• when you and Joel started dating, you felt as if you'd won the lottery, literally, because you couldn't believe a man like him would settle with you

• you were a beautiful woman with a lot of qualities but Joel was just... Something else

• he was so handsome and sexy, you didn't remember seeing a man, a real life man being that hot, with the exception of celebrities of course, but Joel was real, and he was yours

• not to mention his other great qualities, such as a hardworking man, a great father, a protective person... He was everything you'd ever dreamed of, and you still were starstruck and simply couldn't believe how lucky you got

• there was also the age gap, which meant Joel was older than you, but unlike popular assumption, it didn't bother either of you, it was fine if he was older, you even liked it, as it was kinda hot to you, and Joel didn't mind the fact you were younger, he loved you for who you were, so your age or your looks were irrelevant

• and even if the age gap didn't actually bother you, it still made you feel insecure; especially because you were always anxious and scared that some day Joel would find a woman closer to him in age, a woman who would actually share the same interests and steal him from you

• most days you could actually hide it, pretend that feeling wasn't haunting you whenever you found yourself and Joel around beautiful, mature women, but there was something about Tess that made you lose your shit

• she liked Joel, you knew it, and you were pretty sure something happened between them at some point, but what seemed to have been just an important affair to him, was definitely more intense to her; that was the only explanation why she still made everything at her power to flirt with and seduce him

• you hated her, you hated how she simply pretended you didn't exist in order to come and talk to Joel batting her eyes at him and displaying wide smiles, or how she laughed too hard at his jokes, because let's face it, Joel isn't that funny, or she always touched his arms for no reason

• and she was also closer to him in age, and even if you were petty and you didn't deny it and to you Tess was an ugly cunt, you'd heard some people saying she was a beautiful woman and that made you very insecure

• because not only was she more suitable to him in that matter, but she was also very similar to Joel, they liked horses, they were tough, and she drank like a man, which made you afraid one day Joel could simply get tired of playing dating with you and go after her

• it all happened when you and Joel decided to go out to eat for no reason, it was a regular wednesday evening, but he felt like spending some time with you, and perhaps taking you out for a steak and some pasta was a good way to show you he'd missed you during the day, which you quickly said yes

• you were so happy and excited to go out with him, Joel looked so handsome with his hair slicked back and his flannel shirt rolled up to his elbows, you would let him take you right there and then on that table for anyone to see if he wanted to, but before you both continue your date night, you saw a female hand on his shoulder

"oh my god, Joel, hi!"

• Tess said with such enthusiasm it could only have been fake; she grinned at him and completely ignored your presence, Joel felt embarrassed at her exaggerated reaction and cleared his throat, you didn't say anything and simply got up, going to the restroom and tried controlling your anger and jealousy

• when you came back, Tess was nowhere to be seen, but you couldn't stop yourself from thinking about her, you hated how she looked at Joel, how she desired him in front of everyone and didn't even bother hiding it, you hated how other women did the same, staring and glancing down at your man, to the point it made you so upset you felt empty for a while

• so the rest of dinner was awkward, as you were pretty much on autopilot, barely replying to Joel's questions and words and only focusing on your food and nothing else; you didn't know why it made you feel like that, but it did and it was so odd as if you were trying to push him away

• Joel knew something was up, you were pretty much ignoring him and pretending he wasn't at the table with you, and that hurt and annoyed him, however, he knew he couldn't get any information from you, so he waited until dinner was over

• then, you both went back to his place, you were still silent for most of the time and monosyllabic towards him, even when he placed his hand on your knee and went up a little much to your thigh, you didn't react very much

• once you both got inside, he didn't wait before gripping your waist and pressing you against the wall, seeing you couldn't resist him, as you kissed him back, claiming him as yours as your hands began unbuttoning his shirt, wanting to undress him once for all

• until he held your hands in place and made you stop: he wasn't going to do anything if you didn't tell him what the heck was going on and you knew he meant business, so you sighed and looked down, feeling embarrassed and ashamed of your feelings, but you decided to open up

• you told him about your insecurities, about how you thought he wasn't going to take you seriously because you were sure some day he'd find a better woman for himself, how you feared losing him, and how you hated Tess and the way she behaved towards him all the time

• and Joel's eyes went so soft, the way he was caught off guard by your confession but immediately understood what was up with you and he felt relieved to know you were just insecure, relieved to see the problem wasn't him, that it wasn't because you didn't love him anymore or because you didn't want to be with him, but rather because you were afraid of losing him

• and at that, he knew he had to do something and come forward and tell you his feelings and let you know how he felt

"that's madness, honey... I love you and I'd never want another woman, you are mine, I ain't never giving you up, one day you'll be my wife, mark my words"

• he whispered against your lips, reassuring you of his feelings, nothing could come between you, not after you both came clean about your feelings, seeing you loved each other 💕

Basically, I really really struggle reading multi-part fics... I’m not sure exactly why, I think my brain just gets easily muddled the minute anything goes beyond a part 3, I lose the plot and end up rereading the first bits all over again just to work out what the original plot is😅 especially if I’m reading lots at once! I’m subscribed to your Patreon and absolutely love being there❤️ but we get lots of squeals I feel? No complaints of course, I just find them a bit tricker to keep up with! I was wondering by any chance if you have a routine for posting one shots/ maybe two parters vs posting a series? I adore your writing and don’t want to miss out. You don’t owe me an answer to this at all of course, but it’d be great to know how often to expect a one shot I can sink my teeth into!

Hi hon! Thank you for the support! This is so nice :) I try to stay hydrated but some days are better than others haha! I hope you're staying hydrated too!

I get the whole thing with the series. Sometimes I'm the same when I'm reading fic, so definitely understand :)

I try to give y'all one shots, I swear. But when I start writing sometimes there's a story to tell and it can't be all posted in a quick one shot (usually) and I hate rushing through a story. The one shots are more filler content with less plot overall and my favorite is the slow burn with a real story when I'm writing and it's not easy to get that good slow burn and pining when we're clipping the story at 10k words or something. It's just how the process works out when I'm writing.

In all honesty, I'd like to write book length stuff for y'all so I can really delve into the characters and you really see the vision. But with the way Patreon is set up I have to continuously be posting for anyone to stay interested so it's going to be posted one part per week for me to maintain. It's a tricky spot for me to be in to please everyone as much as possible. Most prefer multi-part series over one-shots (based on feedback and likes) and I'm often asked for more of a one-shot that I felt happy with ending it where it was but for the sake of making subscribers happy I extend the one shot and make it into a mini series - like hothusband and boss!harry for example.

And, if I post 2 parts of the same series in the same week I get complaints about it being too much at once and if I skip an update on a series one week then I get complaints about that too.

I'm just trying to make the majority happy. I love doing one shots too (they're typically a lot easier to write bc they're low plot stories) but they don't get as much attention as my series do.

I know I totally rambled, I'm just trying to explain a little bit of why you get more series than one shots. I've been at this for just over a year and about 7 or so months in, I realized the one shots just aren't as popular among my readers or the reader wants more parts.

Also, I don't know if I'd call any parts of the mini series sequels because every part is all the same mini series. And like once I'm done with each series or mini series they can all be read at once.

That's not to say I don't have more one shots coming. I'm working on a 2 parter and a couple of one shots for Patreon but can't say when they'll be ready.

I'm sorry the content isn't keeping you engaged! That's a big fear of mine for people to start reading and then it gets boring or the previous part wasn't memorable so you have to go back. I never want that to happen with my writing but I know my stuff's not always the most exciting so I understand losing the plot after a couple of parts as a reader is frustrating on your end too. Not what I hope to hear for feedback but I appreciate you telling me nonetheless. Thank you, hon 💕

What is up with this immortal Queen? What kind of personality she is, what kind of relationship she has with the others? What the other characters think about her and what she thinks about Jaisse? Also, if it’s not too spoilery, what was her motivation to make herself immortal through the Hour?

Okay, so the queen!!!! Before the Hour, 100 years ago, Camile (name still pending, not sure if it totally fits the character even if I like the name itself) was a solider in the Correlaine army (back when they had a tranditional army before they had to put all their marital prowess into...you know...fighting monsters once the Hour happened). She was very dutiful, very caring, and lived to protect the ones she loved.

Then the Hour happened, in all its abruptness. Amid the chaos, when she was able to quickly piece together that OH! MAGIC?? REAL MAGIC??? IS A THING NOW???? She realized that the number one way she would want to suddenly use these divine(????) powers is to make it so that she could be strong enough to protect others, to be able to not fear putting her life on the line in defense of the weak! Most people who were able to grasp magic during the Hour weren't able to use it in the exact, specific way to make yourself permanently immortal, so that drive to protect others indefinitely is what really made it "work". (The magic during the Hour was more or less limitless, but very finicky in how it manifested if you tried to will into reality something especially big or powerful!)

During the events of the novel, 100 years later, she's been elected queen for about uhhhhh 50 years now? She's incredibly popular with her people (hence why she keeps getting elected), and still cares very much for her land. She has the commitment, care, and experience to be a great leader, supported of course by her elected advisors.

Because of her long-livedness, however, she is beginning to somewhat lose touch with individuals, looking mostly towards the long term rather than the short term (and for her, the "short term" could count for like....an entire normal lifetime). She's definitely not dismissive nor does she deliberately dehumanize others; it's simply a side effect of one being alive for that long and seeing time stretched out before you. She's met (and lost) so many people. After the Hour and with advances in magic every day, she's seen civilization change (and continue to change) at a rapid pace, so it's hard for her to stay "in the moment" at all times. Her family certainly loves her, and she loves them and does her best to keep track of them as individuals, but there is always that weird tension as she's been, and will be, around for her children's entire life, but they are only in a fraction of her own.

no one asked but here’s the anime I’ve watched while in the pandemicverse and my thoughts on them. it’s actually a Lot for me bc I never really watched the genre ever in my life before these quote unquote unprecedented times. and yeah also these are all pretty much only the current popular ones but I’m not sitting through 60 seasons of naruto & friends or something obscure like “my sister turned into a left shoe and jumped 12,000 years into the future” so anyway here ya go

my hero academia: I like this one, it’s fun and upbeat with lots of kooky characters. I heard the fans are cringe compilation station tho but thankfully I can’t read 8/10

demon slayer: still in the process of watching this one and it slaps but man it definitely loses some points for me when they introduce those super demon slayers whatever they’re called, the ones w/ the single personality trait each and the worst character designs in history. legit looks like the circus came to town whenever they’re on screen. 8/10

jujutsu kaisen: i, from the bottom of my heart, don’t understand the plot of this one at all but the art style and soundtrack are completely insane 9.5/10

dr. stone: one of my favs this show literally gets me hyped over some guy making a lightbulb 10/10

bungou stray dogs: I thought this was like your boilerplate anime before I realized i was watching two anime emo supremes fight f. scott fitzgerald on top of blimp that’s actually moby dick reimagined and careening out of the sky at 1000 miles an hour then I figured it was actually something really special 10/10

one piece: I did not and will not watch all 1000 episodes of this but I hear it play on tv when my husband watches it and it makes him super happy and I love him so 10/10 ❤️

promised neverland: I can’t remember watching this but it’s showing up as continue watching on hulu so uh 3/10

attack on titan: 3 seasons of ??? and then another of war crimes idk maybe 6.5/10 because I think the plot is interesting but a little 2 scary 4 me

tokyo ghoul: what a darksided sad depressing show why do you all like it so much are you okay. i seriously thought I’d need (more) therapy after season 1, season 2 was boring, and then it became completely unwatchable 2/10

blue exorcist: fun show but ended as soon as it really started, legit a prologue to a show that never came so that was weird 6/10 (no I’m not checking out the books i don’t need supplemental reading material for anime)

fire force: thought it was cute at first then it got very strange and intense. plot is complete mumbo jumbo but im always rooting for fire feet boy so I guess it’s good because it makes me care. also the second intro song fucks 8/10

tokyo revengers: actually a very poignant story about gang violence but also has the most nonsensical use of time travel ive ever seen in a piece of media outside of a m4rvel property but also why are they all like 12 lmao 7/10

You’re right; as much as I loved hosting these challenges, it was clear people were gradually losing more interest and it got harder and harder to get the minimum of three entries for the challenges. So I kinda HAD to stop doing them 😂

You’ll be happy... or perhaps disappointed actually, that Nostalgic November was actually one of the ideas. After Slash September (the last challenge to ever see the day) there was gonna be Obscure October and then Nostalgic November.
