I actually have very little explanation for Hersfuld as a ship other than that they are close and intertwined in their history. They would work just as well as annoying siblings and I think Moritz considered Simon a brother for a long time (the town of Bad Hersfeld got started as an offshoot abbey, founded by I think either Lullus or Sturmius, from Fulda, which was founded by Boniface Apostle of the Germans himself). I just think it is the "You've always been there, we've got a joking rivalry going on still and I still like a challenge" that makes them consider each other.
