Man… it really takes the wind out of my sails when I try a new FVN and I just don’t like it. Like. I only download stuff that looks promising, and I’d been keeping an eye on this one prior to release for a while, so I was so sure I would like this one, too. And the art’s great! I already knew that! The menus are good and there’s solid QoL stuff built in… but the actual writing just felt sooooo clumsy it completely put me off. Just aggressively mood-dampening
#not to mention the downright hostile level of vocab…#I decided to stop reading the glossary entries bc half of them were just towns I didn’t need to know about. it didn’t help#the other half were nonsense names for hyper specific species that absolutely could have been made more simple to grok#and I KNOW the author knew it was gonna be tricky for some to parse bc everything had pronunciation guides (not bad but telling)#like. c’mon man. you made your fantasy words so unintuitive you lampshaded how there’s silent vowels. that doesn’t fix the issue#the production value is so clearly sky-high! I wanted to love it!#but no. the game’s writing was so violently repellent that I noped out maybe a couple hundred words deep#at least I have funny mtg ttrpg actual-play to watch tonight. that’s soothing the loss#edit: scratch that my wifi is busted. guess I’m watching the vod later. fml
