#and Also paladin aziraphale fits the flaming sword and it would be poetic to see his oath break when he decides to stop the apocalypse

i've been trying to figure out how everyone in good omens would translate as a dungeons & dragons character and so far i've got:
heaven vs hell = fey vs infernal. 'but why wouldn't heaven be celestials?' you ask. excellent question. that's for aziraphale and crowley to question, and no one in heaven to know for certain.
heaven, of course, assumes they Are celestials, because they've never met an actual celestial in person and have no reason to think otherwise, and if you so much as think that they might not be you're getting smited/smitten/smote, buckaroo.
adam young is a tiefling but his parents assume he just takes after someone way back on his dad's side.
the Them are a fighter (pepper), a wizard (wensleydale), and an artificer (brian). they are all still kids.
one of crowley & aziraphale is an oathbreaker paladin and the other one is a twilight cleric. so far i Think it's book aziraphale = cleric / tv aziraphale = oathbreaker, and book crowley = oathbreaker / tv crowley = cleric, but it could be the other way around. or they're both multi-classed. i have to think more about that before i decide.
#my argument for cleric aziraphale is: it would be Extremely funny if he's the odd angel out bc he's the only one Actually worshipping god#& one of the descriptions of twilight clerics says 'gods of twilight guard against the horrors of the night' which feels very angel of him#and my argument for oathbreaker crowley is that it would account for his profound sense of loneliness to have broken that oath#and ditching your oath feels a lot more like quitting a job than say. forsaking a god as a cleric#but Also cleric crowley is poetic if he's the odd man out in hell because he still loves god#& twilight clerics ensure that 'the darkness is a comfort not a terror' which feels like crowley shielding humanity from hell#and Also paladin aziraphale fits the flaming sword and it would be poetic to see his oath break when he decides to stop the apocalypse#i'm very devoted to paladin aziraphale as a concept bc i like to remember that he is a warrior. he just doesn't Want to be#anyway i love trying to transpose characters into their dnd versions it's always Such a challenge#i've done it with sherlock holmes. john constantine. and the triumvirate from star trek: tos so far and it's been immense fun#good omens#aziraphale#crowley#oxly hollers
