Kind of funny side effect of Brookfield Zoo's Next Century Plan including keeping elephants again: got an email from my zoo (that I volunteer at) and they were like "ok so here's your playbook for what to say if guests start asking why we don't have elephants or if we plan on getting elephants"

#statisticalcats zoo blogging #idk it's just kinda funny to me how every so often something happens in The Public and it apparently sparks a Meeting #and then we get new guidelines for talking with The Public #though i don't think anything will beat when there was apparently some mild backlash #when some formerly free special events started being paid events (because covid)#and one of the Decisions made was literally ''so this number here is how much we spend DAILY *just* on feeding our animals #feel free to share that number''#and also friendly reminders about how we're one of the very few zoos in the country with free admission otherwise #sometimes you can just feel the passive aggression behind some carefully curated words ygfihuwdois
