hands fold together, stretching his arms outwards than up to relieve some of the tension that filled his muscles from the nightmares. he knows exactly why they’re happening more frequently. they always do this time of year when he’s haunted by the blood on his hands from space. it’s exactly why he patiently awaited his float date.
nick’s feet lay out in front of him, gaze turned on the smoldering fire. it’s almost out entirely, the last of the delinquents sound asleep in their different tents. though LJ seems to find him, he knows sometimes he’s loud in his sleep. yelling for amelia to wake up like he’d done on the ark before the guards had drug him off to the sky box. she never did wake from their drug induced haze. “ nothing i can’t handle. ” he says confidently, tossing her a grin to try and sell it. but he’s getting exhausted with little sleep to hold up a mask and play pretend, so his shoulders droop forward, gaze fixing on the logs.
“ i should put some more on there.. ” he thinks out loud, knowing it’s damn near pointless to make another attempt at sleep.

Could I get some HCs for Jason the Toymaker please?
Jason The Toymaker headcanons:
Jason the Toymaker was created by Kristantyl. Link to story/info here: https://cpuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Jason_the_Toymaker. None of this is canon, this only applies to my AU version of the character.
-He runs a toy store in the Under Realm. He and the Doll Maker are the main source of toys for the child horrors in the Under Realm. Jason and Vine are very competitive and constantly trying to 1-up each other in the toy making business. Their stores are actually across the street from each other.
-Jason keeps the bodies of his victims (which he turns into wax figures) in the “employees only” room in his workshop. If the bodies get too old he feeds them to his snake Mr. Glutton.
-If he doesn’t like the customer that commissions toys from him he’ll give them a toy that comes to life in the middle of the night and trashes their house. He can’t kill them per Under Realm law but he can make them regret getting on his bad side.
-Jason the Toymaker despises children just as much as Laughing Jack does but he’s learned to tolerate being around them since kids are the demographic that tend to be interested in toys in the first place.
-He, Laughing Jack and Candy Pop are the best of friends and the trio love teaming up to mess with people. Pop and LJ are some of the few horrors that can stand to be friends with Jason.
-Jason the Toymaker is A-OK with cracking jokes at the expense of other people but he’ll throw a massive temper tantrum if somebody has the audacity to make jokes at his expense.
-He always needs his friends’ reassurance that they won’t abandon him because he has really strong trust issues. Whenever his friends leave he does that thing where he grabs onto their leg in an attempt to keep them from leaving.
-The only children he likes are ones he considers “the chosen”. For those who don’t know, Jason’s canonical goal is to convince children to promise to play with him forever. Jason always ends up hurting/killing them because they don’t give him as much attention as he likes.
-He tried to make Lily Kennett his chosen once and Suicide Sadie fucking set him on fire.
-The reason Jason searches for the chosen in the first place is to find a replacement for Amelia, the girl he was friends with when he was still human. There’s a reason his chosen ones tend to be girls...

Farmers' Market Challenge
Disclaimer: I own nothing but my overactive imagination
A/N: This was written in 2011 for a challenge in a LJ group of JM Fanfic I was part of.
Pairing: John Mayer x OC/Carl Mayer x OC
Word count: 2084
Warnings: N/A
"Maybe I should call her?" Carl whined from the living room and John held in the thousand curses that crossed his mind at that very moment. His girlfriend of almost eighteen months had broken up with him the week before, and he had been moping around at John's house ever since. Eating all his food, drinking all of his beer and soon making an everlasting dent in his couch, since he hardly moved from there. John walked up to the living room and wasn't surprised to see Carl sitting on the same spot, beer bottle in hand, and the same sweatpants he had worn for the past couple of days. His hair a mess and his eyes red both from the lack of sleep as well as the abuse of alcohol. At the rate he was going, he probably wouldn't have a fully functioning liver by the end of the month. Deciding that it was time to do something instead of just watching him wither away, even though it had been fun for the first couple of days, John reached out and grabbed the beer from Carl's hands. "Enough of this. Get up and go take a shower, we're going out!" John bellowed and almost laughed when Carl literally jumped on his seat. "What are you talking about? I'm not going anywhere, I just need peace to go through this," Carl said, using that whining tone that no one would ever believe it was coming from a thirty-four year old. "Carl William Mayer, I'm telling you, raise that lousy ass from this couch right now and get on the shower, or I'll be flying Mom in and you know that she won't have half the patience I'm having with you right now. Now GO!" John commanded again and the mention of Margaret seemed to take the desired effect, as he stood up and dragged himself to the bathroom, cursing all the way until he closed the door and John couldn't listen to him anymore. *** "Come on Amy! I can't believe that you'll spend the little time we'll have together crying over a failed relationship, it wasn't you that ended things in the first place?" Annie said, sliding into her sister bed and hugging her tightly. She was in town to spend her vacation with her sister and wouldn't certainly allow a break-up to spoil it. She had met Carl a couple of times and had thought him to be a thorough nice guy. She didn't know why Amy had broken up with him in the first place, as her sister didn't get into any specifics, but she was sure that she hadn't meant it, or else she wouldn't be that miserable. "I did, but I miss him..." she confessed, and Annie realized that there'd be another bout of crying if she didn't act quickly. "Okay, Amy, that's it... Let's get out from this bed and do something fun, at least to take your mind off of it for a while, what do you say?" Annie said animatedly, pulling her sister by the hand to get her out of bed, glad to see her giggling in response. "All right, just let me take a shower and we'll go," Amy promised and headed to the bathroom, as Annie headed out to the guest bedroom and did the same. *** "Farmers' Market? Honestly?" Carl grunted as John parked the car. "What's the matter? There's sun, there's people and there's food. Real food, not that junk you've been munching on for the past week," John said, smiling brightly as they left the car and headed towards the stands, being assaulted by all of the noises and smells. "Yeah, whatever..." Carl shrugged and followed John, looking every inch as a kid that had just been chastised. They wandered around and John was happy to see Carl loosening up a little, and even making friends with a lady that was selling cakes, exchanging a few tips and recipes. He even caught Carl smiling a little and was happy with his accomplishment. "Think I might bake something today," Carl said, after he had parted his conversation with the old lady. "That's nice, what are you thinking on baking?" John asked as they approached the fruit stands. "I don't know, maybe an apple pie, but the recipe for the banana cake that lady gave to me seems delicious, what do you think?" He asked John, who was playing with an apple from one of the stands. Carl's question startled him and he ended up letting the apple fall on the floor, what earned him a stern look from the guy responsible for the stand. "Sorry!" He apologized hastily and bended to pick the apple up from the floor. It had a moss on the side it had fallen. "You dropped it, you pay for it," the guy said and John sighed, getting a bill from his pocket and handing it to the guy, throwing the apple away in the nearest trashcan. Raising his head, he didn't see Carl. "Carl?" He called and soon saw his brother crouched a few feet ahead, talking to a little girl. He walked up to them and saw her hand him a banana. "It's the most delicious banana in the world, it has magic powers," the little girl was saying and John couldn't help but to chuckle. "Really?" Carl asked, accepting the fruit from the little girl's hands. "Yes, my mom says it makes you grow. Although I think you are tall enough already," the little girl said and Carl laughed. John felt good upon listening to it. Getting out of the house was definitely helping. After talking some more with the girl and walking around buying a variety of fruits and vegetables, some John hadn't even heard about before, they walked up to a charming coffee shop to sit down for a bit. They ordered coffee and muffins, and were waiting for their orders to arrive when John felt Carl stiffening in his seat. "What is it, Carl?" John asked, touching his arm. He didn't seem to have acknowledged the touch, though, as his eyes seemed fixed somewhere else. John cursed under his breath when he realized to where, or better saying, to whom he was staring. Amelia Louis, the girl responsible for Carl's broken heart, was standing just a few feet away, eating on a scone and talking animatedly to another girl. John let go of Carl's arm when his eyes laid on Amy's companionship. She had long curly dirty blonde hair, that hung loose down her back, tamed only by a black bandana that was tied to like a tiara, to keep her hair from falling over her face. She had a bright smile, and curves that made John's pants tighten. While he was busy checking out Amy's friend, he let go of Carl's arm, and didn't realize that he had stood up and headed to where Amy was until he entered his field of vision. "Oh shit!" He muttered and stood up quickly, way too quickly, as he failed to notice the waitress coming in his direction with their order, and stumbled into her straight on, splashing coffee all over her uniform and a little over his shirt. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry," he apologized and helped her gather everything from the floor and paying the bill, leaving a generous tip, before finally heading to where Carl was standing. "Hi Amy," he said quietly, as he reached the trio. It was clear that it was an uncomfortable situation, with Amy and Carl just staring at each other in an uncomfortable silence. "Hi, I'm John," he said, offering his hand to Amy's friend, who seemed to be as uncomfortable as he was. "Hi, I'm Anastasia Louis, but everyone calls me Annie. Nice shirt, by the way," she chuckled while shaking his hand, and just now John looked down to his yellow shirt and realized the damage that the coffee had done. A stain right in the middle of his chest. “Oh fuck!” he cursed. “It gives it a whole other charm, like tie dye,” Annie chuckled as she observed John as he assessed the damage in his shirt. “Well, since I don’t have another shirt to wear, I’ll stick to the tie dye thing, it makes me feel less the three year old that can’t hold a cup,” John smiled and Annie smiled back, making him stare at her. But soon his attention was diverted again to his brother, who had started speaking. “I just wanted to know why…” Carl said and John went to stand beside him, like he was offering moral support. “I…” Amy said, but was interrupted by Annie. “Not even he knows why, Amy? What happened? What are you hiding?” Annie asked softly, even though John was able to sense a hint of urgency in her voice. “I found the ring, Carl,” Amy whispered. John and Annie looked at each other confused, but Carl seemed to know exactly of what she was talking about. “How did you do it? I had it hidden in a pretty safe place, because I intended it to be a surprise.” “I broke my glasses while I was writing, it was a Sunday evening, so I went to look for some duct tape to repair it temporarily until I was able to go to the store, you know that I can’t write without my glasses or I get those nasty headaches,” Amy explained and Carl just nodded knowingly. “So I panicked, all right? I’m not that sure if I am ready for a step that big.” “Then you decided that it would be easier to break-up with me and go on with your life. You didn’t love me enough to not even consider talking to me about it?” “Carl, please… This was the hardest decision of my life, I love you, I am miserable without you, but I panicked!” Amy declared and as if it was rehearsed, both of them started to walk towards each other, closing the distance. “Amy, I love you, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me and yes, I do want to marry you, but if you don’t feel comfortable to do it soon, I can wait, I can be patient, just don’t make me live without you,” Carl said and his hand reached out to touch Amy’s cheek who, in turn, closed her eyes and molded her face to his hand. John and Annie looked at each other and smiled. “I don’t want to live without you either. This week has been hell to me, a little sample of how hard my life would be without you by my side,” Amy said, opening her eyes and holding Carl’s hand between her own. “You don’t need to feel like that anymore, baby,” and then Carl leaned in and kissed her. John and Annie kept on smiling and high-fived. As the kiss went on, Annie and John looked at each other and started walking away from the couple, allowing them the alone time they most certainly needed. “So, can I buy you a cup of coffee?” John asked as they walked aimlessly. “Are you sure? Or are you planning on adding one more stain to your shirt?” Annie laughed and John felt goose bumps. “You are a smartass, I like it. And no, no plans to add any more stains,” he smiled and noticed that she was blushing a little. “Okay, I guess I can probably fit it in on my busy schedule,” Annie laughed and linked her arm on John’s. And he couldn’t remember the last time he had felt more comfortable. As they parted the kiss, Carl and Amy looked at each other and smiled. As they looked around, both of them were confused not seeing their siblings around. Quickly scanning their surroundings, Carl located John and Annie, arms linked and laughing. He pointed them to Amy, who smiled. “Do you think we should join them?” Amy asked, as they watched the couple sit at the same coffee shop John and Carl had been just a few moments before, seemingly deeply engrossed in conversation. “Nah… I don’t think they want company right now. Besides, I bet we have more interesting things to do,” Carl declared and Amy laughed as he passed an arm over her shoulder and she snuggled on to him and they started walking on the opposite direction of the coffee shop.

Top five, bottom five
I’m not only going to pretend I was tagged, I’m going to pretend I’m an author despite the fact I haven’t written anything in ages. Not everything’s up on AO3, but enough for this meme.
Want to play along? Rules: Tag the person who tagged you, always post the rules, answer the questions, and add the date!
What are your five most popular works? (starting with the most kudos)
1. Neoliberal Holmes, or, Everything I Learned about Modern Life I Learned from Sherlock (BBC, 2010) Meta, 1k, August 2010
Every age gets the Holmes it deserves.
Written immediately after watching Series 1. Not a surprise at the top of this meme. Hands down the most popular and most polarizing thing I’ve ever written.
2. Good to Know.  Sherlock/John, gen, 1.7k, July 2010
If Sherlock didn't make a mistake every once in a while, he wouldn't learn anything unexpected.
Probably technically not Sherlock/John, but in my mind those two are always together. What we used to call pre-slash, I guess. Actually about John’s relationship with a third character.
3. A Life of Crime. Sherlock/John, Mrs. Hudson,  gen, 2.7k, August 2010
How innocently it all starts! Mrs Hudson observes her tenants.
My meta head-canon for this show. Dear to my heart.
4. Heavn (Version 2.0)  HP, Nymphadora Tonks, Teddy Lupin, gen, 4.8k, January 2014, warning for character death
Teddy’s always been able to hook them up. The afterlife’s no different.
So this is my highest HP fic? Possible because it was written and posted to AO3 once this segment of fandom was up and running on AO3.
5. Lullaby and Good Light. HP, Remus/Sirius, gen, 2.7k,
Sharing a bed, sharing a life.
And the five least popular, fewest kudos first:
1. Like Water on the Moon. HP, Alice Longbottom/Amelia Bones, Alastor Moody, gen, 600 words, uploaded August 2010 but written sometime earlier?
In her mind's eye, Moody's leg is right again, and he walks up the path with a bunch of flowers under his arm and a spring in his step.
2. Touchy, Feely. HP, Lord Voldemort, Mundungus Fletcher, Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy, gen, 2.5k, October 2011
Lord Voldemort’s managerial skills leave something to be desired.
3. Ex LIbris. HP, Eileen Snape, Severus Snape, gen, 1.2k, written at some point before August 2010
The summer he is sixteen, Eileen Prince says good-bye to her son.
4. How Can I Miss You If You Won’t Go Away? HP, Alice Longbottom, Remus/Sirius, PG, 2.5k, January 2009
1979 has been a difficult year. Alice blames Frank, who couldn’t say no to a stray.
Butch!dyke Alice! How could you not love this story? *sigh* Not very many people did, even over at LJ when it was first written. Some fics are just for you.
5. Explorations. HP, Ginny Weasley/Millicent Bullstrode, PG, 1.6k, January 2013
Sometimes courage and cunning are two sides of the same Galleon.

Meet Johanna “Jo” Sullivan. She’s 19 years old and kind of looks like Katelyn Tarver. She is the daughter of Arista Triton and James Sullivan. She’s a second year.
From a young age, Johanna has liked being in the spotlight. It started with happily babbling at everyone until she could speak words. When she was little, she got her hands on a microphone and from then on there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that she’d follow in her mother’s footsteps.
Jo has always liked to push boundaries. Whether it was sneaking out after being grounded or earning more time in detention than normal, she’s never had much regard for rules. She calls it a symptom of being the middle child, but the carefree blonde would rather be on the beach with her friends and her guitar.
Several nights a week the girl can be found performing songs at various locations in Santa Monica, though her favorite is The Teacup. She’s played covers for the most part but every now and then she’ll throw in an original song to keep the audience interested.
Much like her mother was before finding Sulley, Johanna is a serial dater. No relationship has lasted longer than a month and generally, she isn’t seen with the same guy more than once. Maybe it’s because she’s willful or because of her dedication to music, but she’s not looking to settle down anytime soon. For now, she’s content to have fun, flirt, and sleep around as she chooses.
Like the females before her in the Triton bloodline, Johanna is a mermaid with a dark red tail.
Connections:
Alexandria, Amelia, Juliet, AJ - siblings
LJ Hatten - friend - he’s dating her sister so she’s glad he’s cool.
Kit Andrews - music buddy - one of her favorite people to jam with.
Roza - friend - she’s attempting to get the girl to come out of her shell
Darcy - friend
Addison Radcliffe - friend
Alani Ryan - friend
Isabella Maldette - friend/cousin -
Zane Stone - flirtationship - he plays guitar and has a motorcycle, meaning he’s exactly Johanna’s type.
Nellie Stone - little sister figure - she watches out for her at parties
Clark Rogers - music buddies - the two always show each other new music they stumble across
message me for connections!

Reading meme
Created and tagged by the wonderful @dreamywritingdragon <3
1. What is your favorite genre?
I’ll try pretty much any fiction, but I usually prefer mysteries or fantasy. I do read and have read a lot of “literature,” but I greatly prefer escapism.
2. How many books did you read this year?
According to Goodreads, 82 BUT a bunch of those are manga and at least 12 are individual chapters of manga that are released monthly, so that artificially boosted my count. I’ve actually been reading through old manga that I own that I haven’t read in years, and it’s fun, along with scoring free ebooks on Amazon and my library.
3. Favorite book of all time?
Aaah, this is impossible! Growing up, it was The Black Stallion, The Black Stallion Mystery and Man O’War by Walter Farley. As a teenager, it was the Dragonlance saga by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman and The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy. As a young woman, The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. Then The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters and One For the Money by Janet Evanovich. The Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett. Now, I’m old and I just don’t know. I DO know that I’m more discriminating. I try a lot of free Kindle books on Amazon, and I’m teaching myself it’s OK to stop reading and delete one if it’s awful. And a lot are.
4. The book you never thought you would love but adore so much?
The Harry Potter series. A friend loaned me the first four forever ago, and I liked them and I got around to reading the rest eventually as they came out. I enjoyed them and cried at all the appropriate spots, but I didn’t really fall in love with them until this summer. I listened to all seven audiobooks while I was cleaning out houses, and they just blew me away. Not just her world-building and character-making, but her language and the style of her writing is just incredible. They sound really, really lovely read aloud, which isn’t always the case for a lot of novels. I’ve since re-listened to the first six and they only get better on repeat.
5. The book you thought you would love but ended up hating?
A Game of Thrones.
6. Your favorite book written in your mother tongue?
I feel very spoiled because I can only speak and read English and we have a lot of choices.
7. The writer you would die to meet?
The two writers I would most love to meet are dead—Sir Terry Pratchett and Elizabeth Peters. The other is J.K. Rowling. I wouldn’t be able to say anything; I would just want to sit there and bask in her presence (and hope some of her talent and genius would rub off onto me).
8. The TV/movie adaptation you hate?
I finally got around to watching the Harry Potter movies this fall, and wow, The Goblet of Fire was bad and not true to the spirit of the book at all.
9. The TV/movie adaptation you love with all your heart?
The Princess Bride! I didn’t care for the book, but maybe that was because I already had the movie memorized by the time I read it.
10. The book you wished was adapted on screen (with all the details in, all the right characters depiction, perfect settings…do I need to go on?)
I would LOVE to see The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan done on premium cable. There is plenty of material in 14 completed books, a cast of a thousand characters, all the sex and violence you can shake a stick at. It would be a challenge, but if they could get it right and all the right actors and special effects, it would be AMAZING.
11. Which book would you recommend to your best friend?
I have recommended Elizabeth Peters’ Amelia Peabody Emerson series to so many people. I love it, especially the early books, with all my heart. Lately, I’ve been recommending Howard of Warwick’s novels. He’s a self-pub author on Amazon, and his books literally crack me up. They’re a touch of Terry Pratchett mixed with Monty Python, and I don’t know, his sense of humor strikes me perfectly (y’all know I’ve got a terrible sense of dad humor). He has a series about a medieval monk, Brother Hermitage, who accidentally becomes the King’s Investigator (he literally coins the term “Investigator” from the Latin...it’s a running joke) and the hijinks that occur as he walks around England trying to avoid having to solve murders. He’s accompanied by Wat the weaver who would probably still be able to make a fortune weaving his dirty porno tapestries. Howard really manages to mix in a lot of historical fact and show how everyday life was in 1066 along with the crazy antics of Hermitage and company.
12. Do you read fanfic? If yes, in which fandom?
Moi? Fanfic? What is this fanfic of which you speak? >_>
Hehehe, if I’m interested in a movie or show, I usually got to AO3 right after I watch it and see about fic. I subscribe to a bunch of favorite authors in so many fandoms. And there are the old anime/manga fandoms that I think about once or twice a year and check in on. Last night, it was Bleach.
13. Which is your favorite fanfic of all times?
I LOVE the writer daegaer on LJ! Everything that she writes—regardless of whether I know the source material or not—is brilliant. I always rank her among my top authors of all time. Her Weiss Kreuz stuff is about 1000 times better than that anime ever was. She is just the writer I will always aspire (and fail) to be!
14. Which wonderful (fanfic) writer did you discover this year?
I’ve gotten to know more DVD writers which is so exciting! :D
15. Who is your book OTP?
Amelia Peabody and Radcliffe Emerson FOREVER
16. And your book NOTP?
Ramses Emerson and Nefret NOPE
17. What are you reading currently?
I’m still trying to get through The Sword and the Dragon by M.R. Mathias (it’s my third try, and I really want to like it because there’s a ton of potential but argh this author tries to weave too many characters and too many subplots and it’s super-confusing. I’m 35% in, and if I can’t get through it this time, I give up.) Also, I just started the manga series Tactics, one of my favorites that I own and I haven’t re-read in years. It’s a lovely story with really beautiful art.
This was a fun meme you made @dreamywritingdragon ! Thank you so much for tagging me! :D
If any of you lovelies would like to play, please do and tag me so I can learn more about you!

LJ Entry: In All Forms ("Eyes" Entry)
Title: In All Forms Characters: 11th Doctor, Rory, Amy, Prisoner Zero Rating: G Spoilers: For “The Eleventh Hour” Word Count: 374 Episode Setting: The end of Season 5 Episode 1 “The Eleventh Hour” Summary: The Doctor goes through a short identity crisis after seeing his eleventh regeneration.
Prisoner Zero started to glow and switched forms again, from the Lady with the girls into someone new. It was a man. A man that looked familiar, but not.
I was sure I had not seen him before, but he was very familiar. But it wasn’t supposed to be him, it was Amy that was in the link with Prisoner Zero.
“Well, that’s rubbish. Who’s that supposed to be?” I asked, turning to Amy’s friend.
“That’s you,” he replied, utterly confused by my question.
“Me? That’s what I look like?”
I was surprised to see the raggedy man that stood before me, he was different than I expected, handsome, but different. I had changes oh so many times that sometimes I do forget what I look like, but this, this is the first time I’ve seen this me. I am different now, I feel different. Everything about me had changed, I am a new person, with new everything.
But still being me on the inside, I had found an adventure, a mystery, a game to play, and I would win. Prisoner Zero was no match for me, for any version of me. But inside a filthy feeling started to grow ever larger, guilt. I know this feeling. I have been in this new form for not long, but this feeling is familiar. I feel guilty. Guilty for leaving little Amelia Pond all alone, guilty for all the lives I’ve lived, more than most. Some great people don’t live nearly as long as me but here I am, still kicking.
For a moment I just stared into the eyes of prisoners Zeros copy of me, those were my eyes. I have had many eyes. Just like Prisoner Zero. Always changing, we both are. Does that mean that’s all I am? Just like Prisoner Zero? Am I just a bunch of copies?
No. No, I’ll never be like Prisoner Zero. I am me. I am the Doctor. And as much as I will change, inside and out, I will always be the Doctor. No matter whose eyes I am looking out of, I am me. And now, it is time for me to save the world. Because that is who I am, I am the Doctor.

putting together some miscellaneous lost judgment thoughts now that i’ve finished the game but i don’t feel like writing it in paragraph form so bulleted list it is
CHRIST the mitsuru storyline became a lot more heart wrenching than i expected it to be. not only does he need to come to terms with the fact that he’s been in a coma for thirteen fucking years, but the only two people who cared for him while he was in a coma are now gone. sawa has been murdered, and he’ll never be able to have a normal life with his mother again.
the soundtrack FUCKS supremely holy shit. the remix of destination had me going insane it was so fucking good
the final boss legitimately gave me chills. it was genuinely so tragic to me. it was so very clearly two men that desperately wanted to see the other’s point of view. kuwana had said that he wants yagami to convince him that yagami is correct. yagami obviously keeps driving home sawa’s murder because it’s what shows that kuwana’s version of justice isn’t without blame. it’s so easy to want to root for kuwana and side with him, but we can’t forget that sawa was cruelly murdered as collateral damage. as kaito said, there’s no right solution to this problem and yagami and kuwana both know that. they’re both searching for this perfect middle ground of their two ideals that doesn’t exist.
i really liked that the game brought back the ministry of health and the pension plotline from the first game. it just goes to show that this huge stash of money and desire to grab it will always exist
building on that last point, that’s why i really liked that kuwana got away at the end. the main conflict of the game to me really is about “what can we do about this broken system?” and even though yagami and kuwana had different ideas of what this meant, they both at least agreed that the answer is “whatever i am feasibly able to do”.
taking down the public security division and fixing the corruption in there wasn’t a realistic option, and yagami knows that. turning over kuwana wouldn’t accomplish anything other than playing right into the public security division’s hands. the only thing that yagami was able to do at that moment was get immediate justice for sawa. catching soma and convincing reiko to turn herself in was a huge win. that’s as much as he was able to do in the system and he knows that he can’t push his luck and try for anything bigger than that.
