while i've been away at uni, my brother's developed the same fear of spending money with which i'm still trying to deal, which is so upsetting because he's literally 17 this stuff shouldn't have to worry him

#the fact that he developed it too separately to me is very interesting though #because it does support my hypothesis that i picked it up from my parents' attitudes towards money #anyway when i have children i'm going to try and teach them simple economics from a young age & show that it needn't be scary #i do not fail to see the irony in that the thing i want to teach my children is the one subject i always avoided #but it's all about making things better for the next generation isn't it?#for now i just hope i can help my brother a little bit <3 #not to get possibly pseudopsychological but it all seems very generational #i think it goes back to my grandparents' childhoods & them being protective & secretive with money after growing up in poverty #an anxious and private disposition towards money which they passed down to their parents and now to us
