omg imagine an angry and upset ryan telling homelander (maybe during a confrontation now he knows how he was conceived) "you don't even love ME, dad! not like mom did. you just love the idea of me and it's not the same!" which of course is exactly what homelander has experienced his entire life from vought and the public. we know homelander still has a tiny miniscule smidgeon of self-awareness so perhaps this would devastate him. perhaps, perhaps. ANGST ATTACK.

oh god YES I wish we had a scene like that. Essentially mirroring the ones where Homelander blows up at Ryan about him meeting up/caring about Butcher. Ryan should get to have the same tantrum (except y'know, his is prolly a lot more valid)

i love me some angst!!! And I think it would be a great way for Homelander to discover that yes he can be loved (because even through all this I'm sure Ryan has that ingrained unconditional love for Homelander in him) but keeping the people that love him happy is a separate skill that he has 0 experience in.

Also I love the Becca throwback. Comparing her love, the love of a puny human to his. How could she ever compare to how he loves Ryan? But it's never about status and who you are when it comes to loving someone! And he doesn't get that!!! I'd love for this character development to happen because of Ryan. For that need for family and all that's normal to be more important than all the plans to enslave humans (or whatever). Because like Sage says, that won't make him happy either (which he agrees with) so.... it'd be really nice to see him actually prioritize caring about Ryan and learning how to be a decent dad (I'm holding off on saying good 😂)
