John 11:1-16 KJV
1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

Romans 10:12-13
[12]For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
[13]for "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Romans 6:23
[23]For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 John 3:6-10
[6]No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
[7]Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
[8]the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
[9]No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
[10]By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
John 11:1-44
[1]Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
[2]It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
[3]So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."
[4]But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."
[5]Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
[6]So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.
[7]Then after this He said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."
[8]The disciples said to Him, "Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going there again?"
[9]Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
[10]But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."
[11]This He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep."
[12]The disciples then said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."
[13]Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep.
[14]So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead,
[15]and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him."
[16]Therefore Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, so that we may die with Him."
[17]So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
[18]Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off;
[19]and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.
[20]Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed at the house.
[21]Martha then said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
[22]Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."
[23]Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
[24]Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."
[25]Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
[26]and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"
[27]She said to Him, "Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world."
[28]When she had said this, she went away and called Mary her sister, saying secretly, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you."
[29]And when she heard it, she got up quickly and was coming to Him.
[30]Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met Him.
[31]Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and consoling her, when they saw that Mary got up quickly and went out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
[32]Therefore, when Mary came where Jesus was, she saw Him, and fell at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died."
[33]When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled,
[34]and said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see."
[35]Jesus wept.
[36]So the Jews were saying, "See how He loved him!"
[37]But some of them said, "Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have kept this man also from dying?"
[38]So Jesus, again being deeply moved within, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
[39]Jesus said, "Remove the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days."
[40]Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"
[41]So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes, and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
[42]I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me."
[43]When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth."
[44]The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

When does the Bible indicate that the tribulation will begin? [convertplayer id="nN2q2Yds4" width="700" height="525"] Consider the timeline in relation to II Peter 3:8: "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." Consider it is also in conjunction with Genesis Chapter 1 in which the creation of the world, the universe, and all that is in them, including mankind is described as being completed in six days. Notice that the first six days of creation were for man's benefit (Isaiah 45:18 says that the earth was formed to be inhabited), but the seventh day was for God - a day of rest. So, consider the following hypothesis: If 1,000 years is to God as a day, according to the timeline, we can see that man has just about used up his "six days" or 6,000 years (if our calendars are at all accurate). Are we about to enter into God's day - the "seventh day" or the final 1,000 years? We are seeing the signs of the times in the wars, earthquakes, famines, and pestilences we hear about on the news daily. Terms being used today such as "global economy," "global politics," and "new age" are all indicative of the fact that we are very close to the end of our age. The stage is being set for Daniel's 70th week (see Daniel 9). [convertplayer id="qor9Pv2cU" width="700" height="525"] John 9:16 "Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, `How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.'" Move on to Chapter 11. We've come through the blind man which was healed of blindness which he had since birth; sin is mentioned as well as with the impotent man; they were next to the pool which indicated a need for cleansing. Now to Lazarus and he's dead. John 11:17 "Then when Jesus came, he found that he (Lazarus) had lain in the grave four days already." What does I Peter say in regard to a day in God's mind? A thousand years is but a day, and a day is but a thousand years. So, picking up the analogy that we are dealing with the Nation of Israel just like the blind man who had been blind since birth, how long has the Nation of Israel literally been spiritually dead? 4000 years. That takes you back to Abraham at 2000 BC So, I think the four days of Lazarus' death is an indication that Israel, nationally, is spending 4000 years spiritually dead. But what will happen at the end of the 4000 years? She will be brought back to life. I realize this is a little bit backwards, but come back to verse 6; hopefully you are getting the picture. But here in verse 6, word came to Jesus that Lazarus was sick, and they knew that if Jesus would come that He could heal him. John 11:6 "When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he (purposely) abode two days still in the same place where he was." And then what will He do? He will go to where Lazarus is and raise him from the dead. Look at the Book of Hosea for a moment: Hosea 6:1,2 "COME, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up." The pronouns here are the Nation of Israel. "After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight." What are the two days? Well the two days since the Cross is how long? 2000 years. What's going to be the third thousand years? The Kingdom. See how beautifully this all fits. Now, back to Lazarus for a moment. He calls Lazarus forth. Does Lazarus contribute anything? Nothing. Remember he came out of the tomb. And that is the picture of Israel. One day they are going to be called back to life, nationally, and we will get to it in our next lesson.

Streams in the Desert
August 10 “When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.” (John 11:6.) IN the forefront of this marvelous chapter stands the affirmation, “Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus,” as if to teach us that at the very heart and foundation of all God’s dealings with us, however dark and mysterious they may be, we must dare to believe…

LAZARUS ATURDAY
by Archbishop Andrei (Rymarenko)
Tumblr media
“In the same way we cry to Thee, O Conqueror of death: Hosanna in the highest, blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord” (Troparion (hymn) sung on Lazarus Saturday).
Great is this Holy Day, brothers and sisters! Just think of it, “Conqueror of death”! There have been many conquerors in the history of humanity: many gifted doctors have conquered many sicknesses, many military leaders have conquered tremendous armies, even entire countries. There have been conquerors of space such as the inventors of automobiles, airplanes; conquerors of distance — the inventors of the telephone, telegraph, and so on. But “Conqueror of death” — the whole world does not know of anyone else but Jesus Christ. He alone. Even the so-called “unbelieving world” cannot mention another name. No one among the most prominent people would ever even attempt to make such a claim. But He is, was, and will be — our Savior and our Lord.
During His historical evangelistic life He proved this in three instances: the resurrection of the daughter of Jairus, the resurrection of the son of the widow of Nain, and here in today’s Gospel, the resurrection of Lazarus.
The death of the daughter of Jairus was a recent one. She died while Christ and her father were going to her. Even Christ called it slumber; but the people “laughed Him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And He put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise! And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and He commanded to give her meat” (Lk. 8:53-55).
In the case of the son of the widow of Nain, death, seemingly stronger, came into its own: the dead man had already been laid on the funeral bier. They had carried him not only from the house, but already through the city gates. In order to touch the bier, the Lord had to stop the carriers. And only then did He say, “Young man, I say unto thee, Arise! And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And He delivered him to his mother” (Lk. 7:14-15).
And now Lazarus. The victory of death here was final, one hundred percent. Lazarus had been in the tomb four days already. There was weeping, but no one had any hope of an instantaneous resurrection. Even one of the dead man’s sisters said to the Lord: “I know he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Even the Lord Himself, when He “saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, He groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,” and He wept. Finally He said, “Take ye away the stone.” Here, even the sister of the dead man could not contain herself and said to Him: “Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.” So the stone was removed from the tomb where the dead man was lying, and Christ cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth! And he that was dead came forth bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go” (Jn. 11:17-44).
Besides physical death, there is mental death. Physical death is visible to everyone, but mental death is usually not noticeable to people. It is felt only by the dead person himself. Bishop Theophan the Recluse said much about this. Sometimes it happens that a sinful thought darts into your mind and awakens a sinful feeling, but the soul catches itself and calls to the Lord in repentance. And the Lord, as with the daughter of Jairus, will as if stretch out His hand and say, “Soul, arise!” And life will return to its joyous flow. But sometimes it happens that we do not catch ourselves in time and sin enters more deeply into our soul (like going out from the house) and the result will be full acceptance of the sin, and turmoil. But also here, by the prayers of our Mother, the Church of Christ, who cries before the Lord for her children, we can be alerted; and the Lord will tell us as He did the son of the widow of Nain: “Soul, I say unto thee, Arise!” This is salvation.
But what shall we do if sin completely enslaves our soul, as if covering it with a tombstone; and so day after day goes by and passions start to exude their sinful stench, just as with Lazarus? What should we do then? Well, then we need confession, the sacrament which Christ established after His Resurrection, when He said to His disciples, “Receive ye the Holy Spirit: Whose so ever sins ye forgive, they are forgiven” (Jn. 20:22-23). See how all this is reflected in the resurrection of Lazarus. Lazarus, on his own, could not go out from the tomb because it was blocked by a stone. He couldn’t even walk, because he was bound hand and foot with funeral bandages. And here Christ said to His disciples, “Loose him.” In application to us, this means that the Lord orders our clergy, who have received in the Sacrament of the Priesthood the gift of the Holy Spirit, to loose our sins. What joy!
And more: death is not the cause but only the result, the consequence of sin. And Christ is, first of all, the Conqueror of sin, and then along with it, the Conqueror of death. So let us triumph: “Hosanna in the highest!”
The Priest Martyr Antipas (92)
Tumblr media
A disciple of the holy Apostle John the Theologian (Comm. 26 September), was bishop of the Church of Pergamum during the reign of the emperor Nero (54-68).      During these times by order of the emperor, everyone who would not offer sacrifice to the idols lived under threat of either exile or execution. And then too on the island of Patmos (in the Aegean Sea) was imprisoned the holy Apostle John the Theologian – he to whom the Lord revealed the future judgements of the world and of Holy Church.
"And to the Angel of the Pergamum Church write: thus sayeth He having the sword sharp of both edges: I do know thine deeds, and that thou dost live there, where doth be the throne of Satan, and that thou dost cleave unto My Name nor didst renounce My faith even in those days, in which My slain faithful witness Antipas was amongst ye, where Satan dwelleth" (Rev. 2: 12-13).
By his personal example, firm faith and constant preaching about Christ, Saint Antipas began to sway the people of Pergamum from offering sacrifice to idols. The pagan priests reproached the bishop for turning the people away from their ancestral gods, and they demanded that he stop preaching about Christ and instead offer sacrifice to the idols.      Saint Antipas calmly answered, that he was not about to serve the demon-gods, which flee before him who was but a mortal man; rather, it is the Lord Almighty that he worships and would continue to worship – the Creator of all, together with His Only‑Begotten and One-in-Essence Son and Holy Spirit. The pagan priests retorted, that their gods existed from of old, whereas Christ was not from of old and was crucified under Pontius Pilate as a criminal. The saint answered, that the pagan gods were the work of human hands and that everything said about them was filled with iniquities and vices. He steadfastly confessed his faith in the Son of God, incarnated of the MostHoly Virgin.      The enraged pagan priests dragged the PriestMartyr Antipas to the temple of Artemis and threw him into a red-hot copper bullock, wherein usually they cast the sacrifices to the idols. In the red-hot furnace the priest-martyr prayed loudly to God, imploring to accept his soul and to fortify Christians in the faith. He expired to the Lord peacefully, as though asleep (+ c. 68).      Christians by night took the body of the PriestMartyr Antipas, untouched by the fire, and with reverence they buried him at Pergamum. The tomb of the priest-martyr became a font of miracles and of healings from manifold sicknesses. Particular recourse to the PriestMartyr Antipas is made during times of tooth-ache.

John 11:1-45
1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick." 4 When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it." 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was. 7 Then after this He said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again." 8 The disciples said to Him, "Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?" 9 Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him. 11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up." 12 Then His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleeps he will get well." 13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him. 16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him." 17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. 19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21 Now Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You. 23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? 27 She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world." 28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, "The Teacher has come and is calling for you." 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him. 31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, "She is going to the tomb to weep there." 32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died." 33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. 34 And He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see."35 Jesus wept.36 Then the Jews said, "See how He loved him!" 37 And some of them said, "Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?" 38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days." 40 Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?" 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!"44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go."45Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.
Hebrews 12:28-13:8
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire.
1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. 3 Remember the prisoners as if chained with them-those who are mistreated-since you yourselves are in the body also. 4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." 6 So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" 7 Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

6   “Come, let us return to the LORD;     for he has torn us, that he may heal us;     he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. 2   After two days he will revive us;     on the third day he will raise us up,     that we may live before him. 3   Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD;     his going out is sure as the dawn;   he will come to us as the showers,     as the spring rains that water the earth.” 4   What shall I do with you, O Ephraim?     What shall I do with you, O Judah?   Your love is like a morning cloud,     like the dew that goes early away. 5   Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets;     I have slain them by the words of my mouth,     and my judgment goes forth as the light. 6   For I desire steadfast loveSeptuagint mercy‘>1 and not sacrifice,     the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. 7   But like Adam they transgressed the covenant;     there they dealt faithlessly with me. 8   Gilead is a city of evildoers,     tracked with blood. 9   As robbers lie in wait for a man,     so the priests band together;   they murder on the way to Shechem;     they commit villainy. 10   In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing;     Ephraim’s whoredom is there; Israel is defiled. 11   For you also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed.   When I restore the fortunes of my people, 7   when I would heal Israel,     the iniquity of Ephraim is revealed,     and the evil deeds of Samaria,   for they deal falsely;     the thief breaks in,     and the bandits raid outside. 2   But they do not consider     that I remember all their evil.   Now their deeds surround them;     they are before my face. 3   By their evil they make the king glad,     and the princes by their treachery. 4   They are all adulterers;     they are like a heated oven   whose baker ceases to stir the fire,     from the kneading of the dough     until it is leavened. 5   On the day of our king, the princes     became sick with the heat of wine;     he stretched out his hand with mockers. 6   For with hearts like an oven they approach their intrigue;     all night their anger smolders;     in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire. 7   All of them are hot as an oven,     and they devour their rulers.   All their kings have fallen,     and none of them calls upon me. 8   Ephraim mixes himself with the peoples;     Ephraim is a cake not turned. 9   Strangers devour his strength,     and he knows it not;   gray hairs are sprinkled upon him,     and he knows it not. 10   The pride of Israel testifies to his face;Or in his presence‘>2     yet they do not return to the LORD their God,     nor seek him, for all this. 11   Ephraim is like a dove,     silly and without sense,     calling to Egypt, going to Assyria. 12   As they go, I will spread over them my net;     I will bring them down like birds of the heavens;     I will discipline them according to the report made to their congregation. 13   Woe to them, for they have strayed from me!     Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against me!   I would redeem them,     but they speak lies against me. 14   They do not cry to me from the heart,     but they wail upon their beds;   for grain and wine they gash themselves;     they rebel against me. 15   Although I trained and strengthened their arms,     yet they devise evil against me. 16   They return, but not upward;Or to the Most High‘>3     they are like a treacherous bow;   their princes shall fall by the sword     because of the insolence of their tongue.   This shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
Israel Will Reap the Whirlwind
8   Set the trumpet to your lips!     One like a vulture is over the house of the LORD,   because they have transgressed my covenant     and rebelled against my law. 2   To me they cry,     “My God, we—Israel—know you.” 3   Israel has spurned the good;     the enemy shall pursue him. 4   They made kings, but not through me.     They set up princes, but I knew it not.   With their silver and gold they made idols     for their own destruction. 5   I haveHebrew He has‘>4 spurned your calf, O Samaria.     My anger burns against them.   How long will they be incapable of innocence? 6   For it is from Israel;   a craftsman made it;     it is not God.   The calf of Samaria     shall be broken to pieces.Or shall go up in flames‘>5 7   For they sow the wind,     and they shall reap the whirlwind.   The standing grain has no heads;     it shall yield no flour;   if it were to yield,     strangers would devour it. 8   Israel is swallowed up;     already they are among the nations     as a useless vessel. 9   For they have gone up to Assyria,     a wild donkey wandering alone;     Ephraim has hired lovers. 10   Though they hire allies among the nations,     I will soon gather them up.   And the king and princes shall soon writhe     because of the tribute. 11   Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning,     they have become to him altars for sinning. 12   Were I to write for him my laws by the ten thousands,     they would be regarded as a strange thing. 13   As for my sacrificial offerings,     they sacrifice meat and eat it,     but the LORD does not accept them.   Now he will remember their iniquity     and punish their sins;     they shall return to Egypt. 14   For Israel has forgotten his Maker     and built palaces,   and Judah has multiplied fortified cities;     so I will send a fire upon his cities,     and it shall devour her strongholds.
The Lord Will Punish Israel
9   Rejoice not, O Israel!     Exult not like the peoples;   for you have played the whore, forsaking your God.     You have loved a prostitute’s wages     on all threshing floors. 2   Threshing floor and wine vat shall not feed them,     and the new wine shall fail them. 3   They shall not remain in the land of the LORD,     but Ephraim shall return to Egypt,     and they shall eat unclean food in Assyria. 4   They shall not pour drink offerings of wine to the LORD,     and their sacrifices shall not please him.   It shall be like mourners’ bread to them;     all who eat of it shall be defiled;   for their bread shall be for their hunger only;     it shall not come to the house of the LORD. 5   What will you do on the day of the appointed festival,     and on the day of the feast of the LORD? 6   For behold, they are going away from destruction;     but Egypt shall gather them;     Memphis shall bury them.   Nettles shall possess their precious things of silver;     thorns shall be in their tents. 7   The days of punishment have come;     the days of recompense have come;     Israel shall know it.   The prophet is a fool;     the man of the spirit is mad,   because of your great iniquity     and great hatred. 8   The prophet is the watchman of Ephraim with my God;   yet a fowler’s snare is on all his ways,     and hatred in the house of his God. 9   They have deeply corrupted themselves     as in the days of Gibeah:   he will remember their iniquity;     he will punish their sins. 10   Like grapes in the wilderness,     I found Israel.   Like the first fruit on the fig tree     in its first season,     I saw your fathers.   But they came to Baal-peor     and consecrated themselves to the thing of shame,     and became detestable like the thing they loved. 11   Ephraim’s glory shall fly away like a bird—     no birth, no pregnancy, no conception! 12   Even if they bring up children,     I will bereave them till none is left.   Woe to them     when I depart from them! 13   Ephraim, as I have seen, was like a young palmOr like Tyre‘>6 planted in a meadow;     but Ephraim must lead his children out to slaughter.Hebrew to him who slaughters‘>7 14   Give them, O LORD—     what will you give?   Give them a miscarrying womb     and dry breasts. 15   Every evil of theirs is in Gilgal;     there I began to hate them.   Because of the wickedness of their deeds     I will drive them out of my house.   I will love them no more;     all their princes are rebels. 16   Ephraim is stricken;     their root is dried up;     they shall bear no fruit.   Even though they give birth,     I will put their beloved children to death. 17   My God will reject them     because they have not listened to him;     they shall be wanderers among the nations.

New Testament:
John 11:1–54
John 11:1–54 (Listen)
The Death of Lazarus
11 Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. 3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.” 4 But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when he heard that LazarusGreek he; also verse 17‘>1 was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. 7 Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” 8 The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?” 9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” 11 After saying these things, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.” 12 The disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” 13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep. 14 Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, 15 and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” 16 So Thomas, called the Twin,Greek Didymus‘>2 said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”
I Am the Resurrection and the Life
17 Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two milesGreek fifteen stadia; a stadion was about 607 feet or 185 meters‘>3 off, 19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. 20 So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. 21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Some manuscripts omit and the life‘>4 Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”
Jesus Weeps
28 When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29 And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply movedOr was indignant; also verse 38‘>5 in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”
Jesus Raises Lazarus
38 Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
The Plot to Kill Jesus
45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him, 46 but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. 47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council and said, “What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. 48 If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. 50 Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” 51 He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 So from that day on they made plans to put him to death.
54 Jesus therefore no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, and there he stayed with the disciples.

Thoughts When It's Too Late
Thoughts When It’s Too Late
“When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still.” John 11:6 Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. You would have expected him to hurry to Bethany. There is a love that tarries until we grumble: “If you had been here… this wouldn’t have happened.” Martha said, “I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” She believed in the doctrine of…

The Silence of God
Today’s Saying
God is a time-stopper, He is not subject to the laws of time, and so His answers are not always a Yes or a No, but sometimes His answer is Wait! It’s not yet time.
Today’s Scripture
Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. John 11:3-4
Today’s Sermonette
Have you ever wanted something so badly that you were not ready to hear a No or Wait for an answer?
Then l guess this phenomenon is farmiliar to mankind. I do not refute the assertion that we live in a more degenerate society, but l just will not support the notion that such things happen in Christendom, then perharps Mary and Martha's time was quite painful.
They had a real problem, Lazarus their only brother was sick unto death and the best Jesus could do was to be in a hurry to help.
As a matter of fact, this family had contributed a lot to the ministry of Jesus. Anytime Jesus and His team visited Bethany on ministry assignments, this family gave Jesus and His disciples a place to lodge in their home and made sure food and water was available to them and their camel.
The Bible suggest that Martha cumbered herself with cooking and even complained to Jesus that Mary was not helping in the kitchen but listening to the words of Jesus.
It was this same Mary who had anointed Jesus' feet with an ointment worth a years wage.
No wonder Bible scholars have refered to this family as the ''BELOVED TRIO'' because it was the only family in the Bible Jesus expressed love
('phileo'- conditional love based on what someone has done for you) for all three.
As rich the family was, they could have hired the services of a physician but their faith was in their friend Jesus. And even though there were nothing like mobile phones in their time, the sister still made sure Jesus heard that the one he ''loved" is sick.
And so the best Jesus should have done when he heard that his friend Lazarus was sick unto death, was to leave everything He was doing and rush to his friend's house and heal him.
However, Jesus did not come, neither did He send any of His disciples to assure the sisters that everything will be alright.
With time His condition grew worse and he died. The sisters lost their only brother, Jesus who was always around when food was available didn't even bother to send a delegation to the funeral of somebody He claimed to love. He was totally silent.
One of the most difficult thing every child of God cannot face is the SILENCE OF GOD. This is a period when you pray and fast believing God to move in a particular area of your life and yet your prayers seem to hit the ceiling and bounce back to you.
It is the time you expect God to move in your deteriorating health condition, your financial crises, your marital crises or when all you do is attend friends weddings and you are not sure when it will be your turn.
This leaves you with a feeling of betrayal after you have told everybody what your God can do You are wondering whether God even cares at all or the adage 'When God picks a stone, He takes His time in throwing it'' is actually true?
And since our very society is hinged on the plank 'Time is money', our mindset is that the best time to do something is NOW.
But to walk with eternal creator, one must understand His dealings with us. I have personally concluded that God is a time-stopper whose answers are not always a Yes or a No, but sometimes His answer is Wait! It’s not yet time.
The reason He doesn't rush because we want Him to move is not because He doesn't care, but because He is the Time Keeper.
He ensures the regularity of the time so He is not subject to the law of time. Whenever you feel like you are on your extra time, He knows how to stop and reverse and stop the time.
If God could create this whole universe in 6 days, what can He not do for you in 365 days.
Today’s Supplication
Father, inculcate in us that You are not subject to the laws of time. But the regulator of time. Remind us that whenever we feel like we are on our extra time, You know how to stop and reverse and stop the time in our favour.

THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE
John 11
11:1
Lazarus of Bethany was ill. He was the brother of Mary and Martha. We find that sometimes our family members might fall into some harm or maybe they might be sick. If we seek to deliver them from this sickness we might not have the capacity. It appears that there are problems, family problems we might not be able to solve on our own. Not only that we can also have problems that are not related to our family that might also be difficult to solve. This brings to bear the question which is will our problems continue and we continue watching them because we lack the power to break free from them. Or is there a hope that somehow and maybe there might be help right at the corner.
11:2
Mary had a former encounter with Jesus. It was a personal one in which she knew that there is power somewhere that purposefully changes her situation. She had this knowledge based on previous encounters with Jesus. To her Jesus was familiar. Is Jesus familiar to you? Now Jesus being familiar to us does not mean we will not have problems. It only means we will know where to turn when we have them. Imagine someone who doesn’t have this knowledge. Imagine what they might be going through. Whether we care for it or not some problems will arise that will be beyond us. We cannot shy away from this. Now where do we run to, who do we call? Are we connected with the knowledge that can lead us out of these problems?
11:3
“So the sisters sent to him, saying ‘Lord he whom you love is ill.’” From this we are informed of another truth. We might also have problems even if Jesus loves us. Therefore there is no one on earth that is exempted from problems. Even Jesus had problems. The only difference is that he had the power to confront them. Therefore your problem is not new. People have problems everyday even those whom Jesus loves. We see that knowing Jesus is not an escape route from problems. Knowing Jesus only gives us power to confront them. It is like we are given a freehand by God to obtain the power to direct our situations and circumstances the way we want them to go. We also might be that certain man or woman that might be ill. One part or place in our lives might have confronted illness. God is telling us with is big heart of love that even if Jesus loves us we might also get ill.
11:4
Jesus heard the message his friends sent to him but he said “This illness is not unto death, it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God maybe glorified by means of it”. We understand from this that there are illnesses that bring the glory of God. Therefore we understand that not all sickness are there to satisfy the desires of the devil, Some are there to bring glory to God, We cannot begin to fathom what illnesses might bring or the foundation of their existence. We can only be sure that God has a plan for our lives and it is better we consult him before seeking advice from others. Mary and Martha made the right choice when they were in a situation in which illness was found. They did not run about to find something that was lost. They quickly identified the only solution to their problem and contacted him immediately. We must also endeavor to contact the solution to our problem which can only be found in Jesus. The illness of Lazarus only brought a response from Jesus that this is not unto death but one that will bring the glory to the Son of God. Situation that comes our way might only be stepping stones to us for more glory. It is only possible for it to be this when we’ve connected with the power that can make it so. If we do not have this power then it will remain so.
11:5-6
John tells us that “Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus”. This means that the love we have from God can be genuine and that we really can matter to God but that doesn’t mean that he will always come to us at the time we are expecting him to come. We find that despite the love Jesus had for Martha, Mary and Lazarus. He still stayed in the place where he was. Now to us that might not seem like love. It will seem to a human mind that he didn’t value his relationships. It will be said that he was wasting time. Whatever was said doesn’t change Christ’s love for Martha, Mary, Lazarus and us. We might be denied quick solution to our problems that doesn’t mean Christ has stopped loving us. We might want a contract, a promotion, a child, a business uplifting and might not seem to be getting it. That doesn’t mean that Christ has stopped loving us. We should therefore be aware of people who will tend to discourage us in our trust of Christ or tell us a different story about his love. They might even say are you sure you are not insane? They might even say you need to change strategies or beliefs. We can see in the case of Lazarus and his sisters that Jesus delayed but he didn’t ever stop loving them. Christ denial is not of hate. He can love us and expect us to wait for him.
11:7-8
Jesus told his disciples “Let us go into Judea again”. The fact is that when Christ is ready to come to our rescue he would. So it would not matter that he was not available since we had requested him to come into our situation. What matters most is if we are ready to keep on trusting and waiting for his arrival. Jesus loves us and he would show up for us. It may not be at the time we expect but he is surely going to come to our rescue. John 11:8 “the disciples said him, “Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone you and are you going there again”. This made it clear that it would not matter the obstacles that Christ will have to face to come to your rescue. Once you are loved he would go through all. So you might be asking is this not just an enormous task or is this not so much of a problem? It doesn’t matter how many people are against him coming into your situation be sure of this he would come. The disciples had to ask Jesus as if he didn’t know that are you going to where they want you stoned again. The fact is that we would be faced with strong opposition that would want to destroy our lives if we seek to go by the tenets of the gospel. Jesus faced the same problems, yet he didn’t yield to fear. He had a job to do and when it came to it he did it.
11:9
Jesus answered, “Are there bot twelve hours in the day”. If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.” This matters to us because there is a light that is available that if we have will not make us stumble. We have to therefore understand that whatever or wherever we are, we have to have the light that will not make us to stumble. It is this important that when we walk we walk at the right time when the light is available for us. If we walk when there is no light in us
11:10 “But if anyone walks in the night he stumbles because the light is not in him”. We only stumble when the light is not in us. if therefore we are faced with problems how to carry on with them involves that we have to have the light in us so as not to stumble because of the problems that we are faced with once we are able to walk according to the light we will find it easy to face our situations and problems without faltering or failing. It is imperative that whenever we walk we walk with the light.
11:11-12
He told them that Lazarus has fallen asleep but I go to awake him out of sleep. Lazarus was sleeping so Jesus said. The disciples then reasoned, Wow that is so good we don’t have to risk our lives anymore. He is just sleeping so at the right time he will wake. Now what might be our situation are we sleeping or are we awake? If we are sleeping it means that there has to be Jesus present to awaken us. What is the situation of our health is it sleeping? Jesus can awaken it. To the disciples this felt like ordinary sleep. To Jesus this was no ordinary sleep. It was a sleep that needed the presence of Jesus to awaken Lazarus from it.
11:13
Jesus was actually speaking of the natural death but they thought it was natural sleep. Jesus might be saying something to us but we actually need power to be able to differentiate and understand its meaning.
11:14
Jesus then told them that Lazarus is dead. Our situation that we have called and entreated Jesus to come into might have taken another turn it might have gone from illness to eventual death. Our Lazarus might have being sick and after a while he might have died.
11:15
Jesus told them that he was glad that there were not separated so that they might believe. He told them let us go to him. This problem was finally ready to be solved by Jesus and it would not matter if Lazarus had died or not. The main focus here is, Jesus is ready to solve it. Finally, Jesus was ready to make the journey that was necessary for the change of the situation.
11:16
Thomas was absorbed with unbelief. It was always hard for Thomas to believe that situations would change, yet he was resigned to the fact that Jesus was worth following to the death. If we begin to consider that we can make a purposeful shift from doubt like Thomas that is fueled by unbelief then it will not only give us confidence when we encounter problems but it will make available light that will not make us to stumble. If new can’t find that necessity we might allow our unbelief to shift us to finding solutions where they don’t exist. We have to be able to not listen to the voices of the Thomas though they might mean well but it doesn’t change the fact that we can get a meaningful shift in our situation.
11:17
When Jesus eventually decided to come Lazarus has been in the tomb for 4 days. In man’s calculation that was already late. The voices we might be hearing that is this not late still. We might begin to wonder why Jesus will come at the point when to us the situation is beyond repair. The issue we should hold is not when Jesus comes but that he comes. It is just all that matters.
11:19
The Jews had come to console with Martha and Mary concerning their bother. A lot of people had come to console with them finding it impossible to follow the path of belief that anything more can happen. We might also have gotten consoled by a lot of people. We might have even written off any meaningful solution to our situation. This would matter more to us than even if a lot of people have written us off. It would matter less when Jesus finally decides to come to us. Our lives is not final, our problems are not final though it may look so now.

Romans 10:12-13
[12]For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
[13]for "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Romans 6:23
[23]For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 John 3:6-10
[6]No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
[7]Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
[18]Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off;
[19]and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.

“When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.” John 11:6 >>In the forefront of this marvelous chapter stands the affirmation, "Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus," as if to teach us that at the very heart and foundation of all God's dealings with us, however dark and mysterious they may be, we must dare to believe in and assert the infinite, unmerited, and unchanging love of God. Love permits pain. The sisters never doubted that He would speed at all hazards and stay their brother from death, but, "When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was." What a startling "therefore"! He abstained from going, not because He did not love them, but because He did love them. His love alone kept Him back from hasting at once to the dear and stricken home. Anything less than infinite love must have rushed instantly to the relief of those loved and troubled hearts, to stay their grief and to have the luxury of wiping and stanching their tears and causing sorrow and sighing to flee away. Divine love could alone hold back the impetuosity of the Savior's tender-heartedness until the Angel of Pain had done her work. Who can estimate how much we owe to suffering and pain? But for them we should have little scope for many of the chief virtues of the Christian life. Where were faith, without trial to test it; or patience, with nothing to bear; or experience, without tribulation to develop it?” - Streams in the Desert

Good morning 🇹🇿🇬🇧🌏#cupoftea☕️ The Death of Lazarus 1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” 4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was. 7 Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” 8 The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?” 9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? Mercy from the throne of God’s Grace:
"Therefore [even] when He heard that Lazarus was sick, He still stayed two days longer in the same place where He was. Then after that interval He said to His disciples, Let us go back again to Judea. The disciples said to Him, Rabbi, the Jews only recently were intending and trying to stone You, and are You [thinking of] going back there again? Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? Anyone who walks about in the daytime does not stumble, because he sees [by] the light of this world. But if anyone walks about in the night, he does stumble, because there is no light in him [the light is lacking to him]. He said these things, and then added, Our friend Lazarus is at rest and sleeping; but I am going there that I may awaken him out of his sleep." (John 11:6-11) AMPC) It is one thing to know or receive God's revelations for what He wants to accomplish through our mortal-bodies here on earth then it is another thing to obtain mercy from God's throne of grace in order to live through the manifestations of such vision or purpose of God for our individual lives no matter the level of our spirituality. It is one thing to know that *without holiness no human being will enter into the fullness of eternal life in Heaven with The GOD-HEAD* but without *obtaining that dimension of mercy from the throne of God's grace "with boldness", those who claim to be saved will still be struggling with sinful lifestyle and might end their earthly lifestyle in sin without having the opportunity to repent before their biological death* Those who can come to the throne of God's grace *with boldness* are those who have obtained the mercy/forgiveness/redemption from God through faith in Jesus death on the Cross and His resurrection because "the righteous as bold as a lion" (Prov 28:1) and no matter our *spiritual level* if we fall from grace into any type or quantity of sin, we cannot have the boldness to commune or fellowship with God *without first obtaining forgiveness/mercy for such sin from God according to 1 John 1:9* hence let no human being deceive you that even in your sinfulness, you can be bold in the presence of God. This entails that there is a dimension or aspect of God's mercy that involves *forgiveness and remission of our sins through faith in the death of Jesus on the Cross and His resurrection* then there is another aspect of God's mercy which we *must obtain from His throne of grace* in order to have grace to *engage in consistent and progressive holiness on earth and life after death*. It is this dimension of mercy that enables any human being who is saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ to become a worthy vessel usable and re-usable by the Holy Spirit to accomplish all the purposes of God for him/her on this earth effortlessly. It is not in struggling to please God by our human limited resources or by shouting or by trying to compete and compare yourself with other human being or complaining that the standard of God's holiness is too high for any human being to walk in it on earth or by completely submitting to sinful lifestyle on earth while assuming holiness and walking in God's perfect-will on earth is not attainable on earth or by committing sin with impunity while justifying them with our choicest scriptures. If you want to remain *effective in the purposes of God on earth till your death* then you should willingly remain on the throne of God's grace *obtaining mercy* for each aspect of your life, day, engagements and vocations. The Throne of God's grace is not a physical location or a particular preacher or denomination rather *your heart to heart fellowship with God after you have received Jesus Christ Crucified as the Son of God and your own personal LORD and SAVIOUR*. Just like Moses told God, we will not go anywhere unless your presence goes with us so also as a child of God who has decided to remain on the throne of God's grace, you should not engage in anything even if it was revealed to you by GOD-HIMSELF until you engage HIM on His throne of grace and has obtained mercy for such engagement or revelations. This is what Jesus did in the bible passage we have above where Lazarus his friend whom he loves so much was reported to be sick, Jesus has already perceived a word of knowledge from His Father that such sickness will lead him to physical death but God's glory will be revealed to bring him back to life through Jesus however Jesus had to wait extra 2-days for the appropriate time to obtain mercy in order to have grace to bring about the physical manifestation of what His Father has revealed to HIM. The disciples of Jesus were afraid that the Jews who wanted to stone Jesus previously in Judaea will have the opportunity to hurt Him now but Jesus categorizes Himself as a person who walks in the 12-hours of day-light and will never stumble either by being stoned by the Jews or hindered from entering that city or prevented from accomplishing what His Father has revealed to Him about Lazarus because He has *obtained mercy from the throne of God's grace and has grace to help Him in that situation which is a time of need* However Jesus also confirms that those *believers or acclaimed believers* who have not obtained mercy from the throne of God's grace for each and every aspect of what God has planned or revealed to them are like those who walk in the 12-dark hours of the day who will definitely stumble which means they will be hindered from entering into the manifestations of what God's purpose or vision in their lives here on earth has in-store for them before their biological death either by their flesh, or satan. We are not seeking the mercy of men rather the mercy of God and we seek this mercy from His throne of grace but before we seek to obtain this dimension of God's mercy, we must have repented from our sinful lifestyle and obtained salvation through faith in Jesus death on the Cross and His resurrection(for unbelievers in the gospel) while for believers who have recently backslidden into sin, we need to repent from our sinful lifestyle and confess to Jesus Christ whose blood alone has the capacity to cleanse us from *all and every type/depth of unrighteousness* and He is *always eager and ready to restore any believer who backslides or falls from Grace as long as we are ready to repent and confess to HIM then become a worthy vessel for use and re-use in His hands*" (1 John 1:9) May the Holy Spirit release His mercy upon each and every human being who sincerely desires to serve the true living God who created the Heavens, Earth and under-world such that we shall come to the throne of God's grace with boldness and remaining perpetually on it obtaining mercy and having grace to help for every aspect of our lives each moment and days of our earthly existence in Jesus Name. Amen. Great Grace Brethren!!!
