Death would be better ch.1
Who loves angst!! linked universe mixed with the fallen timeline. Warning for philologically abuse and mental manipulation (also some light reference to attempted suicide)
-
Link struggled very weakly as he spat up a bit of blood, the demon king likely destroyed one of his organs with the throw he was just given.
‘The demon planned for this’ Link thought as he struggled to move trying to raise his head to glare at the bastard. He had been waiting in the temple, and Link hadn’t even noticed until it was too late. By the time the stones were put into place, Link found himself being thrown across the room, hitting one of the pillars.
The Gerudo king went into a room, likely what held the Triforce from what he heard from Zelda. However when Link felt the burning in the back of his hand in the shape of a triangle he knew his fate was sealed. Link would die at the hands of Ganon, the little glow on his hand says it.
“Navi, find Zelda. Tell her what happened. Please.” Link begged his little fairy friend to abandoning him; he knew he wouldn’t be able to get up in time and make his escape.
Link had to smack Navi to get her the courage to run away. Ganon finally came back into the room, glaring at the little hero who just glared back. This was the hero's death but he wouldn’t give Ganon the satisfaction of knowing he's scared.
Just then the Demon King glare becomes a smile, making Links glare falter; Navi had taken this moment to try to fly out towards the window.
Ganon snatched the fairy as she tried to fly secretly by the king…...Then he crushed the fairy.
“NAVI!!”
-
“NAVI!” Link screamed jumping up out of bed, breathing heavily trying to catch his breath.
‘It’s just a dream, it’s just a dream’ Link tried to say to himself, trying to calm himself down….’but it wasn’t a dream’.
Link could feel the heavy chain around his ankle that’s other end was hooked to the bed, a measure that was taken after Link had tried to jump out of the window.
Link didn’t know why Ganon hadn't killed him, honestly he wished he had been killed, it was better than the hell he was in now.
Ganon had been playing the role of Link’s ‘adopted father’, caring for him, trying to keep him to eat. He knew that Ganon was planning something big by keeping up his act. If it wasn’t for Link's fading memory maybe the traumatized child would have believed him.
The thoughts of his memories made Link curl back onto the bed trying not to cry. There are things he should remember, places and people that seemed so recognizable but yet their names escaped him, and soon after the faces would become a blur as well.
His latest frustration came in the form of a goron, a big chief with a big belly laugh that could shake death mountain but yet when he tried to remember his name it came up a blank; the details of his face slowly blurring in his mind. There was no doubt that if Ganon brought end for another ‘healing session’ the gorons and death mountain would be nothing more than wisps of memory, begging for attention from the back of his mind.
Link curled up into a tighter ball, the movement irritating the wounds on his arms showing the many attempts to end his personal hell.
‘Why couldn’t Ganon just kill me?”
-
“Why do you bother keeping the kid around?” “Yeah you should have just killed him” Koume and Kotake muttered to the Gerudo king from their brooms, as the gerudo king did everything in his power to ignore his mothers. He deals with their whining everyday so the ignore was par for the course.
“Answer before we poison the boy” Koume said, flying closer to her son, who glare intensified with threat.
“You know damn why, if we kill the brat his soul will just be reborn. It will be impossible to get rid of him, like a cockroach” Ganon said with a sneer.
“Then why are you playing house? Why waste all these resources?” Kotake joined in obviously plotting to kill the child.
“Because imagine what will happen if that little brat is on our side?” Ganondorf said with a twisted smile “A young scared child toss by the side by the goddess. Eventually he will question what’s real, he will eventually give in and accept what fate has in store. Can’t you just imagine it?” Ganon said stretching his arms wide across the map of Hyrule. “Power and Courage both under my control, and my would-be-killer taking my word as law”
“So how long are you planning on playing house?” One of his mothers asked but Ganondorf had no idea which one.
“Until his mind finally breaks and he accepts his reality” Ganon said turning around to glare at his mother “It would be easier if two certain witches didn’t keep overloading his brain, nearly killing him” The two witches just rolled their eyes.
“Leave me be” Ganon said, turning back to the map as he gestures for his mothers to leave him be. Being left alone with his thoughts he started to review his plan. It would take a little more to break the little one’s spirit, but he knew he was on the right path. Grabbing the Triforce of power gave him a glance into the timelines, he could see what that child would become. That child's fate if he doesn’t die was to become a great warrior, something that could defeat a god. Why not mould that would be hero into his army's most powerful general?
Speaking of which it was time to visit his son.
-
“Wake up my prince” Nifari said, throwing open the curtains of the room. It had been pleasant being moved into the wonderful castle, however her job had been assigned looking after the young adopted hero.
The young hero curled up under the covers trying to hide away from the world. The Gerudo smiled as she put down the breakfast porridge on the side table as she pulled the covers off the child.
The young warrior smiled as she physically helped the child move into a sitting position, it slightly broke her heart. Their king told us the story of them taking their rightful place in the castle. However she couldn’t help her heart breaking when Ganon told us the story of this little child. The child was cursed by the hylians to only see the evil in the world, filled with paranoia and fear. Maybe her smile and kindness could help break the stupid curse.
“Come on, it’s time to eat” Nifari said as she grabbed the bowl offering a spoon full of porridge to the child. Sadly the child moved away his face away, making the gerudo face drop; she had noticed how much weight the little boy lost. “Come on our little sun, eat”
The young gerudo words were cut off by the sound of a door opening, she looked up to see the king entering. She sat down the food and bowed towards her king.
The King all but ignored her and went to his adopted son.
“Hey Link, how are you feeling?” The male gerudo asked as he went to go put his hand on the boys head. Link quickly moved away as best as he could, avoiding eye contact. The king just seemed to sigh before taking a glance over the boy.
“Has he been eating?” Ganon asked the gerudo in change of the prince.
“No sir, I’ve been trying to get him to eat but he won't,” Nifari said with her head down wondering what punishment might await her. However the king didn’t give her a punishment, instead turning back to the child.
“You need to eat, Link. Why aren’t you eating?” Ganon said in the softest voice he could, however that didn’t stop the kids from flinching away.
"I don't like it" Link whimpered out in a gravely voice that just sounded like it hurt his throat. Ganon expression read of shock, he had been convince the hero was mute, after his scream for his fairy the boy hadn't said a word, not a peep. However to Ganon this was progress.
"Well we can make something you like. What do you want to eat?" Ganon said in a voice used for kids, not knowing how insulting the little hero found it.
"I want meat. Steak, chicken, meat" The hero stated as he stares at the king. The king noticed how the boy scratched at the wraps on his arm, his past attempts with anything sharp.
"No" Ganon states clear as day "Your past behavior shows you can't be trusted with sharp objects. You will stay on soup and portage until I know you won't hurt yourself" Ganon lost the harshness in his voice trying to take on a softer tone "I'm sorry I can't do that. Is their anything else I can do to make you happy?"
Link's face just held a glare in a way Ganon couldn't read.
"I want Navi" Link states with as much confidence as he could. He knew what he was doing, he was trying to poke holes in Ganon's story, trying to make him mad. Maybe in the end Ganon will finally just snap and end his torment.
"Alright, I'll asked her mother if she can spend the night at the castle, I know you miss-" Ganon went off happily, as if it was the easiest request he had heard.
"No!" Link screamed "I want my fairy!"
Both Ganon and Nifari were taken aback.
"Link...there was never any fairies. Fairies don't exists" Ganon said softly.
"No!" Link screamed out jumping up from the bed "She was my fairy! My Guide and you stole her from me! You killed her!" Link made a jump at the Gerudo king however Nifari had grabbed him trying to hold him back.
The boy screamed many different things, mostly horrible names towards Ganon as tears ran down his face.
"Your majesty what's wrong?!" Nifari screamed out in a panic as she held the screaming boy to her body.
"This might be from the curse the Hyilans cast. We need to get my mothers in here" Ganon suggested.
At the suggestion of Ganon's mothers Link screaming turned up by 50%, full out flailing crying and screams for help. It had gotten so bad that Nifari  had to take some steps back or risk Link breaking out of her hold.
Right next to the bathroom's glass door
Link saw his opportunity so he reached his head to one side before swing it into the door.
CRAAASH
Link felt warmed and light headed, he could hear screaming around him but he didn't care as the darkness took hold.
Somewhere in the land a portal open up and 9 adventures with the same name stepped through.
The Link's walked through the portal, confused on which world they were in now.
"Does this look familiar to anyone?" Legend asked as they took at the dark sky. Many nodded no.
Time couldn't help a gut feeling he had as this hyrule looked so similar to his after his 7 year nap. But something in his mind was telling him it was much worse.

The Gray Hair
Today, my father appoints Link as my bodyguard. I'm nervous. Excited. Scared. He's seventeen and I'm sixteen, so if we were made for each other we wouldn't be able to tell until I turn seventeen.
I put on the ceremonial dress that I made, and prepared myself for the ceremony. Okay, Zelda, I thought to myself. Don't let your family down.
There was a lot of pressure on me. I was the one who chose the champions, with the exception of Link, so if they fail it's on me. I have faith in them, but not in me. Nobody has faith in me. My seventeenth birthday is coming up, and I still haven't unlocked my ancient sealing power.
I shoved the thoughts out of my head. Don't think like that today, Zelda. You have to be confident.
It was almost time. I took a deep breath, and headed towards the Sanctum. The ceremony was boring, but my father seemed to be genuinely proud of me when he spoke. How he beamed about the way I had made the champions guards.
Once the main ceremony had ended, we went over to the Sacred Grounds. Some of the other champions had wanted me to put on a special ceremony to welcome Link. I was excited for it, but I acted bored the whole ceremony.
I could hear them talking about me as I recited my lines, but I didn't really care. I was just focused on the blonde haired boy with bright blue eyes in front of me.
Gosh he looks good in that tunic...
The mini ceremony seemed to take longer than the actual ceremony. Once we had finally finished, I showed the champions the Sheikah Slate.
There was an odd feature on it, one where it can somehow capture a true to life image and save it. It was called a "picture," I believe.
Mipha asked if we could take a picture of all of us together. I, of course, said yes. Daruk decided to photo bomb the picture, but it was still good. After all of that was over, Link and I mounted our horses and rode towards Sanidin Park.
Once we got there, we dismounted our horses and I walked over to the part of the the park that looks towards the mountains.
"See that mountain?" I asked. "That's Mt. Lanayru. It takes its name from the Goddess of Wisdom. Lanayru's decree is very specific. It says: 'No one is allowed, under the age
of seventeen, for only the wise are permitted a place upon the mountain.' I've prayed at the Spring of Courage and at the Spring of Power,
yet neither awoke anything inside me. But maybe up there, perhaps the Spring of Wisdom, the final of the three, will be the one.
To be honest, I have no real reason to think
that will be the case. But there's always the chance that the next moment will change everything. Tomorrow... is my seventeenth birthday. So then I shall go. And make my way up the mountain."
He didn't say anything. He never does. I was thinking something I didn't say, though. His birthday is before mine. Tomorrow I will turn seventeen. I will be able to see if I've met my soulmate. I can't help but hope that it's Link...
...
Today's the day. It's my seventeenth birthday, and the day I go to Mt. Lanayru. And the day I can tell if Link's my soulmate or not...
                     ...
Link and I climb back down from the mountain, my head hung low in defeat.
"Well? Don't keep us in suspense. How'd everything go up there on the mountain?" Daruk asks.
All I did was shake my head, still looking down in shame.
"So you didn't feel anything?" Revali chimed in. "No power at all?"
      "I'm sorry, no."
"Then let's move on." Said Urbosa. She had always been like a mother figure to me. "You've done all you could. Feeling sorry for yourself won't be of any help. After all, it's not like your last shot was up there on Mt. Lanayru. Anything could finally spark the power to seal Ganon away. We just have to keep looking for that... thing."
"That's kind of you. Thank you." I said, feeling a little bit better.
"If I may," Mipha said. "I thought you, well, I'm not sure how to put this into words. I'm actually quite embarrassed to say it. But I was thinking about what I do when I'm healing. You know, what usually goes through my mind. It helps when I think - when I think about -"
She was cut off by the entire world shaking. Revali shot up into the air and gasped. There was an - an entity coming out of the castle.
      "It's here." Said Urbosa.
"This is it, then." Said Daruk.
      "Are you sure?" Mipha asked.
      "Positive." Said Revali.
"It's awake..." I said, my voice trembling. "Ganon!"
"Let's stop wasting time!" Shouted Daruk. "We're gonna need everything we got to take
that thing down! Now Champions! To your Divine Beasts! Show that swirling swine who's boss! Link will need to meet Ganon head on when we attack! This needs to be a unified assault! Little guy! You get to Hyrule Castle. You can count on us for support, but it's up to you to pound Ganon into oblivion!"
"Come." Says Urbosa, gently grabbing my shoulders. "We should go. We need to get you someplace safe."
I thought for a moment. You're the princess! You're supposed to have this "ancient sealing power" that can seal Ganon away! You can't just sit back and watch from afar, you have to do something!
"No!" I shouted, getting out of Urbosa's grip. "I am not a child anymore! I may not be much use on the battlefield, but there must - there must be something I can do to help!"
"Go with Link." Said Revali. "He is your knight, after all."
Urbosa looked at Link. "Is that okay?"
He gave a curt nod. Why doesn't he ever talk? I thought.
And with that, the champions all ran to their divine beasts. Who knew they were also running to their deaths.
...
Link and I were running. Running anywhere, really. Anywhere but here. Where our friends, our families, our homes, had been destroyed. I broke down, falling onto my knees. I must've looked so weak. So broken. So useless.
"How..." I said to Link, who was on his knees in front of me now. "How did it come to this? The Divine Beasts... the Guardians... they've all turned against us... It was... Calamity Ganon. It turned them all against us! And everyone—Mipha, Urbosa, Revali and Daruk... they're all trapped inside those things... it's all my fault! Our only hope for defeating Ganon is lost all because I couldn't harness this cursed power. Everything—everything I've done up until now... it was all for nothing... so I really am just a failure! All my friends... the entire kingdom... my father most of all... I tried, and I failed them all... I've left them... all to die." I was sobbing into Link's arm at this point.
He tucked some of my blonde hair behind my ear, and then looked shocked at something.
"What?" I asked. "What is it?"
He shook his head. "Nothing, Princess."
Did he just talk to me? I thought, and despite myself, I smiled.
Our moment was interrupted, however, when the ground shook once again.
He took my hand again, and we continued our running.
                                ...
There were guardians. Everywhere you looked, there were guardians. We were hiding behind some of the remains of ones that Link had killed. He was so beat up, so bruised and bloody. He couldn't take much more.
"Link, save yourself!" I shouted at him. "Go! I'll be fine! Don't worry about me!"
He struggled to get up as I heard the noise. The noise of another guardian.
He stood in front of me, ready to die.
"No!" I said, getting in front of him as the guardian took aim. "No!" I shouted, louder this time. I put my hand in the air, as if trying to signal to the guardian to stop.
Then I felt something. I can't quite describe it, it was like there was sadness, and love, and anger, all coming off of me. Something gold flew out of my hand as the Triforce symbol appeared.
"Was, was that...? The power...?" I heard a thump behind me as I questioned what just happened.
"No, no..." I said as I saw Link collapsed on the ground behind me. "Link! Get up! You're going to be just fine..." He looked at me one last time. His eyes were apologetic, like he was saying sorry for dying. His eyes closed as his head fell onto my shoulder.
I put his head down and cried into his still chest. I looked at his face, and the closed eyes that used to be bluer than the sky. I tucked a stray piece of hair out of his face, and gasped at what I saw.
A piece of gray hair, right behind his ear. "What...?" I said. "Oh no," I looked behind my ear. Sure enough, there was a matching gray strand right were Link's is.
"No!" I shouted. "No no no no no! We were soulmates! We were going to grow old together! Why?!" I was sobbing into his chest.
Suddenly, I heard an odd noise. I looked up, and the Master Sword was flashing.
"The sword...?" I said.
Take him to the Shrine of Resurrection. Said an odd voice inside my head.
"So he can, he can still be saved?"
Yes. It said. There, he will be healed. He will have no memory when he wakes up, and his body will not be like it used to be, but he will still be the chosen one. He will always be the chosen one, for courage need not be remembered.
My head perked up when I heard Sheikah warriors coming towards me.
"Princess!" They shouted. "Princess! Are you alright?"
I had a gleam in my eye. I knew what I had to do.
"Take Link to the Shrine of Resurrection. If you don't get him there immediately, we are going to loose him forever! Is that clear?!"
They nodded.
"So make haste and go! His life is now in your hands!"
They took my soulmate, and as much as it hurt to see him go, I knew that I'd see him again.
I stood up and looked at the castle, where that evil creature that ruined my life was making itself at home.
"I'm going to see him again." I told myself. "I don't care if I have to wait a hundred years in that castle, I'm going to see him again!"
My head held high, I marched towards the castle.
...
Finally. The time has come. It's been one hundred years, and it's finally time for Link to wake up from the Shrine of Resurrection. Who knew that when I said I'd wait a hundred years I actually would?
"...Open your eyes..." I said, or at least tried to. It took a lot of my energy to talk to him, so it would take a bit of time until he could hear me clearly.
"Open your eyes..." I tried again.
"Open your eyes." This time, I got through completely. "Wake up, Link."
He sat up, and looked around confused. It pained me to see him like this. He didn't remember me, or Mipha, or Daruk, or Revali, or anybody else. All the memories we shared... they were gone.
He walked to the pedestal that the Sheikah Slate sat on. "That is a Sheikah Slate. Take it. It will help guide you after your long slumber." I had always known that the Sheikah Slate was meant for the hero who weld the Master Sword, but I had grown quite attached to the object. I would give anything to him, though.
He continued to walk into the other room, and opened the two chests that contained his clothes. They had been brand new a hundred years ago, but now they were old and worn down.
He walked over to the other pedestal. "Hold the Sheikah Slate up to the pedestal. That will show you the way." He followed my instructions, and walked through the door once it opened.
He ran outside, and looked off of a small cliff at the world around him. The world that he used to know like the back of his hand. The world that was completely new to him all over again.
"Link..." I began. "You are the light - our light - that must shine upon Hyrule again. Now go." I stopped using my energy to talk to him, but continued to watch.
He talked to my father, who he didn't recognize, and then started walking again. I stopped him, using my energy again.
"...Link..." Come on...
"Link..." Almost there...
"Link." Yes! "Head for the point marked on the map in your Sheikah Slate."
He got out the Slate, and confusedly looked at the point and started towards it.
I continued to focus my energy on talking to him, because I knew it wouldn't take him long to find the tower.
Sure enough, he found the tower and put the Sheikah Slate on the pedestal. He fell back as the tower, along with all of the other towers, rose from the ground.
My heart hurt. He didn't remember me at all. I was his soulmate, he should at least remember me!
"Remember," I said. "Try - try to remember. You have been asleep for the past one hundred years. The beast - when the beast regains its true power, this world will face its end. Now then, you must hurry, Link. Before it's too late..." I faded off in the end as I was completely drained. I was using too much energy.
...
Oh my gosh. It's finally happening. He remembers, he's fully recovered, and he's about to fight Ganon. I'm more scared then I've ever been in my life, but also excited. Excited that I'll get to see him, I'll get to talk to him, I'll get to touch him.
But I'm so weak. I know that the moment he walks in I'll have to let Ganon go. I just hope Link is strong enough...
He finally walked in. I used the last of my energy to talk to him.
"...Link.."
"Link..."
I didn't even wait until I could fully talk to him. "I'm sorry... but my power isn't strong enough..."
Ganon moved, like he knew he was about to be set free. "I can't hold him."
And with that, I let go. I let the beast that could possibly kill my soulmate go. And I fell, I fell into the sky. I don't exactly know how it works, but I fell into the sky.
It was like the sky was the ground, and I could see right through the ground. Below me was Hyrule Field. I panted, lying on the "ground."
Rain had started as the castle shook. I began recovering soon, and within an hour I felt normal. I had forgotten what normal felt like. It was not being surrounded by a wall made of goo on all sides. I could breathe. It felt wonderful.
I wondered if I could watch Link. I just kinda... I don't really know. It was like I willed myself to the castle and I went there. I was still in the air, but I was watching it. Soon, Link delivered the final blow.
But something wasn't right. Ganon turned to dust and flew out of the castle. Oh no, I thought. He's going to turn into Dark Beast Ganon! I quickly teleported Link to Hyrule Field, and also grabbed one of his horses.
"...Ganon..." I said. For some reason, I was still struggling to get through to him.
"Ganon...
"Ganon." I finally got it.
"Ganon was born out of a dark past. He is a pure embodiment of the ancient evil that is reborn time and time again." The form Ganon was taking started to appear now. It was a giant warthog like creature, completely covered in malice.
"He has given up on reincarnation and assumed his pure, enraged form. If set free upon our world, the destruction will be unlike anything ever seen before."
My mind raced, thinking of what I could do to help him. To do to save him. Then I thought of the most powerful weapon that the goddesses ever created, the Bow of Light.
I used my powers to bring it down out of the sky and give it to Link.
"I entrust you with the Bow of Light - a powerful weapon in the face of evil."
I suddenly remembered what the Master Sword had said to me one hundred years ago. If I ever wanted to touch him again, he would need to win this fight.
"Link, you may not be at a point where you have fully recovered your power or all of your memories, but courage need not be remembered."
With that, he mounted his horse and rode towards the giant beast before him.
I made glowing Triforce symbols where he needed to strike with the Bow of Light, so that he knew where the weak spots were. Eventually, he shot the last arrow into Ganon's eye.
And then, the ground fell. I shot down, but for some reason I was going up. Ganon was whipping his head around as I came out of his body.
I was surrounded by the yellow light of my power. I bowed my head, and let out a silent prayer.
Please, I prayed. Let it end here.
I floated down onto the ground so that I was facing the beast. I looked up, and Ganon lowered his head to, as if he was going to buck me away with his head.
I didn't even flinch.
As I erupted in a flash of golden light, Ganon tried to get away. He didn't think he was going to loose. He was attempting to enter the stages of reincarnation again.
Sorry, I thought. I can't let you do that.
I watched him for a bit with fake pity in my eyes. Toying with him, just like he had toyed with me. I raised my arm as he swooped back down towards me, and delivered the final blow.
A giant orb of gold came out of my hand, trapping the beast. A large Triforce symbol was on the circle. It and the orb got bigger as Ganon struggled more.
Then, it all stopped. The giant, golden, orb shrunk into a small, black, one.
It's over. I thought. After all this time, it's finally over.
The sky opened up, and the awful mixture of red and black turned into a beautiful blue.
I faced the castle, and spoke to Link.
"I've been keeping watch over you all this time." I said. "I've witnessed your struggles to return to us, as well as your trials in battle."
He began to walk towards me, but I still faced away from him. I was afraid. Afraid that when I looked into his eyes, I would see no recollection. I would just see a boy.
"I always thought," I continued. "No, I always believed, that you would find a way to defeat Ganon."
I turned around, deciding I couldn't wait any longer. I kept my eyes down, though.
"I never lost faith in you over these many years. Thank you, Link. The hero of Hyrule."
I looked him dead in the eyes as I asked the question I waited a hundred years to ask.
"May I ask, do you really remember me?"
My heart was beating so fast, I thought it was going to jump out of my chest.
He ran over to me, and tucked my hair behind my ear, exposing my gray strand.
"How could I forget my soulmate?" He asked.
I smiled. I tackled him, and he fell on the ground. With my arms wrapped around his neck, I placed a firm kiss on his lips.
I had expected him to be surprised, but he immediately started kissing me back.
I pulled away after a little bit, and looked into his eyes.
I was scared to say what I was about to say. But I needed to get it out. I couldn't hold it in any longer.
"I love you, Link."
He looked shocked at this one. His blue eyes sparkles and his eyebrows raised.
"I love you too, Zelda."
I've never been so happy in my life. I tucked some hair behind his ear so that I could see his gray strand.
I looked into his eyes and kissed him again.
The hundred year wait was so worth it. I thought.
18 Years Later
...
"Urbosa Link! You get right back here and apologize to your brother!" I shouted at my daughter, with blonde hair and blue eyes like Link's.
"Yeah Urbosa, you come apologize to me!" Shouted my son, Daruk, the one with blonde hair and green eyes like mine.
"You're in trouble too, Daruk." I said sternly.
The boy let out a sigh.
Their full names are Urbosa Mipha Link, and Daruk Revali Link. And in my stomach is Rhoam Bosphoramus Link. After Rhoam I want an Purah Impa Link, and then that's enough.
The godmother of Urbosa is Riju, the godfather of Daruk is Yunobo, the godfather of Rhoam is going to be Robbie, and the godfather of (hopefully) Purah would be Symin, Pikango, Cado, or Sidon.
Link came in after Urbosa apologized to Daruk.
He gave me a small peck on the lips before greeting the children.
I loved him so much, and he was great with the kids. We both looked like we were 35, because the hundred years we were apart didn't make us age.
The children ran away to play, and he walked up to me.
"Hello, beautiful." He said, kissing me again. "How's little Rhoam?"
"He's doing good. Just one more month and then he'll be out."
He put his hand on my stomach and whispered in my ear seductively. "Do we still want to try for a Purah?"
"Definitely." I replied, grinning.
We were knocked out of our moment by a crash in the other room.
We both sighed, and then laughed.
"I'll get it." He said.
"Thanks."
I love him. And I love our kids. I can't wait to grow old together.
And see even more gray hairs.

Guys, I wrote angst, and it wasn’t even OoT Zelink. But it was TP Zelink, and it killed me because I love TP Zelink so much!!!
When Link first saw her, he was a wolf. Colors were distorted by his strange eyesight and the ever present twilight, but he could see her beauty, her strength, and her sadness. He could already see that she felt responsible for everything that happened, even him being turned into a wolf. In that moment, Link felt determination to help Princess Zelda flood over him, and he never looked back.
When Link next saw her, he was still a wolf. But Midna was dying, there was no time to do anything but plead for the Princess’ help with his eyes. And the Princess sacrificed herself for Midna, giving over part of her life force so Midna would live. Such a selfless act moved Link’s soul. Princess Zelda literally trusted them with her life to save her kingdom, and Link would not rest until he did.
The next time Link saw her, she was possessed, moving on puppet strings controlled by the evil Ganondorf. He hated to fight her, but he had to remind himself that Princess Zelda wasn’t really there.
After a savage fight with a beastly Ganon, Link saw her again, for the first time in his human form. They were standing in Hyrule Field, Midna wasn’t with them, and Ganondorf was tearing after them on a dark horse. She pulled them into an in-between space, where the sages blessed them with light arrows. Then before Link’s unbelieving eyes, Princess Zelda bowed to him, asking him to help save her kingdom again. Link could only smile and hold his hand out.
They returned to Hyrule Field astride Epona and ready to fight Ganondorf. Princess Zelda’s accuracy with the bow was impeccable, and that’s when Link knew he was in love. It was truly her presence during the final battle with Ganondorf that gave him the courage to win.
They escorted Midna back to the Mirror of Twilight together. Link couldn’t believe Midna shattered the Mirror; he would never see his best friend again. Their trip back to Castletown was quite until it came time for them to part.
“What will you do now, Hero?” the Princess asked him.
I want to stay with you, he thought, but he couldn’t say it.
“I must escort the children of my village back to their home,” he answered instead. “After that, I do not know.”
“Should you need of it, there will always be a place for you in my guard,” she smiled demurely. “All that I ask is that you return the Master Sword to its pedestal, so that it can await the next time it is needed.”
“Of course, Your Highness,” Link nodded.
He didn’t see her again for many months. He was invited to the castle to discuss his reward for saving the kingdom. He was nervous, but he wanted to see the Princess again.
“I wish to reward you for your deeds,” she began once they met in her office. “Without you, Hyrule would be stuck in twilight forever.”
She began to list the things he could have. A title, land, money, a position at the castle or rank in the army. But Link refused it all. The only thing he wanted that she offered was a knighthood.
“Then we shall schedule the ceremony,” the Princess smiled. “I think we can pull it together in a month.”
“That long?” Link asked shocked.
“Well it has been some time since the Royal Family has appointed a knight to the Order of the Triforce. It is the most prestigious order of knights in the country, and there are no members alive in this day, I’m afraid. But I will have you in no other order considering you are a Chosen One.”
“Chosen One?”
“I could tell you bear a piece of the Triforce since I first met you. You deserve this, Link, believe me.”
“I am humbled by your generosity, Your Highness.”
Link stayed in the castle until his knighting ceremony. He didn’t see much of the Princess during that time, but they did occasionally have meals together. Link looked forward to their time together far too much than was proper, but he didn’t care. The feelings he had for her hadn’t faded since the end of the war, though he didn’t know what to do with them. How did one approach their future Queen and confess their love?
The whole of Ordon Village came to see Link be knighted. They were dressed in their finest, and Link couldn’t be happier to see them there. After the magic words were said and Link was tapped on each shoulder with the ceremonial sword, they were hustled off to the ballroom for dinner and a dance. Link sat in a place of honor next to the Princess at the high table. They talked as they usually did with Link listening more than speaking and Princess Zelda smiling more and more.
“Traditionally, you and I would open up the first dance together,” she explained as their dinner plates were replaced with dessert plates. “But I thought you would rather dance with the beautiful young lady from your home. I’m sure you’ve missed each other a great deal.”
Link swallowed, “Well, yes, as much as any brother would miss their practically adopted sister who loved his horse more than him.”
The Princess’ eyes widened, and she brought a hand to her mouth to quickly stifle her laughter, “I apologize. I just thought with the way she looked at you-”
“It’s alright,” Link shook his head though he couldn’t wipe the grin off his face. “She does have a crush on me, but there are few people our age in the village, and I’m the only one with a horse.”
The Princess laughed again, “Perhaps I should introduce her to some of the men here. If anything she will broaden her horizons, and it will keep their attention off me.”
“You have suitors here?”
“Yes,” she rolled her eyes. “They never leave me alone, but I sadly have no choice in the matter.”
“Are they really that annoying?” Link laughed.
“Yes, they truly are,” she sighed. “They are all just vapid and vain boys who know nothing of the world. At least three of them have tried to tell me how the invasion could have been handled better.”
“Well, if they could have done it better, why weren’t they out in Hyrule helping me?” he raised an eyebrow to try and appear serious despite his laughter.
“I know,” the Princess laughed along. “They are simply horrid.”
“What if you had a suitor that wasn’t as annoying or stupid?”
Princess Zelda’s laughter fell and a frown covered her face, “I don’t think that is possible, no matter how much I would want it to.” Her eyes turned to the half-finished dessert in front of her. “My counselors would not approve. Even if he was newly titled, they would argue he was not born of noble blood.” She refused to look him in the eye. “I’m sorry, Link,” she whispered.
“Let us speak no more of it,” he said, a sad smile crossing his face. “We still have a dance to open. We should enjoy our time together while we can.”
“You’re right,” she said raising her eyes to his. There was a strong determination behind her amethyst eyes. She placed her napkin on her table and stood. Everyone in the ballroom followed suit.
“I do believe it is time to dance,” the Princess smiled at the crowd. “If you would all join me on the dancefloor, we’ll get this party well and truly started.”
Everyone clapped, and Link savored the feeling of Princess Zelda on his arm as he escorted her to the dancefloor. The Princess kept him on the dancefloor for over an hour; she refused to dance with anyone else that evening. In the end she retired early, taking Link with her so they could say goodbye.
“As a knight, you will receive invitations to every major royal function for the rest of your life,” she said. “I would hope that you could come to my coronation, but I understand if you wish to stay away from court life.”
“I don’t know,” Link said. “Is court life as horrible as you make it out?”
“Oh, no, not really,” she smiled. “They are on their best behavior at most balls.”
“Then I will try and make a point to attend. It would be expected of the Hero of Twilight anyway.”
“Indeed it would,” she sighed again as they reached the door that led to the residential wing of the castle.
“I’m afraid this is where we must part,” Princess Zelda turned to face him. “I have enjoyed this time with you, Link, and I hope that we can remain good friends.”
“Of course, Your Highness,” Link bowed.
The door closed behind her, and Link turned to walk away, hoping he could somehow close the door in his heart.

Silent Prince
Thanks to @punishandenslavesuckers , I turned the original story way around, and she may or may not have massive spoilers
I trust you Rae, don't screw this up for me.
And thanks to the lovely @Roseindefinitely (who just recently made her account so I could properly credit her) I was able to edit and make this story much more enjoyable
Also credit to Rae for the lovely title, it's quite clever.
If, I can find somebody patient enough to deal with my crap, and generous enough to do it for free, I'd love to make a comic out if this. Hit me up with some examples if your interested.
If you wanna do fanart, by all means, though I doubt this will be popular off the get go.
If you like this shit, reblog, that'd be awesome.
_______
Princes without parents are normally Kings, but something's missing, and he just won't give up trying.
The boy walked the road alone, his gaze unmoving from the path far ahead of him, this wasn't his first time down this road.
It won't be his last.
He looked disheveled, hurt, even. If it wasn't for the fact that he hadn’t a trace of weapons or armor, or even a travel pack, he could have been a traveler.
The path was a long one, He had to take the longer route for a safe spot, but he wasn't strong enough to carry a pack anyways. The stable workers were quite familiar of him, ushering him in for a spot to rest. They had more haste with him than their usual customers, a sense of urgency. The boy appreciated it, however, he was just doing what he had to. The next morning, he went to harvest ingredients for breakfast.
While he cooked, he listened to the chatter of the other people crowded around the stables only cooking pot.
“I heard there another plague rising, started in Lurein this time” one man gossiped.
It sent shivers down the boy’s spine.
“That's far enough off, a few days ride from here, if your horse is fast, maybe it won't hit us this time.” A woman with a broom remarked, the boy was losing his appetite. He hurried to finish his food before the conversation became too graphic.
The boy thought of speaking, but the words caught in his throat, like they did not wish to leave. Instead he cleaned up and left, if he hurried, he would be there before nightfall, that would be nice.
He occupied his mind with thoughts of food and hot springs, sleeping for a decent while, and escapes in the quiet forest, where nothing but the wildlife kept him company, it brought him a slight smile. He waved to the traveling horsemen, bargained with merchants, and exchanged greetings with walking travelers, as far as they knew, everything was okay.
Enjoying snacks he had previously purchased from a kind merchant, he watched as the forest came into view. Eventually he found himself enveloped in the familiar eerie fog.
The crushing feeling in his chest dissipated when he emerged in the safe grove of the forest, his first thought was rest. He followed that thought all the way to the hollow under the deku tree, where he promptly fell onto his stomach, fast asleep.
The Koroks woke him up far earlier then he would have enjoyed, but his work still wasn't done.
As the Great Tree watched, he approached the pedestal, the Sword that Seals the Darkness, his destiny, gleamed with an eerie light. He was horrified, if he failed, his kingdom would too. He wondered if the court really had faith in him,  if they just said  what they said to make him feel like he wasn't worthless. Shaking his head in an attempt to clear his thoughts, he took hold of the blade. Pain immediately shot like lightning, rocking his body, and making him tremble slightly, reopening scarred wounds, and tearing new ones. It pulsed, like a heartbeat, every wave stronger than the last. He clenched his teeth so hard that his ears rang, his knuckles turning white with his grasp, until he couldn't anymore. His legs gave out with his weight and he fell, there he lay, a hopeless, tired, screaming, sobbing heap, rocking himself to distract from the pain of his torn skin, staring at his singed, hot hands.
She was saddling up her horse when she heard the other guards shout, turning her head, She turned in time to see him fall. Panic rose and rested in her chest.
“Jesus Christ! Is he okay?” The horse reared with the suddenness of the dropped gear. The woman ran to his side, and gently lifted the collapsed boys head. “Call for the medic, he pushed himself too far….”
One of them did as told, hurrying off deeper into the large building, his footsteps echoing and fading as he disappeared into the depths of the hall. The blonde looked at the boy, who was presently trying to stand up, he proved too weak to do so.
“oh hell no,” she forced him back into a sitting position “You aren't going anywhere on your own,” the boy opened his mouth to interject, but shut it shortly after, the woman picked him up with slight difficulty, gave the remaining guards a sharp look, and walked down the hall, the guards looked at each other in sheer terror, you don't argue with that woman, they promptly resumed work.
Zelda watched Link lay on his bed, on his side, facing away from her, to be precise. They could never get the damn boy to lay on his back, she never knew why.
“You can't be mad at me forever, Prince,” she said mockingly. “We were destined by the gods to fight the calamity together, so you have to get over it sooner or later.”
Link looked over his shoulder at her , it took him a second, but he spoke, his speech sounded forced, like he had to fight to get the words out, it startled Zelda, she never heard him say anything more than soft mumbles or grunts in approval “Im, Im not…. Mad…..”
Zelda didn't know if it was him finally manning up to speak, or the words he said, but it really pissed her off. Too frustrated to deal with him, she left his room and started down the stairs, once far enough, she vented aloud. “The nerve! To be so silent for so long, and the only thing he could muster to say was that he wasn't mad? Not a, ‘Sorry Zelda, I ran off, and almost died without telling anyone-’”
“I didn't know you were so concerned, Captain.”
Zelda nearly tripped down the stairs, the voice was so unexpected, “Q-Queen Mipha! I-I am so sorry your highness,” she spun and took a knee, right there, in the middle of the staircase, what an idiot, the queens giggling confirmed that.
“Link’s, fragile, fragile of body and heart…. He’s always been that way, even as a child. After my father retired, I was sad I couldn't be there for him, I had to see him when I heard that he collapsed just outside the castle…. I'm glad he is at least awake…”
Zelda blinked and rose, of course! “I nearly forgotten you two were close childhood friends,” she turned away slightly, pulling at her wrist guard “Yes, he seems fine, surprisingly…”
That earned a nod from the abnormally short Zora royalty “Though fragile, his spirit is determined, he once almost drowned in Lake totori, he had been sword training by himself by the edge, and somehow he accidentally flung the sword into the lake……” she motioned Zelda to follow her down the stairs, she did so.
“His reasoning was because it was his fathers, I remember how shocked Sidon was when he saw him drenched….. Link takes every mistake personally…… I suppose, it is both a blessing, and a curse…”
Zelda blinked, “Pardon me, Que-”
“Mipha is fine, Queen Mipha is too long…”
“Mipha, of course, do you think, Link takes the master sword, as a personal failure? Is that why he is so stubborn about it?”
Mipha nodded slightly “That is very well part of it, that sword, is forever bound to his blood, he needs that sword to return peace to  our kingdom, the court is encouraging him, telling him he must, when he can barely muster the strength to touch it…..” she shook her head “It's horrible, so many people are unknowingly pressuring him, to be honest, I don't know what happens when he tries to pull the sword, but seeing his injuries, I'm frankly against the thought, it's absolutely insane, there must be some other way of doing this…..”
Zelda nodded, although she really wasn't quite sure, no other person with the triforce of courage ever defeated ganon without the sword, maybe they never tried? Or maybe there was no other way?
“Its best I be headed back home, my kingdom awaits, so long, Captain.”
Zelda nodded, and bowed slightly “Farewell, and safe travels, give the Kingdom the Prince’s hellos, I am sure they will appreciate it.”
She smiles in response “I will. Say hello to the other Chiefs’ if they happen to visit.”
And with that, the small Zora queen leaves, and Zelda is left alone to her questions.
The Prince had questions of his own.
End Chapter one.
____________
Warning, Salt:
This chapter takes place over a few days, in case you are confused. There was so much going on, and not specifying the total time between segments made it seem more chaotic, and crazy.
Yes, I know that there was King Dorephan, and that Mipha was his daughter, no, Sidon is not her son in this AU, they are definitely siblings. I simply wanted a way for Mipha to not die. Cause I love Mipha.
Zelda is referred as Captain by Mipha, because she is a Captain, of the royal guard, as in, she is a knight, yes, Link’s night.
Link is called Prince, because, youuuuuu (hopefully) guessed it, he's a prince! Hence. The. Damn. Title.
____________
Feel free to ask questions about this if you have any. I'll be glad to answer.
Currently, I have no set schedule for this, I haven't even begun Chapter two, but yeah.

This has been done many times, but I have a few ideas for a Legend of Zelda AU where Link and Zelda’s places swap. I don’t know how repetitive these ideas are, but I’m hoping that I have added at least a new point to the AU:
-As I already said, Link and Zelda swap places. Link, rather than being a commoner, is the Prince of Hyrule (the first Hyrule has had in a very long time), while Zelda has the boy’s previous position.
-But their designated triforces do not switch. Zelda still possesses the Triforce of Wisdom, which makes her the bookworm of the kingdom (but just like Belle, she is shunned and humiliated for this). Link still has the Triforce of Courage, which makes him a great war leader, but a terrible person because his triforce gives him a serious ego boost.
-Ganon is still the enemy (but I have an AU where he is NOT so keep an eye out for that too if you’re interested)
-One night Zelda has a a terrible dream/vision of Hyrule burning to the ground, with it’s people dead and a mysterious figure being the cause of it all. At first she shrugs it off because her father tells her that it’s just the books getting to her head. But these signs pop up (idk what they are yet so please bear with me) that convince her that her dreams are somehow prophecy. So she runs over to the castle as fast as she can to warn the prince.
-She gets to the castle, but is refused entry. She’s trying to tell the guards of the importance of her message and of her dreams, but they make fun of her and push her to the ground, calling her crazy and such. She’s still determined despite this, and requests one last time to see the prince.
-And right when she says this, out comes Prince Link on his steed, about to head off to attend to his royal duties. He questions what is going on and for a moment, he seems like a nice guy. But when Zelda tells him of her dreams and what they could potentially mean, he too pardons her as crazy, and only speaks of his many achievements and how they could not possibly add up to Hyrule’s demise. Zelda is a bit discourages, but warns him one last time. In response, Link requests that she leave, and the guards force her back to the streets.
-Zelda goes back home, submitting to the humiliation others casted upon her. Her father tries to comfort her, but doesn’t seem to help when he too thinks that her attempts were slightly foolish. In the end, her father recommends they go to the kingdom’s Festival of Peace (a day that celebrates how many years Hyrule has been safe), and somehow he’s able to convince the saddened Zelda to go.
-This year’s festival marks 100 years of peace in Hyrule. ((NOTE: This does not mean that for 100 years, Hyrule has never engaged in battles or war. It simply means that Hyrule has not once been overthrown by a foe, and that the wars they have been in so far have always ensured the safety of Hyrule))
-Everything is fine and dandy at the festival, and for some time, Zelda forgets about her worries and has fun. She does scowl and whisper rude things when she sees Link at the festival, who gives a speech about how his father’s legacy still carries on despite his tragic death (I like to think that his father died in war when Link was only 15, forcing the boy to take up the crown early and mature fast). ((NOTE: I’d also like to randomly point out that both Link and Zelda are 23 in this AU))
-Near the end of Link’s speech, quiet yells and banging are heard outside of the kingdom’s gates. Everyone in the kingdom quiets as Link’s own voice begins to die out, and after a few moments of waiting, in barges a hooded man, walking slowly and calmly despite the sudden tension in the air. Link can’t tell who it is, but he does catch a glance of dead soldiers who lay limp at the kingdom gates.
-Everyone in the kingdom makes way for this man, not because he’s super important, but because they’re very scared of him and do not want to be hurt. All of this makes a clear pathway towards Link, who stands tall and bravely.
-Zelda holds on to her father tightly, and feels as if she recognizes this scene somewhere. He has a bad feeling of what’s about to happen next.
-Link demands to know who the mysterious man is.
-Mysterious man only announces himself as a traveller looking for a new home.
-Link denies the man’s excuse.
-Zelda looks closer at the man and analyzes every detail of him. She notices that he bears the crest of the Gerudo on his cloak, and Zelda immediately recognizes it. It was on a flag in her dream, a flag that stood menacingly over the many bodies of Hyrule.
-Zelda lets go of her father and tries to get to the prince. Now more than ever does she need to tell her dreams to him.
-As the man inches closer to Link, the prince unsheathes his sword and points it towards the taller figure. He requests the he leaves if he wants to live.
-Mysterious man laughs.
-Link tells him to leave once more. This time it is not a request, nor does his voice carry that calm composure it had once before.
-Mysterious man mocks Link’s efforts, and tries to get the prince to lose his cool by saying things like “How terribly sad your father died only to have a fake brat like you rule as a leader” and “But then again, both of you were terrible leaders, so it’s only natural this trait would pass on to you”. ((idk I don’t have dialogue set at this point))
-And eventually, this man’s efforts get to Link, right when Zelda was just so close to him. He charges to the man with a ferocious battle yell–
- only to be immediately grabbed by the neck, and lifted off the ground. Link is shocked, and struggles to be released by the tightening grip, but he’s too vulnerable at this point.
-MYSTERIOUS MAN EVENTUALLY REVEALS THAT HE IS GANON AND HAS INTENTIONS OF WATCHING HYRULE SUFFER AS THEY DID TO THE GERUDO RACE.
-He casts Link away like a rag doll, and begins destruction.
-People scream and flee. All but Zelda, who only stands in fear as she watches her biggest fear come true.
-Ganon notices her, and attempts to kill her by blasting her with his dark powers, but she is ultimately saved by Link, who manages to tackle her out of the way, but takes most of the force from his attack.
-So Zelda decides that despite what happened earlier in that day, she needs to save him because she genuinely believes that he could help her prevent the rest of her visions from coming true. She steals a horse, and takes him far, far away to tend to his wounds.
-And so basically we now get both Link and Zelda who are not on good terms with each other (Link is outraged that she took him away from battle), but are forced to use each others talents for the greater good.
__
I will post more about this because I have a ton of ideas for how this could go. If you guys want to add your own ideas, go ahead! Because I know my ideas for this AU aren’t perfect because I literally thought of this today while I was eating breakfast.

I am totally interested in the garla link. Is it a role reversal? The Altean Hyland hired him? What are your thoughts, Clockie?
dustycallie said:well, count me interested: why does it make sense for you in this reimagining for link to be a galra?
orangeairplane said:Hello! Yes! I’m interested about why Link would be Galra~!
basicallyjazzhands said:I have literally no idea where you’re going with this but I am 100% down
All righty then, four asks and a couple of replies later, let’s get into this shindig:
So basically, the logical thing to do crossing over Voltron with Zelda is, one has the much more expansive worldbuilding (Voltron) of which Hyrule could easily be a planet- so tweaking Zeldaverse to fit cohesively with Voltron’s larger universe.
I’ve been skeptical for a while that two species that were allies for as long as the Galra and Alteans were purported to be could neatly split along species lines on what seems to be very short notice, and Haggar just kind of cemented that suspicion.
I specifically wanted to make Link a galra and ally of the Alteans because thematically, in many of the games, Link is not from Hyrule even though he becomes its hero. He’s presented as an outsider of humble or strange origins and often one who bridges unrelated realms.
It also makes sense because he’s often thematically tied to wind, and the guardian spirit of Sky, the Black Lion, is tied to the former home planet of the galra. Furthermore, Link often utilizes the power of his enemies directed against him (ALBW, Twilight Princess) and an easy way to represent that is if he has galra genetics to mess with the biometric locks.
As a backstory, it also highlights some of Link’s main character traits: his fierce loyalty and his determination to do what seems to be the right thing. So in this AU, during the fall of Altea, Link took the Alteans’ side and tried to hold a defensive line against the invading forces. Kinda got wrecked in the process, had to get put in a healing pod and fitted with cybernetics (notice his left hand)
My idea here is in this AU that Altea’s solar system was actually a series of kingdoms united under the main Altean crown. These other planets had castles of their own, though none as grand as the Castle of Lions, and their own royal families. One of those castles managed to escape, and make a wormhole jump thanks to Zelda, who kinda had to take over in a hurry because her parents died during the fall.
So Zelda in this is basically Romelle, and would be dark-skinned to bring her closer to Allura. The triforce is basically just a symbol in this setting- it’s the crest of what becomes the Hyrulean royal family.
They end up landing on Hyrule. Hyrule is kind of a refuge planet, playing host to several other species of destroyed planets- the Zora, Rito, and Gorons. Notice I didn’t mention the Gerudo, because the gerudo are also Alteans in this setting.
So they arrive on Hyrule, and start settling in, and putting poor Link back together again, and there begins to be… conflict. Ganon, in this setting, is an advisor of Zelda’s family and has held the position for Quite A While. He’s also a fairly impressive inventor and technician- in the interest of differentiation I’m dialing back a little on the magic for him, especially because he’s kind of an underdog compared to Zarkon- and, well, the main thing that makes Ganon an antagonist in classic Zelda lore is the guy can hold a grudge for centuries, so in this situation he’s not nearly as focused on Link and Zelda because Zarkon managed to royally tick him off first.
But basically, Ganon wants to militarize, ASAP, and he doesn’t have a lot of confidence in Zelda who is like sixteen and a little messed up because everything she knew and most of her people just died, and one of her closest friends is in critical condition from trying to save her. This crossover is based (loosely) on BotW so you can guess where this is going.
With official sanction and public support, Ganon develops a bunch of machines to buff up the nearly destroyed Hylian army, among them the Guardians and the Divine Beasts, the latter as an attempt at recapturing the lost image of Voltron. There are only four DBs, because nobody really wants to make a new Black Lion immediately after Zarkon happened. He also, privately, starts experimenting more with cybernetic augmentation and develops his personal opus- the Malice, a self-replicating nanomachine construct that can be controlled by a cranial implant and has the ability to overtake other technology and make it work for him.
At the same time, again, he doesn’t have a lot of faith in Zelda, and is pretty sure if Hyrule is going to survive when Zarkon comes back to finish what he started, they need a more experienced leader. (You can guess where this is going…)
Zelda, smelling a rat, has Link’s pod quietly relocated out of the castle, somewhere it can finish the recovery process and sustain him. Which, turns out that it’s a good thing that she did. There’s a confrontation, Ganon uses the Malice to try and overtake the Castle’s systems. Zelda chooses to seal herself in a cryopod, while manipulating a system similar to the one Alfor used to create his AI to basically install herself in the castle in such a way that she’s able to maintain and hold the barrier, so Ganon is also stuck.
Cue ten thousand years, during which Ganon heavily overhauls himself with his cybernetics research to stay fresh, Zelda is a digital ghost, and nobody wakes up poor Link when they really should have. During which time the pilots of the Divine Beasts and their successors lead, do what they can to keep people safe and fend off the occasionally feral machinery roving the countryside.
Link finally gets jogged loose, with a pretty shaky sense of memory because he wasn’t supposed to be in there that long, but, he has a friendly AI and a really cool adaptable sword/bow thing housing said AI, so he has at least some idea what’s going on.
There’s more afoot and obviously Team Voltron gets involved at some point, but I feel like this is enough for one post.
