Hey Erin! I just wanted to come and say thank you thank you thank you that you are finishing Places... as I know it's been difficult because timelines etc but you are just a flawless person for doing this for us and yourself and I wish you much courage, perseverance and happiness! Thanks again!

publishing this ask because i was just about to make a post saying places ch 3 will be up tomorrow AND it has also become 4 chapters, so you all still have one more left to look forward to! wooooo

I understand that, I just don't see how anyone would not agree with the statement that public transportation decreases petroleum use.

And that's exactly what I need to answer.

Hallo meid! Ik weet dat dit allemaal gisteren is gebeurd maar ik wou 2 dingen voorstellen: 1. Je neemt een jaar extra in je masters om je GPA tot een 9 te krijgen (ik weet wel niet of je dat kan in NL) of 2. Je gaat je PhD in Belgie doen! Ik weet dat het in het buitenland is, maar je bent nog heel dicht bij thuis (kan heel gemakkelijk/goedkoop naar huis) en woont in een land met hetzelde taal en een soortgelijke kultuur. Ik hoop dat het niet erg is dat ik je advies geef: only want 2 help! :-)

Ook als ik een 9 zou hebben, dan nog is het heel erg competitief en is de kans zeer klein dat je de beurs wint! Ik heb naar België gekeken (Ghent, onder andere), maar ik moet dan sowieso eerst een gap year nemen om aan mijn onderzoeksvoorstel te werken (de deadlines zijn allemaal in januari al, en dat krijg ik niet op tijd af).

Ik worstel bovendien de laatste tijd met de vraag of het het waard is. Ik zou namelijk met name een Phd halen omdat ik universitair docent wil worden en onderzoek wil doen, maar er zijn nog minder banen dan Phd plekken momenteel, dus ookal zou ik een Phd binnenslepen op een of andere manier, dan is er alsnog geen garantie dat ik binnen Nederland aan de bak kan komen. Het is allemaal zo frustrerend!

En advies is altijd welkom, ik waardeer het zeer!
