#my post#I’ve really only put a countable amount of learning into 3 languages#But they don’t seem to have a whole lot of overlap in what words I can remember#I’m finally coming to terms with the idea of enjoying my familiarity with multiple languages instead of stressing over my lack of any fluenc#Spanish was through formal education and I remember embarrassingly little#German was self taught as I learned to subtitle a musical about:#WWI#the Habsburgs#intense girl power in a very toxic way#true love that is never in the right place at the right time#horrible in-laws#a love affair with Death that spanned multiple generations#trauma#and -holy shit- it’s the best musical I’ve ever seen#but probably make for a bizarre vocabulary and possibly speaking pattern#and now Japanese entirely through Duolingo because that’s all I have energy for#and Спасибо to get past the language for the joke. I know like two words in Russian#though it bugs me that the most natural way to say “no” for me is Russian#i just like the flow of it#нет. nyet#language
