I'm not saying that 84% of the Critical Role fanart I've made in the last few years is Aeor, but I'm also not saying it isn't exactly that. So getting the opportunity to paint canon pre-Calamity Aeor might be my new favorite thing.

Oh my gosh, that ending!! Everyone settling into their lives in ways that felt even more comfortable than before.
And Essek and Caleb! They are calling each other "dear" and exchanging kisses! I know we didn't get confirmation but knowing that in Caleb’s c2 epilogue they fell deeply in love with each other in Aeor, I think this does take place after their Aeor trip.
And after this, Caleb finally decides to take the plunge and seize the reins of his life. He takes up at Soltryce, he makes sure that the Tower is full at least two nights in a month and realizes that if he wants to keep them all together, he cannot wait for their call. He visits. He brings them together. And he shares love and kisses and stories with Essek (and sometimes brings him along, I'm sure).
Caleb didn't need anything in his life to change, but depression is funny that way. Nothing is fundamentally different when he comes home after Uk'otoa, but also yes it is. Caleb isn't waiting anymore. He can have what he wants, and it's okay that those wants are small.
I'm so glad he's happy, and I hope we don't have to wait so long to see him again.
