On this day, October 11, the world celebrates the birthday of a man who needs no introduction – #AmitabhBachchan. Born as Amitabh Shrivastav in 1942, he’s more than just a Bollywood legend; he’s a force that has shaped Indian cinema for over five decades.
Hailing from Allahabad (now Prayagraj), the son of the celebrated poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and social activist Teji Bachchan, Amitabh’s journey was destined for greatness. After studying in Sherwood College, Nainital, and Kirori Mal College in Delhi, he began his career in 1969 with a voiceover in Bhuvan Shome. Little did anyone know that this voice would soon become one of the most iconic in Indian cinema.
By the 1970s, with films like Anand, Zanjeer, and Sholay, he became the face of the "angry young man" of India. From there, the list of legendary movies only grew—Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, Shakti—each performance cementing his title as the "Shahenshah of Bollywood." His cinematic reign in the ‘70s and ‘80s was so commanding that French filmmaker François Truffaut once referred to him as a "one-man industry."
But Amitabh’s story isn’t one of easy triumphs. After a brief break in the 1990s, he made a stellar comeback in the 2000s with roles in Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Piku, for which he won his record fourth National Film Award for Best Actor. His international appeal also soared with appearances in films like The Great Gatsby (2013).
His list of accolades is as long as his filmography—four National Film Awards, sixteen Filmfare Awards, and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The Indian government has honored him with the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan. Even France bestowed upon him its highest civilian award, the Knight of the Legion of Honour.
Not just an actor, Amitabh has dabbled in politics, produced films, sung playback, and hosted numerous seasons of Kaun Banega Crorepati, India’s beloved quiz show. His impact goes far beyond Indian shores, with fans across Africa, the Middle East, and the UK. In 1999, a BBC poll named him the "greatest star of stage or screen," and TIME magazine dubbed him the "Star of the Millennium."
As we wish the Shahenshah a very happy birthday today, let’s take a moment to reflect on his incredible journey. What are your favorite Amitabh Bachchan movies?

Famous Cricketers and Bollywood Actors Following Astrology or Numerology and Wearing Stones
Astrology and numerology have long fascinated people across the world, particularly in India, where many famous personalities—especially in the realms of cricket and Bollywood—follow these ancient practices. From career decisions to personal lives, many cricketers and Bollywood stars believe that astrology and numerology can bring them success, balance, and protection. One of the more tangible aspects of this belief is the wearing of gemstones, each of which is said to align with certain planets and energies.

Available on Play Store and App Store.
Astrology and numerology are deeply intertwined with Indian culture. These practices offer guidance on everything from love and marriage to career growth and health. Many celebrities follow specific astrological charts or lucky numbers, which guide their decision-making. Additionally, gemstones—like emeralds, rubies, and blue sapphires—are worn for their perceived ability to attract positive energies and protect against misfortune.
Let’s take a closer look at some cricketers and Bollywood actors who attribute part of their success to astrology, numerology, and wearing stones.
Famous Cricketers Following Astrology and Wearing Stones
Cricketers are known for their discipline and strategy on the field, but many of them also turn to astrology and numerology for added success. Here are some prominent cricketers who believe in these ancient sciences.
Sachin Tendulkar and His Sapphire Stone
The “Master Blaster” of Indian cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, has been seen wearing a blue sapphire on his right hand. Blue sapphire is associated with the planet Saturn, which is believed to bring discipline, focus, and hard work to those who wear it. Sachin has been known for his calm demeanor and strong willpower, qualities that align well with Saturn’s influence. Many speculate that his rise to becoming one of the greatest cricketers of all time is in part due to his belief in astrology.
MS Dhoni and His Jade Bracelet
Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni is another example of a cricketer who believes in the power of stones. Dhoni has been seen wearing a jade bracelet, which is believed to bring harmony, balance, and luck. Jade is known for its ability to protect against negative energies and attract positive forces. Dhoni’s calmness under pressure, especially during high-stakes matches like the 2011 World Cup final, is often attributed to this stone.
Virat Kohli and His Fascination with Numerology
While Virat Kohli doesn’t overtly talk about his reliance on astrology or numerology, it is well-known that Kohli is deeply influenced by numbers. Numerologists believe that Kohli’s birth number, 5, plays a significant role in his life. This number, ruled by Mercury, represents communication and intelligence—both traits that Kohli exhibits on and off the field. Though he may not wear gemstones as frequently as others, numerology is believed to guide many aspects of his life, including his aggressive playing style and leadership skills.
Bollywood Stars Who Follow Astrology, Numerology, and Wear Gemstones
Just like cricketers, Bollywood actors also rely on astrology and numerology to help shape their careers. In an industry where luck and timing are everything, many stars take guidance from their horoscopes and wear specific stones to harness positive energy.
Amitabh Bachchan and His Blue Sapphire
Amitabh Bachchan, one of the most revered actors in Bollywood, has openly discussed his belief in astrology and gemstones. After facing a series of financial struggles in the early 2000s, Bachchan began wearing a blue sapphire (Neelam) ring, which is associated with the planet Saturn. It is said that this stone helped turn his fortunes around. Soon after, he landed the role of the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, which redefined his career and brought him massive success. Bachchan credits the blue sapphire for restoring his fame and wealth.
Salman Khan and His Feroza Bracelet
Salman Khan is often seen sporting a silver bracelet with a turquoise stone (Feroza). The actor has been wearing this bracelet for decades, and it has become almost synonymous with his personality. Turquoise is believed to protect against evil and negativity, while also enhancing the wearer’s creativity and communication skills. Given Salman’s long-standing career and massive fan base, many believe that his bracelet plays a part in his continued success.
Shah Rukh Khan and the Power of Numbers
Shah Rukh Khan, known as the “King of Bollywood,” has also consulted numerologists for guidance throughout his career. Shah Rukh is believed to be influenced by the number 555, which appears frequently in his life—whether it’s in his phone numbers, car plates, or even the release dates of his films. He credits his belief in lucky numbers with helping him make decisions that have led to blockbuster movies and an enduring career in Bollywood.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Her Emerald Ring
Kareena Kapoor Khan, one of the most iconic actresses in Bollywood, has been seen wearing an emerald ring on several occasions. Emeralds are known for their association with Mercury, the planet of communication, intellect, and quick thinking. Kareena’s sharp wit and strong screen presence could be attributed to the influence of this stone, which is said to enhance creativity and bring prosperity to those who wear it.
The Science Behind Wearing Gemstones
The belief in astrology and numerology goes hand-in-hand with the wearing of gemstones, which are thought to absorb and amplify the energies of specific planets. Each stone is said to correspond to a different planet and its associated traits. For example:
• Blue Sapphire: Associated with Saturn; promotes discipline, focus, and hard work.
• Emerald: Ruled by Mercury; enhances communication, creativity, and intellect.
• Turquoise: Linked to Venus; provides protection against negativity and promotes peace.
• Ruby: Corresponds to the Sun; boosts confidence, leadership, and vitality.
• Yellow Sapphire: Related to Jupiter; attracts wealth, wisdom, and good fortune.
The choice of stone is often based on the individual’s astrological chart, which identifies which planets are most influential in their lives. Gemstones are believed to balance out the negative effects of certain planets while enhancing the positive traits of others.
Why Do Celebrities Turn to Astrology and Numerology?
It’s not surprising that so many cricketers and Bollywood actors turn to astrology, numerology, and gemstones. These fields offer guidance in industries that are notoriously unpredictable. Cricket and Bollywood are high-pressure environments where one’s career can rise or fall with a single performance, making it natural for individuals to seek out every advantage possible. Whether it’s the perceived power of gemstones or the guidance offered by numerology, these practices provide a sense of control and security in a world where success is often fleeting.

Which cricketer is known for wearing a gemstone?
Sachin Tendulkar is known for wearing a blue sapphire, which is associated with Saturn. It is believed that this stone has contributed to his success and calm demeanor.

Conclusion
In the unpredictable worlds of cricket and Bollywood, it’s no wonder that so many famous personalities turn to astrology, numerology, and gemstones for guidance and protection. Whether or not one believes in the power of these practices, their impact on the lives of cricketers and actors is undeniable. From Sachin Tendulkar’s sapphire ring to Salman Khan’s turquoise bracelet, these talismans serve as both a spiritual guide and a symbol of hope for continued success.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf .. and I played Nick , played by George Segal in the film .. he uses this word when he ask the hosts - Burton and Liz during a conversation in their drawing room, “which way to the , err euphemism ‘ ? a polite genteel term asking which way to the washroom ..
the things that remain with you .. quite quite intriguing .. knew the term , had forgotten the name of the play .. !!! 😳
So yes where were we .. aah yes the Sunday without shoes .. or rather without them .. yes yes yes .. they shall be without the next time ..
So .. oh there we are again .. on ‘so’ .. no really .. so I need to go and study my dialogues and lines for the morrow .. for the shoot ..
and there is the traditional ..
नमस्कार 🙏

There is no one like him, or ever will be. Wishing the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan a very Happy Birthday (11/10).
Amitabh Bachchan, born Amitabh Shrivastav on 11 October 1942, is a renowned Indian actor, producer, TV host, singer, and former politician.
With a film career spanning over 50 years, he has appeared in over 200 Hindi films. He's celebrated as one of Indian cinema's most influential figures, earning titles such as the "Shahenshah of Bollywood" and "Star of the Millennium." Born in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) in 1942, Bachchan is the son of the famed Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and social activist Teji Bachchan. He studied at Sherwood College, Nainital, and Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. His cinematic journey began in 1969, narrating for the film Bhuvan Shome. His notable films from the 70s and 80s include Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, and Shakti. After a hiatus in the 1990s, he returned to prominence in the 2000s with films like Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Piku. Throughout his career, Bachchan has received numerous awards, including four National Film Awards for Best Actor and sixteen Filmfare Awards. Recognizing his contribution to the arts, the Indian government awarded him the Padma Shri (1984), Padma Bhushan (2001), Padma Vibhushan (2015), and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2018). France also honored him with its highest civilian award, Knight of the Legion of Honour, in 2007.
Apart from acting, Bachchan has been a playback singer, producer, and TV presenter. He hosted multiple seasons of India's version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" titled "Kaun Banega Crorepati." He briefly entered politics in the 1980s and is recognized for his humanitarian efforts. Beyond India, Bachchan has a significant international following, especially in regions like Africa, the Middle East, and the UK. He was voted the "greatest star of stage or screen" in a 1999 BBC poll and was dubbed the "Star of the Millennium" by TIME magazine in 2003.

[ad_1] Producers Boney Kapoor and Naga Vamsi recently engaged in a war of words over the long-standing debate Bollywood vs South Films. During a recent roundtable interview, Lucky Baskhar's producer argued that South films such as Baahubali and RRR, reshaped Hindi cinema's approach to mass entertainment. This didn't go down well with Kapoor and he disagreed by pointing out the impact of Bollywood across the globe. The Maidaan producer even pointed out that Pushpa 2 actor Allu Arjun, in an interview, shared that he is a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan.Boney Kapoor talked about different markets for specific film industries in Indian cinemaBoney Kapoor appeared at the roundtable interview hosted by Galatta Plus where he, along with other producers, discussed cinema. During which he said, "In Russia, for instance, Raj Kapoor is remembered till today. When I visited Egypt, they would talk only about Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. In Morocco, again, it’s Amitabh Bachchan. The King of Morocco had honoured Amitabh and later Shah Rukh Khan. Telugu films and Tamil films have unique markets. For instance, Telugu films have a unique market in the US, while Tamil films have a strong presence in Singapore and Malaysia. That’s a significant chunk of the overseas business. And the Gulf, of course, is a cosmopolitan area."Adding to this, Naga Vamsi said, "No, the Gulf has a huge market for Malayalam films."Naga Vamsi's big claimsNaga Vamsi added to Kapoor's statement and said that this might sound "harsh" but it was South Indians who changed the way you look at cinema. "This might sound harsh, but we South Indians have changed the way you look at cinema — even for Bollywood." He explained his statement, "Because you guys were stuck in making films for Bandra and Juhu. But now, with films like RRR, Baahubali, Animal, Jawan, etc., these have kind of changed your version. After Mughal-E-Azam, you mentioned films like Baahubali and RRR, which were Telugu films. You never really spoke of a Hindi film’s name after Mughal-E-Azam."(A file photo of Naga Vamsi | Image: Instagram)Boney Kapoor's subtle reply to Naga VamsiOn hearing this, Kapoor explained that he can't discuss every bit of knowledge at this forum and has to speak in broader terms. So, when I mention Mughal-E-Azam, Baahubali, and all, it’s not that I missed out on those films. I’m aware of them. But it’s not as though Telugu films have taught Indian cinema…" However, Vamsi interrupted him by saying, “Not taught, sir. We just rediscovered Hindi cinema because of these mass, huge event films.”Kapoor subtly disagreed with Vamsi's remark and said it was always there. And pointed out how once Allu Arjun confessed his liking for Amitabh Bachchan. To this, Vamsi replied that he is a fan of SRK. Kapoor continued "He (Allu Arjun) could have said he is a big fan of NTR." To this, Vamsi said that Allu Arjun is a huge fan of Chiranjeevi, too. However, Kapoor countered him by saying that the Pushpa actor may be a mega star's fan but he didn't speak in media like he did for Big B, which means barrier is never a language. He concluded by saying that he didn't mean to undermine Vamsi, he was simply explaining his perspective.
