Hunger is avoidable When Worked Unitedly
"Can hunger be avoided?" We must address this question to make the world a more pleasant place to live. Food is an essential need for human survival. Hunger questions the survival of many. Hunger is a serious issue across the world.
Why Hunger in the World?
Millions of people struggle to find food every day. Many factors contribute to the struggle. The reasons are complex and varied but interconnected.
Without saying, poverty is the main reason for hunger, irrespective of rich or poor nations and people living in rural or urban. The next reason is job instability or underpayment of employees, where the people cannot feed themselves or their family enough with unstable income. Of course, food shortages and wastage issues are loud enough for everyone to hear. Even poor infrastructure aid to this pathetic situation by not facilitating enough transportation or water facilities to the hunger spots, primarily due to bad roads and improper water supply facilities. This hunger-causing list adds a few more: climate change, war and conflict, nutritional quality, discrimination, and unstable markets.
De-track of Sustainable Goals 2030
Zero hunger is nowhere near, says the UN. Hunger rates are increasing again after 2015. 690 million people are hungry, which is estimated to rise by 10 million in a year, and by 60 million in five years. They also predict by 2030, hunger would surpass 840 million.
Is Hunger Really Avoidable?
Hunger solutions are both simple and complex. The simple ones are interventions that need regular steps to be taken. On the other side is complex but long-lasting and sustainable solutions. The complex ones would include policy changes, political structure changes, and agricultural changes.
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in a report says the total food supply is more than adequate to meet the caloric needs of every individual in the world. Even the population goes high, food production can meet the needs. David Blandford, Professor of Agricultural Economics at Penn State, points out the reason for hunger even though food production is enough for the population. He states lack of societal structure to properly distribute the food is the major cause. The question of hunger is not about food production but getting it transported and made available to each one in the world.
You Can Eradicate Hunger
There are a lot of tech-based and CSR companies working towards destroying hunger. Anadhanam is one of them that aims to eradicate the hunger issues through re-distributing excess food from food surplus areas to hunger hotspots. The total amount of food waste when prevented can save 795 million people every year. Re-distribution of food is a simple way to feed the hungry. Though it needs constant interventions, we are dedicated to doing what it takes.
A shocking data on food wastage is that 1.3 billion tonnes of food are wasted every year around the globe. It represents one-third of the food production in the world. By moving little stones, we hope to build a mountain. With your help, we could do it together.
You can donate to help us transport the food from the food excess spots to the food hunger spots. We could destroy the hunger of many with our joint endeavor.
