Zootopia (2016) is also romance free! I suppose everyone already knows that it's a lovely story with not-so-subtle socio-political themes about a bunny with big dreams. 5/5 imo. Judy and Nick grow very close during the movie and it's a beautiful male-female platonic relationship. If you interpret them as lovers, it seems pretty demi from an arospec perspective. I headcanon them as qpps!

For Aro Movies, I'm recommending Night at the Museum 1 & 3 as aro-friendly. They both have some background romances but the main focus is on the friendships between the characters and the goofy shenanigans they get up to. 3/5 stars for both of them.

I was surprised to find that The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018) is pretty aro-friendly. The film completely avoids the cliche of making the two single characters start a relationship by the end of the film by making it clear their deep friendship is entirely platonic. Aside from that, the only romance is that the villains are a married couple. 4/5 stars

Honestly, I find the Hunger Games trilogy to be very aro-positive, because the main "romance" in the series is a deconstruction of fake celebrity romances and is honestly closer to a queerplatonic bond between two people who have been through very similar trauma. Also, Katniss is an aro icon just saying

And because it's been awhile since you've had an aro negative film, I'm submitting Night at the Museum 2 as aro negative. While it's actually my favorite film in the series due to how silly and creative it gets, it has this frustrating running gag where every time the two lead characters are in the same scene together, people will comment on what a cute romantic couple they are (despite them only knowing each other for less than a day). Like people can't be friends w/o it also being a romance :/

Awesome! In that case, I'd like to recommend Aquamarine (2006) for the aro-friendly list, if it's not already on there!

The Care Bears Series (80′s)
@starstruckpurpledragon submitted:
For Aro Movies Monday, I offer up four classic Care Bears movies from the 80s. I’ve been going through some of my favorite childhood movies to hopefully share some of them with my nephew, so these are all very kid friendly movies.
The Care Bears Movie, 1985 I don’t remember any romance in this one 4 stars A lonely magician’s assistant falls under the influence of an evil spirit while two siblings find their faith in others hitting an all time low. But the Care Bears are here to help defeat the evil spirit and help the three children to learn the true power of friendship.

Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, 1986 Also don’t remember any romance in this one, just strong platonic bonds 5 stars A re-imagining of the origins of the Care Bears and Care Cousins. Fleeing from an evil spirit known as Dark Heart, the surviving Care Bears stumble across Care-a-lot and settle there. Meanwhile Dark Heart invades a children’s camp and strikes a deal with a girl named Kristy, whose friends have become involved with the Care Bears. But his interactions with Kristy begin to change Dark Heart and when her life is put in danger by Dark Heart’s actions, their unexpected friendship winds up saving everyone.

The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland, 1987 No romance here either 5 stars Alice in Wonderland and Care Bears fusion. When the Princess of Wonderland goes missing, the White Rabbit contacts his cousin, Swiftheart Rabbit, to help him locate a girl who looks just like the missing princess: Alice. Alice isn’t confident she’ll truly be able to help, but she agrees to pretend to be the Princess to stall the evil Vizier while the Care Bears seek out the real princess of Wonderland.

Care Bears: The Nutcracker, 1988 This one does have some romance in it, more like mutual attraction and an implied future relationship, and it’s not important to the plot 3 stars Nutcracker and Care Bears fusion. Toyland has been overrun by evil rats and the Prince has gone mysteriously missing. Clara, her brother, and the Care Bears join the amnesiac Nutcracker to retake Toyland and defeat the invaders in time for Christmas.

For amm: Finding Nemo (2003) and Finding Dory (2016) are romance free as far as I can remember, unless you count Dory's parents. They mainly focus on friendships and family love. I personally headcanon that Dory is aromantic and has an alterous thing for Marlin.

This might be a bit of a stretch but I always found The Graduate (1967) to be a bit relatable as a lithromantic aro. It's all about a guy who feels very disassociated from other romantic couples around him. Even when he does find someone who he feels romantic attraction to, the ending implies that attraction will soon fade. 2/5 as an aro-friendly film (but 5/5 as a film in general)

Hey, I'd like to submit a movie for AMM. It's a German movie called "Vincent will meer", released in 2010. It contains a romance between two of the main protagonists but the movie has the message that romantic love doesn't solve everything and it becomes clear that their relationship is unhealthy. The movie also deals with friendship, (dysfunctional) families, grief, ableism and anorexia, tourette-syndrom and OCD. I'd give it 4/5 stars.

Note
If someone was looking for aro-positive adult films, can I recommend Tangerine (2015) as aro-friendly? While there is a romance that runs through the story (one of the lead protagonist's goals is to get back with her boyfriend and get revenge on him for cheating), the most important relationship in the film is ultimately a platonic friendship between two trans women. The film's NC-17 and does include sex, discussions of sex, and the leads have to deal with transphobia.

Doctor Who (1963) for AMM! The Doctor's always been somewhat aroace-coded since the '60s and I know this show helped me out a lot with figuring out my own arospec identity. In terms of lack of romance, I'd give the Classic series a 5/5 and anything from 2005 onwards a 3/5. And even with the addition of romance in the newer series, it still feels like how someone on the aromantic spectrum might experience romance and it never completely takes over the plot.
