i am a huge supporter of no romance in sonic whatsoever because 1. pre reboot archie sonic shows exactly what can happen when sonic writers are allowed to pair up whoever they want and write romance focused stories and it was Absolute Torture and 2. heavy focus on romance just feels REALLY out of place for sonic. friendship and family should be the main focus always in terms of character relationships. however i think tangle and whisper should be allowed to be a couple for real. the solution here is to just keep everything the same as it was before except randomly have tangle start calling whisper her girlfriend with no explanation the next time they show up

#tbh the only romance i think should be allowed to exist in sonic are characters that were introduced as a couple from the start #and the fact that theyre in love is obvious but its not a big deal and theres not much focus on it #(good examples of what i mean are tom and maddie from the sonic movies and bunnie and antoine in post reboot archie sonic)#and also no giving characters like sonic amy knuckles shadow etc canon romantic partners #im pretty sure this is what sega means by the no romance rule anyway #no romance focused stories and no couples unless theyre a couple from the start #nite and don from idw sonic being a canon couple approved by sega because them being a couple was included in their #initial pitch and planned from the start kind of confirmed that #(well according to their creator that was the case anyway.#i honestly didnt even realize they were supposed to be in love until it was pointed out)#(but whatever. my god these bitches gay good for them good for them etc etc)
