I cannot get the idea of a da2 au where Malcolm is the surviving parent instead of Leandra. Would both of the twins have made it out? I think they would. Because like. Malcolm, unlike Leandra, can actually fight. I don't think either of the twins would have felt the need to protect him. Would the deep roads expedition even have to happen? I assume they would probably be worse off in this au since I don't think Gamlen would lend his aid. Obviously ignoring the very valid reasons why Malcolm would NEVER take his children to Kirkwall, or anywhere near it, how different would it be? Idk why it's plaguing my head rn but LORD

genuine question, what about cullens crush on the mage hero is creepy? like in canon was it implied he was being weird about it that I just missed? I'm for sure not remembering every dialogue he had about them but I can't recall anything super weird?

i mean it's more the circumstances/dynamic than his actual actions - i don't think he's particularly written as a creep in the way a lot of the da2 templars are, but his crush wasn't supposed to be cute imo, it always came across as a way to make players think about the potential dynamics between mages and templars within the circles. in fairness, cullen isn't taking any steps to pursue the warden and he can't help having a crush, but it's apparently noticeable enough that people comment on it in ambient dialogue. imagine being in that situation:

he's an armed jailor whose job is keeping you in a tower against your will and killing you if you step out of line. i don't think extra attention from someone in that position would be welcome or fun as a young girl, especially an apprentice since they're in a more precarious position and more likely to be made tranquil. maybe cullen is nice and won't use his station to manipulate or threaten you, but what about the next templar to become infatuated with you? or the one after that? cullen is young and pretty and doesn't have much influence, but they won't all be like that. there are templars like ser alrik who make mages tranquil specifically to abuse them, how do you know that he won't go and whisper in the night commander's ear that he saw you using blood magic if you tell him to stay away from you? idk. i just think the whole situation is a horror story.

I firmly believe that he adored his big brother as a kid and was very sad when he started spending more time with Bethany, helping with her training, because mages, who he himself isn't. Poor boy! And people wonder why he's so grumpy and resentful! Don't be sad, dear, Garrett loves you very much, even if we don't get the option say it directly in the game.

I'm replaying DA2 with my main worldstate and I got to All That Remains. I'm discussing it with my partner cause it left me perplexed as to why does it feel so different.

First Hawke loses a sibling due to an ogre

Then potentially another due to the blight, but they can be somewhat saved by Hawke's POV,which is something positive

But what happens to Leandra. Is something else.

All circumstances of each loss are beyond brutal to live through and witness but somehow Leandra's hit more,my partner had put it in such a way that made it click.

Mindlessness of an ogre and a disease VS calculation of a person.

Even if Hawke blames themselves,with either sibling is a circumstance that cannot be controlled nor prevented. With Leandra it feels preventable,whole line of missions leading up to it. How if Hawke had more time,more clues,she'd still be there. Of course there are what ifs for the siblings as well but one could reach a sort of cathartic peace by accepting it was impossible to prevent. Same cannot be said about the loss of Leandra.

Hello. I wanted to say that i've been following you for some time and i find your Vietnamese Clothing for DA characters stunning. They are so beautiful and you drew them perfectly and with a style that not only make sense (for example inspiring Bethany circle robes to those of a religious order) but they are also in line with the character original style. So... it's amazing!

Thank you so much! And I'm glad you enjoy the behind-the-scenes details; those little aspects often keep me up at night, since there are aspects of the Thedas worldbuilding (especially DA2) that are quite tricky to translate to/express with Vietnamese culture. I try to embrace imperfections whenever I can, choosing which aspects about the characters to highlight and which to let loose, and yet it still took me more than a year to finish Merrill's design 😂

I realized I never drew my Vy in this AU, so here are both of my Hawkes in a picture together, with their Vietnamese names. Cirilla becomes Trác Lạc (逴躒 - roughly translated into "having outstanding abilities"), as his father wished for her to be heroic and capable, and Vy becomes Tường Vy (薔薇 - climbing rose), as Leandra wished for her to be noble and resilient.

(And yes if you send me an ask for this AU I will draw/post new art for this AU 🙌)
