not to sexualize that dead autistic man but... the undertone of sex in bunny corcoran is very clearly maladapative and dysfunctional (methinks intentionally so) but not in the "is hiding in plain sight" sort of way, in the "is so fucking detached off reality that he has no idea what real people talk and behave like during relationships" (see: autism)

#again i am sure donna l tartt doesn't know how masking or cognitive functions in autistic people work #but literally every man sex is brought up he's unexplicable #he's a straight man who gets hickies from his longterm girlfriend #he attempts to do sex rituals in the woods with 3 men and a woman he alleges he doesn't care for #when his girlfriend tries to hook up with his friend his OTHER FRIEND is way more scandalized than he is #he's not gay but he gets on trips with henry sleeps in henry's bed when he's upset with him #acts like a child about him and not the rest of them #idk #the irrationality of these all together to me just #cracks whatever the fuck he is #that while his feelings might be those that richard suspects or reactions that make sense #he absolutely does not... in “closed” or “safe” environments like his relationship with marion act like he would with richard #which is just masking #an uncaring nature about sex when it comes to yourself is also... colloquially a very autistic attitude #its not EVERYONE but it's a lot of people #where monogamous doesn't really describe how some of us view sex in relationships #like im not trying to hurhur say oh Edmund Greyden Bunny Colonel Corcoran is x label by today's standards of sexuality #because sexuality labels methinks are a hard thing to apply retroactively #but fghjk man was weird about sex and relationships and in my head the only explication is Tism Rizz
