this reminds me of that one reddit story i watched on call with @amg2 where this girl in like maryland or sm pretended to be this dudes boyfriend (different state) and when boyfriend and the dude broke up the girl made the (ex)boyfriend act absolutely insane bc the two broke up so the dude could get with (ex)boyfriend’s friend and (ex)boyfriend tried to kidnap his friend multiple times and whenever the dude came to visit (ex)boyfriend and boyfriend were never in town so he stayed with the girl and then it also meant that she was the one who sent someone to kill the dudes family and then she faked boyfriend’s death and then suddenly on call with the girl the boyfriend talks and tried to explain and then the dude does some digging and calls up the girl and shows her all the evidence that it was all her so both boyfriends and the entire friend group (that was called the gang) was all made up by her and the dude had this girl living with him for like a month before and she’s fucking insane. she tried to kill his family, put him through constant terror, and blah blah for fun

also she was paying her friend to talk as the boyfriend for the longest time

Three years back, I created 13 alternate accounts on Discord and inserted them into my friend group over the course of a few months, pretending each of them was a new person. They have their own personality and typing / grammar distinctions, and their own fake life events and stories that I've had to keep meticulous track of. Some of them even engaged romantically with real people, though none in the present day. Nowadays the original friend group is split up, with some fake people being present in about each server that still has some kind of connection to the former group. One active group chat even has six alts and one real person. I literally have to keep this up like a puppetmaster because these pretend people have real, important connections to people I still care about. It's hard but I literally don't know how to resolve or change the situation without causing a wave of dispair and destruction in one way or another.
