I was a little bit like an early philosopher as a small child. I had a lot of ideas and pondered them extensively, but I did not have access to a lot of modern information because I went to preschool and mostly learned things like “what animals live in the desert” and “what does a quarter look like” and “please don’t wipe your nose on the wallpaper.”
#I could only read three words#I had a loose grasp of my own last name#my mom explained that my dad was catholic and she was methodist#and I conceived of Catholicism as an illustration of the cow jumping over the moon from the nursery rhyme#because I thought my mom was saying COWtholic#and Methodism was consequently represented by an illustration of the gingerbread man#based on what I can only say was vibes#I was afraid of New York because it was called the Empire State#and I thought an empire was like a vampire or umpire#and I was scared of both#(umpires wear intimidating masks)#I thought the Statue of Liberty was a crested monster woman which didn’t help

This Time
Watch as the roof above me catches fire As they spark off, constantly calling me a liar Saying I should go on and retire before I expire But I sire the beat until it grows old and tired Those that lose often choosing not to admire Use to this environment; escaping from the mire Through this pain, I obtain what I desire So be a fool and give me more fuel for my pyre Back in the day I was DRAC, but not a vampire Use to be paid by the call like an umpire Aiming for the skies and steady rising higher Correctly erecting the New Roman empire I'm a beast, not a bird; that's a fighter not flyer Holding ground; don't back down when things get dire Keep a tight grip on my game like a pair of pliers Bump your lips, if you want to see me lose my ire because This mind's designed to see the signs That this time is mine and I will shine This mind's designed to see the signs That this time is mine and I will shine Been grinding so long, I've engraved the Earth Enough heat and friction to ignite bare hearths Gifted and cursed since the day of birth Well versed in adversity, earning my worth Speak to me with respect, I am no wet nurse Keep yourself in check or see the back of a hearse This cheeky tongue is terse, toward those curs Who act like jerks; to who showing respect never occurs Forget slurs; leave dissing for amateurs Passing on pieces of me as I traverse A verse that crosses the linguistics universe My light speeds until vision blurs Seeing mass get faster, until energy spurs Self through time; hoping past wisdom transfers Reaching through teachings about when it's okay to burst And that sometimes the way ahead is in reverse 'cause This mind's designed to see the signs That this time is mine and I will shine This mind's designed to see the signs That this time is mine and I will shine Not one for obligation; it only breeds bitter resentment And through exasperation, you can find true fulfillment As for expectation; don't let your strong will be spent On another's station. Make it about your milled mint Forget what hesitation is and feeling concealment Don't bother with examination of what another's will meant Government bastardizations are brazen; where have the real went? Biased media information, wanting to completely steal sense Still tense. Contemplation on why blood is spilled on cement By occupations that are supposed to protect from ill torments Forming reservations. Thoughts more rapid than killer torrents When our final destination is determined by willful abhorrence And their explanations could easily be billed as ignorance Steady evacuation of knowledge from college; frills absorbent More pills for gratification because we realize our core's bent While our situation grows rotten; lows enjoyed to ignore scent but This mind's designed to see the signs That this time is mine and I will shine This mind's designed to see the signs That this time is mine and I will shine
