Hi. I was wondering if you were going to do some blogs on the third volume of the second Rayearth Manga that concludes the version of the story in which Nova and Debonair don't exist.

I would love to get back to the manga liveblogs one day, it's just that real life has a habit of getting in the way. I've had a lot going on in the past couple of years, buying a house and slowly getting more responsibilities at work. Right now, my family is helping me do some renovations/upgrades on the house, so my free time is limited. But I really really want to get back to the MKR manga liveblogs one day soon, life permitting.

Hi. I have been reading some of your Rayearth blogs and I noticed that you kept stating that Lady Debonair was a gratuitous addition and never served a purpose to the story, but I'm not so sure I agree. I felt that that she was an incredibly threatening villain who could pop up anywhere at any time and wreak havoc on a whim, making her a scary character, and there were several times when she did. As for Nova, I thought that the adversity she provided Hikaru with was compelling.

And that's fine! People are allowed to have differences of opinion about different pieces of media. I personally didn't care for Debonair myself, but if you like her, that's good for you. I prefer the manga where it looks like she's not going to appear at all.

As for Nova, I despise her, but I absolutely love her as a villain. She's such a good foil to Hikaru; she fulfills such an interesting function in the narrative, making Hikaru literally face and come to terms with the darkness within her.

But it's fine that we don't totally agree. In fact, I'd be surprised if we did. Thank you for taking time to check out my liveblogs, I hope to get back to them soon.

I’m not sure how long we’ll go, mom is thinking of closing the pizza place early because we are almost out of pretty much everything (it has been a super busy week), so I may get to do this the rest of the day. We’ll see.

Of course, as soon as Zazu leaves, Eagle begins to wake. He’s worried about Lantis and Cephiro, perhaps in conjunction. I wonder if this is hinting that he and Lantis devised a plan to get rid of the Pillar system and this is a sign in that direction? Anyway, Geo is relieved that Eagle is finally conscious, but Eagle is more worried that he may have let info slip while he was asleep; Geo lies, maybe, to Eagle, saying he didn’t say anything. He obviously said “Lantis,” “I must,” and “Cephiro,” but perhaps Geo just took that as confused mumbling as Eagle was waking up? Geo wants to know what the plan is from here on out, but he’s willing to give Eagle some privacy to gather his thoughts first. (sidenote: I can’t decide if I think Geo is in the loop here or not.) I wonder what Eagle has to be sorry to Lantis about?

She’s still not over Emeraude’s death and probably won’t ever be. Given the circumstances around it, I can’t say I blame her.

And Geo and Zazu, I guess. Poor boy, all sick and suffering, worn out from battle and still having to maintain the road to Cephiro. And of course Zazu has no idea he’s sick, but Geo’s not about to tell him. It’s not his place.

Look at the loving attention to Geo (who is ripped btw) and Eagle. So Geo doesn’t know? But he and Zazu are suspicious? Eagle! You’ve got some ‘splaining to do!

MKR is definitely CLAMP's prettiest manga. I think in an interview they said its style was the hardest for them out of all their series

I love the artwork in the MKR manga! I don’t doubt it was hard, there’s so much attention to character design and detail. I mean, look at it:

Dang Aska! She put so much power into giant Sang Yung’s blast that not only did she knock out Tarta and Tatra, she passed out herself. “Now I’m mad!” indeed.

111. Another vote for Lantis to be a Disney princess:

112. What a life.

Hanging out in trees during the day, fighting monsters created by fear (I assume, and minor fears at that) at night, Lantis has no cares or worries, no wars to fight, no struggle to protect Emeraude. He’s got it made.

113. The beginning of the end.

Zagato’s right. Emeraude serves the people of Cephiro, a role she cannot hope to be free of except through the exact means she used to earn her freedom. And that she chose to end it the way she did, proves she was the strongest of any of them.

114. And now Lantis knows.

I wonder if this is when Lantis began making plans to leave Cephiro? After seeing Zagato’s feelings for Emeraude, he knew the legend and knew what fate awaited Emeraude and probably his brother as well. I’m gald he got out and didn’t have to suffer watching what they both became.

It probably won’t be you, Lantis, but it will be done. I have faith in a fiery pinkhead you may be acquainted with who seems to be up for the job.

2. In which Aska and Tarta and Tatra are surprisingly on the same page.

An attack on two fronts is going to make things a bit more difficult for the girls.

3. Aska you are ridiculous, and I love you!

She wants to become Pillar and make all the buildings be made of gingerbread and to give Sang Yung a room made out of peach pastry. Aska, you ridiculous child, never change.

4. BRB, laughing forever.

I mean, Aska’s not wrong, but can you imagine Tarta’s reaction to hearing Aska say their ship looks like a gravy boat? She’d absolutely flip, especially since, given the d’jinn, I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be a genie’s lamp. Also, it looks not at all flight-worthy.

5. Studying does have it’s advantages, Aska.

Such as knowing when a ship belongs to a rival country, maybe? Sang Yung knows, so you should have been paying attention so you could know, too.
