It's been several weeks since the cardiologist took my blood and halter monitor but they finally called me back about those 3 blood tests they did. One came back abnormal. It wasnt by a lot so I figured they would just blow it off.
NOPE apparently I need to go back in for more conclusive tests and they said something about looking for Amyloidosis.
Which is apparently a disease that fucks up your organs. It sounded familiar, I probably came across it looking up that weird result.
But yeah it mostly affects heart, kidney and the nervous system. Some of it overlaps with fibro/diabetic symptoms. Most of which I have. Like even the scalloped tongue and the blood pressure drop when I stand, which comes and goes.
Reading that the life expectancy was like 10 years was a bit alarming but there was a version that said "over 10 years". I suspect if it turns out I do have it, it probably isn't by much or that serious.
Still. Little bit anxious now. 👀
I do like that they're taking it seriously.
I get an echo next week. I had one before. No one had bothered to tell me the results but when my primary brought it up she said there was a bit of a problem with my heart filling with blood all the way, which was mentioned in the search for amyloidosis
🙄
My body is so frustrating it's like "Bitch I'm going to cause SO MANY PROBLEMS but keep it under the radar so you're gaslighted 😏"

Why do some people have wavy tongue edges?
Dr Amarnathan’s Dental Care
Have you noticed half-circle dents on the side of your tongue? This condition is known as scalloped tongue. Tongues with rippled or scalloped edges are also referred to as  crenated tongue, wavy tongue, pie crust tongue, and lingua indentata. Aside from the wavy surface on the tongue's borders, there is pain, tenderness, and a slight redness on the tongue.
Such tongue indentations indicate a variety of congenital and systemic disorders. Continue reading .
Tumblr media
What makes your tongue appear indented (or) scalloped?
Scallop tongue is most commonly seen in people who have parafunctional habits such as pressing the tongue against teeth, sucking cheeks, and others that cause long-term oral complications. Similarly, tongue inflammation is most likely related to this problem.
Birth defects
You might be aware that some genetically inherited conditions cause inflammation in your tongue. They are also responsible for the wavy tongue edges. The important congenital disorders to emphasise include:
Apert syndrome.
Congenital Hypothyroidism.
Down Syndrome
TMJ Disorder
Nutritional Deficiencies
If your body lacks any of the following mineral compounds, you are more likely to develop scalloped edges on your tongue.
Iron
Vitamin-12
Niacin
Riboflavin
Sleep Disorders
Sleep disorders, also known as obstructive sleep apnea, occur when the airways become blocked, causing breathing interruptions while sleeping.it causes people to rub their tongues against their teeth while sleeping, resulting in tongue scalloping.
Lack of thyroid hormones
If a person's thyroid glands are not functioning properly, the body will not receive enough thyroid hormones. Hypothyroidism is the clinical term for this condition. It alters the body's metabolic rate and causes issues such as tongue inflammation, crenated tongue, obesity, low blood pressure, and so on.
Other inflammatory conditions
Systemic diseases and allergic conditions, like hypothyroidism and certain hereditary disorders, are thought to cause swollen tongues and tongue indentations. Below are a few of them.
Amyloidosis
Angioedema
Tuberculosis
Lipoid proteinosis
Multiple myeloma
Neurofibromatosis
Sarcoidosis
Certain types of cancer
What are the treatment options available to get rid of scalloped tongue?
Proper diagnosis identifies the underlying medical condition, allowing for the development of appropriate treatment plans.
For example, if thyroid hormone deficiency is the primary cause of tongue scalloping, the patient should receive thyroid hormone replacement therapy. They have the ability to reverse the negative effects of Hypothyroidism, such as scallop tongue.
If birth defects, inflammatory or infiltrative medical conditions cause a tongue to appear ruffled or indented, surgical procedures may be required to change the tongue shape and size.
It implies that treating the underlying conditions that cause tongue scalloping can help eliminate riddled or wavy tongue edges. The most likely medical treatments for scalloped tongue are:
Anti-inflammatory medications
Immunosuppressants
Nasal dilators
Sleep apnea treatments like CPAP machine
Stress management
Mouthguards
Bite Splints

"Oh?" An eyebrow quirks out of curiosity, situating the books under her arms to prop them in a better position. While her questioning may have been sudden, Edelgard cannot help but be pleased she took the initative.
There always is benefit in being the first to take a step forward, she has learned.
Tumblr media
Before anything else, she replies promptly: "I've taken it upon myself to read as many strategy books as possible." She places the stack of books on the nearest table, grabbing one and opening it to its table of contents. "For instance, this one explains the value of varying terrains. Mountains, forests.. It's important to be able to adapt no matter the situation." Granted, Edelgard is well-aware its contents may not intrigue everyone here. Nonetheless, it does to her.
She is always looking for the path to victory. The way to see her path through. As such, she must absorb it all and take it with her.
Still, she finds herself intrigued by his encyclopedia. She can't claim to have read anything like that in her time here. Edelgard does not believe in fate, but she is certain the move she has made was correct. "Tell me more about it, if you don't mind. What have you discovered? Amyloidosis.." The word falls off her tongue, apparent she knows little of it.
The library here was huge. He had thought the three story building just a quick walk away from his shitty apartment back home was impressive - but this took the cake. Even if a good number of the books seemed like they were illegible from the wear and tear of age and a language he didn't understand; there were just as many he could read.
Well. Not really, but still! The number of medical textbooks he managed to stack up by himself was pretty impressive either way. Most of them were things he knew already, but who knew if this world had different answers to problems that had yet to be solved back home?
Tumblr media
His attention was drawn from the book in his hands, though, when someone approached him and spoke up. Rarely were people interested in talking about the things he read, whether it be the topic or the size of the books that intimated them, but...he wouldn't pass up the chance to discuss things he was interested in.
"It's an encyclopedia of genetic disorders. One of the ones in the set, anyways. I was just reading about Amyloidosis."
A quick glance-over at the woman shows that she, too, was carrying books around...so it was only polite to ask-
"How about you? Looks like you've got a whole collection there."

ALS and Agent Orange awareness post
Note: I have dyslexia so if I write ASL anywhere in this post I actually meant ALS
What is ALS?
ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. It is a disease that causes progressive deterioration of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of control in muscle movement.
The leading cause of death from those with ALS is respiratory failure, and other common causes of death are pneumonia and malnutrition.
The causes of ALS are heredity, age, genetics, smoking, Environmental toxin exposure, military service, and the chemical Agent Orange.
The first signs of ALS are muscle twitches, weakness in a limb, and/or slurred speech.
ALS eventually affects control of the muscles needed to move, speak, eat, and breathe.
~ Symptoms ~
Difficulty walking or doing normal daily activities
Tripping and falling
Weakness in your leg, feet or ankles
Hand weakness or clumsiness
Slurred speech or trouble swallowing
Muscle cramps and twitching in your arms, shoulders and tongue
Inappropriate crying, laughing or yawning
Cognitive and behavioral changes
There is no cure, and medications do not reverse the damage done by ALS, but can slow the progression of the disease.
Agent Orange
Agent Orange was a chemical used by the U.S military in the vietnam war as a tactical way to kill vegetation. It was named by the orange band around the storage barrel.
~Other Veteran Diseases associated with Agent Orange~
AL Amyloidosis
A rare disease caused when an abnormal protein, amyloid, enters tissues or organs
Chronic B-cell Leukemias
A type of cancer which affects white blood cells
Chloracne (or similar acneform disease)
A skin condition that occurs soon after exposure to chemicals and looks like common forms of acne seen in teenagers. Under VA's rating regulations, it must be at least 10 percent disabling within one year of exposure to herbicides.
Diabetes Mellitus Type 2
A disease characterized by high blood sugar levels resulting from the body’s inability to respond properly to the hormone insulin
Hodgkin's Disease
A malignant lymphoma (cancer) characterized by progressive enlargement of the lymph nodes, liver, and spleen, and by progressive anemia
Ischemic Heart Disease
A disease characterized by a reduced supply of blood to the heart, that leads to chest pain
Multiple Myeloma
A cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell in bone marrow
Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
A group of cancers that affect the lymph glands and other lymphatic tissue
Parkinson's Disease
A progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects muscle movement
Peripheral Neuropathy, Early-Onset
A nervous system condition that causes numbness, tingling, and motor weakness. Under VA's rating regulations, it must be at least 10 percent disabling within one year of herbicide exposure.
Porphyria Cutanea Tarda
A disorder characterized by liver dysfunction and by thinning and blistering of the skin in sun-exposed areas. Under VA's rating regulations, it must be at least 10 percent disabling within one year of exposure to herbicides.
Prostate Cancer
Cancer of the prostate; one of the most common cancers among men
Respiratory Cancers (includes lung cancer)
Cancers of the lung, larynx, trachea, and bronchus
Soft Tissue Sarcomas (other than osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, Kaposi's sarcoma, or mesothelioma)
A group of different types of cancers in body tissues such as muscle, fat, blood and lymph vessels, and connective tissues
Why am I posting about this?
Well, my grandfather sadly passed last night, and he was a vietnam war veteran. He suffered from ALS and was exposed to Agent Orange, and I felt the need to make this awareness post in honor of him and what he's been through.
If I didn't tag any triggers please let me know and I'll add those tags

DR. R. HADLEY,
I hope this letter finds you well. House, if you’re reading this… Hello.
I saw you today in that tight turtleneck and it only makes me wonder why on a hot day like today you would choose a sweater of all things. Is it the bruises on your neck? Does it make you hot thinking about the way how you cried out my name, begging me to to never stop? Are you remembering them now Doctor Hadley? Are you hot? Are you turned on? Good. Because I’d love to just touch you, to worship you, to mark you as mine, to hear my name roll off your tongue as if that is the only thing you could remember.
I’d tell you how I’d ravish you but, well, House is probably still reading.
So. Hello House. I hope you are well.
Anyways, I’ll see you later.
Sincerely,
A.

lupine publishers|Partial Glossectomy for Treatment of Macroglossia Secondary to Myeloma-Associated Amyloidosis: A Case Report
Partial Glossectomy for Treatment of Macroglossia Secondary to Myeloma-Associated Amyloidosis: A Case Report
Tumblr media
Abstract Around 10-15% of patients with multiple myeloma develop amyloidosis due to the extracellular deposition of light-chain amyloid molecules. When this deposition occurs in the tongue, patients may exhibit macroglossia. The sequelae of this macroglossia can include dysphagia and gagging, tooth displacement, and airway compromise. This article presents the case of a 43-year-old African American female who was treated with a partial glossectomy secondary to amyloidosis related multiple myeloma.
Introduction Macroglossia is the abnormal enlargement of the tongue with significant disproportionate appearance to other structures in the mouth. Macroglossia may be categorized as either primary (i.e., muscular enlargement) or secondary. Secondary macroglossia is related to, or associated with, neoplastic processes, metabolic or endocrine disorders, or syndromic conditions [1-4]. Examples of underlying disease processes causing secondary macroglossia are vascular malformations (such as hemangioma or lymphangioma) and myxedema due to hypothyroidism [1,3]. Macroglossia can also occur secondary to amyloidosis [5]. The intent of this article is to report on the case of a 43-year-old female who presented with enlarged, firm, and scalloped tongue secondary to amyloidosis related to multiple myeloma. Case Description A 43-year-old African American female presented to the Augusta University Medical Center due to dysphagia and gagging. She had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma one month earlier at an outside hospital. At that time, she noted weight loss of 40 pounds over the previous four months. Computed tomography (CT) scan showed lytic lesions of the spine, ribs, and sternum. Myeloma workup was performed, and patient was diagnosed with Revised International Staging System (R-ISS) stage 2 multiple myeloma. She was discharged to home in stable condition. The patient’s treatment plan was to receive Velcade, Revlimid, and dexamethasone (VRD) therapy, which she started shortly thereafter. Upon presentation at the Augusta University Medical Center, the Otolaryngology service was consulted regarding her complaint of dysphagia and gagging, which she had been experiencing in the months leading up to her diagnosis of multiple myeloma. Otolaryngology performed a transnasal flexible laryngoscopy that showed no structural abnormalities of the base of tongue or supraglottic structures. Gastroenterology was consulted and performed an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), which only showed moderate to severe antral gastritis. Additionally, a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) was performed during that procedure to ensure the patient received proper nutritional intake, as her ability to tolerate food by mouth was impaired secondary to the dysphagia and gagging. The patient also had a modified barium swallow study, and no aspiration or penetration was observed. The only potential etiology of the dysphagia and gagging noted was an enlarged tongue. The oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) service was
consulted to determine if surgical management of the macroglossia was appropriate. Intraoral examination showed macroglossia with scalloping in the anterior and lateral borders of the tongue (Figure 1). Amyloidosis of the tongue secondary to multiple myeloma was suspected. The patient had previously had bone marrow aspirate and abdominal fat pad biopsy that were both negative for amyloidosis. OMS performed a partial glossectomy via keyhole technique with submission of excised tissue in 10% buffered formalin for pathological examination, which confirmed amyloidosis. Following the procedure, the patient remained intubated in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU). She was extubated on post-operative day #2 without the need for tracheostomy.
The patient had post-operative edema of the tongue, and thus still had dysphagia after surgery; however, this resolved over the next few months, and her dysphagia had significantly improved compared to her pre-operative state. Revlimid was discontinued prior to surgery to mitigate risks of complications with healing. In place of VRD therapy, she was switched to cyclophosphamide, bortezomib and dexamethasone (CyBorD) therapy shortly after surgery. A cardiac MRI was subsequently performed and did not show signs of cardiac involvement of amyloidosis. The patient’s PEG tube was removed five months after partial glossectomy after she demonstrated the ability to swallow solid foods by mouth. One year after surgery, she stated that her swallowing had significantly improved prior to the partial glossectomy. She did note some alterations in taste and intermittent lingual paresthesia, but these were not major complaints. Her oncologist noted very good response to CyBorD therapy, and the patient underwent an autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplant 13 months after her partial glossectomy. Pathologic Findings Microscopic examination of formalin-fixed paraffin- embedded 5μ thick sections revealed tongue mucosa covered by parakeratinized squamous mucosa which supports subepithelial diffuse amorphous eosinophilic deposits. The amorphous deposits were markedly eosinophilic, largely acellular and afibrillar. The material deposition is noted in the superficial and deep lamina propria and in perivascular and intramuscular areas (Figure 2A). Sections stained with Congo red showed positive reddish deposits with the stain confirming the diagnosis of amyloid deposition (Figure 2B). The Congo red-stained deposits demonstrated characteristic apple-green birefringence when viewed under polarized light.
Discussion Macroglossia can arise from many different etiologies, including amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is a group of diseases that share the feature of the deposition of an extracellular proteinaceous substance referred to as amyloid [6]. Approximately 39% of patients with amyloidosis exhibit oral manifestations, with the tongue being the most common site [7,8]. There are multiple classification systems for amyloidosis. Broadly, amyloidosis can be categorized as either localized or systemic [8]. The systemic type can be classified at least into primary, secondary, and hereditary, with some authors suggesting additional categories, such as for cases associated with multiple myeloma [8]. Other authors group amyloidosis associated with multiple myeloma into the primary or secondary categories [9-11]. Multiple myeloma is a monoclonal, multicentric neoplastic proliferation of bone marrow-based B lymphocytes which differentiate into plasma cells [12]. Myeloma cells produce various proteins, most frequently M protein in the form of IgG (60%), followed by IgA (20%-25%); only rarely are IgM, IgD, or IgE M protein observed. In few other cases, myeloma cells produce only κ or λ light chains. These light chains are small and can be excreted in urine where they are referred to as Bence-Jones proteins. Males, African Americans, and adults between 60 and 70 years of age are most affected by this condition [9]. The malignancy results in an uncontrolled proliferation of atypical and nonfunctional immunoglobulins [13]. The solitary plasmacytoma is also a monoclonal neoplastic proliferation of plasma cells, but unlike multiple myeloma, only a single mass is present. Plasmacytomas can arise either in bone or in soft tissues. Most patients with plasmacytoma of bone will ultimately develop multiple myeloma when observed on a long-term basis [9,14]. Clinically, patients with multiple myeloma present with bone pain, anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, metastatic calcifications, renal failure, and Bence-Jones proteins in urine [15]. These patients are more susceptible to infections due to the reduced number of functional immunoglobulins and leukopenia. If there is maxillofacial involvement, osteolytic “punched out” radiolucent lesions may be seen on radiographs affecting the jaw bones. Tumor- like yellowish nodules may be found in the oral mucosa. Salivary glands may also be affected [16]. In about 10-15% of patients with multiple myeloma, the accumulation of the abnormal light chain proteins results in amyloidosis in the oral mucosa, and may present as macroglossia [9,16]. The reported prevalence of amyloidosis- associated macroglossia secondary to multiple myeloma varies, but it has been suggested to be up to 40% [9,17]. Macroglossia from this condition can become severe enough to splay teeth, affect speech and swallowing, and cause airway obstruction, sometime necessitating a tracheostomy [11]. Medical history, clinical findings, biopsy, and histological exam of amyloid lesions are all key components of determining the underlying cause of macroglossia and best treatment plan. While this condition leads to both functional and cosmetic problems for patients, there are no formal guidelines for the treatment of macroglossia secondary to amyloidosis [18,19]. In this case, a partial glossectomy was performed and tissue was submitted to confirm the macroglossia was a complication of amyloidosis associated with multiple myeloma. The patient had improvement of her symptoms starting around 5 months after surgery, and the improvement was sustained through one year after surgery. This case, as well as others presented in the literature, document successful surgical intervention for macroglossia associated with amyloidosis and its complications [18]. However, it must be noted that macroglossia is likely to recur if the systemic disease process leading to amyloid deposition is not medically controlled. Thus, it is necessary to judge each case based on multiple criteria, including the severity of symptoms (airway compromise, nutritional compromise) and
likely of recurrence (i.e., whether medical management can suppress further deposition of amyloid). The major shortcoming of this report is the lack of volumetric data prior to, and after, surgery. This would have given an objective measure of the amount of reduction achieved through the partial glossectomy, as well as the volumetric stability of the tongue over time. Nonetheless, the patient’s improvement i

Amyloidosis - Epidemiology Forecast to 2029
Amyloidosis – Epidemiology Forecast to 2029
Summary
Amyloidosis is a rare disease characterized by extracellular and/or intracellular deposition of insoluble abnormal amyloid fibrils that alters the normal functions of the tissues in the organs (Holmes et al., 2019; Mayo Clinic, 2020). Amyloid is not normally found in the body, but it can be formed from several different types of protein and interferes with the organs’ normal function. Organs that may be affected by amyloidosis include the heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, nervous system, and digestive tract (Mayo Clinic, 2020).
The signs and symptoms of amyloidosis include dizziness, fluid retention, fatigue, fainting, an enlarged tongue, low blood pressure, and shortness of breath (Mayo Clinic, 2020; Stanford Health Care, 2020). There are different types of amyloidosis, such as immunoglobulin light chain (AL) amyloidosis (referred to as primary amyloidosis), hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTRh/m) (referred to as hereditary or familial amyloidosis), wild-type transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR-wt), AA amyloidosis (referred to as secondary amyloidosis), and localized amyloidosis (National Organization for Rare Disorders, 2020; Stanford Health Care, 2020).
In 2019, the 7MM had 10,575 diagnosed incident cases of AL amyloidosis in men and women combined for all ages. The US accounted for the majority of these cases with 4,386 diagnosed incident cases, while the UK accounted for the fewest cases with 468 cases in 2019. GlobalData epidemiologists forecast an increase in the diagnosed incident cases of AL amyloidosis to 12,265 cases in 2029 in the 7MM at an Annual Growth Rate (AGR) of 1.60% during the forecast period. GlobalData epidemiologists forecast an increase in the diagnosed incident cases of AL amyloidosis to 16,876 cases in 2029 in the 7MM at an Annual Growth Rate (AGR) of 1.41% during the forecast period. In 2019, there were 75,033 diagnosed prevalent cases of AL amyloidosis in men and women combined, for all ages, in the 7MM. The US accounted for the majority of these cases with 23,350 cases, while Spain accounted for the fewest cases with 5,428 cases in 2019.

Interview of Deborah Slappey Pitts, Author of "I Feel Okay"
Peruser Views is upbeat to have with us Deborah Slappey Pitts. Deborah's works of short stories, exposition, and verse traverse somewhere in the range of 35 years. Welcome!
Irene: Your book "I Feel Okay" is tied in with looking for a fix an ailment that very few individuals have known about. It would be ideal if you inform us concerning the ailment.
Deborah: Primary amyloidosis (AL) is an uncommon ailment of the invulnerable framework that influences about eight individuals of a million yearly. The sickness isn't disease, yet the impacts on the real organs of the body can be similarly as fatal as growth. Amyloidosis is an anomalous protein that is stored into any of the body's tissues or organs by method for the circulatory system. The malady comes about when enough amyloid protein collects in the tissues or organs in the body to make the tissue or organ glitch.
The aggregated amyloid protein causes the dynamic breakdown of the influenced organ. The heart, kidneys, sensory system, stomach, and liver are regularly influenced. For Clyde's situation, the amassed amyloid protein made his heart breakdown, so he passed out.
It is intriguing to take note of that essential amyloidosis (AL) has a few attributes of a platelet issue and once in a while exists together with numerous myeloma. Various myeloma is a disease of the plasma cells in the bone marrow. At in the first place, the specialists initially believed that Clyde had numerous myeloma.
Irene: You took a tremendous mission to discover more data from a medicinal network that couldn't speak with you in regards to your significant other's malady essential amyloidosis. Disclose to us what motivated you to compose a book of your experience.
Deborah: From the specific start, after Clyde's passing, I needed to recount his story so others would be instructed about the staggering impacts of essential amyloidosis (AL), however I didn't have the quality to discuss our family's catastrophe. As well as could be expected do then was to make a site in 1996 about essential amyloidosis and I trusted others would read about Clyde's story and essential amyloidosis, from an individual point of view. It took me nine years to at long last disclose to Clyde's story in I Feel Okay since I needed my children (Clyde Daryl and Alex Keith) to realize what happened and to leave them an inheritance of their dad.
I additionally composed the book since I wanted to teach the general population about the staggering impacts of the ailment so others would find out about the malady and to keep away from another disaster. I'm grateful to state that Clyde's story has helped other individuals who are at present determined to have essential amyloidosis (AL).
Irene: It doesn't appear that you had much help from the restorative network on the loose. Have you lost confidence in it?
Deborah: I would had sought after more help amid Clyde's underlying determination of the malady, and amid the early long periods of living without Clyde, I was exceptionally baffled with a portion of the specialists who treated him. In any case, I should state that the help and understanding that we got at The Mayo Clinic was total fortune! I won't ever overlook the adoration and liberality that was straightforward according to Clyde's doctors and medical caretakers as guardians.
Furthermore, no, I haven't lost my confidence in the therapeutic network. I have an enormous regard for the people who work in the social insurance calling consistently. Presently, I'm more perceptive of taking "charge" of my social insurance by making inquiries of the medicinal services experts about elective answers for the suggestive method of treatment. I have faith in getting to sites, for example, WebMD as a wellspring of data. This has been extremely useful to me and my family.
Irene: I comprehend that essential amyloidosis can be made do with drugs. What amount of sensibility is there with meds?
Deborah: Currently, there is no solution for essential amyloidosis (AL). In any case, essential amyloidosis (AL) can be made do with drugs. The unusual amyloid protein that works in the bone marrow can be impeded or even halted, in the event that it is analyzed effectively and so as to stop the monstrous develop of protein fibrils.
At present, specialists are treating patients with essential amyloidosis (AL) with a regimen of chemotherapy treatments to incorporate melphalan and colchicine to react to the strange plasma cells. Furthermore, doctors will likewise consider bone marrow transplantation to bring sound cells into the patient. Bone marrow transplantation includes utilizing high-measurement chemotherapy and transfusion of beforehand gathered youthful or fresh recruits cells (foundational microorganisms) to supplant the unhealthy or harmed marrow. These cells might be collected from the patient's or from a giver.
There are examples of overcoming adversity in the treatment of essential amyloidosis. I am aware of a man who has survived over 18 years with the sickness. Once more, the key is to be analyzed so as to moderate or stop the monstrous develop of the protein fibrils in the body.
Irene: You specify being analyzed early. What are a portion of the signs that point toward essential amyloidosis?
Deborah: If analyzed early, essential amyloidosis (AL) can be moderated and now and then even halted in its creation. I was exceptionally heart broken when I initially took in this reality. I trust that things would have turned out contrastingly if Clyde would have been analyzed in time.
Manifestations of essential amyloidosis (AL) are basically predictable with different sicknesses. While thinking about the analysis, a doctor should consider the side effects of essential amyloidosis (AL) in totality, not independently. Amid my broad research, I found the accompanying manifestations for the illness: Swelling of the lower legs and legs, general shortcoming of the limits, weight reduction, shortness of breath, deadness or shivering in the hands or feet (This side effect can be related with carpel burrow disorder.), the runs, extreme exhaustion, amplified tongue, feeling of totality in the wake of eating littler measures of sustenance than common, lastly, wooziness after standing.
It ought to be noticed that amyloidosis can be analyzed just by positive recognizable proof utilizing an uncommon Congo Red stain on an example of the amyloid fibrils. The typical demonstrative arrangements in a research center won't yield a right conclusion of the amyloid ailment.
Irene: The sickness is hopeless. Is there examine going on right now for a fix?
Deborah: Yes, as I said prior, there is no remedy for the malady, yet solutions and treatments are accessible to moderate or stop the movement of the development of the amyloid proteins in the body. At present, The Mayo Clinic and Boston Medical Hospitals are the main healing centers in research of the amyloid sicknesses. All through the most recent 10 years, these two healing centers and others have proceeded with investigate for new meds and treatments to battle essential amyloidosis (AL) and other amyloid sicknesses.
Irene: You property a great deal of your quality and mettle to your confidence in God. Kindly tell your perusing crowd how you by and by could surrender your will to God and take a stab at keeping the excursion in His grasp.
Deborah: God has guided the Slappey family through numerous difficulties. Also, when we were looked with this exceptionally uncommon sickness, an illness that we didn't know how to spell or articulate at to start with, I normally swung to our Heavenly Father to direct us through this substantial tempest in our lives. Nothing can be included or subtracted from God's assertion. He says in Proverbs 3:5-6, to trust in His statement and not to depend without anyone else understanding, and to recognize Him to coordinate our ways. Also, we did.
Clyde and I realized that this malady was greater than the two of us; we needed to depend on God's constant hands to help us through this horrendous tempest in our lives. God is all knowing and all observing, and we were eager to surrender all to him since we didn't include anything inside ourselves to change the truth that Clyde was enduring with this dangerous infection. I additionally realized that in the event that it was God's will to fix Clyde, he would be restored. I had finish trust in God and I surrendered to His will.
Irene: Sometimes it is difficult to trust and have confidence in an option that is more prominent than ourselves. What process did you experience to surrender your will to God?
Deborah: I'm an individual from the Church of Christ, and I attempt with the best of my capacities to make the wisest decision in God locate. I miss the mark, however I do make a decent attempt. I took in quite a while back that there are a few things I can't change, regardless of what I do. I realized that this sickness was substantially greater than Clyde and considerably greater than me. I realized that I couldn't change the circumstance that was spread out before the Slappey family, so Clyde and I simply did what we knew: we supplicated. Also, we implored and asked; requesting that God give us the quality to manage our family circumstance.
There were commonly when my confidence was shaken amid Clyde's experience, however God dependably fortify me to continue moving and clutching His constant Hand. What's more, he did. I realized that God was conveying me in those dim days when the doctor would stroll into the room and clarify Clyde's visualization. Commonly, I needed to flee and stow away, however I continued asking since I realized that on the off chance that it was God's will to convey Clyde from this bad dream, He would. I realized that God was in charge and nothing would be included or taken away, except if He permitted it.
Miserable and deplorable things happened to all individuals and on November 12, 1994 (the beginning of Clyde's power outages), it happened to the Slappey family. I don't need anybody to ever need to encounter the torment and enduring that we did with the amyloid ailment, and this is the reason I'm so energetic and devoted to teaching people in general about the staggering impacts of this ailment.
Irene: It was clear to you and your family that your significant other would not recuperate from this ailment. What process that you experience to acknowledge this reality?
Deborah: despite what might be expected, we didn't acknowledge the way that Clyde wouldn't recuperate. I realized that as long as Clyde was alive, there was trust. My expectation and supplication was that on the off chance that it was God's will to fix Clyde, he would, and that is the reason we continued searching for somebody to encourage Clyde, starting in Columbus, Georg

18 F-florbetaben whole-body PET/MRI for evaluation of systemic amyloid deposition
Abstract
Background
Florbetaben, a 18F-labeled stilbene derivative (Neuraceq®, formerly known as BAY-949172), is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical developed to visualize β-amyloid plaques in the brain. Here, we report a pilot study evaluating patients with suspected cardiac amyloidosis for systemic extent of disease.
Methods
We prospectively enrolled nine patients, 61–86 year old (mean ± SD 69.4 ± 8.6), referred from the cardiac amyloid clinic. First, dynamic imaging of the heart was acquired immediately after injection of 222–318.2 MBq (mean ± SD 270.1 ± 33.3) of 18F-florbetaben using the GE SIGNA PET/MRI. This was followed by a whole-body PET/MRI scan 60–146.4 min (mean ± SD 98 ± 33.4) after injection. Cardiac MRI sequences included ECG-triggered cine SSFP, T2-weighted, and late gadolinium-enhanced imaging. Whole-body MRI sequences included MRAC and axial T1-weighted imaging.
Results
High early uptake and delayed high uptake in the left ventricle correlated with amyloid deposition in five patients, while low uptake on early and delayed cardiac imaging was noted in four patients. Cardiac function measurements were successfully obtained in all participants. Areas of increased abnormal 18F-florbetaben accumulation were noted on delayed whole-body imaging in the bone marrow (seven patients), stomach (diffuse in five patients and focal in one patient), brain (five patients), salivary glands (three patients), tongue (three patients), spleen (three patients), skeletal muscles (three patients), ocular muscles (two patients), thyroid (two patients), pleura (two patients), kidneys (two patients), and lungs (two patients).
Conclusions
Whole-body 18F-florbetaben PET/MRI is promising for localization of systemic amyloid deposition. This technique may provide important structural and functional information regarding the organs involved by disease, with potential to guide biopsy and evaluate response to treatment.
Trial registration
Clinicaltrials.gov registration: NCT03119558.
