on this day, hyuk’s phone lights up with a text from yours truly. it’s short and sweet and straight to the point: this sunday, 6pm. come hungry. there’s a pinned location and no further context.
the address leads to a teppanyaki restaurant tucked away on the outskirts of seoul. upon arrival, the hostess would greet the birthday boy by name and whisk him to a cooking station in the back where a familiar face has already made himself comfortable – except rowon isn’t seated on the guest side; instead, he stands behind the iron grill, donning a chef hat and a stupid, matching grin.
cooking for hyuk is a given, but just dinner isn’t enough. at the end of the day, rowon’s a performer so that’s what he does: he performs. he puts on a show, does tricks and twirls with the spatula, cracks an egg into a ladle and uses the running yolk to write happy birthday. if hyuk looks away for even a second, rowon would ‘accidentally’ lose a spoon and catch it right before it flies past hyuk’s head. eyes on me. there’s fire, rhythmic drumming. he keeps his guest entertained with stories and jokes in-between plates of grilled meats and fried rice.
dessert doesn’t sell itself short on theatrics. rowon throws an arm around hyuk’s shoulders, pulls him in, and makes him listen to an off-key rendition of the happy birthday song. and when it’s all said and done, he brings out a slice of chocolate cake with a sparkling candle bearing the number 1.
“happy first birthday, hyukkie ~” a joke, of course.
when the phone screen blinked and he read the name there he had a faint idea what he would get. fighting the urge to be a brat and reply with something uncool like “i can't, sorry”, he just left his best friend on read and finished the dance routine he had been working on the past three days; only later that night, he sent rowon a message, a short “treat me good or lose me forever”.
he also fought the curiosity to click the pinned location for the next few hours until sunday, despite being really curious about what rowon had in mind for them, but he knew it was something special - whenever the older man acted like that, all mysterious, hyuk knew a special treat was being planned.
his driver took him to the restaurant and even when he asked when it was time to pick him up, hyuk shook his head, dismissing the man. he wanted the full experience there with rowon and even when he tried not to look surprised when he saw him behind a food station, he failed miserably.
hyuk tried many times during the development of their friendship to take everything very casually, not letting someone know how deep and damaged he felt sometimes and how scared he was of putting people in danger, but with rowon it was almost impossible. the older male had a magnetic aura, something that pulled you closer and made you trust him, sometimes blindly; hyuk was partially like that.
“you look cute, almost edible”, he teased, leaning closer to the grill as he watched rowon give him a cooking show. it made him smile, thinking about the countless times he tried to learn something from him and always failed - and after some time, he just wanted rowon to keep cooking for him, their bonding language came through food.
they talked, as if they didn’t share a dorm, as if they had kept secrets from each other for a long time, and hyuk felt so happy he realized this was probably one of his best birthdays. for so long he kept himself from really enjoying that date with people other than his parents, that this year he was just grateful to have good trusting people around, people like rowon.
he covered his ears when rowon started to sing, a tease, finally, because it’s obvious he liked it when his friend sang but it was also a way to hide how overwhelmed he was feeling. the warmth in his heart is evident when he fell into rowon’s embrace and giggled his thanking words, his voice was a little choked but he promised himself he wasn’t going to cry, “i love you too, old man. thank you for everything”
#rowonlgc#happy hyuk day#he really made hyuk's day for real#and i forgot to post this bc im DUMB shoot me

crash landing on you.
woah...if a drama ever could crash land, oh i mean ‘descend’ into my heart it was this one. it descended from the greatest drama writers and has been placed into my list of top dramas of all time. like i’m telling you it’s up there with ‘scarlet heart ryeo’, ‘something in the rain’ and ‘mr. sunshine’. seriously it will not disappoint you and i would give it 100 out of 10.
overview.
this drama follows se-ri, a ceo of an impressive cosmetic-lifestyle brand in seoul. she goes to test drive some of her paragliding products, and a nasty storms ends up sending her to north korea. after landing, she soon meets ri jung-hyuk, a captain in north korea monitoring the boarder. the drama follows him protecting her to deliver her home to south korea, and how their relationship flourishes in the diversity they face from two very different sides of the boarder.
there is romance, family drama, political issues, and cultural differences that are presented in this drama. and i was absolutely there for it all. i ended up writing down my thoughts and fave moments from each episode. because from the start i knew this drama would wreck my heart, and i wanted to look back at all the good times, and times i cried my eyes out of course. so i posted a week-by-week playback from the drama so if you want to see my random thoughts from each week here is the link week-by-week playback.
*spoiler alert* they are ahead, you have been warned.
i have many thoughts, and i am writing this the day i finished the drama. so i will do my best to touch on everything that really struck me throughout this drama. i may even have to go back and update later on, because it is a lot to process.
characters.
i appreciated that we followed so many characters and that the characters were dynamic and held their own for the plot and development of the story.
ri jeong-hyeok and yoon se-ri. their relationship developed so beautifully. i loved how he had a heart to protect her immediately. from their first meeting and him directing her how to leave the north, and her running towards it just showed their personalities perfectly. once he discovered that she was still there he was determined to get her out safely, and to protect her no matter the cost. when we come to find that they met long before, it just went to show how deep their connection and destiny was (cue me singing lyn’s ‘my destiny’ from my love from the star at least twice an episode). he saved her life many a times, as well as her saving his. they had so many moments. some of my faves (obvi not a comprehensive list all of their moments, that would be too much for my heart):
her falling from the tree saying he was totally her type.
how he kept trying to meet her needs even though it was ridiculous and not necessities for the north, but were needs for her as a lady from the south. from making her food, to getting her the candles and body products from the market.
when she was lost in the market and he got a scented candle to lift up to find her.
him keeping her photo even though he called her out saying that it was silly to get extras.
after ri jeong-hyeok got shot protecting her, and their first kiss moment at the hospital.
when ri jeong-hyeok’s family kidnaps her and they meet again at his family home.
when seri played on the piano and we discovered that it was jeong-hyeok’s song all along, the song for his brother that saved her life. when she contemplated suidcide in switzerland.
when his brother’s watch came full circle, to provide pertinent information in turning in the bad man and being the gift se-ri had bought to gift to jeong-hyeok.
when he followed her to the south to protect her, and they met on the street.
when he and the boys surprised her for her birthday.
him waiting for her after he was taken by the NIS and they allowed him to be at her bedside in the ICU until she woke up from the coma.
him leaving her a fully stocked fridge and writing out recipes for her. along with leaving her text messages for a year.
him leaving her a recording of him playing the piece on the piano for her to fall asleep, rather than her depending on sleeping medications.
them writing i love you with books on the shelf.
captain ri’s company. i throughly enjoyed the addition of getting to know all of his men. they all developed a friendship with se-ri and it was so precious. and how she gave them all rewards before she was meant to leave the first time, and gifted them things. i loved how they all came to love her and wanted to protect her, which is especially prominent in how they all surround her after she was shot by cheol-gang.
ju-meok and his love for south korean dramas throughout the episodes was precious. i loved that seri was able to make his dream and gift come true to meet his favorite actress. eun-dong a precious bean, just wanting to see his family, not always knowing what was going on, but always providing emotional support. kwang-beom the handsome face, who blew his cover in the south when all the agencies wanted to recruit him (hahaha). and of course chi-su the one most hesitant to accept her, came to love her most and became the most accustomed to the lifestyle of the south.
these men tended to provide the perfect comedic relief for many tense moments. their one liners were perfect. i appreciated them coming to the south and trying to get accustomed to blend in. all those scenes were hilarious from them in the stores walking around with their knock off brand names, hours in the internet cafes, sauna stays, and chicken dinners. some notable moments include the birthday celebration scene, when seri thought they had left and gone back to the north and starts weeping on the floor, just for them to come out for the ‘surprise’. and them saying wait ju-meok you said surprises were a good idea but she is crying. another moment being when ri jeong-hyeok was showing seri his scars saying hers won't be too bad, and them walking in thinking something scandalous was happening, (this even happened when captain ri was in the hospital in north korea hahaha).
jeong-hyeok’s family. the storyline behind his brother was kind of dropped, and it was kinda sad because i feel like it shaped jeong-hyeok immensely. but it was so sad that his brother passed in such a tragic way at the hands of cheol-gang. and that it brought jeong-hyeok back from his dream as a pianist to fulfill what he needed to for his family. his father was stern and hilarious in the scene when the two of them finally met again. just being baffled that his only son left was in love with a woman from the south. his mother was so supportive of him, and i loved that. she just wanted her only son to be happy in life and come back alive.
now seri’s family is whole other story they were WACK. like seriously insane and it was ridiculous. her father and mother redeemed themselves compared to the beginning, once seri returned they kept it in check and wanted the best for her. i loved how the mother and daughter relationship blossomed and how she was there for her daughter in recovery and grieving the loss of jeong-hyeok as he went back to the north. that was beautiful.
now on to her oppa se-hyeong and his witch of a wife sang-a. they wanted to keep her in the north, then when she was back to send her back/use it against her in business ventures, then tell cheol-gang her address so he could take her. like what?!?! her eldest brother and his wife were oblivious and just wanted money and titles, but dang at least they didnt send an ex NK officer after seri. and it was only until the man-bok wire tapped the room while she was in a coma did it come out that they were truly evil.
our second otp. seung-jung and seo dan. my goodness what an unexpected pairing, but you know i was on that ship as soon as i saw it developing. i loved how they dished what the other served, and how seung-jung was a different person who wanted to do better by her, seriously they were great. i loved that seo dan saw that she was worthy and deserved to have a man that wanted her and saw her true beauty and qualities that made her a strong and independent woman. and that she didnt need to pursue something that was not vibrant because jeong-hyeok did not pursue her how she deserved, because he had someone else in his heart. i loved this relationship. and i really did not appreciate that we finally had major character development from seung-jung, and then he died. like seriously?! we went from only a few episodes prior going to turn seri into her brother and keep her there in the north. and then he went to protect seo dan and ended up losing his life to protect her.
the moment he asked her what she was referring to when she said, ‘i like it’. was it jeong-hyeok, was it the ramen, or was it him (seung-jung)?!? and she responded with him, weeping. i weeped like a baby. and then he died in the ambulance. i couldn't contain it.
seo dan’s family. i loved her mother, she provided much comedic relief when it came to how seo dan and jeong-hyeok were originally engaged, to kinda getting on the ship of ‘alberto’, to being like maybe it’s fine if she is alone, let me get myself a man. it was hilarious. i also loved how she went into the village and used her money on the black market to get goods to the ladies of the village. it was quite funny to see how much of the south, she appreciated even though they were pretty high up in status in the north. like the boutiques she went to, and the english phrases, and south korean products she used.
the women of the village. these women were precious. they were hilarious in how they always prepared the best for jeong-hyeok when he came back from the outpost. i loved how the village banned together to protect seri and how seri made limited edition products in tribute to them.
the premise and themes.
overall the idea of this concept is wild and completely ridiculous. that she was hidden for so long, that they met before in switzerland of all places, and that it took her weeks to escape the north and it took 8 men 12 hours to get there is ridiculous. but then again if we didn’t have these wild storylines would it really be a drama?
it was interesting to see their perspective of life in the north, for the duration of the drama i was wondering how much of this is true. from the market to the wiretapping of the homes, to the guards and military structure. it was all very intriguing. and i also have issues with people saying this drama glorified north korea because i would like to see those receipts because i did not see it portrayed as a wonderful place to live. it looked difficult and cold, and terrifying!
the only thing that humanized it was the people, which is how it is in these situations. the people there, just typical everyday people, do not necessarily reflect the hierarchy of hate portrayed by officials of the government.
it was so sad at the place that seri was incredibly vulnerable and wanted to take her own life. she insanely depressed and how jeong-hyeok in that precise moment when he was sad and alone wrote a piece of music for his brother that brought her out of her own darkness was beautiful. even though they did not talk or communicate face to face, the heart behind his music brought her out. and they were eventually able to come full circle and meet and grow together. se-ri is an incredible strong character and i wish she had the support she needed from her family and friends. i am glad that jeong-hyeok was able to be there for her, and meet her in her most vulnerable moment on the bridge.
cinematography and episode layout.
i loved the filming of this. like seriously it was beautifully done. from the dynamic scenes in nature and traveling through the forests, to the cityscapes and small moments they highlighted.
i appreciated how we followed the cohesive storyline, but that at the end of each episode we got an extra tidbit to take with us. one of the most noteworthy ones being when the NIS was investigating the ‘spies’/captain ri’s men and looking at all their histories and transactions and places they visited (HILARIOUS). then at the end of that episode it flashed back to the NIS, and now they were looking into jeong-hyeok. and it showed the collective moments that him and se-ri shared and the investigator said that a psychologist viewed all the materials and found to conclude that jeong-hyeok was in love with se-ri. then the lead investigator was like, ‘no duh, you needed a psychologist to tell you that bro. i can see it with my own eyes’. i laughed so hard.
these end scenes at the end of the episodes were also pivotal in piecing together their histories. and seeing how they had met long ago and that destiny truly brought them together.
the ending.
i am partially satisfied with the ending. i like how we got to see where everyone went. like even the little things of how man-bok and his family ended up in pyeongyang. and that the village ladies were same old same old even with a new captain showing up.
i was disappointed that our second otp was ripped apart by those chinese gangsters, because we could have had it all, and not the tragic ending of him protecting her from the bad men and dying a slow painful death and they finally confessed their love for each other.
i loved that our couple found each other eventually, after years but that it was while she was paragliding, which i freaking called it being like wouldn't that bring us full circle! it was wild and i loved how it ended with them on a picnic enjoying life in a little house with all their photos, because that's how it all started. i wish we could have seen them in the future with their twins, but ya know i’ll take this ending over a scarlet heart ryeo for our main leads.
the ost.
my goodness i have never had a great drama with a subpar ost tracks. and this one does not fall short. now, i have drama ost playlists each each, and i believe every track from this drama made the list, because *insert slow clap* they are fantastic. my faves:
‘flower’ by yoonmirae.
‘here i am again’ by yerin baek.
‘all of my days’ by sejeong.
‘photo of my mind’ by song ga in.
‘let us go’ by crush. (his tracks always get me)
‘give you my heart’ by iu.
now if you haven't watched it yet go get netflix and watch this one because it will not disappoint. and i will have to rewatch it eventually because it really was perfect. and i am sure there are many easter eggs that i missed.

“You cut the purple out of your hair! And you’re so tan!” Namjoon cooed, observing Zara through the laptop screen. Zara chuckled, looking at her own arms. They were indeed, far more tan than they had been two weeks beforehand, and she’d chopped the dead hair off her head days ago.
“That’s what happens when your parents move to Hawaii and decide to live by the beach instead of on-base.”
Namjoon’s lips split into a grin.
“We miss you,” he said.
Zara’s own lips turned up at the corners. “I miss you, too.”
They chatted for another hour, before Namjoon went quiet, biting his lip. Zara’s eyebrow rose, along with her anxiety.
“What?”
“Do you remember that video Jin-hyung posted to his youtube channel for the project? Of the singing?”
“Yeah?”
“Mr. Lee sent that clip around to an old friend who founded an Entertainment company called BigHit. We didn’t tell you because we didn’t think it would go anywhere, but...”
Zara’s eyebrows had completely disappeared into her hairline.
“But?”
“But he called Mr. Lee back and said he wanted to sign us to BigHit. As an Idol group.”
Namjoon watched the emotions pass over Zara’s face, and was more relieved than he’d like to admit when she settled on amusement and burst out laughing.
“Congratulations, but now I’m going to have to fight off a bunch of thirsty teens that want to sink their teeth into my Soulmates! And Yoongi? An Idol? Jesus, fuck.”
An indignant, “I heard that!” came from the background, and that sent Zara into another fit of laughter.
“BangPD-nim wants to have a meeting with you when you get home, Zara-ssi,” Namjoon said, which quelled Zara’s laughter. “About the Soulmate thing. Jin-hyung’s videos have all been made private already.”
“Ah,” Zara understood now, their hesitance to tell her their news earlier. Idols and boy bands, typically, ‘weren’t allowed,’ to have Soulmates, and if they did, than that Soulmate needed to remain hidden from the public. It wasn’t a very fair rule, and it was a rule that tended to put a lot of stress on relationships, but it was a rule that was intended to keep Soulmates safe.
In the case of Zara and the Seven, there was a bit of a wrench in that plan because of Jin’s YouTube project, which clearly pointed towards Zara being not just the Soulmate of Jin, but all of them. It made sense that their new manager would want to have a meeting with her to figure out what to do.
“Okay,” Zara agreed easily. “So tell me about this new boy band I’m going to have to listen to.”
Namjoon gave Zara a relieved smile and leaned forward.
“So, they’re calling us Bangtan Sonyeodan, BTS for short, and it means...”
xXx
Zara received a flurry of text messages the second she stepped off the airplane in Seoul. Mostly from Yoongi, who, in an All-Caps-Rage was telling her that the choreographers wouldn’t let them go from practice long enough to pick her up.
Zara snorted. Leave it to Yoongi to completely fly off the wall about something as trivial as picking her up from the airport. She’d already known before taking off in Honolulu that her Soulmates wouldn’t actually be there to pick her up from the airport, since Namjoon had been told the day before about the intense choreography lesson, and had told Zara about it. While it meant she didn’t get to see the boys right away, Zara wasn’t too upset by it. BigHit had even been kind enough to send her a ride.
The driver that had been sent, Gunwoo, was a perfect gentleman, putting Zara’s bags in the trunk and chatting with her as they drove. He asked her about school, she told him she wasn’t sure how much longer she’d actually go to school if the boys weren’t going anymore.
“Becoming a citizen won’t be a problem if your boys make it big,” Gunwoo said. Zara smiled.
“Ah, it won’t really be too difficult anyway. I’ve lived here for so long already.”
Gunwoo nodded his head, smiling slightly.
“Now, don’t be nervous about meeting BangPD,” he encouraged as they pulled into the underground parking structure. “He looks tough, but his bark is worse than his bite.”
Zara quirked an eyebrow, smirking. “Oh, I’m not worried about that, either.”
Gunwoo smiled back at her in the rear view mirror, pulling into a spot and letting Zara out. He led her through the building, stopping at the service desk to get Zara an access pass to get in, in the future. Then he brought her up to the top floor of the building, stopping at a door that read “Bang Si Hyuk,” on the nameplate.
“Just come back down to the lobby when you’re done, and I’ll take you anywhere you want to go.
And with those parting words, Gunwoo retreated.
Zara took a deep breath, turned to the door and knocked.
xXx
The silence had stretched on for nearly 20 minutes already, neither Bang Si Hyuk nor Zara willing to start the conversation or to break the staring contest.
Zara, confident despite her less than professional wardrobe of a gray hoodie and black leggings, had her ankle hooked on her knee and an arm propped on the back of the chair she sat on.
BangPD mirrored the posture opposite her, his white dress shirt crisp under his black blazer and tie.
This was a battle of Wills, and both were determined to win. They both knew what he wanted to ask her, but he wanted her to bring it up.
Zara glanced at her watch before raising one eyebrow, tilting her head and lacing her fingers together. BangPD shifted in his seat.
Intimidating men didn’t scare Zara. She could do this all day.
Finally, after another 10 minutes, BangPD cleared his throat.
“Underwood Zara-ssi, I’m aware of your unique situation with Bangtan Sonyeodan, however, those of us at BigHit think it would be beneficial for you to hide that connection from the public eye and separate yourself from the Boys as much as possible.”
“Mm,” Zara straightened her head again, but didn’t move from her lax position. “Hard no. Both of us know Yoongi’s little temper tantrum was a case of Soulmate Separation Syndrome. How is Tae doing? Behaving himself? How about Jungkook?” BangPD shifted in his seat again, but didn’t reply. “It’s been weeks since they’ve seen me, I’m sure they’re absolute joys the be around, all Seven of them.”
More silence. Zara smirked.
“Would you like to try again?”
He sighed. “It would still be best if your relationship with the boys was kept a secret, for everyone’s safety, but we could hire you on as staff in order to keep you close at hand. Kim Namjoon-ssi says you’re double majoring in Fine Arts and Psychology, and he said you have a knack for languages. That gives us a lot to work with; Makeup for music videos and concerts, counselling the Boys and staff, translating interviews if they make it big after their debut.”
“Keeps me busy, keeps me close.” Zara nodded. Power in the room had shifted to her, she was going to run with it. “Fine.”
BangPD relaxed back into his chair, sighing. He hadn’t told her this, of course he hadn’t, but whether or not the boys stayed on with the company depended on whether or not he and Zara came to an agreement. If she’d said she was out, all Seven of them would have walked out of the program.
“Understand, Zara-ssi, that cover stories only work for so long. Eventually fans will figure out the truth, and when they do, a whole lot of hate will be coming your way.”
“Bang Si Hyuk-ssi, I grew up surrounded by Soldiers and Drill Instructors. I can handle a lot.”
“Ah, Zara-ssi, I hope that’s true in the end.”
xXx
At first, the boys didn’t notice her standing at the door to the dorm that the Seven of them had been sharing, all of them sprawled out, resting or asleep, exhausted from training. From where she stood, she could see that it was a cramped space, barely large enough for two people to live comfortably, let alone Seven. She could see the kitchen, dining room and living room area easily from where she stood, and everything about it shouted disorganized chaos. Jin was probably losing his damn mind.
Still though, there were accents of her in the space already, despite having never been in the dorm. A few pairs of her shoes on the shoe rack, some of her blankets on the small couch, her winter jacket on a hook by the door. They even had a coconut scented candle burning, which made her smile.
When she had, had enough of just looking, she waved her second key card of the day through the air.
“They should be more careful who they hand these out to,” she said, and Jungkook’s head jerked up from the back of the couch, “some horny chick from Hawaii could walk in at any moment.”
Jungkook practically tripped over the half asleep Yoongi to get to Zara.
“Noona!” he dropped to his knees when he reached her and pressed his face into her stomach, arms wrapped around her legs.
“Kookie,” her hands found purchase in his hair, only prompting him to tug her closer.
Jimin was next, Jungkook’s body the only thing stopping him from plowing Zara over as he rushed to get his lips on hers.
“Noona,” he murmured, kissing her repeatedly. Then the rest reached them, and suddenly Zara was at the bottom of a dogpile.
“Fuck,” Yoongi’s voice was rough from sleep as he spoke directly into her ear as Namjoon kissed her next. “Fuck, I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too,” Zara grabbed his hair and yanked him into a kiss as well. She felt Hoseok maneuver himself between her thighs.
Taehyung tore Zara’s t-shirt over her head, planting his lips on her collarbone.
For the next several moments, there were hands and lips everywhere as they all recovered from the Separation Syndrome.
Afterwards, Zara cuddled into Jin’s chest, and the rest of her Soulmates found some way to snuggle into her. She was gently scratching her nails over Yoongi’s scalp, almost making him purr.
“As absolutely fucking glorious as this is, we should probably talk shop,” Zara said. She felt Jungkook nod against her right thigh.
“We’re not dropping out of University yet,” he said, attempting to snuggle even closer. “But they wanted us to stick together so they moved us into this dorm. There’s lots of bunk beds in one of the bedrooms, but we left the other bedroom open for you.”
“For me?”
“Mmm,” Taehyung replied against her stomach. “We kind of wanted you to stay with us, if you wanted to. If not all the time, than maybe just every once in a while?”
Zara’s eyes flashed again over the small, cramped space, to her stuff scattered around the dorm. They had wanted her with them so badly while she was gone that they had filled their home with things that reminded them of her, possibly at the risk of not having enough room for themselves.
“What about Ji-yoo?” Zara asked, “Did anyone see if she was okay with you guys stealing her roommate?”
“I did,” Hoseok grinned at her, “she said if you didn’t text her and tell her about all the wild sex we have alone in this dorm than she was going to hunt you down and strangle you.”
Zara’s lips tilted into a smirk.
“That's approval,” she said. “Okay, I’ll move in with you. Now let’s see about making some space in here.”

Heartbreaker (2)
“I can’t,” you sighed as you put some distance between the two of you. The familiar pain in your chest had your hand pressing against it. “This whole situation is stressing me out and it’s not good for Dami.” The doctor had warned you about stress, it would cause your blood pressure to go up and once again endanger your unborn daughter.
“Dami, it’s a girl?” Dean’s eyes went to your swollen belly. In no way was he upset that you had already named the baby. In fact, he was overjoyed and smiled at the thought of having a beautiful baby girl.
You nodded, the smile on his face relieved the pain a little. For a moment you felt your heart lighten as your lips curved up, matching his. Talking about your baby seemed to lift your spirit and take the worries of the world away. “Do you want to see a picture? Well not really a picture...” you trailed off digging through your bag to look for your latest sonogram that you had been carrying around for weeks now. Every time you swore you would take it out but kept forgetting.
When Dean saw it he was overwhelmed by emotions but what he was focused on was the urge he had to hold you and protect you so that nothing would happen to the two most important people in his life. “Please Y/N let me be there for you.” Dean just couldn’t let you leave like this. “I don’t want it to be over,” he wrapped his arms around you tightly in a desperate attempt to make you stay.
The familiar pain in your chest was back. It was hard to hold back, to restrain yourself from giving in and holding him just as tightly. Your internal battle only stressed you out. The doctor had warned you about stress, it would cause your blood pressure to go up and once again endanger your unborn daughter.
That’s why you pulled away.
Dean’s heart sank this felt like a rejection. Right now he couldn’t handle that. He wanted, no needed to be with you and his baby girl. “Y/N please-”
You shook your head, “She’s your daughter too so you can be there for her.”
He knew that was your nice way of rejecting him. His gaze lowered, unable to look you in the eye as his heart took another hit. He only looked up when you took his hand in yours. “Here look,” you placed his hand on your stomach, “she’s kicking.”
Dean’s eyes widened at the contact. He couldn’t believe what he was experiencing. It was beyond words.
“We can’t hurt her like we hurt each other Hyuk.” This was not the ideal situation for either of you but you were dedicated to making the best of it. “I wish it would have worked between us but I think we were better friends than lovers.”
Dean shook his head in denial. “I love you more than just a friend.”
“Me too,” you smiled. Another brief series of kicks ensued but this time Dean didn’t smile. “Smile for her... that’s what I do.” After the baby stopped moving you felt awkward and let go of his hand. You knew it was time to go before you regretted it and ran into his arms. “You can keep the sonogram.”
“Thanks” he would make sure to cherish it. As it seemed Dami was going to be the only thing that connected him to you from now on.
Months Later
At two in the morning, like clockwork, you were woken up by the cries of your newborn baby girl. You sat up in bed rubbing the sleep out of your eyes so you could attend to the hungry baby. Taking only a few steps to the corner of your bedroom to her crib was so convenient. “Shh... I’m here” you whispered as you picked her up and proceeded to feed her. Your top was long gone, only two hours ago you had gone through the same process. After a couple months of motherhood, you learned clothes were a hassle. You opted to sleep in a bra and sweatpants while your hair was always tied up to keep it out of your daughter’s face.
After feeding and burping her you ran out into the living room remembering you had left your cell phone on the couch. When you retrieved it there was a bunch of missed calls from Dean and a text.
Dean: Can I see Dami?
You figured he had been working late and wanted to pass by to kiss Dami goodnight like he had become accustomed to. You didn’t want him to think you ignored his message so you replied to him even though it was late.
You: Sorry I didn’t see this until now. You know you can see her whenever you want.
You exhaled loudly as you sent the text to him. Despite all that you had gone through with Dean he was still so caring and kind towards you that you couldn’t help but be the same with him. He had a key to your apartment and your permission to stop by whenever he wanted yet he always asked.
Sitting back you looked around at your messy apartment. There just weren’t enough hours in a day for you to get around to doing everything. Your schedule pretty much revolved around your newborn and she required most of your attention. Motherhood was really kicking you in the ass, you thought you could do the whole single mother thing at first. Now you found yourself constantly wishing Dean would drop by.
The days he would visit felt like pure bliss. He was always more than happy to help you. It didn’t matter what it was; changing, feeding, burping, bathing, cleaning. He did it all with a smile on his face; that smile always reenergized you.
Dean had his reservations about stopping by so late but if you replied he figured you would be awake. When he found you fast asleep on the couch he couldn’t help but go over and cover you with a blanket. Your mouth hung open as you slept, indicating how exhausted you were.
When he heard Dami cry he raced to her crib wanting to stop her crying before she managed to wake you up. “Hey baby girl,“ his soft soothing voice silenced her almost immediately.
It wasn’ until minutes later that you suddenly woke up. Looking around you saw you had fallen asleep with a burping cloth on your shoulder and one of your daughter’s soft pink blankets covering you.
Dean stepped out to the living room with Dami in his arms, “you’re awake.”
“Oh my god, did she cry?” you asked realizing you had completely knocked out. You had managed to sleep through Dean’s arrival and your daughter’s cries. You involuntarily yawned, “What time is it?”
“It’s four-”
“What? Then Dami has to be fed.” You went over to him to take a look at her. You expected to hear her cry soon but by the looks of it, she was fast asleep.
“I changed her and she fell back asleep just now.” He looked away as you got closer and cleared his throat. “I thought you would say something because I came so late or early.” He wasn’t too sure what to call it right now.
You noticed how he looked away as if he were troubled. “Something wrong?”
He turned to look at you but looked away almost instantly. “You're not wearing a shirt.” He was a guy after all and in love with you. Of course he was bothered to see you topless.
You were embarrassed that he had to tell you that. You just didn’t know where your mind was, you couldn’t think straight and didn’t even realize you were standing topless in front of him. “Sorry,” you ran to your room and came back out looking a bit more decent. “It’s usually just me and Dami so I forget.”
“I know that’s what you said last time.” Yeah, it wasn’t the first time this happened. Many times Dean had come over to find you like this. That’s why he usually texted you to let you know he was coming.
“Did we already have this conversation?” you laughed shyly.
He responded with laughter of his own. “Yeah but last time I think you yelled at me and said this was your house so you could do what you wanted.”
“Did I?” You weren’t really surprised, you were still pretty hormonal. “Sounds like me, I cried yesterday when Dami hiccuped because I thought it was so cute.”
“Really?”
You nodded, “it’s a good thing you’re not around to see all my mood swings.”
“I would like to be.”
You became silent. Until now Dean hadn’t mentioned anything about your relationship just like you had asked him to. You almost thought he had given up on you. “Hyuk do you still-”
“Yes,” he always thought about being with you. His love for you could never go away, it only kept growing with every day. “I didn’t say anything because you said you couldn’t handle the stress but you already look stressed so I’m going to say it. I still love you.”
Zico was right; Dean did fall in love too easily. You exhaled loudly giving in. “I am tired and stressed...” you admitted. When Dean was around your stress was gone. When he was around you managed to sleep better, shower, clean, and rest in general. “...I thought I could do this alone but being a single mother is far more difficult than I imagined.”
Dean immediately responded, “You don’t have to do it alone.” He looked at the beautiful little girl in his arms. She was the glue that held you both together. Thanks to her he was able to continue being in your life. Overcome by emotion he kissed the tender soft skin of her cheek. He wanted to be a good father to her. Dami deserved the world, his little girl deserved to have everything... including a family.
“I never stopped loving you Hyuk but that doesn’t mean we should be together.” He was a great help and a great father. It always tugged at your heartstrings to see him interact with Dami. The way his eyes lit up in her presence was a stark contrast to the pain they held when he looked at you. He said he loved you but the thought of him leaving always crossed your mind. Sometimes it felt like he was there out of guilt. “Sometimes the heart wants what it can’t have. Trust me. I loved you for a long time even before our first kiss.”
“Really, since when?” He had never asked you about it but now that you brought it up he indulged.
You smiled fondly at your memories. “Since I first met you.”
Dean’s heart skipped a beat at the thought of you crushing on him the entire time you had been friends. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“You were already in love with someone else.” From the very beginning, he was never meant to be yours. When the opportunity to take him for yourself presented itself you took it and perhaps that’s where it all began to go wrong.
Dami began stirring letting you know it was feeding time. Dean handed her over reluctantly allowing you to escape into the solitude of your bedroom but not before asking, “Do you really think we aren’t meant to be together?”
“Sometimes I do and other times I don’t,” you shrugged. Some good did come out of your relationship with Dami. It helped Dean realize who his friends were and who he could trust. It got you what you wanted most even if you were too afraid to accept it. Dean finally loved you and only you. If you could trust him again then perhaps there was a chance. “If I did then it would be like saying Dami was a mistake and she definitely isn’t. I love you Hyuk but hearts don’t mend easy. Maybe Dami is the one who can help fix us.”
A/N: I hope it was worth the wait.

Why Do You Like Him?
Helloo~ Can I have something super fluffy with Nam Joo Hyuk? Admin B, you gave me too many feels for him in the last one w/ him and I can't stop :( Thank you so so so much!!! 💗
YAY @wonholdmyheart !!!! Thank you for requesting my boyfriend! I will GLADLY do something super fluffy with him! (Although I’m not going to lie, this didn’t turn out as fluffy as I thought? Let me know if you want another scenario that’s ACTUALLY super fluffy!!!)
Genre: High School!AU/Fluff
Pairing: Nam Joo Hyuk x You
By Admin B
"Hey, you’re best friends with Jisoo, right?”
You clutched the straps of your backpack as you stood next to Joo Hyuk’s locker, biting your lip and awaiting his answer.
You and Joo Hyuk were certainly acquaintances (you had a few classes together), but you wouldn’t necessarily say you were friends.
...Yet.
“Yeah,” he replied, taking his physics textbook out of his locker and sliding it into his backpack. “Why?”
“Well... I was just wondering... He’s not dating anyone, is he?”
You’d had a crush on Jisoo for months now, and you decided today was the day you were finally going to kind of do something about it.
Joo Hyuk froze for just a second, but then he reached up to close his locker door, avoiding your gaze somewhat.
“No, he’s not,” he told you as he slung one strap of his backpack over his shoulder.
You rocked back and forth on your toes, barely able to hold back your excitement at his answer. “Do you think he’d be interested in me?”
Joo Hyuk quirked an eyebrow at you before starting to head to his next class, one he shared with you. So you simply followed him.
“Why are you asking me?”
“Because you’re his best friend! You know him well enough,” you explained. “I thought maybe... you could give me some inside information or something?”
Joo Hyuk stopped walking, abruptly enough so you almost ran into him.
You watched as he very obviously thought about your idea, but you couldn’t gauge his reaction. His expression didn’t seem to give anything away, so you just... waited. Anxiously.
He finally turned toward you and nodded. “Sure.”
A smile immediately came to your lips, and you had to physically stop yourself from squealing with excitement.
It took everything in your power to stop yourself from talking to him or writing him a note during class, but you were able to manage to wait until the end of the school day to start bugging him.
“I have basketball practice with him in half an hour,” he told you as you stood at his locker. “I’ll talk to him and see what he says.”
“You won’t bring up my name, will you?” you asked nervously, brow furrowed.
“Not if you don’t want me to,” Joo Hyuk shrugged.
You nodded and let out a little sigh of relief. But then you realized you didn’t want to wait until tomorrow to hear what Jisoo had said, so you got out your phone. “Here, give me your number so I can text you later.”
Joo Hyuk quietly told you the ten digits, leaning in just a bit so anyone passing by wouldn’t hear. “Send me a message so I have yours, too,” he murmured once you’d made his contact.
You hummed in response before typing out a ‘hey it’s me’ with a smiley face emoji and sending it to him.
“All right, I’ll let you know how it goes,” he assured you with a little smile as he closed his locker.
“Thank you,” you replied, unable to keep yourself from clapping your hands softly with excitement. “Have fun at practice.”
“Thanks,” he chuckled. “See you tomorrow.”
You started on your homework almost immediately after arriving home, wanting to get as much done as possible before Joo Hyuk messaged you about his mission.
Your heart was racing the whole time you were reading Beowulf, but not because the book was exciting. (It sucked, actually.) You kept glancing at your phone as you completed your physics review for your test on Friday. And then finally, just as you were about to finish your last statistics problem, your phone lit up with a notification.
You grabbed it in a flash, opening the message from Joo Hyuk and reading it. Apparently, Jisoo was most attracted to athletes. But he also knew who you were.
...Well, great. You were far from an athlete.
Wait, hold on.
You pressed the ‘call’ button next to Joo Hyuk’s name, bringing your phone up to your ear.
“Did you say he knows who I am?” you asked, confused.
“Yes.”
“I thought you weren’t going to bring up my name!”
“I didn’t! He saw us talking and just asked about it.”
“Wait, he asked about me? For real?”
“I mean, kind of...”
Your heart started hammering inside your chest, and you couldn’t for the life of you stop a smile from springing to your lips. Okay, this was good. Even though you weren’t an athlete, he still knew who you were. And he asked about you.
You were still too shy and nervous to talk to him, though, so you begged Joo Hyuk to keep giving you information and dropping hints to Jisoo.
The next three weeks were like a fun, but very nerve-wracking game of chess. For you, at least. You strategized your moves - Joo Hyuk’s moves, actually - and you waited with bated breath for what Jisoo would say or do.
You were gradually gathering up the nerve to talk to him, and one Friday, you decided you would do it. There was a basketball game that evening, and you planned to go. You wanted to support your new good friend, Joo Hyuk, of course, but you also were going to find Jisoo after the game and talk to him.
As you took your spot in the bleachers just after the game had started, your eyes scanned the court for Jisoo. You happened to find Joo Hyuk first, though, and he was already looking at you. He smiled and waved, and you wiggled your fingers excitedly back at him. You really did owe him so much; he’d helped you learn more about Jisoo the past few weeks, but he’d also become a really good friend. He made you laugh, and he was probably one of the sweetest guys you’d ever met.
But then you spotted Jisoo, and your heartbeat sped up.
You completely missed the look of disappointment on Joo Hyuk’s face when he noticed.
Even though you had no knowledge of basketball whatsoever, you still found the game exciting, and you had a little too much fun cheering on your friend and your crush. (Plus, Jisoo looked so good in those shorts, oh my god.)
As the timer counted down the minutes, you got more and more anxious. Your heartbeat got quicker by the second, and the butterflies in your stomach grew increasingly larger.
Then when the buzzer sounded, you let out a deep breath.
This was it.
You watched as the team celebrated their win, and you began to slowly make your way toward the parking lot. Joo Hyuk had told you earlier he would make sure Jisoo came out that way, so that’s where you planned to “run into him” and introduce yourself.
You paced back and forth once you got outside, taking deep breaths to calm your nerves. But when the doors opened and some of the players started filing out, you honestly felt like you might throw up. Why was talking to a guy so nerve-wracking?!
You bit your lip when you saw Jisoo exit through the door, and you took a deep breath as you began to step toward him.
But then a hand came to rest on your elbow, stopping you from going any farther.
You jumped a little, startled by the sudden touch, and you turned to see Joo Hyuk.
“Hey,” you said a bit hurriedly. “I was just about to --”
“Why do you like him?” he blurted out.
“...What?”
“I mean, I’m not saying he’s a bad guy, obviously. He’s my best friend. But... Why do you like him?”
You stared at him, extremely befuddled. “Uh... He’s really cute? And funny?”
“...Am I not cute and funny?”
You jerked your head back in surprise, now even more confused. “Well, yeah, but --”
“Then why don’t you like me?”
You just stared at him as he gazed at you, his eyes wide and his eyebrows raised expectantly.
“Like... you? I do like you, you’re my friend --”
“Not like that,” he shook his head. “I like you, okay? I’ve liked you since before you asked me about Jisoo. And I know I should’ve told you earlier. Or maybe I shouldn’t even be telling you at all, but I just...”
He shrugged, finally letting go of your elbow.
“Are you serious?” you asked, now a bit breathless.
He only nodded.
Your gaze flitted over to Jisoo’s retreating form then back to Joo Hyuk. Wait, why was your heart fluttering? Was it because you’d just looked at Jisoo... or because you were now looking at Joo Hyuk?
And suddenly you felt like a horrible person for making Joo Hyuk be your middle man. All this time, he’d been talking to Jisoo for you when he himself had a crush on you.
Your brow furrowed and you pressed your lips together to hide your frown. “I’m so sorry,” you murmured.
Joo Hyuk’s expression immediately fell. “It’s okay -- I didn’t expect you to --”
“No, not that,” you interrupted, taking a step closer to him. “I’m sorry I made you talk to him for me. That... must have sucked.”
“I mean... yeah.”
You weren’t sure why but you had the strongest urge to hug him right now. So you did. You took the few steps toward him to close the gap between you two, sliding your arms around his middle and hugging him tightly.
You felt Joo Hyuk’s hesitation, but he eventually hugged you back.
You smiled to yourself, your heart fluttering and racing like crazy. And those butterflies you’d had earlier? You realized they’d never left. Maybe... it hadn’t been Jisoo who gave you butterflies all this time?
You weren’t sure, but what you were sure about was Joo Hyuk was a beautiful person inside and out. And hugging him right now made you feel happier and lovelier and safer than anything else in the world.
Your mom had always told you the best relationships grew from friendships, and now... you were starting to think maybe she was right.

Pinky Promise || Mark
Group/Member: Nct Mark
Genre: angst fluff??
Word Count: 2 K
Request: Could you write a mark angst fluff ? :) about him kind of leaving a childhood friend to pursue his dreams and then reconnecting later on in life but her being salty at him bc she RLLY liked him but a happy ending !
A/n: sorry if this is crap I wanted to update so bad for everyone!! And also I flipping love Mark
"Hey Y/n this company is coming to our area and I've been thinking" he trailing off his eyes meeting yours "might try out apply," Mark said. You raised an eyebrow putting your food down "A company what kind" you asked. Mark sighed smiling "an entertainment company in Korea," he said.
You laughed a little almost amazed "you auditioning." Mark frowned a bit "I really think I can do this," he explained. You nodded in understanding "I believe in you but don't forget about the little people like me when you become famous kay," you said raising your pinky finger.
Mark gave you a cute smile his cheeks slightly red he hooked his finger longer one into yours. "You're my best friend how can I forget" he laughed a little. His large eyes roamed across your "I promise," Mark agreed a large gentle smile on his face.
That was years ago when you made that promise. Mark Lee that damn boy broke his promise. You understood he was busy he was following his dreams. The restrictions of an idol probably caused him, to break the promise. That didn;t make it hurt less. You knew the fans 'loved' Mark. But you loved him as well but on a personal level.
You missed his awkward laugh, his church Sundays where he would wear his cute Sunday suit. You missed his gentle eyes, and those free skate nights and you would go as kids. Your feels for Mark hasn't lessened you still loved him dearly. Also, the distance and abandonment made you strongly dislike his choice.
It was Marks choice to leave. It was his choice to abandon you. Now he was minutes away from you coming to see you.
You sighed blinking at the drink in your had conversation a few minutes ago.
Unknown: Hello is this Y/n
You: Yes...
Unknown: I knew it your mom contacted me about your trip to Korea :)
At that point, you were weirded out. Why would your mom tell a random person about your trip? The trip to Korea wasn't anything special you just wanted to see what made it so hyped and special. It really was the vibe felt clean, the food was delicious and the music was good.
Everywhere you went you seen Mark. His face was on albums, dolls, his interview and music show was on the television in your hotel.
Unknown: It's me, Mark your best friend
At that, your heart stopped at that name. After that, you and Mark texted for awhile till he wanted to meet you. At first, you were very apprehensive. But Mark pushed till you agreed to meet him at a quiet coffee shop.
Suddenly someone blew in your ear, you jumped out your skin little looking over to see a wide smile. Mark looked different not extremely different he just matured, his hair was not brown it was a dyed blondish brown and short. He got taller his shoulders broad. His gentle puffy face was now handsome and sharp.
"Y/n," Mark said looking down at you, he seemed happy tto see you his face was beeming. You gave a weak smile back. "Hey, Markie Mark," you said his old nickname. Mark nodded "I brought my friend he really wanted to meet you and my schedule is tight so sorry if this was sudden."
Looking over to see a boy around Marks age behind him. "Ah Hello," he said in broken English. You giggled a little "I know Korean," you said speaking semi fluent. You learned it and became interested in it when you met Mark.
"Is it Haechan?" you said. Even though Mark left you you followed his career when you had time. Making sure he was okay what he was doing if his company was treating him right.
"Donghyuk is his real name," Mark explained taking a seat across from you. Donghyuk took the other seat. "Um so," you began.
"I see you're pretty famous now," you said looking at the plastic cup. Admitting that was the first step right? Mark grinned "Yeah but see I didn't forget about you," he gave a cheeky smile.
"Sure," you said not accepting his answer because he did forget. If he didn't he would at least try to contact you in some way. A message from his mother would be better than a complete blackout from your friend.
Donghyuk broke the awkward tension "Well how long will you be in Korea Y/n we begged our manager to use this free day out" he explained.
"Um a week or so I don't know why my mother would even choose to alert Mark of my arrival," you said your words wanting to hurt him like he did you.
Mark shifted but he stilled held that adorable smile on his face. He's so positive. "Great there is some great historical sites around Seoul" Donghyuk explained.
And before you knew it they jetted you off to as many historical sites they knew. It was quiet for most of the trip to each one. You were still very apprehensive of this whole tour around Korea thing.
"Look Y/n isn't it pretty," Mark said pointing at the new blooms of flowers. In fact, they were pretty but you gave a dull answer "I guess" you said back.
When he tried to reminisce about the past you brush him off. "Remeber Y/n when we both tried out for the school play and I vomited out of fear" he laughed. Donghyuk laughed as well at the story as you replied with "I can't recall" you said.
Donghyuk was nice though he was funny and the way he talked and was around Mark you could tell they were very close.
You didn't want to act this way but so many pent up emotions were inside. Abandonment, strong love/hate with him, and maybe a bit of jealousy.
They dragged you along all these places till you guys arrived at another historical house.
You sighed looking at the large river with a huge historical building across it. "Hey Y/n," Songhyuk said he gripped you cheek muscle. "What are you doing," you asked looking up to see a phone raised up ready to snap a picture.
"Cheese," Mark said wrapping his arm around you and giving a peace sign at the camera. In that moment you felt silly. In a good way. With Mark arm around you, it was like back then. Not caring what people thought. Just you and your friend and childhood crush.
"That looked awesome," Mark said. "I'm sending that to the group chat," he commented. You raised an eyebrow, "um the Nct group chat," Donghyuk added.
You sighed Mark kept staying positive it was like he knew you were slightly (highkey) salty about his leave. But he just wanted to enjoy his time with you. He was a better person than you could ever be. An innocent, loving guy named Mark Lee.
Maybe it wasn't because of him leaving maybe it was regret. You held secret affection for Mark but before you could tell him he was already accepted and on a plane to Korea before you could confess your love.
Those feelings still harbored even to this day. The day was drawing to a close you enjoyed it but knew your attitude wasn't the best.
"Hey, Mark can you please get us ice cream," Donghyuk begged. Mark raised an eyebrow then looked at you "Would you like some Y/n" Mark asked. You sighed "yeah I guess," you said smiling at little ice cream did make you feel all good inside.
Mark face lit up at your smile "You're lucky Hyuk" Mark said. You watched Mark search for an ice cream cart. You watched him leave and admire his looks once again.
"Hey Y/n," Donghyuk said you looked over at the teen. "Yeah," you said. He smiled his head shaking a bit. "You know when the first time I heard about you this mysterious best friend Mark had," he said. You shrugged "probably yesterday" you answered back.
He shook his head "Wrong" he said making an x mark with his arms. "I met Mark when we were barely teens and all he could talk about was home," he said. You nodded understanding the culture difference Mark had to overcome.
"He told me about his family, his school, and you" he added. You chuckled "yeah right."
Donghyuk glanced at you "he did he told all about you guys that you were practically attached to the hip before he left" he smiled. "I remember Mark talking about you with this look in his eyes of amazement and happiness it was like us getting through evaluations 20 times over."
You smiled knowing that look. His smile would widen, his ears would perk up slightly and his nose would scrunch. Marks really happy look.
"Great Mark missed me so what he still was M.I.A for almost 3 years" you added. Donghyuk nodded "yeah they take away our phones, we can't use emails or social media and especially contacting girls" he added “so please Y/n" Donghyuk paused. You looked over at his dark brown pleading eyes.
"Mark has missed you so much he constantly talks about you and I hear you’re a wonderful person your full of life and beauty" he paused again "and Mark works his butt off for this career every day he wakes up at 5 in the morning dancing, going to school, music program" Donghyuk explained.
The feeling of your stomach twisting made you want to dry heave a little. You never knew he worked this hard.
"We're lucky to have today but tomorrow isn't promised," he said. You spoke up "I didn't know it was like that," you said feeling rather selfish and stupid. You're anger clouding that you just got to spend a day with the most amazing boy named Mark Lee. And another amazing hard worker name Donghyuk.
"Hey, guys why are you looking so serious," Mark said. Donghyuk smiled “oh nothing I was telling her about the time you cried at the first win.” Mark sighed and shook his head “well that’s embarrassing,” he mumbled.
You turned around to see Mark holding three small cups of ice cream. "I went through this whole complex and they only had this kind so sorry," he said passing it to you and Donghyuk.
Staring at the ice cream it was your favorite. A chocolate scoop with a small dash of sprinkles on it.
"This is my favorite kind" you gave a weak smile. Mark nodded and rubbed his neck "Of course I always remembered," he said.
You looked up at Mark. Oh, how he changed from a young boy to almost a man now. He grew into himself and his looks. His personality hasn't changed he was still the squishy Mark Lee you knew and loved.
"Thank you," you said looking at him with a smile wrapping your arms around him for a hug.
"Hello Mark," you said looking at the phone Mark was laying in bed his hair a mess and his face bare any makeup. "Hey Y/n" he yawned rather cutely.
"I'm just waking up" you commented closing your eyes slowly. Mark smiled "I'm going to sleep" he answered.
After seeing Mark in Korea and Donghyuk telling you that information you decided you wanted to reach out more to Mark. After you reached out more Mark took your hand in a semi relationship semi not. You both confessed but understood it's not a good time to keep a full relationship across an ocean or two. So you and Mark were in a weird place.
But Donghyuk fully supports you guys and calls you guys a couple.

- for @x-wearethefuture-x
Silence at the end of a phone; a constant ringing first, then the automatic message. ... This person cannot take your call right now, please leave a message... A tone and then silence.
Nayoung couldn’t think of the words to leave him. She’d left one message already - “Hey Hyuk, if you don’t pick up your goddamn phone in the next five minutes, I’m gonna show up outside your door. I’m not joking.” Only then, she had been. Five missed calls over the course of two hours isn’t anything much to worry about. People got busy. Hyuk had his own life, his own distractions and things that mattered. Nayoung understood that better than anyone. Hell, it wasn’t as though she called him every day. But whenever she did call, there would never be too long between the ringing and the sound of his voice. He’d call her back. He’d pick up with only a few seconds having passed, probably because he’d been looking at something when she called it it was already in his hands. And if neither of those occurred, it would be a text. Nayoung had read enough of his texts by now to hear his voice in them.
Nothing to worry about. Nayoung put her phone beside her, balanced on the slim edge of the piano. There was only so many times she could run through this piece before her examination on Friday. Soon she’d go mad but it was better than making up ridiculous stories about why those calls were going unanswered. Think sensibly. His phone died. But then it wouldn’t ring. He’s in the shower, can;t hear it. That would be one heck of a long shower.
Something was off. That she knew. Why else would she bee reacting like this, feet tapping against the pedals instead of pushing them to the floor, staring at the sheets of music and not even seeing the notes. It happened like this sometimes. She’d reach out to people to talk to them; living silver thread curling around them, creating a link that her voice could travel along. Sewon had once suggested that the connection she made when speaking to people went deeper than just telepathy. He’d said it was already proven; as the bond deepened between Nayoung and the person she was speaking to, it could bridge greater distances. Maybe, he’d ventured, the other person could use the same link in reverse. If they were aware of it.
This wasn’t a call for help. It wasn’t. Nayoung had to keep telling herself that, making something out of nothing. Even when the feeling wouldn’t relinquish, when the worry kept persisting. But god, if this wasn’t a sign that something was up...
She’d warned him already anyway. If nothing was wrong, then there was nothing wrong.
Nayoung had never been so thankful for the short distance between her university and where Hyuk stayed. Early morning rushes to make class after sleeping in felt inconsequential compared to this. Each floor in the elevator felt like a millimetre climbed when there was a mile left to go. Every step along the short corridor felt too hurried and yet it wasn’t fast enough. Nayoung tried a light tap on the door first, not expecting anything. No response. The doorbell garnered a similar fail. What was he doing in there? More to the point, was he even there at all? He could be somewhere else entirely, totally fine, not even thinking about Nayoung on his doorstep whilst she was here, her heart running just a little too fast to be considered normal-
Nayoung paused in her movements. Whilst knocking, her hand caught the handle, feeling it dip slightly. The door was unlocked. With more hesitancy than before, she pushed against the smooth wood and felt it give.
“Hyuk?” Nayoung called out into the emptiness. Empty. It really did seem empty. Usually, he’d greet her at the door but now... “Told you I’d turn up on your doorstep.” The laugh that followed was shaky, halfhearted. Where was he, where the hell was he...
It was then she heard it; muffled cries, what could have been names among them, broken up by sharp intakes of breath and gaps and- Nayoung followed the sound without even thinking to take off her shoes. She opened the door to the bathroom too fast, her hand slipping on the handle, nearly losing her balance. But she had to find something to cling to anyway when she saw him there.
Nayoung covered her mouth with her hands, a soft sound of shock catching in her throat at the sight of him. Hyuk, lying on the floor, his shirt tattered and spotted with blood, his feet scalded, his hair plastered to his forehead with sweat. God, he- he was- Nayoung crossed the room to him. Her hands shook. There was nowhere she could touch him without risking a touch to one of the wounds. How had he got them? There was so many, this couldn’t be self-inflicted. It couldn’t be. Without her consent, a choked sob caught Nayoung off guard. He looked terrified. His eyes were closed, his arms around himself like he was trying to claw his way out of his own skin... “Hyuk,” she said his name again, reaching out to him despite the risk of hurting him. She doubted her could feel her now, could barely even hear her wherever his mind was.
She remembered when he had first shown her what he could do. The beautiful creation he’d taken her through in his mind. Nayoung could still picture it in such detail. Exploring Hyuk’s mind, him guiding her in, had been surreal. Yet it felt real. Everything had been so vivid. And later, he had told her he could bring those things into reality. If he could create something that believable for her, then what did he create for himself? His own mind would need much less convincing. If dreams mixed with the realities that he could create, how could he ever distinguish between the two? How did he learn to escape himself?
Soon Nayoung was kneeling over him, one hand on his forearm, the other tenderly against the side of his face. She had to call him back. She had no clue how, but if he couldn’t... “Shit...” Nayoung screwed her eyes shut, a sharp laugh escaping her; another surprise. “Hyuk, I’m here. Please, come back. Come on, you have to come back. You can find a way, right? Oh, shit...” He was manifesting without even knowing it. He wouldn’t know she was here.
“Hyuk,” she repeated his name again, and again until she forgot how many times she’d said it. Her hair cascaded over her shoulders, falling over Hyuk’s as Nayoung leant closer to him, touching her forehead to his. He kept moving, his arms trying to escape her hold, moving under her like they were still trying to rip himself apart. She didn’t even notice when she stopped saying his name aloud. It faded away until she was only saying it in her head. Calling out to him. Reaching out to him.
If those threads could go both ways, maybe he could find a way out by taking hold of them.
Don’t be scared.
When she heard her own name back, she sat back like she’d been pushed away. It almost startled her. Stupid really, when that’s all she’d been waiting for. A reply. Her name was good enough.
She nodded once. Had her hands stopped shaking? She hid them under her sweater just in case they hadn’t. Hyuk was looking at her, looking to her. Don’t be sacred. She couldn;t be scared. Not even at the sight of him, battered and torn by his own mind. I’d take that all away if I could. I’d take whatever it was you saw and keep it all to stop this from happening again.
“Sanghyuk,” she said back, using his full name when his usual name began to sound unreal. “Hyuk, it’s alright. Whatever the hell that was...” She didn’t have an answer for it. There was nothing she could do. God, she felt useless. When he’d found her hiding her own scar, he’d healed her up as fast as he could. Self-inflicted or not.
Before she could think to do anything else, Hyuk was in her arms. Nayoung froze before wrapping her arms gently around him in response, carefully of his injuries. Was he... He was. Nayoung felt the hot tears on her shoulder as sobs wracked through Hyuk’s body. Lowering her head, she fought against the familiar sting in her eyes. She kissed the exposed part of his shoulder as she held him, waited for him as long as he needed. “You’re here now. Don’t be scared. Just... just keep focusing on me if it helps. I can keep talking...” That was a lie. She didn’t know how long her voice might hold out before it broke. “We need to clean you up. Sort out all these cuts... your feet-” Nayoung paused. She hadn’t seen them since she’d walked in. She pulled back, enough that Hyuk could still keep his arms around her., preparing herself for worse.
They were worse. The burns had crept up to is ankles, angry and red against his skin. How much power did it take to bring that into reality? Nayoung steadied her breath, turned back to Hyuk to meet his gaze. She lifted her hands to place them both against his neck, which had been spared the worst of the damage. “It’s not that bad,” she insisted, “Let me get something for them. And everything else... I’m not going anywhere until I know you’re okay.” She would stay all night. She would stay awake if she had to, just to wake him again if his dreams became just as bad. Nayoung cast her eyes around them room avoiding his eyes for the first time. Pretending to search for bandages or creams, band aids and antiseptic... If she had been here sooner, maybe she wouldn’t have had to search. Maybe she could have stopped this before he got hurt. An apology rose to her lips and she turned back to him, giving into only a wordless, painful attempt at a reassuring smile.
