aah, i’m glad you like him!! :] it’s been such a long time since i did anything with his character but i do still like him and am mostly content with his design and writing - while also still thinking morty honestly deserves someone that would appreciate him and someone he could lean on for some emotional support. his life is literal hell, dude. 

they’re in the same math class! i’m pretty sure according to my original drafts alex was repeating the class - probably thanks to an unrecognized learning disability because he can’t do math for shit -, since he’s a year above morty. plus the idea of morty pining for jessica while alex is pining for him in the same room just sounded really ironic in my head. 

though alex noticed morty way before morty noticed him beyond a level of recognition - he’s sort of the athlete/jock type, a crowd morty doesn’t really associate with. most people know of alex, since he’s pretty popular, but not a whole lot of people know him. it’s safe to say alex had a little old crush even before he got to interact with him, which grew into a big old crush once they did become friendly. however, i imagine it wasn’t exactly the quickest of get-togethers - with it being high school, alex not Officially being out and morty still having feelings for jessica. but hey, they got there. eventually. a couple seasons tops.
