Chapter 3

Two days later, the evening of the festival…

The drumming began before the sunset, the low hum of it permeating Caras’ senses as she dressed for the party. The feast had gone well and everyone was merry. She even noticed that William was quite distracted with Roland tonight, no doubt they would slip away and find somewhere cozy to be together. Joshua toured the crowds, vigilant, but relaxed, even with Sir gone, there was nothing to worry about. The community was gathered and there was no ill will.

As the sun set, the nightly spring breeze wafted through the open doors of her suite and carrying the thump of the drums and the singers and the jingles of the ladies bells. Cara dressed in her silken and gauze and moves to the beat of the drums as she put her hair up, ready to dance.

The flames lick the wood as it snaps and crackles, and the flames grow higher and higher, filling the canopy with a brilliant orange glow. Sparks fly into the heavens of the break in the sky, the moon is slivered tonight, but she is building momentum. Cara comes down from the suite and walks majestically through the crowd of dancers. The drums stop a moment to allow her entry… then swirl up again as she spins… around and around. Cara dances. The dancers swirl around her, in a whirling twirling display. The drum caller, Palal starts to sing… a baleful song.. of faeries and summer nights, and Cara smiled at him in reminiscence.

“I tell the tale of the girl so pale with wheat and winding hair.

She tossed her love into the bog and smiled as he sat there.

Oh wet and true, his eyes burned blue and never was she fair.

Then the night he came upon her and stole her purity there.

Oh, oh. That night he took her there.

She gazed and gleamed in starry streams, with ivy in her hair.

Cara danced for some time more, and finally rested on a bench to catch her breath and get a drink. She grabbed a cup, and poured some from the large jug on the table. Ajay, came up to her then, carrying a sacramental goblet on a tray.

“Mistress, will you take this offering for our harvest, the kitchen prepared it for you” Ajay said, bowing his head, his eyes looking up at her, as she rose to stand before him. Her smile bright, he was already infatuated, but now, that burning desire in him was sure he had made the right decision to pursue her. Up close like this, she smelled like wild strawberries, and her voice was lilt and playful. Cara giggled, as she took the goblet, looking away for a moment at some other guests, then back at him, bringing the cup to her lips and savoring the tea… she swallowed, and a sting of bitter hit her throat. She choked a bit, and looked to Ajay whose eyes were eager.

Cara coughed a bit, then leaned on him, the tray hitting the ground at their feet, making little sound. Ajay, patted her back a moment, “There there, are you alright, Mistress?” Cara collected herself, “oh yes. Just too sweet I think,” she laughed nervously and went for some water. Ajay was holding the goblet.. “No, no Mistress if you discard the offering, the harvest, the harvest”, he tipped the goblet back into her mouth, as she spurted a bit, and drank another gulp. Her eyes growing wide at his enthusiasm. She kept her wits, and when she sat back down, she hastened a gulp and tried for some water again. Ajay, looked to the master suite a moment, gauging the distance.

Cara had a moment to drink some water and then she rose to join the dancers again, “I think I shall dance again, are you coming?” She offered.

Ajay, looked sheepish, “No mistress, I am fine here”.

Cara sprung into the line again and started to dance, but very quickly, as her heart pumped to the beat of the drums, her feet felt heavy, and her head felt dizzy. She spun, and it only made the world spin faster, out of control. When she thought she would hit the ground, Ajay, caught her in midair and stood her up, gracefully. “Thank you” Cara said, looking up at him, his eyes bright like her husbands, and his hair fell like that of his youth against his strong temples. She caressed his face a moment, and he picked her up and carried her away from the fire and the feast.

William and Roland were making out, just down from the fire, and missed Cara leaving. Joshua was negotiating something with the kitchen as Ajay carried her off. No one noticed them leaving, though they should have.

Ajay moved swiftly carrying Cara as she lulled in consciousness. He knew the doors were open to the suite and he made his way inside, laying her on the bed, while he closed up doors and windows quickly and nimbly. Cara moaned, “My love, come back.. I need you”, a giggle burbled from her lips. Ajay sighed, as he looked at her.

The gauze and silk of her dress was riding up her deliciously thick thighs and showing her curves. Her delicate feet, rubbed against each other, as she writhed on the bed, unsteady and sleepy. Her one nipple was starting to protrude from her chemise and he nearly drooled at the prospect of biting it between his teeth. Joshua looked coarse, “all day, but what do you mean?” Joshua put his hand up as William was about to protest, “Look let’s just find her, she couldn’t have gone far, maybe she went to bed, Richard is due back soon, right” William nodded. “So let’s go check it out”, said Joshua. They both hurried up the plankways, around several smaller suites and towards the master suite house.

Cara’s senses were dulled, and her head still swam, her core was aroused, but she could not move. Ajay, pushed into her, and tears strolled down her cheeks leisurely, as she fought to keep them open. She kept murmuring, “Dark hair, bright eyes, dark hair, bright eyes,” as he stroked into her fiercely and quick. Ajay, finished so quick he could barely pull out of Cara. Joshua looked down,” a minor distraction, Sir,” 

Richard gritted his teeth and yanked his key out of his pocket, shoving it into the door handle.. He unlocked it and found it wouldn’t open. “What was the distraction, may I ask?” Richard inquired looking back at Joshua, who was ready with a weapon, “Roland” Richard rolled his eyes, “Oh for fuck’s sake” More to the door than to William, William hoped.

Richard pushed it hard with his shoulder and it broke free. Richard moved briskly into his home, and straight to the bedroom. Richard came upon the scene and roared as he grabbed Ajay in one clean movement by his shirt collar and yanked him free of Cara. Richard tossed Ajay in the direction of Joshua and William and moves to Cara on the bed, seeing her dis-shelved and damp, he wanted to touch her, but also not disturb her.

Cara moans “Richard”, as her eyes flutter, “Help me”. Richard kissed her forehead, shielding her with his form, “Oh my love” he cooed, covering her with her garments to conceal her propriety. Richard snapped back at Ajay, who is now, standing, pants loose, and cock sure. A smile curls his lips, as William and Joshua hold him steady.

Richard stood to his full height beside the bed. Though Ajay was lean and tall, Richard was still taller, by several inches, and bigger. Working out on the farm like this over the last few years had gained him more mass, and he towered over Ajay now. “What were you doing with my, Wife?” He growled, inches from Ajay’s face.

Ajay smirked, “What are you going to do about it, old man, huh?”

Richard, looked towards Cara and back to Ajay, and chuckled, “Yeah, you sure showed me (sardonic grin) taking my lady to bed by force”. He moved to cover Cara up with a coverlet, she stirred but was sleeping now.

Richard stepped back towards Ajay who wasn’t squirming, “I’ll bet she called my name while you took her”, Ajay looked at him then, gulping hard, but not looking down.

Richard’s deep voice resonated through the cabin, “You thought you’d get a taste and sneak off, huh. Thought I wouldn’t notice” smirks and shakes his head.

Then turns back to Ajay and grabs his jaw in his powerful hand, gripping it tightly. William and Joshua both shift uneasily.

“If you think that I will let some upstart take what is mine, you have got another thing coming” he snarled at Ajay, looking him deep in the eye, “That is my Queen you defiled, (his hand shot out behind him, pointing at Cara), I should kill you right now”.

Richard grabbed Ajay by the throat and dragged him out of the balcony doors that slammed open with a large clatter. William and Joshua both looked surprised at Richard’s outburst.

ambrose diligently put his shoes away before stepping into the living room, leaving his briefcase and keys in their designated spots in the entryway.

“ivy?” he called out, his tone tense.

he paused despite the silence to unbutton his shirt meticulously. with each button undone, he mentally removed the stresses and worries from the day one by one from his body.

the one stressor he couldn’t leave behind in the entryway to their shared home was ivy herself, or rather a decision she made. it caused him both worry and stress – two things he had long since learned to manage separately as a survival tactic.

when the two combined, like they did today, it wreaked absolute havoc on his ability to control his emotions and he knew that, despite his best efforts, he probably took some of that out on his students.

ivy had skipped work that day without telling him. he had to find out from alavidze that she had called in sick and it was an understatement to say that he was upset. there was no justifiable reason for his wife to skip out on a job that she normally took very seriously when he also knew for a fact that she. was. not. sick.

she seemed fine in the morning when they left for work. he had gone straight to his class while she headed to her office per their routine. she had been quieter than usual during their commute but chalked it up to being a bit overloaded with work lately.

he had resolved to help her unwind tonight, even planning to pick up some cheese and a bottle of her favorite wine on his way home. but here he was now, emptyhanded, standing in the threshold of their bedroom and staring at the large lump in their bed.

any remaining feelings of irritation vanished as soon as he took in her hunched figure buried underneath their duvet.

ivy’s entire body had tensed once she realized ambrose was home. she was fully expecting an angry rosy lecture, complete with perfectly valid points about not running from her responsibilities just because she didn’t feel like it. she knew he’d be a bit more understanding once he knew exactly why she chose to ditch work for the day.

but she figured she’d still have to get through the lecture first.

it was a term reserved for each other, in the privacy of their home. as natural as the air they breathed and the sound of her name on his tongue.

she couldn’t see the conflict between worry and fear in ambrose’s eyes as he lifted the duvet and climbed in beside her, bringing his warm body flush against her back and wrapping his arm around her stomach.

ivy squeezed her eyes tighter at the feel of him around her, his hand on her stomach sending a wave of emotion through her body.

“i’m pregnant,” she finally said quietly, pausing for a beat before twisting in his arms and willing herself to look him in the eye.

ambrose was not a man of many facial expressions. but she had learned how to read him and his little tells. the slight upward furrow of his brow indicating he was overwhelmed and processing. the widening of his dark pupils taking her in and reinforcing his absolute adoration for her. the pressing of the corner of his lips together letting her know he was trying to find the right words.

so she wasn’t surprised when tears started pooling in his eyes and falling down his face instead.

“i know we said we’d wait a while,” she said, wiping his tears with her thumb. “say something.”

he just leaned forward and rested his forehead against hers, taking a few deep breaths until the tears stopped. she tilted his head back until she could see herself in his eyes, see the way he breathed her in with just a glance.

ivy gave him a small smile, her goofy one, reserved just for him. “jagiya?”

It’s kinda an unwritten rule that when a character has no assigned sexuality you can head canon them as whatever you want, for whatever reason you want. However when a character is specifically queer that’s supposed to be respected. This keeps not happening. Harley and Ivy for example in a lot of canon (including the current cartoon) are Bisexual. Valkyrie as in the comics and as said by Tessa Thompson, Bisexual. Ambrose from Sabrina is Pan. I could go on. Anyone not respecting this easy to find and often in text information is just being at best obtuse and at worse an ass. It’s that easy. for me, it’s the school library!

v. a place in a fictional world you would live most likely?

cliche answer, but the Wizarding World. If I had to pick one from my wips, though, it would probably be Rosefell (from Penny Lane)

vi. choose an animal to be the gatekeeper to your world. why this animal in particular?

a phoenix, mostly because of what they represent. also, because I think they’re cool.

vii. when would you like to have started writing? with what age?

I started writing when I was eight, which I’m alright with lol.

viii. the zodiac signs of your original characters.

I can’t write all of them because I have too many, but here are the signs of my main characters:

Marin Van Doren: Aries (March 29th)

Eloi Hill: Cancer-Leo cusp (July 21st)

I made a name list!

Okay, so, apparently it’s a bit of a trend now to share name lists in this community. I have a name list of my own that’s been getting longer and longer. I’m deciding to share it, because I love going over other people’s lists myself and I have found many cool names that way!

My list is very long, like, very long, so you can find it under the cut. I also put it on a page on my blog here ( you can find a link on my homepage as well) and in a pdf file here. There, the names also have colours to indicate whether they’re male, female or unisex names. That page will probably be updated as I find more names I like. Anyway, enjoy?

she shot up in bed and groaned into her hands, the sound of nick cringing echoing in her head.

just get out of my head.

she started blasting punk rock music and turned on the shower, letting the sounds and the steam drown out nick’s thoughts and push her dreams away.

this was starting to get out of hand. it was bad enough she couldn’t stop thinking about rosy while awake, but he was appearing vividly in her dreams now. like ivy inching into the crevices of her carefully designed walls.

she grabbed a scrap piece of paper and a pen from her purse as nick started rattling off a list in her head. once she wrote everything down, she resumed her pace toward the exit before nick grabbed her arm at the sound of a familiar voice.

“wiseman!”

i think rosy’s calling you.

“i know for a fact he’s not calling me,” she smirked.

“cadet park,” ambrose nodded stiffly at ivy who saluted in return before walking away.

nick’s jaw dropped as he looked back-and-forth between ambrose and his sister as the realization that there must be something going on with them hit him, suddenly making him wish he didn’t eat so much at lunch.
