POST 13- camera workshop day 1

Our first camera workshop took place on the 4th of February. We started with learning about the different types of cameras. That are:

These cameras are either

The Canon camera is the mirrored one which we will be using and the Sony is a mirrorless one.

Our sir then taught us how to rightly hold the camera and position ourselves properly that is, with our left leg ahead and right leg back, with the elbows tucked in which will help the shots be stable as it reduces hand movement and gives support. We each got to hold the Canon 5D Mark III and later on shoot with.

Once everyone had tried holding the camera, sir taught us about the different settings available in it.

Firstly, DSLR stands for digital single lense reactor

P which stands for program auto

AV which stands for aperture value

TV which stands for time value

M which stands for manual mode

Then he elaborated on:

Three Aspects of Light:

Aperture- the space that lets the light come in

Shutter speed- decides how much light will fall on the censor

ISO- intensity of light that falls on the censor

Depth of field:

Aperture- lower the value, shallower the depth of field

Focal Length- higher the focal length or closer the object, shallower the depth of field

Physical Distance- closer to the object, shallower the depth of field

Rack focus is where one subject is in focus and gradually the focus changes to another subject in the scene.

The other week I took some of my LOMO OCT19s for a quick service to the only UK place that always ready to tackle them - @vandiemenfilms 👍 While waiting I got to check out so many cool lenses, including a very special, newly rehoused LOMO Square Front anamorphic prime with the Cooke Kinetal 37.5mm as a spherical “taking” lens inside the rehousing. 😍 Certainly an unusual combo, but I got to quickly test it on my camera and it works! 😳 If you know Kinetals, it’s not something that you expect to use on anything larger than S16, but surprisingly, it covers the S35 crop on my camera, which is surprising and impressive at the same time 😅 I shot a bit of test footage & I’ll share it in one of my upcoming posts! Now, WandaVision had shifting aspect ratios: 1.33:1, 1.78:1 (16:9), and 2.39:1, and it served a purpose to the narrative: to show which era the episodes are taking place. 60s and 70s, 1.33:1, in black and white, shifting to color. 80s and 90s, 1.78:1. Modern day, 2.39:1.

The use of spherical or anamorphic lenses don’t bother me that much, in this case. The aspect ratio’s shifting.

WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are a series meant to be seen at home. The Falcon and the Winter Solder is at a constant 2.39:1 cinemascope, and I don’t understand why.

Besides wanting to mimic the cinematic look. If that’s the case, it’d make sense for them to use anamorphic lenses. But according to their IMDb page, though they state they used anamorphic lenses, they happened to list the lens lineup they used during production:

1. Panavision Primo 70 2. Zeiss Master Primes

Neither are anamorphic lenses; they’re spherical, designed for large format digital cinema cameras. Meaning, in order to achieve the 2.39:1 aspect ratio, they cropped the image. Lots of movies do this. It also makes some sense financially.

But The Falcon and the Winter Solder is a “TV” series. Is it really necessary to crop for cinemascope? It almost seems planned out. Hell, it probably is. The more recent Marvel movies are now presented exclusively in 2.39:1. Then there’s the IMAX presentation, which expands to 1.90:1, either for certain scenes, or for the whole movie (Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, and Shang-Chi). The only way you can see that is in IMAX. Before Disney+ released them in IMAX Enhanced.

IMAX tickets cost more money. They’ll rake in more profits if they force diehard Marvel fans to go see these movies in the IMAX format by coughing up more dough, by finalizing the movies in 2.39:1, while preparing the IMAX version with the expanded 1.90:1 aspect ratio.

With all that said, I don’t see the point of why The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s in constant 2.39:1. Except to make it fit with the rest of the movies.

The only MCU movie I can think of that wasn’t finalized in 2.39:1 is Ant-Man, which was presented in 1.85:1, both normal theatrical exhibition and IMAX.

Apple iPad Air

This is the best iPad for most people, especially if you plan on using it for work (see our iPad guide for more details on why we think so). It’s powerful, has a modern design, yet retains features like Touch ID, which is integrated into the side power button. It works with the second-gen Apple Pencil too.

This is our favorite Android camera phone right now. It has an excellent and versatile camera system that lets you snap photos up to 10X zoom in great quality. It also excels in performance and screen quality, and it has an exceptional build. It’s full-featured, and you can read more about it in our review. The standard Galaxy S21 is also on sale for $675 ($135 off) when you add it to your cart; it gets you most of the same features, though the camera quality is a step behind.

The OnePlus 8 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) uses 2020’s flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and at this price, it’s one of the cheapest powerful Android phones around.

This is one of the lowest prices we’ve seen on an already cheap phone. It’s one of our favorites under $250. You get nearly three-day battery life, solid performance, and passable cameras. You can read more about it in our review.

This is our favorite wireless charging stand overall. The fabric won’t scratch your phone, and the steel base with silicone grips prevents it from wobbling around. Plus, the LED that signals it’s charging is on the back, so you don’t have a blinding light right in your face. There’s no power adapter included, but you do get a 6.5-foot-long USB-A to USB-C cable.

This wireless charger will recharge any phone that supports wireless charging, but it’s best paired with select Pixel phones that have the feature. It’s our favorite wireless charger for nightstands (seriously). Plop your phone on it and you’ll be treated to an interface that resembles a smart display. You can have it cycle through your favorite albums from Google Photos, get easy access to Google Assistant, and have your phone screen brighten up in a warm tone right before your alarm goes off to slowly pull you out of sleep.

This is the lowest price ever on our favorite wireless headphones. The fourth generation of Sony’s flagship model brings better microphones and even better sound to an already great package. They have long battery life, a comfy fit, and some of the best sound quality for the price. 

Bose’s flagship noise-canceling headphones are also cheaper than ever this Prime Day. They have even better microphones than the Sony model above, but slightly worse sound quality. They’re the best headphones for phone calls—even if you’re in a noisy coffee shop or the kids are yelling in the next room, they use special tech to silence the world around you so the person on the other end will hear you clearly.

The 45H are our favorite headphones under $100 for good reason. They have 40 hours of battery life, a comfortable fit, and pretty decent sound. If you need a cheap pair to go with your new phone, check these out.

Jabra’s lifeproof earbuds are cheaper than ever this Prime Day. They boast an IP57 dust- and water-resistance rating and come with noise canceling and four beam-forming mics for flights and calls. The newer Jabra 85T have taken this pair’s spot on our Best Wireless Earbuds list, but they’re still great.

The full discount is added once you’ve started the checkout process. The Powerbeats Pro by Apple are some of our favorite wireless workout earbuds. They get amazing battery life and sound excellent. The only downside to them might be that if you aren’t working out, they can be a little cumbersome to put on and take off, and their charging cradle is large. They’ve alternated between $200 and a $170 sale price most of this year.

These are our favorite wireless earbuds (8/10, WIRED Recommends) for most people. That’s because they’re affordable (especially on sale), offer up a comfy fit, are sweat-resistant so you can use them for your home workouts, and they manage to sound pretty great for the price. They hold six hours of battery life, but you can pop ’em in the case, which holds another 16 hours.

The only reason we don’t regularly tell our readers to buy Bose speakers is their prices. But at this discount, the Soundlink Revolve+ definitely deserves a look. There are cheaper options available from the likes of JBL or Ultimate Ears, but the Soundlink Revolve+ sounds great in all directions thanks to a 360-degree driver system, the IPX4 rating protects it from splashes, and the included handle makes it super easy to tote around, like a lantern full of party jams. JBL Boombox

If you miss the boombox era but you’re in love with Spotify or Apple Music, this giant Bluetooth speaker from JBL might strike your fancy. The speaker made our list solely because it’s so unique. We’ve loved the basic Kindle for years, and now that it comes with a backlight, it’s the model we recommend in our Best Kindles guide. This is the best price we’ve seen in 2021, and it even comes with three months of Kindle Unlimited, which lets you read a huge number of ebooks for free. 

If you’re a bathtub or beach reader, the Kindle Paperwhite is worth the extra cash. It features an IPX8 rating, which means you can chuck it in 2 meters of water (not that you should). Otherwise, it’s very similar to the standard Kindle. Read the differences here. You can get the Paperwhite in 8 gigabytes or 32 for $15 more.

The latest Echo Buds (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are a great value at this Prime Day price. Sure, you don’t get the same noise-canceling quality as the most expensive buds from Sony and Apple, but these come with a battery case that wirelessly charges, Alexa onboard, solid sound, and a price less than half as high as those options. They’re a super deal, provided you don’t hate Amazon’s voice assistant.

Echo Dot with Clock

I (Parker Hall) have been using the Echo Dot with clock as an alarm clock for more than a year now, and it’s become indispensable. It’s the best Alexa speaker for the bedroom. I like that it tells you when you have an alarm set and counts down visually from timers, and it doubles as the best sleep sounds machine I’ve found. It sounds pretty good, too, with enough volume to fill most small rooms with your favorite tunes.

The latest Echo Show looks just like its predecessor, but it features a much better camera and the ability to follow you as you wander around your kitchen or living room. We like this size more than the 5- or 10-inch options because it fits nearly anywhere, and the screen remains big enough that it’s easy to see on the countertop. Read our Echo guide to learn more.

The swiveling screen of the Echo Show 10 makes it awesome for those with kids who are constantly darting in and out of frame, but it does require a bit more counter space than the smaller Echo Shows. The size does have a benefit when it comes to sound, with the rounded base pumping out a pretty surprising soundstage.

Adrienne So likes how cute the Echo Show kids editions are, and she says they have surprisingly clear sound. This deal also includes a year of Amazon Kids+ (formerly FreeTime Unlimited) content. Fire TV Stick 4K

The Fire TV Stick 4K is one of the best streaming devices for your TV. It’s not as great as Roku or Android TV, but Fire TV is still a solid ecosystem, and for $25 this is a great way to upgrade from your TV’s built-in interface. Unsurprisingly, the main menu is geared heavily toward Prime Video content.

This is our favorite Amazon Fire tablet and the best budget tablet. I (Parker Hall) have cooked dozens of casseroles, soups, and other dishes in this Lodge Dutch oven, and I highly recommend it to all. I’ve cooked with fancier pots from Le Creuset at my mom’s house, and I just really can’t tell the difference. This is a steal. They even have Le Creuset-like colors. With good temperature scheduling, it also means that you can make it cooler at night if you’re a warm sleeper.

This is our favorite mouse with a dock. Razer makes some of the best gaming peripherals, and this wireless mouse offers great features for the price. It has a narrow-body form factor and a really good optical sensor, and you won’t have to deal with annoying cables cluttering up your desk. It even has a compartment to stow the dongle in the mouse itself, which makes it great for people on the go.

The Pulsefire Surge has been one of our favorite gaming mice for a while now. It’s straightforward, unassuming, does everything you need a wired gaming mouse to do, and doesn’t bog you down with too many buttons. Plus, it has lights.The Pulsefire Core is also a great option for $14 less.

This bundle isn’t a huge discount, but it does give you a free 128-GB MicroSD card, which is an essential accessory for Switch. The Nintendo Switch has a lot of great games, and the Switch Lite is a cheaper way to play. The only downside is that it’s only made for handheld play. It cannot broadcast to a TV and has no built-in Joy-Cons for motion control. You’ll have to buy them separately if motion control is needed for a game.

This is our top gaming headset under $50, and at $42 it’s a steal. It works on any system and is comfier and sounds better than many expensive headsets. It does have a more plastic build than higher-end Arctis models, but it’s still comfy and works great.

JBL’s Quantum 800s have some of the best spatial surround sound you’ll find, which makes them great for those who spend a lot of time playing first-person shooters or other massive online games, where hearing someone behind you can mean the difference between life and death. The Quantum 800 features active noise cancelling, but the Quantum 600 is also pretty affordable, and the Quantum 300 is a solid alternative if you’re looking for a wired headset.

It’s not the fanciest headset out there, but it sure is reliable. Logitech’s G935 is soft and cushiony, and thanks to its internal surround system, it does a great job of bringing in-game environments to life.

This is our favorite gaming laptop. A 6-Core Intel i7 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 graphics card makes last year’s Razor Blade a capable gaming laptop for all but the most intense games. For $1,000, it’s also a good pick for students who are looking for a more powerful computer for coding, or for video or music work.

Dell’s gaming brand makes some of the best gaming laptops and PCs, and the M15 is no different. It’s slim and powerful, and it has an eye-popping screen with a 240-Hz refresh rate. The only catch, historically, has been the price. We reviewed a similar version here and put it on our list of the Best Gaming Laptops, and we think this is a good deal for enthusiasts.

You’ll need a pretty powerful computer to get the most out of this, but if you’ve got one it’s a great deal.

This is our favorite laptop stand for most people. It can get higher than most, and you can adjust it to pretty much any angle you want. It’s also sturdy enough that you don’t have to worry about heavier laptops or tablets.

Chromebooks are often underpowered, but not this 13-inch Lenovo, which packs an Intel Core i3 processor. It’d be nice if there was a little more RAM, but the i3 chip, combined with the 4 gigabytes of RAM, should be able to handle most of what the web throws at you.

Samsung has come out with a newer version of the Galaxy Chromebook than this, but this is still one of the best we’ve used. The only problem is the battery life, which is pretty bad—you’ll rarely get more than 5.5 hours of juice before a trip to the wall.

Even with Apple’s recent AirTag launch, Tile is still one of our favorite ways to find all your stuff. I (Parker) have been using this set for about six months, and I never lose my stuff. This 2-pack comes with both a Pro and a Slim tile. The Pro attaches to your keys and the Slim slides in your wallet, making it a perfect one-two combo.

A random bunch of black and silver Soviet primes? Not exactly - this is my final selection of Russian M42 and M39 that will be sent to @ironglassadapters for a full conversion, that will result in a fully matched, cinevised set, as seen in the 2nd photo 👉 Firstly, I want all of them to look the same, so I’m going for a polished silver look, which looks super cool too! As you can see in the 1st photo, my primes have slightly different coatings, so to colour match them a bit better, I’m going for the “amber” internal coating mod (2nd photo has the “purple” coating), which will give them even warmer and better matched look. Apart from that, all lenses will get same size fronts, metal follow focus gears & permanent PL mounts! To take it that one step further, I’m going for the “anamorfake” mod, which will include oval aperture disks for anamorphic style bokeh (I’m going for a black one) and a line in the middle, which will create that anamorphic looking flare (haven’t decided on the colour yet). These lenses are very dear to me and I’m super excited to make them even more special, Even more importantly I want them to be more usable for professional work, because we all know that in their original form, they can be a bit of a hit and miss and you can’t always trust them for anything other than casual use. Tha magazine reports that the production house Films at 59 has supplied BBC Studios in Cardiff with Cooke anamorphic Prime lenses and Angenieux Optimo anamorphic zooms that will be used with Arri Alexa XT and Alex Mini cameras. The intention is to bring an increased cinematic look to the show which went into production at the end of October. Films at 59 hire client manager Dave Wride told Broadcast The BBC have made a monumental leap here to enhance the look of Doctor Who and I’m sure the fans will not be disappointed with the distinctly cinematic results that this lens and camera combo will afford them. The lens change is one of a number of changes being made by the new production team led by Executive Producers Chris Chibnall and Matt Strevens, in what is expected to be a major reboot for the series. Earlier this month The Mirror reported that Composer Murray Gold is also to leave after this year's Christmas Special, but this has not been confirmed by the BBC. One person definitly departing is Edward Russell, who has been Brand Manager on Doctor Who since it returned in 2005. Russell announced his departure on twitter I’ve been planning my departure since the summer & agreed to stay on to see out Peter Capaldi’s era. I’ll be here until the end of the year. The role ends with my departure but I’m sure the work will continue. What an amazing 12 years! With the appearance of media releases from the various national Panasonic branch offices including this one from Panasonic Australia, it has become clearer that the Lumix S5 35mm sensor-equipped DSLR-style may be the hybrid stills/video camera we were hoping for when the Lumix DC-S1 launched Panasonic’s contribution to the L-Mount Alliance.

I will enjoy studying the complete Lumix S5 specifications list and watching the videos that have been released so far, and am looking forward to the coming release of the announced four wide aperture prime lenses that will perfectly complement the Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens, not to mention any new L-mount lenses from Sigma.

On terminology

I refuse to comply with the inane and inaccurate marketing department terminology applied cameras with 35mm sensors, “full frame” and “full format”, and will continue that rejection of fuzzy thinking in writing about such cameras.

“Full frame” may have had some usefulness back in the 1960s during the days of half-frame analog cameras using 35mm film, such as the Olympus Pen F half-frame SLR, but the intended meaning of “full format” remains indecipherable.

The S5 is packed with impressive video capabilities, including 4K 60p 10-bit internal recording and external output via HDMI, full Varicam V-log profile pre-installed in the camera, 4:3 Anamorphic Super 35 mode and up to 180 frames per second (fps) Slow Motion shooting. The camera is also compatible with Panasonic’s DMW-XLR1 microphone adaptor, allowing professional audio equipment to be used in video creation. Additionally, RAW video output via HDMI up to 5.9K will be available via a future firmware update.

For hybrid shooters who want to take a step up, the S5 delivers stunning image quality and greater creative scope. It contains the 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor first introduced in the LUMIX S1, providing impressive low-light performance and incredibly high dynamic range. This is backed by the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 image stabilisation system with up to 6.5-stops[i] of camera shake correction for handheld shooting. The camera also incorporates an improved Deep Learning autofocus algorithm that detects specific subjects – humans and fast-moving animals – with great accuracy.

Inspired by the flagship S Series professional camera lineup, the S5 provides enthusiasts with a compact, durable camera designed for field use. The camera’s full magnesium alloy weather-sealed body is splash and dust resistant, essential for working in a range of environmental conditions. Dual SD card slots offer further flexibility with relay recording and backup support. A large, high-resolution OLED viewfinder delivers quick response with minimum distortion for easy and accurate framing of the scene.

Creative aids for expressive photography include “Live View Composite”, newly-introduced to the S Series with the S5, which combines multiple exposures into a single image that emphasises bright points while suppressing overexposure of the total image and maintaining the shadows, thus reducing the learning curve for light painting and long exposure photography. The S5 also features sensor-shift 96-megapixel (MP) high resolution mode, which can capture detailed landscapes with increased dynamic range and colour reproduction, with files created in-camera without the need for external software.

Panasonic is currently developing a number of S Series prime and zoom lenses at popular focal lengths, designed to further expand the creative possibilities for LUMIX S Series users. These new portable and lightweight lenses include a 24mm F1.8, 35mm F1.8, 50mm F1.8, 85mm F1.8 and a 70-300mm F4.5-5.6, all of which will complement the S5 very well.

Key LUMIX S5 Capabilities

Exceptional recording performance for video creation

As a pioneer of photo/video hybrid mirrorless cameras, LUMIX has the largest lineup of cameras that record 4K 10-bit video[ii]. The S5 is no exception, and is capable of unlimited 4K 60p/50p 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output and also delivers unlimited 4K 30p/25p 4:2:0 8-bit internal recording. In addition, 4K 60p/50p 4:2:0 10-bit and 4K 30p/25p 4:2:2 10-bit can be recorded internally for up to 30 minutes.

The camera features V-Log/V-Gamut with a wide dynamic range of 14+ stops, in line with the dynamic range of the Panasonic VariCam, to precisely capture everything from dark to bright areas. Subtle gradations such as skin tones are faithfully reproduced. Designed with consistent colour management in mind, the recorded footage is easily matched with V-Log footage recorded by the LUMIX S1/S1H or LUMIX GH5/GH5S, for an easier post production workflow. Practical tools like a Waveform Monitor and V-Log View Assist are included.

Slow & Quick mode enables impressive slow and quick motion video with autofocus[iii], and can be accessed directly using the mode dial. In 4K the S5 achieves up to 30x quick or 2.5x slow motion at 1-60fps, and in FHD it achieves 60x quick or 7.5x slow motion[iv] at 1-180fps.

Stunning image quality

The S5 has a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor (35.6 mm x 23.8mm) with Dual Native ISO technology. The sensor can leverage a dual-base ISO setting, resulting in minimised noise and outstanding image quality from low to high sensitivity. Dual Native ISO provides a greater variety of artistic choices, with the ability to use less light if desired. The S5’s Dual Native ISOs are 640 and 4000[v] in V-Log. This feature teams up with the Venus Engine processor to deliver a maximum ISO of up to 51200.

With the new Live View Composite function, the camera releases the shutter at designated exposure intervals and produces a single picture combining all the areas of high luminosity such as lights, stars or fireworks. The photographer can monitor this in Live View.

Panasonic’s 5-Axis Dual I.S. 2 offers excellent stability in a range of situations. A high-precision gyrosensor joins the Dual I.S. system of 5-axis in-body stabilisation and 2-axis optical stabilisation in selected lenses for highly accurate shake detection and compensation. This makes it possible to use up to 6.5 stops[vi] slower shutter speed in both photo and video. Incredibly stable performance can be achieved when shooting handheld at much slower shutter speeds and lower ISO values, reducing the need to carry a tripod or gimbal.

The 96MP High Resolution mode creates highly detailed images that can be turned into enormous prints or used in commercial imagery. Using sensor shift technology, it captures and combines eight consecutive images in-camera for outstanding results achieved when shooting handheld colours of natural landscapes to intricate fine arts, and can also be used when moving subjects are in the scene, by switching to the sub mode. It produces a 96MP equivalent (12,000 x 8,000-pixel) RAW and/or JPEG image.

High-speed, high-precision AF supported by real-time detection technology

Panasonic has achieved high-speed AF with its advanced control technology incorporating the major devices – lens, sensor and imaging engine. The lens and sensor communicate at a maximum 480 fps. Contrast AF with DFD technology allows the S5 to achieve an ultra high-speed, high-precision AF of approximately 0.08[vii] sec. It also excels in low-light shooting, with -6EV[viii] luminance detection performance in Low Light AF, thanks to the higher sensitivity and optimised tuning of the sensor.

The S5 also incorporates an improved Deep Learning autofocus algorithm that offers greater accuracy in detecting specific subjects – including humans, people’s faces, and fast-moving animals. In addition to the eye, face and body, the head is also separately recognised by real-time detection technology to provide even more precise focusing. The camera keeps tracking subjects when they move quickly, turn away, tilt their head or move far away from the camera. Also, improvements to DFD technology have enhanced AFC, which allows the camera to keep tracking small or fast-moving subjects and capture them in crisp focus.

Reliable performance plus expandability for creative freedom

To withstand heavy field use, the S5 has a magnesium alloy full die-cast body and is splash/dust-resistant[ix]. With an optimum layout of heat dispersion components, heat is effectively transferred externally, which results in stable, continuous video recording for an extended time.

The large OLED LVF (Live View Finder) has a magnification ratio of approx. 0.74x, 2,360K-dot high resolution and a minimum time lag of less than 0.005 sec. A versatile free-angle 3.0-inch LCD rear monitor (3:2 aspect, approx.1840K-dot) with touch control allows for quick changes to settings, even when the user is in front of the camera.

Other shooting assist functions include Frame Markers for checking composition during recording. A wide range of aspect ratios are supported, including those for popular social media platforms – 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 4:5, 5:4 and 9:16. In addition, the REC Frame Indicator displays an eye-catching red frame for checking at a glance if the camera is recording or not.

The S5 has dual SD Card slots – one slot complies with the high-speed, high-capacity UHS-II (Video Class 90) and the other with UHS-I. Users can select Relay Recording, Backup Recording or Allocation Recording modes.

The camera uses a new DMW-BLK22 high-capacity battery which meets its power demands in a small form factor. The S5 battery is also backwards compatible with the GH5, GH5S and G9. The camera’s battery can be recharged either via AC or USB, which is convenient if you are travelling and want to use a USB power bank. The S5 is also capable of power supply and delivery via USB-C, making it possible to continuously power the camera with a USB power source.

Content sharing with smartphones is streamlined using Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy connection, Wi-Fi 5-GHz (IEEE802.11ac) and 2.4-GHz (IEEE 802.11b/g/n). With an always-on Bluetooth connection, a smartphone can act as the camera’s remote control via the LUMIX Sync app. The settings of an S5 camera can also be copied and transmitted to other S5 cameras when shooting using multiple cameras.

The S5 is compatible with the LUMIX Tether applications which enable tethered shooting via USB. Users can control the camera by connecting it to a PC. Images can be viewed on a large PC screen while shooting, which is useful in situations where continuous confirmation is required. For live streaming, LUMIX Tether for Streaming (Beta) with LIVE VIEW mode is available. LUMIX Sync for iOS/Android devices enables image transfer to a smartphone or tablet via easy wireless connection.

Convenient optional accessories

A variety of optional accessories can be used with the S5. They include a Microphone Adaptor (DMW-XLR1) for professional XLR microphones to record high-quality stereo sound, as well as switchable Mic, Line and Condenser Microphones. The Battery Grip (DMW-BGS5) extends battery life and provides controls for portrait oriented shooting. Other accessories include a Remote Shutter (DMW-RS2), DC coupler (DMW-DCC17), and Tripod Grip (DMW-SHGR1).
