i know this post is three years old now, but 1. OP i love you, and 2. i have an addition! in particular in regards to the possibility of deacon being "john D" from the RRHQ terminal
and it's all from this particular line:
Player Default: You really founded it? Deacon: {Happy} Sure. Me and Johnny D and Watts. Hell, that was 60? 70 years ago? After a while you lose count.
"me and johnny D and watts." aka... deacon... the dude namedropped in the RRHQ... and where did this "watts" name come from?
well, we do have a known railroad agent with the name of watts -- victoria watts. she was the railroad representative in the replicated man
now, we know that deacon will borrow from the world around him constantly in his lies -- but, if there's a chance that deacon was john D, and we know he was in the capital wasteland during fallout 3, and then there's that line about that time when he "was a girl for a few months"...
"me and johnny D and watts" could very easily be a "me, myself, and i" joke -- one that only he would be in on
i think deacon’s idle voice lines reveal a lot more about him as a person than anything he says during affinity conversations, and here’s why
get ready for a long meta post about deacon that nobody asked for, because we’re deep diving today.

#fallout 4#mala talks#deacon#this is one of my fav pet theories my fiance and i came up with#technically he also talks about how we ''shouldve seen the faces back at HQ''#but there's nothing in that saying WHEN they found out -- no suggested timeline#its also very funny to me he legitimately pretended to be a ghoul for a month -- we know that one's real bc pinky bitched about it#meanwhile deacon never boasts about that one even tho truths that are so crazy they sound fake are exactly the kind of thing he loves#anyway#i also subscribe to ''deacon is john D'' the timelines are just too perfect#and also line up with the same ''desdemona was lambda 8's wife'' logic
