Warnings: non/dubcon, pregnancy, pegging, Lloyd being the worst, and other dark elements. My username actually says you never asked for any of this.
My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging.
Tumblr media
As you choke down the iron tablets with a glass of prune juice, you wrinkle your nose and let out a noise of disgust. Worse than the vitamins and the constipation, you feel the shirt tight across the new curve of your stomach and how it peeks out in an ungainly fashion. You're only happy no one is around to witness how gross you are.
Lloyd's absence has been peaceful. A mission which has stretched on two weeks and left you anything but lonely. Quiet mornings and similar nights, only briefly interrupted by his check-ins. You keep the phone close if only stave off any concern or further interruption of your solace. You might be alright if this is the usual. If you could count on a respite from the torture of his existence.
You rinse out the glass and burp up a nasty mouthful of prune flavoured reflux. You cringe and put the glass in the rack. You have no plans but you aren't restless.
You find little things to do. Sometimes you walk on the treadmill and watch a reality show about women with overinflated lips, other times you settle down with a book, rolling your eyes at the ridiculous thrillers Lloyd keeps in perpetuity, or you simply zone out in front of the television. With your cravings running wild, your time is merely counted as hours between meals.
You make your way to the door and ease it open. Spring is coming, the snow is thawing to mud, and the air smells like rain. You take a seat on the simple white bench and rub your back as you watch the sky. You wince as the speaker beside the doorbell clicks.
"Enjoying the view, peaches?" Lloyd asks from his remote observation.
"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere," you grumble, "I'm not that fast."
"Aw, baby, I know you're not gonna run," he taunts, "I'm just... enjoying the view myself."
You sigh and slap your thighs before you stand. You grown, keeping a hand on your hip as you move slowly. The extra weight, not much at all, is already straining in your back. You squint at the doorbell where you know the lens is.
"Dick," you utter as you pass by and go back inside.
"I didn't say you couldn't go outside," his echoed voice follows you inside, "wait, peaches... Mrs. Hansen. Give us a turn."
"Lloyd, leave me alone--"
"Wait, wait," he speaks, the noise of his fumbling rubbing against the mic, "better angle. Well, well, well, look at you. Is that junior I see peeking out beneath your shirt?"
"Stop," you hug your stomach, trying to hide it as you spin, dizzily searching for the seamless cameras.
He's quiet. You wait. The empty static dies and you think he's gone. You shake your head and go to the living room. You flop down and lean your head in your hand as you search through the menu for something to put on and fill the void.
As you hit play, the door flies open and jolts you from your comfort. You crane your head to look over your shoulder as Lloyd struts into the entryway, "honey, I'm home. And horny!"
"Jesus fuck," you snarl and turn back to the screen.
"Aren't you happy to see me, peaches?"
"Could've warned me--"
"Where's the fun in that?" He taunts as he comes behind the couch. As you drop the remote beside you he bends and kisses the crown of your head, "honey bee, I got an idea."
"Uh huh, that's always a good sign."
"Yes, you're a woman, you like simple things," he leans down and crosses his arm across the back of the sofa, "let's go shopping."
"Nah, I'm not really--"
"Look, baby, as much as I love seeing that soft tummy, you're gonna need something that fits and you're only going to get bigger."
"You think I don't know that. Lloyd, please, don't act like you care."
"Well, I do care. About my dick and how you make it feel, but nonetheless, I think by the time I get you in a cute little maternity dress, I'll be at full staff--"
"If I agree, will you be quiet?" You snap as your ears burn.
"I'll try but you know me well enough, peaches, I don't exactly know when to stop."
"For all your flaws, self-awareness isn't one of them," you mutter and push yourself to the edge of the couch.
Lloyd comes around and offers his hand. You haul your ass off the cushions and stand straight.
"Don't worry, baby cakes, I know you missed me," he winks, "that's what I like about you, the emotional repression."
💎
Your feet ache, even in the Vans you convinced Lloyd to buy you on the way in. New shoes are never comfortable but preferable to the unreasonable heels he keeps in good stock. You traipse behind him, nonplussed at the prospect of new clothes. You've never been a shopper and the last time you tried….
Well, you met him.
The memory chills you and floods your current reality. The realisation that a singular mortifying encounter became your foreseeable future. He sure had a way of ruining even the most mundane things.
Several stores down and you could collapse already. Even as he carries the load, you feel as if you're bogged down, hauling a boulder across the desert. You struggle to keep up with his long strides.
"I think we got enough," you puff, "really, not like I go anywhere."
"There's one more stop, then I'll take you home and rub you down," he winks as he nearly bowls over another shopper, his shoulder hitting theirs with an indifferent force, "get you oiled up and relaxed."
You sneer at him, even as the suggestion bubbles beneath your skin. No, he's not going to get to you. He interrupted your you time. One more he's ruined it all and for what, so you can buy stretchy leggings.
He turns into a black fronted shop, the pink moniker sending your heart into overdrive. No. He doesn't stop.
You trail behind him reluctantly. Shameless as always, he stops before the table of thongs and drops the bags by his feet, he stretches a lacy vee and faces you, holding them up to measure.
"Low rise so enough room for–"
"Lloyd, jesus," you cover yourself instinctively, "we're in public."
You feel the steady boil, the tingle that creeps up your thighs and ensnares your chest.
"Never stopped me before," he goes back to fishing through the displays, messing up the carefully folded piles, "satin… now what's the point in these?" He raises a thong that's little more than string, "well, if the point is to get me hard–"
"Quit," you beg as his words carry and the associates giggle at each other. Your cheeks burn even hotter, the sudden surge in your core surprising you.
"Let's find something to try on," he gathers the bags with one hand, several pantites clutched in the other, "hello," he greets the women behind the counter, both young and dressed in sleek back, "do you mind if we leave these? We're gonna have a look around."
"Uh, yes, sir," the blond chirps, "we'll keep an eye on them, no problem."
"I'm sure you will. Gorgeous blues," he compliments, "and that smile."
You frown. That's not cool. You're standing right there. It's not jealousy but the fact that he has no regard for you. That these young girls must assume you're some nag of a wife, easily forgotten for a pretty face.
You roll your eyes and strut away. He follows and chuckles. He's not dumb enough to think you care, surely not. Or that you would even think of dragging him out a fucking him in the backseat--
Because you wouldn't.
He take a leather corset and tests the resistance, "guess this is probably too much, we need something flowy."
"Whatever you want," you shrug.
"What's wrong, baby?"
"Nothing, grab what you want and let's go. I'm sore and hungry and tir–"
"Horny? Ah, okay, okay, sorry, I just thought… it's been two weeks."
"Don't," you growl, "I'm hardly in the…" you pause and stare at his hand as he grabs a baby blue teddy with an open front. It's like you can feel his touch already, "...mood."
"This," he wiggles the teddy, "looks cozy. Easy to rip off you."
"Sure," you swipe it away, "whatever gets me outta here." You go back to the girls at the desk, "hey, can I get a fitting room, please?"
"One sec," the blonde jingles her keys on her belt.
She comes around and you follow her to the back area. She lets you into a stall as Lloyd wanders up.
"You go to school?" He asks as you pull the curtain shut.
"Uh huh, law."
"Oh, sexy, a lawyer," he flirts, you can picture him stroking his dumb mustache, "freshman?"
"Sophomore," she replies as you strip down.
You shake your head as you pull on the teddy. You don't like how much of your stomach shows or how your tits feel like they're gonna fall out of the cups. You peek in the mirror, oh great, they also look humongous.
"Lloyd," you call as the girl giggles, "can you help me with this?"
"Yes, honey," he returns, "sorry, wifey's expecting and she's not as limber as she used to be."
"Aw, you're so helpful," the girl praises shrilly, "just let me know if you need anything else."
You face Lloyd as he comes through the curtain and you grab the front of his jacket. He blinks and gives a startled grunt, "hm?"
"Shut up and sit down," you swing him around and shove him onto the bench, "I'm should fucking smack you, you know that?"
"You should," he say brightly.
You narrow your eyes at him. He watches you boldly, mockingly. You hate him so bad but you also can't think of anything else but the way his shoulders look so broad and his chest strains his jacket tautly. You grab his belt and fumble with the buckle.
"Wait–"
"Shhhh, you'll get us in trouble," you hiss.
"Baby, it's not me making trouble for once," he sits back with a grin.

June 06, 2023
Carina and Andrew stand by the OB station waiting for their chief resident to present their patient. In honor of Pride month Carina has an iron on bisexual heart and a new progress pride flag embroidery patch on her white coat. Amber DeLuca nee Karev runs to her husband and sister-in-law with an apologetic look.
“Hey sorry I’m late I had to reassign Kwan. Apparently, Link is feeling nice and decided to let him skip pre op notes which is good for Kwan’s studying but bad for my patience.”
“Which is none.” Andrew points out knowing his wife.
“Exactly.” Amber grabs a tablet, “So what do we got?”
Carina explains leading them down the hall, “Mia Knight 45 years old, 39 weeks pregnant, she and her husband came here from Los Angeles for a scheduled C-section.”
“Los Angeles?” Amber asks reading the chart, “It’s a long way for a C-section, is there an indication for prenatal conditions? And why do we need a general surgery attending?”
“Because 8 years ago after she gave birth to her second child there was a tear in her bladder that the OB missed 6 hours after childbirth.” Amber looks at Andrew in shock over this horrific story, “She wasn’t a priority until her BP was dropping and they did an ultrasound. When they got her into the O.R. she had free fluid everywhere it took two trauma guys just to find the source.”
“She almost died.” Carina adds clearly triggered due to being newly pregnant, “And when she got pregnant again, she went to three OB’s who recommended a scheduled C-section so that she wouldn’t risk tearing the scar internally. I went to med school with one of them and she sent them to me.”
“I don’t blame her for being cautious. I would be too if something like that happened to me after Lucy was born. Are there any complications so far?”
“None but she’s 45 so she’s at risk for more post-partum complications than she was 8 years ago.” Carina stops them outside the door, “Let’s make sure she knows we are gonna do our best to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
Carina opens the door and all three of them enter the room. Carina greets the couple with a smile while Amber and Andrew stand back in shock at what they see. Mia Knight is in bed reading a book over her gorging pregnant belly and when she looks up at them the couple can register that she looks just like Maya Bishop.
Mia puts the book down and turns to Carina, “Hi you must be the famous Carina I heard about. Dr. Lorenzo sings your praises.”
Carina smiles at that, “Oh that’s nice well I’m glad she sent you to me, I am here to deliver your baby safely and make sure you both get home. Where’s your husband?” Andrew and Amber look at Carina shocked she is acting so professional with a woman who could pull off as her wife.
Mia chuckles, “I told him this book was boring me, so he decided to go to the nearest store and get me a new standard romance. He’s been doting a lot. It was sweet at first but at some point, it got kind of annoying. I’m sure that’s the hormones talking.”
“He sounds devoted, I have a lot of patients whose husbands don’t even go in the delivery room. I think their afraid seeing their wives like that will ruin sex for them.”
Mia laughs while Amber and Andrew look at each other stumped. Amber mouths ‘Maya?’ and Andrew answers with a scared nod. Suddenly a man comes in with a Barnes and Noble bag.
“Hey sorry I’m late I was on the phone with your mom apparently Henry wants to spend the night with his friend and wanted to run it by me. Also, Phoenix wants to know if we can stop by the space needle and take a picture.”
Mia smiles, “Assuming I can fit in selfie mode by then. Spence this is our OB Dr. DeLuca, and this is the cavalry, doctors this is my husband, Spencer.”
Carina shakes his hand, “Hi Spencer you guys can call me Carina. So, Spencer what did you get the lady of the hour?”
He reaches in and takes out the books, “I got you a Colleen Hoover and a Nicholas Sparks if you feel like crying.”
Mia chuckles, “Spence I’m carrying a baby and I’m fat I’m always crying honey.”
“You look beautiful.” Spencer tells her for what no doubt feels like the 100th time causing her to kiss him on the lips. The sight of a clone of Maya kissing somebody else causes Amber and Andrew to stare too stunned to react. Carina turns to Amber and Andrew looking confused on why they look like they’re seeing a ghost.
“Dr. DeLuca?”
Both of them snap out of it and say at the same time, “Yeah.”
Mia catches on and looks amused, “Related?”
Carina points to them, “Brother and his wife, his wife who is supposed to be presenting.”
“Oh, wow three doctors in the family that’s gotta be a record.” Spencer chips in.
“Five actually my brother and his wife are also doctors here, yep a lot of us are connected, sometimes in very unexpected ways.” Andrew snorts under his breath with Carina looking at him confused. Amber clears her throat remembering where she is, “Mia Knight, 45, in today for a scheduled C-section and overnight observation.”
“And why is the C-section scheduled?” Carina asks.
“Due to a tear in her bladder after her last vaginal birth it’s safer to do it surgically that way it lowers the risks of opening old scars internally through labor. And because of her age she’s at risk for postpartum complications.”
“My age?” Mia asks Amber with an offended look. Andrew purses his lips and stands back not wanting to get in the middle of a showdown between his wife and a pregnant woman.
Amber looks up like she’s run into a knife, “Oh um…45 is young don’t get me wrong but for being pregnant it’s…it’s not…”
Mia breaks out into a smile and chuckles, “It’s okay I’m messing with you.” Amber exhales in relief and relaxes to Andrew’s amusement, “I know I’m no spring chicken that’s why I tossed the condoms out last year and here we are about to have a late in life baby.”
Spencer grins, “If you think I was shocked imagine our boys when they found out mom can still get pregnant. Henry is 13 and Phoenix is 8 so they know enough to be disgusted.”
Carina preps the ultrasound, “13 and 8, what are boys like at that age? I’m asking so there’s no surprises for me.”
Spencer helps Mia pull her gown open so they can do the ultrasound, “You have kids?”
“I have a son he’s 1 and my wife and I are pregnant.”
“Congratulations.” Mia exclaims as Carina puts the gel on her belly.
“Thank you. I’m asking because I want to be prepared for what happens down the road.”
“Oh, it’s the best.” Mia tells her with a smile, “They’re out of diapers and you can get them to wash your car for extra allowance money. It makes up for the teen hormones and them constantly saying ‘I am a grown up’. There’s always up and downs at every age, you just have to not lose your mind.”
Andrew chuckles, “It matters the most when their 2 our little girl is that age and she is an adorable monster.”
Amber grins, “Yeah she gets that from her father.” Andrew grins at Amber.
“I’ll be sure to remember that.” Carina waves the wand over the belly and the screen shows a fully developed baby boy, “The baby looks strong, fetal heartbeat is normal and he looks ready to kick out of there. Are you both excited for a third boy?”
Mia grins, “You know after we found out Phoenix’s sex we decided to try again after for a girl but then…” Mia looks tormented by her last birth causing her to cough, “I was fine with the life I had after and then when we found out we were pregnant again I didn’t care if it was a goat just as long as I would have a better experience than last time.”
“And we’re gonna give it to you.” Carina affectionately holds Mia’s arms for assurance causing Andrew and Amber to look at each other over her comforting her like she would comfort Maya, “We are here to listen and to help you deliver this baby safely and go back home safe and sound. I will do the C-Section with Dr. DeLuca there to help in case there’s any complications. Amber here will be monitoring you before and after and page us if there is an emergency.”
Spencer looks at Mia with worry, “Are you sure it’s not gonna happen again? Because I waited while she was in the O.R. with our sons and it was hell. I don’t want us to go through that again.”
Carina looks at them understanding, “I know you’re scared, and you have a right to be but this is not like last time. Fetal medicine has evolved and so has our standard of care. We have crash carts for emergencies, checklists, and nurses working around the clock. We will take of your wife and baby, okay?”
Spencer and Mia look slightly relaxed and look at each other for a moment before Mia nods and her husband turns to them, “Okay.”
“Okay.” Mia says with a shaky breath.
Carina wipes the gel off Mia’s belly, “Okay I will go and prep an O.R. for you, Amber here will monitor you and prep you when we’re ready to go. You got this Mia.”
Carina walks out of the room with Andrew while Amber stays behind to monitor Mia’s vitals, still being transfixed by the similarities between her and Maya. Carina connects the tablet to a keyboard and types in the latest updates to Mia’s chart with Andrew right next to her looking at her with a gaped mouth and raised eyebrow. Carina notices and looks up with a blank look.
“What?”
Andrew’s eyes widen at Carina’s obliviousness, “What? Were you in that room just a minute ago?” Carina looks at him still confused, “Do you really not see it right now?”
“See what? Did Lucy hit you on the head with a bottle this morning?”
Andrew chuckles, “I think the hormones are making you blind right now.”
Amber exits the room leaving the door open and goes to her husband and sister-in-law with a scared face, “Oh my god I am getting serious Vertigo vibes here, if she falls to her death in a bell tower, I will not be surprised.”
“Yes, thank you!” Andrew tells Amber.
Carina chuckles lightly, “What are you two talking about? Is this an American thing I don’t know about?”
“She doesn’t see it?”
Andrew scoffs, “I’m also questioning it trust me.”
“See what?” Carina asks frustrated that she is kept out of the loop.
Amber turns to Carina straight with the answer, “She looks exactly like your wife.”
Carina looks surprised, “Maya? You think she looks like Maya?”
“Yes!” They both say in a duh tone but Carina chuckles like it’s the most ridiculous thing.
“That is stupid they don’t look anything alike.”
“Carina they could be twins.”
Amber gasps, “Maybe they are, separated at birth it could have happened.”
Andrew nods seeing it plausible, “Maya’s dad is messed up enough to do that.”
“Well, you are both wrong. Mia is 10 years older than Maya and she was born in Fresno.” Carina looks at them both amused, “Just because she has blonde hair and blue eyes doesn’t mean her and Maya are alike. Amber is blonde with blue eyes, and she looks nothing like Maya.”
“You really don’t see it?” Amber asks incredulously, “How can you not see it? My blind aunt in Omaha can see it.”
Carina rolls her eyes already annoyed, “I have to go prep the O.R. and you should go back in there and monitor Mia, so she doesn’t have a traumatic birth experience again. Mia not Maya Amber. Keep me updated.” Carina walks away from her brother and sister-in-law who look baffled by Carina’s stubbornness.
Amber grabs a tablet before turning to her husband, “We are not crazy.”
“Nope and I am gonna prove it.” Andrew pulls out his phone, “I’ll send you a text so you can open the blinds.” Amber nods at the plan and quickly goes back inside the room while Andrew calls Maya so she can come and prove themselves right to Carina.

Can I ask how you hold your pen + tablet when you draw? (My wrists started hurting n I wanna figure out how to make it stop lol)
pardon any awkwardness in this post whether phrasing- or formatting-wise I’m typing it on my phone at like 8am HSBDBSB
I hold my pen in a pretty standard(???) grip like this
Tumblr media
I sit at a desk (w a desktop computer) and do not use a screen tablet. So I try to keep a pretty upright posture. my tablet is laid firmly on my desk and I can look straight ahead while I draw, which is good for me (my neck/back can get sore easily)
However I do have wrist problems. I can’t always draw as much as I want to, and I often won’t “double dip” on strenuous activities (for example I usually decide whether to play a video game OR draw, and don’t do both on the same day)
(or I can only play specific games, like ones that are purely mouse-controlled (=opposite hand). You get the idea)
Without knowing your exact like, drawing setup and habits (and medical history for that matter) it’s hard to give specific like Hard Advice—but in general try to keep good posture (sit straight, try to use a seat with good lower back support, don’t hunch) and keep loosy goosy. try not to hold tension in your body if possible (including the fingers—hold your pencil loosely and don’t grip it tightly)
you might benefit from assessing How you draw and adapt certain parts to relieve how much work your wrist is doing (do you rest your hand on the drawing surface and rely entirely on wrist movements to draw curves/etc? Is it possible to raise your arm up from the desk and use your whole arm/elbow to draw larger gestures instead of causing repetitive strain to the wrist?)
(the settings in your art software—does your brush demand too much pen pressure? Can you adjust the pen pressure settings to respond better to a lighter touch? <- This was Huge for me!!!)
Do stretches before you begin. Take intermittent breaks to do stretches again while you draw. You can look up stretches for artists online!
If your wrists are already hurting then something is already wrong. You should be strictly resting whenever this happens and trying to minimize how much strain you put on your wrist, ideally until you feel no pain at all (and depending on how tender your wrist is, maybe a little after that too just for good measure). I use a wrist brace with a metal plate inside to keep my wrist as immobile as possible when I’m resting. If your problems persist like mine, a solid immobilizing brace is really a godsend. Don’t wear a brace while drawing, but put it on when you stop to rest (even if you don’t urgently feel any pain!)
The most hard to swallow advice—but also the most true—is that you should never work to the point of pain. This sucks, because sometimes I’m in a groove and a drawing is going really well and “if I just push through this slight discomfort the art will be finished and it’ll feel awesome”. This is The Deceiver. You never want to work until it hurts. If you (like me) tend to get caught up in the flow and find it hard to stop midway, get in the habit of checking in with yourself at a set interval (eg set a timer, or make up a rule based on your habits like “after every 2nd Monitor Youtube Video I half-watch while drawing, check to see how my wrist is feeling” (<- meee)) and if you feel discomfort or pain, you have to stop and rest
Getting into good habits NOW is the only way to protect your FUTURE wrist... So you have to bite this lemon for me and stop having fun when your wrist starts to complain. Which sucks a lot. But trust me HDNDBHS
Sorry if I sound like a big downer and/or a fussy worrywart but yknow. I have wrist problems that do prevent me from doing things I want to do sometimes and I hate to see it blooming in other artists 😭 take care of yourself anon!
I’m probably forgetting something because I’m very tired rn (and ironically my wrist hurts so I’m gonna put my phone down and sleep) but if possible you should ask a doctor to have a feel, and tell them any other symptoms (numbness, prickling, etc) if you have them. I’m not a doctor and idk what you have going on, but a wrist brace is pretty easy to acquire and wear, so I do generally recommend that!
Like tldr imo its about the preventatives (good habits like posture and taking breaks) and listening to your body (both during work and when resting in between work!). Wrist problems can get seriously bad if you don’t take measures to slow em down. Good luck! Take care of yourself!!!! 😭🫡

Nobody asked but here are my thoughts about Infinite and the president’s sonadow fanclub because i haven’t stopped thinking about it for WEEKS and if I don’t get it out there I will implode.
More of a lighthearted, crack treated seriously type of thing.
So if we’re sticking with the main Sonic Forces timeline, i think that the jackal squad didn’t die or anything. They just got real beat up by Shadow and fired by Eggman as a result. the loss stings everyone’s pride, but none more than infinite.
He sees his team sulking for days and thinks “how can i embarrass Shadow the same way?” and Sonic is doing the whole Twitter Takeover with Eggman and Shadow and he’s like. Oh yeah. I’m gonna embarrass you all in front of so many people.
So the whole “a file called Sonadow.” thing plays out and it’s funny!! Infinite spent a few days searching for sonadow fanart and fanfiction around the web and compiled a folder and sends it to Eggman live. (and it’s surprisingly hard to find any sonadow content. apparantly its a rare thing.) He and his crew get a laugh out of it.
And then:
It’s like one of those things where you start doing something ironically. saying a phrase or doing a mannerism in the day as a joke. He’ll see a pepsi can and a coca cola can together and laugh and point and say “haha. sonadow.” and his crew will laugh too. He’ll find fanart and tag Shadow in it to annoy him.
Then I think this leads down a pipeline to him actually reading fanfiction and theories. “For fun,” he says.
“Look at this,” he says to Vanish, gesturing to his tablet screen. They’ve just collected a bounty in a snowy mountain and are taking a rest in their tent.
Vanish squints and reads over his shoulder. “What...”
“There’s a small community of people that genuinely believe Sonic and Shadow have a secret relationship and go out on cheesy dates.”
Vanish laughs in disbelief. “That’s crazy.”
Infinite nods, absently rubbing his knee because the cold makes his joint ache. “I know. I mean, if they were actually in a relationship they wouldn’t meet at a restaurant for a date. Obviously. These people don’t know anything.”
Vanish stares at him for a moment, but Infinite has continued scrolling.
“Whatever you say, boss...”
Anyway. Time passes and it’s. Not a joke anymore.
the more he reads, the deeper he gets, until one day he’s fully onboard like. “Woah, hang on. This actually makes a lot of sense. Are they really together? They have to be!”
I like to think he saw fics and art and scoffed like. “The characterization is so off.” and “He would never say that.” and “I bet I could do better.” so he starts creating his own stuff and putting it online. maybe he started with crack fics and his team just smiled awkwardly when anything was brought up because. well, Infinite is still a damn good leader and his hobbies aren’t really hurting anyone.
but infinite is really miffed because no one will take him seriously!! like, his crew is not as invested in this as he is and whenever he gets a good conversation going with someone online, they either move on from “sonadow” really quickly or they have a different view on their relationship than he does.
until he’s browsing forums and notices a single user that has been posting continuously since like. almost 2001???
so he hits up the user “Sonadowfan1″ and they talk EXTENSIVELY and holy shit. It’s like he and this person are on the same wavelength. this person GETS IT.
Sonadowfan1: I’ve believed in their relationship almost since day 1
User69420: Wow, you were there since the beginning?
Sonadwofan1: I was. And let me tell you, the way they worked together, the way their chemistry works, I have never met another pair of beings so closely intertwined. But they love to dance around each other.
User69420: Exactly! Did you see the clips of their time at the Olympics?
Sonadowfan1: I was there in the audience! It was quite something to see in person.
So Infinite has a new internet friend that he can share his ideas with. Sonadowfan1 recommends fanfiction and sends their favorite clips and they have some damn good taste since they’ve been around for a while.
Meanwhile Infinite’s crew is just happy he’s not coming to them every time he needs to vent his frustrations. They hear his phone ding and see him grinning a minute later, typing away like a kid.
Months pass and he and Sonadowfan1 decide to meet up. It’s the middle of the night, and Infinite is hesitant. But Sonadowfan1 insists that it’s the only time that he’s able to step away from his job. But he makes Infinite agree to come alone.
User69420: Why? What are you playing at?
Sonadowfan1: I have a very recognizable face. I trust that you won’t reveal my identity, but only you.
Infinite frowns. It’s a dumb statement, really. Infinite thinks he would sell this guy’s information for a price in a heartbeat. But, whatever gets him the meeting with the only other person that believes in this as much as he does- maybe even more.
“Should we...?”
Eclipse points to Infinite, who is getting ready to head out and meet with his online friend.
Rumble blinks. “You want me to stop him? He can handle himself. Let him get this out of his system or enjoy himself. At least it’s not affecting his work.”
And just. Long story short that’s how Infinite comes face to face with the fucking President of the United States. They agree to have monthly meetings. The pres shows Infinite his own Sonadow files and the picture he keeps on his desk. They go over their interactions and break them down, frame by frame.

A Heart Of Iron Chapter 21
Tumblr media
Chapter below cut
TONY
When Tony got up to his room, the 40-plus hours of no sleep and frantic searching finally caught up with him, and he rolled over to his bed, climbed into it, and passed out.
Suddenly, Tony is back on Titan, breathing heavily from the battle that just ended. Thanos just won, turning half of all life into brown dust, some of which is swirling in the air around Tony. The Guardians just turned to dust, and he sees Strange do the same right before his eyes. Suddenly, he hears someone call out his name, voice trembling with fear, and he turns around to find Peter, looking to be around 16 years old. He's wearing the suit that he had been wearing in his other dreams, and he's breathing heavily and stumbling towards Tony, a terrified look on his face
"Mr. Stark?" he says, "I don't feel so good."
"You're alright," Tony says, knowing that Peter needs to hear it even if Tony knows it's not the truth. The boy moves closer to Tony, starting to hyperventilate.
"I don't– I don't know what's happening. I don't– I don't– Please. Please!" the boy says, falling into Tony's arms. He clutches Tony's shoulder like it's the last thing he'll ever do. "I don’t wanna go, I don’t wanna go, sir, please."
The two slowly fall to the ground, Peter starting to sob. Peter's frantic now, knowing that he's going to die and there's nothing that he can do about it. There's nothing anyone can do about it.
"Please, I don’t wanna go. I don’t wanna go," Peter says as he falls to the ground, eyes slowly becoming distant. He looks over at Tony, face schooled into one of acceptance, and nods reassuringly. "I’m sorry."
With that, Peter slowly turns into dust, and Tony reaches down as if to catch him, grabs at the ground where Peter was just seconds before, but it's too late. Peter's gone.
Tony shot awake, hands clutched around handfuls of the blanket in a death grip. His first thought was to go to Loki, and he had even gotten in the wheelchair before he remembered the events of the past few days. Not wanting to think about what had happened, he slowly made his way to Steve's room, needing to talk to someone about the dream. When he got there, he could hear Steve and Natasha talking through the door that was left slightly opened.
"–team is close to being ready. I've already picked out the four main members, and they're almost done with their training," Nat was saying, voice slightly muffled by the door.
Tony softly knocked on the door, waited a few seconds, and, when he didn't get a response, he knocked a bit harder. A few seconds later, Steve opened the door.
"It's Peter," Tony blurted, "He's gonna die. I just had a vision of Thanos turning people to dust, including him. We have to stop this."
"How far into the future was this? You said that the other dream took place in the far future. Was this one like that?" Steve asked gently.
"Yeah," Tony said, calming down slightly. "He looked like he was 16."
"Okay, then we have some time," Steve said, motioning for Nat to come over. "Nat was just showing me her idea for the new team, and I thought you might want to see."
"There's one whose identity we haven't been able to verify yet. The name she gave us was Daisy Johnson, and the only reason I'm considering her for the team despite her lack of identification is that Matt is vouching for her." Nat said, handing him a tablet with five photos on it.
The title of the page called the team the "Defenders". One of the photos was of a man who looked to be around 30 with shoulder-length blonde hair. He was wearing a blue, white, and gold tactical uniform, and his photo had the caption "Archangel – Franklin Percy Nelson". Another was a man who looked to be around the same age with short brown hair. He was wearing a similar uniform that was red and black, and his photo had the caption "Daredevil – Matthew Michael Murdock". The third one was someone who looked to be–
"Is that a kid?" Tony exclaimed, taken aback.
"Kate's 18, and her archery skills could rival Clint's. Trust me, she knows what she signed up for, and, like the rest of this team, she has her own motivations for joining," Nat said, and that didn't help Tony's fears that much. She was still a kid, and he wasn't about to let a kid put their life on the line like that.
He looked at her photo again. She was wearing a similar uniform to the others, hers being purple. She had long brown hair that was pulled up into a ponytail, and her photo was captioned "Trickshot – Katherine Elizabeth Bishop". There were two more photos, a black-haired girl that looked to be the same age as Kate with the caption "Echo – Maya Lopez" and a brown-haired girl that looked to be in her mid-twenties with the caption "Black Sky – Elektra Natchios".
"Matt and Foggy are also lawyers, so they could help us with the legal aspect of the team," Nat continued.
"No. I mean, I'm fine with Elektra, Foggy, and Matt, but Kate and Maya are too young. Especially after–" Tony started, voice catching at the memory of his dream. He continued, tone making it very clear that he was not going to budge on this one. "Especially after the vision I just had, I'm not going to put any more kids in danger. Leave them out of it."
"I get it. I'm going to go check on our back-up candidates," Nat said quietly, taking the tablet from Tony and leaving the room.
Tony slumped back in his seat and let out a shaky breath and quietly said, "I don't know what I'm going to do. These visions are getting worse and worse. I keep seeing people die, Steve."
"Have you tried going back to the place where Thanos came last? I'm pretty sure the woman who was there might be able to help you," Steve said, and Tony considered that. She did look like she knew a lot about magic and the like, and these visions were more than likely that kind of thing.
"I'll try that. I need to go out and clear my head anyway," Tony said.
"I could come with you, if you want," Steve offered, but Tony shook his head.
"I think this is something I need to do on my own. I'll let you know if I find out anything big, though," Tony said, and Steve nodded.
"Okay. Let me know if you need anything," Steve said.
"Yeah," Tony said, moving to leave. "See you, Steve."
"Bye, Tony," Steve sighed, and, with that, Tony rolled to the elevators and left the tower.
As he was going to the Sanctum Sanctorum, he let his thoughts wander back to the events of the past few days, specifically his interactions with Loki before the park. Loki had seemed so happy then, but when Tony had seen him at the park, he looked like he had just been crying. He had gotten so distant, even snapping at Tony, and then he had just disappeared. It made no sense.
He suddenly noticed that he was at the Sanctum Sanctorum, and that the only way into the building was to go up a set of stairs. He cursed under his breath, and, while he was scanning the front of the building for another entrance, a hand gently tapped him on the shoulder. He quickly spun around in his chair and saw the Ancient One, a sling ring on her fingers and a small, knowing smile on her face.
"What? How did you know I would–" Tony said while she used the sling ring to create a fiery orange portal to the lobby of the Sanctorum, the inside seemingly reverted back to the state it had been in before Thanos had arrived the last time he was there
"Come in. We have a lot to talk about," she said, walking into the portal and motioning for him to follow. He carefully rolled his wheelchair through the portal, bracing himself for a feeling of nausea or at least some sense of dizziness, but he was surprised when he didn't feel anything at all. He quickly shook off the surprise, though, needing to figure out what was going on with his visions.
"I'm assuming you know why I'm here," he said, and the Ancient One nodded.
"Yes. The visions you've been having, they're not visions of the future," she said, moving over to a table and picking up a tome off of it. It was a warm brown color, with intricate detailing on the leather cover. The Ancient One started to walk back to him, gently flipping through the book in search of one specific page.
"Then what are they? They can't be dreams, because they show things that I have never seen before," Tony said bemusedly.
"They're not visions of the future, they're visions into an alternate universe."

The Great Escape
A/N: So this was requested by an anon and I had so much fun writing it, I think it's the longest fic I've ever written so I hope you enjoy! (Also, reading back over this, I realised I've mentioned Vision and Jarvis in the same story which I know isn't possible but I cba to change it because I love them both...even though they're technically the same...)
Word count: 2458
Summary: The reader tries to sneak out to a party, but Tony, Steve and Bucky are onto her.
-----------------------------------
“Are you coming tonight or what?” Your friend asked at the other end of the phone.
“Yes, yes I am. I’m just thinking of ways to escape without being caught.” You replied.
“You’re not in a prison, just walk out of the front door,” they said.
“I wish it were that easy. Tony’s already said no to me going so he’s gonna be on high alert. Don’t worry, I’ll find a way,” You said.
“Okay, meet me outside the party at 9, no later. Good luck, agent Y/L/N” your friend teased.
“Shut up, I’ll see you later.” You hung up the phone. It was half 5 in the evening and it took about 45 minutes to get to the party by walking. You decided you were gonna attempt to leave at quarter to 8, so you would have time to escape without being seen and enjoy a gentle stroll to the party.
“Everyone normally eats dinner about 6, then they tend to go off and do their own thing. This should be a doddle, right?” You thought to yourself.
At 6, everyone sat round the table together to eat.
“So, what’s everyone doing after this?” You asked, trying to work out everyone’s movements.
“I’ll be working on my latest model,” said Tony, shovelling a load of pasta into his mouth.
“I’ll be in the gym, pumping iron,” said Bucky.
“Vis and I have got a date night booked,” said Wanda. Sam made gagging noises next to them.
“Are you gymming too, Steve?” asked Bucky before spilling pasta sauce on his leg.
“Nah I did my workout earlier. I may chill with a film. Fancy joining me, Y/N?” He asked.
Shit. That backfired.
“Oh, uh, thanks but I can’t. I said I’ll phone some friends tonight.” You said, thinking quickly.
“Surely that won’t take long though, would it?”
You paused. Tony looked at you suspiciously.
“You know Y/N, she won’t shut up once she gets talking to her friends.” Peter piped up. You relaxed.
“Yeah, exactly. I’ll be up there for hours.” You said.
“Aren’t they all going to this party you talked about?” Tony asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Uh, no, not this lot. This is the nerd group I’m part of, they don’t party.” You said quickly. Tony grunted but said nothing more.
Once everyone finished eating, you raced back upstairs to find an outfit. Once you had gotten changed and done your hair and makeup, it was quarter past 7. Half an hour before you were due to leave. You were sat on your bed, scrolling through TikTok until half past 7.
“Sod this,” you thought. Waiting around for any longer would heighten your anxiety so you decided to put your plan into action now.
You left your room and decided to scan all exits of the building to see which one was the best option to use.
“Sir, I don’t mean to alarm you but Y/N seems to be acting pretty suspiciously,” Jarvis informed Tony. Tony was in his lab working on his latest project.
“What do you mean suspicious?” Tony asked.
“She’s wandering back and forth around the compound.” Jarvis replied.
“Maybe she’s just taking a walk.” Tony said.
“Sir, she’s wearing make-up.” Jarvis informed him. Tony stopped what he was doing.
“Makeup? She never wears makeup unless…” Tony stopped in his tracks.
“Jarvis, does Y/N appear to be scanning all the exits?”
“Yes, sir.”
“And does she look dressed up?”
“Yes, sir.”
“That little minx.” Tony said. “Jarvis, get Steve and Bucky up here please.”
“Of course, sir.”
A few minutes later, Bucky and Steve appeared in Tony’s lab.
“What’s up?” asked Steve.
“I’ve got a mission for you both. Y/N is trying to sneak out of the compound to get to this party of hers tonight. I’ve got eyes on her through Jarvis but I need your help to stop her leaving.”
“Tony, she’s just going to a party. What’s the big deal?” Bucky asked.
“The big deal is that she’s 16 and she’s going to a big party where there will be loads of people and most likely alcohol...or worse. Plus she’s already asked me if she can go and I’ve already said no so now she’s disobeying me.” Tony said.
“Oh. Right.” Bucky replied.
“Here are some ear pieces, I’ll stay here and tell you where she is and you go and stop her from leaving,”
“Roger that,” Steve said. “Mission: Trap Y/N is go.” He saluted Tony and left the room with Bucky. Tony sighed.
“Alright Tony, where she at?” Bucky asked quietly.
“Jarvis, I need eyes on Y/N.” Tony said.
“Sir, she is currently heading to the north exit.”
“North exit guys,” Tony spoke into their ear pieces.
“I’m closer, I got this.” Steve said. He quietly ran to the north corridor and saw you walking to the exit.
“Hey you, finished your phone call already?” He asked. You jumped and turned.
“Oh, uh, yeah, um, I was just going for a walk.” You said.
“Oh sweet, I’ll join you.” Steve said.
“Oh, um, well I just wanted some alone time,” you said, hinting at him.
“I’ll be quiet, I can do with some fresh air too.”
“Actually, on second thoughts, I really need to pee so um...yeah…” you said, jogging past him and back upstairs.
Shit. Back to square one.
You gave it a minute then decided to head to the east exit.
“Guys, she’s going east.” Tony informed the boys.
“On it,” Bucky responded.
He was closer to the door than you were so he decided to open it and lean against the threshold, as if he was just admiring the garden. You turned the corner to see him stood with his back to you. You froze in your tracks.
“Dammit,” you thought to yourself. You tiptoed backwards and headed for the south exit instead.
“Nice work guys, she’s going south now.” Said Tony.
“My turn,” said Steve. He, once again, appeared the same time you did.
“Oh did you pee? Fancy going for a walk now?” He said behind you. You rolled your eyes and turned around.
“Hey, um, yeah I did, but um I’ve changed my mind I don’t actually wanna walk anywhere now.”
“But you’re heading for the exit?”
“Uh, yeah, um...I...I got lost.” You said, shrugging.
“Lost? You’ve been here for 16 years…”
“Yeah, um, bit forgetful it seems,” you laughed nervously, “alright well back I go.”
You walked past him. Once you knew you were out of sight, you headed for the final exit to the west of the building.
“Alright guys…” Tony began.
“Going west, got it,” Bucky finished. He headed in your direction and deliberately walked straight into you.
“Whoa, watch where you’re going.” He teased.
“Sorry Buck,” you responded.
“Where exactly are you going?”
“Just going to get a drink then back to my room,” you lied.
“....dressed up like that?” He asked. You blushed.
“Um, yeah, we decided to dress nicely for our call earlier. Bit of a treat, you know?” You said.
“So...what are you doing at the exit if you’re getting a drink?”
“Thought I’d go around the outside to get some fresh air before entering the kitchen.” You lied, again.
“Without me?!” Steve said. You jumped.
“Oh uh, hey, um, yeah I changed my mind again.”
“Well can I at least join you this time?”
“Oh, uh..”
“What do you mean this time?” Bucky asked.
“Well I found her at both the north and south exits and she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to go for a walk or not. I offered my company and she said no.” He said.
“Maybe that’s why she said no.” Bucky teased. You giggled a little.
“So how come Steve caught you at the north and south exits and I caught you at this one and the east exit?” Bucky asked.
“Oh, I...um...I...wait, how did you know I was at the east exit?” You asked.
“Because we have eyes everywhere, Y/N.” Tony said, appearing behind Steve. He held up his tablet that contained Jarvis’ map. “I told them to follow you.”
“What? Why?” You asked.
“Because, you’re sneaking out to that party. Don’t think you can outsmart Jarvis now, Y/N.”
“Damn you, Jarvis.” you mumbled under your breath.
“I have been programmed to protect everyone in this compound, especially children.” Jarvis said over the speakers. Bucky, Steve and Tony all laughed.
“Oh very funny. I’m not a child.” You said, sarcastically.
“No you’re not, but you’re also not 18 yet which means you’re still legally under our care. And when I say you can’t go to a party, it means you cannot go to a party.” Tony said, taking a step towards you.
“But Tony, if I miss out I won’t be one of the cool kids.” You said.
“You live with all the cool kids here.” said Bucky, you rolled your eyes at him.
“I can’t believe you disobeyed me and tried to sneak past even Jarvis.” Tony said.
“I’m sorry for disobeying you, I really am. I just...I need to go to this. People are waiting for me.” You pleaded.
“No. Maybe I would have considered it if you didn’t break my trust. But now I want an apology.”
“I just said sorry.”
“No no, I want a proper apology.”
“What do you mean by a proper apology?” You asked.
Tony took a step towards you and you subconsciously backed away.
“Come here.” He said, sternly. You looked to Steve and Bucky for help but they just kept a poker face. You stepped closer to Tony.
“Now, I need to make sure you mean your apology and that you’re not going to break my trust again. Any ideas on how I’ll do that?” Tony asked.
“By putting a Jarvis tracker on me….oh wait,” you said, sarcastically. Bucky chuckled. Tony cleared his throat.
“Keep talking like that and this will be much worse for you.” Tony said.
“What will?” You asked.
“This.” Tony said. In one swift motion he had swooped you up and pinned you to the ground, careful not to hurt you in the process.
“What the hell?!” You complained, now trapped under Tony.
“I’m not going to stop until I know you’ve learned your lesson.” He informed.
“Stop what??” You asked. He pulled your arms up and pinned them above your head. He then took a single finger and wiggled it into your armpit. You instantly started giggling.
“Nononono wahait shit plehease,” you giggled.
“Not until I know your apology is sincere.” He said, wiggling another finger into your armpit.
“Please please please I am sohohorry,”
“No you’re not, not yet.” He said. With that, he let go of your arms and stuck both hands into your armpits. You pulled your arms straight down, trapping his hands in the process.
“WAIT NO PLEASE!” You screamed as he tickled deep into your armpits. Bucky and Steve both awed at your giggling mess.
"Come join, agents. You deserve some down time too.” Tony said to Steve and Bucky. They exchanged a look and smiled before walking over to you.
“NO NO NO NOT YOU!” You screamed, watching them approach. Tony was still tickling your armpits so Steve sat to the side and started kneading your hips. Bucky grabbed your legs and went for the back of your knees. You yelped and screamed and arched your body violently.
“AHAHAHAHA NOHOHO STOHOHOP!” You cried.
“Not until you’ve learned your lesson.” Tony repeated.
“I HAHAHAHAVE!” You cried.
“What do you think guys? Has she?” Tony asked the others. They both said “no” in unison. “Right then,” Tony continued.
He removed his hands from your armpits and started tickling your neck. You hunched up your shoulders and squealed. Steve noticed you were trying to pull Tony’s hands away so he shuffled up next to your head, grabbed your arms, pinned them above your head again and sat on them.
“WHAT THE HEHEHELL?!” You screamed, now unable to protect yourself from Tony. Steve gave an evil laugh then proceeded to drill his fingers into your armpits. You screamed louder than ever and frantically tried to twist away.
“NAHAHAHAHAHA PLEHEHEHEASE!” Tears started forming in your eyes as the boys tortured you. Bucky adjusted himself so he was now sat on your legs. Having just taken your shoes off, he was now tickling the soles of your feet.
“PLEHEHEHEHEASE I’M SO SOHOHOHORRY!” You yelled through the laughter. Tony felt your legs trying to move and looked over his shoulder to find Bucky holding your toes and scratching at your soles. You screamed loudly again and fell into silent laughter, your face going bright red.
Tony looked at Steve and they both stopped instantly, but you were still screaming. They looked over and realised Bucky was still going, tickling both of your feet simultaneously.
“Buck, ease up now, don’t kill her.” Steve said.
“Oops,” said Bucky, climbing off your legs. Steve got off of your arms but Tony was still sat on your waist.
“I….I...I really am sorry, Tony.” You breathed out.
“I believe you,” he said. “Will you do it again?”
“Absolutely not,” You giggled softly.
“Good.” He climbed off of you and helped you up.
“What time does this party start?” He asked. You looked at your watch, it was now half 8 .
“In half an hour,” you said.
“Go and fix your hair and makeup. I’ll drive you there.” He said.
“Really?” You asked.
“Yes, really. I was too hard on you earlier. But you’re still only 16 so I’ll be collecting you at midnight, okay?”
You stood up and smiled at the three of them. Then you thought for a moment.
“No.” You said.
“Excuse me?” Tony responded.
“I’m not gonna go. I want to spend the night with my family.” You said. Bucky clutched his heart and let out a long “awww”, which made you giggle.
“Movie and snacks?” Tony asked.
“Movie and snacks.” You agreed.
You all walked back down the corridor together.
“So, does this mean you’re definitely not going for a walk?” Steve teased. You laughed and elbowed him in the ribs. He put his arm around you.
“Wait, let me get changed into something more comfy,” you said, running up the stairs. When you came back down, you got your phone out and messaged your friend.
“Sorry, can’t make it, got caught. See you another time.”
You then placed your phone on the side and sat down between Tony and Steve.
One by one, the other avengers slowly joined your little film group. It really was the perfect family night.

Male Reader

You can read part 2 here
Part 3; Finale
Spinning your keys around your finger, you go to slip them into the backdoor's lock, finding that turning it was difficult.
Far too difficult.
"Did someone break in?" You mutter, pulling the key out and beginning the walk around to the other entrance. "Well, if they did I doubt they'd stay long, not with William there."
Entering through the front, you look around the dark establishment, trying to spot if anything had been stolen or otherwise interacted with violently. With a sigh of relief at the sight of everything being normal, you fully step in, making your way through the building and wondering with a disgusted expression how William was able to walk through this place barefoot.
Turning the corner that allowed you to look into the window of your office, you see your golden-green companion looking at the door with his head tilted, an unrecognizable expression on his face.
"Yeah, the lock's broken for whatever reason." You say, his gaze shifting before his face does.
"Mhm." He walks towards you, stopping a few meters away. "Say, have you thought about me very much?"
Caught off guard by the question, you tilt your head. "Huh?"
"My existence. How I came to be trapped in a suit." He elaborates.
"Not really, to be honest… why?"
He looks into the office window, eyeing that tablet. "The suit, being an original model, incorporated these little devices known as springlocks."
Your brows furrow. You only knew of Springbonnie and Fredbear from random things online, so the inner workings of them was completely unknown to you.
"The reason why they're called suits; the springlocks pushed back all the little bits of animatronic things that filled them, thus allowing them to be worn by employees. I, as you can tell, was one of them." His gaze shifts back to you. "However, I wasn't when I was subjected to my slow death."
He takes one small step towards you. "It was in a room known as the saferoom- ironic, isn't it- which was invisible to both cameras and the animatronics that walked around."
His lips twitch up. "I hid in there, waiting for them to come near me. When they did, I broke them. They all came, and all of their shells were destroyed."
Shells? Destroying the animatronics?
You watch as he takes another step forward, this one larger.
"But, the ones inside those shells weren't so easily deterred."
Ones inside…?
"They chased me. Forced me into hiding in the suit. They wanted revenge; wanted me dead."
He takes a few larger steps, now within arms length. You, however, grow uneasy, stepping back. His eyes stay locked with yours, a soft grin on his lips.
You truly do look like his prey.
"I don't blame them. After all, who wouldn't want their murderer dead?"
Your eyes widen as your suspicions are proven correct. When he takes a step forward, you do the same in reverse. If you look away for one moment, he'll catch you. You've seen his speed.
His eyes glow in the dim light, lips curling into a nightmarishly wide grin.
"Oh, it seems you've figured out my big secret. Does it change your view of me? Would you still wake up on top of me so calmly?" He laughs. "Would you still let me rest my head on your hand? Would you still so easily approach me?"
You were wrong last night. Dead wrong.
He's terrifyingly monstrous, even as a human.
"Well, I suppose my last question has already been answered." With a small chuckle, he jolts forward, you ducking to the side right before he could reach you and dashing off. He glances your way during his brief pause, expression horrifyingly giddy.
His steps are loud behind you, and you only manage to reach cam 6 before arms cage you in against the wall, you turning to face the grinning man as you push yourself up against the wall as if trying to force yourself through it.
He lifts his hand, placing it on your chin and using his thumb to brush over your cheek. "You're too adorable. You really are like… my prey."
God, the fear in your eyes…
His grin widens a bit more, and his hand slips to the front of your chin. You clench your eyes shut, hearing a gruff laugh before his chapped lips connect with your own. You tense, feeling his other hand grip your wrist, applying more and more pressure until you let out a pained noise, him taking the chance to slip his tongue into your mouth.
Your eyes stay shut until he finally separates, where you reluctantly open them once more, finding a very satisfied-looking William and a small string of saliva temporarily connecting your tongues. "Don't worry. It's not the end of us after just that." He assures.
The hand previously on your chin shifts to your hip, where his fingers press somewhat harshly against the cloth, holding you in place further. Leaning in once more, he grins at the tiny whimper that escapes you. Redirecting himself, he instead aims for a much more sensitive area.
You let out a gasp as you feel his lips against your neck, quietly hissing as he harshly bites down, his sharp canines drawing blood. After he has his fill of that, he follows it up by sucking on the spots he had just bit, you feeling your heartrate pick up even more.
The sound of your heavy, stuttering breaths in his ear certainly doesn’t discourage the man.
Still, he leans back, enjoying the sight of your reddened face as you reach up, covering your neck with your free hand. This, of course, wouldn’t be the end, but he needs to save the rest for later.
He steps back.
His grip on your wrist, while looser than before, is still firm as he begins to walk you back to the hall in front of the office. "Now, I have a little game for us to play. We've done it before, so I won't explain the rules. If you make it to 6, I'll let you leave. But if you don't…" He pauses, glancing over his shoulder at your panicked face, which he responds to with a smile. "Well, I'm sure you can guess."
Standing in front of the entrance to the office, he waits for you to hesitantly enter.
"As usual, I'll start in the back. Don't even try to escape, it's not gonna work. I broke the lock and that door isn't going to be breaking from anything but power tools."
You give a small nod, eyes shifting to the chair.
"Well, good luck. You'll most definitely need it."
You don't react to his voice, walking towards the chair as he begins his walk back.
You turn on your phone, checking the time and finding that fifteen minutes have already passed.
You can't call for help, if anyone came in they'd be killed by him. If he lived through an endoskeleton being shoved into him, he'll live through pretty much anything.
Still, you text your brother quickly.
You put your phone down, not caring about the wave of notifications that came from him spamming trying to get you to respond.
Pulling the camera pad out, you switch to where he normally starts right as he walks in. He sends a chilling smile up at the camera, eyes eerily glowing within the shadows.
"Let's begin!" He calls.
Immediately, your eyes widen as he reaches up, ripping the camera right off of the wall.
You feel your breathing pick up again as your heart pounds out of your chest.
You aren't going to make it.
When he dashes into the next room, you lead him back. He snarls. Briefly, before cam 10 gets ripped off of the wall, you see him glance at the vent.
Thankfully, he ignores it, running into the next room before you hit him with the sound again, rebooting audio and cameras tight as they go out.
"Fuck that guy for making this shit so 'authentic' it breaks down every two seconds!" You mumble to yourself.
William tears cam 8 down, running out once more. When you manage to catch him, he's in cam 4, and you lead him back with more audio.
"You won't keep this up, you know! You'll run out of cameras!" He laughs, the sound echoing in the building.
You frown as cam 5 goes out. You lead him back further, hearing the thumping of the vents and quickly switching your cameras to them, sealing off a vent thankfully just in time. His grin drops.
You check the time.
It's 2.
5 of 10 cameras have already been torn down, and you are unable to play audio from them.
He gets out of the vent surprisingly quickly, continuing his race to you.
When he reaches another vent, you block it off before he reaches the end. He rips off a camera that you haven't even used yet upon getting out. As soon as he sees cam 3, he rips it off as well.
You see the first sparks.
You lead him back again, he charges again.
The cameras start it.
You lead him back again, he charges again.
Soon enough the back half of the building is in flames, swallowing everything and coming for you faster than William could.
You have nowhere to lead him to but right outside your door, and he disappears.
Completely.
Not in any cameras, not in any vents, and not in your vision.
The smoke began to pile into your room, so you rip off a sleeve of an old jacket that was left and tie it around your nose and mouth, getting out of your chair to stay lower to the ground.
Frantically, you switch through everything again, continuing to look for him, but turning your head to the sound of a grate both thrown aside.
He went through the break room.
There, you meet eyes with William, who seems to be doing just fine in the intense heat that fills the attraction.
You quietly gasp, grabbing your throat as smoke fills it even with the makeshift cover. You wince, ripping the cloth off, finding William about three meters from your office. Frantically, you reach towards the vent close button, but when you press it, you hear the sound of failing machinery.
It was broken.
He broke it the first night, and now you would die because of it.
Blindly grasping for your phone, you send another message to your brother.
'Get fire help' is all you could type out before William pins you to the ground, you barely managing to send it.
Grabbing your phone out of your hand, William carelessly throws it into the wall, you wincing at the crunching noise.
"You know, back when I was alive, I did much research on souls. Every soul contains this little thing known as 'Remnant.' Now, Remnant is the only reason I'm alive. There's no way to destroy it, except for fire."
Your eyes widen.
"This building won't get hot enough to completely destroy our Remnant, so don't worry about that. Still, think of it like a metal. When it gets hot enough, it melts. It can meld into other people's Remnant."
You clench your teeth.
"Of course, there's no way I am going to destroy you. So, instead, I think I'll go with another option." He smirks.
You can feel your vision get hazy.
"Within this fire I will preserve your warmth, and we will be welded together."
Your lids droop as you feel your breaths become raspy.
You're going to die to the smoke, not to the fire that roared outside of your office, slowly inching its way in.
You let out a few more wheezes, feeling lips against your own before your vision goes black.
-
He gets the news less than an hour after he calls the fire department.
His brother, the only immediate family he had left, had died in the fire.
It doesn't take much thinking to figure out who did it.
William.
That man, that murderer, is going to pay.
However long it takes.
-----

Nothing For Me

Part 6|Part 8
You and MJ’s relationship continued to grow as time went on.
As she started her first year of high school, you worked on yourself, wanting to be good for her.
Overtime, you learned how to process and deal with things better. You focused on yourself and your developing relationship with MJ and needless to say, things started to look up.
The ‘present but not really present father’ thing didn’t affect you as much as it did, but it was still there. It was one of the only things you hadn’t fully processed and to be honest, you didn’t think you ever could.
Your father is there, and has been aware of presence for almost a decade. And not once has he given you any type of consolation or love like a father should. You would think after Pepper was getting more involved in his life and forcing him to clean up (most of) his act, he would open his eyes and realize that a whole human being was living with him, waiting for him to realize that they were supposed to be relying on him; not an AI built in the comfort of their room.
But nope. Absolutely nothing changed. If anything, things got worse.
He was away more often, focusing on the Avengers. Or he was with Pepper, the new love of his life.
You tried not to linger on the situation often, knowing it would only lead to pain in your chest. So you just stuffed it in the back of your mind, hoping one day that the pain would just lessen all together.
About two months ago, you and MJ had decided to make things official after going on your first date. At first you talked about how fast the two of you were going, but Michelle simply said ‘we’ll be u-haul lesbians then.’ That was the end of the conversation.
Currently, you and your girlfriend were facetiming. You would’ve made the trek to her house but she was about to study and you both knew that you’d distract her. Plus the two of you were due for some time away from each other considering the fact that you’re at her place almost everyday.
“Okay, so I found this recipe the other day and I’m just now remembering it.”
MJ looks at you confused, “Okay?”
     You roll your eyes playfully.
“I wanted to try it with you. After my ban from your place has been lifted.”
“It’s not a ban,” she chuckled.
“Well, it sure as hell feels like one ba-”     “Mr. Stark has arrived with a guest,” M.I.A cut you off.
     “Who is this guest?”
“Secretary of State, Thaddues Ross,” the AI replied, pulling up pictures of the man.
“Hey M, I’m gonna call you back.”
“Yeah, yeah,” she nods, looking a little concerned. “Take all the time you need. Let me know if everything’s okay.”
The two of you give your goodbyes and you ask M.I.A to pull up the live footage from the conference room.
“Perspective. The world owes the Avengers an un-payable debt. You have fought for us, protected us, risked your lives… but while a great a=many people see you as heroes, there are some who would prefer the word “vigilantes”, is what you first hear when you start watching.
Immediately your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“And what word would you use, Mr. Secretary?” Natasha asks.
“How about ‘dangerous’?” he replies. “What would you call a group of US-based, enhanced individuals who routinely ignore sovereign borders and inflict their will wherever they choose and who, frankly, seem unconcerned about what they leave behind?”
The secretary activates a screen behind him which begins to play the previous battles the Avengers and SHIELD have fought in.
     “New York.”
He clicks a button, footage of chitauri, shooting guns, and Hulk smashing plays.
     “Washington D.C”
A new video appears, showing the insight helicarriers firing at each other with chaos following.
     “Sokovia.”
The frame changes, showcasing the terrified citizens that were on the flying piece of land.
     “Lagos.”
     “That’s enough,” Steve interrupts.
Ross nods in response and begins his speech again.
“For the past four years, you’ve operated with unlimited power and no supervision. That’s an arrangement the governments of the world can no longer tolerate. But I think we have a solution.”
He places a thick document on the table and slides it across to Wanda. As the team slides the book to each other Ross starts talking.
“The Sokovia Accords. Approved by 117 countries… it states that the Avengers shall no longer be a private organization. Instead, they’ll operate under the supervision of a United Nations panel, only when and if that panel deems it necessary.”
“The Avengers were formed to make the world a safer place,” the Captain begins. “I feel we’ve done that.”
“Tell me, Captain, do you know where Thor and Banner are right now?” There was a momentary pause as the two men’s eyes met. “If I misplaced a couple of 30 megaton nukes… you can bet there’d be consequences. Compromise. Reassurance. That’s how the world works. Believe me, this is middle ground.”
At this point, you’re walking out of your room after transfering the feed to your tablet and making your way to the elevator.
“So, these are contingencies,” Rhodey states.
“Three days from now,” Secretary Ross begins. “The UN meets in Vienna to ratify the Accords. Talk it over.”
Natasha speaks up, “And if we don’t come to a decision you don’t like?”
     “Then you retire.”
The elevator stops and you look up seeing the Secretary walk in with someone behind him. You give him a subtle disgusted look before turning your attention back to the security footage.
As the deathtrap descends, you can feel his eyes lingering on you.
     “Can I help you?”
“You’re a little young to be an intern.”
“You’re a little old to be looking at me like that,” you shrug, swiping away from the video on your tablet as you feel him looking over your shoulder.
Ross gives an awkward chuckle and furrows his eyebrows. When you reach the bottom floor, he gets ready to step out and places a hand on your shoulder.
You look at him like he’s lost his mind.
“You seem like a good kid. Be sure to make good choices.”
Raising an eyebrow, you refrain from saying what you want to say. You lift your hand and gently take his off of you.
     “Don’t touch me,”
Once he exits, you hear the chatting start back up.
“Secretary Ross has a Congressional Medal of Honor,” Rhodes told Sam. “Which is one more than you have.
“So let’s say we agree to this thing,” Wilson starts. “How long is it gonna be before they LoJack us like a bunch of common criminals?”
“117 countries want to sign this. 117, Sam, and you’re just like, ‘No that’s cool. We got it.”
“I have an equation,” Vision announces as you get back on the elevator.
“Oh this will clear it up,” Sam mutters.
“In the eight years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man, the number of known enhanced persons has grown exponentially. And during the same period, the number of potentially world-ending events has risen at a commensurate rate.“
“Toaster oven’s got a point there,” you mumble, stepping back on the metal deathtrap.
Steve asks,“Are you saying it’s our fault?”
“I’m saying there may be a causality. Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge incites conflict. And conflict… breeds catastrophe. Oversight… oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand.”
     “Boom,” Rhodey says.
You see Tony lying on the couch, quite relaxed, contradicting the tense atmosphere.
“Tony,” Nat starts. “You are being uncharacteristically non-hyper-verbal.”
“It’s because he’s already made up his mind,” Steve explained.
“Boy, you know me so well,” Stark starts, getting up and rubbing the back of his head. “Actually I’m nursing an electromagnetic headache,” he pauses to grab a mug of coffee. “That’s what’s going on, Cap. It’s just pain. It’s discomfort. Who’s putting coffee grounds in the disposal? Am I running a bed and breakfast for a biker gang?”
Tony puts his phone in a basket and taps the screen. An image is projected of a smiling young man.
“Oh, that’s Charles Spencer, by the way. He’s a great kid. Computer engineering degree, 3.6 GPA. Had a floor level gig at Intel planned for the fall. But first, he wanted to put a few miles on his soul, before he parked it behind a desk. See the world. Maybe be of service. Charlie didn’t want to go to Vegas or Fort Lauderdale, which is what I would do. He didn’t go to Paris or Amsterdam, which sounds fun. He decided to spend his summer building sustainable housing for the poor. Guess where, Sokovia.”
He pauses for a second as the team soaks in the information.
“He wanted to make a difference, I suppose. I mean, we won’t know because we dropped a building on him while we were kicking ass.
“There’s no decision-making process here. We need to be put in check! Whatever form that takes, I’m game. If we can’t accept limitations, if we’re boundary-less, we’re no better than the bad guys.”
“Tony, someone dies on your watch, you don’t give up,” Steve rebuttals.
     “Who said we’re giving up?”
“We are if we’re not taking responsibility for our actions. This document just shifts the blame.”
“I’m sorry. Steve,” Rhodey blurted. “That-that is dangerously arrogant. This is the United Nations we’re talking about. It’s not the World Security Council, it’s not SHIELD, it’s not HYDRA.”
“No, but it’s run by people with agendas, and agendas change.”
“That’s good,” Tony starts. “That’s why I’m here. When I realized what my weapons were capable of in the wrong hands, I shut it down and stopped manufacturing.
“Tony, you chose to do that. If we sign this, we surrender our right to choose. What if this panel sends us somewhere we don’t think we should go? What if there is somewhere we need to go, and they don’t let us? We may not be perfect, but the safest hands are still our own.”
“If we don’t do this now, it’s gonna be done to us later. That’s a fact. That won’t be pretty.”
Wanda finally speaks up, “You’re saying they’ll come for me.”
“We would protect you,” Vision promised.
“Maybe Tony’s right,” the redhead speaks. “If we have one hand on the wheel, we can still steer. If we take it off--”
“Aren’t you the same woman who told the government to kiss her ass a few years ago?” Sam interrupts.
“I’m just… I’m reading the terrain. We have made… some very public mistakes. We need to win their trust back.
“Focus up,” Tony says. “I’m sorry, did I just mishear or did you agree with me?”
“Oh, I want to take it back now.”
“No, no, no. You can’t retract it. Thank you. Unprecedented. Okay, case-closed--I win.”
From what you see, Steve stands to leave abruptly.
You then walk out of the elevator, tablet still in hand with the footage up. The captain walks past you just as you turn the corner and spot the team.
     “Someone’s upset,” you hum.
You walk past everyone towards the fridge and grab a water bottle.
“Anyway, that was very childish. And kinda stupid.”
Inquisitive looks are thrown your way and you hold up the tablet awkwardly as you plop down on a chair.
“I was watching you. I kinda do that a lot. It’s not as creepy as it sounds.”
You open the bottle and take a sip.
“What are you doing down here kid--”
“Ahhh,” you interrupt. “Don’t call me a kid. I haven’t been a child for years.”
“Just answer the question,” Tony snaps.
“I like to stay informed. No one tells me anything and while you think that these private meetings only affect you, it doesn’t. It affects me too. You may not remember I’m your child but several people do. And that puts me in danger. So yes, I listen to your conversations to make sure it’s nothing I need to worry about.”
An awkward silence washes over as you gulp down more water.
“Anyway, I was just riding up and down the elevator waiting for you guys to finish. That Ross dude is kinda creepy by the way. But you’re really considering signing that thing?”
“Not you too,” your father mutters.
You let out a laugh and everyone looks at you strangely.
“Is this funny to you?” Rhodey asks.
“Yes,” you stop laughing abruptly. “I find it hilarious that this is the same government that was ready to drop a nuke on the city during the Battle of New York not giving a damn about a single civilian that was still in the area. I find it hilarious that this is the same government that lets thousands of children and women of color go missing and not do a thing about it. It’s funny that this is the same government that let HYDRA, Red Room, AIM; all that shit grow right under their nose. It’s funny because this government is the same one that uses taxpayer money for dumb ass projects and unnecessary military funding instead of using it to fund shit that helps the civilians they claim they care so much about. I mean how can you not find this situation amusing?”
     “Look,” Tony attempts.
“I’m not finished,” you challenge, looking him dead in the eyes. “This government don’t give a damn about y’all, especially not the three of us,” you say, gesturing to yourself, Sam, and Rhodey. “We’d be booted out of this country before you could even blink if they ever got the chance and you know that.
“I don’t know why y’all are so adamant on gaining the government’s trust when they don’t give a flying fuck about you or these goddamn civilians. All they care about is power. They don’t care how many civilians come up missing or die in some tragic accident. It doesn’t matter what happens. When they see someone becoming richer or smarter or more powerful than they are, they will do anything to shut that shit down.
“I don’t understand how you can’t see that. And maybe it’s just me. Maybe it’s just me and my experience,” you pause, catching the gaze of every person in the room with hard eyes. You take a deep breath and try to calm down. “Sign it if you want to. Think about how many lives you’ll lose then.”
You stand from your spot and walk into the open elevator, ready to get to the comfort of your bed.
-
It had been two days since the initial meeting and you were currently sitting on Michelle’s bed watching her read.
“You’re really pretty,” you muttered out of the blue.
You saw your girlfriend’s cheeks develop a subtle red tint as she mumbled back a ‘thank you, and continued reading. You groan and gently pull the book out of her hands.
     “Hey,” she quietly protests.
“Please,” you pout, holding your arms out as an invitation.
MJ fondly rolls her eyes before lowering herself onto you. You hummed contently and squeezed her before planting a kiss on her cheek.
She surprised you by turning her head and giving you a lingering kiss. That one kiss soon turned into something more.
Michelle gently pushed you onto your back and straddled your hips. Bending down she kissed you once again, her lips gliding with yours.
This continued for a few minutes, taking small breaks in between to breathe. You don’t think you could ever get enough of her and hoped that she was feeling similarly.
You kissed until your jaws hurt. The euphoric feeling still lingered as MJ rested her forehead against yours, trying to catch her breath.
“We should do that again sometime,” you mumbled.
Your girlfriend nodded in response, giving one more chaste kiss to your lips before dropping to your side.
“Tomorrow,” she said after glancing at the clock that read 10:47.
“Guess I’m spending the night then.”
“I have no problem with that.”
-
The next day, you were awoken by beeping from your phone. Once you were fully aware of your surroundings you picked up the device and read the notifications that M.I.A sent through. Scanning through them, you sat up with urgency and played the video.
“A bomb hidden in a news van ripped through the UN building in Vienna. More than 70 people have been injured. At least 12 are dead, including Wakanda’s King T’Chaka. Officials have released a video of a suspect who they have identified as James Buchanan Bares, the Winter Soldier. The infamous HYDRA agent, linked to numerous acts of terrorism and political assassinations.”
Carefully removing Michelle’s arm from around your waist, you stand up and move to the corner of the room. You press the contact and hold the phone up to your ear.
“Nat what the fuck is going on?”
You hear the woman sigh on the other side of the phone.     “Look, just… stay wherever you are.”
“Yeah, okay, whatever. I want answers, Nat.”
“(Y/n),” she says firmly. “Calm down and go back to whatever you were doing. Right now, this does not concern you and I would like it to stay that way. Do you understand me?”
There was some silence, before you let out a forced chuckle.
     “Okay, whatever. Bye.”
     “(Y/n) c’mo--”
You disconnected the call and gently tossed the phone onto MJ’s desk.     “You sound stressed.”
Turning around to face the bed, you see Michelle sat up and leaning against the headboard. You nod slowly and crawl your way up towards her.
     “I am.”
You feel her hand take hold of your clenched ones and she rubs them, causing you to relax slightly.
“There was a um, bombing at the--the um… signing thing. And no one wants to tell me what’s going on, so,” you end the sentence, shrugging.
MJ’s head drops onto your shoulder and you let her cuddle close.
“They told me to stay where I was. So hopefully we can get something good out of that.”
There was no response and you thought she had fallen back asleep, but you were proven wrong when your girlfriend started getting up.
“C’mon,” she instructed, holding her hand out when she saw the look of confusion on your face.
Taking her hand, the two of you made your way to the kitchen.
She turned around and grabbed your shoulders.
“We are going to make some breakfast… or lunch whatever. And then we are going to binge watch until we can binge watch no longer. Alright?”
You nod your head, chuckling and then got to work.
-
It had been days since you last heard from anyone. No updates from Natasha. M.I.A even told you there hasn’t even been a great deal of movement in the compound. Today you decided you would head back.
When you arrived it was quiet. As you walked down the halls you heard distant chatter and followed it.
Turning the corner, you were surprised at what you saw.
     “What the hell happened?”
The two men turned to look your way, but you were given no answers.
Tony had bruises on his face and he looked more tense than usual. Rhodey had some sort of tech on his legs.
“You fought them. You fought them all, didn’t you?”
Both men looked away and avoided your gaze.
“You didn’t even listen to what I said. This is what the government does. I tried to tell you, but you didn’t even fucking listen,” you ranted, your voice slightly raising.
“Us breaking apart wasn’t the government. Most of this is on some guy th--”
“Well the government allowed it to happen so I’d say it is their fault!”
You turned to your father with pleading eyes.
     “Where are they, Tony?”
     “Kid, they’re criminals now, I don’t--”
“Stop calling me that! I’m--I’m not some kid. I’m not your kid,” you let out a frustrated breath. “You--you couldn’t talk it out? Like mature adults? You just had to go assert your dominance somewhere--in what? An--an airport? Some vacant lot? You just had to fight. Do you not know how to communicate?”
You looked at the two men, shook your head, and brushed past them.
     Just when things were alright.
-
     “(Y/n)?”
     “What M.I.A?”
You were currently laying in your bed trying to control the tears that were begging to fall from your eyes due to the amount of overwhelming shit you had been hit with. You talked with MJ for a little while and while it helped a bit, you honestly were still feeling like… well shit.
     “There’s a package for you.”
Furrowing your eyebrows, you head down to where the mail is usually placed, get the package with your name on it, and head back to your room.
Grabbing a pair of scissors, you cut the tape and open the box. Inside was a letter and a phone.
     Hey sweetheart.
     It was Natasha’s handwriting.
I’m sorry. I really am. We all are. I wish things wouldn’t have ended this way, but they did and we can’t really do anything about it now.
I listened to what you said. I listened and I tried my best to understand. I don’t think I ever wanted to sign the accords in the first place. The only reason I did so was so that we could stay together. So that I could stay with you. This team is the only family I’ve had in a long time. The fact that that stack of papers could end that scared me.
I just kept trying to convince myself that signing the Accords was the right thing to do; anything to keep this team together. Anything to keep everything from falling apart.
But the more I thought about it, I realized. You were right. Everything you said. This government doesn’t care. And if the government doesn’t care like they’re supposed to then we need to. People need the government, but they don’t have it. They do have us though. And they always will.
I love you. I didn’t say it enough and I don’t know when or if I’ll ever get to tell you that again. You are so precious to me and I’m sorry I couldn’t stay. If you ever need anything, you can always give me a call.
You wiped your eyes and gently picked up the phone. You held it in your hands for a moment before setting it down. You folded the letter back up neatly and placed both items in the top drawer of your nightstand.
You laid back down on your bed with less tears on your face.

The sound of the rain steadily increasing was the only sound in your apartment as you waited patiently for your boyfriend. Your laptop displayed that it was midnight as you lazily scribbled statistics solutions onto the notes app of your tablet. Once you felt you reached a stopping point you got up to find a long sleeve to stave off the cold that seeped into the apartment from the storm. Striding over to your closet to pull out something to remind you of him. As you grabbed his signature grey shirt, you were immediately hit with the soft scent of cedar-wood. It was thin and soft from years of use. It hung loosely and brought you a sort of comfort as you counted down the minutes ‘til he got home. You weren’t a sorcerer, but you were well aware of the dangers that your friends went out and faced, and the panic in the back of your mind grew louder as the hours passed since Megumi had walked out of the door.
You stifled a yawn as you finally heard the lock to your front door click open and shut. You closed your eyes and stretched your back to loosen the knots that formed from doing your homework on the living room floor. As you made your way to the door to greet your boyfriend, he was frantically kicking his shoes off and stripping himself of his jacket.
“Hey love, how was it?” you said softly while reaching for his rain-soaked torso. He flinched away from your touch, eyes wide and afraid. His blue eyes scan your confused face before he blinks slowly and takes a shuddering breath.
“Sorry, I didn’t expect you to still be up.” He pressed a quick kiss to your forehead before retreating to the bathroom. The smell of blood, dirt, and god knows what else isn’t lost on you as he tries to pass you quickly. You bend to pick his jacket off of the floor where he had tossed it in his haste, and walk to your shared bedroom to put it in the laundry basket. You open the drawers to his side of the dresser to pull out his favorite sweats and a plain white tee-shirt, before gently placing them on the bathroom counter where he is aggressively scrubbing his face.
“You’re gonna get sick if you stay in those wet clothes much longer,” you say oh so matter of factly before pushing up on your toes to kiss the corner of his jaw. Your movements take him slightly off guard, which you use to your advantage to nudge him to a sitting position on the bench next to the shower. You run a washcloth under the warm water of the sink, move to stand between his legs, and gently brush the cloth against his temple. He closes his eyes and leans into your touch. You both sit in silence as you wipe the remnants of sweat and blood off of his face and neck. You notice the way he's holding your waist, hands so light his touch is barely there. Like he’s afraid you'll break if he makes a wrong move. After you finish wiping his face and neck, you tug at the hem of his soaked shirt and he complies with your wordless command to take it off. You step back out of the bathroom to toss it into the basket with his Jujustu Tech jacket.
When you walk back in, his head is leaning against the cool wall, letting you fully take stock of the bruises and cuts adorning the top half of his body. The worst of it looks like a slight split at the corner of his bottom lip and a shallow cut above one of his brows. You stride over to him and run your fingers through his black hair. “Baby,” you crooned softly. He gave a soft hum in acknowledgment as you nuzzled your nose into the top of his head. “I love you but you smell like a sewer, can you please shower before you fall asleep?” He sticks his tongue out playfully as you back away from him so he can stand up and move towards the shower.
Though his normal stoic behavior wouldn’t concern you, you still can’t shake the terrified look on his face when he first entered the apartment. How tense he’s holding himself and the way that he’s obviously trying not to worry you. His eyes linger on your face like he’s trying to memorize every aspect of it before he drops his gaze and shakes whatever thought he had out of his head.
You settle back on the living room floor between the coffee table and the couch and turn your attention back to your college notes. You only have time to pick your stylus back up before your phone starts vibrating in your pocket. You look down and see Itadori’s name scrawled across the screen along with a picture of him smiling next to your grouchy-looking boyfriend.
“Hey Yuuji, what’s up?”
“Hey y/n, I know it's late but I just wanted to make sure Fushiguro got back okay.”
“Yeah, he’s in the shower. Do you want me to have him call you when he’s out?”
“No… I just… did he seem okay when he got back?”
You chewed on the corner of your mouth for a second, “I mean, he seemed kinda unsettled but that’s not unusual for when he comes back from your guys' missions.”
“Yeah… yeah you’re right. I don’t know, he just seemed off after everything. Never mind.”
You hear the water shut off in the other room and quirk a brow. “Yuuji you better spit it out or else I’m gonna come over there and start cutting your fingers off! What are you not telling me?”
“On that note, I gotta go. Just talk to him, okay?”
“Wait Yuuji-” the line goes dead before you can press him with more questions. You stuff your phone back into your pocket and tap your stylus on your tablet for a couple of minutes. Just talk to him. Gore and violence are nothing new to Megumi, and he isn’t easily fazed, so what would shake him so bad that even Yuuji is worried?
You’re pulled from your thoughts both literally and figuratively when you feel a pair of muscular arms lift you onto the couch behind you. You are once again settled between your boyfriend's legs as you’re pressed against his strong chest. You yelp and try to wiggle out of his grasp but his years of training with the other Jujustu Sorcerers, even after graduating, leave him with an iron grip on your hips.
“Hang on let me grab my notes,” you protest. He presses his face into your neck and whines. After a few moments of struggling against him, you manage to snatch your tablet and pen off the ground and open it to your last question. You adjust yourself so your shoulder is against his chest and you can lazily drape your legs over his thigh. He rests his cheek against the crown of your head and readjusts his arms around you so he can still hold you tightly while not blocking your view of your classwork. You scribble notes for a few more minutes before deciding that him falling asleep in this position will mean him complaining of a sore neck in the morning, what with the awkward way it's twisted to lean against you. You could feel his body getting heavier against your own. You remembered what Yuuji had told you, and in an effort to keep him awake, you decided to ask what had been nagging you since he got back home.
“Are you okay?” All you get in response is another hum from your barely awake boyfriend. You shift again and reach up to run your fingers through his still-damp hair, “‘Gumi, baby, you shouldn't fall asleep here. Let’s go to bed.” He chuckles lightly at the nickname you gave him way back when you first started dating, and how you save it for private moments like this.
“I just wanna hold you for a bit longer, I promise we’ll get up soon.” Megumi finally murmurs. You don’t miss the way his jaw clenches as you try to fix your gaze upon him. You sigh and set your tablet down before turning to straddle Megumi’s lap and force him to look at you.
“What’s wrong, you’re more distant than usual?” You rest your hands on either side of his face and turn him to look at you. He avoids eye contact and suddenly you’re looking at the guarded 16-year-old boy who refused to open up to anyone when you first met. You lean to rest your forehead against his as he focuses his gaze somewhere between your jaw and the base of your throat. “Please talk to me? What happened out there?”
Megumi struggles internally on how much to tell you. You mindlessly stroke his cheeks with your thumbs and he finds himself settling his hands back on your waist again, with the same feather-light touch that you would use with glass. Finally, you get his answer in the form of a whisper.
“I’m scared I’m gonna lose you…”
You immediately pull your head back to look at him straight on only to be met with a faraway gaze. You furrow your brows together and squeeze his face just enough to get his attention. His eyes snap to yours and you can see the tears starting to prick at the corners. “I’m not going anywhere ‘Gumi.” You smile at him before pulling him closer to you and he buries his face into your neck.
“Fuck, that’s not what I meant. I’m scared I’m putting you in danger,” his voice is starting to waver, “You didn’t ask for this, any of this. I’m gone all the time, always on missions constantly putting both our lives in danger. I can’t even imagine what would happen if one of the special grades were to find out about you. It’s bad enough Sukuna knows you.” His voice cracked at the end of his sentence and you feel his chest shudder.
He wraps his arms around you and pulls you closer to him. You nudge his face away from your shoulder and see the tears he’s been holding back finally fall. The only other time you can remember him crying like this was when he thought Yuji died. You go back to stroking his face and shushing him but it's too late, the dam is broken and he can no longer hold back the sobs.
“What if I can’t protect you?” He continues to choke out his fears while you keep stroking his face lovingly and whispering soft reassurances to him that everything is going to be okay and you’re both safe. You let him cry into your chest until his strangled sobs slowly turn into soft sniffles.
“Feeling any better baby?” You gently push at his shoulders and lean him back again so you can look at him. He nods hesitantly and lets you wipe any remaining tears from under his now puffy eyes.
“Yeah, I’m sorry, I’m just tired and I guess everything kinda boiled over all at once,” he sighs. You lean down to press a soft kiss to his lips and he instantly melts into it.
“Don’t be sorry Megumi, you can talk to me about anything.” You press another kiss to his forehead and continue rubbing small circles into his jaw to loosen the tension there. After a few moments of holding each other silently, you pipe your voice up again. “Yuji called, he seemed worried. Did something happen tonight?”
You felt Megumi go stiff underneath you before quickly relaxing into your touch again. “Itadori started to lose control and Sukuna was just being a dick, per usual.” You inhale sharply and try to remove yourself from his grasp, you are gonna kill those two one of these days. As if he could read your mind Megumi quickly grabbed your wrists effectively pinning you against his chest once again. “Okay no, stop it. Nothing happened, he was just being mouthy and trying to wind me up. Obviously, it worked...”
“I don’t give a shit what Sukuna says and neither should you. If by some miracle he is able to get out of their pact, Gojo and Yuji would never let anything happen, and neither would you.” You press your forehead against his again since he still has a firm grip on your wrists to keep you from moving away from him. “I don’t care what you think, the safest place for me is right here with you. Sukuna is just bitter that he’s in a cage so he’s decided to make it everyone else's problem.” Megumi chuckles lightly again before releasing your hands and replacing his arms around your waist.
“We should go to bed, you have class in the morning.” He sighs. You crane your neck to see it’s well past 2 am, you stretch again to release the last couple of cracks in your spine and your boyfriend takes the opportunity to nip at your collarbones and make you squirm against him.
“If you stop doing that I’ll stay home with you instead, deal?” He jerks his face away from your chest and gives you the biggest puppy dog eyes you’ve ever seen.
“Are you sure? You have exams this week right?”
“There’s no point in going to a lecture if I’m just gonna fall asleep. I’ll study for my exams tomorrow after I wake up, but I’m planning on sleeping in tomorrow. Both of us need it.” He hums in agreement before trying to lift himself off the couch with you still in his arms. You gasp in surprise as you feel him wobble and stumble back into the couch cushions, tucking you into his neck with a hand to the back of your head to keep your faces from colliding.
You look at each other and let out a chorus of laughter. You shake your head before pinching his nose gently. “For someone so smart, you are so fucking dumb sometimes.” He scrunches up his face and swats your hand away as you peel yourself out of his arms and off his lap.
“You know, I’ve done it before and I was confident I could do it again. Also, I gotta keep my pretty girl on her toes.” This time it was your turn to swat his hand away as he grabbed at your thighs and rear. You rolled your eyes comically at him and moved towards the bedroom. He jumps up, throws you over his shoulder, before unceremoniously plopping you on the bed with a speed you’ve only ever seen him possess. He hovers over you as he presses his mouth against you in a rushed, teeth-clashing kiss. You push at his shoulder so he can dramatically flop on his back and open his arms expectantly.
“Give me a sec to change, I’ll be right back.” He whines like a child when you grab your pajama shorts and a tank top from the top of the dresser and stride into the bathroom. You’ve never known anyone to be as handsy as Megumi. He hates PDA and would never in a million years let strangers see through his cold, tough exterior. In the comfort of your home though, you quickly learned that he can never keep his hands to himself and they tend to wander on their own. He always wants to be touching you when you’re home together and he’ll whine and pout if he can’t. You can never find it in your heart to turn down his affection, especially on nights like this when he is feeling vulnerable and needs reassurance. Those nights are few and far between but you indulge your boyfriend in anything he needs whenever his facade starts to crack and you get glimpses of the version of him that he keeps carefully tucked away.
You pull your jeans and his sweater off and quickly throw your pajamas on. You toss your clothes into the basket from the door and find your boyfriend sprawled on your side of the bed scrolling through his phone. You poke the middle of his back and yank the blanket, covering him from the waist down, to what's supposed to be his side of the bed. His jaw drops in mock offense before he's pulling your front flush against his chest once again.
His lips latch onto yours again as he's tangling his legs with yours and threading his hands through your hair. You bring your hands under his shirt to stroke your fingertips lightly against his sides as his kisses grow needier and more urgent. One of his hands leaves your hair to grip your hips as he rolls his own into you desperately. You bring one hand to press against his chest lightly and move away from him for air.
“Baby please…” he looks like he's on the verge of begging. His heart pounds heavily under your fingers on his chest. You press a quick kiss to the tip of his nose.
“‘Gumi, you’re exhausted and very emotional right now, just go to sleep.” His bottom lip sticks out in a cute pout and you lift your hand to run your thumb over his protruding bottom lip. “I promise I will be here in the morning and we have all day tomorrow to hang out and do anything you want.”
His brows quirk up and his mouth pulls into a smirk. “Anything?” He drops his head to try and catch your lips again but you evade him.
“Anything, if you go to sleep right now and wait ‘til morning.” He scrunches his nose up and huffs pathetically before moving to tuck one arm under your head and wrap the other around your waist protectively. You nuzzle your face into his chest to breathe in the usual smell of cedar-wood and a lingering scent of rain. One of your hands is tucked under his jaw while the other slips back beneath his shirt to keep tracing patterns up and down his sides. He shivers at the featherlight touch of your fingertips but melts into the hand you have on his face.
You can feel his breath growing more rhythmic and you glance up to see his eyes fluttering shut. You press one last kiss to his jaw before murmuring a quiet “I love you” into his chest. He squeezes the arm that's around your waist to pull you impossibly closer to him before you drift to sleep.
“I love you too baby. I promise I’ll always protect you.”

Not That Bad
Leonard McCoy x Reader
Summary: You have the severity of your injuries in a twist sending Leonard McCoy’s blood pressure through the roof
TW: injury descriptions and strong language
ft. bestie Jim Kirk <333
Masterlist!
Word Count: 1737
“Yes. No. I understand Mr Spock. Cuttings on your desk in 40 minutes. Got it.” You closed your comm and checked your watch.
You’d spent 16 hours Planetside and after a complication that had landed most crew in the MedBay, you agreed to help out botany to complete the mission report. Really you didn’t have a clue what you were doing but you concluded it couldn’t be that hard.
Cross referencing the plants in front of you to the list on your PADD, you picked up the plier looking utensil and began clipping the stems from the root.
“Maybe I should transfer to science.” You muttered to yourself after you’d successfully pressed the first few cuttings into their sample bags.
Taking the next stem between your fingers you picked up the pliers and cut through the green and your fingertip, simultaneously. Blood shot upwards from your finger. You scoffed at the inconvenience.
You grabbed the first aid kit and examined the content that your Chief Medical Officer boyfriend had once talked you through and began to wish you’d listened.
Failing to remember anything, you wrapped a plaster around the top of your finger and watched it turn from white to red almost immediately. You tried layering another on top which bled through just as fast. After a failed third layer you took yourself from the lab and started towards the MedBay.
You stopped for a moment scouring your brain for which corridors to take. It had been so long since you’d actually journeyed to the MedBay by choice. You’d been utilising your doctor shared quarters.
Arriving at the desk you checked your watch again. 20 minutes before Spock was expecting you. You began to panic and turned to the receptionist.
“Could you ask Doctor McCoy to see me? It’s pretty urgent.” You said, grabbing a bundle of tissues from the display to contain the droplets falling from your finger.
The receptionist did as you asked and you heard Leonard through the comm.
 “On the bridge?” He asked.
“No, Sir. Here in the MedBay.” The receptionist in front of you responded.
“In the Med-“ You heard a fuss beginning through the comm and then a room number you were to be assigned.
No sooner had you arrived, a half scrubbed in Leonard burst through the door desperately searching for what heinous emergency had beckoned you to his MedBay.
“Are you being serious right now!?” Leonard asked ripping off the last of his scrub uniform.
“Always good to see you too, Lee.” You responded, smiling.
Sighing softly he shot you an apologetic look and planted a kiss on your cheek.
“Hi, darlin’” He whispered letting down his doctor guard and allowing his southern drawl back in. He began to look you over again, “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
You lifted your hand removing the tissue to reveal your slightly bloodied finger. Leonard took a step back rubbing his temples.
“Y/N, darlin’. PUT A PLASTER ON IT?!”
“I tried that! It keeps bleeding though!” You whined.
“There are people DYING in here, Y/N.”
“Oh go on, please. I have lab work due in 15 minutes and I can’t work with this bleeding all over the samples!”
Leonard sighed and moved to the other side of the room to collect the dermal regenerator. Taking your hand in his he kissed the cut before placing it under the machine.
He caught your eyes with his. “I left a 6 hour surgery for this.”
 -
The next day you took your healed finger with you on your next mission where your team successfully released several hostages and transported their authoritative grasp to Enterprise Security.
“All clear, Jim.” You said to your comm after clearing the last room on your final check.
“Received. Take the turbolift to the bridge and let’s get out of here.”
Stepping into the foreign tube you found it very similar to Starfleet’s and got it moving towards the bridge. You began to hear Jim’s voice on the other side before the lift stumbled to a halt.
“Um, Jim?” You shouted through the metal.
“Great.” Jim said clocking the flashing error sign on the lift. “Don’t worry Lieutenant. We’ll... pry it open.”
“Full proof.” You said to yourself, getting ready to pull from your side.
After a brief plan outline and a countdown you began to pull. A small gap opened to the side and you managed to squeeze your body through before the door clattered closed on your newly regenerated finger.
“Again?! Why is it always you?” You asked your finger, pulling it from the metals grip and eying the purple residue left on it.
“Me?” Jim asked, doubled over from the effort he’d just exerted, before being distracted by his comm, “Bones! Yes, just calling to let you know of the ZERO injuries incoming to the MedBay!”
“Zero injuries?” You cut him off. “This is a broken bone for sure.”
“Oh my god.” Jim said in disgust looking at the weird purple oil all over the metal, your finger and subsequently his uniform. “Why is it that colour?!”
“Dammit, Jim.” You heard through the comm before Leonard hung up and Jim reconnected to the transporter room.
You arrived back on the transporter pad to Leonard’s eyes burning a hole in you and pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Broken bone?” He said walking towards you.
“This bastard finger.” You said and Leonard took your wrist to examine it.
“THIS-“ He stopped abruptly and calmed himself. “This is a finger, Y/N. BARELY a bone.” He examined it further, “I’m not even convinced that’s broken?”
“Tell you what though, it really fucking hurts.” You petted your lip at him.
Slipping an arm around your waist he led you out of the transporter room and towards the MedBay. “Let’s get you patched up sweetheart, but we really have to talk about your hyperbole.”
 -
It was a few days before you were due to arrive at your next destination and Jim had roped you into helping with his ensign combat training.
“It’s basically target practice.” Jim said in conclusion to a confused looking group of redshirts. “The phasers I’ve given you won’t shoot, but will read on the side if you’ve hit your target. It’s like laser tag! You’ve all played laser tag, right?” The room was silent. “And that’s another added to the list of shore leave activities.”
“Captain Kirk and I will be over here as moving targets.” You started, taking over from Jim. “Try and shoot me without hitting the Captain. Got it?”
You and Jim moved over to the course beginning the same choreographed fight you’d been using for years. You heard the pathetic fake phaser shots over and over and were beginning to question almost all of your life choices as a deafening shot fired and struck your side.
“Y/N!” Jim fell to your side, “PHASERS DOWN!” He shouted to the group briefly trying to determine which one hadn’t followed his only instruction ‘Do not bring your own phaser.’
There was a small commotion before you heard Jim’s voice again. “Kirk to MedBay I need a team to training room 1 immediately.”
You found yourself back in the same biobed you’d frequented for past 3 days consecutively and tried to keep up with the nurses’ quick conversations.
“Someone page McCoy now.” You heard one of them say.
“Not Leonard-“ You interrupted, “He’ll jus- is there anyone else?”
“Not anyone who could patch you up like Doctor McCoy.” One of the nurses stated opening their comm. “Doctor McCoy to room 6. On the double. It’s-“
“Lieutenant Y/L/N?” Leonard cut off the nurse.
 “Yes.” She replied.
“For once I’m not even surprised.”
The nurses continued fussing around you and your biobed beeps became angrier.
You watched the door open and Leonard’s face turn from passiveness to urgency in a millisecond.
“My god!” He shouted, dropping his board and beginning to order nurses to different machines connected to your bed.
“Listen, Leonard it’s not THAT bad.”
“NOT THAT BAD?! YOU’VE BEEN SHOT?!”  Leonard flicked his eyes between you and your vitals.
“Yeah, but, shot in a controlled environment.”
“You’ve been in here with a cut and a stave, guns blazing, and now you’ve been shot it’s ‘NOT THAT BAD?!’”
“Granted this doesn’t look-“ You were cut off by a wave of pain that sent you wincing.
“Hell.” Leonard turned to his own station briefly. “You’re not gonna like this sweetheart but you can tell me all about it when you’re back in one piece.” Leonard planted a kiss on your head and a hypo in your neck, sending you into sleep.
-
Coming back to, you heard your biobed beeping at a normal rhythm and a strong accent beside you.
“I don’t care what his test scores are, he shot a Lieutenant I want him gone.”
 “Leonard.” You scolded.
“Darlin’” He moved to you instantly closing his comm without a word. “How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine. Sore neck.” You said rubbing where he’d hypo’d you. His eyes were still racked with worry. “It was an accident. That’s why we train them we-“
“Darlin’ if he isn’t removed from this ship the only accident will be me prescribing him with cyanid capsules instead of his iron tablets.” He looked over your vitals again before picking up his clipboard, “But you let me worry about that. You can worry about this.” He handed you a laminated sheet entitled ‘Doctor McCoy’s Guide to a Serious Injury.’
You shot him an annoyed look.
“Just so there’s no more confusion.” He winked at you. You glanced over the ‘Serious Injury: To Be Reported’ column.
“I hardly think ‘A sudden cough’ is a serious injury, Leonard.” You scoffed.
“Oh sure. Let’s just let your DNA de-evolve into non humane codes exterminating crucial pairings.”
“Noted.” You said admiring the doctor’s bedside manner, “Is there a second page?” You said spotting another sheet in his hand.
“No. This is Jim’s copy.” Leonard replied.
 “Of course.”
Leonard brushed your hair behind your ears and smoothed your forehead. “I’m glad you’re finally visiting the MedBay doll, but I would prefer if you kept your trips to mandatory immunisations and essential check-ups.”
“I wouldn’t hold your breath, Doctor.” You said brushing your lips against his.
“And somehow I still wouldn’t change you for the world.” Leonard said quietly before closing the space left between you.

They’re bringing someone to Fruit’s cell.
He can tell because his is all the way at the end of the prison barracks, deepest into the heart of the mountain. Much easier to contain if he’s perpetually half-dazed from the dust and dull metallic tang in the air. He hears the clanking and scraping of iron dragging across the cold slate floor, echoing past the tunnels where the cells of the other fighters are held.
The floor-scratching is joined by snapping and growling when they draw nearer; he flattens his ears and tenses in anticipation. Of all the days to be confronted with the prospect of something new in his cell--today is decidedly not one where he’s prepared. Not when he’s still licking his wounds from the bitter matches hed fought, one of which he’d have to buy more bandages for. Not when he’s anticipating the rest of the inevitable fight with the ender dragon they’d introduced to the arena today, a looming ominous challenge.
(He’s never fought an ender dragon before; there’d been wyverns, chimeras, a few guardians when they flooded the pits with seawater. When his wounds heal, he looks forward to killing it, decorating his bloody list of achievements.)
He gets up from the shadowed corner of his cell, paces back and forth in front of the rough-hewn bars. The guard that appears first is familiar face, and they’ve seen each other enough that outright hostility is a boring effort. Instead, they both play at some kind of disinterest. “So what’s it gonna be today?”
Fruit’s eyes flick up. “Bandages, some bread.” He does his part with the apathy in his tone.
He hears the scratch against the tablet the guard holds. “25 tallies for bandages, 5 for bread.” The scratching stops. “Sure you don’t want anything else?”
Medicinal ointment, Fruit thinks. Warmer clothing. But he won’t be getting either--because many of the things he’d want aren’t for sale, or he can’t afford if he doesn’t want to slowly bleed tallies. “I’m good.” he says instead.
“100 tallies from forfeiting a match, 17 from your winnings.”  The roll of bandages lands in his cell with a thump. Fruit twitches, stretches foward to snag the bread before it falls.
He winces, because he’s set back another 2 weeks, maybe even further, if the matches slow down. But he doesn’t have time to dwell on it because the guard stumbles away with a shout, blood and torn fabric splattering the ground. Two other guards appear and they march a beautifully inhuman creature up to the cell, chains jingling and clanking all the way.
Fruit’s eyes flick over the new arrival. He has feathery, raven-black hair matted with blood, and two curling horns chipped and smeared in gore, dark purple stained red and brown. He tosses his head and lets out a low growl, and the guards shake as they try to pin him in place; pale, cold dragon’s breath leaks out of the side of an clamped muzzle and Fruit watches them flinch and duck to avoid it. A huge pair of wings struggle against chains and a bladed tail snaps around, weighted down. His bronze skin is patchworked by old scars and fresh wounds, and iron wraps around him to keep void-sharp claws away from the guards.
The winged creature notices Fruit’s scrutiny and raises his eyes; they gleam a bright purple and Fruit’s hackles rise, so he stares back, a challenge in steady green. Possibly the winged creature would struggle further if he wasn’t wounded so severely; Fruit sees the tear in his wings, several gashes torn across his face and down his back.
Fruit freezes. He studies the familiar shape of the slashes littering the creature’s torso, and he could’ve sworn he’d ripped open the wings of the ender dragon he’d fought earlier. And were’t the dragon’s eyes the same brilliant purple--
He startles when the ender dragon hybrid lands in his cell with a thump, hears the rusty squeak of iron as the guards slam his cell door closed. The dragon hybrid stares up at him and Fruit warily steps closer, sliding his claws out.

Regrettably Attached Pt. 1
Stark!Reader x Loki
Word Count: 2958
Authors Note: I wanna thank you guys in advance for reading this. I haven’t written anything in probably 6 years so it might be a little sloppy. I am open to suggestions and any fixes you guys can bring to my attention!
Summary:; You’re Tony Stark’s younger sister and you are somewhat part of the Avengers, but behind the scenes, not necessarily on the front lines unless you’re needed. This is an UA where Loki is living in the compound living under strict supervision and the reader slowly starts falling for the God of Mischief after hating him due to, yaknow, trying to kill her brother and some of her closest friends, but that quickly turns into lovers(obvi)
Growing up as Tony’s sister was and still is kind of terrifying. Tony has always been such a “smarty pants” for lack of a better phrase. Even with him being a child prodigy, you two have always been close and you would want it any other way. You grew up following in his and your fathers footsteps.
Years past and you have graduated with multiple engineering degrees and even though your mother and father weren’t here to see it, Tony always made sure you knew how proud they would be of you. No graduation, presentation or ceremony went unattended by the now Iron Man. So it was no surprise when Tony asked you to join him and the other Avengers at the compound to help with logistics and help Tony and Bruce create safer suits.
“Hey Kid! Get down here, we need your help!”
It’s been 5 years that you’ve been living with Tony and still, nothing surprises you.
“Hold on! I just got out of the shower!” You shouted from your cracked bedroom door. You quickly put on some extremely worn jeans and a Led Zeppelin t-shirt that you MIGHT have stolen from your older brother. You cracked open the door once more and yelled to Tony
“Is this a no shoes project?!” You sat with your head out the door tapping your fingers along the door frame when someone threw what seemed to be a wad of paper at the back of your head. You groaned and sucked air through your teeth. “I swear to the gods, Rogers, if you don’t stop throwing shit, I’m gonna curb stomp you” You said as you turned your head to send a glare towards Steve. To your unpleasant surprise, it was not Steve, but the annoying, somewhat attractive God Of Mischief, Loki
“Oh, my dear, Mr. America isn’t the only one who likes to get under your skin” Loki said very nonchalantly while leaning against his own door frame. “Now if you don’t mind. Stop that obnoxious yelling. Some of us are actually trying to work and not be babied by their dear brother.” Loki glared at you from where he stood with his arms crossed over his chest.
You and the god have never been on good terms, even after the pleading Thor gave you when he brought him back from Asgard after its destruction. You wanted to believe him when he said that his brother had changed and was working towards being a better ‘person’, but it still left an unpleasant taste in your mouth since, you know, he tried to kill your brother.
“Get fucked, Loki.” You stepped out of your room, body completely turned towards the man in front of you. “I have told you multiple times to leave me alone. Tony might be okay with you being here, but I certainly don’t give a shit what happens to you.” You spat at him with venom and malice in your voice. Tony told you time and time again to try to be civil with Loki, but you never listened. You just couldn’t.
You continued to stare at the slimy, yet oddly handsome man-god thing in front of you and if looks could kill, he wouldn’t be breathing.
“Hey, kid, did you not hear the urgency in my voice or do you enjoy giving me a heart attack?” You jumped when you felt your brother out his hand on your shoulder. “I told you that yes, you did need shoes. Bruce and I really need your help on the Mark VII suit- wait, sis, are you alright?” Tony studied your face after turning your shoulder towards him with a worried expression
“Yeah, I’m fine Tony. Let me just grab my shoes and I’ll be down” You pulled away from your brother and ran into your room, slamming the door behind you. You sit with your back against your door and hide your face in your hands, groaning loudly.
“Why can’t he just leave me alone?” You whisper softly to yourself. You’ve been at such a crossroads when it comes to the trickster god. You hate him for what he did to Tony and your friends, but at the same time, you can’t help but have this… attraction to him. The sharpness of his jawline, the softness in his bright blue eyes, or the way his lips curl up into a cheeky little smirk when he does something that riles you up. It’s been a year and a half since Thor brought Loki back, and you still haven’t adjusted.
You let out a long sigh of frustration as you stand up and walk to your closet pulling out a loved pair boots. After you pull your shoes on, you finally find the strength to walk out of your room and start heading towards the workshop to find Tony and Bruce. You make a pitstop to the kitchen to grab some coffee and a small snack
“Hey FRIDAY, can you ask if Tony and Bruce want anything?” You call out into the empty room while making a PB&J sandwich”
“They both say nothing at the moment other than your presence, Miss. Stark. Mr. Stark said it is very urgent and they need you down there quickly”
You groan as you toss the butter knife into the sink and start walking down the stairs to the workshop. Once you enter you see Bruce leaning over one of the tablets with his hands running through his hair.
“Alright, what did I miss?” you say as you take a bite of your sandwich, causing the men to look up at you, seemingly irritated. “Whoa whoa boys, what the hell?” You raise an eyebrow at your brother who’s sitting across from Bruce, impatiently tapping his fingers on the desk. Tony sighs and stands up to walk over to his computer, pulling up the internals of the suit
“For whatever reason, the suit keeps overheating after about 10 minutes and we cannot for the life of us figure out why” Bruce says while Tony is flipping through all the internals for you. You can’t help but smile and giggle a little bit.
“Alright kid, what's so funny? Tony asks, slightly glaring in your direction.
“Oh no, nothing. Nothing at all. But, uh, unrelated, how long have you guys been working on this?”
“A couple h-” Tony goes to speak but is interrupted by the suit powering up, seemingly without issues.
“Big brother, you’re a terrible liar. When I woke up yesterday morning, you both had already been down here working on it. It was a simply missing variable and a loose connection.” Tony and Bruce both keep switching between the suit and their respective computers trying to figure out how they missed such a small thing.
“How the fu-” “LANGUAGE!” Steve yells out as he stares coming down the stairs. Tony rolls his eyes and starts going through the internals again before smacking his palm to his forehead. “Thanks kid”
“No problem old man, now go get some rest.” You say, patting Tony on the back.
“Hey, can I talk to you really quick, Squeak?” You groan loudly at the nickname that the team gave you when you first showed up. You were so nervous about making a good impression, that when you started to speak, all of your words got stuck in your chest and all that came out was a little squeak.
“Yeah Cap, maybe if you stop calling me that god awful nickname, like I've told you to do multiple times!” You both start walking up the stairs and you playfully push Rogers shoulder, knowing it won’t do much.
Once you make it up the stairs, Steve leads you to the living room and sits at the couch across from your favorite chair
“Alright, if this is an intervention, I’m leaving. I get I shouldn’t be smoking bu-” You stop talking when Steve lifts his hand up and just stares at you with a dumbfounded look “This isn’t an intervention, but maybe it should be- yo- what?!” Steve gets a little loud at the end of his sentence, catching the attention of Tony and Thor who are in the kitchen making some lunch
“STEVE SHUT UP” You blush slightly and hide your face in your hands again.
“Conversation for another time, anyways” Steve pulls your hands away from your face and makes you look at him and quietly says your name “What was going on earlier when Tony came up stairs? I was in the bathroom down the hall and I heard you yelling at someone? Was it Loki again?” You avoid eye contact but nod slightly. Steve lets out a small sigh and sits back
“What he did wasn’t even terrible, Cap. He threw a ball of paper at me and basically told me to shut up. I just get so irrationally angry at him for what he tried to do to my family. Tony is all I have left. I know that everyone has told me to make nice and just fake it for the sake of all of us being here almost all the time, but I can’t. I'm just so confused and..” You stop yourself and look up at Steve who is intently listening.
“What are you confused about, doll?” He raises an eyebrow and you start blushing again.
“I- I don’t wanna talk about it..” You whisper softly and glance over to where Tony and Thor are at. As much as Tony begs you to be nice and try to be civil, he would not hesitate to beat your ass if he found out that you were harboring a crush for the trickster. Steve leans in and whispers
“I think I know. I may be from a different time, but I know a crush when I see it.” He pulls back and smiles at you and for whatever reason, this makes you angry.
“WHAT?! You think I have a little schoolgirl crush on that fucking murderer?! HE TRIED TO KILL TONY MULTIPLE TIMES!” You yelled at Steve as you stood up, tears stinging your eyes “I would NEVER mess with the likes of Loki, whether he's a God or a prince of whatever the hell he is!”
“Squeak, now hold on-”
“No, Rogers- Leave me alone!” You storm away from him and go up the stairs leading to your bedroom. Once you get to your door, another wad of paper is thrown in your direction, but this time you catch it. Turning towards where the paper had come from, was he himself.
“Hello, darling. I heard you and Rogers speaking about me” He smirks ever so slightly and starts slowly sauntering over to you. Once he gets close to you, you pull a dagger out of the sheath around your thigh and press the tip to his chest
“I suggest you leave me the hell alone, you psychopath.” You grit your teeth as you finish your sentence and Loki puts his hands up in defeat and takes a few steps back
“My my, little one. I didn’t know you could be so feisty.” He chuckles slightly and crosses his arms over his chest. “I just wanted to have a civil conversation and see if we can come to an understanding about where my loyalties lie and try to get your tiny Midgardian brain to understand that I’m not the same person I was.. Before”
You sheath your dagger and pinch the bridge of your nose hopeful to fight off your frustration.
“Look, Loki. You may not realize the severity of what you did, but that doesn’t mean I’m just gonna accept that you’re some righteous person-god- whatever the hell you are.”
“Oh, good heavens, no. I’m not righteous whatsoever, darling. Never have been, never will be. But” He points a finger at the ceiling and smiles “I can promise you that I do not plan to murder anyone… in this building”
You smirk softly at the humor in the tricksters voice and cross your arms over your chest.
“So how about that conversation?” You gester to him to come in your room but when you look back at his face he has a rather dumbfounded look on his face
“What a minute, 45 seconds ago you had a bloody dagger to my chest, ready to skin me alive, but now you want me to come into your room with you?” Loki walks closer to you slowly still with that dumb look on his face.
You place your hand back on your dagger and laugh “Just because I’m inviting you into my room, doesn’t mean I won’t hesitate to stab you if you give me a reason to.” You wink at him and walk into your room, where you kick off your shoes and lounge in the recliner at the far corner of your room.
The rooms at the compound were not small by any means. Each room has a giant California king size bed, a double walk-in closet, its own little mini fridge, plus enough room to have 2 Hulks lay side by side on the floor.
You have yours decorated in your signature color, with white accents on the furniture as well as copious amount of liquor bottles on the top of your bookshelf.
Loki saunters in after a few seconds and takes a seat on your bed, directly in front of you. It seems like he’s… admiring you? He won’t look away and seems to be studying your face, how your wavy hair falls softly from the messy bun on the top of your head, how your eyes sparkle with the sun coming through the windows, how your lips are just a subtle rosy color, indicating that you either suck of chew on them when frustrated.
“Are you gonna say anything or are you just gonna sit here and stare at me all day?” You blush softly and stare right back at him
“My dear, if I may be rather brash, it just seems like something seems of worry to you, my apologies. But, yes, where would you like me to begin?”
You and Loki sat there for 3 or 4 hours talking about what really happened when Loki invaded New York, what happened to his mother and how Asgard was completely destroyed by his and Thor’s elder sister. Half way through the conversation, you had pulled down a rather nice bottle of Whiskey and two rocks glasses, pouring both of you a drink while Loki was reliving what he described to be the most painful part of his life. There you sat with the man you had sworn to hate until your last breath, actually feeling sorry for judging him so harshly. But who can blame you?
“Wow” You said after he had finally finished. You looked down at your glass and it was empty. While Loki was explaining everything to you, you had finished 4 or 5 full glasses of whiskey and were starting to feel a little tipsy
“Loki, I am so indecently sorry. All of the times Thor and I had talked about what happened, he never once told me how hard you took everything.”
Loki scoffed a little and looked at his glass “Well, my story really isn’t for my brother to tell, and he never really understood my feelings on the matter. I never really spoke to him about it. It was really only me on my own.” He shrugged softly and finished what liquor he still had in his glass “I really hope this changes your viewing of my, darling. I truly meant what I said. I have zero intentions of harming anyone in this compound.”
You shook your head a little and pushed the hair that had fallen into your face back “But why tell me all of this? Why tell the one person who probably hates you the most in the tower all of your worries and how at fault you feel?” You looked up from your glass when he chuckled.
“My dear, I know you don’t truly hate me. You hate what I did to your brother and the Avengers.” He leaned forward to be at eye level with you and spoke very softly “Do not forget, little one. I can read minds, you know” He winked at you and sat back in his chair
“I- you what now?!” You sat up straight and your face became very flushed. How could you have been so naive? Thor had mentioned it a couple of times that he believes his brother could read thoughts, but you never took it to heart.
“Miss. Stark, it seems as so Mr. Stark is worried about you. He has no idea where you are and I didn’t think to make him privy of your location.” FRIDAY interjected before you or Loki could say anything regarding the mind reading matter.
“Thanks, FRIDAY, can you tell him I’m up in my room? I don’t think I’ll be able to walk after the amount of alcohol I’ve drank” You chuckled slightly and rubbed your face with your hands.
“Right away Miss. Stark. Oh, it seems as if your brother is coming to see you.”
You internally began slightly panicking because as much as Tony wanted you to be civil, I don’t think he would want you damn near wasted with the God Of Mischief in your room.
“I shall be on my way, darling” Loki stood up and walked over to you. He rests his hands on the back of your chair and soon your face to face.
“Conversation for another time” He quickly places a kiss to your cheek before disappearing in a green cloud.
What the fuck is happening?

Family Dinner
Summary: Xiaotian is invited to be a buffer at Red’s family dinner.
Notes: So Family Dinner won the Art School poll so...enjoy!
-_-
“I need your help.”
The tone, barely audible over his music, was enough to make Xiaotian stop his music and look up from his tablet. Red looked nervous, bouncing from foot to foot, and it didn’t help that his hair was down in a poofy mess and he looked like he hadn’t slept for three days. “Sure.” he said, hoping that would help that look fade. “What do you need?”
The look didn’t ease. “Just so we’re clear, you can say no, but my family dinner is coming up and I don’t want to be alone with them but-” Realization came to life. He hadn’t heard much about Red’s parents, but enough had been heard that Xiaotian could get a picture.
“Sure.”
Red came to a stop, eyes widening. “Really?”
Xiaotian nodded, saving his work and then turning off his tablet. “Yeah! If you don’t want to be alone with them, I get it. This hasn’t been the first time I’ve been a buffer.” The other blinked, opened his mouth, and then closed it, clearly confused. “Xiaojiao’s parents love me.” he said, shrugging.
Red blinked again. “...okay.” he finally managed out, clearly moving past it. “Dress up nice and I’ll pick you up on Friday. Thanks.” And just like that, he was walking away.
“You’re welcome!” he called after him, unsure of what else to do.
-_-
Thankfully, Xiaotian had two nice outfits. Unfortunately, he also had a complete unawareness if they were nice enough. A quick text to Red, asking where they were going, fixed that. Thankfully, the outfits he had looked nice enough for the place which meant he didn’t need to go shopping.
Thirty minutes before he was supposed to be picked up, Xiaotian smoothed down his shirt. He had decided to go with the dress shirt and black slacks inside of the pretty orange dress, which still left him the question of what to do with his hair. He considered his reflection, humming in thought. He could leave it like it was, with his red headband making it spike up, but that felt too casual. Maybe down? He tried it, considering it. Xiaojiao was at a race in the next town over and was probably asleep at this hour, so he couldn’t call her for her opinion.
A knock on the door made him pull his eyes away. “It’s open!”
The door creaked open, revealing Red. He was dressed similarly, what looked like a fancy jacket slung over his arm, golden earrings in, and eye bags still visible. “I was wondering if you were-” He paused, staring at Xiaotian. It might’ve been the light, but for a moment, he had thought Red had been looking him over in a... boyfriend way, for lack of a better word. “You… have your hair down.” He sounded flustered, at least.
“Yeah, I wasn’t sure if it was nice enough or I should put it into a ponytail…”
“Keep it down.” Red said, scanning him over again with a much more technical look. “But it is missing something.” He looked around before landing on Xiaotian and Xiaojiao’s shared jewelry box. “Mind if I-?” Xiaotian nodded his approval, so Red hurried over. After a moment of rustling around, he pulled something out. “Here we go.”
He had pulled out a pair of golden monkey earrings, a gift from Tripitaka when he returned from visiting New York one time. Xiaotian took it with a word of thanks and slid them in. “You ready?” he asked when he finished, stopping to grab the flowers he had ordered just in case. Red shook his head but gestured to him to go first, closing the door behind them.
Outside, the night was cool. Red led Xiaotian to a small red car and once, they were buckled in, drove silently away from the dorms.
After a few minutes of tense silence, Xiaotian glanced over at his… he wasn’t sure what they were. In any case, Red was as tense as a board, glaring straight ahead, and looking ready to pass out. “Hey,” he finally said. The other blinked. “It’s gonna be okay.”
“It’s just… it’s the first time I’ve brought a guest to these dinners and my mother wasn’t exactly pleased when I told her you were coming after I asked you.” His knuckles went white on the wheel. “And I’m just freaked out you’re going to hate me after this is done.”
He reached out, holding Red’s shoulder. “Hey. Nothing your parents can do will make me hate you.” Xiaotian tried his best to pour every inch of sincerity into his voice. “You’re great. And there is nothing- RED LIGHT!” At his cry, Red slammed on the brakes, an inch from crossing the red light.
The car once again went silent, except for their frantic breaths and furiously pumping hearts. Ahead of them, traffic furiously drove and drove, busy, busy, busy. The two finally managed to catch their breaths, glancing at each other. When they met eyes, they lost their breath again- this time to relieved laughter. Finally, their light turned green and Red started again.
The brush with life and death had seemed to calm him a bit. He started smiling when Xiaotian turned on the radio and started to bop his head to the music.
But, soon enough, they were pulling into a parking lot. Red went stiff again the minute they had parked. Following his gaze, Xiaotian watched as a black limo dropped off two people at the front. When it passed, he finally got a good glance at Red’s parents.
The small woman in the front must’ve been Iron Fan. She was dressed in an elegant red and gold dress. Her long dark hair was pulled away in a complex hairstyle to reveal a beautiful face with red-painted lips and sharp eyeliner. Behind her was DBK. Sharing his son’s liking of colored hair, his purple hair was pulled back into a short bun. He was dressed in a dark suit that failed to hide the fact that he was built like a tank, amber eyes scanning the parking lot. Looking for them.
Red took a deep breath before pulling on his coat. “Okay.” he breathed out, readjudting his ponytail one last time. “Let’s do this.”
“Are you ready?”
“Nope. Let’s go.”
The two bundled out of the car, Xiaotian gripping his bouquet tight. Together they headed towards Red’s parents. In a walk that both felt too long and too short, they were at the sidewalk. The two elders turned and he felt a shiver run down his spine. DBK looked… not pleased. But Iron Fan had the same look on Xiaojiao’s face whenever she was mentally planning to gut someone. Red came to a stop and Xiaotian mirrored him.
“Mother. Father. My apologies for being late.” Red’s tone was formal, apologetic.
His mother stepped forward, the gutting look replaced by some kind of look that was too cold to be maternal. “We were wondering where you were,” Iron Fan said, cupping Red’s face. And then she was squishing his cheeks. “My sweet useless boy.” Before Xiaotian could say something, she was turning to him. The look was back. “And this must be Qi Xiaotian.”
“Yes!” Xiaotian said, trying to not be cowed. He held out his hand. “Red’s told me so much about you.” A lie, but one he hoped worked. Iron Fan considered his hand before shaking it. Her red-nailed grip was ridiculously strong. “I… hope you like flowers?” he managed out, holding out the bouquet.
Iron Fan took it, considering the flowers. “How sweet.” she said. Without another word, she turned. “Come on, let’s go before our table is given away.” The boys followed, not sure what else to do.
When their backs were turned, Xiaotian slid his hand into Red’s hand and squeezed it in a hopeful attempt at comfort.
Red squeezed it back.
Inside, the decor was elegant- one of the fanciest places Xiaotian had ever been in. Their hostess led them up a grand staircase, overlooking the rest of the restaurant, and to a round table with a lazy Susan tray in the center. “We hope you enjoy it.” she said, promising their waiter would be by soon. Xiaotian thanked her before looking down to realize Red had pulled out his chair. Across the table, DBK had done the same to Iron Fan, pushing her in.
Together, they opened their menus. “I think we will get our usual,” DBK said, his voice rough. Xiaotian nearly jumped at it, since the man hadn’t said a word. “Do you have any thoughts, Xiaotian?”
He glanced at the menu, trying to figure out what would be best to say. The menu had been online and he had given it a quick scan ahead, but Red’s parents were leaving him floundering. “Do you have any recommendations?” he finally managed out.
Iron Fan’s grin, cold and cruel, showed he had mistepped.
In the end, it felt like they had ordered the spiciest things on the menu for their main courses. Xiaotian resisted a scream and the waiter had a pitying look on his face. So did DBK, much to his surprise. Now, all that was left to do was wait for the first course.
“So, Xiaotian,” Iron Fan said, all her attention on him. “What do you study?”
School. He could do school. “I’m doing a painting and graphic design major.” Xiaotian said, trying to sound confident. “I’m working on a webcomic idea. But if that doesn’t work out, I’m planning to go into museum work.” He had worked with his dads to figure out this backup plan, just in case.
“Oh, really.” The waiter returned to pour dark red wine into their wine glasses. Iron Fan took a sip. “What is your webcomic about?” Next to him, Red stiffened. Xiaotian stiffened as well.
“It’s… about my dad.” he finally squeaked out.
Iron Fan stiffened but this time DBK leaned forward in interest. “How is Wukong?” he said. “I haven’t heard much since my… return.” And there was another fact- they used to be friends. If things had been different, Xiaotian probably would’ve grown up with Red. “I only heard he adopted a son.”
“He’s married.” Xiaotian squeaked.
The dinner did not get better from there.
When the food arrived, there was a glass of water that came with it for Xiaotian (which seemed to be the only mercy), and Iron Fan and DBK seemed to laser-focus on Red. It didn’t seem to matter that he was there, their words were cold, casual, and cruel as they picked at things here and there, no matter how trivial.
Finally, the dessert course was done, the check arrived, and DBK paid. “Remember your grades.” Iron Fan said when DBK’s credit card was returned. Without another word or an actual goodbye, she was standing and she and her husband were leaving. Red shuddered the minute they were out of view.
“That went well.” he finally managed out.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t much help.” Xiaotian said, not sure what else to say. At least Xiaojiao’s parents tried, or at least didn’t have their issues in front of him. “I didn’t expect…”
“Nobody expects my parents, Noodle Boy. Let’s go home.”
The ride back was in exhausted silence. “I have mochi.” Xiaotian mumbled out when they parked. “Want some?” He needed something to eat after trying to not burn his tongue off and he really didn’t want to leave Red alone.
“...yeah.”

Tony x reader x Steve x Natasha
Notes; The reader has powers akin to Psylocke from X-Men. Also, I would have uploaded sooner, but it was my birthday yesterday, and I forgot. Sorry.
"I'm gonna miss the beard." You said, watching Steve as he shaved off the beard he had grown.
"Tony never liked it," Steve commented. "He said it was too scratchy."
"Like he can talk." Natasha snorted, coming up behind you and wrapping her arms around your waist. "We're going to find him, Steve." She promised the blonde.
"And what if he was dusted?" Steve asked, turning to you. "What then?"
"We bring him back," Natasha said. "He can't get away from us that easy." She joked, causing Steve to laugh weakly.
"Y/N, you're awful quiet," Steve noted as he and Natasha looked at you.
"He needs to come home." You said, looking up.
"We know. Carol's looking for him now. If he's out there, we'll find him." Natasha assured you.
"No, he needs to come back to us." You said, placing a hand on your stomach.
"Y/N?" Steve asked, taking a step forward.
"We're pregnant." You announced, flashing a watery smile at both your partners. "I felt really sick after the battle and had FRIDAY scan me. We're five weeks pregnant."
"This is amazing, Y/N!" Natasha cheered, turning you in her arms to kiss you deeply. "We're going to be parents!"
"This is such fantastic news," Steve said, pulling both you and Natasha into his arms. "Our family is growing." He smiled, putting his hand on your stomach.
"That's why Tony has to come home. So he can be here. I don't want to just tell this baby about Tony. I want them to have all their parents raise them."
"We'll get him back," Steve promised you. "Whatever it takes."
Before any of you could say another word, there was a loud humming sound that shook the walls of the building.
"FRIDAY, what was that?" Natasha demanded.
"It appears Carol Danvers has returned. She is carrying a large spacecraft with her."
"Tony." The three of you said before rushing outside.
Bruce, Rhodey, and Pepper quickly joined the three of you, and soon the six of you were all gathered on the front lawn, watching as Carol flew down.
You'd never believed in God before, but at this moment, you found yourself praying Tony was on that ship and alive.
As the ship was placed on the ground, the door opened. A raccoon walked out, followed by a blue woman and then,
"Tony!" You shouted, rushing forward with Natasha and Steve on your heels.
Tony looked half dead. He was incredibly pale and thin. His form was shaking as you pulled him into your arms.
"You're alive. You're here." You whispered, clinging onto his shirt tightly. When Tony didn't respond, you took a step back and allowed Natasha and Steve to embrace him.
"I lost the kid." Tony gasped after Steve pulled away.
"Tony, we all lost," Steve told him with a grimace.
"You need to get looked over," Natasha demanded, putting one of Tony's arms around her shoulders.
"No, we need to talk about him," Tony said, panting by the end of his short sentence.
"You need to go to the infirmary." You said, narrowing your eyes at the man. "You're about to collapse."
As Steve wrapped his thick arm around Tony's midsection, Tony seemingly lost his fight and slumped in their hold.
After having rested for a while, Tony explained what had happened on Titan to you all. When Nebula announced that she may know where Thanos could be, everyone prepared to leave.
Everyone except you.
You had volunteered, been forced to stay behind by Natasha and Steve, to stay with Tony.
"Tony, you need to stay in bed." You sighed, gently pushing on his shoulders.
"I can't stand this. Who invented bedrest? I just want to talk to them." Tony grumbled, leaning back against his pillows.
"Yeah, I don't think you can talk to him. He died in 1914." You informed him.
"Absolutely ridiculous," Tony said under his breath.
You were about to reply to him when a sudden bout of nausea overwhelmed you. You rushed over to the trashcan by the door and lost this morning's breakfast.
"Y/N?"
"I'm fine. Just give me a second." You said before throwing up again. "Ugh, that's gross." You complained once you were done.
"What the hell was that? Are you okay? Are you sick? Is it the flu?" Tony asked in rapid-fire succession.
"I'm fine, hon." You cut him off. "I'm gonna put this in the hall. This is disgusting." You said before moving the can into the hallway.
"Are you gonna tell me what that was?" Tony asked as you moved back to his bedside.
"I was going to wait until Natasha and Steve got back, but now's going to have to do." You sighed, taking his hand. "I'm pregnant, Tony."
Tony went quiet. He didn't say anything as he stared at you.
"Tony?"
"We're going to need to start planning for a nursery. I'll get FRIDAY to call a designer and have them send over some color swatches. Do you know if it's a girl or a boy? How far along are you?" Tony asked as he grabbed his tablet from the side table. "FRIDAY, can you download baby books for first-time parents? Do you think there are youtube videos we could watch?"
"Tony, I'm barely following a thing you're saying." You informed the man. "Wait, so you're not mad?"
"Mad? Why would I be mad?" Tony titled his head. "We've been talking about this for how long? Have you told Tasha and Steve?"
"I told them just before you got back." You nodded.
"We're going to have a family." Tony smiled largely. "Oh God, we're going to have a family."
"So, Thanos is dead."
"Yes."
"And the stones are destroyed."
"Yes."
That had been playing on a loop in your head since everyone had returned.
Thor had left that night.
Carol had returned to space.
Rhodey had been called back to work.
Rocket, Nebula, and Bruce were sticking around the compound. Bruce would be staying permanently to help the rest of the world, but Nebula and Rocket were only staying temporarily. Once they had reloaded their ship, they would be gone too.
And the four of you, the four of you were leaving now.
"We got so lucky here, Steve," Tony said, putting his arm around Natasha's shoulders and putting the other around your waist. "We all lived. We made it out alive, and now we have a chance. We have a kid on the way, Steve."
"I know that," Steve said, rubbing his hand over his face. "But we can't just leave. The world is in chaos, everyone is panicking, and you want us to go? Go where?"
"I bought a lakehouse a few years back. It was an impulse buy, and I haven't been there since I bought it. Might be a good project for us all." Tony informed everyone.
"So you want us to go and move into a place that isn't even finished yet?" Steve scoffed.
"It's finished. It just needs some repairs."
"Steve, why are you so against this?" You cut in.
"Because we lost! Because Thanos defeated us, and then we lost again because of the stones. Some people lost everyone and everything, and we can't fix it." Steve sighed, looking away from the three of you.
"Steve, we're allowed to live our lives," Natasha said, standing from the bed and pulling him over. "Yes, it is terrible what happened to all those people, but we are allowed to be happy. We are allowed to be happy that we survived, that we have a child on the way."
"Why can't we have this, Steve?" Tony asked him. "We've been fighting for years. And the point was so we didn't have to fight, and this is not the way we thought it would happen, but it's happened. We've fought for years for this." Tony said, taking Steve's hand and putting it on your stomach.
"This could be a blessing in disguise, Stevie." You mentioned intertwining your fingers with his. "This is our reason to take a step back. To focus on ourselves for once, to focus on our little one. We've never been safe here, and we'll never be safe here. Neither will they."
Steve had eventually agreed to the plan. It had taken hours for the four of you to come to an agreement, but you finally did.
You, Tony, and Natasha would fully step back. You were done. There would be no more Avengers activities for the three of you. Steve himself couldn't leave completely.
His conscious wouldn't allow him to in a time he felt was less than desirable.
So Steve would come back to the city once a week and see if Bruce needed help with anything.
But that was it for him.
"Is that everything?" Natasha asked, putting her last bag in the car.
"Should be." You nodded, moving to stand behind her. "Anything else the movers will bring." You added, wrapping your arms around her waist.
"Someone's cuddly this morning," Steve commented as he and Tony entered the garage.
"What do you expect, Steve? You woke her up at five a.m." Tony clucked, pulling on his sunglasses.
"We had to get up at five if we wanted to load up the car and get there at twelve." Steve shook his head. "Speaking of leaving, is everyone ready?"
"I'm always ready, Cap," Tony smirked.
"Let's get going." Natasha nodded.
"Y/N?"
"Let's do this."
Non-reader POV
"Your alpaca ate Steve's laundry today." Y/N casually informed Tony as she prepared lunch.
"He's our alpaca, thank you." Tony corrected her, stealing a piece of cooked chicken. "And why was he using the clothesline anyway? We have a dryer."
"Because sometimes it's nice to do things the old-fashioned way." Y/N smiled. "Can you bring those three in for lunch?"
"Of course," Tony said, pressing a kiss to her cheek before leaving out the back door.
Tony was smiling as he made the short walk from the house to the hideout. When he was within hearing distance, Tony began to clap several times.
"Chow time!" He called. "Hello?" He greeted in a random accent as he took a seat outside the hideout. "Parker J, Sarah M, Stark, you two and your mom want some lunch?"
"Define wunch or be disintegwated," Sarah demanded, exiting in an Iron Man helmet as Parker barrel rolled out and jumped into a superhero pose.
"Woah, Woah, Woah," Tony said, raising his hands up. "You should not be wearing that." He informed his daughter as he gently removed it. "Where did you get it?"
"I let them play with it," Natasha said, crawling out of the hideout. "That was a very well done threat, Sarah." She complimented her daughter, pressing a kiss to her head. "And your roll and jump are coming along well too, Parker." She added, kissing her son's head too.
"Thank you, mama." The twins responded in unison.
"You were watching them, Nat?" He asked. "Then I suppose it's okay. You three thinking 'bout lunch? A handful of crickets and some lettuce, for you three, I think." He teased, causing Parker and Sarah to make a noise of disgust.
"No, daddy!" Parker shrieked, scrunching his nose.
"Yucky!"
"Don't worry, I won't let him poison you," Natasha said, taking Parker into her arms. "You got her?" She asked Tony.
"Always do." Tony nodded, taking Sarah into his arms. "C'mon on you three. Let's not keep your mom waiting."
Tony and Natasha began walking back to the house when they saw Steve's truck pull up. The two were smiling at the blonde's arrival until they saw Scott Lang and Bruce Banner getting out of the car too.
Reader POV
"I can't believe you brought them here, and for that." Tony scoffed.
Scott and Bruce had left an hour ago. The conversation had not gone the way Steve had wanted, with Tony blatantly dismissing the notion of using time travel.
Tony had disappeared into his garage an hour ago, but the second he came back into the house, he and Steve began to argue. You and Natasha had sent the kids upstairs while you sat on the couch and watched the two.
"Tony, Scott came back that's something. That means we have a chance." Steve pressed his husband. "We have a chance to go back and fix this."
"There is no chance. We can't go back. His theory was based on a movie. Why can't you accept that we change the past? Why can't you accept that we lost?" Tony scoffed, narrowing his eyes at the blonde.
"Why can't you believe we have a chance to fix this?"
"Because even if this plan worked, there is a chance that we lose everything." He said, waving his arms around the room. "We lose the last five years, and we lose them. We lose our kids. Do you want that, Steven?"
"Of course not!" Steve exclaimed. "You know I would never do anything to endanger our children!"
"Boys." You snapped, standing from the sofa. "Neither of you are getting anywhere like this. You are solving nothing. Cool off." You demanded, crossing your arms.
"Don't need to ask me twice." Tony shrugged, going back towards the garage.
"Fine." Steve ground out, leaving out the back door.
"You go after Steve, and I'll go after Tony?" Natasha suggested as she stood.
"Deal."
Natasha moved to follow after Tony, and you pursued Steve. You found Steve exactly where you thought he'd be.
"You know we don't need any more firewood, right?" You asked, watching as he began to stack a pile of logs.
"He never listens. To anyone." Steve grumbled, picking up an ax.
"I hope you're not going to take that to him." You joked, moving to stand across from him. "Steve, talk to me."
"This could work, Y/N. We could fix this." Steve sighed. "I don't know why he won't listen."
"Because of them." You gestured to the kids' hideout by the lake. "And because of Peter." You added, causing Steve to go quiet. "We were all close with Peter, but Tony was closest. We both know it hurt him really badly when Peter died, and now he's scared something is going to the twins."
"You know I would never do anything that could hurt them," Steve promised you.
"I know that. Tony knows that, but he's just scared. What happened on Titan hurt him more than he wants to admit in a lot of ways.  He just needs time." You promised, taking the ax out of his hands and pulling him into an embrace.
After your talk with Steve, you had brought him inside. The two of you went upstairs and sat with the kids for a while. Parker and Sarah were coloring, but they insisted you and Steve stay.
You could never refuse the kids, and you even allowed them to stay up an hour later before you had to send them to bed.
You and Steve had then moved to your bedroom, where you and he just crawled into bed.
"Can I come in?" Tony asked, standing in the doorway while Natasha strolled right in.
"Of course you can," Steve said, making room for him in the middle as Natasha crawled in behind you.
"We had to put the kids back to bed," Tony said. "Tash gave them both juice pops."
"Liar." Natasha scoffed before you all went quiet.
"I figured it out," Tony murmured after a minute. "Time travel. Tasha saw it."
"That's amazing," Steve said.
"And terrifying." You mentioned.
"We got really lucky. Not a lot of people did, and I can't always help everyone." Tony said, looking at the ceiling.
"Seems like you can here," Steve told him.
"Not if I stop. I can put a pin in it right now and stop." Tony said to him.
"Tony, you've never been able to stop." Natasha shook her head. "If we could've ever gotten you to stop, our lives would be very different now." She added, causing the three of you to chuckle.
"I don't know. Something tells me I should put it in a locked box and drop it to the bottom of the lake."
"Tony, you'd never be able to stop." You said, taking his hand. "None of us would be able to rest if we knew we could've helped."
"We'd never be able to stop," Steve told him.
"We've never been able to stop." Natasha snorted. "It's been five years, and we're still going. We've never been able to stop."
You'd gone back to the compound the next day. Pepper and Happy had volunteered to watch the kids, and after a long goodbye, the four of you had driven back.
There Tony had shown Bruce what he had worked out, and the rest of you worked on a plan. Natasha had gone and brought Clint back, and he had test-driven the machine.
Once Clint had given you the affirmative, all you had to do was find the stones.
Everyone had been assigned a stone and a team. From there, you would travel back in time, collect the stone, and return so Bruce and Tony could add them to a glove Tony had made.
You would be going to Asgaard with Thor and Rocket.
You were all standing on the platform, ready to travel back through space and time.
"Hey," Natasha said, drawing everyone's attention to her. "See you in a minute." She smiled giddily.
And with that, you were gone.
An hour on Asgaard passed quickly. Thor had runoff, and you had had to follow him through the large halls. Thor had found his mother and finally had the reunion and talk he'd needed.
It was when Rocket rushed into the room with the stone, and Thor summoned Mjolnir that the three of you had to go back.
"Did we get 'em all?" Tony asked immediately, clicking off his suit.
"Are you telling me this actually worked?" Rhodey laughed, looking around at everyone.
"Clint," You started. "Where's Nat?" You asked, not seeing your wife.
Everyone went silent as they all turned to face the archer, who was soaking wet. Clint didn't look up as he continued to stare at the ground silently.
"Clint?"
"What are we going to tell the kids?" You asked your husbands. Everyone had moved outside to the lake. No-one had made the decision aloud, but it was just too hard to sit inside.
"What can we tell them?" Tony asked, staring blankly at the water.
"You're acting like she's dead. Why are we acting like she's dead?" Thor asked, storming over. "We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones, we can bring her back. So stop this shit!" He demanded of the three of you. "That's your wife! Stop it!"
"We can't get her back," Clint said quietly. "It can't be undone." He added, shaking his head sadly.
"You're an earthly being." Thor scoffed. "We're talking about space magick."
"Yeah, look, I know I'm way outside my pay grade here, but she's not here. Is she? It can't be undone. At least that's what the floating spaceman said, but why don't you grab your hammer and go talk to him!" Clint began to yell.
"All of you stop it," Steve ordered, standing from his seat. "Arguing isn't going to solve anything."
"Why aren't you more upset about this, Cap?" Clint asked. "Why aren't any of you reacting? She was your wife, for fucks sake!"
"You don't think we know that!" Tony yelled, rounding on him. "You don't think we know that our wife just died for that fucking stone! Because we do! And now we have to go to a home where she won't be! Where we have to tell our kids why their mama won't be coming home! So don't fucking tell me we aren't feeling this because we are fucking feeling it!"
"All of you stop arguing." You said, standing up. "Natasha died for that stone, and I'll be dammed if we don't finish this for her. We're going in there to end this." You added, moving back towards the compound.
As you walked past Scott, who had been standing at the end quietly, you snapped.
Grabbing him by the collar, you pinned him to the pillar.
"If this does not fucking work and all this was for nothing, I will kill you. If Natasha died for nothing, I will fucking slaughter you." You promised before being pulled away by strong arms.
"We'll meet you inside," Steve said to the others who were beginning to walk past you.
When everyone had walked away, and it was only you, Steve and Tony, the dam broke.
Your legs could no longer support you, and you would have collapsed to the ground in a disheveled heap had Steve not been holding you up.
Tears were pouring down your face as your body wracked with an onslaught of sobs.
Tony's arms wrapped around you and Steve as the three of you stood on the dock, all crying.
"What do we do?" You asked as you began to calm yourself. "What do we do?"
"We finish this," Tony told you. "We need to finish this, so we can stop."
The stones had worked. It hadn't been for nothing.
Bruce had snapped everyone and everything back to life.
But of course, things never could work out for the Avengers.
Just as everyone was beginning to feel hopeful and happy at this achievement, the building had blown.
Thanos had returned.
You and Tony shielded as many as you could when the building blew. But when the time came to fight the Titan, it was only you, Steve, Thor, and Tony.
"Where are the stones?" Steve asked, standing beside you.
"Somewhere under all this," Tony said, staring at the Titan. "All I know is he doesn't have them."
"So we keep it that way." You told them, narrowing your eyes at Thanos.
"You know it's a trap, right?" Thor asked you all.
"Yeah, I don't much care." Tony shrugged.
"Good, just as long as we're all in agreement," Thor said before there was a rumble of thunder. "Let's kill him properly this time."
You were failing. Your asses had been getting kicked when the portals began to open.
And then chaos ensued.
There were so many moments of the battle you were sure you'd never be able to fully remember it all.
The only part that you completely remembered and would haunt you in your dreams for decades to come was when the glove flew from Carol's hands.
Everyone raced for it and rushed to protect it.
Thor and Steve fought Thanos together. Carol fought him alone. You and Steve fought him.
But eventually, you were all thrown to the side and forced to watch as Thanos pulled on the glove.
Carol tried once more to get the glove away from Thanos, only to be blasted to the side by the power stone.
Just as Thanos looked like he was going to snap, Tony rushed forward in a last effort attempt. He grabbed at the glove, but Thanos threw him back.
Tony landed beside you and Steve as Thanos readied to snap.
"I am inevitable," Thanos said, raising his hand. As he was raising his hand, you noticed something.
The stones traveling up Tony's suit.
His skin was already beginning to burn as the power traveled through his body.
He wouldn't survive this on his own.
You shared a look with Steve, who nodded at you.
"I am Iron Man," Tony said as you and Steve rushed forward. You and Steve stood behind him and placed your hands on his exposed skin.
You and Steve let out mirrored gasps of pain as the burning traveled through your bodies as well. You could feel a hand placed on your shoulder and heard more gasps and grunts of pain.
When you opened your eyes, Thor, Clint, and Bruce had all joined your makeshift chain.
"And we're the Avengers," Steve grunted, squeezing Tony's shoulder, who quickly snapped his fingers.
The six of you let out mirroring cries of pain after his snap. Your skin felt as if it were boiling and about to be peeled from your own body. But it was worth it.
It was worth it because Thanos’ army began to disintegrate.
And when Thanos sat down and he turned to dust, there was no greater feeling.,
"Tony?" Steve asked, causing your head to snap to the side. Tony was kneeling against a large piece of debris in obvious pain.
"Tony." You gasped, rushing towards him. "Oh God, Tony."
"It's not that bad, is it?" Tony asked you. "Do I still have my rugged good looks?"
"You could never lose them." Steve laughed, gently brushing his hand across Tony's burnt cheek.
"Tony, do you need to stop?" You asked, dreading the answer. "Because if you need to, you can stop now."
"Never," Tony grunted, sitting upright. "Where's Strange? I think I'm going to need a doctor."
The three of you were in a Wakandian hospital. Strange with some help from Shuri had been able to save Tony’s life. He had lost his arm to the gauntlet and that side of his body would forever be scarred. All six of you would forever bare the scars from this fight.
The six of you had been scarred by the power of the stones but Tony’s had been the worst.
The three of you had been in this hospital room for three days now and today was the day Pepper would be bringing the kids to visit.
“How do we tell them about Nat?” Steve asked.
“I have no idea.” You shook your head. “I don’t think there’s any version that’s going to be easy for them to hear.”
“What time did Pep say they were coming?” Tony asked.
“Any time now.” You said after glancing at the clock.
“There’s no time to plan anything is there?” Tony shook his head. We’ll just have to wing it.”
“There’s a part of me that just wants to run away.” You admitted. “I don’t think I can do this.”
“You just faced down Thanos with not a hint of fear, and two five-year-olds are scaring you?” Steve asked with a slight chuckle.
“Don’t act as if they’ve never scared you.” You said, lightly hitting him on the arm. “We all remember the juice pops incident.”
Before Steve could retort, there was a light knocking on the door. You all turned your heads to see Pepper standing at the door.
“Where are the kids?” Tony asked immediately.
“They’re right here.” Pepper was quick to reassure the three of you. “They’re both safe and ready to see you, but they have a surprise for you.”
“They better not have brought Gerald. I still haven’t forgiven him for the laundry.” Steve grumbled as Pepper stepped to the side. And in walked the kids. Both Parker and Sarah were smiling brightly as they pulled Natasha in.
“Nat?”
“Tasha?”
“Natty?”
The kids would tease you for years about the three of you crying when you saw Nat in that hospital room. They would tease you for years until they were old enough to be told the truth of what had happened.
Natasha had no idea what happened to her. She remembered falling and she remembered waking up at the remains of the compound where Strange had found her.
But it was her. It was 100% your Natasha and the three of you couldn't be more thankful that she was alive and with you once more.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Tony asked, wrapping his arms around your waist, startling you out of your thoughts.
“Just can’t get over how lucky we were.” You murmured, watching Steve and Natasha play with Parker and Sarah in the yard. “We got really lucky with this, Tony.”
“I know.”
“We can’t push our luck when it comes to this family. We thought we lost Nat, and we would’ve lost you if you had snapped alone. I don’t know if we’ll ever be this lucky again.” You said, looking up at your husband.
“We probably won’t, but it doesn’t matter, because we’re done. We’re finally stopping. All of us.” He promised, leaning down to connect your lips.
“Gross!” A small voice shrieked, causing you and Tony to pull apart. You saw your husband and wife staring at you both adoringly as the twins watched you with disgusted faces.
“Don’t you like kisses anymore sweethearts?” You teased, pulling out of Tony’s hold and stepping onto the porch. “You two better run, because I think I want to kiss my babies.”
“I think they both are in need of cuddles and kisses.” Tony agreed and the two of you raced towards your family.
The twins shrieked as they ran from the four of you, wanting to avoid capture. But of course they could never escape the four of you.
The day ended with you all layig on the lawn, staring at the sun, and enjoying the embrace of one another.
This is what you fought for. This is why you all fought to stop.
And it was so worth it.

Sugar and Spice Day 3
July 14th
Rock concert (Rockstar/Fan)
“Five minutes till curtains up!” the man ran backstage shouting over the din. Saeran expected a knock on his door shortly and sure enough, it came. Without waiting for an answer, the man opened the door to let him know the time limit. Saeran locked eyes with him through the mirror and nodded.
Once the door was again closed, he stared at himself. He’d long ago bleached his hair white to differentiate himself from his twin. Saeyoung worked in the shadows, it wouldn’t do to have a famous brother who looked exactly like him. He also utilized colored lenses. It served two purposes, he didn’t need to wear glasses, in fact, his fans didn’t even know he needed them, and the mint green was a stark contrast to his regular, amber-colored eyes. The pink tips were a more recent addition, but he liked them.
Black eyeliner was expertly applied, years of practice making it almost effortless. He took a sponge and smudged it, giving himself that perfect edgy look. The earrings were already in, silver crosses dangling on each side of his face. Ironic really, considering he didn’t believe in God. The thick black silver studded collar was snuggly around his neck as was the matching cuff around his right wrist. He stood and grabbed his leather jacket, sliding it on and glancing into the full-length mirror he had been given in his dressing room. He was comfortable in this persona. The music had been a way for him to deal with his life. Writing down his anger, confusion, and loneliness was a way to get it out of him. It became bigger than him pretty quickly and he found that hiding behind rock stardom meant he didn’t have to answer any real questions about his true self. It worked. Except it kept him lonely and alone. He’d come to terms with spending the rest of his life that way. It was easier than imagining being real with someone. Who could ever love the real him anyway?
He smirked at his reflection as he laced up his biker boots. Time to bring the house down!
..
He was soaked in sweat but didn’t feel tired. In fact, he felt invigorated, like every time he finished a concert. Feeding off the audience was one of the biggest perks to his career. Someone handed him a towel and he wiped his face with it.
“Great show Saeran!” one of the concert coordinators told him. She held a tablet to her chest and had a handful of fans behind her. Five doe eyed girls and one shy looking boy. Well, now that he looked closer, he was definitely a man, close to his own age. He looked sheepish being with the teenaged groupies. “These are the VIP’s for tonight’s afterparty. Thought I’d introduce you before you change.”
“Nice! Great to meet you, I’m glad we’ll be hanging out tonight. Hope you have a good time. Congrats on winning the backstage passes.” He regurgitated. There wasn’t always an afterparty but there were some special guests, rich, who had paid for the whole thing, so he’d been pressed to oblige them with an appearance. He hated the politics of being famous, but he did love his fans. It was because of them that he could enjoy what he did. If it was up to him, he’d fill the party with fans and not rich entitled groupies. He knew he would spend the night fending off offers to ‘get to know each other better’ all night.
“Oh my GOD! It’s really you!”
“Wow! You’re so HOT!”
“Ahhh, my friends are never gonna believe this!”
The girls were just cookie cutter versions of every other girl he’d seen. He couldn’t blame them; it’s how they sold his image. The man looked embarrassed; he wouldn’t even look him in the eye. He took the chance to check him out. He appeared to be a tad shorter than himself, with blond hair and pink clips holding back his bangs. He wore one of his concert shirts and tight-fitting skinny jeans. His nails were painted alternating pink and black with the black ones having his band’s logo on it, a mint green eye. So he really was a fan. Cute too.
“Uh, well, like the lady said, I have to go get changed for the party, I’ll see you all there. And be sure to grab your swag bags before you leave, don’t let them rip you off there! There’s a CD with a snippet of some of our new songs.” He winked and walked off. There was a lot of oohing and ahhing as he left.
He took a quick shower and dressed in a ripped black T-shirt, black jeans and his biker boots, putting all his accessories back on and reapplying his eyeliner. Taking a deep breath, he turned and walked out to the convention center next to the arena. Of course he wasn’t alone, he had security that surrounded him and paparazzi snapping pics as he made his way to the party. They screamed questions at him that he didn’t answer, he smirked, the signature look the media had come to know him by. Surrounded by so many yet feeling so alone. Making it next door took longer than it should have because of the circus around him, but make it he did.
Once he was inside he was taken by the arm by the coordinator who had introduced him to the fans, he couldn’t remember her name but she seemed nice enough. At least she didn’t flirt with him like other women did and took her job seriously.
“You’re here, great, first you should go say hi to the Han family, they’re the ones footing the bill for this afterparty, then you can have a few minutes with the fans before talking to some reporters…”
“Whoah.” He stopped in his tracks and could swear she left skid marks with her heels she’d been going so fast. “I want more than just a few minutes with those fans, and who are all these people anyway?” He saw his bandmates and some of the roadies, but everyone else was a stranger.
“Nobody you need to worry about, uh, I’ll see what I can do with the schedule.” She seemed frazzled but clicked away on her tablet while heading off again. He assumed he should follow, so he did.
“Mr. Han, I appreciate you taking the time and effort for this function.” Saeran greeted the elderly man.
“Ah, of course of course, anything for my new bride!” he had his arm around a young woman who was clearly less than half his age. The rumors about C&R’s head were obviously true. Standing on his other side was a tall and elegant man who appeared to wish he was anywhere but here. He’d seen that face plastered on magazines of all sorts. The heir apparent, Director of C&R, Jumin Han. They nodded respectfully at each other, Saeran feeling sorry for the man and having to deal with his father’s escapades, but the old man seemed like a descent sort. After a few minutes of his ‘wife’ fawning all over him, making him feel uncomfortable, the coordinator pulled him away. He was thankful to her for saving him.
She escorted him towards a section in the back, past all the dancing and the loud music, that was closed off. The music was still loud but at least he could hear himself think. In the section the fans sat, eating and drinking snacks on the coffee table. They all stood up and rushed him. Well, the girls did, touching him and giggling. Where were their parents? They didn’t look old enough to be out. They sat him down and pressed against him. The blond man sat to the side in a chair and continued to sip his cola and eat the snacks, sneaking a look now and then. He wished he could just be alone with him and have a conversation. At least he wouldn’t try to crawl on his lap like these girls seemed to want to do. Well, maybe he wouldn’t mind if the blond tried that.
After about 30 minutes, which felt like a lifetime, the coordinator gathered up the girls and took them out. It was past midnight and he guessed he had been right about their age, couldn’t have minors out at all hours of the night. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. It felt like they had leached some of his life force out and he was drained.
“I guess that happens all the time to you huh?”
Saeran sat up abruptly, how could he have forgotten about the blond?
“Sorry, I’ll go if you want to be alone.” He stood and Saeran panicked.
“NO!” he stood, banging his knee on the coffee table, sending him on his ass back on the sofa. He grabbed at the knee, eyes scrunched, “Ow ow ow…”
“Let me see.” Suddenly there was a presence by him as the blond sat beside him, his fingers touching his knee. Because of the ripped jeans, it was easy to see his skin in that area. “Doesn’t look so bad, at least you didn’t break the skin. You’ll have a hell of a bruise though.” The blond raised his gaze to Saeran and he finally got to see the full view. Wow, those eyes knocked him out, was that color even natural? Maybe he was wearing amethyst-colored lenses like what he himself wore. His face was kind, a soft pink flush growing across his cheeks and bridge of his nose. It was adorable.
“Ah, that was really stupid of me. But…I’m glad you didn’t leave. We didn’t even get a chance to chat.” Saeran tried to regain his coolness but found he couldn’t seem to be bothered to try and act in front of this man. “Uh, what’s your name?”
“Yoosung. Don’t have to ask yours I guess.” He smiled, lighting up the entire room.
“Yoosung…I like it.”
“Thanks. I…uh…like you. I mean…I…your music…I…I…like your music…and…uh…I”
Saeran laughed and waved off Yoosung’s explanation.
“So you’re a fan huh? And what…a doctor?” he asked, placing his foot on the ground gently, still rubbing his knee.
“Not quite. But I am going to medical school. And yes, a BIG fan!” his eyes got large, as did his smile. “Your songs spoke to me when I was at a really low point. I don’t know, it felt like you knew what I was going through and understood my pain.” The smile faltered as his thoughts went back to those days. Saeran reached out and placed his hand on Yoosung’s, yes, he knew what it was like to be in pain, he could see it in his eyes.
Their eyes met, an understanding passing between them.

“What’s the point?” for recovering!au?
thank you for the request! sorry this has taken such a long time to get out,  but it’s here now!
trigger warning for eating disorders, relapse and hospitals
“You heading for the OR?” Connor asks, falling into step beside Ava as they exit the lifts together.
“Yep,” confirms Ava. “Got another CABG scheduled. Been almost practically back to back all afternoon. How about you?”
“Surprisingly, I’m free now. Patient cancellation.”
“Lucky you,” Ava grins as her phone pings in her pocket.
Taking it out, her eyes scan the notification, smile dying on her lips.
“Ava?” Connor asks, concern filling his voice as he eyes the expression on Ava’s face.
“It’s Sarah,” she manages, the words heavy in her mouth. “She collapsed in the ED.”
“Again?” Connor remembers the last time this happened, a little over four months ago.
Ava nods, knowing exactly what Connor is thinking. “I have to go,” she says finally. “Could you—“
Connor doesn’t let her finish her sentence.
“Go,” he says, placing a hand over her shoulder. “I’ll take your surgery.”
“Thank you,” Ava whispers, gratitude in her eyes as Connor waves her thanks away, nudging her gently back in the direction of the lifts.
“Let me know how she’s doing, yeah?” She hears him call as she steps into the lift, anxiety filling every inch of her.
The last three or so weeks had been insanely busy, for both Ava and Sarah, what with the way their shifts had worked out. It had meant in the end the two had always ended up missing each other, with one leaving as the other arrived, or one returning when the other was preparing to go. And with that, there had been little communication, other than perhaps a passing hello in the corridor, a kiss goodbye, or a hug before having to get out of bed at some ungodly hour. So having this knowledge, and with what she had just learnt, Ava knew this was a red flag. She knows almost exactly why Sarah had collapsed, and it’s hard for her not to blame herself.
Maybe, she thinks, if she had made more of an effort to ask, had paid more attention, had passed over some of her surgeries or post-ops to Connor, anything so that she could have been there more, she might have seen the signs.
She hopes, oh how she hopes she is wrong, and that this is completely unrelated, and that she is blowing this out of proportion, that there is some other, alternative reason.
But she just can’t shake the sick feeling that pools in her stomach as she exits the lifts beyond the Emergency Department.
She’s wracking her brain, trying to think of any rhyme or reason why this could have happened, if indeed it is what she thinks it is: the thought she just can’t seem to rid her mind of, the one that she keeps coming back to.
“Where is she, Maggie?” Ava asks, on seeing the charge nurse.
“Treatment four,” she hears, and doesn’t stick around for any more, heading straight there, heart beating at what she knows is well beyond the normal rate.
Ava pulls back the curtain to find April adjusting an IV line, while Natalie scrolls through what must be Sarah’s test results on her iPad, concern written across her face.
But her eyes fall on Sarah, lying there, looking so small and frail in her hospital gown.
“What happened?” Ava demands, and April leads her outside, just beyond the curtain, with Natalie following.
“Natalie called her down for a consult. Things were okay until she collapsed right there in front of the patient. Scared us all half to death,” April informs her softly.
“You might want to see these,” Natalie says, and Ava doesn’t miss the sadness in her tone as Natalie hands her the tablet.
It’s just what she had thought they would show, and Ava shakes her head, blinking back tears as she sees how much damage had been done, how much progress had been reversed in just 3 short weeks.
“According to her charts it looks like she’s missed her last two appointments with Dr Richardson. Did you know things were bad with her?” Natalie asks, a hand to Ava’s shoulder, and Ava feels like the worst person in the world.
“No,” she hears herself say, though it doesn’t sound at all like her voice.
This is all your fault. If you had paid more attention, this wouldn’t have happened.
“Ava,” she hears Natalie, noting how the doctor had switched to the voice she often heard her use with paediatric patients. “None of this is your fault.”
It’s as though she can read her mind.
“But it is. Sarah is supposed to be my responsibility,” Ava hates the way her voice sounds, broken, as she runs a hand through her hair.
“Some things you can’t control,” April says beside her. Ava knows she means well, but it’s all just wrong and backwards. Because for Sarah, this was all about control. Ironic, really.
“For now,” Natalie begins, that coaxing voice back, “you should just be with her.”
Ava just nods, letting the curtain fall behind her as April and Natalie take their leave.
She takes a shuddering breath and drags the stool to Sarah’s bedside, where she sits, taking hold of the thin, limp hand of her girlfriend.
“Ava?” Comes a voice, weak beside her, and Ava swears that if she wasn’t a cardiothoracic surgeon, she would have thought her heart had stopped.
“I’m right here, Sarah,” Ava tells her, squeezing her hand gently.
“Where am I?” Sarah asks, a little groggily.
“In the ED. April said you fainted.”
“Oh,” returns Sarah, her voice small, panic filling her face as she notices the IV line in her hand.
“Hey, hey, relax,” Ava croons, taking hold of both Sarah’s hands when she sees how distressed she is. “It’s just some fluids to help give you your strength back. You need them, okay bokkie,” Ava continues, using the pet name.
“No, I don’t! What’s the point?” Sarah cries out, every word punctuated with an agony that pierces Ava’s very soul.
“Nothing I do will work and I’m just so tired. I’m a psychiatrist. I know this is bad! I shouldn’t be having this problem. Ava you know I try, but…” Sarah trails off, and Ava can’t help but notice the way Sarah runs a finger over her clavicle, a subconscious habit she had.
“Sarah, I can’t even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you,” Ava begins after a pause. “But—“
“Then don’t,” Sarah grits out, harshly, cutting Ava off. “Please, Ava, just go,” Sarah practically begs, bunching up the thin bed sheets and turning to face away from her.
Ava sits there, a few moments longer, until it becomes clear that this won’t be going anywhere, that Sarah isn’t ready to talk.
Twisting her hands, she lets out a sigh she hopes is mostly silent.
“Okay,” she says, willing the heaviness in her voice not to be too pronounced. Ava stands and moves to adjust Sarah’s pillow just how she likes it, the only way she can think of right now to give Sarah a little more comfort. “But Sarah,” Ava gently tells her, “I’m here for you, okay. No matter what. Please know that.”
There’s no response. Not even a shift in the bedsheets. And if the machine monitoring Sarah’s vitals wasn’t still beeping quietly in the background, well, Ava doesn’t want to give much rise to that particular thought.
With a final kiss to the top of Sarah’s head, a last attempt to let her know she is here, Ava turns to leave, drawing the curtains back around Sarah.
“Well?” Natalie asks her from her position at the nursing station, breaking away from a conversation with Maggie.
Ava just shakes her head. She doesn’t know quite what to say. What does one say? Besides, Ava really doesn’t wan to have to talk right now. With anyone. All she can think about is how much she had let Sarah down. How she should have been paying attention. And now she couldn’t even get Sarah to talk, much less get to the bottom of what triggered this.
-
It’s windy up on the balcony, and the evening is drawing in as Ava stares out onto the city of Chicago, a hundred thousand lights twinkling below. There’s still no more word from Sarah herself. Only that Ava can gather loud and clear she wants to be left alone. Which is especially hard to know.
“Hey,” a voice says beside her, making Ava jump. The fact she didn’t even hear him coming is a telltale sign something is wrong. Ava normally never misses anything.
“Your CABG went off without a hitch,” he begins lightly, trying to gauge Ava’s mood.
“Wish I could say the same about other things,” Ava deadpans, staring off into the distance, her focus on nothing in particular.
“How’s Sarah?” Connor frowns, leaning against the railing.
“Nat messaged to say she’s being transferred up to a bed to stay overnight for observation. She still doesn’t want to see me.” It comes out a little cold, detached. And honestly, Ava’s just feeling more than a little numb right now, so that assessment it’s about right.
“She’ll come ‘round,” Connor assures, putting an arm around Ava, who leans into him.
“Ooh my ears are burning,” comes a familiar voice from behind.
“Oh, hey Nat,” Ava manages a weak, sort of washed-out smile.
“How are you holding up?”
How was she? How did one answer that? How was someone dealing with all of this supposed to be?
Connor’s phone buzzes, breaking the silence.
“It’s Latham,” he says, checking.
“You’d better go,” Ava tells him, grateful for the diversion.
“It’s gonna be okay, Aves. You’re gonna get through this. You both are.”
“Thanks,” Ava sniffs as Connor pulls her into a tight hug, wanting desperately to believe his every word.
And then he’s gone.
“How’s Sarah,” Ava asks, eyes trained on the spot Connor had just vacated. She’s almost afraid to hear the answer.
“Pretty much the same. I’ve paged Dr Charles though. I hope you don’t mind?”
Ava shakes her head sadly. “Maybe he’ll have better luck than me.”
“Oh, Ava,” Natalie hums, holding her close, up there on the balcony. She doesn’t even care that Nat is probably using some of the tactics she uses on kids down in the ED. Because all Ava wants to do is believe things will be okay.
“How about I drive you back to yours so we can grab some things for Sarah?” Natalie suggests, filling the silence, smoothing Ava’s hair.
Ava agrees with a small nod. That seems like a logical suggestion. And in any case, she’s not sure she should be driving herself anywhere right now.
“Great,” Natalie says softly, her arms still safely around Ava. “And Ava, I promise you: everything will work out. It may not seem like it right now, but it will.”
There’s a fierceness in her voice, and Ava just clings to her. She wants to believe her. Wants it to be true with her whole heart. Because it has to be.
