i think if ed didnt have such a fear of confrontation they would diffuse situations the way i do: either blurt out the most random, off topic thing they could think of or, if it was directed toward themself, the most off the wall thing they could say that still works in context

#imagine: francisco yelling at isabel and ed just chiming up did you know ducks have a corkscrew penis?#if he tried to continue after the initial wtf moment ed could just say louder YEAH AND THE FEMALE DUCKS HAVE CORKSCREW VAGINAS.#BUT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. GRANDPA GUERRA ISNT THAT CRAZY? SOMETIMES THEY HAVE DEAD ENDS TOO #paranatural #but in order for that to work you have to be willing to have the anger directed at you. and i dont think theyd be cool with that.#maybe in the future #is it a fear of confrontation? it feels that way to me and i cant think of a better term #i also suppose its not ‘diffusing a situation’ and more like. forcing a change in topic to take ppls minds off whatever was happening #and THEN diffusing the situation. or riding it out bc its gonna be much shorter than whatever was happening
