Full Name: Amanda Adams, approximate age is 23, she/her pronouns (okay with she/they)

A mechanic by trade and was trained by her father. Currently works as the lead mechanic in his shop

Dabbles in prosthetic building, repair, and restoration (especially since her father has a prosthetic leg). Tends to do this for free for practice and because she genuinely likes helping people

Very strong in her beliefs and moral code, does not tolerate those who take advantage of others

Charges repairs on a sliding scale (figures out how much someone can afford and is very known for cutting customers a break)

... Except if you're an asshole. Then it's full price. Don't try and intimidate her into a discount either, then she'll increase

Her hands and arms are littered with small cuts and bruises constantly because of her work and she has a decent amount of scars from work as well

Unless she's working, she does have a bad habit of covering her arms and hands as much as possible because while she isn't ashamed of her scars and cuts (she thinks of them as proof of her hard work), she does find them a little embarrassing to show out in public

She's also got a few scars from getting caught up in a few gunfights (as a bystander)

Ridiculously high pain tolerance and it actually takes a decent bit to make her actually cry out in pain

While she holds her head high with confidence and can put on a brave face, it actually can take a lot for her to stand up to someone while being threatened and not look afraid

Has stomped on a socket wrench to loosen the bolts on tires before and will do it again (she's kinda small compared to other mechanics so she's gotta compensate)

Very often uses the "I am wearing steel-toed boots" threat

When she realizes she may feel for someone romantically, she flusters very easily. Otherwise, she finds people flirting with her extremely annoying and will find the quickest out that she can

I'm playing around with the idea that her parents wanted her to become a plant engineer or technician since she is ridiculously smart, but she decides to stay home and learn her father's trade instead so she could stay around to take care of him

Her dog tags belong to a family member that she never met, but were passed down to her by her father. She adds a second dog tag with her information on it since she does have to travel occasionally to get parts

9.) Their favorite foods? Colors? Activities? What do they enjoy in life? How do they express their joy for things they like?

Amanda is an absolute sucker for sweets and always treats herself to something sweet after a particularly hard day. She also loves salty foods and honestly? You'd probably catch her combining salty and sweet foods whenever she has the time. Also a sucker for just... plain bread. She loves bread. As for colors, she really enjoys yellow! Like bright sunny yellows! Yellow makes her feel happy and like the world is full of life (even when it isn't). She also enjoys soft colors too, like soft blues and purples. When she isn't fiddling and working on cars in the shop, she enjoys reading and singing. Granted, she really only sings when she's alone or very quietly while she's working. She also likes applying the knowledge of her trade on other things and do DIY and home improvement projects when she can. She's very clumsy on the piano, but does enjoy playing simple tunes on the one her father keeps in their house. Amanda isn't afraid to express when she's excited or happy, because a surprised gasp is always followed by an excited or happy squeal. She also isn't afraid to cheer loudly when things are going great. Also has a bad habit of bouncing on her feet a bit when she's happy, which has caused her to bonk her head on open car hoods or tables countless times.

1.) Does your insert have a name that’s different from yours? Does the name reflect their character in any way, or is it just because it sounds nice? How did you come up with it?

Nope! Trigun insert shares my name because she is one of those OCs/inserts that very much resembles me and how I am as a person. Her last name is different than my actual one, obviously and I mostly just chose that cause alliteration and it's just a nice basic last name. I am considering changing it to one of the other last names I use for my name-sharing inserts (that being Gerberich).

2.) Does your insert have a very strong relationship with a f/o, maybe more than one? Tell us a little about the dynamic they have! This can be a bond that’s romantic, familial, or platonic, anything - even an enemy would count as a strong relationship!

I gonna go more into the details of another OC I'm making for Trigun for Amanda's background, and that would be her father! She is extremely close to him and has been learning his trade she since was a child. She's a total daddy's girl being that it's been just the two of them since she was a kid. They have a playful back-and-forth banter that they share while Amanda works on vehicles in the shop and her father works on the books. She very affectionately calls him "pops", but will occasionally call him "daddy" like she did when she was a younger child. Her father wanted her to become a plant engineer like her grandmother was, but he was very happy to pass down his knowledge of mechanics instead. Her father is the whole reason Amanda learned how to walk tall with her head held high. He just wishes she'd ask for help for often. I also like to think that she eventually becomes close friends with Milly and Meryl and keeps in contact with both ladies via letters (Amanda eventually becoming part of the Milly Monthly).

3.) Who in their canon are they closest to? Who would they drop everything to come help, if anyone? Who’s the person they’re least close to? Who would they most likely not get along with, if anyone?

As mentioned before, Amanda is very close to her father and would drop everything to help him if he needed is (especially after his accident that left him with a prosthetic leg). She'd also gladly help Milly and Meryl if they were in town and needed a ride somewhere or an extra set of hands for something. While there isn't really anyone she's particularly distant from (cause she keeps everyone at arms length and is very afraid to get close to people), she refuses to help anyone she deems an asshole (such as bandits or good-for-nothing mercs who don't give a damn what happens to a town as long as they get their bounty).

4.) Does your insert have a backstory? Tell us about it! How does their backstory, if any, define who they are? How does it reflect their relationships now? Their hopes and dreams?

So far, Trigun Amanda's backstory is that she's the daughter of a mechanic and learned the trade from him! She ends up taking over the business as the lead mechanic when she's 18 after an accident left her father unable to work for prolonged periods of time. This shaped her to be fiercely independent (to her own detriment sometimes), so she has a tendency to try and do things on her own without help. Sadly, her mother isn't in the picture (she passed away), so it's just been her and her father since she was a child. He had super high hopes and expectations of her and wishes that she would've chosen a different profession, but Amanda doesn't let that get in her way. She enjoys working on vehicles and other mechanical things. Over the years she's actually become quite the all-around handyman and often helps out anyone in a pinch!

6.) Do they fight? What’s their weapon of choice? Do they stay on the sidelines? What would it take for them to get off the sidelines? Revenge? Saving a loved one? What’s the motivation for them to fight, or to stay OUT of a fight?

Amanda may talk a big game and will stand chest-to-chest glaring at (or up at) anyone who may threaten her, her business, or her family, but she heavily prefers not to fight if possible. She'll resort to true violence if she has to, but only as a last resort. She's seen the destruction that bandits bring places and knows that tensions run high, people can get hurt. She does, however, carry a .357 caliber magnum when she leaves home as a safety precaution. She steps up when the people she cares about or the defenseless are threatened. She has a very strong moral compass, so it doesn't take her a lot to put herself in harms way to help someone. She'll stay out of it if she's explicitly told to (for the most part).

7.) What kind of clothing style do they like? What would they never be caught dead wearing? What’s likely in their closet right now?

Amanda is very big on practical and comfortable clothing. Loves big comfy sweaters and nice fitting jeans with deep pockets. Also a huge fan of solid color tank tops (which is what she wears under her sweaters). The last she likes doing is wearing formal clothing, especially dresses. It makes her feel stuffy and exposed. Sun dresses get a pass though; she likes wearing them to relax and walk around after a long day's work.
