪ) so if anyone is interested, below the cut is a very long talk about how i figured some stuff out
when it came to my sexuality, i only started considering it when i was in middle school, going into high school. (which would be when i was 12-13). that's when a lot of my friends started having crushes on our classmates and i realized they were being serious when they said they had crushes on people. they had figured out their identities as being a lesbian or bisexual, and they had relationships. (or as close as you can get to that in middle school).
i started to panic and think that i was lagging behind. and i really started to repress my feelings about dating people and romance and what that would entail. i found out through the internet about being pansexual. at the time i thought "oh, they have the same attraction for everyone!" and i slapped it on myself because i thought it would fix everything. i even came out to my parents as pansexual and for a while i left it at that.
i had an idea of romance. i shipped characters in media and i knew that my parents really loved each other. there were a lot of examples for love in my life that weren't the best, but having two parents that actually did care about each other made me want that for myself in the future...
but that's in the future. i personally didn't think about it much because we were still kids. for a while i didn't think anyone else was being serious, that they were just trying it out quicker than i was ready for. it was a strange feeling. i guess i still believed we were playing make believe, or copying what we saw on TV or with our parents. often when my friends asked me who i had a crush on and i felt pressured, i would pick someone that i thought i wouldn't mind dating if i had to. someone would be "interested" in me and i would say "okay" because i felt like that was part of this game we all seemed to be playing. i've had a few "boyfriends" over the years that got people off my back when i had them. in elementary school it was this boy that didn't pick on me, another boy that was my parents' friend's kid. in middle school i had an online boyfriend and a couple of "crushes" on friends of friends, someone just a little far out of my circle that didn't shake anything up. my friends would help me get together with a person and they'd seem so excited for me, so i just went along with it.
then it hit me that they weren't doing it just to do it, or playing pretend. they actually felt something when they were interacting with their crushes. i started to reread books and rewatch media and really grasp what they were saying. the feeling of having butterflies inside them when they talked to each other, blushing when something was said? i thought that was about a general anxiety people get when talking to other people. but there was always something more to it that i just... didn't get. no matter how hard i tried, i didn't understand what that something was.
then started coming the pressure to do the same, to fit in. that's why i accepted a label of pansexual. it was "strange" but at least it didn't feel "broken." i could deal with people telling me that i was wrong for liking more than just boys. but to say that there was no one on the table gave me an anxiety i'd never felt before. like i would be letting down my family, that the entire course of my life would shift. i wouldn't walk down the aisle because there would be no wedding. my parents wouldn't have grandkids. my friends would go on to have lives completely separate from mine, we'd have nothing in common anymore. so i stuffed it all down and made myself believe that this wasn't who i was.
it really mixed me up because i did have a couple of "crushes" that felt real. there were a few girls i was friends with, there were boys in my classes (usually class clowns...) that i'd get excited to see every day. when i thought about dating them, it felt nice. any other time when i thought about dating someone, i'd get this awful feeling in my gut that i later realized was dread. i was fully convinced it was different from all the other times. that "different" that i didn't understand before.
it was different! but not for the reason i thought it was. those people made me laugh, they listened and remembered things about me (that i didn't get much of during that time of my life), and most of all: they didn't like me back.
there were literally no expectations in their eyes for things to go away from friendship. and i think that's what made me like them, but not as a crush. it was relief. there was always an expectation for other people (specifically boys) that if we were friends, things would stray from friendship at some point. not with these people. that relief, combined with all the other good feelings they gave me (class clowns...) made it so much easier to fall into a friendship that i didn't have with other people. and i was in denial for so long that i thought of those friendships as crushes because they were different from other friendships.
there were a couple of times that i got close to having to face my sexuality and it felt like a gut punch. there were a couple of people i was friends with (that i didn't have crushes on) that i had previously thought "if i had to pick someone" about. but when they actually told me their feelings, i would run away. in one case, i literally ran away. i changed my entire routine so that i wouldn't have to face them. and i'm a creature of habit, so of course i took that step back and asked myself why i was having such a strong reaction. my friends didn't understand why i was so panicked about these confessions. especially because before, i "liked" people and had no problem with it.
part of my feelings were that no one would actually like me (which only furthered me not wanting/not considering romance). some of the confessions that i got were fake/pranks, and it would really mess with my head. i wasn't skinny, i knew i was strange and awkward, and i could be very brash and stubborn. i had a weird sense of humor and i missed social ques. i got a lot of "you should be a lawyer" and complaints of being bossy when i was growing up and i always knew they really meant "you're a bitch." i wouldn't understand why i felt so othered from my peers like that until i learned i was possibly autistic, and i only found that out a couple years ago. combined with being plus sized and not conventionally attractive, i didn't get much breathing room. if i wasn't perfectly calm all the time, if i didn't force myself to be overly nice to people, and if i wasn't funny, i'd get told i was "draining" to be around.
i did a lot to try and fit in. i kept my hair long because people would compliment it, i tried to wear skirts instead of pants/shorts, i'd wear comfy clothes and the like so i didn't look like i was trying too hard. a lot of my personality was forced and i was the one who was being drained instead. i ended up having to get a radar for when people were just messing with me. and so when a real confession happened, there was a combination of anxiety about if they were faking or not, doubt that they could actually like me, and then a deep rooted fear about if they were being serious.
instead of the relief i should have felt when i learned it was a real confession, i still felt scared. it would be the same anxiety as if someone asked me to get on the world's tallest roller coaster in the world and i had just seen a chunk of the roller coaster fall in front of me.
that part made it even harder to come to grips with my sexuality. i thought if i gave up on being a hopeless romantic, i'd be giving in to all the times someone told me "I just don't see you dating anyone." being unlovable was a death sentence in my eyes. and it didn't help that i've lived in the south all my life. i was already strange and going to hell for a multitude of things. turning around and telling them that i was going against every expectation set of me to get married and have kids by 24????
(i should clarify that my parents had never been the ones to put this in my mind. when i came out as pansexual, they had only been confused about what the hell that was. the rest of their reaction was "i mean... we could already sort of tell." and while my parents had hopes for my future, i knew deep down that while they'd be a little sad not to have those expected memories with me, they wouldn't turn me away. and they would very likely be happy to create a whole different set of memories with me.)
i have my current friends to thank for me coming to terms with who i am. by the time i was in college i had started to question everything. my middle school friend group had been majority queer but we had gone to different schools or just faded apart. in high school, a majority of my time was spent in band. and while i was one of those people who had friends in a variety of friend groups, the closest friends i had were the people in my section that i sat next to every day. and in the present time, only a couple of them remained straight churchgoers. even though they've changed now just like i have, during high school i was a different story.
going to college opened me up to a far different experience. by this point i'd shifted from pansexual to bisexual. my college experience wasn't... ideal. or really healthy in any aspect. but meeting these people did dislodge the mindset i'd had for most of my life. and my current friends have changed my life. the fear that i had about being aromantic has now become the relief i needed my entire life. it doesn't feel broken, or wrong, or strange. sometimes i do feel sad about it, or question if this is really the case. maybe one day i'll meet someone who shows me that "different" feeling i'd been waiting to understand. but i grew past the societal expectation of needing a partner to be fulfilled in life and i'm so much happier.
life doesn't need to be about that partner. i have many, many friends and family to grow old with. i have a godchild!! one day i'll have my own house to celebrate holidays and achievements at, to host my friends and family. i'll have pets that i love and i'll have my own career, and i'll be happy because i never needed to fit expectations to be happy.
when it comes to anything sexual, it's sort of the same feeling as when i had "crushes" on people in real life. though also different? i don't look at real people and feel an attraction beyond knowing that they are attractive, objectively. i can feel attraction sometimes in a physical sense, but i have no interest in having anything personal happening between us. a fictional character has no interest in me, and so it feels safe to think that they're hot and to express it. like sure, yeah, i have a crush on them! i get giggly when Captain Smoker from One Piece shows up on the screen, and the new Superman makes me think "oh! okay!" but if they were real and in front of me? i'd probably... lose that attraction, like it was never there.
here's the kicker, though, and might sound weird at first: you don't have to put a label on yourself
yeah, i do consider myself aroace. but the world is ever changing and so is the human experience. it helps to have a basis, to understand your feelings and work through them. it's nice to be like "there is a name for this" and to find a community through that. i'm not saying there's anything wrong about figuring out your identity and saying "I'm this, this, and this!" nothing at all wrong with that. but we're all figuring ourselves out, all the time. it doesn't end when you put the label on. you have the entire rest of your life to continue learning things about yourself and the world around you. i wish i'd known in middle school that i didn't have to rush it, that i have every opportunity to take it one phase at a time. a human life seems fleeting, especially when you're looking back on your past and feeling like the time flew by. but that's just our perception of it as we look back.
what i mean to say it that it's okay to backtrack. it's okay to change your mind. it's okay to not put a label on it. it's okay to put a label on it. it's okay not to tell anyone, if you don't want to. it's okay to say "i'll figure it out." and it's okay if you don't. it's okay if you sit up in bed one day when you're 60 years old and go "that's what it is." as long as you live your life listening to yourself and not trying to meet an expectation you think you have to, then you're doing it right.
and it's okay if you lived your life like i did, and you didn't do any of that. being a human is messy and that's part of life. you're not gonna get it right the first time- but even then, sometimes you will! there's a nuance and a spectrum to everything you experience. take pride in who you are even if you don't have a clue yet. be kind to yourself. you're gonna be okay.
#this is pretty long#but there really might be someone who needs to hear this#learned that from my band director#he used to go on and on and tell us life lessons and his own experiences#and he used to apologize and say “but someone might have needed that”#and he was right#didn't mention it above but there were a couple times where my family was homeless#and one time he said something in class and it changed everything for me#he was right#someone might need it#this ask was a while ago but i had to get my thoughts together coherently#so anon know that you're not alone#and that what you've experienced is very common#aromantic#asexual#aroace#acespec#arospec#aromantism#queer#lgtbqia+#figuring out identities#my long winded life story

Cafe Owner ˚
! synopsis: you specifically order two matcha lattes every morning for your boss. however, one day, the cute café owner's kind gesture breaks your repetitive schedule and begins a new chapter with him.
! word count: 722
=======================
you hurriedly got in line, relieved to see the short line in front of you.
"next in line, please," a familiar face welcomed the customer: it was the café owner.
a week ago, the café opened on the first floor of your company. in contrast to the past cafe's unpopularity, employees rushed to get a cup of coffee and especially a look at the café owner's face. his charismatic smile could only attract more customers, warming the café, with his built figure defining more clearly as he poured the drinks.
despite also finding the café owner cute, your daily mission was to get back to your desk with two iced matcha lattes in your hand; one for you and your boss.
you looked down at your watch to check the time: 8:30. you had exactly 30 minutes before making your boss cranky- which was the absolute worst.
"i can help the next person," the owner's eyes lit up as he called for you next.
you walked up to the register, being welcomed to a smell of warm coffee from him.
"hi, how are you?" he greeted you with a charming smile.
"i'm doing well, how are you?" you asked back.
"i'm doing well too," his direct yet gentle eyes made you freeze as he looked down at the screen to input your order.
"would you like your regular today?" he asked, wanting to confirm despite it being your daily order. you stayed silent, your eyes not wanting to track off his face.
"two matcha lattes?" he looked up from the screen after your silence.
"um, yes please," you embarrassingly smiled. you looked away, wondering if he just saw you as the girl who only ordered matcha.
"and order for y/n..." he muttered as he plugged your order and name into the system. hearing him mutter your name, you couldn't help but look at his name tag: jay, you quietly said under your breath.
"yes?" he said, looking puzzled.
"oh, no. sorry," you awkwardly laughed. embarrassed he heard you. "you have my name memorized but i think it's the first time i've ever seen your name tag," you said.
"no, i understand. i see you're always in a rush, and i couldn't miss a regular customer" jay laughed. "and you know what, i'll have your drink covered today."
"what, are you sure? i use the company card anyways,” you looked puzzled at his kind gesture.
"yeah, i'm sure. it's on me." jay assured you.
"okay, thank you," you thanked him.
although it was nice of him to pay for your drink, you were curious to whether or not this occurred to other regulars. is he interested in me or am i reading the signals wrong? you thought to yourself.
anticipating to be discouraged with his answer, you shyly asked, “do you usually do this for other regulars as well?”
he laughed at your question, finding it silly. “not at all.” a small smile appeared on your face, making you feel special, even if it wasn’t true.
"your drink will be out soon," he said. you nodded and left to wait at a table.
within minutes, he came with a tray with your two drinks and a small packaged cookie. "here's your order!" he placed the tray down carefully. "the cookie is for you so don't forget to eat it."
"thank you. i needed this." you said, appreciating his thoughtful gesture.
happy with your response, jay gave you a genuine smile and left to go back to work. as he left, the corner of lips raised as you curled your lips in. unable to hide your smile, you grabbed the cookie and saw the note attached to it.
"i see you come to the cafe every morning and i think you're really cute. i want to get to know you better! i was wondering if i take you out on a date today after work if you have time. :)"
you looked up from the note to look at him working behind the counter. he noticed you looking at him and raised 7 fingers, mouthing the words, "is 7 pm okay?"
you nodded, happily agreeing to the date. you looked down at the note one more time, anticipating that maybe, you weren't going to find ordering two matcha lattes as a chore anymore.

Storrs, Connecticut 2021
It started a few weeks after Azzi and Paige made their “agreement”. That’s what Azzi called it in her head—a way to convince herself it was something mutual, something they both wanted. In reality, it was her idea. She was the one who said, “We can’t keep doing this,” and Paige had gone along with it, like she always did.
Azzi thought it would be better this way, safer. If they stayed just friends, they couldn’t hurt each other. But watching Paige move on, watching her live out this version of their lives that Azzi thought she wanted—God, it was killing her.
The first time Paige mentioned Leana, Azzi didn’t think much of it. Paige always had a way of making friends quickly, effortlessly. But then Leana started showing up, a lot. At the end of practice. At team dinners. At their apartment.
Paige introduced her to the team a few days after their conversation, her arm slung around Leana’s shoulders like it was nothing. Like it wasn’t the same way she used to hold Azzi. And Leana? She was perfect. Nice. Pretty. Confident in a way that made Azzi’s stomach churn with jealousy? No, Azzi never really got jealous when Paige would be with other girls. Especially because they would only last a day or a few hours, but Leana would not stop showing up.
So, it was definitely not jealousy. Hatred.
Azzi hated her. She hated how she laughed at Paige’s jokes, how she touched Paige’s arm all the time like it was it was gonna grow legs and run away if she didn’t, how Paige seemed to shine a little brighter whenever Leana was around.
She hated how much she wanted Leana to be awful. Selfish. Mean. Anything that would give Paige a reason to leave her, to come back to Azzi. So Azzi could hold her and comfort her, the way she always used to. But that wasn’t going to happen. Leana wasn’t a bad person, and Paige didn’t need Azzi anymore.
Fuck. What did I do?
Azzi tried to convince herself she was fine. That she didn’t care. That this was what she wanted. Right?
But then, tonight, she saw them in the dining hall. Paige was leaning against the table, laughing at something Leana had said, her head tilted back, blonde waves brushing her back. She looked happy. Free.
And then Paige’s hand went to the small of Leana’s back.
Azzi froze.
Her breath caught in her chest, her heart pounding in her ears. That was her spot. Paige used to do that to her all the time—those small, familiar touches that felt like secrets only they shared. And now Paige was doing it to someone else.
She would never do that to Azzi again.
The realization hit her like a punch to the gut, and for a moment, she thought she might be sick. She thought her heart had already broken, but somehow, it found a new way to break.
Because even though Azzi was the one who asked for this—even though she was the one who insisted they be just friends—watching Paige with someone else made her realize just how wrong she’d been.
She turned away before they could see her, her fists clenched at her sides as she hurried out of the dining hall. Her vision blurred, hot tears slipping down her cheeks before she could stop them.
This was what she wanted.
This was what she’d asked for.
So why did it feel like this?
Azzi wiped at her face, angry at herself for crying. She couldn’t help but think about the agreement again, how it all started.
She could still see Paige’s expression that night, the way her brows furrowed, her lips pulling into a small frown as she listened to Azzi stumble through her words.
few weeks earlier..
Paige sat down beside her, resting her elbows on her knees. “We need to talk.”
Azzi’s shoulders tensed, but she closed her laptop and turned to face Paige. “About what?”
“About why you’ve been avoiding me,” Paige said bluntly.
Azzi’s lips parted, but she hesitated. “I haven’t been avoiding you.”
“Az,” Paige said softly, giving her a pointed look.
Azzi sighed, leaning back against the couch. “I just… I needed space. To figure things out.”
“Figure what out?” Paige asked, her voice steady but laced with concern.
Azzi stared at her hands, fidgeting with the hem of her sweatshirt. “Paige, I can’t keep doing this. We said we’d be friends, and then I end up in your room, in your bed… It’s confusing.”
Paige leaned closer, her brows furrowed. “You just wanted to sleep and it’s not confusing to me. I know how I feel about you, Az.”
Azzi shook her head quickly, cutting her off. “That’s the problem. I don’t think I know how to stop letting this happen. And I don’t trust myself not to hurt you or get hurt again.”
Paige’s jaw tightened, her voice dropping. “So, what? You’re scared, so you’re just gonna shut me out? We’ve been through too much for that.”
“I’m not shutting you out,” Azzi said, her voice rising slightly. “I’m trying to protect us. You and me. If we keep crossing these lines, it’s only gonna end the same way it did before.”
Paige exhaled sharply, dragging a hand down her face. “You’re making this harder than it has to be. I get it, Az. I do. But I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I don’t want more.”
Azzi’s eyes softened, but she looked away. “And what happens when it gets messy again, Paige? What happens when we mess this up? I can’t lose you completely.”
Paige’s voice was quiet but firm. “You’re not gonna lose me.”
Azzi didn’t respond, her silence weighing heavy in the room.
Paige hesitated before speaking again. “So, what does this mean? Do I still get my goodnight kiss, or is that part of the deal over too?”
Azzi’s eyes shot to Paige, her cheeks flushing. “Paige…”
“What?” Paige said, trying to keep her tone light despite the tension. “I’m just asking.”
Azzi sighed, her lips curving into a reluctant smile. “Yes, you still get your goodnight kiss. But just… don’t make it a thing, okay?”
Paige grinned. “No promises.”
Azzi rolled her eyes, but her smile lingered as she stood up. “I’m going to bed.”
“Hold up,” Paige said, standing too. She leaned down slightly, her voice soft. “Goodnight, Az.”
Azzi hesitated, then stepped closer, pressing a quick kiss to both of Paige’s cheeks. “Goodnight, Paige.”
As she walked away, Paige watched her go, her heart heavy but hopeful. This wasn’t what she wanted, not entirely. But it was something. And for now, that was enough.
present day
Azzi knew she was fucked the moment she made the decision. She knew she was fucked when Paige agreed. She knew she was fucked when she realized Paige could talk to, kiss, and hold any girl she wanted now.
Because they were just friends.
And Azzi was completely, utterly fucked.
—
The past weeks have been hell. It was like she was going through the stages of “grief” or whatever. That’s how Azzi thought of it, at least. How else could she explain the sinking pit in her chest every time Paige and Leana walked into a room together? Or the way her throat tightened when she saw Paige’s hand on Leana’s ass or her arm thrown over Leana’s shoulder, her smile too wide, her laugh too loud? Seems fake to me. She thought.
The team noticed it, of course. How could they not?
Azzi’s energy had shifted. She was way quieter, more withdrawn during practice. When Leana was around, her answers became clipped, her eyes glued to the floor like she couldn’t bear to look at anyone. It didn’t help that Leana fit in so well. The team adored her.
KK had asked her once, “Az, you good?” when they were running laps.
“I’m fine,” she’d lied, her voice sharp enough to end the conversation. But KK’s look lingered, filled with concern Azzi refused to acknowledge.
She wasn’t fine. Not even close.
First stage: Denial
Azzi told herself this was temporary. It had to be.
Paige didn’t really like Leana, not like that. It was just something new, something casual to pass the time. Paige didn’t do relationships, not seriously, and this one wouldn’t last either.
Azzi clung to that thought like a lifeline.
But then Paige started bringing Leana to team dinners. She started showing up with her at practice, standing too close, laughing too hard. And when Azzi saw them together, her chest tightened like someone was physically squeezing the air out of her lungs.
One night, she sat on the couch in Caroline’s apartment, her hands gripping a throw pillow as if she could crush the ache out of her chest.
“I keep telling myself it’s nothing,” she admitted, her voice trembling. “That she’ll get bored and come back. But what if she doesn’t, Carol? What if—” Her voice cracked, and the words wouldn’t come.
Caroline pulled her into a hug, her voice soft and steady. “I’m sorry, Az. I know this sucks. But you can’t keep doing this to yourself.”
Azzi didn’t reply. Because what was she supposed to say? That she didn’t know how to stop?
Second stage: Anger
The denial didn’t last. It couldn’t—not when Paige started bringing Leana to their apartment.
Azzi walked in one day after practice to find Leana sitting on the couch, Paige sprawled next to her, both of them laughing at something on Leana’s phone. Paige looked up, her face lighting up when she saw Azzi.
“Oh hey, Az. You hungry? We’re ordering sushi.”
We. Azzi hated the word.
She dropped her bag by the door, her jaw tight as she muttered, “I’m good,” before disappearing into her room.
That night, she slammed her bedroom door harder than necessary, her chest heaving with an anger she couldn’t contain.
Paige was supposed to be hers. She didn’t care how selfish it sounded—she didn’t want to share Paige with anyone else. Especially not Leana.
Third stage: Bargaining
Azzi started picking apart every moment she’d shared with Paige, searching for something she could’ve done differently.
Maybe if she hadn’t been so stubborn about staying “just friends.” Maybe if she’d let herself fall the way she wanted to—completely, unapologetically. Maybe Paige would’ve stayed.
She confided in Caroline again one night, her voice barely above a whisper as she lay curled up on the couch.
“What if I just tell her?” she asked, her hands twisting the hem of her hoodie. “What if I tell her I messed up, that I want her back?”
Caroline gave her a look that was equal parts sympathy and concern. “Az, you’re the one who pushed her away. Do you think telling her now is going to change anything? She’s with Leana.”
Azzi’s stomach sank at the words, but she couldn’t let go of the thought. What if Paige still loved her? What if there was a chance, no matter how small?
When Caroline finally left, Azzi retreated to her bedroom, unable to escape the weight of her emotions. Her eyes landed on the photo frame on her nightstand—the picture of her and Paige after their U16 gold medal win. Paige’s smile in the photo was the kind that made Azzi’s chest ache, bright and unguarded, as if she’d never known heartbreak.
It had become a nightly ritual, one that Azzi couldn’t bring herself to stop. She picked up the frame, her fingers trembling as she brushed over the glass. “I’m sorry, P,” she whispered, her voice cracking. “I shouldn’t have pushed you away.”
She pressed her lips to the corner of Paige’s smile in the photo, just like she used to do before bed. It was their tradition—their goodnight kiss. Only now, it was one-sided. A ghost of a memory that haunted her.
“Goodnight,” she murmured, her lips still resting against the glass. “Sweet dreams, P.”
Azzi set the frame back down and collapsed onto her bed, clutching the pillow to her chest. Maybe if I hadn’t been scared. Maybe if I just told her now…
Her mind raced with impossible scenarios, rewinding and replaying their history, searching for the moment she could fix, the word she could take back, the step she could retrace.
But in the end, she was left clutching nothing but a pillow and a memory, her tears soaking into the fabric.
Fourth stage: Depression
The hope didn’t last.
It was gone the night Azzi walked into the gym to find Paige and Leana standing by the bleachers. Paige’s hand was on Leana’s waist, positioning her towards the basket, Azzi felt her heart crack open all over again.
She barely made it through practice, her movements sluggish, her mind a blur. By the time she got home, she was shaking, tears streaming down her face as she stumbled into her bedroom.
Caroline found her an hour later, curled up on the floor, her chest heaving with silent sobs.
“I can’t do this,” Azzi whispered, her voice broken. “I can’t—she’s everywhere, Care. And I can’t—” She gasped for air, her words dissolving into another sob.
Caroline sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “Az, you don’t have to go through this alone. I’m here, okay? Whatever you need.”
Azzi nodded, but the ache in her chest didn’t fade.
She thought about their first kiss. On the dock, at the lake house of Azzi’s grandparents, the way Paige’s lips had been so soft, so sure.
Would Paige still think about it?
Would she remember the way they’d laughed afterward, giddy and breathless, as if the world had suddenly cracked open and spilled all its light into their lives?
Azzi closed her eyes, tears slipping down her cheeks.
Will I still cross your mind in a year, Paige? she wondered, her heart aching. Will you miss us, even for a second?
Because Azzi did. She missed Paige every day, every second of every day. She missed the way they fit together, like two halves of a whole, and the way Paige used to make her feel seen, like she was the only person in the world who mattered.
I miss you, she thought, her chest heaving with the weight of it. I miss us.
But Paige was with Leana now, and Azzi was just a ghost in her life—a shadow of what they used to be.
And no matter how much she wanted to believe otherwise, she couldn’t shake the feeling that Paige had already moved on.
Stage 5: Acceptance? No. The lack of Acceptance
No matter how hard she tried, Azzi couldn’t let go.
She couldn’t stop thinking about the way Paige used to look at her, like she was the only person in the room. She couldn’t stop replaying their last kiss in her mind—the warmth of Paige’s lips, the way she’d whispered, “Just friends,” like it was a promise they could keep.
But they couldn’t.
And Azzi couldn’t accept it. She couldn’t accept that Paige was gone, that she’d moved on, that the life they’d imagined together was slipping further out of reach with every passing day.
She wanted to scream, to cry, to do anything that might ease the crushing weight on her chest. But all she could do was sit in her room, staring at the wall, as the realization settled in:
She wasn’t grieving Paige. She was grieving herself—the part of her that had believed in them, the part of her that had loved Paige so fiercely it burned.
And now, all she had left were the ashes.
—
Paige didn’t like Leana.
Well, that wasn’t entirely true. She liked her well enough to talk to her, to hang out with her when the apartment felt too quiet, too empty, too suffocating without Azzi. But when it came to everything else—when it came to the little things—Paige didn’t like her at all.
She didn’t like that Leana couldn’t cook. It wasn’t like Azzi was an all-star chef or anything—Azzi could barely cook either—but it was different. It was Azzi. At least Azzi could make scrambled eggs. And those nasty green smoothies she used to force Paige to drink after workouts? Yeah, Paige hated them, but she never really hated them because they were from Azzi.
Leana couldn’t even make toast without burning it.
Paige didn’t like how Leana was so touchy-feely all the time. It was suffocating. She hated how Leana’s hands always found her waist or her shoulders, how her arms would wrap around Paige’s neck, clinging like a vine. Paige was supposed to be the clingy one. She was the one who used to jump into Azzi’s arms after practice, planting kisses all over her face or pulling her into hugs just because she felt like it.
And Azzi? She didn’t need to be all over Paige all the time. Sometimes, Azzi would just sit next to her, quiet and comfortable, letting Paige know she was there without saying a word. Paige loved that. She loved being in Azzi’s presence. It was Azzi, after all. Who wouldn’t want to just exist beside her?
But with Leana? God, sometimes Paige wanted to yell, “Can you just get the fuck away from me already?”
Leana’s hair? Always slick, stick-straight, and perfect. Paige hated it. She missed Azzi’s hair—how she’d wear it in curls or braids, switching it up depending on her mood. Paige loved running her hands through Azzi’s curls, loved how soft they felt and how they smelled like flowers.
Leana always smelled like strawberries. Safe to say Paige never had an appetite for them anymore.
She didn’t like the way Leana chewed her food, loud and careless, or the way she slurped her drinks like she grew up with no one teaching her manners. Azzi chewed her food so pretty—if chewing could even be called pretty—with that bright, wide smile she always had when Paige surprised her with ice cream sundaes every Friday night.
Leana always wanted to eat out, and not even at good places. She was obsessed with Jimmy John’s. Paige was too, but only when she went with Azzi every other week after games. Paige couldn’t stand it. She missed how Azzi would insist they eat at home, complaining about how Paige didn’t eat healthy enough.
And God, Paige hated the way Leana fucked. She hated the way her tongue moved on her breasts, her stomach, and just her body. The way her small, slender fingers never hit the right spot, the way her kisses felt too wet, too desperate, too wrong. Leana always tasted like candy, but Paige didn’t even like that anymore. She liked when Azzi tasted like candy.
Because it was Azzi.
Leana was all wrong—her touch, her smell, her laugh, her everything. Paige didn’t like anything about her, not really. And the more she tried to forget Azzi with Leana, the more it became painfully clear.
She didn’t want Leana. She never did.
She wanted Azzi.
But Azzi didn’t want her, not like that. Not anymore. And Paige couldn’t admit it out loud, but she knew the truth.
She was in a tangled mess she doesn’t think she can cut herself out of.
The worst part was Paige only really showed Leana affection when other people were around—when the team was watching, or worse, when Paige knew Azzi was somewhere nearby. It was all for show. A charade. She wanted to convince everyone, herself included, that she was fine. That she didn’t think about Azzi day and night. That she didn’t spend every waking moment wishing things were different.
She faked a laugh at Leana’s terrible jokes, forcing herself to look interested, to act like she wasn’t distracted by the mere thought of Azzi. But she was. She always was.
Every time Leana touched her, Paige’s mind wandered to Azzi’s touch instead. Every time Leana spoke, Paige thought about Azzi’s voice, the way it softened whenever she called Paige’s name. Every time Leana kissed her, Paige found herself comparing it to Azzi’s kisses—how they tasted sweeter, felt deeper, left her breathless in ways Leana never could.
It didn’t matter how much Paige pretended. She wasn’t fooling anyone. Certainly not Azzi. Certainly not herself.
She was a fucked fool.
Present day (au)
The night was colder than Paige expected. The sharp winter air bit at her cheeks as she adjusted the duffel bag slung over her shoulder, glancing over at Azzi walking beside her. Her girlfriend’s hands were stuffed deep into her coat pockets, her brow furrowed in curiosity.
“You really aren’t gonna tell me where we’re going?” Azzi asked, her voice soft but laced with amusement.
Paige smirked, shaking her head. “Nope. You gotta trust me, princess.”
Azzi rolled her eyes, though the nickname softened her expression. “Last time you said that, we ended up at that hole-in-the-wall pizza spot where you made me eat that ‘experimental’ pineapple jalapeño pizza.”
Paige held her hand to her chest, feigning offense. “Okay, first of all, that pizza was fire, and you know it.”
Azzi gave her a side-eye, her lips twitching upward despite herself. “It made me throw up on your shoes but okay! Just hurry it’s cold.”
Paige rolled her eyes and grinned, nodding toward the gym as it came into view. Its towering doors stood shut, the building silent under the faint glow of campus lights.
Azzi frowned, glancing between Paige and the gym. “Uh, you do know the gym is closed, right?”
Paige pulled a key from her pocket, holding it up with a mischievous grin. “Not for me, it’s not. Perks of being a super senior and coach’s favorite.”
Azzi followed her inside, the smell of the gym familiar but the sight in front of her unexpected. The center court lights glowed softly, illuminating a small setup Paige had prepared: a picnic blanket, a thermos of hot cocoa, a container of chocolate-covered strawberries, and a jar of Nutella sitting neatly on top.
Azzi’s jaw dropped slightly. “Wait—is that Nutella and strawberries? Wow Paige, you really thought this through.”
Paige shrugged, trying to play it cool but clearly pleased with herself. “You’re the one who put me onto it. Said they’re ‘life-changing’ or whatever. Figured I’d return the favor.”
Azzi laughed, kneeling down on the blanket and picking up the jar of Nutella. “I didn’t just say they’re life-changing. I said they’re essential. There’s a difference.”
Paige chuckled, setting her duffel bag near the bleachers before grabbing a basketball. “Yeah, yeah. Now let’s see if you still got that jumper.”
For the next hour, they played like they were kids again—shooting around, teasing each other, laughing until their stomachs hurt. Paige couldn’t help but steal glances at Azzi, marveling at how at ease she looked, her usual focus replaced with unfiltered joy.
When they finally settled back on the blanket, Azzi leaned into Paige’s side, her head resting on her shoulder. She dipped a strawberry into the Nutella and popped it into her mouth, sighing contentedly.
“This is perfect,” Azzi said softly.
Paige smiled, her fingers tracing small circles on Azzi’s thigh. “Yeah. I figured we could use something like this. It’s been…a lot lately.”
Azzi tilted her head to look up at Paige, her brow creasing slightly. “What do you mean? You’ve been killing it this year, P.”
Paige hesitated, her fingers stilling. “Yeah, but…it’s weird, you know? Knowing this is my last year here. I’m really gonna miss this place.”
Azzi’s smile faltered, and she sat up a little straighter. “You don’t have to think about that yet, though.”
Paige raised an eyebrow, her lips quirking. “What about you? You’ve been quiet about what you’re gonna do. Are you staying another year or declaring?”
Azzi blinked, caught off guard. “I—” She stopped, her gaze dropping to the blanket. “I haven’t decided yet.”“I don’t know. It’s a big decision, and I don’t want to rush it. But…sometimes I think staying wouldn’t be so bad.”
Paige reached out, gently turning Azzi’s face toward her. “Hey,” she said softly. “We’ll figure it out, no matter what. You staying or going doesn’t change us, Az.”
Azzi’s throat bobbed as she swallowed, her eyes shining with uncertainty. “It’s just…a lot to think about.”
Paige’s expression softened, and she leaned in to press a kiss to Azzi’s temple. “I get it. Take your time. You don’t have to decide tonight.”
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the gym’s stillness wrapping around them like a blanket. Finally, Paige broke the quiet, a playful grin tugging at her lips.
“So,” she said, glancing down at Azzi. “Am I still get my goodnight kiss tonight, or what?”
Azzi laughed, rolling her eyes. “You’re ridiculous, you ask this everytime” she teased, but her cheeks flushed pink.
Paige tilted her head, her grin widening. “That’s not a no.”
Azzi sighed dramatically, leaning forward to press a soft, lingering kiss to Paige’s lips. When she pulled back, Paige was grinning like she’d won a championship.
“See?” Paige said, leaning back against the blanket. “This is why I’m gonna miss UConn. Nobody does goodnight kisses like you.”
Azzi laughed, shaking her head. “You’re lucky you’re cute, because you’re so corny.”
Paige chuckled, pulling Azzi closer. For the first time in a while, she let herself just be present—with Azzi, with this moment, with this version of her senior year.
—
The gym was almost empty now, the faint echo of their laughter still hanging in the air. Paige knelt beside her duffel bag, tossing in her shoes and a few loose pieces of tape she’d peeled off her wrists. Azzi was a few feet away, waiting patiently for paige to finish.
The night had been everything Paige hoped for—light, easy, and full of the kind of love that made her forget, even for a moment, about everything weighing her down.
Azzi turned to Paige, her brown eyes sparkling even under the harsh fluorescent lights. “You okay?” she asked, tilting her head.
Paige zipped up her bag and stood, throwing it over her shoulder. “Yeah, I’m good,” she said with a small smile.
Azzi didn’t look convinced, but she didn’t push. Instead, she nodded toward the doors. “Come on, let’s get home, KK is blowing up my phone.”
They walked side by side, their footsteps echoing off the walls as they made their way to the exit. Paige glanced over at Azzi, watching the way her ponytail swayed with each step, the way she hummed softly under her breath. She was so beautiful, so effortlessly radiant, and Paige felt her chest tighten at the thought of everything she was keeping from her.
As they stepped outside, the cold air hit them immediately, their breath visible in the chilly night. Paige unlocked the car with a press of a button, and Azzi walked ahead, tossing her bag into the backseat before climbing in. Paige lingered for a moment, staring up at the stars as if they might hold the answers she was looking for.
“Paige?” Azzi called softly from inside the car.
Paige snapped out of her thoughts and climbed in, shutting the door behind her. The heater kicked on as she started the engine, and for a moment, they just sat there, the quiet hum of the car filling the space between them.
Paige had one hand on the wheel, the other resting casually on her thigh. Azzi sat in the passenger seat, her head turned slightly toward Paige as if she was studying her. The hum of the engine and the faint sound of the radio filled the space between them, but Paige’s thoughts were so loud they might as well have been screaming.
She’d done her best to stay in the moment tonight—to soak in Azzi’s laugh, her smile, the way her nose scrunched whenever Paige teased her. But as they neared campus, the weight in Paige’s chest grew heavier.
It wasn’t just about what she’d gotten a second chance at; it was what she’d lost the first time around.
Azzi broke the silence first. “Hey, you wanna just crash in my room tonight?” Her voice was soft, almost hypnotizing.
Paige glanced at her briefly before returning her eyes to the road. “Yeah,” she said, her voice just as quiet. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
Azzi smiled, reaching out to give Paige’s arm a squeeze before settling back into her seat.
For the rest of the drive, Paige’s thoughts spiraled.
What if she could fix things?
The question had been haunting her since the moment she woke up in this second chance of a life. She could do so much—change so much—but every action had consequences. Good ones, bad ones. Ones she couldn’t even begin to predict.
Her grip on the steering wheel tightened.
And then there was the truth. The one thing she knew she could never fix, never change. The one thing that had already shattered Azzi once before.
Paige swallowed hard, her jaw clenching. She couldn’t think about that now. Not tonight. She needed to focus on the present—on Azzi, on the way her voice softened whenever she said Paige’s name, on the way her fingers always found Paige’s whenever they were walking side by side. Just focus on Azzi, just focus on pretending.
But was she really pretending? No. No, she wasn’t.
Paige knew she loved Azzi. Everyone did. She loved her so much it felt like it was tearing her apart from the inside out. She loved her enough to want to protect her, even if it meant keeping this secret. She loved her enough to die for her.
But loving her didn’t make what she was doing any less wrong.
By the time they reached Azzi’s dorm, Paige felt like she could barely breathe. Azzi didn’t seem to notice; she was already climbing out of the car, waiting for Paige to grab her things before leading the way inside.
When they reached Azzi’s room, Paige hesitated in the doorway, her duffel bag slung over her shoulder. Azzi turned to her, frowning slightly.
“You good?” she asked.
Paige forced a smile and nodded. “Yeah. Just tired, that’s all.”
Azzi’s frown deepened, but she didn’t press. Instead, she grabbed Paige’s hand and pulled her inside.
They moved through their usual routine with ease—Azzi handing Paige a pair of sweats, Paige tossing her hoodie onto the back of a chair, both of them brushing their teeth side by side in the small bathroom. But as they finally settled into Azzi’s bed, the silence between them felt heavier than before.
Paige lay on her back, staring up at the ceiling while Azzi curled up beside her, her head resting on Paige’s shoulder.
“You’ve been quiet,” Azzi murmured, her voice barely audible in the darkness.
Paige exhaled slowly, her fingers brushing through Azzi’s hair. “Just…thinking.”
“About what?”
Paige hesitated. She could feel the words bubbling up in her throat, threatening to spill out. But she couldn’t say them. Not now. Maybe not ever.
“Everything,” she said instead.
Azzi shifted, propping herself up on one elbow to look at Paige. “Hey,” she said softly, her fingers brushing against Paige’s cheek. “Whatever it is, you can talk to me. You know that, right?”
Paige closed her eyes, the weight in her chest almost unbearable. “I know,” she whispered.
Azzi’s thumb traced slow circles on Paige’s cheek. “You’re scaring me, P. What’s going on?”
Paige opened her eyes, her gaze locking with Azzi’s. And for a moment, she thought about telling her—about laying it all out there, no matter the consequences. But the thought of the look on Azzi’s face, the hurt in her eyes, stopped her cold.
“I’m just…I’m scared too,” Paige admitted, her voice trembling.
Azzi frowned, leaning closer. “Scared of what?”
Paige swallowed hard, her fingers tightening in Azzi’s hair. “Of losing this. Of messing it all up again.”
Azzi’s expression softened, and she leaned down to press a gentle kiss to Paige’s forehead. “You’re not gonna lose me, Paige. Not now, not ever.”
Paige closed her eyes, a single tear slipping down her cheek. “I hope you’re right,” she whispered. Oh, hope, hope was a beautiful thing.
Azzi pulled her closer, wrapping her arms around Paige as if she could hold her together. Paige buried her face in Azzi’s neck, her heart pounding in her chest.
She wanted to believe her. God, she wanted to believe her.
But deep down, she knew that as long as she kept this secret, the clock was ticking.
And she was terrified of what would happen when it finally ran out.

roommates (matthew sturniolo)
the final.
It had been four years since that chaotic, heartbreaking day. Four years since Charlie and I had stormed out of the dorms, and left behind Matt, Chris, and Nick and that entire chapter of our lives.
In the years that followed, the little fame we had garnered from appearing in the triplets’ videos became a stepping stone for something much bigger. Charlie and I threw ourselves into creating content, documenting everything from our college experiences to our spontaneous adventures, and even sharing vulnerable moments about personal growth and moving on.
The hard work paid off. Our YouTube channel blew up, amassing millions of subscribers. On TikTok, we were even bigger, By the time we graduated college three months ago, we had become well-known influencers in our own right, working with major brands and having multiple other influencers collabing with us.
But through all of that, there had been one rule we both followed without question: we didn’t speak about the triplets. Ever.
At first, fans flooded our comments asking about them. There were edits of Matt and me, of Charlie and Chris. Some even romanticized our fallout. But over time, the questions faded as our own content overshadowed the past. For over a year, there hadn’t been a single mention of them on our platforms.
In those four years, I rebuilt myself. I learned to let go of the hurt, piece by piece. And now, I was happy. I even had a boyfriend, Leonard, who I’d been dating for eight months. He wasn’t flashy or overly romantic, but he was dependable, and kind. He grounded me in a way I didn’t think anyone could after Matt.
Today, Leonard had helped us load our bags into my car before kissing me goodbye. Charlie and I were heading to the airport, about to embark on a new chapter of our lives in Los Angeles. We’d been offered incredible opportunities to work with major brands, collaborate with influencers, and expand our content. We’d also decided to live together, finding comfort in the bond that had carried us through so much.
As The uber drove us to the airport, Charlie was buzzing with excitement, scrolling through Pinterest for decor ideas. “What do you think about a gallery wall in the living room?” she asked, turning the phone to show me.
I smiled, glancing at her briefly. “I love it. Just don’t let me handle the measurements this time. Remember the disaster with the string lights?”
She laughed, shaking her head. “I still can’t believe you used duct tape.”
We pulled into the airport parking lot, and for a moment, the reality of what we were doing hit me. This wasn’t just a trip. This was the start of something huge, a completely new life.
As we grabbed our bags and made our way to the terminal, Charlie grabbed my hand, squeezing it tightly. “Can you believe we’re doing this?”
I looked at her, my best friend who had been through everything with me, and nodded. “I can’t believe we made it here.”
Four years ago, I thought I’d lost everything. But now, as we boarded the plane to Los Angeles, I realized I hadn’t lost anything that truly mattered. Charlie and I had built something incredible out of the ashes, and this was just the beginning.
A week into our trip to LA, Charlie and I stood outside a beautiful two-story blue house on a quiet, tree-lined street. The kind of street where you could hear birds in the morning. It wasn’t overly fancy, but it had charm, and as soon as we saw it, we knew. This was the one.
The house had a wrap-around porch with white railing, The blue siding gleamed under the California sun, and there were flower boxes under the windows, some with blooming plants that added pops of color. It was perfect.
“I can already see it,” Charlie said, her eyes sparkling as she stood on the porch. “Us sitting out here, sipping coffee in the mornings. You editing videos, me thinking of video ideas… This is it.”
I smiled, looking up at the house, trying to picture what our lives would look like here. It was hard to believe how far we’d come. From two broken heart eighteen year old girls to traveling across the country to start fresh, this felt like the reward for every hard decision we’d made.
Inside, the house was just as inviting. Hardwood floors, big windows that let in so much light it felt like you were outside, and a kitchen with just enough character to feel homey without being outdated. There were two bedrooms upstairs—one for each of us—and a small extra room we immediately decided would be our “creative space.”
As the real estate agent handed us the paperwork to sign, Charlie nudged me with her elbow. “You sure about this?”
I nodded, a grin spreading across my face. “This is ours.”
By the time we walked out with the keys, the sun was setting, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. Charlie unlocked the door, pushing it open dramatically and yelling, “Welcome home, baby!”
We laughed, running inside like kids, already talking about where we’d put our furniture and how we’d decorate for Halloween.
That night, as we sat on the floor eating takeout in our empty living room, it hit me. This wasn’t just a house; it was a new beginning. A place for us to grow, dream, and finally let go of the pieces of the past we’d been holding onto.
“This is gonna be good,” Charlie said, raising her smirnoff bottle in a toast.
“To us,” I replied, clinking mine against hers.
As Charlie and I sat cross-legged on the living room floor, laughing over our plans for the house, a sudden knock at the door startled us. We both froze, exchanging wide-eyed glances.
“Who could it be?” Charlie whispered, her voice barely audible.
“Maybe the real estate agent forgot something?” I suggested, though my stomach churned with unease.
We stood up, the mood shifting instantly from lighthearted to tense. Slowly, I made my way to the door, Charlie right behind me. My hand hesitated on the knob for just a second before I turned it and pulled the door open.
My heart stopped.
Standing on the other side of the door, looking older but all too familiar, were Matt, Chris, and Nick.
Matt’s eyes met mine first, his expression dropped, Chris looked like he was trying to form words but couldn’t, and Nick mouth was hanging open.

hey lovee! idk if you’ve seen that tiktok trend where the sibling is like rude to their brother’s girlfriend to see their reaction!
Could you write something like that with marc bernal, if you don’t write about him maybe with pau cubarsi or pedri!🥰
Little Test~Marc Bernal
・❥・prompt list
・❥・masterlist -> part 2
・❥・who I write for
・❥・a/n: I really hope this one is the one you're talking about ❤
The Bernal household was buzzing with excitement on New Year's Eve. Marc had invited his girlfriend to his family's traditional New Year’s dinner, and she was nervous but also excited to meet his loved onesMarc had been constantly talking about how much his family would love her, but little did he know, tonight she was going to have a bit of fun—at his expense.
She'd made a plan with Toni, Marc’s older brother, to prank Marc during dinner. The plan? Toni would be rude to her, making snarky comments, while she'd act upset to see how Marc would react. She was hoping for a protective and possessive response, but she wasn't sure how far they could push him.
The food laid out in plates at the table as the family gathered around. Marc sat beside y/n, his hand resting lightly on her knee. He smiled at her as his parents talked warmly to her, and Toni gave her a cheeky smile from across the table, ready to play his part.
As everyone began digging into their plates, Toni shot her a look and decided it was time to begin their little game.
"Are you really going to eat all that?" he asked, his eyes scanning her plate with a smirk. "that's a lot of food don't you think?"
She tensed up, feigning a wince as she gazed down at her plate. She spoke gently, trying to portray her feelings in her voice, "Excuse me?"
Marc immediately glanced at her, furrowing his brow. "Toni," he remarked abruptly, his voice already threatening. "What’s your problem?"
Toni leaned in and spoke louder so that everyone could hear him. "No, seriously," he said. "I don't believe she needs so much food. Do you not believe that you've had enough?"
Without looking directly at Marc, she lowered her head to her dish and started to gently move her food around on your plate.
Even though it was all fake, she wanted the hurt to look real, and it was nearly true now. She allowed herself to be disappointed and possibly sad.
Marc’s hand quickly reached for hers, his grip tightening as his eyes narrowed at Toni. "Toni, shut up," he said, his voice tight with anger. "What the hell is your problem?"
Toni just shrugged, clearly enjoying the anger he was causing from their little prank. "What?" he replied, his tone mocking. "I'm just saying she doesn't need to eat all that, do you?"
Marc turned to her, his face softening, but his irritation still obvious. "Are you okay, amor?" he asked quietly, rubbing her hand in soothing circles under the table.
She nodded gently, tears welling up in her eyes, but he didn't need to know just yet that they were fake. She sniffled, looking down at her plate again. "I’m fine," she whispered, making sure to sound hurt.
The table fell into an awkward silence as everyone noticed Marc's growing frustration with his brother. His parents exchanged surprised glances, clearly wondering why Toni was being so rude, but Marc was still focused on her only.
"Don’t let him get to you," Marc said, his voice softer now. "I’m sorry about him"
But Toni wasn’t finished yet. He was clearly enjoying Marc’s growing anger and decided to push him more. "I’m just looking out for her, Marc," he said, leaning back in his chair. "It’s not like she needs all that food. It’s a lot for someone with her... figure."
She glanced at Marc after this comment, still pretending to be upset, and he noticed. His eyes narrowed, and he stood up abruptly, slamming his hand down on the table.
"Alright, that’s enough!" Marc’s voice was loud, and everyone went silent, startled by his sudden outburst. "Toni, shut up! you don’t get to talk to her like that. You’re crossing a line."
Toni sat up straighter, his face a mix of surprise and amusement. "Relax, I’m just messing with her," he said, though there was a small twitch of guilt in his expression and how he made his brother angry.
But Marc wasn’t having it. "I don’t care if you’re messing around, Toni. Don’t ever talk to my girlfriend like that again," Marc said, his voice firm, his eyes fierce as he turned to her immediately. "Are you okay, baby?"
She blinked surprised, still pretending to be upset, giving a small nod. "Yeah…," she whispered.
Toni shifted uncomfortably in his chair, but Marc wanted to make sure his girlfriend felt comfortable again. His hand was now on her arm, rubbing it gently. He kept glancing at his brother, visibly angry.
Toni sat there, his expression shifting from smug to sheepish. It was clear he didn’t expect Marc to get so upset.
Just as the silence stretched on, she couldn’t hold it in anymore. She burst into laughter, clutching her stomach as she looked at Marc’s confused face. "Marc, I’m so sorry" she said between giggles. "We were just messing with you!"
Toni immediately joined in, unable to contain his laughter either. "It’s just a prank, hermano. She wanted to see how you’d react."
Marc blinked, his anger quickly fading into disbelief. His jaw dropped as he stared between his girlfriend and his brother, trying to process what had just happened. "dumbasses" he muttered, shaking his head.
y/n couldn’t stop laughing at Marc's expression. "You should have seen your face, Marc" she said, still laughing. "You were ready to strangle Toni right there"
Marc let out a frustrated sigh, but then a smile tugged at his lips despite himself. "You guys are so stupid," he said, though there was no real heat behind his words. "I really thought you were upset."
Toni clapped Marc on the back, still grinning. "I told you he’d get all protective. That was priceless."
Marc shook his head again, rubbing the back of his neck, a grin spreading across his face. "I can't believe you two" he said, trying to hide his smile. "don’t ever pull something like this again on me."
She leaned into him, still laughing softly. "Come on, Marc," she teased, kissing his cheek. "That was fun don't deny it"
Marc raised an eyebrow at her. "To you maybe not to me" he said, his voice softening. "But next time, no pranks, okay?"
Toni leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "What can I say? She had to test if Marc would really fight for her." He flashed a grin at Marc. "You passed the test, hermano."
Marc’s eyes softened as he looked at her. "I'd go to war for you, cariño," he said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
She smiled, still feeling the rush of adrenaline from the prank. "that's good to know," she said, leaning in to kiss him.

Hope you like itt!!
After the awkward but honest conversation, Rin finally gave in. Bachira, who had kept teasing and almost forcing him, made Rin feel like there was no other option but to surrender. "I’ll send the message, right?" Rin said in a flat tone, trying not to show the awkwardness taking over him.
You just nodded, letting out a small laugh. "Yeah, sure."
Bachira, now standing next to Rin, flashed a wide smile. "What are you waiting for, Rin? You don’t even need to wait. Just send the message now!"
Rin shot Bachira a sharp look before reluctantly pulling out his phone. "This is just a formality," he said, though his fingers were already typing your number.
You received the message, and instantly, that strange feeling filled your chest again. There was an unexplainable tension—an emotion that blended hope and fear.
"I’ve sent a message," Rin said, his voice softer than before, though still uncertain. "Don’t contact me too often."
You gave a small smile. "Of course,"
After that, you and Rin exchanged goodbyes. You walked back toward your father and family, while Rin and Bachira continued their carefree conversation by the beach.
You felt a bit relieved, though your heart was still adrift with emotions you couldn’t quite explain. That thread, which once felt so heavy, now seemed like a thread leading toward an uncertain direction.

Your family was sitting at the dining table, seemingly ready to head to the beach. Your father greeted you with a wide smile. "Did you rest well? Don’t forget to enjoy your time, okay?"
You nodded, offering a faint smile, trying to hide your mixed emotions. "Of course, Dad. I feel better."
However, inside, something still troubled you. What should you do now? Fully accept fate? Or should you pull back and forget everything?
Your phone vibrated in your pocket, and you immediately checked the sender—Rin.
Rin: "Maybe we can talk more later. But I really don’t know how this will turn out. Just… don’t expect too much."
You stared at the message, feeling a mix of emotions that were hard to describe. Even though Rin said that, there were things that couldn’t be denied. There was a pull, a connection, and it would remain between you two, even if there were no guarantees.
With slightly trembling hands, you replied:
You: "I’ll be patient, Rin. I don’t expect much, but I want to get to know you better."
You looked at the phone screen for a moment before slipping it back into your pocket. It felt strange, but also relieving. Perhaps this was a slow start, but it was the first step in this unexpected journey.
••••
Rin sat on the sand, still thinking about the message he had just sent. Bachira sat beside him, seemingly enjoying the relaxed beach atmosphere.
"So, how’s it going?"
Bachira asked with a big smile.
Rin stared at the sea, slightly annoyed by Bachira’s question.
"I don’t know. I just don’t want things to get more complicated."
Bachira chuckled. "Hah, you’re hard to read. But don’t worry, Rin. If she’s your soulmate, you can’t run from her. Try to be more open."
Rin shot Bachira a half-pessimistic glance. "I’m not the type to open up to strangers."
Bachira shrugged. "We’ll see. I’m sure, even if you’re not ready, you’ll find a way to accept this."
Rin fell silent, staring far out at the sea, his mind swirling. What was he supposed to do with this sudden fate?
• A Week Later
Over the past week, your communication with Rin still felt awkward. The messages exchanged were often short and to the point, more like formalities than casual chats. Still, you felt a little progress. At least Rin wasn’t completely closing himself off.
One morning, while enjoying some time alone at a café near your house, your phone vibrated. A message from Rin appeared.
Rin: "Do you often draw in the park?"
You smiled a little, surprised that he was actually showing some interest. Quickly, you typed a response.
You: "Yeah, the park is my favorite place. Sometimes I draw, sometimes I just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Why?"
A few minutes later, his reply came.
Rin: "It’s nothing. I was just trying to imagine it."
That short message left you momentarily speechless. Rin may not have said it clearly, but you knew he was trying to get to know you better, even if his approach was still a bit stiff.
• 3 Months Later
Your relationship with Rin had slowly progressed. You started talking more often, though most of your conversations were still through messages. Rin, who was usually cold and distant, had begun to show another side of himself—a softer side, even though he still tried to hide it behind his short words and formal demeanor.
One night, after an important match, Rin sent an unexpected message.
Rin: "I’ll be in your town for a match next week. If you're not busy, come watch."
That message made you pause for a moment. It was the first time he invited you to meet again after the encounter at the beach. Cautiously, you typed your reply.
You: "Of course. I’ll be there. Thanks for inviting me."
You then went to bed with mixed feelings—nervous yet excited. As you were about to go to sleep, you felt your phone vibrate again, you raised your eyebrows and then smiled a little when you read the incoming message.
Rin : "i'm not inviting you."
Somehow, you felt funny to read his chat.
••••
The stadium was packed with fans. The electric atmosphere made you even more nervous, but you tried to enjoy the moment. After getting settled in your seat, you looked toward the field. When Rin appeared with his team, your heart raced.
He seemed focused, every move reflecting dedication and incredible skill. Throughout the match, you couldn’t take your eyes off him. He truly dominated the game, and you felt proud for reasons you couldn’t explain.
When the match ended, and Rin’s team won, you received a message from him.
Rin: "I have some time. Wait outside the stadium."
You waited where he mentioned, feeling nervous but also excited. When Rin finally appeared, still in his uniform, you found it hard to stop yourself from smiling.
Rin: "You came," he said, his voice sounding more relaxed than usual.
You: "Of course. I wanted to see you play."
He nodded, looking at you for a moment before glancing away. "What did you think?"
You: "You were amazing. I can see how hard you work."
Rin seemed a little surprised by your compliment, but he just nodded quietly. "Thanks," he muttered.
Your conversation was simple, but there was something different this time. It felt like the distance between you was slowly shrinking, little by little.
• Months Later
Your relationship had continued to grow. Even though Rin was still stiff, he had started opening up in his own way. He often messaged first, though the messages were usually short or consisted of pictures of places he visited during his matches.
One day, he sent a photo of a green field with a beautiful blue sky.
Rin: "This is where I trained today. It reminds me of the park where you draw."
You smiled and quickly typed a response.
You: "Thanks for thinking of me. I’m drawing right now, in the park."
Not long after, Rin sent another message.
Rin: "I'm not thinking of you, i'm thinking of the park. And.. If you have time, show me your drawing. I want to see it."
You were surprised, but also happy. Rin had never shown interest in your hobby before. Carefully, you took a picture of your drawing and sent it to him.
Rin: "..It’s good. I didn’t know you were this good."
You chuckled a little reading his message, feeling your bond with him grow warmer.
• A Year Later
Your relationship had become much stronger. You talked more frequently, both through messages and phone calls. Rin had even started sharing more about his dreams and the challenges he faced as an athlete.
One night, while you were talking on the phone, Rin suddenly said:
Rin: "I know I’m not an easy person. And I don’t know if I’m a good soulmate. But… I want to try."
You paused, feeling warmth fill your chest.
You: "Me too, Rin. We have plenty of time to learn together, right?"
That night, you felt like your relationship had finally reached a new stage. The thread that had connected you no longer felt like a burden, but a promise that you would keep moving forward together, no matter what happened.
• A Month After the Phone Conversation
Rin had slowly started to show his true personality, well, he shows it before. But now, he shows it more often. Even though he still often appeared cold, there were moments when his tsundere nature would surface, especially when he felt embarrassed or didn’t know how to express himself.
One day, after sending a message about your latest drawing, you decided to tease Rin a little.
You: "I drew something today. Guess who inspired it?"
His response came quickly.
Rin: "It’s not me, right? Don’t do anything weird."
You chuckled as you read his message and quickly sent a photo of your drawing—a simple sketch of him on the field.
You: "Actually, it’s you. Sorry if it doesn’t look like you."
A few minutes passed without a reply. You almost thought he didn’t like it, but eventually, your phone vibrated.
Rin: "...It’s okay. But don’t draw me too often. You have other things to do, right?"
You knew this was his way of hiding his embarrassment, so you just smiled and typed a reply.
You: "I just wanted to draw something that inspired me. If you don’t like it, I won’t do it again."
Rin: "I didn’t say I didn’t like it. Just... don’t show it to others."
You just smiled a little when you read the message, he's so cute—wait what?
••••
A few weeks later, Rin came to your town again for another match. This time, he made a request that surprised you.
Rin : "I have a few hours before practice. If you’re not busy, meet me at the café near the stadium,"
Without hesitation, you agreed. When you arrived at the café, Rin was already sitting in a corner with a cup of coffee in front of him. He looked a little nervous, though he tried to hide it.
"You’re fast," he said without looking directly at you.
"You invited me, so I didn’t want to keep you waiting," you replied with a smile.
He huffed softly, sipping his coffee before speaking again. "I just don’t want Bachira to know about this. He’d tease me relentlessly."
You chuckled softly, imagining Bachira’s reaction if he found out about this meeting. "Why are you scared of Bachira? Don’t you always put on a cold face in front of him?"
Rin shrugged, his eyes finally meeting yours. "He’s too loud. And I don’t like complicated things."
You chatted for a while, light conversation, but there was a moment when he suddenly said awkwardly:
"You don’t have to think too much about this. I just... I think we need to meet more often. But not because I want to. It’s just that—" he pointed at his pinky finger, which was connected to the red thread—"this makes me curious."
You smiled slightly, feeling he was trying to hide his true intentions. "Of course. I understand. After all, it’s not because you care, right?" you teased.
Rin immediately looked away, his face slightly flushed. "Don’t get too confident."
• 6 Months Later
Rin’s tsundere side became more evident as your relationship grew closer. Although he often denied his feelings, his actions often spoke louder.
One day, when you were having a bad day, Rin suddenly called you.
"You sounded strange in your last message. What’s wrong?" he asked bluntly.
You tried to reassure him that you were fine, but he didn’t easily believe you.
"Don’t lie. If you don’t want to tell me, I won’t force you. But if you keep acting like this, I’ll come over right now," he said firmly.
You knew he was serious, so you finally opened up about what was bothering you. After listening patiently, he said :
"You don’t have to bear everything alone. If you need help, just say it. Doesn’t mean I care or anything, but... that’s what soulmates are supposed to do, right?"
Although his words sounded cold, you knew he cared in his own way. And that was enough to make you feel better. When you were about to answer his question, you heard the sound of the call being disconnected. You smiled, he was really cute.
••••
Rin wasn’t as stiff anymore, though his tsundere nature remained. He had started getting used to your relationship, though occasionally, he still felt awkward.
When you met again to celebrate your birthday, he brought a small gift—something you never expected.
"This is just... a small thing. Don’t think I spent too much time on it," he said as he handed you a small box containing high-quality colored pencils.
You smiled widely, feeling touched. "Thank you, Rin. I really like it."
He looked away, his face a little flushed. "Yeah, yeah. Don’t talk too much about it. I just thought you might need them to draw better."
You both laughed together, and for the first time, Rin didn’t try to deny the small smile on his face. Even though he still struggled to express his feelings, you knew that he cared for you in his own way—and that was more than enough.
••••
Time had passed, and your relationship with Rin had gone through many phases. From awkwardness and confusion to moments where you both understood each other without needing many words. Rin, although still not adept at showing his emotions directly, had grown into someone who was never hesitant to be by your side when you needed him.
Rin's career in football had been shining brighter than ever. He often moved from country to country for matches and training, but you both maintained your communication. Despite the physical distance, there was always a sense of calm whenever you looked at the red thread on your pinky finger.
One day, Rin sent a message that felt different from the usual.
Rin: "I have some free time next week. There’s something I want to talk about. Meet me at the place where we first met."
Your heart fluttered as you read his message. Although he didn’t explain more, you knew this wasn’t just a regular meeting.
When the day arrived, you went to the beach where you first met. The late afternoon sun cast a golden hue over the sand, making the scene look almost like a painting. In the distance, you saw Rin standing with his hands in his pockets.
"You’re right on time," he said, turning to face you.
"Of course. I knew this was important," you replied with a smile.
He nodded slowly, gazing at the sea for a moment before finally speaking. "I often think... about how my life changed since I met you."
His words made you pause. He rarely spoke like this, and you knew that every word he said carried weight.
"At first, I hated it. I thought this thread would only be an obstacle. But... I was wrong. Because every time I look at this thread, I feel at peace. I feel like there’s someone in this world who always understands me, even when I don’t understand myself."
He paused, taking a deep breath before looking at you again.
"You’ve changed so much in my life. And I want to keep walking forward with you. I don’t know if I can be the perfect person for you, but I’ll try... if you want."
You smiled softly, feeling tears well up in your eyes. "Rin... I never needed perfection. I just need you."
He smiled faintly—a smile that only appeared in certain moments. "Good. Because I’m not letting you go."
••••
• Bonus
A few years later, your lives were filled with simple happiness. Rin remained focused on his career, while you continued your journey as an artist. Every time he returned from a match, you always made time to be together, whether it was strolling in the park or simply chatting at home over a warm cup of tea.
The red thread on your fingers remained, a reminder that this relationship was something fate had chosen for you both. Although it had been difficult and full of challenges in the beginning, you had proven that love wasn’t about perfection—it was about the effort to understand and support each other.
And with every step you took together, you knew that fate had never been wrong in bringing together two hearts that were meant to be.
THE END ! !
|| ugh, why is it so cheesy.. dammit😭😭 I'm actually making a bonus chapter, where Rin and (name) are married<333

— Dia’s tumblr wrapped 2024
I know it’s super late for me to share this, but just as many would say, it’s better late than never. Thank you so much for the lovely people who tagged me to do this: @beomcoups, @shadowkoo, @kingofbodyrolls ♡
2024 started off smoothly…until it didn’t. The final quarter of the year has always been a hard time for me and it wasn’t that much different this year. As you can probably notice that I’ve been mostly absent ever since the end of October and I deeply apologise for that. I also regret not planning things properly and for not keeping up with my goals this year but that only means that I'll be dragging my WIP list towards the next year.
Thank you so much for everyone who has been there for me this year, and those of you who have stuck by me despite my inconsistencies. I really appreciate your presence on my blog, whether it’s through your likes and kudos, your reblogs, your comments and replies on my contents, and the kind words you sent me through my ask box. You guys have made it worthwhile for me to be here even after all these years, and I don’t think I can thank you enough for that. Here’s to mark the end of our wild journey through 2024 and enter the new year of 2025.
OVERALL FIC STATS 2024
Number of fics posted: 4 (four) one-shots, 2 (two) ongoing series, 3 (three) ficlets
Number of fics revamped: 2 (two) completed fics, 2 (two) ongoing series
Number of words written: 448,057 words (dang, no wonder I felt so burned out lol)
Number of fics in progress: 32 (oh, boy…)
FIRST FIC OF 2024
❥ A Christmas Fix 01 & 02 — posted Jan 31st & Feb 1st | 1,926 & 1,226 notes
My thoughts: This was…quite a journey. It’s been a while since I wrote a rom-com story and I was pleased to have been given the chance to write this idea through a collab. The final outcome wasn’t too disappointing either, since I enjoyed writing it and reading it afterwards. I’m glad everyone loved this story as well.
MOST POPULAR FIC OF 2024
❥ The Stand-In (Revamped version) — posted Aug 13th | 4,267 notes
My thoughts: Okay, yeah…I cheated a little. But to be fair, this fic did get a lot of notes this year before and after the revamping process. I loved this story so much that I felt like it deserved a major makeover and I’m glad I managed to do it this year.
LONGEST FIC OF 2024
❥ The Bedroom Hymns — series, ongoing, last updated Sept 9th | 50k++ words | I’m too lazy to open each chapter to count the notes I’m so sorry lol
My thoughts: I know…I know, I need to update this one again. I had to take a break from this series because this fic literally became my main focus this year that a lot of my WIPs kept getting pushed back just so I could finish more of this. I had to stop at some point to finally set free my WIPs. I have to admit that I also lost my motivation to write this due to the lack of notes and responses that I got with each update no matter how much time I spent working on it (tacky, I know…but it is what it is). I still love and enjoy writing this, so more chapters are coming. I can see this fic becoming my main focus again in 2025 until I’m done with it.
LAST FIC OF 2024
❥ The Forsaken II: Tears of the Sea — posted Oct 24th | 712 notes
My thoughts: Holy hell…this fic. Who would’ve thought that I’d be revisiting siren!Taehyung this year after…3 years?? Thank you, whoever it was that sent this during my birthday event. I never expected to write a full fic for this to continue the original story and to answer a lot of your questions, but I’m glad I did!
Honorable mention:
❥ Our Imperfections — posted Oct 30th | 92 notes
My thoughts: This was the last thing I actually released before I dipped into the void but I couldn’t count this as a fic as this was considered a ficlet or, in a more common term, a drabble.
PERSONAL FAVOURITE FIC OF 2024
❥ Blooming Wallflowers — posted Sept 25th | 927 notes
My thoughts: I had one of those rare moments where I found myself enjoying the writing process of a story so much that things simply kept flowing until it became a full story. This one went twice the size planned (and commissioned) but I have no regrets. At all.
Honorable mention:
❥ Maps (revamped version) — series, completed, posted Sept 6th, 7th, & 11th | 1,4k++ notes (again, I’m too lazy to open each chapter lol)
My thoughts: I initially planned to release something else for DPR Ian’s birthday this year. But then I started revamping the graphics for his old fics instead and decided to revamp the whole series while I had the chance. This one has always been my fave work that I wrote for Christian, so diving back into this to do a makeover and give it a major upgrade felt absolutely fulfilling.
2024 SPECIAL EVENT
❥ 𝖙𝖜𝖎𝖑𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖋𝖆𝖑𝖑 𝖘𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖆𝖉𝖊: yoonia’s 2024 birthday bash
My thoughts: Once again, I can’t thank you guys enough for joining this small event of mine. I promise that I’ll have another event in 2025 so please stay tuned! (see you in March!)
Fave reads of 2024
I have to admit that I haven’t been doing a lot of fic reading this year. But I’m happy that I got to dive back into reading some fanfics during my birthday event and found some lovely gems that I truly enjoyed
The Taste of Sin by @shadowkoo
Vignette: Duty by @cybrsan

Finish writing and officially release my original stories/novel as a web-series
Try to do better with planning and scheduling and keeping up with them
Finish revamping Carousel and release the novel version on Ream
Read more. Both published books and released fics
Focus more on my personal health, mental and physical
Start job hunting again
I know I’m late for this, so I’m passing this over to the writers who are tagged on the list above (if you haven’t done this yet) and also tagging a few who come across my mind right now (only if you want to!): @ressjeon @lo1k-diamonds @pars-ley @minisugakoobies @inkedtae
And also tagging randomly anyone who feels inspired to create their own tumblr wrapped!

HOTD: Male Stark Reader meeting, courting, marrying, raising the kids, ruling, and growing old with Rhaenyra. No Dance. I need some domestic happy fluff about how the two go from two strangers who are marrying each other out of duty to a Queen and King consort who have a family and have grown to love one another.
Hello, hope you like it!
Ice And Fire *.✧
rhaenyra targaryen x m!stark reader
WARNING: AU, happy ending, no Dance Of The Dragons
Rhaenyra Targaryen stood at the edge of the Red Keep’s gardens, her silver hair catching the light of the setting sun. She looked like a painting—untouchable, beautiful, and distant. That was your soon-to-be wife. A princess who didn’t seem too thrilled about this arranged marriage. To be fair, neither were you.
But duty was duty.
You adjusted the heavy Stark furs draped over your shoulders and took a deep breath before approaching her. The soft crunch of your boots on the gravel drew her attention. Her violet eyes flicked to you, then away just as quickly, like she wasn’t all that interested in who you were.
"Princess Rhaenyra," you greeted, bowing slightly.
She nodded, her face a picture of politeness, but you could see the tension in her shoulders. "Lord Stark."
"Not a lord for much longer," you joked lightly, without thinking about the words that came out of your mouth due to nervousness. “I hear I’ll be King Consort by the end of the week.”
Her lips twitched, almost like she wanted to smile, but she held it back. “So it seems.”
Awkward silence stretched between you. This was going to be a disaster, wasn’t it? Two strangers shoved together for the sake of alliances. You could feel the cold bite of Northern winters even here in the warmth of King’s Landing.
"I hear the North is… cold," she said, breaking the silence.
You couldn’t help but laugh. "That’s one way to put it. But it’s also beautiful. Vast, untamed. You’d like it, I think."
Her brow raised. "You think so?"
You shrugged. "You strike me as someone who doesn’t like being confined."
That earned a real smile—a small one, but a smile nonetheless. Maybe this wasn’t a lost cause after all.
Courting
Married life started… awkwardly. The wedding had been a grand affair, with feasts and dancing and the kind of fanfare that made you feel out of place. You weren’t used to so much attention. The North didn’t do lavish, but the Targaryens? They thrived on it.
Rhaenyra was polite but distant. She fulfilled her duties—dinners together, public appearances—but behind closed doors, she was guarded. You couldn’t blame her. This wasn’t her choice either.
So, you decided to make the effort. Small gestures at first. Bringing her a book you noticed her eyeing in the library. Walking with her through the gardens. Listening when she spoke about the things she loved—the skies, flying on Syrax, the history of Old Valyria.
One evening, as you both sat by the fire, you handed her a small box.
"What’s this?" she asked, eyeing it suspiciously.
"Open it."
Inside was a necklace—a delicate silver chain with a small wolf pendant. "I had it made for you. A piece of the North to keep with you."
Her fingers brushed over the pendant, her expression softening. "It’s… lovely. Thank you."
For the first time, the walls between you started to crack.
Falling in Love
It happened slowly. Shared smiles during council meetings. Quiet conversations late at night. The way she started leaning into your touch instead of pulling away.
You found her one evening in the nursery, holding your firstborn son, Jacaerys. The sight stopped you in your tracks—Rhaenyra, her hair falling loose around her shoulders, humming softly as the baby gurgled in her arms.
"You’ll spoil him," you teased, stepping into the room.
She looked up, her smile lighting up the dim space. "He deserves a little spoiling."
You moved to stand beside her, your hand brushing hers as you looked down at your son. "You’re a natural at this."
"At what?"
"Being a mother."
Her cheeks flushed, and she leaned her head against your shoulder. "To be honest, I never imagined myself being a mother."
Moments like that became more frequent. You started to feel less like strangers and more like a team.
Building a Family
By the time your fourth and fifth child was born, twins: Viserys II and Visenya, the castle was filled with laughter. Rhaenyra ruled with grace and strength, and you supported her every step of the way. When court politics became too much, you’d whisk her away to the for a moment of peace.
Your children grew up in a home filled with love. You made sure of it. Whether it was teaching your sons to wield a sword or letting your daughter braid your hair, you were present in their lives.
Rhaenyra often teased you for being soft with the children, but you’d catch her sneaking them sweets or reading them bedtime stories long after they should’ve been asleep.
Growing Old Together
Years passed, and the love between you only deepened. You weren’t just a King Consort and a Queen; you were partners, friends, lovers.
You stood together on the balcony one evening, watching as your grandchildren played in the courtyard below. The years had added silver to your hair and lines to your faces, but none of that mattered.
"Do you regret it?" Rhaenyra asked softly.
You turned to her, surprised. "Regret what?"
"This life. Marrying me. Leaving the North."
You cupped her face in your hands, your thumb brushing over her cheek. "Never. You’re my home, Rhaenyra. You always have been."
Tears glistened in her eyes, and she leaned into your touch. "I love you."
"I love you too."
And as the sun set over King’s Landing, you knew you wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

Selcouth Sneak Peek
Chapter Eight
They stepped out onto the balcony. Sirius placed a hand on her lower back, steering her away from the rest of the party goers. His hand dropped when they found a secluded corner away from all the drunken wizards and rich snobs that had more money than they knew what to do with. He turned, leaning his side into the railing. Tegan mimicked him, her head cocking to the side.
“Tell me everything I should know about the Weasley family,” Sirius said, his eyes searching her face.
“They are the nicest and warmest family I have ever met,” Tegan replied with a soft smile. “My daughter is best friends with Ginny and she’s also dating Ron. I’m invited to every single event that family holds, which, trust me, is a lot. They have ongoing Friday night dinners where almost everyone always shows up. They are invested in each other’s lives. Ginny actually lives across the pond from her parents’ house.”
Sirius nodded. “Any entanglements that came to life after the war?” he pressed. “Even if it’s a third cousin twice removed, I need to know.”
“No,” Tegan said in a sure tone. “They’re a good family, Sirius. Extremely loyal to one another. If you’re lucky enough to enter their orbit, they’re fiercely loyal to you as well.”
Sirius shoved his hands into his trouser pockets. “So, I’m being a paranoid git for nothing?”
Tegan’s brows lowered on her face. “Definitely,” she replied with no hesitation. “Was that really a question?”
Sirius rolled his eyes, a sigh escaping his lips. “Harry wants to move back to England to be closer to James and Ginny.”
Tegan smiled. “That’s great!”
Sirius’ face pulled.
“You don’t want him to?” Tegan asked.
Sirius swallowed, his gaze flickering to the sky. “I just worry for his safety in England.”
Tegan touched his arm, causing him to look back at her. “It’s not like it was before,” she assured him, her thumb brushing against the fabric of his suit jacket. “Voldemort’s followers aren’t causing issues.”
“Yet,” Sirius stressed, his eyebrows shooting up.
Tegan dropped her hand from his arm. “Sirius…”
“You don’t believe he’s actually dead, do you?” Sirius pressed, his lips thinning into a straight line.
“There was a body,” Tegan replied as though that meant something.
“I’ve heard stories from people who attempted to kill him and spells that should have done the trick barely made him flinch,” Sirius said in a low tone, his eyes flickering around them to ensure no one would overhear.
Tegan sighed. “Those are all stories.”
“Dumbledore doesn’t think so,” Sirius added, his arms crossing over his chest. “He believes it’s only a matter of time before he reappears.”
“So, what? You think Harry goes back to England and some Death Eaters will reincarnate Voldemort?” Tegan asked in an incredulous tone, her head shaking. “Do you know how mad that sounds? No magic can bring back the dead.”
“They could if he’s not actually dead,” Sirius explained.
Tegan frowned deeper, her dark eyes boring into him. “And the body that was burned was what? An illusion?”
Sirius stared at Tegan. Knowledge was a dangerous thing to have. Trust between two people seemed nearly impossible to maintain. Except, Tegan kept the secret of Harry being in England. She contacted Sirius first instead of saying James looked like a Potter to people she was extremely close to. Having an Auror like Tegan in his corner would be beneficial. Dumbledore always said it was good to collect strong allies, ones who could obtain knowledge and have skill sets that you may lack.
Sirius wasn’t stupid. He knew what he brought to the Order all those years ago. Knowledge of pureblood circles, who were friends and who were enemies. He knew their secrets. He heard their gossip. Being a Black was beneficial in that way. Sirius grew up with the very wizards that had been rallied and radicalized by Voldemort. He understood what motivated them, what enticed them.
While over the years Sirius lost access to that information, now he had an even more important connection that Dumbledore wanted access to: Harry. Sirius allowed it, needing Dumbledore’s resources and knowledge to keep his godson safe. Sirius doubted that Harry would even be alive at this point if it hadn’t been for Dumbledore’s connections. Watching Harry waste away at such a young age from the Horcrux slowly chipping away at him had been the worst years of Sirius’ life.

Hit Me Hard & Soft
A/N- Hi lovelies! I know it’s Wednesday, but yesterday was New Year’s Eve and I was busy throwing ass so I didn’t post. LMAO I will still be posting another chapter tomorrow (Thursday) as regularly scheduled though! 🤍
BPOV
“Billie, you wanna stop anywhere for food? It’s getting late and you barely ate lunch.” My mom walked over to my bunk, where I had been laying for the past 10 hours. I felt like shit all day. Mostly from the hangover of a lifetime that I was experiencing, but also from the things I said last night.
I shook my head, removing one of my AirPods. “Kinda nauseous.” I mumbled as she climbed in with me. I nuzzled my head into her arms.
“Have you heard back from Remy yet?” She asked, looking at my phone with me as I scrolled through tik tok.
“She called back but I didn’t answer.”
“Why not, honey?”
“Because…” I trailed off, not knowing exactly why. “She didn’t say goodbye.”
“Billie… Finneas told me about your fight last night. Don’t you think you were a little hard on her?” She said softly.
“I’m always putting her first, mom.” I locked my phone, setting it to the side. “She’s so unhappy there and she’s prioritizing it as if it were her dream job. I don’t get why she never listens to me.”
“I know that she’d never ask you to set your job aside… and she’d never ask you to leave what you love for her.” She looked at me with those wise eyes. The type that had seen all of the seasons of life, including mine.
“I know. But she’s not doing what she loves. I want her to do what she loves, here, with me.” I sighed.
“What do you think she loves?” She grabbed one of my cold hands and warmed it up in hers.
“I know she loves… film… directing… she loves to write scripts… and journaling.” I began to smile subconsciously. “She’s so creative, it’s like you opened Pandora’s box when she gets her crazy ideas.”
My mom nodded, letting me finish before commenting. “I think you love her so much, that you want her to achieve all of her dreams, just like you did. But do you remember when you danced? And you wanted to be a dancer?”
I nodded.
“And then you broke your growth plate, and you never danced again?”
“Yeah.”
“Look at you now. You’re a singer, songwriter, and you’ve been all over the world with Finneas… and everyone knows who you are. And everyone loves you. And have so many awards, you can’t even process it.”
“I know, but mom-“
“Honey, you love what you do. And you love that you make such a difference in all your fan’s lives. But you had no idea it would be this different back when you were dancing in that little studio.”
I shrugged.
“You didn’t. You couldn’t have imagined. It’s a whole different reality that you’re living, sweetheart. Sometimes you can’t see different perspectives when you’re in your own point of view. It’s so difficult to see beyond your own horizon… But you know what you did know?”
“What.”
“That Remy would be your biggest supporter no matter what. She cheered you on when you danced and she cheers you on to this day.”
“I know.”
“Honey, you gotta talk to her. She probably feels just as bad as you do. You both said things you didn’t mean.” She kissed my forehead.
“I’m mad at her, mom.” I stood my ground.
“Have you thought about the fact that you might just want to stay mad at her so you don’t have to miss her?”
It made sense when she said it out loud. What didn’t make sense is that I did miss her. I’m angry at her and want her here with me all at the same time. No closure, no hug goodbye, no apologies… the way I left was so unsatisfying. I wanted to hold her and tell her I’m sorry, while she probably apologizes even though she didn’t do anything wrong. It was mostly me. But I was mad at her, regardless. Because she wasn’t here, and it was easier to be angry, than be sad.
“I’m gonna get some sleep.” I put my one AirPod back in, grabbing my phone again. She kissed my forehead again and climbed out of my bunk.
“Let me know if you need anything, baby.”
I nodded, turning to face the wall. I drafted up texts to Remy, hovering over the send button, but deleted each one. As much as it hurt to think, I figured she didn’t want to hear from me.
This morning, I woke up at Finneas’ house, where he and Claudia repeated what I said to Remy.
I’m not going to lie, I cried for about an hour before getting on this tour bus when I realized Remy wasn’t coming to see me. I didn’t blame her, but at the same time, I would’ve gone to hug her goodbye no matter what she said to me.
I mean, I only want what’s best for her. All I ever do is look out for her. If she would only listen to me, she’d be so much happier. It’s soul crushing, every time she rejects my advice, my help… It feels like she’s rejecting me. And oh my, how it crushes my soul when she rejects me.
The truth is I’d do anything for her. I’d buy her a house, pay her parents enough each month for them to stop asking her for money, and bring her with me everywhere I go. I’ve asked her a million times to be my videographer, photographer, or anything at all she wants to be on tour. She refuses to accept money from me. She gets mad at me when I buy her expensive gifts, even on Christmas or her birthday. In a way, I loved that about her. I loved that she didn’t take advantage of me, or anyone else. I loved that she was a giver, but I wanted to give her more than she could ever imagine. The fact that she never lets me, hurts, even though it makes me respect her more.
God, I want to call her, tell her I’m sorry, and fly her out to Quebec so I can meet her there. But, I won’t. Because, she clearly doesn’t need my help, or my advice, or…. me. She said it herself, I’m a shitty friend. If I’m such a shitty friend, why am I the only one with her best interest in mind? I wasn’t trying to control her, or tell her what to do with her life. I was trying to help her reach her goals.
I wish I hadn’t drank so much yesterday. I wish we could’ve just gone to her apartment, spent our last night together in comfy clothes, eating snacks, and watching our show. I wish she had asked me to sleepover, so she could wake me up once or twice from tossing in her sleep, as she usually did around 2am. So I could cover her back up with the sheets she always kicked off, and feel her throw her leg over me, instead of all her satin-cased pillows.
I wish we hadn’t fought. I wish I would’ve kept it to myself. I wish I hadn’t said most of the things I said, in the way I said them. I felt nauseous thinking about how she might be feeling right now.
My thumbs lead me to her contact, hovering over the call button. But I stopped myself each time, feeling rejection and pain once again. Eventually, my eyes gave up the fight between them and my brain, sending me into a restless sleep.

About 12 days later, we performed in Newark, New Jersey.
“Dude, you were incredible out there! You don’t even need us!” Finneas hugged me backstage, properly greeting me. He came out to surprise me, and the rest of the audience, for a few songs in the setlist. I was ecstatic.
“I missed you so much, brudder! Thank you for coming.” I squeezed him, swaying side to side. I couldn’t contain my excitement.
“Are you kidding? I had to. I miss touring with you, this sucks.” He laughed. “How’ve you been?”
I let go and took a sip of my water. He sat on one of the seats, giving me his full attention.
“I’ve been okay.” I say, knowing whenever I have any free time at all, I spend it sulking and overthinking about what could’ve been. Touring is my favorite thing in the world, yet when my mind isn’t occupied by planning or rehearsals, it goes back to the same night.
“Let me rephrase. Have you been able to talk to Remy at all?” He shifted in his seat, crossing one leg over the other.
“No. I, uhh… I haven’t.” I shook my head, sitting next to him.
“Billie, it’s been like two weeks…”
“I know, I know. It’s just been so busy, and I’ve been struggling to even find the words- I just don’t have the time. I feel like it’s one thing after the other these days. I’m tired all the time, and when I have a couple days between concerts I just fall into this weird headspace.”
“Are you doing okay?”
“No. I’m not. I’m so happy when I perform. And then when it’s over it’s like I come down from this extreme high and it feels so anticlimactic.”
“That’s because you have no one to share it with.”
“That’s not true! I call you, and mom and dad all the time to-“
“Not the same thing. You know what I mean.” He tilted his head.
“Can we not talk about her please? I missed you I want to hang out.”
He nodded, “Yeah. Let’s go get some food.” He stood up and put an arm around me as we walked out.
At the restaurant, we ate and caught up. He showed me videos from his tour, and I did the same. I miss having him on tour, but no one could be more proud of him than I am.
Inevitably, the topic of Remy came back up, as I slid through my camera roll and came across a picture of us.
“Billie… we gotta talk about this.”
I slumped back into the booth, grabbing a French fry and munching on it.
“I don’t think you remember everything about that night, bro.” He propped his elbows up on the table and rested his chin on his hands.
“I know, I was an asshole, and I need to apologize-“
“Well, no. There’s more to it.” He squinted. I furrowed my brows, listening attentively.”
“I didn’t want you to feel like- I thought you remembered but I’m questioning now if you even do…” he rambled. I didn’t really know what he was talking about. The last part of that night was such a blur. It was my first and only black out I’ll ever have.
“What is it?” I shook my leg impatiently. I wonder if this was the reason she hadn’t texted me at all since I left.
Finneas looked at me like he didn’t know what to say. He struggled to find the words, making me more nervous by the second.
“Finneas… What did I do?” I asked him, my heart beating fast.
