Friendly reminder that Hephaestus is never actually referred to as ugly (by modern standards) in ancient sources and the closest we got is with Hephaestus himself saying that Ares is more handsome than him bc he isn’t disabled. Besides that, the ancient Greeks thought of disability in of itself being ugly. Also Hera didn’t throw him off Olympus for not being a cute baby, she threw him for being disabled, which is still messed up but not the same thing.
