1860s-1870s American Marble Topped Sideboard With Mirrored Back Attr. To Mitchell and Rammelsberg -

Imposing drawing room cabinet with brackets for ornaments and curios and enclosed lower portion for china storage.

Useful as a sideboard to store linens and serving pieces for entertaining.

A Marble del Duomo slab of cerulean veined white ground sits atop a base containing two frieze drawers with carved wood scroll pulls, below which is a roomy shelved cabinet accessed by two locking doors.

The doors are fronted with slab cut wavy mahogany.

This sideboard was made in America from figured woods after 1850. It is in the Victorian Gothic Revival mixed with Renaissance Revival styles, likely produced by the Cincinnati, Ohio furniture company Mitchell and Rammelsberg.
