Fun fact: the amethyst laccaria is a beautiful type of fungi, appearing widely around the globe. It’s recognized by the iconic gem-like colour, although it fades with time. This specie loves nitrogen, so it has a tendency to grow on mass graves, old graveyards and buried decomposed bodies 👁️👁️ their appearance doesn’t necessarily have to mean something as like i said they are very common but they do can be used as clues in crime cases. Also they are edible but don’t taste good and can absorb arsenic from the soils.

Hi dear! I always look forward to your asks!!! I learn a lot from you, and today is no exception! 🫶🏻
They are such a pretty colour! Purple is actually my favourite colour, so I adore all the different hues and shades in these fungi. 🍄 Amethyst is also my birthstone! 🤭 How lovely!
I feel like this is the type of thing I would read in a crime novel, or see on true crime! It’s interesting that such a beautiful plant could potentially sprout from such a tragic case. But that’s almost the beauty of it really. (I’m a little bit morbid haha, things like this are fascinating to me) It would be pretty to see such things in a graveyard, scattered around almost like stars in the sky. 💜
I’d probably want to try one, just to say I had, though I can imagine given the circumstances, they do not taste great like you said. Still, what a gorgeous plant!☺️

the big question : can i bite it?? yeah !! this fungus is edible, though not necessarily choice.

l. amethystina description :
"the cap is 1–6 cm in diameter, & is initially convex, later flattening, & often with a central depression (navel). when moist it is a deep purplish lilac, which fades upon drying out. it is sometimes slightly scurfy at the center, & has pale striations at the margin. the stem is the same colour as the cap, & has whitish fibrils at the base, which become mealy at the top. it is fibrous, hollow, fairly tough when rolled in the fingers, with dimensions of 0.6 to 7 centimetres (0.24 to 2.76 in) long by 0.1 to 0.7 centimetres (0.039 to 0.276 in) thick. the flesh is without a distinctive taste or smell, & is thin, with pale lilac coloration. the gills are colored as the cap, often quite distantly spaced, & are dusted by the white spores; their attachment to the stem is sinuate—having a concave indentation before attaching to the stem."

Funguary Feb 20 - Edible amethyst deceiver - Laccaria amethystina
Like many other Galliformes, edible amethyst deceiver grouse are generally heavily-built birds.  While they resemble mushrooms in order to distract foxes and martens, unfortunately for the deceiver, both of those creatures will eat fungus if they must. As a result, the edible amethyst deceiver has been forced to camouflage itself in places more suited to it's colouration such as goth mood boards and EBM clubs.

It's not Funguary, but I was bored and decided to draw mushrooms from photos, most of which I had saved for the challenge

I'm planning to draw mushrooms that match my OCs, but I haven't decided yet how this will be done (You may have seen one of them for 21 days with Giant Puffball)

BACK TO FUNGUARY!!! decided to make amethyst deceiver a monster of sorts, as it can become a poisonous mushroom depending on the enviroment it grows since it can absorb arsenic from the soil, but can still be a friendly little fella :)

"Laccaria Amethystina" commonly known as Amethyst Deceiver. 💜🍄
An edible mushroom and usually found in all types of woodlands. The stunning bright purple color signifies its youth, but it fades to pale brown or tan with age and weathering. Because of fading, it could easily be confused with the potentially deadly Lilac Fibrecap. 💜💀

My first entry for Funguary even though the month is almost over, coz I'm always fashionably late lol. It do be like that. 🤷🏻‍♀️😅
