okay, yeah, I definitely failed a few spot checks there 😓😓😓
I did not notice the landscape at all apart from some of the blues and purples in the underground; I was way more interested in the nightmare angel (sentinel?? it's got cool little needles that don't look quite like Sus's birds but are about the same size and general aesthetic (small and swoopy and organic-metal), but its wings also have butterfly and bat parts mixed in with the feathers) and the spliced dragons (which are noticeably different from any of the other breakbeasts, presumably because a human made them, but which I'm pretty sure use the amphicynodon skeleton given some of their pounce animations). I'm always a slut for creature design-
I also did NOT notice the birds on the tattoo, although my first thought when Aldacor said "vessel" was OHO??👀 even though he's not that kind of demon. That it took you until the second time through to notice makes me feel a lot better though 😅 Recontextualizing it as it was never really an invasion also does actually help a lot, so thank you! .............and they did goddamn mention that the magic looks different specifically without the Tantas’ magic on top of it, didn't they...
(In my defense, the Writings of A Rheddig Soldier do describe physical parts that at least look unified enough to be reassembled into something; I wasn't assuming that he told them how to do any of it, but I did figure he'd at least know what had happened and/or that they were doing it.)
I guess I'll just have to replay it and actually go slowly this time, WHAT a TRAGEDY [/sarcasm]. I think probably the real takeaway from all of this is "don't charge headlong through the entire dlc at 2am because you feel guilty for having taken so long to get to it".
...man, though. I finished my first playthrough thinking of him as a more traditional demon that was just as much a slave/prisoner of Rheddah as of Athia, but then round 2 he was so openly fond of them that I thought he must be their willing ally after all, but...I was closer to right the first time. Demons aren't typically given a lot of free will in the first place and he somehow has even less than that 😭 Is it bad that that makes me more attached to my assignment of Freedom to Frey, or-
.......... actually wait that in fact not only answers very little, it directly contradicts your own lore
