Clown mask. At least that’s what the lady at the costume shop suggested after Lou’s endless string of terrible dad jokes. Maybe something that cover the mouth and nose instead of the eyes; people would say it’s to keep him from talking, but truth is, nobody looks into his eyes enough to realize the unspoken words.

SOME MIGHT CONSIDER THEM LEADING A DOUBLE LIFE IF THEY KNEW ABOUT …

Regular store clerk half of the week and fake college student the other half. Lou enjoys sneaking into big lecture halls when he is bored. He’s taken sporadic of any and most majors. Does he understand a thing? Actually yes! Well... his brain does, but if you ask him to elaborate or replicate the sudden and brief spark of genius, he’s back to his simplistic self. Still, most information is apparently deleted once he exits the classroom.

On the other hand, there’s the fact of the hidden memories about his life as a hitman back in the day. A couple of jobs were done before he was decommissioned for proving to be “too kind and empathetic. Subject Tyche has demonstrated an impeding urge to assist any creature in distress instead of focusing to accomplish the mission assigned”. Still, he keeps files and even some... weapons very well hidden in the RV, so well hidden that he has forgotten he has them there.

Rumors say there is a handler trying to end him for a while now with no luck. I would be very frustrated if I was them.

WHAT WOULD BE THEIR OWN DEAL BREAKER IN A RELATIONSHIP ? WOULD THEY DIE FOR LOVE OR KILL FOR MONEY ?

Lou is someone who gives his all with everybody close to him. He has been only in a couple of relationships for a short time, but for him it’s the unnecessary call on his lack of wits or the lies ( unless you lie to throw the most badass surprise party for his birthday and you have been hiding a giant lobster plushie in the closet as present ). Lou is not one to get discouraged easily, but betray his trust and you’ll get a sad puppy.

Die for love? Tempting. He’s never been in love before, but depending on how the relationship works, he just might. If this person has spoiled him enough, then most likely yes.

Killing for money? Never. Money is important but not the most relevant thing. Hurting a living being in exchange of money is not a good deal.

He is hopping on one feet and then the other anxiously as he pushes the wrong buttons and accidentally calls the cemetery desk instead of a friend. “THIS IS AWFULLY ACCURATE, BUT PLEASE SEND THE POLICE”. Knowing his string of lucky events, the hash-slinging slasher would probably get hit by an upcoming bus before reaching the phone booth, or a police car would drive by in that exact moment.

II : THE ZEIGEIST OF THE ‘90S

The Cabin in the Woods. It’s the whole serious-parody-thing going on; but he could give you a whole list of favorites and essays on why.

Honestly, doing anything and everything. He will drag Pesor ( @b4rredteeth​ ) and even Suraj around into unexpected adventures and occasional local party. There’s never a dull day when spending it with Lou, but expect a series of odd events following you around and the sirens of an ambulance or the police approaching after someone gets hurt for whatever stupid reason.

Using animal ears or animal-inspired hoodies unironically. Lou actually has a pretty good eye for fashion and when you thrift almost anything and everything, it’s a good talent to have.

Very often. Look, it’s not cheap to cook and when the store is out of your fave mac & cheese brand, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. The pizzeria is a good place to go after a party, so has he seen something weird? Yeah! And he has jumped so high he scared the staff, but after shaking his head, nothing seems weird. Still, he proceeds to abstain himself from parties for weeks after things like those happen.

Nah, he didn’t need anyone to tell him that. Lou doesn’t remember anything about his childhood years and that terrifies him, but worry not, because he made sure to read about these horror monster alongside others from other cultures and he has scared himself every year. “The Krampus doesn’t exist, you dummy”, he would say that but after the events of the new year’s event, he’s sleeping with his duck plush toy close to his chest again.

WHAT TALL TALE OR SUPERSTITION WERE THEY TOLD AS A CHILD THAT STILL GIVES THEM THE HEEBIE JEEBIES ?

Nothing like the wonderful threat of being skinned alive if he dared to disobey the overseer and the orders given by the program.

Lou is a grown independent man that never gets scared.

III : THE CURSE OF THE SPIDER

ARE THERE FAMILY SECRETS OR SO-CALLED CURSES THAT HAUNT THEM ? ONES THAT ARE KNOWN PUBLICLY OR FOLLOW THEM FIGURATIVELY ?

The whole opposite! Lou has an immense amount of luck... otherwise he probably wouldn’t be here to tell his dumb stories to anybody willing ( or not willing ) to listen. Someone up above must be really fond of this useless ray of sunlight.

WHICH OF THE SEVEN SINS WOULD CORRUPT THEIR MORALS ?

Sloth. There’s a story about Lou missing a job because he slept in and received a very angry call from a handler. Some other time he ate so much that his stomach started to hurt so he took a little break and missed the flight back home. He had to get back by his own resources. Took him a couple of weeks.

THE WORLD REMAINS THE SAME FOR DECADES NOW. IS IGNORANCE BLISS ? OR IS THERE THE SHAKY SENSE SOMETHING IS AMISS THAT CAN’T BE IGNORED ?

Ignorance is bliss, indeed. There’s a voice at the back of his head murmuring that he should really pay more attention to his surroundings, Lou sometimes has this moments of clarity in which he realizes there’s just something; you could probably even catch a glimpse of grounding and maturity, but then, the clerk at the frozen yogurt store calls his name and the bird brain is back to the reins.

DREAMS ARE OFTEN INFLUENCED BY THE SUBCONSCIOUS & SOMETIMES DISTORTED. IN THEIR DEEPEST, DARKEST NIGHTMARES, HOW DO THEY VIEW THEMSELVES ?

Small, lost. A little ghost that nobody seems to be aware of. There’s a thick darkness around him and the silhouettes of people all look the same and nobody stops. There is a huge fear of being alone and ignored. People and friends around him give him strength so if you want to break him down, just isolate him.

IV : THE CROOKED FRAME

Surrounded by people that care about him, laughing, after cracking a joke, feeling real peace maybe for the first time in his life. If he has people that loved him, then he couldn’t have been that bad of a guy, right? And good people go to good places.

A family trip to Point Pleasant went wrong. A bridge collapsed and many people were hurt, some others died and a few others disappeared. Lou Jin was missing alongside a bunch of other people. The case is considered closed since it was assumed they were dragged to the bottom of the water or dragged by the current.

Never. He uses whatever is available, some spots at the local college seem to have better connection so he uses those moments to upload pics or google something. There is not much Annaki hides about her life; she is a very upfront person, possibly to a fault. Lying is a task that even if they attempted, they can be seen right through. It's possible that their childhood and the evils faced within it would make some people question if there was more to her, as it doesn't seem to match the way she interacts with the world as an adult.

WHAT WOULD BE THEIR OWN DEAL BREAKER IN A RELATIONSHIP? WOULD THEY DIE FOR LOVE OR KILL FOR MONEY?

When Annaki falls in love, they are all in, which makes it difficult to name a deal breaker, as it would probably be possible for someone to talk their way out of any. Annaki could never kill any being. There has often been times when she has to leave the room when an animal needs euthanasia because she can't handle the procedure. Considering the amount of romantic movies they watch, dying for love would be much more plausible.

Annaki doesn't order delivery too often. If she's already at home, she's more likely to make something herself, even if it is just a frozen meal. However, she does regularly go to Peppy's to pick up a slice after working if she's feeling it. She once thought she saw an animatronic move out of the corner of her eye when a show wasn't going on, but she just assumed she was seeing incorrectly.

Annaki tends to believe in any superstition she's told as she tends to be pretty gullible. One that has always creeped her out is if you knock an empty chair, it can bring an evil spirit into your body.

Ignorance is bliss. Her family is safe as far as she knows and she isn't going to go around poking questions when that's all she really needs in life.

That she doesn't stand up even when she knows injustices are happening. She's weak. When they were kids, she never tried to stop the things that were happening, that were hurting her siblings. If she did, would they have been harmed less? There will never be any way to know because she never did. She always runs and hides. And most of the time, she always runs to Atticus. But there's that feeling, that worry, that he doesn't feel that same protection from her because when did she ever display it when it came to their parents? In her worst nightmares, her siblings hold resentment over her for being weak, for not doing more.

Mio’s mask would definitely be something very bright and eye-catching. Pink and white with heart motifs. Maybe a generous helping of shimmer. I don’t think it’d be a full face mask. Maybe something just covering the eyes and the bridge of a nose, as though she’s a hero. A pink knight in shining armour.

I don’t think this one really applies to Mio! She’s a VERY honest person, arguably even to her own detriment. She wears her heart on her sleeve and tends to blabber so there’s really very little she’s able to keep secret. She does keep the more complex emotions to herself with most people but that hardly qualifies as a double life. The only thing I can really think of is that her parents and family don’t know that she’s a lesbian and, in some ways, jumping in and out of the closet like that makes her FEEL like she’s leading a double life but that’s about the extent of it. 

WHAT WOULD BE THEIR OWN DEAL BREAKER IN A RELATIONSHIP ? WOULD THEY DIE FOR LOVE OR KILL FOR MONEY ?

Cruelty. Nastiness. Being mean and unpleasant. And not just to her but to anyone. She would absolutely dump if they showed signs of being a bully or if they verbally assaulted a customer service or retail worker. If you yell at animals on the street, you’re OUT! Mio doesn’t need her partner to be outgoing or super friendly or whatever else but she does value kindness and respect above all other things.

There was a point, I’m sure, where she would have called Ziv. If she had enough change for TWO calls, she’d definitely still phone them! But, now that Rei is back in the picture, that’s who she would call first. Whether or not Rei would be able to help isn’t what matters; if Mio is only able to talk to one more person before she’s killed, she’d like to be her sister. And if Rei CAN help? Even better!

II : THE ZEIGEIST OF THE '90S

THEIR FAVORITE SLASHER FILM IS ( IF APPLICABLE ) …

Mio does not like slasher films. She’s iffy on horror in general, because she’s easily frightened, but she can handle the tamer options as a fun Let’s Deliberately Scare Ourselves activity. Slashers, however, are totally out. She just doesn’t get the appeal at all. Two or so hours of people suffering and dying horribly for no reason? Not Mio’s idea of entertainment!

Mio might be a professional dancer but she still spends quite a lot of her spare time dancing. She loves dance more than anything else in the world! If she’s having a quiet home day, she likes to read or watch TV while getting comfy on the couch with her cat, Cream. But she’s definitely not a homebody! Mio likes doing all sorts of things! Most common options are nights out with the girl gang or outings (mostly shopping, I guess) with Ziv. Maybe soon, she’ll start hanging around with Rei more too.

I mean, if any of Mio’s friends openly shared that they despised any of her fashion choices, that would be MEAN and I DON’T respect it >:( but anyway, I could see Mio being really into a few specific trends. Big, chunky platform shoes for one, especially trainers/sneakers, and she’d probably give those spiky updos a good go! To be honest, she often sports a high pony while she’s dancing anyway so the extra styling for an extra bit of flair wouldn’t be a big difference. Her taste in fashion generally leans towards street style and, since she was born and raised in Tokyo, her tastes probably borrow a lot from Japanese trends of the era. Also, she definitely has one of those bedazzled phones with way too many phone charms. I think that one actually leans a little more early 2000s than 90s but the timeline here is weird so I’m letting her have it!

She might order every now and then but not really all that often! Mio likes food in general but she prefers fresher, more varied food and I don’t think she could stomach eating takeout pizza too often. Mio can’t bake for shit but she’s worked hard to become a pretty decent home cook so she does try to make her own food as often as she can. Being able to cook her own food also means she can make Japanese dishes and keep from getting homesick. She does really like some of Peppy’s desserts though. She hasn’t visited the actual pizzeria that often either so she hasn’t seen anything weird herself but she’s heard stories from the kids at the daycare, not that she necessarily takes it all that seriously. They are kids, after all.

N/A. (My understanding is that, in Japan, Santa typically only brings children one gift and I’m not entirely sure if that has anything to do with their behaviour or morality; I don’t think Krampus is a thing either! Mio would probably think the whole idea of a naughty list was unnecessarily cruel anyway.)

WHAT TALL TALE OR SUPERSTITION WERE THEY TOLD AS A CHILD THAT STILL GIVES THEM THE HEEBIE JEEBIES ?

There are two urban myths in particular that always used to really freak Mio out; Akaikami, Aoikami and Teke Teke. For reference, Akaikami, Aoikami (Red Paper, Blue Paper) concerns a spirit, named usually Aka Manto (Red Cloak), who haunts school bathrooms and ask cryptic questions that results in your violent death (usually severe blood loss or asphyxiation, without going into details) no matter what you answer while Teke Teke is a ghost who lacks the lower half of its body and drags itself along by its elbows, the sound of this being its namesake. The most famous version of this concerns a young girl who lost her lower half after being run over by a train and now hunts down her victims in order to cut them in half too. Obviously, she no longer believes these stories like she briefly did in childhood but the exact details of them still make her shudder a little.

Not really! I think, maybe, her parents are usually a little hush-hush with others outside the home about Rei and maybe there was a weird atmosphere amongst the other parents of ballerinas at first but, ultimately, they probably don’t know very much about Rei’s life after leaving home so it’s not even really their secret to keep. At most, Mio was briefly haunted by the sudden expectations her parents placed on her in Rei’s absence but it has been a while since she lived with her parents so it doesn’t really bother her.   

WHICH OF THE SEVEN SINS WOULD CORRUPT THEIR MORALS ?

Mio is definitely the type to stand by what she believes in no matter what so this is a pretty tough question. I guess wrath is the only one that would push to abandon her morals; there could feasibly be a scenario where Mio was so wronged that she would be upset and angry enough to do something she’d regret in order to exact revenge on someone else’s behalf but she would REALLY have to be pushed to her breaking point. She’s not a naturally angry person. Greed is also a possibility as she can be pretty materialistic but, again, it’s not to the point that she would sacrifice her own belief system or cause anyone else active harm.

I will not lie to you, Mio can be pretty oblivious. She also likes to look on the bright side as much as possible. Most of her life, she hasn’t been suspicious of much and her typical approach to anything strange was to brush it off as ‘well, that’s just how things are’. However, ever since she received that letter at Valentine’s, she’s been a little more cautious. If nothing else, she definitely thinks there’s something a little strange about Anchorage. After all, how could a regular stranger know those things about her?

Mio prefers not to think about death too much because it’s a little depressing but she doesn’t really have any hangups about it either and has largely accepted that chances are that she won’t have much say in how she dies, at least not until the moment comes. If she was forced to pick a way to die, I think she’d like to go out helping somebody else. If her death helped somebody else or even saved their life, I think she’d be happy with that.

honestly, nothing. her identity as a clone fits perfectly into kwon ara’s life, simply due to the nature of the kwon family’s underground business. the original ara learned about weaponry and was taught martial arts at a young age, so it would make sense that she now is able to defend herself and hold her own when it comes to physical fights in the present time.

Mei hasn't changed her name, but the case of her doing missing isn't really know outside of her hometown. She would be shocked if anyone outside of those who regular true crime forums would have ever heard a mention of her case, much less all the way in Alaska. Still, the thought of one day being recognized, even if she barely looked like the same person, haunts her.

Especially if it had anything to do with her nephew as she would do anything for him.

Envy. It affected her a lot more when she was younger, seemingly envious of so many aspects of others' lives where her own lacked. Dorothy had made some improvement in handling these emotions, but there are times when they break through again.

I : THE LOVERS' MASK

A TALE CALLED THE MOON'S ANGUISH THAT HAS CIRCULATED ANCHORAGE FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DECADES HAS PROMPTED SOME YOUNG LOVERS TO EXCHANGE MASKS AS A PROMISE OF DEVOTION. WHAT DESIGN WOULD MUSE THEORETICALLY THINK FITS THEM ( LOOK BACK TO REVENGE OF KRAMPUS FOR REFERENCE, #ANCHORTASK01 ON OUR SERVER ) ?

A wooden mask, painted a silvery white with sea-blue designs, colours of the moon and sea foam. It would be a full face mask with no discernible features and an expression carved into it, just holes for his eyes. It’s almost ghostlike.

SOME MIGHT CONSIDER THEM LEADING A DOUBLE LIFE IF THEY KNEW ABOUT …

I would say the whole miroir thing but there are two problems with that. First, Karam has not taken the place of his ‘original’ self in the traditional sense so it’s not likely he’s really lying to anybody about who he is. Lying by omission isn’t quite the same as pretending to be somebody else. Secondly, Karam is so private and so unwilling to open up that it would be really hard to say he has a secret second life.If anybody learned the truth about Karam’s background, it might come as a shock but it wouldn’t be a betrayal of what they already knew about him because they probably knew so little in the first place. But still, even with all that said, most people probably don’t assume his formative years were spent memorising the names and properties of lethal poisons or that, when others were worrying about high school exams, he was mixing paraquat into drinks. 

WHAT WOULD BE THEIR OWN DEAL BREAKER IN A RELATIONSHIP ? WOULD THEY DIE FOR LOVE OR KILL FOR MONEY ?

To be honest, Karam’s not really interested in romantic or sexual relationships but, if we’re talking about platonic relationships, anything that can be read as a betrayal, especially of his trust, would be a deal breaker. He’s not very forgiving and he tends to be very forthright so, if you wrong him, you can consider that bond severed. Karam has lived a very isolated life and he struggles to get close to people so it doesn’t take a lot of work on his part to cut people out if he’s no longer comfortable with them. With that in mind, he might die for love, although his upbringing ensured that his natural instinct is escape and survival at all costs, but he’d have to be very, very close with that person. As for killing for money, he’s not really that money-driven so it’s unlikely. However, he did spend most of his life killing for free just because he was told to. Generally speaking, he would prefer not to kill anybody these days but his morals concerning human life might be a little skewed; murder is a last resort for Karam but, if he does have to fall back on it, it probably wouldn’t fuck him up the way it might another person. What’s most likely for Karam is him killing for love. If he were given an ultimatum that either Karam dies or someone he cares about dies, he’d absolutely just try to kill the person giving it.

THEY ONLY HAVE ENOUGH CHANGE FOR ONE CALL AT THE PHONEBOOTH, & SOMEONE WITH GLARING RED EYES & A SPATULA IS STANDING ACROSS THE STREET. WHO WILL THEY CALL ?

Nobody. Karam is very solitary and very much prefers to deal with his problems by himself. He would run. That’s it. Forget the phone booth, he’s getting out of there. If it doesn’t work then maybe he was just meant to die violently but he’s a fast runner and he’s not standing about waiting for death to find him.

II : THE ZEIGEIST OF THE '90S

THEIR FAVORITE SLASHER FILM IS ( IF APPLICABLE ) …

Karam hasn’t actually…uh…watched that many movies, in the grand scheme of things. Slashers don't really appeal to him though. He's read horror novels though and he finds those interesting. Shout out to the library!

IN THEIR FREE TIME, THEY ENJOY GOING OUT AND …

Wandering. His only other real option is staying at the apartment complex and hanging out with pigeons (who, for the record, he has befriended; street pigeons are just feral domestic pigeons, after all). Karam likes being among nature so it’s not uncommon to find him out by the coast or wandering aimlessly through some forest on the outskirts of the city. He also enjoys trying to access places he shouldn’t. It’s not really clear why he enjoys this but, regardless, he’s weirdly good at climbing trees and buildings, granted they have something for him to hold onto. He would probably be pretty good at parkour. I don’t think he has a lot of real hobbies though. Lately, he’s been quite into sneaking around and trying to gather clues about the weird events in the town. That’s not really a healthy outlet though. Someone give this man something to DO.

A FASHION FAD OF THE TIMES THEY ADORE THAT THEIR FRIENDS WOULD DESPISE IS …

You might have already guessed the answer to this one but…Karam doesn’t really keep up with fads. That’s not to say he doesn’t care about his appearance because, surprisingly, he is very particular about it. You don’t consistently keep your hair a weird colour (it’s a silverish-blue) if you don’t care about how you look, right? But, for the most part, he really just dresses in all black. (Perhaps you could argue that his dress sense sometimes mirrors what was seen in the Karasu Zoku movement but that was the 80s and he’s not Japanese.)

HOW OFTEN DO THEY ORDER DELIVERY FROM PEPPY'S PIZZERIA ? HAVE THEY EVER SEEN THE WALLS OOZE GREEN SLIME IN THE PIZZERIA OR THE ANIMATRONICS MOVE ON THEIR OWN DURING THEIR TIME IN ANCHORAGE ?

Never. He ordered it once at his old roommate’s behest and, having never eaten it before, insisted on adding as many toppings as possible. It tasted awful and he hated it and hasn’t touched pizza since.

WHEN THEY BELIEVED IN CHRISTMAS, WERE THEY TOLD KRAMPUS WOULD PAY THEM A VISIT FOR BEING ON THE NAUGHTY LIST ? ( WRITE N/A IF NOT APPLICABLE TO THEIR RELIGION OR LIFESTYLE )

N/A (he did not celebrate Christmas growing up and his original self died too young to have many fixed memories of the season, putting aside the fact his original self was also Korean and didn’t celebrate according to Western traditions.)

WHAT TALL TALE OR SUPERSTITION WERE THEY TOLD AS A CHILD THAT STILL GIVES THEM THE HEEBIE JEEBIES ?

Karam was, from a very young age, expected to learn about the different horrific ways people could die of poisoning and, if he couldn’t stomach that, he was as good as useless. However, when he did catch wind of weird stories, his natural urge was to start picking them apart and questioning the details. He was always more interested in getting to the bottom of why these stories are told, especially if they’re untrue. Based on his keen interest in the current situation in Anchorage, he hasn’t lost this curiosity.

III : THE CURSE OF THE SPIDER

ARE THERE FAMILY SECRETS OR SO-CALLED CURSES THAT HAUNT THEM ? ONES THAT ARE KNOWN PUBLICLY OR FOLLOW THEM FIGURATIVELY ?

Karam has no family. He feels no attachment to his original self’s family. All he knows is that he was the child of a single mother and then he wasn’t anymore. (This is not an answer to this question but, in Karam’s original non-Anchorage plotline, he is a (fraternal) twin but I haven’t decided if I want to carry that over here; in that plotline, he wasn’t raised with his twin so it makes no difference). 

WHICH OF THE SEVEN SINS WOULD CORRUPT THEIR MORALS ?

Wrath, hands down. Although Karam does come off as quite cool and collected to most people, he’s actually quite emotional. It’s just that he doesn’t show or express it well. There’s a side to Karam that is very volatile and, if pushed hard enough, he absolutely would snap.

THE WORLD REMAINS THE SAME FOR DECADES NOW. IS IGNORANCE BLISS ? OR IS THERE THE SHAKY SENSE SOMETHING IS AMISS THAT CAN'T BE IGNORED ?

Karam is suspicious about…uh, just about everything. As a result of his upbringing, he knows there’s a lot going on in the world that most people couldn’t even begin to fathom. Strictly speaking, he’s not somebody who should even exist. He hasn’t got it all figured out and maybe he’s not entirely certain that time is standing still as such but he’s aware of the social stagnation, the way nobody is moving on from old trends in the way they should and that nothing ever seems to fall out of cultural relevance. Karam isn’t the best at communicating with and understanding people so he spends a lot of time taking in his surroundings, trying to learn how to make sense of others, and the lack of apparent progress, outside of certain areas (the medical field, some aspects of technology), is strange to him. 

DREAMS ARE OFTEN INFLUENCED BY THE SUBCONSCIOUS & SOMETIMES DISTORTED. IN THEIR DEEPEST, DARKEST NIGHTMARES, HOW DO THEY VIEW THEMSELVES ?

Most of Karam’s bad dreams these days revolve around the theme of being useless and unneeded, of being left behind and discarded. In these dreams, he is also often the villain, a murderer whose actions have come back to haunt him.

IV : THE CROOKED FRAME

WHAT IS THEIR DEATH WISH ? MIROIRS ONLY ( BASTARDS GANG INCLUDED ) : THE PERFECT CRIME WAS CONSTRUCTED & SOMEONE ELSE TOOK THEIR PLACE. HOW DID THEY ORIGINALLY DIE ?

Karam has no particular death wish but, if he had to settle on something, he’d want something quick and thoughtless. After all, he won’t have to worry about it when he’s dead. Now, Karam doesn’t want to die and, if given the option, he would try to live at all costs but he’s also not actively afraid of death either. He wants to live but he knows he’ll die someday anyway. However, he doesn’t want a slow death, painful or otherwise, because he doesn’t want the chance to learn that he might be afraid of dying after all. He also does not want to be poisoned because he’s seen the worst of that. It’s not a pretty way to go.

He, the child whose name Karam has almost forgotten (whose name he’d decided not to use as his own), had died very young back in South Korea. He couldn’t have been more than about seven or eight years old. His mother, unable to take care of him, had left him at the door of an orphanage. He waited a while at the front steps of the building but, once he realised she wasn’t coming back, he left without ever being noticed by anybody at the orphanage. The boy would spend the next week or so fending for himself as best as he could, running from anybody who might take him to safety, driven by a lack of trust. He died when he was hit by a car, too dizzy from hunger to sense it coming. Weirdly enough, the streets were exactly where Karam wound up when he was abandoned by the program.

Not even in Anchorage! Karam had actually left town to avoid the Valentine’s crowd and the fuss of the carnival on its busiest day of the month. He’d gone out to the coast, just to watch the world go by. The power had already been out a little while when he finally got back to town.

Karam is the sort of person who REALLY delves into a subject of interest and, as stated before, he’s very interested in the weird shit that keeps going on so I would imagine he’s also the type of person who would research something deeply enough to end up discovering the dark web at some point. However, he’s not that interested in technology. His social media is very sparingly used and he doesn’t even own a computer. The wall keeping Karam out of the dark web is his opinion that it’s a dumb waste of time.

Honestly, the mask I chose for Ash for the original task is probably not that far off the mark? I went with the idea of him making it himself and also totally forgetting he was supposed to stick to a theme so, at least in-universe, that’s as authentically Ash as you’re gonna get. So, yeah, black with chains and rings, a little bit of stud action. Not quite punk but sort of punk-adjacent. Maybe the one thing I’d add is some kind of padlock motif somewhere because I think that plays into the whole thief thing in a pretty fun way.

The whole thief thing! It’s not really as prominent a part of his life as it was when he was going up but he’s definitely still swiping shit behind people’s back and he’s good at it so most people aren’t aware unless he’s bothered to tell them. He doesn’t really tell people about his childhood because he thinks it’s kind of a downer and it’s not worth talking about but, if you’re his friend and he knows you don’t give a shit about petty crime, you probably know he’s good at stealing shit. You just won’t know why. So I’m not sure how much it qualifies as a double life now, in his adult life, even if most people don’t know. But growing up, he absolutely led a double life.

WHAT WOULD BE THEIR OWN DEAL BREAKER IN A RELATIONSHIP ? WOULD THEY DIE FOR LOVE OR KILL FOR MONEY ?

Ash has probably only had super casual relationships and, if anything, he’s probably the one who’s more likely to get dumped for being flighty and being a little emotionally distant. It’s weird because he doesn’t come off as emotionally distant and he’s generally open about his feelings but he tends to shut out any more complicated emotions. But, as for a real deal-breaker, the number one thing besides the obvious (cheating and so on) would be judgement. If he got the feeling his partner was unfairly judging him or getting morally superior with him, he’d probably bail on that shit fast. I also don’t think Ash would kill for money. Maybe if it was a LOT of money. But, even then, he’d have to be pretty desperate and it would haunt him forever. Not ideal.

I’m not sure if Ash truly trusts anyone to the degree that he’d turn to them for help. Even the people he’s friends with, I think he’d take the stance that it’s his issue that he needs to deal with. He’s very used to getting on with shit by himself, even that’s a risky outlook. But Ash is also constantly trying to pull tricks to wriggle out of shit so I could see him pretending to phone someone as a distraction and using it to stall until he thinks of a decent escape plan. If it comes down to it, he’d probably try and bar the booth door for as long as he can. And THEN he might try and think of someone to call.

I don’t know enough about the slasher sub-genre to say anything useful or meaningful here, sorry! Ash is actually quite content to piss about at home, not doing very much. I don’t know if he’s quite a homebody but he doesn’t really care either way, except that going out too often is eventually draining. There are a few specific places around town he likes hanging out though. Generally speaking, he’ll go anywhere if someone calls him up or finds him with the aim of dragging him along. He likes spontaneity.

He’s not much of a trend follower but I’d say…maybe bucket hats? That’s the one sticking out to me. Let’s throw overly-customised jeans into the mix too. Ash tends to alter a lot of his own outfits.

Ash has a personal vendetta against Peppy’s because of the time his dad left him there. He’s not sure why or how that happened but he’s accepted it’s a 20 year old unsolved mystery). Regardless, he was five and already scared of being by himself so the animatronics seemed much more unsettling than they should have done. He’s not afraid of animatronics but he’s not a big fan of these ones specifically, for strictly personal reasons. He’s probably gotten delivery a few times though because, hey, he likes pizza. No robots are gonna ruin that for him. However, if someone else told him these rumours about the pizzeria? He’d be like ‘sure, that makes sense, place is evil’.

Nope! Ash has celebrated Christmas his whole life but it was always very minimal. His dad didn’t really bother decorating the trailer because it was deemed a waste of money but Christmas was always a BIG season for the pair of them, in terms of stealing shit and making money off of it. Ash is aware he probably unwittingly ruined Christmas for some people and, honestly, he does not feel great about it! His dad didn’t really bother with stuff like Santa so Ash knew from a young age that he wasn’t real. His aunt tried to keep up the charade for Ash’s sake but his dad couldn’t keep his mouth shut. In any case, there was no real need for something like Krampus. His dad raised Ash with a very skewed moral system, after all.

Ash was born in Anchorange in 1998 to a pair of literal teenagers which means his dad was in the perfect age group that have been hearing and sharing childish rumours about the disappearances. I can absolutely imagine that, by the time he was old enough to understand scary stories, his dad would have told him rumours about the Hash-Slinging Slasher and the disappearances in general. Who needs ghost stories when Anchorage is bad enough?

Ash knows very little about his wider family outside of his dad and maybe his aunt. His dad had allowed his sister contact with Ash but drawn the line at his parents or anybody else. Ash doesn’t know anybody on his mother’s side. To him, even the most common knowledge is basically a secret. However, the fact that Ash’s father is probably one of the disappeared does kind of follow him, although less so now than as a teenager. Being the son of a potential victim and having everyone know about it but not even really care like they should because it’s so common is a lot to deal with. 

WHICH OF THE SEVEN SINS WOULD CORRUPT THEIR MORALS ?

Probably sloth? Not in the sense that Ash is lazy or anything but, overall, he’s pretty apathetic about a lot of things. Sloth is supposed to be the one sin that’s defined by inaction, rather than by immoral actions, and Ash’s approach to things is very much based on just getting on with it. Although, the seven deadly sins are very much tied to Christian morality so it’s hard to say to what extent this is really an issue. Would sloth corrupt him to the extent that he stopped caring about other people? I’m not entirely sure, I think he’s still generally empathetic about people. Just not always other stuff.

THE WORLD REMAINS THE SAME FOR DECADES NOW. IS IGNORANCE BLISS ? OR IS THERE THE SHAKY SENSE SOMETHING IS AMISS THAT CAN'T BE IGNORED ?

In terms of the stagnation of time? I mean, again, Ash tends to just get on with shit. Maybe once or twice, he’s thought it’s weird that stuff seems pretty stagnant but he also doesn’t have enough reference of the world before him so it’s easy to ignore. As for everything else, I’m not sure Ash has any concrete suspicions or any real ideas as to what might be going on but he’s always been curious, even since his dad disappeared. Maybe his dad was just regular old murdered, who knows? But it was so sudden. But it’s not something he’d necessarily admit to being curious about either.

Afraid. A coward. He’s aware he tends to run away from his problems and his nightmares probably reflect that to some degree. Stressed out. Running from things. Feeling ashamed about it. And it’s weird because he knows he’s capable of fighting back and he knows he’s willing. He’s not really a coward in real life. Real threats don’t usually bother him that much. But he runs from things that are much bigger than him, things that are much more abstract. He’s just one person. And, maybe, he kind of hates that about himself.

That his death not be something lame. If he has to die, he’d like to mean something. To have some impact somehow, just to make his mark and prove he was alive. But, failing that, it doesn’t really matter so long as it isn’t something embarrassing or really boring. He’d at least like for his death to be something that might make a person say ‘oh, wow…’ — not that he wants to die or is at peace with the idea of dying but he doesn’t really view himself as an especially important or memorable person so, if his adult life has to be a little mundane, he’d at least like to go out in an interesting way.

Trapped in the tunnel itself, babeeeeeeeeeeeey!! That doesn’t really clear his name in and of itself, I guess, but that is where he was. He was busy being mad that he couldn’t wriggle his way out of that problem. Maybe if he’d had his lockpicking kit handy……but who knows? Either way, Ash has no idea WHAT the fuck was going on!

If we were being very, very literal about this? I’d say he just wouldn’t have one! The number one lesson he learned as a thief was to leave nothing behind. Not a single trace. However, to answer the question fairly, I’m going to stick with the obvious motif I’ve settled on for Ash and say a magpie feather. Probably one of the black and white ones rather than the blue-green iridescent ones?

Ash does own a laptop that he stole from a big chain store but he’s not super tech-savvy or anything. It’s not really his realm of interest so he’s never really delved into it. But he is somewhat aware of it, mostly because he spent most of his childhood sneaking into people’s homes. He oversaw glimpses of a lot of things that were none of his business. Maybe he’d appreciate having better internet for streaming purchases but he also kind of likes the tactile, analogue experience of physical media.

stating something about the bastards is too easy an answer. it's nearly a given, though no one would dare publicly question fallon about her affiliation if they didn't fear immediate retaliation as they should. rather, a double life could be said about the covert addict life. it's easy to hide behind the booze and the pot as just facets of her lifestyle, a cigarette always to adorn the lips. but behind the backs of those she loves the most, tucked in dark corners and walking lonely streets, there's the surreptitious use of coke. and the desire for something more. stronger. intravenous...

christmas wasn't a fixture in fallon's household even after they moved stateside. the whole knowledge of krampus came from fallon's own delve into folklore in high school, satiating that need for the dark and gritty, and was the whole inspiration for her own snowman she entered into the contest simply because she thought it would be funny to include something grotesque among the adorable entries. what she does believe in? karma. and it certainly divined exaction on her for that act since the krampus snowman had been "stolen" and implicated with the new year's atrocities. in a way... did krampus pay a visit for fallon's naughtiness?

when fallon first heard about w*ndigos. something about cannibalistic fiends morphed of humans prowling in the wilderness all across the world frightened her terribly as a child. even now, when she looks out into the woods from the motel, she can envision a twisted creature staring back, hopeful to devour her heart.

ignorance is bliss. fallon doesn't care ( or doesn't even realize ) that the world doesn't appear to have changed in an abnormally long period of time.

fallon is largely unaware of her own imposter. and she hopes that when her due is ready to be collected, that it goes swiftly. a bullet to the back of the head. dead before she hits the ground. originally? she had already been her parents' collateral once. a test subject sold off to wipe the slate clean and rid themselves of a burden. only, she came back... and different. wrong.
